Reviews of Hoe Park
C. C. (. T. D. &. D.
Taken on a very cloudy overcast day, still the scenery was breathtaking, plenty to see in the area. The war memorial is really big, walls and walls filled with names…. The lighthouse was lovely and eye catching, you can pay to go inside. The swimming was stunning, not many in with the weather, bet the water was chilly. Great very, peaceful, relaxing. Plenty of benches to watch the world go by.
P. H.
Very overcast day with scattered showers and a strong breeze but if you're not prepared to go for a walk in England in this weather you best stay at home. I just love the wind coming off the ocean and messing your hair up. Not much activity here today but a lot more people further down. I made time to pay my respect at all the memorials to those who sacrificed their lives so we can lead a free life today.
c. s.
Great views from the Hill of the Harbour and all the boats. Nice historic army base situated at the top near the lighthouse. Plenty of cafes to get food and drink from. Very nicely kept and clean all round. Stunning views looking out to sea. We went on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. Will be going back some day as we didn't have time to walk round properly.
M. D. G.
Good place to view Sail GP, the fireworks chamionships or just enjoy the ever changing activity in Plymouth Sound. Try imagining you were a youngster setting off for the new world and then review your own life plan. I'll never regret running away to live here on the coast🍸
H. P.
What an Iconic Lighthouse and jaw-dropping dropping venue. The view of the sea is spectacular regardless of the weather. I always enjoy my walks and visit here and is a must whenever visiting Plymouth.
m.
A nice walk along the top of the shore line, it is quite steep to get to the lighthouse,so just be wary of that. And a great boat trip across the bay, cheap at just £10 each. The only down side is that it used to be free to go up the lighthouse, but they now charge £5 a time which is a shame
M. T.
One of the most spectacular locations to view Plymouth Sound, have leisurely stroll, picnic and meet friends, or walk your dog. Minutes from delicious cafes and resturants which are affordable, whatever your budget. Blue Badge drivers can access parking 'on the prom' but it is limited.
A. B.
Great Disability Blue badge access on 'normal' non event days. You get to park on the flat tarmac area. So those with mobility issues are able to get around. There is also a averagely good cafe with good access. Not forgetting the great views. You can also make shadow angels of it's sunny.
C. C.
Lovely place to have a picnic or walk through with the family and dogs. Beautiful views of Plymouth Sound, and there are steps down if you wish for a swim
j. L.
Having come from Plymouth I know this place well. It has seen many things over the years and those of us old enough have had the opportunity to go there to see and been seen. It is a great place to sit and people watch, cost you nothing except your time.
a.
Nice place to relax your mind looking at the view.
And have a Devonshire ice-cream from Langage Farm van. Rum & raisin ice cream the best.
G. Z.
Great place in the summer, amazing view out over Plymouth Sound and over to Drake Island. Worth visiting the lighthouse on a nice day and heading to the top.
M. P.
Very pleasant park with a commanding view across Plymouth Sound. We walked through the park from our guest house to get to Smeaton's Tower, which is situated within the park. It was about a four minute stroll from our guest house, past Drake's statue.
M.
This is a great location, scenic with so much history! It always seems to be windy but to be fair we do tend to go in the spring! It’s nice to pick up a warm drink and sit on the front with so much to see. Well recommended.
A. z.
Beautiful place worth going there, we also went on light house beautiful view from top.
H. B.
Great place too be very busy and wonderful sea views loads of little pubs to visit was there fir 1 big summer festival!!
S. J.
Love this place really feels like home. Beautiful view and people are really nice. Public toilets only a few mins away and good amount of shops close by. Not too far from city centre and an outstanding passtime to watch the ocean
k. m.
One of the most beautiful and scenic place to visit if you are on a holiday in Plymouth. So calm and relaxing.
Even more exciting on a sunny day 😉.
S. H.
Wow such a beautiful place, views are stunning, please visit you won't be disappointed
S. M.
What a lovely park to take an evening stroll! Definitely a must visit in Plymouth. You can find the Smeaton tower on top of the park where you can see a lovely view of the Ocean and the islands. Great place to watch the sunset.
A. M.
Great views, rugged coast line. Perfect event location.
H. J. H.
Such a gorgeous location with amazing views. A lovely place for a walk. Lots of dog walkers so I imagine it's perfect place for a dog walk or a picnic.
S. B.
Beautiful place for parades and other activities. It offers a wide and clear view of the Plymouth Sound, Marine Park and the Drake's Island.
C. H.
Well looked after visited on a rainy day some lovely statues and memorials to visit town centre close by within walking distance.
J. b.
Lovely place to visit lots to see and
Had a nice pint at the ship inn
A. M.
Great place to have a walk with the dogs or just a stroll. Usually have things on eg Armed Forces Day, 10k etc
N. S.
Great Park. Clean and well maintained. Parking was difficult but finally found a space a short walk away. Toilet facilities are on site and it's right beside the harbour. We went on a warm day and had a ice-cream beside the water.
J. W.
A lovely place to visit. Need to bring some coat because it is always windy.
A. B.
Showpiece of Plymouth. Lots of open areas for leisure. Access down to the sea, cafés, views.
A place where organised activities take place.
beautiful views out to sea and across the bay.
R. J.
Gorgeous place to walk and take in the splendid view. It helped that we were there on a bright, sunny, clear day with a fab sea breeze. Really blew the cobwebs away!!
Military history reminders all around here with the monuments and statues. Nice statue of Nancy Astor, very realistic I thought.
Would definitely visit again
A.
Wow what a gorgeous place, it was well worth the 5.5 hours drive there and the same back. I could easily spent the whole dusk till dawn wondering around looking at the scenery and all of its quirks. The locals are lovely and welcoming majority of them smile and have polite chat while our pet dogs have friendly greetings. I could definitely see Plymouth being just the place I finally settle down.
S. O.
Very well maintained and a fantastic view of the harbour ... great space ... and fairly accessible with parking just 10m away.
Thoroughly recommended if you are in the area.
E. B.
Normally a quite peaceful place to enjoy a coffee and the views over Plymouth Sound. Gets very busy at times when there is something spectacular taking place. Can easily accommodate around 100,000 people.
Went to the British round of Sail GP and it was busy. But still a good day out
C. J.
Nice little park just off from the main tourist area. I remember going here when I was a kid (that was 30 years ago), so you can tell it's been a popular place for generations. Perfect little toddler park, lots of space to run around and be silly in.
A.
Wonderful place. Nice sea view. Paddling pool in summer time next to waterfront. Light house, £5 entry for adults and 2.50 children, closed on Monday. Lot of steps if you want to go near to the water
R. R.
Well unfortunately it was absolutely pouring and very windy but there's such a beautiful view you can watch all the big ships and there's dome interesting historical statues and an amazing lido. Will definitely go back spring/summer. You can sit where The Beatles sat! Lots of dogs, places to get coffee and snacks.
B. B.
The only reason I moved to plymouth and it doesn't disappoint. It has on site wifi, a couple good fishing spots, many things to keep you entertained and some of the best views around.
M. D.
Overall a great place to visit, amazing views lots of space and great when events are on. Lots of nearby parking and just a few minutes walk from the centre. I mean it’s a park with a lighthouse it is what you expect nothing much more to say other than it is a good place to visit
M.
That's very large park in Plymouth city centre. It has ten minutes by walking far away from city centre and closer to the barbican. Many festivals, funfair and charity support runs happening in this park . The best place to see fireworks champions in Plymouth and also the best place to see ocean View and light hoses. That's beautiful park and it will be useful to visit by family and friends all the time.
C. S.
Beautiful area, lovely location to watch the sunset.
K. H.
Non commercial, loads of public ventures like fireworks or boat races throughout year, fabulous parade ground for skating or boarding, or scooter or just an amazing fabulous walk with a vue. Disabled access in their car to enjoy that vue. Free children's park and picnic area so the kids can run around with a ball, see the war ships and ferries, yachts and catamarans sail too and fro, enjoy great dining or yummy snacks.
C. 1.
Stunning views so beautiful and peaceful this time of year
C. R.
Large open space to walk or relax in with magnificent views out to sea. Lots of historical interest and monuments, with the added attraction of a small cafe and toilets.
H. T.
Like... one of Plymouth best place to visit for locals and tourist alike. Great view of the sea and plenty of spaces to do whatever. Best when it's not Winter and raining... of course
S. C.
Views, History, places to eat and drink. A great coastal part of Plymouth.
D.
Very Nice Place To Chill With Friend's And Have A BBQ
C. H.
Lovely area to explore Plymouth history, have a coffee or ice cream and relax by the ocean
D. T.
Lovely park and interesting monuments. A pity there was a marque/food Hall being erected when we visited (Sept) which blocked the sea view from the war memorial. Apparently it was to award the respective certificates to the post graduates of the universary. Pity there were so many dog owners allowing their pets to run amuck off their leads.
N. K.
Lovely view and place 🌅
A. B.
Nice place for a sea view, there are lots of notable statues and monuments, the temporary poppy monument was great. Good place to take children to use their scooters etc... quite exposed to the elements, so not good on windy or rainy days.
Z. C.
Absolutely beautiful place right on the coast. Full of children's laughter. Little food shack with basic munch and chips. Cheap rides and the mini golf is brilliant. Perfect little family day out. Can be pricey if you have larger families but worth it for the fun. As it has all been there for years it is well respectful and always busy in peak times.
S. M.
Absolutely love it here amazing views little park trampoline and few others pay on rides, ice cream, snack places, also there is a little hidden beach there, and a brilliant view 9f drakes island
J. F. R. N.
Beautiful view of the bay. There are a lot of military carriers in front of the park and is awesome for a sunday morning walk or run. The place counts with a lot of interesting open areas for walking and exploring. If you play pokemon go there are also a lot of poke stops. The view is the highlight, you will love it for a family day or date.
l. c.
Hoe park is in the sea front, there is plenty to see & also plenty to do. Its a good place for all the family to enjoy. There is plenty of seats all on a large grassy area, so you can take plenty of breaks or have a picnic.
L. P.
Amazing views in the evening
C. G.
Lovely round here walks and.views .
Just sitting and looking at vews We was lucky with the weather but still lovely in its own way around this area.we found a great snack bar called. Jasper which was very reasonable price which is difficult to find these days .
S. C.
Went for the national fireworks on Wednesday, fantastically organised from the park and ride to Display it's self wow what a great night free entertainment, 5 stars. Well done Plymouth.
P. W.
Plymouth How sea front is stunning, a horse shoe bay protected by a breakwater. It has a Victorian lido amongst a sea front cafe/restaurant culture. I paid £1 for a clotted cream topped ice cream, I couldn't believe it what value from a kiosk serving hot food, drinks, cakes and biscuits.
G. P.
A really lovely beautiful place to be, even in winter when I was there and totally dog friendly and seemingly a meeting places for dog walkers, The view across the harbour is beautiful. It has multiple amenities from Cafes, nearby pubs, to sensory gardens and even a couple of monuments (the lighthouse is super interesting, thoroughly recommend). Photos taken from various points on the Hoe, inc at the top of the lighthouse.
M. “. W.
Lovely place on a nice Sunday day, lots of history here with the mayflower steps just a short walk away.
There are a few places to stop and eat here along the front with ice-cream vans dotted about too, also a couple coffee shacks.
I. N.
We went to see the Lighthouse which was a lovely experience but it's obviously not for the faint hearted or people with vertigo. However, if you have the courage and the strength, it's well worth going all the way to the top for a breathtaking view! The park itself is a great place to kill some time, have a picnic or play crazy (impossible) golf and on a hot day, you can go to the lido which is at the bottom of the hill.
P. D.
Very unusual that a City's Waterfront should be taken over as a war memorial. Very spacious and great views full stop very pleasant to spend some hours just enjoying the space and natural beauty.
M. D.
Views are amazing. On a sunny day it might get very busy. Plenty of cafés around.
F. W.
Enjoyed a lovely day out here with the family. Lovely views to be seen.
P. D.
A very interesting park with a huge war memorial, lighthouse and other curiosities. It overlooks the bay.
D. P.
There for the Plymouth Half, huge space to this day, and good views out across the Bay of Plymouth Sound. Not much else to say, could you have a picnic, play a small game of football, chase a dog, spot other tourists, get battered by the wind and rain when stormy? All of these!
R. E.
Serendipitous place. I love this place, good for family and friends park trip. Clean and healthy place.
S. W.
Spent my time doing what I love photography there was lots of wildlife to sit back and watch. Definitely worth going to sit down and relax
A. J.
One of the calm places to relax in plymouth.we celebrate friends birthdays here.
M. B.
The park has toilets and cafes, beautiful views on a sunny day, great for a stroll or a picnic.
F. T. (.
Wonderful day of sights and sounds from a great overlook of the English channel and Atlantic ocean. Great views of English naval vessels cruising by.
D. B.
Awesome place....can spend all day just doing nothing
C. N.
Great place to visit plenty to see and a good range of shops just a short walk away near the harbour area
l. c.
We went to the British firework display here on the 18&19 August. It was brilliant and with the fair there as well it made the atmosphere real fun. Enjoyed every minute
J. S.
I like really much this place, the lighthouse is not really amazing because is the typical here in the UK, you can find one similar in Southampton. But the views are really incredible, it is an mazing place to breath fresh air and hang out with some of your friends, do a picnic or a bbq. 100% recommend
D. M.
Such a nice place to stand and watch the views on a sunny day. Looking down in the Lido. Watching the ships and boats come and go. Ice cream teas and cafés around. Good parking for the disabled badge holders right by the lighthouse and indeed further down the road that follows the edge. Well worth a visit. Essential Plymouth City visit for sight seers.
T. T.
Park wasn't busy for a Sunday, so beautiful and so calm.
Great views.
V. S.
Nice place brilliant views out to see
A. C.
Lovely, tidy and clean park which is very scenic and relaxing. Overall, great place to visit. Nice cafes and coffee shops as well. Although on some days it can be quite windy!
M. K.
The perfect setting for an afternoon by the sea. Clean, a beautiful view, and many spots to get tea, coffee, or snacks. Don’t forget to take a trip up Smeaton’s Tower, the lighthouse, to take in the views!
j. m.
Went to a concert it was amazing. Brilliant place to hold this function
B. T.
Lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, plenty of benches, there were people who were having BBQ's up there.
As a very large tarmacked area where people can rollerblade or kids can ride their bikes safely.
If you walk down the steps from their home there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to grab food or just a drink.
Along with the view have the lighthouse and statues and the cenotaph.
R. T.
It's a beautiful place with stunning views and enough space not to be claustrophobic
A. A.
Beautiful place to take a walk, have a picnic, or just sit and watch the world go by.
O. D.
Beautiful views of the bay, great place for a stroll and some skating.
A. H.
Lovely views of the sea. Lots of steps, though if you want to access the sea. Plenty of ice cream and drink vendors. Parking can be a challenge at popular times and is chargeable between 8am and 6pm.
P. R.
A nice little park for families to enjoy. The toilets now are either card payment or 20p. Unisex. Fine if they worked properly, but two of them took the card payment & 20p, but would still not open. A number of people had this problem. Good job other people were helpful to those who were waiting. Something the council need to get on top of!
P. W.
Great History, Short Walk to City Centre and The Barbican. Worth a trip up Smeaton Lighthouse.
J. A.
Great views, lots of space and lots of eateries within easy walking distance.
H. M.
One of the most beautiful places I've seen🌺🌸🌺
J. D.
A great place, especially on a sunny day. With an amazing view and lots of little café shops around for whatever you get hungry. There are also two swimming pools nearby. And a small park and rides for children to enjoy. Overall a nice place to visit for anyone.
Ł. M.
Great open space with magnificent sea views! Perfect for family picnics, outdoor activities like rollerskating, jogging, walking, yoga, ball games, frizbie and generally chilling 😉
J. N.
Loved it but everything is monetised, we waited until after 6 and took our own photos at the mile marker. The Rattler cider at the Hotel was great. If you go after 5 to see the sunset you have free parking but no shops open
S. R.
Great views. Peaceful spot.
A. F.
Nice place to hang out, great views over Plymouth Sound. Even includes the bowls club where Francis Drake was allegedly playing bowls! Ice cream kiosk, cafe, all you need is sun!
m. n.
We took the children to Plymouth for a few days, we stayed at premier Inn and it was the best summer break ever. People there were very friendly and happy.
M. L.
The Hoe was a very clean Naval based park. It was exciting to climb the Smeaton's Tower Lighthouse that has been re-located from its position further out in the harbour in the 1880s. The reason for the visit is it was the birthplace of my partner who is celebrating a 70th birthday.
R. O.
Very nice sea views. Can be very windy and therefore chilly, so bring some layers with you. The lighthouse costs to walk up, we didn't see this an necessary as the views are already very good and the lighthouse's height wouldn't of added much. There's lots of places to pay to park down the road, however this is a very busy area so spaces can be difficult to find sometimes.
C. R.
Blessed to live so close to such a beautiful place. Rain or shine there's always good coffee nearby to sit in and watch a stormy sea or Ice cream to enjoy on a hot day with a swim x
B. S.
Important historic area of Plymouth. The Pilgrim Fathers set sail from here, the Tolpuddle Martyrs were transported from here. Now a beautiful park and public open space with war memorials, seafront and lido (summer only)
T. D. w. M.
A lovely trip up to Plymouth Hoe to have a look at the War Memorial with its lovely display of Poppies. Well worth a visit if your in the area. It reminds you a lot of all those servicemen and woman who lost their lives in two world wars. It brings back all that is forgotten by all those who remember.
N. N.
I went here to try out my camera and it didn't disappoint tbh! Beautiful scenery!
T. K.
Lovely place. Very clean. Lots of space for toddlers to roam safely
T. “. A.
Panoramic views of the sound(water)and the city
Fresh air
Cafes restaurant s and monuments and memorials reflecting Plymouth history
Area of grass to relax on and popular with cyclists learning to ride and skateboards, skates and kiteflying
N. C.
Nice little park with land train, trampoline and bouncy castle, very cheap day out, also has little area that has token rides, not as cheap but reasonable prices.
K. H.
Always a lovely place to walk can get busy in the summer but still enjoyable no matter what the weather is nice views lots of history too
A. M.
Lovely place for a relaxing walk. Have to pay for parking everywhere, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
L.
Great place to hang out on a sunny day with family and friends. Lots of space on grass, lots of smooth concrete for wheels, great view and not far from the barbican if you fancy looking at some boats whilst eating.
B. K.
Wonderful views, plenty of history, ample parking. Rather steep down to the seafront but plenty of stopping stages on the way back up.
A. W.
Beautiful, serene and a very lush open space that I plan to visit during the summer months when it can be enjoyed more. The monument to those who served in ww1 & ww2 is amazing and brings to the forefront, when you see the vast lists of names, the sheer volume of soldiers that lost their lives fighting for the country. I was very impressed with the statues to commemorate fallen service persons from land, sea and air forces. The opportunity for amazing views is there, just maybe not best during the winter months. Only thing I didn't like was the monument praising Francis Drake, simply because I don't feel it's right to commemorate someone famous for being a thieving pirate. What the history books didn't tell me at school, I found out for myself.. and upon delving further I discovered he was also a slave trader, an aspect of Britain's 'empire' that is quite vehemently swept under the carpet, again another aspect they didn't teach at school. So ok, he circumnavigated the globe... Which as far as I'm concerned is something worth mentioning, not commemorating. May as well have a monument to Blackbeard the pirate next to him. Overall, a really good park and place of interest, great for a picnic, to walk the dog or just to have some alone time.
M. M.
Really beautiful place to go and visit one of a kind the green space alone is worth the small walk from the centre. Sat and had a picnic on the grass over looking the sea was a great day there's also a light house that you can climb at a small cost think it was eight pound for adult and child and you can see for miles lovely views
D. S.
It's beautiful and inspiring. Perfect for taking photos. You also could go to the top of the lighthouse to enjoy the view. It's definitely worth a visit.
F. R.
Few people seem to have no consideration for others , during covid stay safe. We took our son up early to avoid people to enjoy a walk. We saw loads of rubbish , bear bottles spread out everywhere. Why can't you take your rubbish home. This was 7.30am. Credit to Plymouth city council who was cleaning it up , but say it's happening a lot. Come on people enjoy your outing but take your rubbish home with you please.
L. M.
Lovely place to sit abd watch the world go by
L. J.
5 star's says it all ..Beautiful scenery out to sea , plenty of places to eat or drink ,places to sit and enjoy the view , Toilet facilities ..Diffivult to park on The Hoe when busy ..
A. C.
Brilliant park on the historic Plymouth Hoe looking out across the Sound. The playground and adjoining pirate park is great fun for the little ones and kept them entertained for the morning.
The views across the Sound are second to none and there is always plenty going on.
Getting refreshments is easy, not too pricey either and the little railway line and assorted rides is an added bonus. Parking is metered so get as close as you can.
T. D.
Beautiful place to visit. Plenty of cafe's and coffee shops. Fantastic views and Smeatons Lighthouse is a fabulous piece of history and a great price on entry fee. £4 adults and £2 per child. £12 for 2 adults and up to 3 kids.
Wonderful war memorial to seamen lost during the 2 world wars.
Lovely pic nic areas and plenty of space for the young ones to run around.
You won't be dissapointed.
S. R.
I have been there for many times. It's very beautiful place for spending time alone. The front sea and the near coffee shops are very good.
J. C.
Went to watch SailGP great setting
R. R.
Breathtaking views. Looks like the events here are in such an amazing setting. I will be back...alot.
D. H. L.
Brilliant price for kids rides. 50p for 10 minutes on the bouncy castle. Spinning cups 50p.... bungi trompolining.... table tennis...traim ride and lots, lots more. Advise to take cash with you as there is no card payment facilities close by.... great place for all ages... the island is great with water boats and play park.
T. G.
I was great to go back to somewhere I haven't been for a while & the view from the top of Smeaton's tower was well worth the trip alone.
T. C.
We only went for a walk here after dinner. It was beautiful. Very clean. Xxxx
M. W.
Wonderful place to spend a few hours relaxing or starting a walk along the South West Coast Trail
A. C.

R. C.
Beautiful open space with a great view
J. A.
A great outdoor space to enjoy the Plymouth coast with the iconic Smeaton lighthouse. Great big tarmac area good for kids for riding bike etc. And lots of grass areas and benches to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Plymouth sound area. Always a nice free place to go when the weather is good.
K. T.
Nice and peaceful there🦋🦋🦋
S. S.
Its a wonderful place for an evening walk after work. Stunning views across Plymouth Sound and a short stroll down to the Barbican for fish and chips.
K. R.
Lovely area. Fairly busy but not to busy. Sat and watched a ferry Dock. Took some nice pictures.
L. M.
This is the home of Plymouth's lighthouse, I'd heard a lot about it from a local before visiting myself and was a bit underwhelmed. It was quite busy and the top is often busy with cars. The view is fine and you feel like you have space to breathe in the evenings as it's often quieter and less busy. Lots of dogs here. I enjoy evenings here more than in the day.
R. T.
Perfect place to teach kids how to ride bikes. Or just great place to watch the ships, submarines and other watercraft coming in out. And loads of places for ice cream
L. S.
Wonderful place to visit, beautiful views and lovely to have a walk around.
M. S.
Nice Park, dog friendly, good events, great view, worth going. Jolly good stuffs

G. H.
One of the jewels of Plymouth. Panoramic views of Plymouth Sound, with Drakes Island in front of you, Cornwall and Mount Edgecombe to the right, Jennycliff and Mount Batten to the left and the city itself behind you. All of this is tied together by the historic Smetons Tower, an Old lighthouse standing watch over everything. A must see area, you feel detached from the hustle and bustle of the city.
C. S.
Lovely views of the coast. We most commonly visit here for the annual fireworks championships. Plenty of space for picnics and a run-around.
Please treat this communal area with the greatest respect and take all your litter home with you
d. h.
Lovely quiet little place with some absolutely amazing views 😍
B. R.
What can one say about the place!
We reached the Hoe on Sunday evening and found it deserted. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise as we had the entire place to ourselves - more or less.
The beauty of the place and its historical importance is unsurpassed. The green grass and the commemorative structures give it an appeal that can't be described in words.
If you are in Plymouth and have some time to spare, do visit the Hoe.
M.

Weather was amazing found Tudor rose tea rooms for a Sunday roast which was delicious , afternoon tea looked amazing too maybe next time. Great service, superb food flavour and a lovely sunny garden with shelter from the hot sun. Alot of pubs and restaurants and over the weekend the harbour front was totally packed with some crazy pirate dudes, families and some interesting dog breeds. I'd liked to have done the 4.5hour boat trip but only the 1hour harbour trip available , maybe next time? Check out the shops as we're some good bargains on offer, Millets had some great deals on hiking boots. Met the owners of this cutie and her 49KG Big brother had a chat and after awhile a small crowd gathered around admiring the dogs although it may have been me they were admiring although I'm not 100% sure on that? 😁 Great Day thankyou Plymouth.

Always loved this place there is just something about it. By chance there were a couple of morris dancing groups performing which was pretty entertaining and fun, not usually my thing but the groups were really upbeat with their own musicians. A great place to sit and enjoy the busy Plymouth Sound. Also popular with rollerskating and skateboarding due to the promenades smooth tarmac. Other attractions close by too

A very nice seaside area without the tackiness of many other beach seaside towns. There is no beach here but the green hills and myriad of boats and Drakes island all add to a lovely view. Large expanse of green area for parking your bum, large expanse of tarmac area for roller skating and the like and also some benches around a large memorial. Pubs close by as is a very quaint tea shop/cafe with small putting course. Also Tescos on the corner for cheapskates (me !)

All good natured.

D. R.
Beautiful scenery, lots of space, nice walks....
s.
Sat here for two hours, socially distanced, from a great friend that I hadn't seen for several months. Quite an emotional meeting. There's lots of space up here, little chance of not spacing out. The sun wasn't beaming down on us but Jo had got a little picnic from the co-op and we munched sarnies, flapjacks and fruit and drank those iced coffee drinks whilst the coastal breezes buffered us. The view was spectacular and there was obviously something going on with massive helicopters buzzing in and out. Was lovely and clean. One of the few places where they've actually been emptying the bins over lockdown I think. Beware of the gulls, we saw them stealing food from two girls on the grass (they thought it hilarious mind....steal my food and you probably won't survive! ;-)) But we will definitely go back here. Lovely area of Plymouth with a nice atmosphere but beware! I forgot to put suncream on (although I made the lad do so), two days later I was peeling my skin off my forehead. Not a good look!
N. I.

On a cold windswept, January day its bracing. High above the sea you have a panoramic view, from the Tamar and the dockyard on the right to Sutton Harbour on the left, also left Jennicliffe Bay, the mile long breakwater and Drakes island. On a Summers day it is fabulous, always a breeze even on the hottest day. A great walk across, around the streets and back.on the seaward side. Even for an elderly lady there is much to stop and see, so many historical points of interest.

Beautiful scenery. Ideal for summer weather. Would love to go back for a picnic
