In the season, we really like staying at Saltram House. The morning had a calm atmosphere. You may drive up there and park when you get there. We did a full circuit on foot and read all of the informational signage along the way. When traveling through this area, it is important to have an open mind and allow enough of time. We anticipate making further trips to this location sometime in the near future.

Love this place but I think my dog loves it more there's nice picnic areas spread all over the grounds and Orienteering course where you can get maps from the shop if you have children of all ages and it's all over the place
S. W.
Beautiful place, walking around the gardens is beautiful and the view is perfect

For running ride and walk for pleasure best place in Plymouth

This is the second time I've been here. The first time was a couple of years ago. They were installing a new biomass boiler so not all of the house was open. It was still lovely though with loads to look it. This time I visited with my friend and her dog. It was early in the season so the house was closed. There are several marked walks you can take; we chose the riverside walk. It's very popular with dog walkers and those with buggies and young families as the ground is flat with wide surfaced paths. We did choose to go off the marked walk and ventured along the estuary, which was worth doing. Overall you can spend a good few hours here exploring the parkland alone. I would thoroughly recommend a visit with or without a trip into the house. A great NT property.

Great place for a Sunday stroll. I walk my dog here in a regular basis as do many other people. Also great for joggers and cyclists. The house is a national trust property and has a really nice cafe and a small park for children. Can be very busy but plenty of parking.

Lovely place to spend an afternoon. A National Trust property, the house is huge and the grounds are extensive. So much to see in the house, bringing back memories of a bygone era. The guides are informative, friendly and approachable. The house is on different levels and there are so many paintings to see. Plenty of car parking spaces, at least two cafes for refreshments and grounds to walk.

Very popular National Trust house. Sadly, you have to pay to park now. Excellent place to spend an afternoon either walking or cycling by the river or in the woods in one or all of the many surfaced trails. There is also s pump track if you have a bicycle.

Quite busy on a Sunday afternoon, beautiful place. There are loos available

The car park could not keep up with demand at the time we visited early on a Sunday. Some staff were posted explaining that they were waiting for the fields to recover after wet weather. The staff were clearly not happy about this.
It would be great to see the hardier (unafected by weather) parking extended, to avoid this in the future. The grounds were far from at capacity and it was not peak season either, I hate to think how much business was being turned away.

Great place to come and enjoy the grounds of Saltram house. The is a little hut near the entrance where you pay £3. It's manned during popular times. It used to be free but they have spent a lot of money to provide additional parking and on making extra paths. The is a small play park, and a café which can be accessed without having to pay to go in the house. The walks are enjoyable, good for dog walking,(some places they have to be on a lead), and cycling.
D. J.
Non-trust members pay for parking, particularly special gardens and grounds for trust members. Do make sure you enter the closer house gardens accessible through the courtyard.
Kiddie play park is great and the Cafe is pretty good too. Lots of den making and games to be had inside the grounds.
D. M.
Lovely grounds for walking, running or cycling. Cafe offers decent food at a reasonable price. Car parking is overpriced - £3 but free for national trust members
S. P.
Plenty of spaces to park even in summer. The walk around the house is beautiful nearly all year round, national trust members will be able to park for free. Members of the public will be asked for £3 on entry.
A. J. (.
Lovely grounds to walk around and amazing views to look at. Grate for dog walking. £3 parking unless you are a member of the national trust. Had a lovely time.
a. b.
This car park was ok. It is meant to be one way, however, many people were confused by this. Also, people had littered. Not the national trusts fault just ignorant tourists. It was a good size and free for trust pass holders.
J. B.
Lovely place to visit all year round. Christmas is brilliant there! Lovely gardens and house. We'll worth a visit. Cafe has lovely cakes and a nice cuppa!
C. M.
Popular all year round with families, dog walkers, cyclists, joggers. Popular picnic destination. Great events over Christmas. Free parking if you are a National Trust member.
R. M.
Its a place we use regularly as we cycle either around the grounds our from Saltram to Tavistock. Plenty of facilites ang lots of space
M. S.
Pleasant and peaceful, plenty of wildlife surrounding the car park and walks leading from it. Also the National Trust cafe, property and shop are super close to refresh after a walk.

National trust car park in the grounds of Saltram house estate Non members have to pay
We were there at the weekend and managed to park well however come dinner time and afternoon it was very busy
Accessible toilets
Easy access to the many walks around the estate and close to the house entrance
J. A.
Massive Car Park loads of space, free for national trust members
A. S.
Easily the best time I've had sat in a car park waiting for my disgruntled wife to stop shouting about how I fail to provide for the family. I fail to see how I am at fault for working 60+ hours a week to keep clothes on my many children's backs and gin in my wife's tum. I guess this is Goodbye. All the best.
A. R.
As car parks go, this is one of the best. It has spaces to park cars. It's near a house called Saltram.....hence the clever name.
Stunning views, play parks, cafe and a site for travellers who don't want to travel.
J. G.
It's a car park. There are cars and they are parked. Some well, some not so well. Some are silver, others are blue. You can find German made, French, American etc. Some might benefit from a wash. Others wouldn't, no wash would improve them.
E. C.
Love Saltram, always something new to see in the house and the gardens are lovely to walk around whatever the season. Volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable.
P. C.
Stunning white Georgian House, stands out in the sprawling acres of countryside it is set in, unfortunately some work was being carried out on the outside and in the Great Hall when we visited, although not enough to put us off the visit, Great restaurant to eat in plenty of parking and huge amount of land to go walking and exploring in.
p. s.
Although saltram house is the best place with 5 stars, the parking is chargeable now for non members. Not many places so on good sunny day you will struggle to park in this beautiful place.
L. T.
Great place to visit for a walk and browse in the shop and visit to the house. Food in the cafe was lovely. Parking is £3 which is reasonable.
R. C.
Excellent national trust property..always something going on ..plenty of parking ..lovely walks. Two cafes .. a posh one ( has waitress service) and a self service cafe

Wow first visit, well worth the £3 parking, lovely picturesque views and a nice walk.
A.
Lovely for dog walking beautiful scenery, but slightly ruined by its popularity and people with bikes and pushchairs.
A. S.
Non members have to pay to park, which is fair enough they've spent lots of money on it and many people don't go into the property
M. A.
Lots of car parking and really worth the visit with wonderful walks and beautiful scenery.
K. T.
Visited at Christmas ....WOW beautiful decs esp for children themed fairytale rooms , lovely tearoom and nice staff
Cant wait to visit when it gets warmer
R. H.
Wet parking on the grass due to the high volume of visitors. Irritating that often the pay hut is unmanned. This means some guests pay £3. Others pay nothing!!
T. M.
Nice for walking if you don't mind dogs off a leash and speeding cyclists.
K. P.
Very very slow service in the cafe today. Lots of ducks for the children to feed. Plenty of hard surfaces for wheelchairs etc at the house and out into the park.
S. Q.
Fantastic location. Wellies essential for lots of the paths after wet weather.
S. W.
A wonderful Christmas exhibition when we visited in December. Good soup in the restaurant. Thank you.
A. H.
Nice one but the parking was so unorthodox it was a joke, there was one man as you came in to the grounds and that was it. Need more information and organisations.
