Reviews of Haslam Park
J. D.
A wonderful big park for all the family.
Lots of paths to wander.
Play area for the kids.
A few bench’s around the lake to rest.
Beautiful flowers.
There are designated areas where you can let your dog off lead as there is also a nature reserve.
There’s a large car park that closes at 9pm
K. B.
Great park for walking the dog! So big that even in a busy Saturday morning you don't feel overcrowded by others!! Love trying all the different routes and cut-throughs!
T. S.
Lovely open fields with quaint gardens, ponds and even an orchard. Nice spot for an evening picnic in the summer. Also had great playground for the kids and even a few tennis courts.
Preston Council keep the grounds in great condition.
Lots of dogs around and it seems that there is no issue with letting your dogs off-lead, there were lots running around when we were there. The park is enclosed by fences and hedges, so you don't have to worry about your pup running into the streets.
R. (.
Disabled toilets available 24/7 if you're disabled and have a disabled key. Love the accessibility!
Spotless on the inside too, definitely no illegal activities or abuse occuring in here!
Disabled people, please close the door to make sure we have a safe and clean space to use 😇 thank you! ❤️

C. B.
A great park good for dog walkers and brilliant for families with young children, has a renovated play park and the pond is great for feeding the ducks
V. E.
Great dog walking Park! With paths onto Lancaster canal, wooded areas, a stream and expansive playing field there's every terrain for your dog & a lovely route that you can make as long or short as you want. Be careful of the swans on the canal, they don't like dogs 😂
M. S.
A park with lots of potential. Huge place to walk and enjoy but spoilt by lack of planting, overgrown borders and lots and lots of litter!!
Come on Preston council..
S. j. B.

V. O.
Such a beautiful park. Well worth the council tax!
J. S. P.
Nicely laid out and fairly big. Not lots to do although there's a young children's playground, tennis courts, bowling greens, toilets sometimes open, lots of parking, memorial gardens and a duck pond with waterfall entrance to the canal tow path.oh and a popular dog walking park.
d. b.
This is a beautiful part plenty of open spaces. Love pond and rivers. Great for young and beautiful old
M.
Kids play area. Bowling Green. Tennis & Basketball court, Football sized grass area with Cricket pitch. Duck pond Parking & disabled access. Great for kids, exercise, jogging and dog walking. No toilet facilities open
J. S.
Fabulous for dogs, great of the main drag routes ... for a busy park you can wander off track for a couple of hours and not see a soul..
T. g.
Great park, full lap takes about 25 minutes so perfect for a quick dog walk and it shows with the amount of friendly dog lovers.
H. M. M.
Extremely blessed to be able to enjoy this beautiful park with my gorgeous bichons Millie and Mabel 🐩🐩😍
B. S.
A haven of peace and quiet, right next to a very busy main road and also a busy railway, long peaceful walks, sensory garden, decent sized pond/lake and easy access to the Lancaster canal
E. A.
Amazing park for dogs especially! Has lots of little side paths off the big park, has a lovely pond. Just all round a great park
T. A.
Visited the mobile snack bar today - just what the park has needed for years! Absolutely fabulous coffee and brownie and lovely service 😍 xx
E. M.
I used to live near the park and whilst most of Preston has been wrecked by ugly buildings for the uni this remains the same. Hopefully next time I come back there won't be a big ugly square block in the middle
c. g.
Large spacious park with plenty of greenery and good play area for children
J. C.
A beautiful medium sized park with a brook running through the middle. The vast majority of the park is off-lead walking for dogs, though some visitors seem to forget this
s. b.
Really nice park to walk dog, dog walkers very friendly.
M. B.
Really nice park to take little ones a lot of space to run about and activity park has all you need duck pond and a good walk around
C. L.
Good place for a walk, kick about or drone flying.
M. N.
Excellent park for a nice dog walk...
C. B.
Can spend all day here (when Preston gets sun, so rare!), it's beautiful. Only downside is, if there's toilets, I'm yet to find them
B. M.
Nice children's play area, very poor toilet facilities
J. D.
Nice pleasant park better if people would pick up there dog s**t
J. M.
Great place to walk the dog. Hidden gem.
F. G.
Clean and well kept park with a lovely big lake, loads of little paths meandering off to different areas, also dogs are allowed in certain areas
of the park.
R. T.
Lovely park to go for a walk and also popular with dog walking. My boys love coming here to explore. There are prettier parks in Preston but this one has its own charm and lots of open space.
R. K.
Very beautiful park. Enjoyed my time here.
S. H.
Brilliant place for a nice walk and let the kids run around. Lovely settings 👍
L. R.
Fantastic big area, plenty of exits and entrances, lovely duck pond.
P. G.
Went for a walk around the park and the duck pond for the 1st time in a few years. The park has improved by having let certain areas grow wild, so there's a mix of manicured lawns and wild grass and trees. We saw a Heron sat on post in the duck pond.
Ample parking free of charge.
R. D.
Great place for dog walkers. Nice manicured walks or off piste in nearby fields. There's a brook for the water lovers, squirrels to be chased and car parking is free. Check out the dog walkers of Haslam Park website
D. T.
Lovely place. We were able to go along a nice canal walk and loop back into the park. There is a nice childrens play area and tennis courts for those who are feeling enthusiastic. It wasn't busy like a few parks are. I think more of a hidden gem.
C. T.
Great park to visit with the family, ice cream kiosk what great
E. T.
Lovely park to walk around the park and get to the canal another walk along the canal excellent on a sunny day here
H. N.
First time here. For a city park this is pretty decent. Long wide large field. Outlined by a nice path with trees providing a shaded walk during the intense midday summer sun. Helps when you need to avoid the sunlight with an overheating puppy. Not as wild or rugged as my local parks, but it is close to city centre so for that it's brilliant. There is an area with kids play area and astro turf caged. Will visit again on a less hot day haha
P. P.
A pleasant , well presented park, with a small lake, and footpaths to many directions to explore. There's a children's playground with a good variety of activities. On this occasion, I didn't venture around the whole park, but look forward in another visit, in the near future.
M. T.
Peaceful, herons and swans to be seen along with ducklings
L. N.
Beautifully kept park with access to the canal, a duck pond and picnic benches 😁
c. o.
Beautiful Victorian park definitely worth a visit. A credit to Preston borough council
P. S.
Lovely little park, good space and a bit of interest. Just missed a coffee shop or at least a hot drinks stand.
C. M.
Beautiful park! Lovely avenues of trees and child friendly
M. H.
Lovely walk round the park watching the grey squirrels bounding across the grass and chasing each other up the trees. With the sunshine coming out and with the gentle rain falling we were treated to a double rainbow.
L. M.
Enjoy my daily walk round haslam park. The canal and duck pond and other lovely scenery, my daughter enjoys the the children's swing and slide area, and we always have a performance leaving. Lovely park.
S. Z.
Good place for relax very picturesque views
t. P.
Arguably the nicest Public Park in Preston. Very well maintained open space with large grass area. Recently updated park area for children. Large pond with a variety of birds that take residence each year. Local flower shop sells seed to feed the birds. This park is also home to parakeets, you need to look carefully but you will hear them first. Teaching your kids to ride their bikes? This park has lovely long and wide paths throughout. From the park you can also access the canel and take a stroll along the canal paths or join the Guild Wheel. Lovely park with car parking on the road and its own car park situated off Bristow Avenue.
V. A.
Nice little playground, it's also got large duck pond
M. F.
Nice park with a big play area, 3 tennis courts, a basketball court and a football pitch. Also has nice dog walking paths and is located near the Lancaster Canal with incredible views.
P. R.
Good for families. Good tennis courts. Duck pond. Plenty of grassy areas. We'll kept park.
B. L.
This was my first visit to the park. I must say I was very surprised at the amount of green space. Walking along the canal was very pleasant, I even saw a narrow boat being renovated. There was plenty of seating. Shame I didn't have any bread for the ducks!
M. W.
Great place for a walk, really nice park with a small lake and waterfall, really lovely walk
T. B.
Love this park it's lovely how you can walk up on to the canal to see ducks and wildlife then rejoin the park again walking past the little Brooke upto the sensory gardens.
c. m.
Beautiful park ... well suited for kids play area and duck watching
J. H.
Sorry, I live in the U.S., and thus haven't had the chance to visit there. But I would love to visit some day. I very much would like to learn the history of the park and its founders. My ancestors are from this area, and I'd like to reconnect with their history around this area. it looks beautiful there!
P. T.
Lovely place to walk, whether it be on your own, with family / children, dogs. Plenty of beautiful things to see, birds to see, and easy access to the nature reserve and / or canal to make a walk longer if needed. Good play area for children (prior to and after Covid restrictions).
S.
Lovely park, begins with a long Lime Tree lined path which is nice and wide so plenty of room for children on bikes/scooters. Play area is currently closed for maintenance. Duck pond and plenty of paths to explore. Car park facility.
k. c.
Nice clean well kept park, big and has a nice stream running through, access to canal walk, free parking.
K. B.
I love Haslam park I have been going there for over 70 years .And when the swimming baths were open I went almost every day rain or shine as a school girl .And later I taught my children to swim there.
S.
Haslam Park is a traditional late victorian style park. It is of mixed layout including wildlife area, kids play area, bowling greens and wide open grassed area. It's bordered by a canal to the east, Blackpool Road to the south. The car park is however small and is hit or miss in spaces being available. There is a small Brook running over the west side which in parts is quite scruffy due to dumping, littering etc. All in all like most of Preston public parks its suffering locally from anti social behaviour at times which certainly has put me off and others I know of from using this park. All in all, haslam is worth a visit though I would probably recommend keeping it to the daytime and not early evening. It is a pitty our parks are not better police to allow the public worry free use of our parks (which we all pay for).
s.
Lovely park and parking. Google maps took us to the other side where there is no access you need to be on Blackpool road. Lots of grass and walks. Kids play area is tired and needs to TLC come on Preston council. Couldn't see any toilets but it's a big park so could be where we didn't walk
P. G.
Beautiful Victorian Park hardly used just by the canal
D. M.
Great park for a wander on a path or off the beaten track around the back of the pond. Plenty of places to stop, the Council just need to repair the footpath in a few places and keep on top of the litter
d. h.
Haslam park was my local park as a young boy and a teenager. Round the outer edge there are lots of places for adventure, stream, duck pond and Lancaster canal. There is a tree lined avenue and lots of flat space in centre for football. In my youth there was an outdoor swimming pool and a large play ground, this is now a car park. The play ground has been re- located. All in all a good Preston park for all ages.
David Hills.
G. S.
Has been my favourite park for years! Such lovely natural features with small woods and rivers. Not just a field with playgrounds like a lot of parks
j. s.
Big spacious park.Another one of Preston's amazing parks, haslam park is probably the smallest one compared to both avenham and moor park but still very spacious. its deffinatly the least busiest so if you fancy a nice quiet relaxing atmosphere then this is for you. It has all the usual facilities a park has but there is a few things there that you might not expect in a park I will leave that for you to decide.
S. T.
Great sized park for families, has swings, slides, tennis court, basketball etc for the kids. Also a large duck pond. Great for people wanting to jog or exercise as park is big. Well looked after by staff. Spent my whole childhood on this park, ( I'm 58 now 😊)
W. K.
Great park to enjoy the outdoors. Playground for kids. A small lake to enjoy feeding the local birds.
L. F.
Beautiful park with various routes to walk. Just very poorly kept by the council, benches are in a poor condition and falling apart.
H. S.
good for walks. for the kids. love it
C. P.
Great place for a family walk or a walk on your own. Lots of different paths and routes to take, with the wildlife too and great to see the majestic swan nesting at the moment too, on the Lancaster canal.
M. H.
Lovely quiet park with extra fields for dog walkers
C. E.
Nice 40 min walk around, kids loving feeding ducks, great space for kicking a fottie about and play park ok not massive but ok ,tennis and tarmac courts ,great cut through to walk along canal side
M. E.
Absolutely beautiful park my son loves this park so do I this park got so many lovely walks and it just amazing the play area is so much fun for my son lots to do for him he loves it always asks to come back here
A. B.
Lovely and fresh, beware ice,
Kids an dog all bk more or less clean
J. H.
Lovely place to walk your dogs. Here's a picture taken at about 7am recently
A. B.
It's a pleasent enough park. Improvements definitely made round pond area as previous visit saw it surrounded by litter etc.. Only minus (which understandably is the probable reason parks still exists so a necessary evil) is it is VERY popular with dog walkers, which obviously is fine when the owner is considerate but can be very overwhelming if you have any slight phobia as it's never more than 1 min before one is bounding towards you. Not an issue for me as I love dogs but felt needed noting for those that are not as keen!
G. F.
Nice park with two cascades by Pulham & Son.
A. O.
Visited the Plants+ shop to buy some bedding plants. Spoke to staff member Becki who was really helpful. Lots of interesting things on sale, some suitable for gifts.
P. C.
Great for a walk, well kept grounds
E. J.
Lovely place to walk round. There's a park at the entrance and a pond with ducks. Good idea for a free day out with the kids!
S. D.
Well kept family & dog park. Spectacular avenue of trees. Wide tarmac paths making walking even with a pram easy. Features a fenced play ground, fenced basketball courts, duck pound, river & bridges, picnic tables, & car park.
D. W.
Me and Lola (my dog) really love this park...very popular with dog walkers...decent little car park where there is always a space...
We jump on the canal and walk the length till back of park and rejoin around pond (shame the bridge is out of action) but meant we just walked all the way back round...
Well maintained, and the play park is under construction atm... good mix of spaces and gardens
A. H.
Nice park. Large grass areas, trees and a lake. Also a kids play area, and football, basketball and tennis courts well maintained.
E. C.
Such a lovely park. Very popular with families, couples and dog walkers.
A. H.
Great place for a walk or bike ride
J. H.
Large park with children's playground, concrete tennis courts, duck pond and nature trail spanning outwards, next to canal where swans and ducks breed every year. Car park.
H. H.
Great for kids of all ages. Play area it swings. Excellent for Dog walkers. Football field sized grass area ideal for playing cricket and other sports. Tennis & basketball courts. Bowling Green. Duck pond with seating area great for picnics
J. I.
Lots to explore, plenty of room to run around. Great place to spend a bank holiday.
L. K.
Lovely park all year round. Great for dog walks.
D. D.
Lovely park with tennis courts, kids play area (needs work), promenade and canal running around the back. There's also a duck pond, it'd beabe lot cleaner if filthy pigs stopped throwing their rubbish in there.
w.
Its nice in the day, but after the sun sets, it feels pretty unsafe. The fountain isn't maintained anymore so it doesn't look nice either.
M.
Been using this park since i was a child. I am now 76. Its wonderful
A. t.
This used to be a truly beautiful park but its been left to its own ruin. The play area needs modernising and even the old bowling greens should be made into something rather than leaving them to just be grassy areas.
v. s.
It is a place for ao kind of people, every season has its beauty and you can easily fall in love with this park, plenty of hidden nature's treasure, all you have to do is keep your eyes open and your ears in tune.
A. P.
Beautiful place for a family walk and dog walk and good recreational place to bring family or friends for a good time
D. A.
Lovely area for walking but paths in places flooded, very muddy. Free car parking. Green open spaces with walks nearby along the Lancaster canal.
N. M.
Beautiful place
D. L.
What a wonderful park in a busy friendly locality! Well-kept play area, expansive fields for running around, and a beautiful lake with ducks, swans, moorhens and gulls (of course). Food for the ducks can be bought from the florist shop near the swings (£1). There is a small nursery where you can see or purchase the plants being grown. There is access to the canal (more ducks and swans!) with a lock, boats and bridges. At the back of the park is a wildlife area to explore. I love it here, as do my little grandsons.
I. G.
Very beautiful and serene park ,lots of open space alongside the brook , good place to let off steam and lots of dog walkers and runners
J. N.
Good play area nice park
G. P.
I grew up next to this park. Most of my childhood memories of the 70's and early 80's are from this wonderful park. Miss the open air swimming baths though that is now a car park at the top end.
P. M.
Pretty good park. The playground is on decent condition, could do with a roundabout and larger slide. The tennis/football/basketball was in good condition. Shame the two bowling greens have been let to go to seed, but if nobody uses them... Maybe the old bowling pavilion could be turned into a cafe/ice cream parlour.
In general though, my 5 year old loved being in the Park.
F. B.
A lovely walk round the park
D. P.
The little pool where the ducks, swans and seagulls enjoy is very nice. By it the are two picnic tables. It's nice! But mostly I like and enjoy very much the canal near there: the environment is really amazing along it...you can see swans swim with their babies or building their nest and you're surrounded by nature and pretty houses and boats. Simply lovely!
N. E.
Really pretty and calming walk, a nice big amount of nature in the middle of Ashton
K. S.
Lovely park loads of space in all different areas. Play park on, game courts, duck pond. Leads on to the canal at the back of the park. Streams and wood areas. Great for runs, dog walking, kids and Picnic's. There istraining a caravenger park to the side of the park.
K. H.
Beautiful place
d. s.
Beautiful large park, with lovely canal side location, has a large duck pond
E. A.
Nice big park. I would defo go back again. You can see some ducks in the reservoir. Nice place to chill.
D. A. A.
A wonderful walk when the weather is nice
L. T.
Lovely park to visit
A. C.
What a fantastic park! We have driven past hundreds of times and glanced down looking at the park, but never stopped. Coming past this evening we decided to take the dog down, who was grumbling a bit in the back of the car. To say this park is a hidden gem is an understatement, lots of well maintained paths and grassed areas for the pooch to go and have a sniff and make new friends, lots of bins for the inevitable, little brooks and a huge lake. There's also a large car park by one of the gates. Will deffo go again for a longer explore.
S. T.
Really love Haslam park and I'm lucky to have it on our doorstep. There are loads of different walks and easy access to the canal. Great Park for the kids and huge spaces to play ball games. Always clean and tidy too
c. j.
Brilliant park plenty of little path taking you all around Haslam park, onto the canal, to the locks. I can spend up to two hours walking my dog. Only down side the toilets are locked most of the time and when they are open they're dirty
S. T.
Love this place, super clean and safe play area, fantastic park, lovely walking in the grounds, tennis area, little flower shop just by the entrance,
N. D.
Nice walk and good park for the kids loads of place for the kids to see and big fields for them to run around safely.
L. S.
Beautiful park. The play area is in desperate need of a lick of paint and renovation. Rubbish strewn everywhere and the pond looked like a floating tip. My advice is go to Avenham/Miller
O. V.
Very beautiful, lots of wildlife, well tended
V. P.
The park is beautiful to walk around. The childrens play area is in desperate need of some TLC and regeneration. Lovely park for dog walkers and pond to visit to feed the ducks
J. R.
Fun to cycle through. Walk through and run through, and fishing on the canal through summer is a must. Plenty of seating and dog bins for if your walking a dog. Long stretch near lane ends perfect for photography and walking.
A. B.
I Love Haslam park. This is a well maintained, beautiful space.
It's great for a walk, or to let the kids run off some energy.
I particularly love the wetlland area. I have a keen interest in wildlife and taking photographs. It's brilliant for birdlife and dragonflies in the summer. Tawny Owls can be found in the wooded area, next to the allotments, if you are lucky.
I must add the friends of Haslam park volunteers, do a great job too.
J. S.
I take my dog around this park every day, he loves it, it's also great for kids, and has a duck pond. It's well kept and has plenty of bins for dogs mess.
M. P.
This park really is beautiful it has a play area for the kids a tennis court crown balling a nice pond to walk round and feed the ducks and swans not so sure if there’s any decent fish 🎣 in the pond as my partner came here recently n said it was rubbish brilliant sized park to have a nice leisurely stroll with the dog
R. B. J.
Kids loved the playground and we had a lovely walk with the dog, plenty to see.
Could do to open restrooms at weekends, closed on 2 separate visits.
However, this seems a problem with all Preston Parks.
P. C.
We visited the park to walk the dog the grassy area were very muddy but we can't help the weather was a little disappointed with the main gate lots of dead leafs the gates and stone work all green and mouldy requires a good clean up and painting it could be beautiful.
N. M. M.
It's a wonderful experience that I visited this place. Park is full of positive vibes we can relax and can get a good pleasant atmosphere
E. E.
Had a lovely day walking great park clean plenty of places to sit so take a packed lunch
J. B.
Very nice spot for walking. Quiet and peaceful. Would recommend
P. F.
A lovely park to explore, play or relax. It has changed little over the years and retains its Victorian charm. The Lime Walk is a particularly pleasant experience.
h. g.
It's just a lovely big tradional Park
P. M.
Lovely park but we found it slightly hard to find & park, great for dog walks our 2 loved it, even tried chasing the squirrels up the trees, nice pond with numerous birds, & an information board there to explain which breeds.
M. H.
Fabulous park for kids or dog walking. It's an interesting walk around with a variety of features along the way. Large grasses areas and a brook runs through it.
S. E.
Nature reserve with dark winding wooded trails to wide open spaces...... Good relaxing day out
J. M.
Nice urban park with different areas and activities to explore. Variety of wildlife to look out for and can access the Lancaster canal to extend a walk easily.
J. C.
It's a beautiful Park all meet and tidy I didn't see any rubbish thumbs up to the people who keeps the park nice and clean and to the people that don't drop the rubbish
D. K.
Lovely park to spend some time in. Plenty of facilities for children
C. B.
Has a car park which makes it easy. Dog walking. Large pond with ducks. Not the best play area in terms of swings etc. Next to canal for a different walk .
C. F.
Beautiful Park for families
S. W.
Great park walk my dog regularly here well maintained
J. T.
It's a lovely park and the free tennis courts are ace.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR CURDEN VALLEY PARK. DONT KNOW WHY GOOGLE HAS SWITCHED THE PARK. HASLAM PARK IS LA GOOD PARK THOUGH!Fantastic little park , close To my family's heart. Great to walk around and enjoy a few hours away from the world. Visitors centre good and loads and load s of thing going on. For goodness sake use their parking and pay the ONE POUND it costs for the day. There is very little funding for this great park, don't be like the locals and park out side and moan when it all falls into disrepair
M. F.
Nice and quiet park in Ashton area. Second best in Preston(Avenhan beig the 1st). Good children play area and tennis court for sporty people. Sensory garden and a pond with ducks for those who want to unwind.
M. B. S.
Haslam park is a great experience for all if you have a family is a great place for a day out, if you have a dog it's a great place to take it, or even if you play pokemon go daily a great place to catch, plenty to do there such as feeding the ducks or letting your children play on the playground so if you fancy a cheap day out go chill here.
A. R.
