Reviews of Ashenbury Park
M. D.
Great place to walk the dog, lots of space but does get really muddy after it rains
K. C.
If you enjoy the perception of walking on grass only to find your shoe buried deep in mud, this is the place to be. You get to learn where the soft spots are after a few visits. I usually walk around the park 3 times along the edges resulting in a distance of about 4.5 miles. That takes me about an hour and a half and I'm a casual walker. Lots of space to be alone, it's popular for people walking their dogs as well. There's a car park on the side and it's free and is never busy.
There are these little islands of trees with paths through them dotted around the park, that make the walks more exciting.
On the southern end of the park, there's a larger bit of forest with wide paths and a brook running through it and joining the Old River in the eastern direction.
Great view at the top of the hill and the water front

Lots of dog mess on footpaths. Surely cleanup after your dog should be done as this is a family area where children can be around and they don't always look for poo.
K. ,.
Nice big open space for walking plus play area separately fenced off. Parking area free!!
S. D.
Great big space to walk dogs
G. A.
Large open fields. Wooded areas suitable for short walks with or without dogs. My nephew likes to try and climb the trees. There are some ponds but they are covered with algae don't go near them. Wear Wellington's it gets boggy. A small car park is free but has a bar to prevent vans and caravans.

This time of year it is very wet and muddy. But the dogs loved it up there. Big open spaces to let your dog and of course yourself wander around and explore. There's even a beautiful lake and although I haven't gone all the way to the back of the park yet, it looks like there's a wooded area to be explored.
If the kids don't want to walk then there is also a play park by the front car park.
B. C.
Good play area for young ones and plenty of open space for getting fresh air. Good for exploring if you head out around the lakes or down to the pub and ford out the back of the park.

A good spot for walks, as long as you wear appropriate footwear! Very boggy and muddy autumn-spring. No problem most summers. There are numerous paths through trees, open field and past a lake.
Fantastic view and sunset watching spot at the top of the hill! Also free parking, a kid's play area and benches for picnics (in the warmer months!!)

Ashenbury Park is a lovely large well maintained park with small pockets of wooded areas. There are a series of grass cut paths all around. The path along the gravel stream through the wood is very well maintained & not muddy. It must be at least a mile in length. Nice a quiet, clean, popular for dog walking & people who want to get out into the fresh air for some peace & down time. Plenty of rubbish bins with a large car park. I only saw one bench to sit on. I wish I had found this jewel if a park many years ago. There are a few muddy & boggy patches but there is also a small stream on the Eastern edge where dogs can safely wash off their paws.

I just stopped here for a quick walk on my way somewhere else as it was enroute. There's a free carpark & it's obviously popular for dog walking. There are open grass areas but I went into a forested area to the side. There's a stream running through it & there were lots of rabbits running around early evening.
s. b.
Nice park with area for kids and scenic walks. Has a good car park although can be a busy entrance due to local school. Can get muddy after rain.
J. L.
Just a meadow full of wild flowers and blowballs, it's like an oil painting.
G. I.
Nice open space with plenty of parking.
Small kids play area suitable for young kids.
Nice walk through the woods by the river too.
S. D.
I have many many good memories of this park as a child. Loads of space to enjoy and walking around, play on the hill and in the play park. As an adult, it's OK, nothing special. Couple of laps around for a 5K, mostly clean and not too crowded.
A. B.
A good park for dog walking. Bring your wellies though. It can get quite water logged. There's also a good kid's play area. Dogs aren't allowed in there.
A. B.

Mainly a dog walking area, it's a recycled tip
Lovely in the summer, flooded in the winter months, does have a play area for the kids
S.
Large open green space with good sized car park and children's play area.
J. P.
My dog thinks this is an excellent sniffy environment. Also chasing squirrels and rabbits and non existant ones certainly brightens up his walk.
L. L.
Took my Grandson to the playground but didn't like the fact there were groups of teenagers hanging out on play equipment preventing younger children from using it. Didn't however see any age restriction signs?
J. F.
A varied landscape, popular for dog walkers. There are woodland trails and also a (permit) fishing Lake nearby. Free parking.
S. L.
Great place to walk with the dogs. Open grassy spaces, wooded areas, a stream and a lake. Lovely!
R. F.
A great place for dog walking with a separate children’s play area. Gets very muddy/waterlogged in the winter months.
S. B.
Was beautiful for a while but now the restrictions have lessened so had some people's ability to take their empty bottles, cans and food wrapping and bin them properly. Such a shame that a mindless fecking lazy people ruin things for everyone else.
C. S.
Unfortunately there was litter, including broken glass on some equipment.
Otherwise an excellent facility.
C. H.
Large open space for dog walking, gets a bit boggy after heavy rain though! Car park directly adjacent to parkland.
S. L.
Great place to wander, with or without dog, in the summer. Avoid when out of summer and when it's been raining though, as the ground gets incredibly boggy and muddy.
z. c.

E. H.

A. C.
An ok place to walk your dog but during Coronavirus times, many more people started to come hear so it's quite busy at the moment
F. C. (. I. B.
Lovely park, like so many it could be so much better if it was managed better for wildlife and the inconsiderate dog owners were made to clean up after their pets and fined
E. H.
Great place for a walk with the dogs, no toilets nearby.

Big empty park. Loads of space but not much going on.
J. f.
Unfortunately suffers vandalism, fires etc in evening police need to be aware and park needs to be secured at night.
