Reviews of Lepe Country Park
R. G.
A great place to visit with family and friends for a picnic. Nice walk across coastline and in the park. There is a cafe on site ‘Outlook’, with a great view while you enjoy your hot coffee 🙂 ample parking- £9 for full day
It also has small play area for children.
G. B.
First time visit and was totally amazed with the views across to the isle of wight, could not believe how close it was. The raised wooden cafe here is just superb with an outside seating area to soak up the views and sunshine. The cafe caters for light lunches and full on cooked breakfasts, and light refreshments from teas and coffee and soft drinks. Just outside there is a kiosk where you can purchase ice creams and cold drinks. There are toilets in the cafe as well as outside toilet facilities. Overall very impressed.
S. F.
The beach and country park are a hidden treasure, with a well equipped cafe and parking facilities right on the beach front.
The beach is gravelly and has some rocks. Swimming can be dangerous here, as there’s a riptide that runs out toward the Isle of Wight where the tides meet. Great for windsurfing and kayaking.
L. W.
A beautiful place for a afternoon walk. Lovely scenery and easy to find. Good parking and accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Well worth a visit.
G. O.
This beach has a reasonable size park for kids and young adults.
I had loads of fun with my kids in the park and the walk along the beach and cliff edge is stunning.
It's mostly a rocky beach but has a huge area which is sandy.
My kids loved the fact we could walk quite a distance into the sea floors as the tides pushed backwards :)
C. B.
Really fabulous beach and coffee shop only a few minutes drive from Beaulieu and Bucklers Hard, where we often stay. Not only that, but some fascinating WW2 history and remnants of the D-Day invasion. You can almost close your eyes and step back in time.
I. D.
This is truly a hidden gem in New Forrest.
The beach is about one mile long, the sand is nice and existing (not many beaches in the uk have sand, most of them have shingle).
Y. M.
We found this place purely by luck. Wanted to actually go somewhere in New Forest but drove further down and ended up here. I was impressed. Very quiet beach with some sand and rocks, you have to pay for parking but it's relatively cheap. We enjoyed the walk down but I advise you to bring your own alcohol if you want as I couldn't find any nearby. Ideal for a family day out at a beach where you want a bit of peace and quiet. Some world war memorial history is there too which was interesting.
R. S.
There are 3 car parks at Lepe and on a nice summer's day they might all fill up as the area is very popular. There is a cafe and information shop but I would suggest looking online at the Lepe website for more information. There are open greens, benches and beaches for playing and resting. Also some picnic areas. From Lepe there are some nice walks, to get information on them go to the New Forest website and get the walks app. Walking east from the car parks you will find evidence of the D Day invasion infrastructures built during WW2 to facilitate the construction and flotation of Mulberry harbour caissons. Fascinating stuff for us history nerds.
R. B.
Hampshire County Council run country park with lots of D-Day history, sand and shingle beaches and walks. Great for dog walkers and picnics. Parking chargeable.
E. G.
Couldnt find a bin anywhere... we have a baby so ended up with a car full of rubbish to take home.... however... we walked along the seafront.. played in the adventure park.. sat and had a picnic in the sunshine... saylt on the pebble beach done a few skimmers...paid 7 pound to park for 2 n half hours... was a nice walk tho
S. M.
Really pleasant afternoon spent here . Car park is pay as you leave, so had to watch the time as not to go over into an hour we didn't need. Cafe and toilets are a fantastic improvement to what they used to be. Some really good marked out walks .
R. R.
Lovely cafe and an ok play park. Great for walks and although the beach isn't one you'd particularly want to lay on it is full of interesting wildlife and shells.
M. L.
Lepe Country Park combines sheltered green area on an elevated level with mostly stoney beach, both with very scenic views. A newly built dining area has been built along with new toilet facilities which are all wheelchair accessible with a ramped pathway going from top to bottom.
I was very surprised to find out that in all my 47 years of visiting this place, a cold war bunker existed in the bank we all once ran up and down (before the new building and ramps were created). It's parameter area is shown with a fence and has a periscope that is free to use to view the bunker below your very feet with information links as you view around. It's a shame this is not accessible for a wheelchair user but nonetheless, it's a gem for history buffs and for anyone local who's been coming here for years who had no knowledge of this bunkers existence.
G. M.
Lovely place to visit. Parking off peak is reasonably priced and a bag of chips from the cafe is a must 👌
S. L.
Love Lepe, the country park itself has plenty of green space, kids jungle gym/swings etc & benches along the cliff. A slope takes you down to the cafe & toilets. Beautiful views over the Solent to the IOW. Stoney beach.
K. T.
Beautiful, quiet location, recommended for a leisure-y stroll along a beach or through a park overlooking the sea. Tends to get busy at weekends in good weather but still offers a lot of space. Perfect for a day out especially for families with young children due to its open air, wooden playground. D-day remains are a mere 15-20 min walk away , which makes the location laden with history and very interesting.
D. B.
Great onshore Parking, sandy beach, public toilets, And a cafe with a glass front, so you can see across the Solent at the Isle of Wight. Easy access to the beach and a park for kids to play
S. B.
Gorgeous spot on a sunny day, beautiful walks with a view of The Isle of Wight and a lovely cafe, well worth a visit .
T. K.
Nice walks along the beach and also more sheltered path with trees and hedges. The outlook is a very nice cafe to retreat to either in rainy weather or after a nice walk or a swim.
J. M.
Wonderful little gem on the Solent with views across to the Isle of Wight . Step out of the car and straight onto the beach , no 20 minute hike . So perfect for people who have mobility issues. Great little cafe , and clean toilets . No pub or arcades ( hooray) .
A. J.
It's a great park, we rented a barbecue and when we got there it was amazing. There are a couple of barbecue places there but ours was like a small private garden. It had wooden fencing all around, in the middle there was a big and long table with benches either side of it, a couple of trees around and a bigger tree having its branches falling just above the table (like in a fairytale), the barbecue was inside this area next to the table and it came with a metal brush. Next to this barbecue place was a big field where kids were playing football and were flying kites. Next to the park are a lot of footpaths that lead to the beach and to the sea. We had lots of fun and the only regret we had was that we didn't take the barbecue for the whole day, we only booked the second slot which started in the afternoon.
It's an amazing place and we'll definitely visit again.
A. M.
Beautiful spot, we arrived early evening it was still fairly busy but not crowded. Lovely walk along the beach with great views of the Isle of White. Clean and tidy lots of parking available and lots of walks available.
R. M.
Great kids adventure play area and some lovely nature walks. A very pretty beach with outside takeaway kiosk for hot food and ice creams as well as a fairly new indoor cafe, the views are excellent.
Lots of parking and space so it's not too crowded. It's also a really good beach for dogs with grassy areas
D. R.
Great day out. Booked the small bbq would highly recommend. Area was clean and unlocked ready for us. No fuss. Helpful staff, ground keeper very nicely cleaned the charcoals out for us after we had finished. Short walk to the beach with great views of the boats and Isle of Wight. Great sea air and plenty of stones for young kids to rummage through trying to find shells. A*, would come again. Also toilets facilities close by which were clean
R. D.
Nice beech walk with views over the isle of wight. Circular walk is very good taking in beech and fields, it's an easy walk that all should be able to negotiate.
M. H.
A good day out with kids. Pebble beach so the beach walk needs protection for your feet. Bring some proper shoes for walking. Water reasonably clean. Got a small activity park for the little ones. BBQ places are there for hire. Parking easy as you pay before leaving. Card accepted in the machines. Large queue expected for toilets and ice cream kiosk on a hot day. There are some good beach just below the field a big away from main beach so usually good and quiet for families.
P. W.
Great place to visit when not too busy. Lovely playpark for young children, public toilets, easy access to beach. Cafe good for snacks etc
M. H.
Lovely area, lots of space to park cafe has decent options including vegan choices. Nice to walk along but not a lot of places to sit on the beach. Lovely views of the Isle of Wight
S. W.
Several car parks, one on the beach. Toilets and cafe (currently just kiosk with card payment only). Green picnic area. Access to a mostly stony beach. Short walk along top off a low cliff edge to a sandy beach. World war history sights and ruins along the short coast walk.
P. S.
Nice coastline walk suitable for everyone. Playpark, picnic areas, large cafe with excellent prices and outside toilet facilities if not going into the cafe. 2 Car park areas pay by card. Top car park has more space.
L. D.
Haven't been here for a while, the parking charges are definitely different and you need to only have a BBQ in the fenced section not on the beach. The cafe was closed but we have been in there before, the toilets were still open. Park normally closes at 10pm.
J. D.
Went to Lepe to go and see the staging point for the D-Day landings.
Amazing to think of all those brave souls waiting and preparing to leave some never to return.
m. m.
A beautiful area for walking, or just sitting and watching the sea. A lovely place to watch the sun set. Not a sandy beach but still ok for sitting and relaxing. There is a cafe with hot drinks, cake and snacks ..
The only drawback is the cost of parking. I remember the good old days when it was free to park....
Z. L. G.
Stunning location and the recently changed to the café by Hampshire County Council only adds to the unique appeal of the location.
C. R.
Enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach, wonderful views across to the Isle of Wight. Added bonus it was a warm and sunny afternoon!!!
D. R.
Great car park and cheap if you want to stay with a camper
S. B.
You have got everything here, glorious scenery looking across to the Isle of Wight . We did the D Day walk and the Woodland Walk which is wonderful if you enjoy watching birds and being surrounded by trees . There is also the Lepe Loop walk which is 5 miles. There is a large modern café.
r. h.
Lovely place to walk the dog and enjoy the views of the solent
A. L. A. N. G. O. M. M.
Very scrappy pebbles no sand. broken lumps of concrete laying about.
Car Park not marked out. Many cars
Taking enough space for two vehicles.
Not not good for children no safe bathing. When the tide is in very steep stones into water. When tide is out slippery seaweed.
H. Y.
Bottom car park currently closed, and top car park only has 1 paying point where you enter your car reg and it monitors how long you've been there which is helpful, only wish there was more than 1 paying point to lessen the queues. An amazing walk to see all the history, recommend going when the tide is out to get a better walk along the beach. If you're a hiker you can walk all the way to Calshot beach!
V. K.
Nice Park and pebble beach ⛱️ visit with family 👪
It's not a sandy beach; however, spectacular view and plenty of walking around 😀
There is a restaurant, toilet and parking space. The parking is a post pay, which is very useful.
S. A.
Go here often for a walk with the kids. Clean toilet facilities, has a great park too with lots of green too. Be careful when paying for a parking, instead of taking £3.50 the machine took £50! Managed to get a refund but it was a bit bit of a pain!
G.
Great place to explore with lots of space for everyone. We hired out the large BBQ area which was perfect for our celebration. BbQ had been cleaned before we used it and staff then came and cleared out coals ready for next booking. Really lovely place to go. You may have to be prepared to kindly ask people to leave if you have booked out the area as we had quite a few people coming in to join our party and we had to explain that we had paid to book the area - I guess if not in use the picnic tables are usually accessable to anyone. Other than that a really great place to explore many different areas. Right on the beach too as a bonus!
k. s.
Lovely coastal walk, toilets always clean. Cafe great, takeaway only at the moment but great for a drink and a snack. Boardwalk and sensory garden across the road. Lovely place.
S.
Very well maintained small beach, children's play area and park. Ample parking with clean and well maintained facilities.
E. M.
The is a hidden gem.
On the coast with great views of the Isle of Wight.
The cafe is open n for takeaway coffee, tea and munchies. Toilets are clean and free to use.
Parking is available both on the beach front and, if full, above on the hill just a short stroll up a wooden ramp.
Suitable for everyone.
S. E.
As lovely as ever, thanks to all who organised the beacon event, it was really great!
J.
Great walk along the beach, incredibly windy day today so we walked up along in between the trees, which helped shield us from the wind.
It's a shame that it's so expensive to park.
A nice little café by the car park overlooking the beach was perfect for lunch, it did take a little while for our food to come but worth the wait.
C. S.
Lovely place to walk, sea views over Solent, and great café
S. B.
Nice quiet place.
Only issue is owners of dog aggressive dogs having them off lead no control or care about or for anyone else. Dogs run up to everyone's dog and starts barking and you can't walk away as there dog follows you
H. C.
Parking is free for 25mins, after that it's 2.50 for up to 2hrs.
Quiet, lovely view of the Isle of Wight.
It was just really amazing to be there.
The café looked good but didn't actually go in it
S. B.
No rubbish bins near tables and benches outside the Lookout café. Could do with a sign in front of old car park entrance, I was only one of many who were bewildered that barriers stayed shut. Would also be helpful if signs at entrance to car park, indicating that car registration is scanned.
V. M.
Lovely place to visit you can relax on the beach or enjoy a walk maybe even do the lepe loop this makes a lovely walk or run ( mind your footing if running ) just a shame about the amount of dogs mess not picked up as there are plenty of dog poo bins. The cafe is also very expensive we take our drinks ect.
S. K.
Such a great place to ride a bike to. Car park is often chock-a-block. A great mix between long single beach and green open space. Good cafe with takeaway options - reasonably priced. Look hard and there are some secluded bits away from the crowds
M. W.
A June Tuesday visit. Lovely little stretch of soft sand and pebble beach, people being sensible with the current social distancing rules. Nice views across to the Isle of Wight. Beach and sea easily accessible. Gravel car park well maintained, including a clean toilet building and parking right by the water's edge, easy and reasonably priced, especially the longer you stay. Payment machines placed in various locations. Pretty walks, area dog friendly. Dog bins but no rubbish or recycling bins. Can't comment on the Lookout cafe as it's currently closed, however we usually bring our own picnic. Would've been 5 stars if not for the horrible smell of sewage on occasion when the wind changes.
L. L.
Always enjoy an evening stroll at Lepe Country Park, no overcrowded beach or play park. Dogs love the water to cool off after a walk
K. B.
Nice place to visit for a walk with the dog, great views from the cliff top.
J. D.
A narrow beach on the the mouth of the Beaulieu river. The beach seemed relatively safe for kids as it is shallow for a fair distance from the shore. It's main failing is that it is mostly shingle. Surroundings are nice though with a busy waterway fill of boats and pleasure craft. Great amenities too.
C. M.
Lovely place for a walk, beach is perfect for dogs and humans and the Easter is clean. Should have alot more benches along beach and under and around the cafe area and just like many other places it needs ALOT more bins, especially dog waste bins!!
W. P.
One of our favourite walks in the New Forest is the Lepe Loop. This is a great cafe in the car park (the start/end of the walk).
L.
Fabulous place for all the family and dog walkers .
Kids have a play / climbing area swimming in the sea , cafe and icecream .
Plenty of parking although quite expensive.
But would recommend.
L. W. (.
Lovely beach, bits of shingle and sand -watch out for tide times as low tide is quite far out. Nice cafe and wcs, car parking reasonable given that there is also a nice kids play park so you can easily spend the whole day there! Lovely wide views across to the Isle of Wight.
J. W.
Love getting out on my bike and having a coffee. But no bins to put the coffee cups in. Hunting around found one in the end right buy the keyosk. They say take your rubbish home, but when cycling out on a bike, a bit difficult.
K. F.
NOTE Sea front carpark closed due to extreme damage from storm Eunice.
Cafe open, loos open access from upper car park.
All turning points along seafront closed. You can however walk on lower beach.
k. s.
I have been coming here since the 80's. It has changed a little, due to more parking needed with a new restaurant and play area. It's clean and has an easy access down to the beach. It's a very stoney beach so needed shoes for the water. But kids had a fab time, especially when the tide went out and we could do a little rock pooling. The parking is very reasonable. Dog friendly and plenty of great walks and views.
R. C.
This is a beautiful country park, with lovely coastal walks. The lower car park is better, because you park very close to the shingle beach.
O. L.
One of my favourite local coastal areas to go with the family. The place boasts a beautiful shoreline with views across the water to the I.O.W and Portsmouth, a children's play park, pebble beaches (has sand in places), a café/gift shop with w/c and loads of hidden fields perfect for walks or picnics. A hidden gem about this park is there is actually a lovely sensory garden, bird spotting hut, boardwalk and a beautiful walkway which opens up to a huge field. My only gripe is that parking is expensive but I believe all profits go to the upkeep of the area. Would highly recommend going and is good for all ages.
C. F.
Lots to do for families with children-sandy beach but dangerous currents for swimming, cliff top walk, green area for picnics/games, childrens' play area. Also Café serving meals inside & kiosk for food, coffee, ice creams etc. Public toilets, lots of parking, disabled access to play area & Green or walks. Limited access & difficult access to beach for wheelchairs. Coastguard point on cliff with interesting info re ROC.
N. W.
This is such a beautiful peaceful place to spend the day.take a walk down the beach on a clear day you can see the island clearly.great for dog walkers too. The new centre with cafe toilets ect look great much more fitting to the surroundings. There's a nice park for children and you can take a walk through the park looks of butterflies.
I. 7.
Lovely beach, whether it's summer picnics and splashing in the sea during the summer months, or nice walks with the family and friends the rest of the year. There is a play park for the kids and a nice restaurant. If you visit a number of times during the year, then it is worth getting an annual Car pass, we find this is cheaper in the long run, and we end up visiting a lot more.
D. S.
I went to Lepe Country Park, on the evening - of when the beachside beacon was being lit for her Majesty the The Queen, In honour of her, 70th year Jubilee 2022. The Jubilee at LCP was celebrated with live music from an all ladies singing group called the 'jingle ladies' - their singing and harmonies are out of this world. The bugle players, and brass bands certainly made for an unforgettable time. The LCP was busy as you can appreciate, with the ongoing celebrations marking the achievements of our long reingning Monarch, but there was ample parking for hundreds of cars, and vehicles of all sizes, as it is such a vast area, that is amply served by all the facilities you could possibly want. The 'Outlook' cafe ( that over looks the beach and has the most amazing seaviews ) serves a good range of wholesome meals, that are real value for money. The Country park has so much to offer, from Picnic areas to Coastline walks, it really is a good day out for all of the family. Just one more thing to mention, there is more than ample parking for everyone, ( which is ANPR, and barrier controlled ) but take your credit or visa card with you, as you pay for your parking at the end of your visit, but the payment machine does not take cash. But the LCP is definitely worth a visit, and if you do so, "Have a Great Time!" my friends!.
M. J.
Good parking facility, plenty of spaces. Very nice , natural playground. Cafe normally busy.
Nice trails to walk by the sea. Stoney beach with sandy patches, interesting especially at low tide.
P. S.
Beautiful place to relax/ picnic with family/ friends. Plenty of parking space. Beautiful beach with magnificent views
J. W.
I've been to many beaches in the UK and this is one that's Absolutely beautiful! For those who haven't been there before, I highly recommend this beach!
Cafe and Toilets available which are kept quite clean.

Such a lovely place, with a beautiful surrounding let down only by a greedy council owned carpark.
A natural location at an unnatural cost.
j. e.
Lepe country park is a great place to go for a walk or to go to the beach. There's toilets available a little cafe for food and the parking is a reasonable price.
D. C.
The wife suggested we get up early and go to Lepe beach and country park, and I must say she was right!!
Got up at 6am, loaded what we needed in the T5 camper, and by 7.45am, we were cooking sausages for breakfast!
We travelled from Andover in Hampshire, so it does not take long to get here.
Nice little cafe, clean loos, which are fully open, and cheapish parking.
A lovely morning out, try it, you won't regret it!
P. N.
A lovely unspoilt place to spend some time walking and taking in the views. The cafe is Great.
D. D.
Wow what a gem if your down this way and the weather is fair you shouldn't miss this place
J. 3.
Nice walks, nice views.
M. B.
General - Sea and beach based nature reserve / country park. Time spent - half day. For who? Everyone including dogs
Pros - plenty of history. Parking. Good cafe. Great views. Live music / events see website for details
Cons - car park very bumpy. Had to leave the lambo at home. Very open so would recommend going on a nice day
R. H.
Fantastic location with great views of the Solent and Isle of Wight. Interesting walks which take you to the World War II relics, Lifeboat House and Millenium Lighthouse. There is also a brand new cafe and facilities. Lots of parking. Which leads onto the only negative. The car parks simply do not open early enough or close late enough. And there is absolutely zero parking elsewhere. Which means a nice sunset walk is almost impossible.
O. H.
Nice views & Nice beach. Lots of parking, amazing newly refurbished cafe and the toilets, as well as the new parking system. Very nice day out for allal ages. Really recommend for a family day out!
R. S.
I've been going to Keep beach since I was a small child and it hasn't changed a lot.. apart from the new café and toilets is still a lovely place to visit.
C. H.
Went to watch the sunset, very peaceful and an amazing view all the way to Portsmouth with the right weather. The sky was so clear we could see a meteor shower.
There is a parking charge.
M. D. X.
Just a perfect location for dogs, children and adults alike. Parking not so expensive when you think of the facilities available. We would come every weekend if we were close enough!
K.
Cafe was nice and the staff friendly, the food is ok but wouldn't recommend it. Had the vegetarian breakfast, it was a bit greasy and the toast was burnt, maybe their lunch menu is better...
The beach is lovely, the weather was rather poor when I went, but it was still a lovely view and the beach is beautiful to walk along - very nice and clean too!
Can highly recommend it as a day out, but maybe bring your own food.
T. S.
Wonderful, nice walking trail and beach. There is play area for kids and restaurant to eat.
L. J.
one of my favourite places. walking the lepe loop then coffee and cake from the cafe watching the sail boats and windsurfers
G. J.
Popular coastal park with great views to the Isle of Wight. Modern café catering to the visitors in a lookout type room. Barrier to get into car park on an upper, cliff top level or on the lower beach. Coastal watch team in attendance and lots to explore with ex D-day artifacts or just nature rambling on the shore.
E. B.
One of my favourite UK beaches. Drove 2.5 hours just to wander along and see the sun set here. Car parking is greatly improved since the changes to payment system. Not faultless, but much better than needing change like before.
A. G.
I always love coming to Lepe to see the water, have a walk in both woodland and coast and grab a Mr. Whippy ice-cream!
C. s. g.
I'd love to give them a 5 because it looks lovely since they refurbished it, but the price of the car park is crazy, if you want to eat/drink something at the cafe, there is always a 30/45 min wait at the queue and you cannot find a single bin.
J. S.
Lovely place for a walk by the sea. Parking is pay by time and is quite expensive in the summer. Good views over to the Isle of Wight and solent. Plenty to see boats and wildlife. Caf'e and toilets available by carpark.
W. W.
Great for family walks and chill out time on your own. A little cafe on site for those who forgot to pack sandwiches, great food and drinks provided accompanied with good service. Perfect for those like myself with a creative eye photography opportunities are endless
P. H. (. P.
Their facebook site said it was open but on arrival it was closed. No idea why. Which just means all the council charging car parks were barriered off. You can still park for free on the roads if you don't mind a walk though in summer it won't be so easy. We had a nice walk along the beach and then across a field. There are a few information boards about local history and good views across to the Isle of Wight
G. A.
Beautiful, clean and tidy beach with a large cafe and big play park. Great in all weather!
M. M.
Great place for a walk along the beach and plenty of history to learn about.
Cafe/Restaurant was busy but food was good and well catered for Children.
D. S.
Beautiful relaxing walk, toilets available if required by the car park.
O. D.
With newly refurbished parking, playgrounds and eating facilities it is the best place in New Forest's for a beach expirience. Amazing views of the Isle of Wight beeing the closest to the mainland. Very quiet, +20 by the sheltering cliff in March. Today we had Medditeranean sunshine. Second world war history could appreciated walking towards Southampton.
R. H.
Great place to take a family. Plenty of space for kids to run around, fantastic area for crabbing. They've recently replaced the restaurant that was originally there. Parking is reasonable. If you have a dog then you can take them for a stroll in the country park or along the beach (just clean up after them). All the bins are around the facilities and in the park, but if you go further afield you will need to keep your rubbish with you until you return to the car. Right next to the New Forest.
If you want arcades and rides then you're in the wrong place. This is a chill day out.
n.
Mainly stayed by the beach.nice to have the choice of countryside and beach. First time there will go back. Parking charges reasonable however the 1 in 1 out system cod be improved.
A. L.
Had a good new spacouse cafe.quiet to sit and watch people meander the shoreline and watch the kite Surfers and Clouds .when the tide goes right out wr like to walk out about 1500mtres
M. S.
Lovely place to visit for a coastal walk with the dog. Nice clean, modern cafe and toilet facilities. Plenty of car parking at reasonable prices. Only criticism would be lack of bins for rubbish and dog waste. Will definitely visit again.
S. B.
Had a lovely walk here, a great place
R. S.
Fantastic beach with stunning views my favourite beach in Hampshire, so far!
S. M.
Nice walk on a windy day, the cafe is lovely and the public toilets super clean. Better signs of where to pay for parking required.
G. W.
Nice spacious park, lots of parking on gravel, don't forget your registration you'll need it when you pay for parking. Good walking routes by the sea with plenty of picnic spots to enjoy the views. Small player area for kids to burn off energy and a new cafe down on the beach.
C. C.
Our first visit here. So peaceful, beautiful and clean, just love it. ❤️
E. M.
A beautiful place for a stroll along the shore line. Stunning views out onto the water with bustling sail boats.
R. R.
Beautiful area, gorgeous views and walks along the beach front, and I didn't think the parking fee was too bad either, my two girls, 4 & 6 loved it
J. D.
Love this beach... on a plus side toilets always been spotless..latte was good too 😁👍
C. A.
beach, walks, and play area all at one place, wonderful day out.
m. p.
Really friendly and really good views of the boats coming in and out of Southampton
Toilets and shower block really clean
T. B.
My favourite spot to chill by the sea, but also to have a nice walk, park avaliable for kids, great cafe, toilet facilities
D. C.
Lovely country park with access to the beach. Dog friendly area, with parts of the beach allocated for dog walkers. Parking is £2.50 for an hour (in peak season), £2.00 an hour (off peak), enter your car reg into the parking machine & pay the tariff at the end of your visit, (no tickets) & the barrier opens to allow you to exit.
Cafe was open for takeaway service, but couldn't find a bin near the cafe for our rubbish. Visited again New Year's Day (2022) & still no rubbish bins outside of the cafe.
Nice play area for smaller children. Good place for walking, paddling & picnics. This park is open 7 days a week, the website states that opening hours are from 7am to 7pm.
J.
This place was absolutely perfect, and my review will go to 5 stars, as long as the new development work they're currently undertaking doesn't ruin the place.
With many walks in the surrounding area, especially along the coast, Lepe has much to offer those seeking an active day out, as well as those looking for a more relaxing time in the cafe or down on the beach itself.
J. G.
Nice walks. Good views of the Isle of White.
Mainly stoney beach.
Really nice cafe by the lower car park.
Public toilets.
K. S.
Lepe Country park is a beautiful place to visit. We did two of the walks, both along the beach with one looping round into a countryside walk, about an hour and half for the second walk. Such beautiful scenery and fresh air. Very dog friendly and toilet facilities at the car park as well as a cafe. Lots of history to the area to learn about. Highly recommend a visit if it the area.
L. P.
Lovely place for a walk and the kids to have a play in the really nice park. The new cafe is very nice and reasonably priced with a good selection of food and drink. The cafe also has gorgeous views over the water. Very relaxing.
L. E.
Nice place, good walks nice coastline, nice cafe with great views, the car park is a bit pricey but worth it
C. P.
Great place to visit with family, children and dogs. Good cafe on site. Toilets could do with a re-vamp
R. “. L.
Expensive for parking however great facilities for toileting/ baby changing/ disabled access. Great for food, drink and shelter in wet weather.
J. S.
We had a great day there a nice walk and coffee a bit expensive to park
D. M.
Lovely position for walks and views. Nice restaurant right on beach. Great range of food
L. D.
Our favourite 'local' beach.
However I wish they'd provide bins. Our most recent visit there was litter everywhere.
F. B.
Lovely short walk along the beach with beautiful views across the Solent. We found the board with pictures of the cargo filled boats for WW2 very interesting.
S. S.
Lovely area to be especially on a summer's day and the view and restaurant was really nice with lovely staff there! Would recommend it
i. P.
Beautiful area with lots to do. Great cafe with lovely view across the sea to the Isle of Wight.
T. W.
Very good views over to the Isle of White.
Excellent raised cafe, the food great and the staff were very kind and helpfull
F. O.
Busy place, limited space. Paid parking. Car park well kept and happy to support but no overnight staying;( Good for dog walkers. Sandy beach. It’s probably nice walk but due strong wind postponed
S. P.
Loved it. Great place to stop. Beautiful views of the Isle of Wight. Wait for the tide to go out and the scenery changes again!
L. G.
Arrived quite late in the day but it was still lovely. Kids had fun making a sandcastle then a lovely walk. Will be back soon.
L. Z.
Beautiful place. The cafe is a stylish, new building that fits in perfectly with landscape. The canteen/ cafe serves nice tasty food at good affordable rates.
K. K.
Lovely place for a family, Christmas walk. There is a mostly wooden playground on the cliffs and a cafe overlooking the beach. Very convenient carpark payment system which scans your license plate on entry, and then you pay by card at the end of your visit.
A. J.
Parking a bit pricey, but a lovely place to visit. The cafe provides lovely food at a good price and with great views.
A. G.
Lovely open green space near the shore overlooking the iow.
Plenty of room for children to play, have picnics or just to chill and watch the world go by.
There are bbq areas and you can walk for some distance along the shore. There’s even some WW2 history from D-Day to look at as well as a nature reserve.
T. B.
Super place
Nice little beach
Lovely clean wcs
A cafe
Above apart from the sky the LEPE COUNTRY PARK begins
Glorious views to IOW
Trees
Green
Not many canine friends
Super place to spend a day
T. B.
Lots of places to walk. Toilets are very accessible. Lots of parking. Only thing is not much space in the restaurant. Otherwise would be 5 stars.
L. D.
Beautiful place to visit, however facilities a bit unreliable. Today toilets out of order and they'd forgotten to put the kids trail out.
S.
A nicely tucked away gem this is, good parking and lovely fresh walks with some important history thrown in too..
p. f.
Always a nice place to visit it is now enhanced by the vastly improved cafe and toilet facilities
A great walk along the beach with some interesting remains of WW2 infrastructure and views to the isle of wight. All types of shipping passes by from dinghy's to tankers squeezed between the island and the mainland so very up close viewing for those with an interest in shipping.
Behind the beach is a large area of parkland ideal for picnics with a play park for children. Parking is plentiful and can be paid cash or card. Hidden away just back from the front is a study center with a sensory garden walk with various public footpaths leading off.
d. “. c.
Really worth the trip for a great walk and look out restaurant
K. R.
Wonderful place with friendly staff. We had a great time walking along the beech and sitting arount the fire in the evenings. The toillets and showers were always clean. I would highly recommend this campsite!
S. W.
Great local spot, clean and good services
M. C.
Often busy, but very pleasant. Toilets are foul, but to be expected from a beach.
S. P.
It was a bit cool on the day, but the cafe was open for a coffee. Social distancing enforces and no sit down dining. The wind was high and good for windsurfing!
K. H.
Lovely beach, easy to park. Public toilets needed more soap but fairly clean. Nice cafe, indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly beach but clean! There's not really any shade so bring an umbrella!
m. a.
A very lovely place to perambulate on ones legs. Very pleasent scenery and a splendid atmosphere.
A. C.
First visit today and really enjoying it. Lovely sunny day too
P. B. (.
A really nice place to visit. The sea is interesting how it comes from multiple directions. Nice walks, fresh air and adequate parking.
S. K.
Love this place! Plenty of parking, easy machines to pay using cash or card. Nice beach/forest area for walks and a great park/sensory area across the road for children. The cafe with a view over the Solent is real bonus!
P. G.
Beautiful location. Wonderful newish cafe, 'The Lookout'. Amazing views. Get a window seat, smashing. Decent prices as well. Some lovely beach walks, ideal for dog walking. Some cracking views across to the Isle of Wight. Super children's climbing area. Lots of grass up on the top for sports and games. Parking prices reasonable, done by cameras, no tickets needed. Beach stoney but great for kids, crabbing and exploring. Great spot, full of history as well. Enjoy !
M. B.
Lovely place for a chill and walk ..only downside .my fault i should have checked cafe dont take cash.. card only..
B.
Fab place, great cafe, great park for kids, always popping here from Southampton, steeped in history!
M. B.
Nice facilities, ev charger covered in poo but didn't stop it working 👍
A. L.
Lovely place to cycle/drive to. Great cafe/restaurant. Can be a little slow on service, but that's because food made to order, still worth the wait. Car parks can get busy early, especially at weekends. Parking down by cafe/waterfront is £2.50 hour, I assume it's the same cost in the main Country Park car park. Amazing views across to the Isle of Wight.
D. P.
Great place for walk, lepe beach played a significant roll in ww2 D day ,very interesting and beautifull area to explore
c. f.
Good stop for a coffee and butty on our local cycle ride.....only downside is it takes a long time for the butties to arrive 😞
M. V. N.
Lovely stoney beach and play park for everybody. Great new cafe and reasonable prices. Parking was not to bad.
H. C. (.
Great views of the Solent.
WWII information and history.
Wetland wildlife reserve.
Cafe. Parking. Picnic area.
S. C.
Beautiful natural unspoilt coastline...plenty of parking...lovely cafe...plenty of picnic spots...super children's play area.
R. N. B. C. X.
Great little country park with new facilities but does get very very busy. The parking charge system seems to work sometimes. It reads your registration on the way in so it knows what time you arrived then you just go to the pay station when you have finished put your registration number in and pay. The gates will then let you out!
This in theory sounds good - when it works lol !
D. H.
What a great place, the kids loved it, great walks sandy beaches, not great for a push chair due to the sand, but what a fantastic place with great views.
j. p.
A great place to go for A walk with the children. They enjoy walking out into the sea when the tide is out and playing in the big play park.
d. b.
Around 6 ish in the evenings so not to busy and nice to walk around in the early evening.
M. M.
Got there early, lovely and quiet. Easy to park, cafe open for takeaway and the loos were nice and clean.
Beach was wonderful.
M. W.
Went for a walk along the coast line, what a gorgeous place, beach, ponds with wading birds and historic remains from the war. Plenty of car parking. A lovely cafe and rest area. Thoroughly enjoyable stroll
P. M.
What an unexpected find... loved it and facilities very good and dogs allowed on the non family designated areas.
J. W.
Yes, it is a beach resort but also there is excellent walks in the Country Park which is all part of your visit.
G. J.
Clean and tidy nice beach with a cafe. Parking is a bit pricey
H. W.
Unfortunaltely their till system was down and i couldn't enjoy their amazing breakfast that I had on.my last visit
Cutting them some slack as breakdowns do happen
E. B.
Lovely play area, toilets pretty clean and good fun to be had on the beach. We also visited the sensory garden which is not well signposted but is worth a wander. My only complaint would be the "one way system" to visit the cafe which involves stairs, so anyone with a pushchair or wheelchair has to go back the "wrong" way and a really long way round to get up to the top car park and play area.
T. C.
Coastal country park that has views over to the Isle of Wight. Paid parking is via a number plate recognition system. The newly opened Lookout cafe on stilts is excellent with a good views, a variety of food and drinks and clean toilets
j. c.
Another great visit in the afternoon evening g to this each. Got a takeaway in Holbury on the way down and ate on the beach (there are a few picnic tables). Then a dip in the sea which was still warm. We watched a beautiful sunset and went home. A really nice place for family time.
S. M.
Wonderful place for families. Play area for the children, plenty of grass areas for picnics, playing games. Then you have the beach. Whilst it is a pebble beach when the tide is out plenty of small pools to look for various small marine species. Food and drinks available if you need it. Overall we had a fabulous time there and have already earmarked a visit for next week before the children go back to school. It is a very popular place and there's a car park you will have to pay for but what's new! Go ahead and enjoy your visit.
S. B.
Just love this part of the coast, great place to come
N. L.
Fantastic afternoon doing the bear hunt! Love Lepe, cafe needed a bit of leadership as it was chaotic and not that busy. We ordered hot chocolate and got hot milk!!
A. O.
Car park expensive, quite a pretty beach, not very well signposted, I only went to the beach, which is separate from the country park, but no signs saying this!
B. R.
Very relaxing place. A good size cafe with foods, ice-cream, drinks and so on. Public toilet, 2 large car park and plenty place to walk.
A play ground for kids, it could be better, a little bit dated.
Car bark closes at 7 pm winter time and 10 pm summer time. I would say a little bit expensive in comparison to other similar places.
R. C.
pleasant, good weather, an acceptable meal, fresh air, sun and fun with grandchildren.
J. D.
Great open space and miles of beach front as well as view of Isle of Wight. There is also dine in cafe with takeaway. Paid parking. Paid five pounds for two hours but worth the visit. Great phone reception too.
J. R.
Walks in several directions and great views of the Solent/Isle of Wight.
D. M.
It was a lovely drive through the New Forest to get here. There is plenty of parking. The walk along the beach to the nature reserve was very nice. The view from the Lookout Cafe is stunning and the food was also very good.
C.
Great for walks along the pebble beach and around the country park
M. B.
Very beautiful place. Definitely we will visit again.
R. F.
A wonderful peaceful place to visit. Great for walks along the shore. No sand so sea bathing not easy.
Plenty of parking right behind the shore.
Excellent cafe and public toilets.
c. s.
Lovely views. Was at Lepe to attend baptisms in the sea, followed by a picnic on the large green, above the beach. Good for kite flying as it is often windy there. Usually an icecream van present in the summer months plus a restaurant on stilts. Shame the restaurant isn't utilized in the evening as there are spectacular views of the Isle of wight. Shame you sometimes have to look about for a parking space when you are a paying guest because the car park warden takes up 3 spaces with their inconsiderate parking
M. H.
Great cafe on the beach , plenty of parking ..
A. M.
Good sized car park, pleasant beach and good facilities. Free parking for motorcycles.
I. W.
Very popular. Limited car parking fairly expensive. Cafe can get overwhelmed.
D. C.
Nice little cafe, lovely play area and beach, nice for walks, brilliant for the kids to get in the water, walk and play in the park. Teeming with wild life, I had crabs checking to see what I was in the shallows and a bit further out (up to my knees) we saw what we think was a bass (fish haha) which was amazing to be close up with in the water. Go have a look!
N. D.
The nearest beach in Southampton (that I have found) that has sand. Furthermore, when the tide is out you can walk out on the spit and almost touch the Isle of Wight, its an amazing experience!
c. a.
Excellent sea views and Friendly staff and good food, drinks, all at reasonable prices
The premises and tables are spotlessly clean .Well worth a visit after a beach ⛱walk 🚶♂️
S. G.
Beautiful restful place. Amazing place to catch a sun set with a nice flask of hot drink.
c. b.
Beautiful place nice cafe lovely beach and a nice walk
T. B.
Really nice camp site... pretty good facilities, being shower, loo’s and dish wash area..
C. S.
Clean facilities, lots to do with the kids. Mind you - we visited on a rather frosty day in February!
K. C.
A great favourite of mine, all the work they have done with the cafe makes it extra special. Keep an eye out for special events in the school holidays and summer evenings too!
M. W.
Lovely views, great little cafe. Parking a bit confusing, but I'm old so maybe it's just me.
P. B.
Lovely little park. 2 carparks. the 2nd, lower one, is nearest the sea..not that the top one is far from it! Fantastic views of the Isle of Wight. Covid policies were in place, but everything seemed to be running fine. Car parks are pay as you leave number plate recognition.
A. T.
A great place to walk, the dogs love it, and fantastic views as well as a bit of history,
B. S.
Magic!!! The children (and adults too...) enjoyed digging little pools, collecting shells, stones, little crabs and whatever they could find. It was low tide, so next time we are planning to come (and we definitely will return) we‘ll make sure that it is low tide again. It was not very crowded, at least it didn’t feel like this.
There also is a wonderful playground very close to the beach.
C. L. L. C.
A lovely place to visit. I had a great time paddle boarding in the sea today. There's been many times before that the family has spent the day here too.
The lookout cafe has great food also if you forget your picnic.
L. L.
Great kids play park, beautiful views, coffee and food served at shop, sand and pebble beach.
Z. R.
This is a walk I do quite frequently, it is a lovely chilled walk along the beach. From the car park to the other end and back it takes me about 45 - 50 minutes to complete.
V. O.
It was absolutely lovely. The restaurant was great, very friendly welcoming staff, good food and the most amazing view...
D. M.
Being local myself and family always use Lepe. It's a fantastic place.
S. P.
This is situated in a very scenic and even beautiful part of the Hampshire coastline at a point where it sticks out a bit. It has superb views of the Solent and the Isle of Wight and one can see all the way from the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to Hurst Castle near Lymington. In addition it is a great location for any number of waterborne recreational activities.
D. P.
Great place to walk with kids and enjoy outdoors. Windsurf and kitesurf friendly with a shower to was gear after session. Vafe with good food.
J. N.
Stopped to have a very nice hot chocolate before going for a walk, lovely views and well managed overall.
C. P.
Apart from the very bumpy, expensive car parking, we love Lepe Beach. It's changed over the past 20 years and has a new cafe on stilts next to the lower car park.
The beach is great for walking and watching shipping; but is not a swimming beach. Sunrises and sunsets are not to be missed!
M. B.
Served only tea cakes and ice-cream. Will be nice to be a restaurant with fish and chips.
A. K.
Nice beautiful place ample of parking and space for barbecue for families...
m.
Lovely stretch of coastal waters over looking the Isle of White. Away from busy towns, instead out in the countryside, it is a relaxing and not overly busy beach. Nice cafe and good clean toilets available.
R. G.
Awesome place very peaceful and plenty of space great for taking young children.highly recommended
p. m.
Reasonable amount of parking spaces including disabled spaces however disabled parking still pays the same amount.
Nice quiet unspoilt with lovely views over to the Isle of Wight very calming.
Dogs allowed however no facilities for disposal of their waste, no litter bins either.
There is a cafe and toilets on site and a nice ice cream kiosk we enjoyed a 99.
You go to a kiosk beside the cafe to pay for parking before leaving, automated barriers work by reading your number plate.
L. B.
Great Country park for family day out
V.
Nice coast walk although not a long walk, dog freindly on one side lovely to sit and watch boats coming and going from Southampton.
S. F. (.
Really nice place to visit, very friendly staff and excellent food
K. C.
It was a really great find considering Southampton is a port area. The dribe was worth it...the toilets and place to eat and get ice cream are all close to each other. The parking on top of the hill/cliff side is cheaper than parking by the beach (makes sense). There are stairs from the cliff side directly to the beach. There's a really nice shallow part of the water where u can walk out pretty far out and just sit in the water or stand, great for family and friends. Quite windy tho.
I. B.
Really nice location with plenty of parking above and at beach level with nice views across the Solent and towards the Isle of Wight. A lot of money has been spent on amenities and revamping this lovely location however the lack of bins left me somewhat bemused.
J. H.
The car park charges are outrageous £2.50 an hour, the entry point is camera recorded, you have to enter your registration when leaving card only!
The restaurant was extremely well organised everything spotless, staff very helpful and pleasant.
The bonus the food was excellent, a small menu but good.
S. L.
Have been coming here for many years. Such a lovely place for 2 and 4 legged family. The public toilets could be better, but the ones in the cafe are a lot nicer, so at least there are some decent facilities. Food is nice but can be slow when busy. Would recommend for a good day out
E. A.
Love this beach. It's beautiful whatever the weather.
r. n.
Disappointed that the new disabled entrance is such a trek and the wait for food was long. However, when it came with an offer to provide fresh tea as ours had gone cold - didn't take this up but appreciated - the food was yummy.
M. W.
This summer The Lookout has been packed. However they have opened up a new kiosk to accommodate takeaway ice creams and chips. People can still sit inside if they choose to, but it is very busy.
Car parking is alway easy here as the gates are number plate recognition controlled. To pay you just type your number plate into the payment machine before you leave. Easier than pay and display.
The beach is very clean and I haven't seen much litter there. It is a mix of pebbles and sandy areas with a fine coating of seaweed at the high watermark. The sea is fairly shallow here in places but in others there are strong currents. There is also no life guard as you would find further along the coast towards Bournemouth.
C. S.
Beautiful Beach, great amenities & access. Toilets right by carpark. Lovely walk, lots of rockpools to discover.
M. T.
Fantastic place for all the family plus lots space for your dogs to run and enjoy
m. w.
Lovely place for a coastal walk. Parking a bit pricey, but you can pay by card.
K. m.
Very nice walk along the beach has a good cafe great day out you can walk all the way to calshot castle
D. C.
Good food, great views (even on a wet day) and welcoming atmosphere.
W. R.
Nice wal, view of IoW. Ships and sail boats. Plus d day history.
J. W.
Love this place, very calming vibe and beautiful 😍
D. H.
On a golden, late autumn day we had a perfect picnic here, watching the boats in the solent. Gave me the ideal opportunity to inflict the Isle of Wight ferry joke on my family...!!
N. A.
Very good views. Service is a hit and miss. Food is ok.
T. M.
Great place for a walk abd enjoy the scenery
Z. C.
Its was really lovely and peaceful Although we didnt really stay for long.
K. H.
Great place with amazing views. Kids loved the comb the beach for shells and spot the oyster catchers. Nice play Park and walks. Only expense is the car park and the cafe which are both reasonable. Can spend a hour to 5hours here
S. G.
Came for an evening stroll and some fresh air, play park is great for the kids, toilets were still open (9.30pm) and you could see all the lights twinkling across from the Isle of Wight. Peaceful and relaxing.
s. l.
The Look Out cafe is superb. Friendly staff great view. Walnut and coffee cake excellent. Free parking if you are on a motorcycle!
v. g.
Wide parking, with green areas and shade. Beautiful views of the Isle of Wight.
P. K.
Good facilities. Great playground. Enjoyed walk.
L. H.
You can easily spend a whole day here. Dog friendly. Decent kids play park. Plenty of car parking spaces, Sandy beach and a good cafe too.
S. L.
We love coming here, there is a little bit of sand, then mostly stones and a beautiful view. Public conveniences are nearby and a cafe and snack bar. Car park is a bit pricey at £7 for the day.
S. A.
Always different things to do, but does get busy during the summer obviously
v. g.
Wide parking, with green areas and shade. Beautiful views of the Isle of Wight.
S. G.
Really enjoyed a day out here. Long walks along the front. Nice tea and ice cream from the cafe and when the tide was out we walked half way to the Isle of Wight
M. W.
This summer The Lookout has been packed. However they have opened up a new kiosk to accommodate takeaway ice creams and chips. People can still sit inside if they choose to, but it is very busy. …
S. P.
It was a bit cool on the day, but the cafe was open for a coffee. Social distancing enforces and no sit down dining. The wind was high and good for windsurfing!
S. G.
Great spot, just be sure to get here early on a sunny day. Parking charges unreasonable.
L. D.
Beautiful place to visit, however facilities a bit unreliable. Today toilets out of order and they'd forgotten to put the kids trail out.
G. W.
Nice spacious park, lots of parking on gravel, don't forget your registration you'll need it when you pay for parking. Good walking routes by the sea with plenty of picnic spots to enjoy the views. Small player area for kids to burn off energy and a new cafe down on the beach.
K. R.
Wonderful place with friendly staff. We had a great time walking along the beech and sitting arount the fire in the evenings. The toillets and showers were always clean. I would highly recommend this campsite!
s. e.
Lovely day out
V. Q.
You can spend hours here just watching the kite/ wind surfers on the sea doing their stuff, good walks and Cafe if required.
M.
Enjoyed day out today!
A. G.
A real find today. We had never ventured to Lepe in the many years of coming to the New Forest. Staff at the Lookout courteous and quite Covid aware although we were puzzled that some staff wore masks but not all. Great 6 mile Loop walk and good views to the IOW.
p. h.
Wonderfull place for the kids and dogs, plenty to do,lexi had an ice cream and I had a pot of tea.
J. B.
Having not visited for 50 years, totally changed, no litter, refreshments at a reasonable price. Nice to watch all the various birds to watch along the shore line.
Bring your binoculars.
J. V.
I love Lepe, it's very dramatic. Lovely sandy beach to one side. Good cafe and toilet facilities, parking quite expensive, but the funds are well used to preserve amenities, so well worth it.
M. E.
Lovely place to visit. Only down side is the parking. Three areas to park which is fine but it is barrier entry with number plate recognition then you have to pay at machine which is £2.50 for 1 hour £5.00 2 hrs £9.00 all day. Fine if you want all day. But apart from that a lovely beauty spot.
R. F.
Lovely little spot where the New Forest meets the beach. Nice cafe (with fantastic views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight) with a reasonable choice of options. D-Day era remains. Seaside walks.
D. C.
Great place for a walk and great views by the sea.
C. B.
Fantastic place. Good facilities (queues on a hot day can get long for ice creams). Staff were very helpful when we needed basic medical help.
Beautiful place. One of my favourite uk seaside places.
S. G.
Really enjoyed a day out here. Long walks along the front. Nice tea and ice cream from the cafe and when the tide was out we walked half way to the Isle of Wight
D. R.
Lots of car parking space ( including some at the sea front if you are early. Lots of grassy areas for picnics and playing games, play areas, cafe, beach which was narrow, sandy with lots of pebbles, shells and seaweed. Great for water sports. Enjoyed our time there.
J. H.
Good parking easy access to beach and cafe plus toilets access good
C. C.
Lovely place for a walk with the dog, or children.
J. B.
The beach, though gorgeous is very stoney and quite small for populated days. Parking very expensive and if you need water then prepare to ask as there are no fountains I could find.
Great view of the IOWight.
W.
Only went on the beach this time. Great walk along to the spit. Talked to a sea angler. Got food and drink from the café/restaurant. Toilet facility good. Parking a bit expensive. But hey-ho what isn't these days. Well worth a day out, just pick good weather.
P.
I like this place but not sure on the idea of no rubbish bins anywhere, i also think the parking maybe priced a little high.
A. C.
Stubbled upon this fabulous spot. Well organised and laid out. Good parking.
B. A.
Great place to take the dog for a walk and paddle in the sea.
E. S.
Hidden gem beach in the New Forest. Great cafe with healthy, kid friendly food. Fun, shaded play area for young kids.
Parking is expensive but it goes to the upkeep of the facilities.
J. T.
We were staying near by and the local hosts recommended it. It sure was a lovely suggestion. The place boasts plenty of paid parking (it can get very busy though and does have a 1 car exit 1 car entry policy which I found was really good). It can be a bit tourist at some point. The local restaurant caters for both inside dinning and takeaways. The staff is very nice, portions were decent and very affordable pricing too. It was a sunny day so we have a great spot watching into English Channel. The walks along the beach and also on the sea bed (during low tide) was very pleasant. You can definitely bring your own lunch and just enjoy the environment either on the sand or on the many picnic tables provided.
L. d.
Went on a bike ride that and started ended here. It's a beautiful place and good for a paddle in the sea as not too stoney. The area is looked after by Forest England so parking is pricey but they have card payments. There is cafe but we took s pack lunch so didn't use. Toilets are available to as well
d. n.
Nice mostly sandy beach views of the Isle of Wight
W. P.
Nice place for a stroll along the shores of the Solent

Love our walk then a nice rest and cold drink in the cafe
N. S.
Fab place to spend some time - fabulous views. Great fun for small people. Keep in mind there are no bins anywhere so bring your own bin bags to make taking rubbish home easier. The food in the cafe is nice but huge queues due to Covid and rather expensive due to a trapped audience. Tasty though tiny fish and chips.
T. F.
Contactless parking payment and a lovely beach for a winter walk. Nice park for the kids and cafe, too.
A. K.
Beautiful rugged coastline. Well worth a visit if you are in the area or are looking for a nice family walk
j. c.
Best time early morning you will have the beach to myself, nice little cafe, somewhere for the kids with play area in the upper carpark, great place to walk or picnic, historic area with d day. And the sea gin clear.
S. A.
Always different things to do, but does get busy during the summer obviously
K. M.
Lovely views. Decent parking. Nice cafe. Definitely go back.
S. G.
Great spot, just be sure to get here early on a sunny day. Parking charges unreasonable.
T. E.
Lovely place for a walk or to sit and watch to wild life. Good amenities.
A. R.
A lovely walk around a well sign posted route, Lepe Loop.
Parking very pricey
R. R.
A surprisingly long drive from Totton but worth it. Park is in a beautiful location with plenty of parking especially in the top car park. The Lookout restaurant was open for takeaways but long queues on the one way system but it was the weekend. Good food, enjoyed the beach and the seaside location. Nice play area for the kids in the top car park. Only issue was lack of bins only ones we found were at the Lookout which meant going against the one way system to dispose of your rubbish after eating. Will return and venture a bit further.
L. T.
Lovely views and some interesting history but not well signed. We couldn't find the way into the restaurant, or onto the paths shown in the diagram attached to the loos. There were various remnants from the war along the coastal path but many were unmarked which was disappointing.
B. F.
Beautiful place with lovely views of the Isle of Wight. Mixed sand and stine beach. Well ordered pay car park. Ladies toilets were clean and well stocked but there were only three so there was a constant queue. Inadequate provision for disposal of rubbish. Had to search for a bin.
S. S.
A great place to go whatever time of year. The parking is very good but a little expensive.
D.
Great place. The new cafe is even better than the old one; great food at keen prices with helpful staff. And the views from the cafe are now amazing!
L. S.
Lovely views! Looking forward to visiting again in the summer.
S. K.
The parking right in the beach is currently only letting you in if there's a space. If its busy be prepared to wait at the barrier. I don't remember seeing much signage warning about it but I do remember seeing a very confused elderly man sitting waiting.
A. D.
So beautiful here and cafe is great. Nice variety of food choices. Lovely place to bring a picnic. Sandy beach a bit further along.
K. L.
Checked out the place very briefly. A good place for walk and relaxation while taking in the view of the coast.
R. H.
Great place for families and dog walking. You can park right on the beach and there is a dog friendly cafe, children play area and if course the beach itself.
S. B.
Lovely clean beach. Quite expensive parking £5 for 2 hours. Beach is mixed with shingles and sand. Long stretch of beach from both directions of the main car park.
There is a big cafe beside the car parking area. You can see Isle of Wight quite clear from here.
m. h.
Lovely beach, with a nice park for kids to play & it also has a coffee shop/restaurant, prices are a lil high & unusual menu for what I'm used too, but it's reasonably big, and you can also buy take away drinks all in all a lovely visit... But the parking I found expensive... Was there about 3 hours on a Sunday ( probably peak time) and it cost me £7.00...
But I would visit again as my grandson loved his day out x
C. S.
Beautiful as ever, even if it was cold and windy. The kids enjoyed the play park, then we walked towards Calshot until we reached the nature reserve. It was fascinating seeing the WWII remains of the Mulberry Harbour, and moving seeing the war memorial. Can't wait for the new café to open up fully, it's a stunning building. Great day out.
T. P.
Lepe is a beautiful place, one of my favourite but The Lookout cafe was very disappointing. Chicken dry n not a lot of options, which was a shame cos I used to love it there. 5 stars for Lepe Park and 2 stars for the cafe.
G. C.
Has been better the lower car park is badly laid out the resturant is not well orgsnised and even with a limited menu
they hadnt got some items.Great location.
M. G.
Had a nice visit to Lepe ...... cafe was reasonably priced and the food was very good. Likewise the parking was priced well.
L. F.
Good for exploring
Educational or relaxing day out
Nice views of estuary and boats galore!
Suitable cycle routes
P. S.
Nice walk around the area, now need to find out about the history and site. Cafe doing just takeaway. Limited food. Bacon bap was nice. Reasonable car park, three in the area. WC as well separate from cafe.
h. b.
Loved it. Really great now neen updated. Shame carpark is slightly expensive.
K. G.
Visited with grandchildren. Great play area.
Called into cafe. All good nice staff. This is car park controlled by NFDC you will need to pay. Nothing free with NFDC.
A. N. E.
What a Haven! my first visit of many more to come! Amazing day out!
A. ‘. J.
Nice open space with kids park, cafe and toilets. Parking prices are not too bad. Part of the beach is dog friendly too which makes for lovely evening walks.
D. P.
Sitting by The Solent opposite the Isle of Wight watching all the activity from large container ships to small yachts, very relaxing. Cafe and toilet facilities. Car park quite pricey.
E. P.
What a beautiful place! Cafe and toilet facilities all Covid-19 safe.
m. P.
Lovely area, great beach, superb views and the coffee shop is well worth a visit to sit and watch the solent
D. B.
Great spot for a picnic and view of the Isle of Wight
H. R.
Very interesting shore line, lots of history around D Day. Great views and good coastal walking. Not much countryside walking, very limited. Good café, parking is very expensive though
M. O.
beautiful place
amazing energy
it's a pity that it is not FREE to visit
M. M.
Brilliant country park with good big parking. This place gets sooo busy and very popular with tourists and visitors. A lovely destination to come to for swimming or just relaxing in the seascapes. Theirs some really good walks back to the watchtower passing some really good scenery and landscapes. The river bit is popular with paddlers and crabbers.
T. M.
The lepe loop walk is a nice walk with some beautiful views
J. J.
Plenty of parking, nice cafe with limited choice; both a bit pricey. Great picnic, play and beach areas with lovely views of the Isle of Wight.
a. n.
Absolutely amazing! Loved the beach, the sand, the sun, the lil snack place. Had a lovely nice staying on the beach, 2.5hrs away from London only. Good parking, pay at end of stay. Lovely!
W. A.
Myself and my family have recently used the Memory Garden facility at Lepe Country Park to say a farewell to my mum and dad. We held a private informal service in the most peaceful area of the country park dedicated to reflection and memories. I can honestly say that it was such a lovely venue for this and I know that we can visit and reflect in the future and that gives us all such peace. Thank you for the admin team at Lepe for the efficient but personal way my enquiries were dealt with, especially a lady called Laura who was so helpful.
M. L.
Drive, park, arrive at high tide, swim right in front of car, wait for tide to go out and then walk out of spit. Lovely. Clear water, pebbly entry, sandy further east. Didn’t explore park. Parking is paid and a little expensive but worth it IMO.
v. m.
Nice place to take the family and have a picnic
S. H.
Beautiful place great fie dog walking
H. K.
Great family outing on a sunny day. A small park on the beach with scenic views of Isle of wight. On a clear day, Portsmouth coast is visible too.
A. L.
Very good place to visit: you can relax on the beach, go on a walk on the path over (great views), play games, have a picnic (there are suitable tables), fly a kite or run with your dog.
There are two areas with a lot of spaces for cars (entry with licence plate recognition). A bit pricey, but not crazy. You can pay with your card or a mobile.
Toilets on the beach level, they could be bigger, but at least they open and clean.
The café "The Lookout is only serving via its window, but that's obvious in current COVID-19 situation.
E. G.
Long narrow beach with both sand and pebbles, good fro swimming not for sand castles.
N. N. R. C.
Beautiful location and a mixture of coastline and walks on the upper level.
New car parking system has been installed which can be temperamental and it's situated directly outside the toilets, which isn't favourable.
Although the money is spent maintaining this little gem.
Was slightly disappointed after visiting here for over 45 years that there are still very few waste bins and I didn't notice any recycling bins.
No concessions for Blue Badge holders and the toilets are a bit of a challenge, especially on busy day's...requires more Covid-19 safe measures in the toilets.
Beautiful new building which offers a variety of food, ice creams and beverages.
Usually we'll catered but very busy day's can cause things to be sold out.
No water fountain or outside shower for rinsing of sand and salt water.
I would still give it 5 stars 🌟
A. M.
Lovely place but very disappointed with parking. As a beach fisherman there is no where to park after 22.00pm unless you pay £15.00 to park in the coach bay outside the main carpark, and to which you have to give 48 hrs notice.in the past you used to be able to drive in to the car parks top and bottom, pay for your parking and leave any time you wanted to as you could drive out of the car parks but couldn't drive in after a certain time.why this was changed I don't know hence why only the three stars,if they made it more accessible for fishing men/woman to be able to park at night I would of given 5 stars.
G. R.
Really nice spot with lovely views across to the IOW. Great for a picnic and a couple of hours on the beach.
Recently revamped the cafe which has plenty of seating. The cafe servery is a bit odd as you can't see the menu until you are nearly at the til when it's decision time!
M. G.
Nice beach especially for those with small children or if you like watching all sorts of small boats. The country park sits behind the beach and is a pleasant contrast. You can walk for quite a distance towards Southampton along the coastal footpath. For people interested in birds there are wetlands where we saw Curlews and other wading birds. Now for the reason why there are 4 stars and not 5. Access is down narrow lanes whichever way you come in and worst of all is parking. There is plenty of it but Hampshire council does like to charge for it. A 2 hr 20 m stay cost £7.00. We have parked in London for less. Then you have the truly ridiculous parking payment machines. Well done Hampshire Council!
D. V.
Beautiful place by the sea. Exquisite views of the Isle of Wight and plenty to explore.
B. M.
Such a magical place! Beautiful seascape and beach, fabulous park and kids playground, a cafe on site. We had proper ice creams. Beautiful. Recommended.
B. T.
Lovely place for a walk, coffee, picnic, paddle
H. J.
Lovely but shame disabled people have to pay full price for parking
K. T.
It is a great place to take the children as it has a park. There is also lots of space for people who want to sit and relax for the day and there is a great cafe for you to purchase food.
A. M.
Great beach. Would be nice if the café or at least the hatch were open a bit later. Toilets weren't as clean on our last visit as they had been before.
T. S.
Great place. Food was reasonably priced and some of the best chips iv ever had. The area is nice and clean and the public toilets (can only speak for the men's room) were clean and nicely maintained.
j. m.
Parking a bit overpriced in my opinion. Otherwise lovely area.
T. M.
Beautiful and peaceful. Just need to be careful with the little ones who might get too close to the water but otherwise its recommended
d. b.
Great place loads of areas to walk plus great picnic spots also great history location for ww2 buffs
N. 7.
Fantastic beach, beautiful sunsets
D. H.
EXPENSIVE!!! I mean £5 parking for over 1 hour!!! Hampshire County Council should be ashamed! Other than that it's a nice time out at least for a couple of hours. The café "The lookout" has friendly staff and is reasonably priced with a beautiful sea view with the isle of weight set in the distance. Above the café at the top of a short cliff is a wooden structure play park which both my 6yo and 3yo enjoyed. There is open field if you want to bring a football or Frisbee but dont bring a BBQ! There are an abundance of sinage saying that this is not allowed! The beech/shoreline at the bottom of the cliff/car park, is is a mixture of sand stones and pebbles great for hunting for mini sea creatures and small crabs. All in all its great to go for a change that our usual country park but 45min drive and expensive parking means we will only be doing this once or twice a year!
D. B.
Lovely day out at Lepe today- loved the waves being whipped up by the windows
C. S.
Nice peaceful place by the sea. Parking is a little expensive
a. f.
Great venue. The hot chocolate very good.
D. R.
Lepe has a good park and a good beach. It's a very pebbly beach but the kids love finding shells, tiny crabs and whatever else they can find when the tide goes out
M. S.
Nice. You can see seals there if you are lucky. 😍
M. D.
lovely park by the sea with views out to the Isle of Wight. When the tide is right up there is hardly any beach area but plenty when the water levels are lower. There are toilets and a cafe as well as interesting D-Day relics around the area.
S. O.
Beautiful place to visit. Stunning views.. also nice cafe.
L. C.
Stunning beach and beautiful views. Only thing is after paying for parking had to call at the gate and they asked if we had paid. Dont know if they could have an automatic gate that recognises the number plate that has paid but could get frustrating on a busy day. No bins in the toilets
C. s. F.
Just stunning. Great walks great cafe plenty of parking, just a shame all bins have been removed. It's a beauty spot, put the bins back to help keep it clean.
K. B.
Always nice for a quick visit to the waterside. But if you visit with a car at the weekend be prepared to be stuck in traffic. We went by motorbike which works much better. They have free parking for motorbikes too!
S. K.
Popped in for a hot chocolate on Sunday evening whilst watching the sun go in. Beaut! It's open despite Covid, the staff were noticeably stressed but I'm just assuming it was a one off. Either way we had a good time and a great walk. Just note the car park closes promptly at 7pm!
R. F.
Nice pebble beach, playground with great views of the isle of wight. Multiply car parks, though bays arent drawn out leading to single car taking up a large space. Car park was easy to pay on exit, thoughcard only.
Bad points - finding a bin is impossible, leading to littering. The toliets are pretty disgusting, service is slow in the cafe (30min wait for chips).
D. M.
Fantastic day out has a cafe beach wildlife sanctuary to birs spot even has an adventure playground for kids
J. B.
Stunning place with lots of history
M. D.
Lovely cafe very welcome on a blustery day. I had a cream tea. The staff were very friendly and gave excellent service.
G. M. (.
Great place to take children, lots walking nice view, toilet we're clear and tidy. Cafe good place for a light lunch. Only down side you have to really search to find a rubbish bin.
E. G.
Stunning views, beautiful walks (clifftop or beach) plenty of parking by the beach front or on the cliff top, an award-winning cafe building and eco-toilet block with ramped access, large grassed area ideal for picnics. This is one of Hampshire's best kept secret beauty spots.... shhh, don't tell anyone :)
K. M.
First time there, good day out for all. Can walk miles but be aware of tide times as this will restrict your walk back. Cafe closes at 5.
The sea looks very dirty along the shoreline, its just weed but it's very off putting. Very shallow water. A long walk to the righto the cafe is definitely worth doing. Not all dog friendly during summer but dogs are allowed on some parts
J. L.
Used the bookable barbecue area with group and it all worked well. Would recommend. Nice clean toilets nearby. Would present some difficulties to elderly or disabled people.
R. B.
I love Lepe Beach for dog walking and the relatively new restaurant building is so well designed with big windows, high enough to get a wide view over the Solent - and to the Isle of Wight on a clear day.
H. C.
Lovely place to walk and look at the history of the area
m.
Kayak from here. It makes a great launch spot. But please check tides and sea conditions for safety. Slsi great for fog walking and swimming. Car parking is expensive. There is a posh raised cafe, toilets, gift shop and bins. Often see seal.
G. B.
Lovely place don't agree with parking charges
D. S.
Beautiful place to visit lovely view across the sea great play park for kids and a nice green to play or just relax
L. H.
A lovely place to bring the family. Great views of the IoW, a park for young kids to let off steam and some nice nature trails to wall round. The beach is good for a walk or a dip if you don't mind a few pebbles. The cafe is lovely and serves a decent selection and the toilets are clean enough, probably the best you'll fine at any sea side. Three large car parks mean it's easy enough to find parking too. Parking isn't cheap but it all goes towards maintaing the place so that seems fair enough. We will definitely visit again.
M. L.
I personally don't think Lepe is that great only fairly good (hence the only 3 star rating, although I nearly awarded a 4) and that it's a disgrace that the council charge cars £9 a day to park there (current prices) in the Summer months. But there's no denying it's popularity. Can only think it's down to a lack of other beach options in the area (as there really aren't any except Calshot).
T. S.
I realise that at the moment because of Covid19 I had to stand in a queue to order drinks. However, even if the drinks was done by a machine my hot chocolate was quite good.
The scenery across the Solent was very picturesque.
I would certainly return again to have a walk along the seafront.
Lepe beach was ever so clean & tidy.
J. C.
This is a nice place to visit.seem quite popular as today when we got there it was full but it was the first time that has happened. There is another parking area with a play area for children. It does require payment for parking, do check for disable, we have a blue badge but haven't paid, although we have never looked. Disabled parking is very limited. Worth a visit
B. L.
Had a delicious bacon bap and cornish pasty.
Great place to visit great for children and dog owners. Be aware it gets very busy so either get there early or be prepared to wait for parking as it's one out one in when car park is full
D. S.
Grand place, came early for breakfast with the grandson. Loves the park, if a frequent visitor it is well worth buying the Lepe car park pass. Otherwise it can workout expensive
S. H.
Car parking prices increased to £9 for over 6hrs parking - pay before leaving as number plate recognition operates barrier.
Still a lovely place to come and enjoy the Solent
L. C.
We had a lovely breakfast in the Lepe cafe. Yummy food, good portion sizes with a good price. Due to social distancing there are less tables so you possibly might need to wait for one to come available. There is however a takeaway option available.
h.
It has lots to offer everyone, beach, cafe/restaurant, play park for children (could do with a bit of updating but OK) lots of grassy areas, BBQ area for hire, fantastic views over the Isle of Wight. Good walks so what more could you want?
T.
We often go here to walk our dog, it’s local and a lovely place to visit, no matter the season.
The cafe is reasonably priced and the food is lovely.
Only downside is, when we visited yesterday the car park was a bit on the lumpy side with a few large pot holes. I think due to the volume of cars they have visiting, they should maybe keep on top of the maintenance of the car park. Still a minor complaint as Lepe is a great place to walk, and they still have remains from the D-day landing
M.
Lovely coastal area, interesting to all ages, their is plenty of sandy beach, as well as scope for rock pooling and waters ports in the sea. Lively walking area above the beach and across to Beaulieu. Also facilities to camp available to make a holiday of it.
W. T.
Lovely for walking, with or without a dog. Or paddling. Great view of The Isle of Wight. Toilets and food kiosk open. Lots of metered parking.
J. D.
Really enjoyed our walk here
S. B.
I expected more, the car parks aren't a bad size, and the play park for the kids is large with varied equipment - we spent quite a bit of time there.
The beach is sandy for the first 10 yards or so, then turns to stone, when thr tide goes out it goes out quite far, but the stones are green and everything is covered in seaweed.
The other side of the road, where the wooded area and the sensory garden are, we couldn't go into as we had dogs. We found that rather strange, that you can't take dogs (even in leads) into the woods, which made the trip quite disappointing.
J. S.
Loved this beach - very British with pebble beaches and lots of seaweed. wouldn't really plan to go there for a swim ;) but we walked along the seashore, my 4 year old collected a ridiculous amount of shells with great joy and glee and we spotted crabs in the rock pools. we had such a good time (despite a howling wind) that my child insisted on going back - every time she was asked what she wanted to do over the next few days, she said she wanted to go back to that beach (and no other!). So we went back and had an even better time with a light wind, the dogs having a fantastic walk and swim and a really excellent lunch at the little cafe. we were hugely impressed with both the food and the service - friendly, efficient and helpful. the menu was varied, portions a good size and prices not ridiculous (as they often are at such places).
R. T.
Great dog friendly beach. Only found one dog waste bin. So be prepared to take your rubbish home.
Good cafe, reasonable priced ice creams.
Can pay for your parking at the machine with cash or card. System uses number plate recognition on entry and exit.
We parked at the top as there are shaded options. There is also a great playground for kids.
Will go again soon.
K. A.
Nice place to walk, with large grassed area to play or picnic. Playground for children. Small beach with both pebbles and sand. Nice cafe and toilets. Sensory garden just across the road. Parking is quite expensive but an annual pass is available.
H. A.
Fantastic, accessible beach. We borrowed an off road wheelchair for my Nana from the visitors centre which was fantastic and allowed her to join a two hour walk and get to the sea.
Staff were friendly and helpful but overrun at lunchtime. Needed at least two more people clearing tables etc. Food was expensive for what it was, limited, unhealthy choice and poor quality. We would come back but pack a picnic.
P. G.
Fantastic open space, with a good, varied, play area suitable for young and older children. The cold war observation post is fascinating. The cafe is good (although not very cheap). The beach is pebbly and quite small but very good for water sports like wind and kite surfing (just be aware the tide goes out a long way).
Parking is reasonable though you have to go a lot to make a season ticket worthwhile.
J. H.
Lovely setting, wasps were no fun!
First and foremost this place is beautiful. Small beach at high tide. Beach is rocky in the main but fun for kids if they have shoes of some sort.
Food from the lookout - we were there on probably one of the busiest days they will get. Food was an hour wait....
When it arrived as soon as we started to eat so did the wasps. They are amazing really, appearing from nowhere! Loads of them and causing a few problems, so much so they drove us off the beach!
Country park is fun. Parking fairly cheap.
