Iain is an absolutely wonderful personal trainer. Having fallen out of love with exercise and sport over my mid-twenties I had developed a real fear of the gym and exercising in public. Three months after starting with Iain and I am stronger, happier & more confident. I am happy going to the gym and my weekly sessions with Iain are always a good mix of different exercises and training. He is brilliant and I will continue with him even when I am past my targets as I genuinely have fun training with him.

I trained with Iain for about a year and only stopped because I moved away. He met with me and immediately I knew he was the right trainer for me. He works with you to find out exactly what you want from your training, if you want to bulk up, tone, lose weight, get healthy, whatever it is, and he builds a tailor made program with you to achieve that goal. We I got to the gym I barely knew what I was doing, and with training from Iain I can now walk in confidently and really make progress. We achieved my goals, I feel better, stronger, and healthier. I've finally found someone that helped me make exercise and the gym a habit and not just a new years resolution. He is as committed as your are and will really help push you. Couldn't recommend Iain and the body shop enough.

If you really want great results in the gym, you have to train with somebody who knows what they are talking about, you also need to train with somebody who can motivate and push you to achieve things you previously didn't think were possible. Having trained with Iain for over two years now I can't recommend him highly enough in both departments. He is constantly learning more through courses and bringing new ideas to sessions both in terms of techniques as well as advice on nutrition.
Motivationally, Iain has helped me to beat a number of personal bests and pushed me hard to ensure I hit a target of dropping 8% body fat in the period of 3 months, just in time for my wedding.
Brilliant trainer and a great person too!

I started going to Iain last year to help with my strength training program as I didn't feel I was progressing enough on my own. He has been an amazing help. Every session is different - he has a vast knowledge of techniques and exercises and I have noticed a big difference in my strength. I have tried a few trainers on and off before and never felt confident that they knew a lot of what they were talking about. But Iain spends time to demonstrate, explain, observe and discuss each exercise and method and why & how it is beneficial for the body. He also gives great advice on useful stretches, recovery techniques and diet. Cannot recommend him enough.

I have been training with Iain now for approximately 2 years. He has devised several fitness programmes for me depending on my goals.
I find Iain to be very attentive and detail and technique orientated-which I very much appreciate. As a regular gym attendee it is easy to slip into old and inefficient habits. Iain helps greatly with that.
Iain is very personable to work with and always accommodating regarding appointment times.
I would highly recommend Iain for anyone who wants pressure free but focused goal driven but friendly non-pressurised personal training. Iain is excellent.

I worked with Iain for eight months to get fit for a charity walk on the Great Wall. I was pretty much starting from scratch, not having done any real fitness training for years. Iain was great to work with - it was an education in health and fitness not just a routine. And I have learned things that I'll benefit from for life.
Iain tailored each session to my specific needs and capabilities plus a little extra to be sure I was continually improving. I felt the positive effect very quickly and could feel the evidence when hill walking - I had more stamina and strength and even began to enjoy climbing demanding Munros.
I can't recommend SBS highly enough - Iain made getting fit enjoyable and, for me, that's really saying something.

I was introduced to Iain by a friend, and began buddy PT sessions with him. He instantly made me feel comfortable in a gym environment, and gave equal encouragement and attention to my friend and I. The sessions were a great introduction into training for me, being both challenging and fun. I decided I wanted to achieve more for myself so moved over to one-to-one sessions, the knowledge and commitment Iain brings to each session really inspired me to change my lifestyle, going from never having been in a gym to going 5/6 times a week, and with Iain's help, re-assesing my diet to suit my training. Iain has helped me achieve a total of 11% body fat loss, and huge gains in my strength. Most importantly for me, Iain introduced me to weight training, and the correct procedure and form that is needed to train in a way that has produced amazing results for me. I couldn't recommend Iain enough!

Iain is forthright and friendly, and easy to trust. In addition to being an excellent poster boy for his own work, he demonstrates a good knowledge of physiology and biomechanics, which is both reassuring and interesting. At all times I feel safe: he knows exactly what I'm capable of and I find myself doing things I never thought I could, and enjoying them too. No workout is boring. He is constantly exposing me to new ways of training, but also determines what it is that I want to achieve. Iain is dedicated to constantly furthering his education in order to provide his customers with cutting-edge knowledge and techniques. I don’t know if any other PT could have brought about the changes in me the way Iain has.

I was training with Iain two days a week for six months. My target was strength of course but also to gain muscle mass as I consider myself a ‘hard gainer’; that was my primary motivation for contacting Iain and getting a PT. I was not a novice to weight training but despite my best efforts I found it very difficult to push past 72-74kg weight bracket. During my time training with Iain I gained 4kg in muscle mass! Moreover, I never picked up an injury, not even a minor muscle strain. I learned a great deal about weight training from Iain that has given me confidence as I endeavour to maintain my training. I had known that the deadlift is the most lauded of all exercises but I never quite had confidence when I did it myself. During the time training with Iain I moved from a personal best of 90kg to a 130kg. I also made PB’s in the other important compound exercises the squat and the bench. I now have a greater array of exercises that I feel confident performing in the gym. I feel that the variation in exercises and training, including using kettlebell exercises for the first time, was the most important aspect in me making such a rapid advancement in my strength as opposed to just repeating the exercises that I set out to target (i.e. the deadlift, the squat). Finally, I have to comment on what a pleasant guy Iain is. He is very easy to chat to, clearly knowledgeable in what he does, but he is not arrogant either. Don’t get me wrong, he most certainly pushes you hard!! But he listens to you and respects your limitations! For anyone looking for a personal trainer I highly recommend Iain. If/when I set myself new targets in the future I will be definitely contacting him.

I have trained with Iain for over two years - I was a lazy bum with no gym experience and he has helped me very much in getting motivated and familiarised with the gym, the equipment and exercise in general. He's easy going in character yet will put you through your paces during your sessions....my glutes will vouch for that!

Looking for a personal trainer in Edinburgh? well I was and after a friend recommended Iain Sinclair of Sinclair's Body Shop I met up with him to discuss my fitness goals and needs. Having used personal trainers at various corporate gyms over the years I was very impressed with his deep and wide ranging knowledge and his open, non-judgmental manner. After a few sessions I now look forward to exercising and learning how to work out for my own bodies needs with supportive encouragement that somehow manages to drive me on without feeling self conscious or too forced. Working in a mostly desk bound job the session with Iain have improved general mobility, strength, fitness and most importantly inspired a desire to exercise that was previously lacking! I can't recommend his services enough. five stars all the way.

I've been training with Iain for just over a month and in that short time he has managed to turn me from someone who dreaded going to the gym with zero levels of fitness, into someone who loves going to the gym and exercising.
He has unending patience and gives just the right levels of encouragement, he has pushed me way beyond what I ever could have expected to do in the gym in such a short period of time and makes it fun throughout. He clearly puts a lot of thought into each session, ensuring that it doesn't get boring and that its pitched at the right level, adapting the session where needed as we go.
He offers nutritional advice and also Kinetic Chain Release Therapy, both of which compliment the sessions in the gym. I cannot recommend Iain highly enough.

I have been training with Iain for over a year now and I couldn’t be happier with the results. When I first started out with him I was a serious gym goer but I wasn’t getting anywhere. He taught me about nutrition, what to eat and when. He taught me proper form. He taught me the meaning of really pushing yourself to the limit, sometimes almost over the edge, but that’s what I asked him to do.
He takes time to listen to what you want to achieve and makes damn sure you reach those goals. I was just under 80kg when we started training. I am now over 95kg. All of which are lean gains. I have not gained any fat, in fact I have dropped my BF% by at least 4%.
Iain has made me realise my weight training ambitions and we now train together at a good intensity twice a week. I now have muscle definition I only dreamt of and feel as strong as a bear. Yes it is hard going at times but if you want to get to your goals you have to push yourself.
I also have to mention the Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) therapy that Iain offers. It is fantastic. The list of ailments it can fix is too long to begin listing here but being prone to injury I cannot begin to tell you how beneficial KCR is. Back pain, Shoulder pain, Leg pain, Migraine and even general wellbeing are all treatable with KCR.
If you want someone to give you the push you need to get to your goals Iain is the man. Every workout will keep you on your toes. Be warned, training with Iain could result in serious gains!

It's great working with Iain, he keeps it stimulating and varied, setting achievable goals. He has a great holistic approach to training, a broad knowledge of physiology and training regimes. He is vigilant, closely monitors posture and stance in order to gain the maximum from an injury free workout. His own physique, stamina and flexibility are a testimony to his ability as a personal trainer.

I honestly can't recommend Iain highly enough a really lovely guy with patience of a saint. I noticed the changes in my fitness very quickly. He pushed me to limits I never knew I was capable of
Thank you Iain.
A very professional trainer who gives 100% to his clients.

A KCR session with Ian has greatly helped after being pregnant with my second child. It has removed the tightness in my hips and back and realigned my body. This has enabled me to recover much more quickly this time round.
