I attended the Pink Elephant Presentation Skills course in Glasgow this week and was delighted to have made the trip from Ireland following glowing reviews from colleagues. The course was expertly delivered by Bill and Colin and is easily the most engaging, enjoyable and insightful training course I have ever attended. Content was excellent, the pace of the day was perfect, feedback was constructive, and delivered in a very positive and encouraging manner. The Golden rules can be applied to all communications and I left the course feeling excited and empowered to use these in texts, emails, reports and face to face interactions, determined to become an effective Pink Elephant hunter. Reading the book at the airport on the way home simply re-enforced the content of the course that day. Now to put all the knowledge that was shared into practice and eliminate the Pink Elephants! The Effective Communication training session my team and I had with Pink Elephant was nothing short of incredible. Speaking from my own standpoint, presenting to a wide audience has always been a fair way out of my comfort zone and this was an area we tackled in an honest open forum in our session. Andrew and Colin used their wealth of experience to tackle any concerns we had from the outset by highlighting some clever examples and demonstrating how to deal with a whole host of issues that can arise in a live presentation. The end result of just a day’s session was a feeling of much more confidence and a desire to put these techniques into practice. In a short space of time the guys helped demonstrate how we can communicate much more effectively as a team, inclusive of incredibly effective ways of cutting down meeting time duration whilst retaining (and making!) all of the points needed. A further testament to their impressive ability to use time more efficiently was how many topics we covered in a day, from streamlining communication with both internal and external stakeholder liaison to business reputation management. Highly recommend this session and a personal indicator of how worthwhile this was for me is how aware I am of what I’ve already put in practice. And that I finally don’t feel like I’ve run a marathon when I’ve finished a presentation!

I attended the Media training course. A short intense session with a high trainer:trainee ratio - 2:3. The trainers were both highly experienced journalists, and the course itself was very practical, peppered with real world examples and anecdotes. The course teaches some "golden rules" and uses video role plays/rehearsals with in-depth feedback, and the opportunity to immediately apply the learnings from the previous session. I also received a follow-up personalised report. The course was highly enjoyable and instructive, and I would recommend this to anyone dealing with the media or presenting at large conferences where there may be unscripted/unexpected Q&A. This was one course that was worth taking time from a busy schedule to attend.

I did a presentation skills training session this week and it was up to my expectations. I learnt a good number of tips and tricks for public speaking. I would recommend Pink Elephant to any professional that needs to engage with an audience of any type or size.

I attended a Pink Elephant Media Training session last week. It was a refresher, as I'd done it about 5 years before - but just as beneficial as the first time. The scenarios we were put through were very well thought through and specific to our work areas. The set up meant you really felt you were on the radio/on TV. Attended a 1 day course recently and firstly the premises are very easy to locate with ample parking and close to train station (Dumbreck). The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly and immediately put you at your ease. The course was delivered in a fairly informal style which enhanced the learning experience.
