I’ve been struggling to get into any kind of meaningful fitness routine for years and have always found going to the gym to lift weights extremely daunting.
I’ve been working with James since the start of the year, and for someone who usually hates exercising, it’s been great! James is brilliant at making the gym accessible, encouraging gradual improvement each week, rather than beasting you at the start and putting you off. I now have the confidence and motivation to go the a gym on my own on days I don’t have PT - something I would never have seen my self doing before training with James. I have a long way to go fitness wise, but now have the confidence knowing that I can turn this round.
I can’t praise James highly enough, he’s always positive and we always have a laugh during the sessions.

My husband Tim, met James 2yrs a go though the Matt Hampson Foundation where he has a 1-1 PT session with him. Having a spinal cord injury and being wheelchair user, his quality of life was pretty poor and he had no sense of pride or real routine after having to give up his job. His was in constant pain, sleeping a few hours a day and serious mental health problems.
Although these issues are still present. With James’s coaching, friendship and encouragement he’s learned to channel the pain into something constructive. He’s given him structure, belief and purpose to keep pushing forward and fighting his injury.
He’s lost 4 stone in weight and has a passion for life again. The nutrition advice James gave Tim really helped us both to eat in a much healthier way.
Every session with James just lifts his spirits, he kept him going through lockdown with zoom sessions and YouTube workout routines. The difference in him after a session with James is unbelievable. It keeps him lifted for the rest of the week. Seeing what he did for Tim, inspired me to get fit and healthy and I used his Youtube videos to start my own fitness journey. Again, another 4 stone weight loss for me too.
James excels every day, seeing him overcome his own disability leaves everyone inspired and drives all his clients to do more.
He doesn’t care what ability or disability you have. He adapts to your needs and pushes you to achieve things you never thought possible. All the while improving your fitness and making you stronger. He never lets his own disability stop him being there for everyone else. James is completely selfless and has turned a dire situation into a unique gift and ability to help others transform their lives.
I’m not sure where Tim would be today if he hadn’t been lucky enough to have had his life transformed by James. I can’t rate him highly enough. Thank you James for giving me my husband back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been having weekly personal training sessions through the Matt Hampson Foundation with James since early summer 2021. These sessions have greatly improved my strength, stamina, overall fitness and confidence. James is very approachable, and is a very encouraging and motivating coach. He offers support to try new things and encourages me to push myself. James has a great sense of humour and his ability to empathise and understand challenges faced by people wirh so many different disabilities is admirable. I started trainning with James a few months ago. In that time myself confidence has grown and my fitness has improved. As a PT is creative and thinks 'outside of the box'. Despite the fact I'm a wheelchair user James has found wide range of exercises I can do in order to get fitter. He pushes you to your limit, but doesn't make you feel pressured. Since starting my training sessions with James in mid July, I’ve seen a huge change in my body, and my athletic performance. I am a high level epee fencer and my training needs are quite specific. James took the time to understand my training needs and made sure that all relevant muscle groups were worked fully. Training with a dedicated, motivating trainer, made the sessions a lot easier than it would have been doing myself. The physical change his work

I’ve been training with James for just under two months now. Was already relatively fit but always wanted to lose excess fat and tone up. Having a 6 year old and 10 week old means it’s hard to find the time to get out and train but having heard positive reviews of James through word of mouth I was keen to book regular sessions with him. It really helps keep me in a routine with regular booked sessions and I’m pleased to say I am already feeling the results. He’s great at knowing when I’m struggling as well as when I could lift more weight. It’s amazing how much we fit into the one hour sessions and I look forward to many more. I have had the pleasure of being trained by James (Sutty), for 4 or 5 months now. Every routine is adapted towards my level of mobility and Sutty will often make the 'impossible', possible, through knowledge and technique or use of equipment.
The physical workout is only part of each session, as his infectious smile and huge levels of energy never fail in leaving me feeling motivated and happy with myself.

Having never been in a gym in my life and having some health problems I thought for so long it simply wasn't for me and that my health problems would forever stop me from improving physically. However James convinced me to at least give it a go, telling me the gym was indeed for anyone and everyone and it was nothing to be nervous about.
Have to say he was absolutely right and since I began I feel so much better both physically but more importantly in mentality and mindset. Something I didn't think possible at all.
Obviously James knows exactly what type of training works best and how to start at the correct level. But more importantly his motivation is infectious, making you see that just the smallest improvements with consistency can lead to huge changes.
James is an absolute inpsiration and I Can honestly say without his motivation and support I wouldn't have made that step through the door. I will be forever grateful for the help he's given. I stumbled across James while looking for a personal trainer that specialised in people with a disability. I have Cerebral Palsy and were just looking to generally get moving a bit more and build a bit of strength all over. James has really helped me get motivated and want to get training more. He doesn’t let my disability get in the way of our workouts, if my disability makes it difficult to do a certain exercise, he adapts the training to something that I can deal with while still achieving the same end result.
The way he demonstrates and explains the exercises makes it easy to understand and take back to my own workouts in the gym, knowing that I’m doing the right thing to reach my individual goal. The sessions I have are always fun and tailored to suit my own needs, it really shows that he is passionate about what he does.
James is always smiling and his enthusiasm for what he does really shines through. Knowing a bit about what he has had to deal with and what he has achieved so far, really makes you feel that he can help you along the way to achieve your goal.

2 years ago I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I was at the point where I couldn't leave the house and when I did the anxiety attacks kicked in pushing me towards suicide.
I started training with James in January 2018 and wish I'd found him sooner!
He's such an inspiration and a really great person. Since training with him my anxiety attacks have gone from 3-4 a day to roughly 2 a week!!
He has completely changed my life and mindset for the better, his encouragement and enthusiasm really keeps you pushing to get that extra rep or the extra weight to lift.

I’ve been training with Suttie for around six weeks now following a spinal injury from a snowboarding accident. I was big into my strength training before my accident and he has enabled me to get back into training again by adapting my workouts to suit my abilities, strengths and weaknesses.
He is a very motivational individual and has an ability to push you through work outs and make it fun at the same time, how ever you are feeling he will always manage to put a smile on your face, I would highly recommend him to anyone who asks.

This has left me with a real lack of balance and a very questionable sense of gravity and coordination, I tend to fall over a lot... I've been working with James for about a month now. As I’d researched potential PTs online I’d been inspired by James’ journey, his focus & determination to push through his disability to achieve his goals. We were introduced to James through the Matt Hampson Foundation for our 14yr old daughter who has recently been diagnosed with FND. James has been her PT for three months now and he has played a pivotal part in her recovery.
He has guided her carefully through her sessions, working to get her physical strength back, using different equipment and techniques. He understands her limitations and ensures her training is safe and fun. She gets stronger every week, and has enjoyed every minute of her training. He knows when to push her more and when to hold her back. He has a true passion for fitness, and knows his stuff.
However, arguably you could get that with most PTs - the thing that makes James different, is he gets it, he understands the challenges faced by those with disabilities, and he is a incredible mentor and friend for us all.
You will struggle to find someone with a bigger heart and who genuinely cares for everyone he knows. He has supported her through her emotionally challenging days, making sure she walks away happy, and will always listen if needed.
