Before I started, I was skinny, had no muscle and often suffered from lower back pain. It became one of those now or never moments to improve myself and gain knowledge I can use in the future to remain fit and healthy. I never had a personal trainer before and worried about just having a generic trainer, but I found Rich and he just fit all the needs I wanted. Right from our first meeting, I found it personalised to my needs and goals. Within a few short weeks my back pain had gone thanks to the strengthening of back muscles and my posture greatly improved. With Rich’s advice on training, calories and technique, I saw rapid change to my body’s shape and strength. I’m more confident now than ever, especially in a gym, where I’d never been before. I gain so much knowledge and understand training a whole lot better thanks to Rich. He doesn’t just show you, he teaches you and explains how it all works together. And if I ever needed anything he was always a quick message away and was always kept track on how everything is going.

After visiting a number of consultants and physiotherapists, and trying various forms of medication for lower back issues and getting nowhere, I decided to see a personal trainer to see if we could work on strengthening the rest of my body so that my back wasn't taking the strain.
I spent a little under a year with Rich, one session a week, and the results were incredible.
Rich diagnosed my problems better than any doctor had, and within a few weeks I was seeing improvements in my strength and, most importantly, reduce back pain.
Over the course of the next few months Rich developed gym programmes specifically designed to target the weaker areas, and before long I was confident in taking on physically challenging tasks without the worry of injury.
Rich's knowledge of the human body, and nutrition are second to none and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for results; whether it's injury recovery like myself, prepping for a physical event or simply getting into shape.

Before I started training with Rich I was unhappy with my appearance and had tried pretty much every diet out there to shift the weight I gained living the student lifestyle. From the first session Rich made me feel really comfortable and knew my limits better than I did! Although I didn't have much self-confidence, Rich had faith in me and I soon noticed my weight decreasing and my strength increasing. He gave me so much advice about nutrition, macros, recipes and supplements. He seemed to know everything! He was incredibly patient, empathetic and full of encouragement. Before I started having sessions with Richard, I had experienced so much inconsistency with training and also with my nutrition; I was really motivated but I seriously lacked any knowledge of how to achieve the goals that I had in mind. When I first started with Rich I was in a lot of back pain and I mean a lot, constant aches and sometimes unbearable pain which restricted movement!! Rich was very very patient and made me feel at ease straight away. My main goal was to lose the back pain and build up my strength, throughout the 3 months I struggled with a lot of the exercises, range of motion etc. But Rich was always there with an alternative and got the best out of my training! I felt so much better and pain free!! He also started my education on nutrition and went into why and how it effects the body the way it does which helped me understand it that much more! I was experiencing constant discomfort in my lower back and muscle wastage in my legs because I couldn’t train them properly and my relationship with food was incredibly poor.
It had got to a point where emotionally and physically I was incredibly unhappy and in pain daily.
Working with Richard has allowed me to overcome these issues and even though this hasn’t always been easy I now feel generally more calm and content and I am 100% more confident in my own body.
I have worked with other trainers and created my own plans in the past but my body dysmorphia and injuries have always got in the way and I have struggled to achieve my goals.

When I started working out, I thought I knew enough to do it myself. However, only when you really start trying to improve your muscle strength and tone do you realise how difficult it actually is. I found I was doing a lot for little gain. The muscles I wanted to improve upon were just not improving. This led to frustration, which made me decide I needed support.
I didn't have any reservations at all about training with Rich. I did my homework and I knew that I needed expert advice to get me where I wanted to be. I just had to have the patience as it takes time to become stronger and more toned. It doesn't happen overnight.
Physically I am in the best shape I have ever been in. I am stronger and more toned. Mentally, I have learnt how important it is to eat right when you work out. I also have an understanding of how to build and maintain muscle. This is something I won't ever lose. Yes I may not work out every week, that is life. But now I know how to build that muscle back up and how important it is to stay healthy. So even if I don't work out for two weeks, that understanding is there and that means I will always workout.
Working with Rich helped me understand how to build muscle to change my body shape, eat correctly and maintain my muscle strength. This means I now have the knowledge and understanding of how to build muscle for the body shape I want and maintain it for a long period of time
If you want to see real results, get a real understanding of how to eat and exercise for your own specific goals I would definitely work with Richard. He is very knowledgeable and ensures you get the very best out of your workouts for your lifestyle.

Training for over a year with Rich I have become leaner, stronger, more confident in the gym on my own and have dropped a dress size or two. All thanks to Rich who has given me guidance, shared his knowledge and given me support. He doesn’t let me plateau, he keeps pushing and helps me reach goals - my latest being completing a Full Tough Mudder - I never knew I had it in me! Richard was an absolute star, before I was training with him I was in a right pickle was unhappy with myself both physically and mentally I was on a right down. But training with him once a week for just under a year was the best thing! He helped with my confidence made me feel 100% better about myself and he was always someone to chat to.
He’s a great laugh too, and I would recommend to anyone looking to get into shape and stay on track! I learnt so much about eating and training and really enjoyed pushing myself! I lifted weights heavier than I ever thought I could! Don’t get me wrong the sessions were super tough but they varied and that’s made it easier to stick with.
I’ve taken away all the tips he gave me and still working on myself now just in a different city otherwise I would still be training with him now!

Before going to Richard, I was consistly exercising and getting nowhere. He taught me not only the correct and safe way to train but also nutrition and the importance of nutrition to my training regime.

After years of yo-yo dieting and never really achieving the results I wanted I made the decision to join the gym. As someone who, at that point, was extremely overweight it was a daunting prospect, one of the first trainers I came into contact with was Rich and not long after joining the gym I decided that if I was going to make the right changes this time, I needed support and he was the perfect person to help me. The reason I chose Rich is because at any point I encountered him, he always was welcoming and answered any questions I had in a way that made complete sense to a fitness novice like myself. The differences that training with Rich has made are not just physical, although that was my goal originally, the improvements to my mental health and well being have been a major bonus, along with greater confidence, I have more energy, sleep better, improved posture and balance – none of which I would have achieved with out the help support and knowledge that rich demonstrates. Rich is awesome at what he does! I've spent a year training with him due to back problems and lack of fitness. His knowledge expands beyond what he needs to know to do his job and as his client, you are his number one priority.
Rich shows a huge amount of empathy towards his clients and will teach you everything you need to know about nutrition, fitness, health and well being.
Over the last year Rich has taken me from limited movements, back pain and muscle spasm, to being able to apply for the British Army and not needing any pain relief. He has taught me how to eat and cook healthily, and how to be mindful of my body, especially during training.

Awesome guy! After doing some solo training, Rich taught me about building and refining. His knowledge on nutrition was first rate. Now after working on a program with Rich, I can train solo again, but totally focused on what I want to achieve (build, shred etc). Totally recommend BEYOND PT!
