Talking with an expert such as Joe was really helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We opened some boxes so I could much better appreciate the scale of my proposed purchase. I was struggling to decide on a new backpack for my camera gear. I wanted a manageable size of pack, but one that would take a mirrorless body and Sigma 150-600mm lens, tripod, water bottle, and a couple of smaller lenses.
Having bought a few things from Wex I knew their staff would be the ones to advise me. Liam was very patient talking me through the various options, and happy for me to walk away and have a further think.
I ended up ordering from Wex on-line, but It was great to view the products in person and have a chat.
All the staff here are very helpful, friendly, and not at all pushing to make a sale. A refreshing change from other stores.

Before buying some equipment I wanted to try it. The Bristol folk (and Ryan in particular) were able to get it in (the next day), and let me try it.
Definitely a better way to buy things than on the web; so if you get an offer from Wex in your email and want to see the gear before you buy, call your local store even if the online stock system says they don't have it in. They can get it very fast and you can then see it and try it.

Superb customer service from Sophie on Sat 11th Dec 2021. I was buying a mono pod and not sure what i wanted. As a long term buyer from Wex online, I recently visited Wex Bristol to discuss updating my lighting. I needed to speak for quite some length on different options, technical details and future requirements. Liam was superb and dedicated a lot of time to helping me and I was really impressed with his customer care. I called into the shop and was dealt with by Ryan Thomas. They had the 3 cameras I wanted to see, Nikon Z6 Canon R6 and the Sony AZ III. It was useful to be able to handle all 3. Ryan was knowledgably,, spent time with me advising on lenses and with no pressure to buy, a very good service. I purchased the Canon, all 3 were good products the Canon simply felt right in my hand. I will be buying more lenses from Ryan. WELL DONE.
I had been undecided between the Canon 24-70mm and the 24-105mm lenses and ordered the 24-70mm. when I fitted the 24-70mm to the R6 at home I realized the lens was far heavier than the 24-105 (200 grams heavier) I had handled. I phoned Wex Photography in the morning and spoke to Steven the Manager, as I had not used the lens could I swap for the 24-105mm please? No hesitation "absolutely" came the replay, to be fair he said we had not been able to show you the 24-70mm in store. .
This is what I like, I am dealing with proper people with an old fashioned proper customer service.
As an aside if you are looking for "a go to main lens" the 24-105mm is a lovely weight. I have only just started shooting, but my initial impressions are that EOS R6/USM lenses are astonishingly good. WELL DONE ALL ROUND

The tripod itself seems an excellent, well made, high quality bit of kit at a very reasonable and affordable price.

I visited the Bristol store looking for advice on a new Fujifilm camera/lens purchase a few weeks back. Liam was immensely helpful. I felt completely unrushed and it was clear that he is very very knowledgeable. I often feel a bit overwhelmed by camera stores but Sophie was so incredibly helpful and generous with her knowledge that I felt really comfortable in asking many of the questions I had. To find easy parking for a city centre store, friendly approachable staff and even a coffee machine in the corner is quite remarkable. I thoroughly recommend a visit!
I went back again today and was lucky enough to see Sophie who was again super helpful and patient with my indecision. Not only that but she reminded me of a beautiful photo project which is perfect inspiration for what I'm currently working on. Thank you :)

One of the legs on my Manfrotto 055 tripod became dislodged and I failed miserably to repair it myself. I took it to WEX in Bristol where LIAM repaired it while I waited without making any charge. I am looking for a new Sony camera so visited the store and was met by Sophie who took all the time I needed, which was quite a lot, to go through all the features of the A9 and A7R4 and all the range of lenses available to ensure I made the right choice. Being a professional Sony user, she was amazingly knowledgeable on all the features the latest models had and for what purposes each had their own advantage. She was very patient, never distracted and went to every length to ensure I would make the correct choice, ultimately leaving that decision to me. The store is very well stocked so every model I wanted to look at was available to test. Liam is super helpful and knows video equipment inside out, I've also found he'll always give you an honest answer based on what you need. Went to WEX Bristol looking for a travel tripod, to be honest, I didn't really know what I wanted. I browsed for a while and then Steve came over and offered me some friendly advise guiding me through the Tripods they had on offer, he is very knowledgeable, I bought the Calumet CK802 and a Manfrotto 494 head which I am very pleased with and I am sure that they will do the job in Africa.

Have visited this place on many an occasion, particularly for the open days which had in the past been great. Went in again 3 weeks ago as been looking for a gimbal for my camera system.
Sophie and Hannah, and like wise, Hannah and Sophie, are two individuals of whom the majority of the retail trade in the uk could use as a 1st class example of customer service. Their interaction with customers is top notch, it's friendly, open, funny, but above all, informative as they are both into their photography and videography, and, Sophie is a dab hand at making a cuppa, once the kettle is plugged in!

Went to wex to get the a7rii second hand, spend some time talking to Liam, and came out with the a6500 and I am as happy as it gets. He was right, not only is the camera body perfect for my needs and loads cheaper, the lenses are loads cheaper too. I now have 5 sony E-mount lenses for the a6500, some wide, some prime, whereas previously I was looking at saving up for years to kit myself out with all the FE-mount lenses I would have needed for the A7rii. I am properly grateful, and I pretty much always buy my lenses from wex too, unless they dont stock it

I came to Calumet in Bristol as part of an Experience Day Seminar event on the Canon 7D. During the breaks we were given the opportunity to look around the store.
Overall this is a great camera shop with some very knowledgable and friendly staff, who definitely know their trade. Calumet has a large selection of products in-stock, most of which can be handled and experienced for that great pre-sales experience.
Prices are good and generally in-line with internet pricing.

Basically, if you are an enthusiast or professional photographer or somewhere in between (pro-thusiast?) then whatever you need is available right here. They even still sold old school film cameras when I went, so there you go. Reminded me of my first camera all those years ago, a rectangular 110 with the spinning flash cubes on top.
I bought a DSLR for my son's photography course and found a nice used model for not too much, but I saw some on display costing more than my car! So something for most budgets. Just don't expect to find cheap point and shoot cameras, that's what your phone is for
