Great customer service and selection of equipment. Opening times are quite restrictive (at least for myself,) so I'm hardly ever able to visit. I was disappointed to find Elvis wasn't real 😄. I suggested they get a Caiman or Anaconda if they wanted to keep thieves out, if a "proper" crocodile was too much hassle to house. 😉 You know, you can buy them, just need the CITES license.

There are very few shops like this left in London, and the UK in general where you can truly try the Crown Jewel lenses of photography in a comfortable setting and dispel myth and rumor with knowledgable staff who are in it for the long run. Every staff member has a different (sales) style so you may find that you bond well with one over the others — that was my experience and I was lucky to land with someone as nerdy as I am (Ash) who guided me to exactly the thing I was looking for.

I have browsed the Old Street shop a few times (Leica paradise) but just made my first purchase online. Lens arrived next working day in superb packaging and great condition - in fact, at least one grade better than was described online. Went to Red Dot as a recommendation from a photographer friend. I was looking for a Leica Q camera. I found the shop extremely friendly and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. They are family run and the owners were great. After a few cups of tea and a good look at the camera I decided I wanted one. The one thing that I found outstanding was there was no pressure from anyone to buy the camera and they gave me great advice and because of this I am now a Red Dot loyal customer. I had to wait 6 weeks for the camera and I have it now. Great shop and service, great owners and great staff. Thanks to Ivor, Elaine, Ashley and Francis.

I have dealt with Red Dot online, telephone and in store. I’ve never received anything but service. Someone made a comment about real Leica Service is only at Mayfair, but it depends on what you class as service. I have shopped in both and find Red Dot more accessible. Ivor, Elaine and the rest make you feel welcome and are very happy to chat Leica . I was in there yesterday after driving down from Nottingham and I wouldn’t travel that far for poor service.

Most of my experience here is attending the Leica Akademie as their workshops are superb and mostly run by experienced working professional photographers who are highly respected in their field. Obviously during lunch or before the session starts you get chance to have a wander around the store. I don’t look like your typical Leica Owner. Leica camera’s and lenses are not exactly cheap but they are the best. This has caused me issues in other branded stores, especially B&O in Manchester, but I am treated with respect and genuine friendliness in Leica Mayfair I have come to the conclusion that it’s because I am a Leica user. My biggest issue is that they have some gorgeous lenses, camera bodies, flash guns, straps, bags....that only a huge win on the Euromillions would help. Thank you all for treating this odd older grumpy person with friendliness

Red Dot Cameras is a fantastic store with wonderful people. I’ve been trying to get there on recent UK trips, finally made it and a seemingly simple visit to their store exceeded my expectations. Ivor and his family were welcoming (even Pumpkin the dog), and it was just so cool to get a hands-on show-and-tell of both current and vintage cameras and lenses alike. Leica users and devotees are knowledgeable and seek smart, insightful, collegial and skilled people to shape their experiences... and that’s exactly what you get here. Coincidentally, I had also popped into the Leica store in Mayfair on this same trip — which was just okay. The staff were somewhat friendly but not too chatty, and the vibe was a little clinical. Conversely, a visit to Red Dot was warm, fun and well worth the time. The vintage collection and special/rare pieces alone were so cool to see and handle... (which you don’t get at the other store). And, of course, everything you would expect to see that’s currently in production was on display (and then some), too. I am so glad to have finally made it to Red Dot, and would buy from them in a heartbeat... (especially with the VAT refund for those who don’t live in the UK). Whether you’re a casual Leica fan or a hardcore devotee, you should absolutely go check them out. I think it’s important to recognize excellence and service. I would much rather take my business to Red Dot vs. an online retailer or big chain store. Red Dot is clearly the ultimate place to do that. Thanks again for your time and insight, Ivor!

Great shop to test all Leica equipment (new/old). Visited the shop multiple times before purchasing my first Leica and putting a deposit on a lens. Can put 10% deposit on item and pay off within three month period - great if you want to put an item aside but don't have the cash that minute! Doesn't matter if you're buying the cheapest or most expensive item, you get treated the same. Gave good advice in helping me choose the right package (lens and camera).

Having been told by my local camera shop that my Leica m2 was not repairable due to spare parts not being available for that model, £25.00 charged for the information! I let my camera sit in its case for a week or two then I decided to look on the internet and instantly found Red Dot Cameras, London, I liked the web page so I emailed them and had a swift reply from Brian stating they had the parts and could repair my camera, I posted it off and had a detailed quotation for repair and service which I accepted, I was kept informed throughout the repair, I now have my camera back in pristine condition. The service and knowledge of this company is outstanding and I would recommend their professional service to anyone and will use them for all my Leica requirements in future. Called in to Red Dot and left them an old Summarit Lens that badly needed a service. Considering the lens is over 50 years old I wasn't sure what to expect. I have it back and it is perfect. I've wanted to go here for ages, but the crazy opening times have prevented it. I finally managed to go to get a second hand Leitz lens. In addition to the Leica collection they also have a wide range of Billingham bags and premium quality camera straps and accessories. So it's a good place to go check out even if you don't want to get a Leica. Red Dot loses one star because the opening times prevent me from going any time other than working hours. A definite destination for camera geeks.

M'eh. If they have something you want at a price you want to pay then yeah, online is fine and delivery is fairly quick. Anything other than that I've found on a number of occasions they're a little lacking. For advice and help London has better options with more knowledgable and cheerful staff.

Run and owned by knowledgable Leica fanatics Ivor and Elaine Cooper and their friendly team, the shopping experience at Red Dot is always special.
