I'm so glad a friend told me about the Body, Foot & Leg Clinic. I have been in pain for over a year with my foot/ankle and already, after 3 visits, the pain has diminished by about 75%. Mhairi is very friendly and professional and explains everything really well. Jenny, the physio, is brilliant too. She really got my foot moving and was very gentle when manipulating it. The premises are lovely and modern too, with pleasant waiting area.

Brilliant. JD did kinetic chain release twice on me and the results are really incredible- my leg length discrepancy is much reduced and my back problems have reduced considerably. Always a great service with Mhairi. First went here a couple of years ago when I was having issues with my hip and my knee. Mhairi analysed the way i walked and jogged, showing me what the issue was - which was really useful. It was quickly diagnosed that orthotics were needed and they've made a big difference to me since. Been back for regular check-ups and always a nice atmosphere with good chat!

Prior to being treated by Mhairi at The Foot and Leg Clinic, I had spent various amounts of money on insoles and products that were advertised as being able to ease my calf pain, or correct my posture, or generally give me the piece of mind I was looking for. Sometime around Easter 2019, I visited The Foot and Leg Clinic for a consultation. Mhairi was excellent, carrying out a full assessment and very quickly diagnosing the problem. The solution was custom orthotics, and throughout the whole process (assessment, picking up the orthotics, aftercare) Mhairi was first class. I feel like I wasted so much time and money prior to going to the Foot and Leg Clinic - I will never again go through the GP visit/referral to physio/massive waiting list endless cycle. If I have an issue with feet, gait or posture, I will go straight to see Mhairi Friel at The Foot and Leg Clinic because the quality of care and expertise is outstanding, not to mention very good value. Finally, whilst there I mentioned to Mhairi that I was concerned about my son's posture. She told me to bring him along the next time I was there and she assessed him as well, reassuring me and pointing us in the right direction for further treatment. It is not every health care professional that would be able to deliver this quality of care, so if you are having any doubts at all whether or not a visit to The Foot and Leg Clinic is for you, be absolutely reassured that you are going to see someone at the very top of the field who will find the solution that is right for you! I've injured my feet and ankles numerous times playing sport to the point that just walking was difficult and painful. Mhairi's treatment plan helped reduce the pain but also dealt with the underlying cause of the problems which was great. I’ve had trouble with my foot and ankle for years now and I’ve spent a lot of money on foot orthotics which weren’t helping me at all; in fact they were making my feet worse. My friend recommended the Foot & Leg Clinic to me and I couldn’t be happier with the service and results that I’ve had in a really short time. I felt very welcomed by Mhairi who is friendly and professional. She listened to my concerns and carried out a full assessment and explained everything thoroughly and gave me exercises that have been helping with my ankle issues and plantar fasciitis. On my second appointment I met Jenny the physio who is also so friendly and welcoming and puts you at ease straight away. She chats away to you while manipulating the bones very gently in your foot and legs and the difference has been remarkable. I’ve even been able to get back to exercising which I haven’t been able to do for such a long time. If you have any issues with your legs or feet definitely book an appointment as they really care about getting you better.

Usually a strong, fit woman who loves being outdoors; I’ve been so debilitated by chronic Achilles Tendonitis and the consequential changes to my gait and physicality I’d become incredibly depressed. Having tried physiotherapy, medical acupuncture, orthotics prescribed by a podiatrist and eventually paid for a private MRI which showed severe thickening of the tendon I continued to hobble about. The things I could do had become so limited I could see no way of getting better; the G.P wrote me a script for anti-depressants and put me on an eight-month waiting list for (more) physiotherapy. I've been suffering from muscle pain on right side of my body - back, hip shoulders - for a few years and no amount of massage or yoga was helping. Then last year my foot and ankle started to get painful after being on my feet all day at work and whilst googling for solutions I read that problems with your feet can be related to body aches and pain! I came to Mhairi's clinic for a biomechanical assessment following a series of lower limb sports injuries which I found difficult to shake off. The assessment itself was thorough and very insightful. The best thing was it allowed me to appreciate why I had developed injuries in the first place as well as how I could improve biomechanically going forward. Mhairi is highly knowledgeable and fully explained the data from the assessment and the best way I could improve. She then fitted me for custom insoles which were ready within a week and started a course of foot mobilisation, which I have continued since. Since then my most recent injury has been resolved and I've felt a noticeable difference in my posture and day to day activity, as well as being able to return pain free to sport. I have also found the insoles to be worthwhile compared to off-the-shelf varieties I've had in the past. The clinic is a great place to get sorted out. I would highly recommend.

I had suffered from pain in the ball of my food and my big toe (caused by sesamoiditis and high arch with added misalignment in posture) for 1,5 years. Before attending the clinic I had a steroid injection into my big toe and was recommended orthotics to complement the treatment. The service I received at Mhairi’s clinic has been excellent, the orthotics really helped with the pain and after wearing the insoles for just under a year now I can enjoy pain free walks and gym workouts, and am intending to take on running again. I’m delighted I don’t have to wear the insoles at all times anymore and enjoy activities pain free in my regular shoes too. Mhairi also treated my foot with foot mobilization massages which really helped release stiffness and I also received physio exercises to strengthen my foot and also other weak areas in my body. All in all, excellent service and highly recommended.

Having visited the foot & leg clinic a few times now, I can honestly say it's been the best decision! Staff are always super friendly and very good at pointing you in the right direction. When I went there I had agonising knee pain after a very big hillwalk and was recommended an appointment with JD Peacock. He was quick to figure out what the problem was and provided relevant treatment, I went from barely being able to walk up the stairs to renewing my gym membership after a couple of appointments. I've also had a lot of back tension(coupled with scoliosis) which causes me migraines and impacts my day-to-day a lot. JD suggested a massage therapy for this, which has already helped immensely - very happy I found this place and would highly recommend!

I'm currently being treated by Mhairi for a foot complaint that had stopped me from running for months. Within 2 weeks of attending the clinic (allowing for time to let the injury settle), I was back running without pain. So far, I have attended the clinic for my initial assessment, had 2 orthotic shoe inserts and had 2 shorter drop-in follow-up appointments with Mhairi and it has only cost me the price of my original assessment. I honestly cannot recommend Mhairi and her team highly enough. I had ongoing issues with bunions and was in a lot of pain when I first came to see Mhairi. The foot mobilisation treatment I received over a number of weeks did wonders and improved my condition significantly. I gained a lot more flexibility and movement in my joints and have had little to no pain in my bunions since starting the treatment. I have also received custom made insoles which have also been fantastic and helped a lot with both the bunions and knee issues I have experienced in the past. I thought I would not be able to run again pain free and was pretty disheartened. I had major issues with my legs for years. So much so that I couldn’t run for 10 minutes, without pain. I’d pretty much given up hope of being able to again. I was analysed by Mhairi, who put together an action plan to address the issues (that stemmed from my feet - no one else had considered that) - not long after, I was out running and pain free. I need to manage how much and how often I do it, but regularly running 30km per week and just completed my first half marathon. It was so worth it to get to where I am today.

At my first consultation various problems were identified quickly due to a really in depth bio mechanical assessment and analysis. I was advised for best results and to relieve me of my symptoms that custom made orthotics were needed. After receiving my new orthotics I felt the difference instantly and then started going for Foot mobilisation sessions which also improved the condition of my feet. If you are experiencing pain or problems then I highly recommend you book in for an appointment with Mhari and her team, due to the complex nature of my problem I see the massage therapist aswell, not a lot of places can offer an integrated approach with massage therapists, physiotherapists etc, information can be communicated professionally between each clinician and the roots of your symptoms dealt with quickly and effectively before things get worse. First class service every time and an excellent new location in Hyndland.....

Been going here for about a month now and its been an absolute treat! Ankle/foot is back to nearly 100% and light running again after hardly being able to walk. Everything about the clinic has been brilliant and if you think there is no way back for the pain/condition you're in you have to get a full gait assessment, it will change everything! I took up running in earnest at the start of 2017, but by the middle of the year, I was having major problems with my knees, along with my back, hips and pelvis. After months of physio and osteopathy treatment, I turned to Mhairi to get an overall picture of what was wrong with everything from my hips downwards. And I've felt great ever since! Within minutes of stepping into her clinic, Mhairi made a visual diagnosis of a fallen arch of my left foot, with a slight collapse on my right side too. Further examination on a running machine confirmed the diagnosis, with in-soles suggested as the best way forward. Although these are pricey, it has been more than worth it. The pain in my knees is almost gone and, although the in-soles are part of a larger/longer rehabilitation programme, I hope to be back running soon. Thanks to Mhairi for your professionalism and friendly nature!!

Mhairi is a real star. I have bad ankles which really impact my ability to walk pain free and Mhairi has worked with me to help get this sorted out. I first saw Mhairi a few years ago when she sorted out some orthotics for me. Since then, she has revised my orthotics and worked with me using FMT to help reduce my pain and to help me be mostly pain free for the first time in many years. When I first started to see Mhairi, I was constantly in pain and unable to walk very far at all (I'm only 50). I despaired of being able to get out and about and do the things I enjoy doing outdoors. After a lot of hard work and direction from Mhairi, the pain has almost gone and a couple of weeks ago when I was in Berlin I walked for miles and it was a lovely change. I don't know where I would be without Mhairi, I can't recommend her highly enough.

Initially visited Mhairhi to assess my 12yr old daughter whose foot was turning in and affecting the position of her knee and hip. I have been experiencing a lot of pain over the last year due to plantar faciatis ,which has resulted in me having a lot of lower back pain. I first attended Mhairi’s Foot and Leg Clinic at Hyndland as i was experiencing pain when walking, even though I already had a custom made orthotic. I was recommended by a family member to use this clinic after he had pains in his legs for years. NHS told him it was due to wear and tear and age. He visited and got orthotics and has never looked back. I have suffered from back ache for a number of years and was trying to get a bit fitter but my legs and ankles just weren't allowing me to walk due to pain and burning sensations. I went for a biomechanical assessment and was told/shown on video how my body was out of alignment. Our daughter had insoles from the NHS, however she was still having pains in her knees if she tried to run or when walking downhill. After taking her to see Mhairi and Roisin we discovered that due to her posture (due to lack of muscle strength) and the position of her hips that this was causing the problems with her knees and feet. This is a long overdue 5 star review to Mhairi and Jenny. I had been suffering from lower back pain for about 8 years. I had visited many physiotherapists that were no use in fixing my problem. I gave up on many of my hobbies, including running and kitesurf. It wasn't until November 2020 when I had another lower back pain flare up that I decided to go to The Foot and Leg Clinic where my partner was being seen for her foot problems. It was actually on my first appointment with Mhairi that she pointed the actual root problem of my lower back issues. I had Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD). Basically one of my legs was more than one centimetre longer than the other one. It seemed I also had flat feet. So, Mhairi made me customized orthotic insoles with a raised heel on the shorter leg. It was then Jenny who did the rest of the job with physiotherapy exercises, to fix my imbalances and strengthen my body. 2 years later I am fitter than ever, able to run for 1 hour continuously and training to go back to kitesurf in spring next year!! A million thanks to Mhairi and Jenny!!

The team here have been instrumental in getting me back on track after a motorbike racing injury some 12 years ago. The (ankle) injury flared up recently and is now settling considerably. Mhairi worked some kind on magic on the bones and significantly improved flexibility to a more useful level. JD then took over with Kinetic Chain Release to get poor body alignment corrected. This was the result of the body compensating for the weakness at the injury site. Had an amazing experience here. I have Scoliosis and have had troubles with a sore back from walking most of my life. I was recommended here from a friend and it was by far the best recommendation I've ever had. I have searched for years about advice for my back pain and haven't really had any luck. Within half an hour in the clinic i got more information that was clear and undarstandable then i had ever recieved. I was told that specialised insouls would help the imbalance in my step due to my scoliosis and would make a big difference in my pain. They were not wrong!!!!! Great experience - went to the clinic after spraining my ankle midway through marathon training. JD was really helpful and knowledgeable, good at putting people at ease, and knew exactly when I was ready to get running again. Has got me up Kilimanjaro and up to 5-a-side. Great chat as well to distract from the foot adjustments! Any one who has feet/leg/hip issues should definitely give the clinic a try as it can be much more effective that physio etc.

I visited the clinic for foot pain: in the past I had been a bit frustrated with physiotherapists who seemed reluctant to deal with feet, and podiatrists who seemed not to be very good with working with active people and would only recommend rest and orthotics. Mhairi instead looked at how the muscles were working in my foot and prescribed exercises which I can feel are making a difference. She explained things really well making me feel more in control of what's going on. If you have tried various things to no avail I would definitely recommend giving the clinic a call.

I cannot recommend Mhairi highly enough! I have been having pain on the top of my feet for years and found Mhairi through Google following an unhelpful consultation with a podiatrist right after the first lockdown. It got so bad towards the end that I was unable to walk for more than 10 mins without massive pains and had to give up all exercise. Managed to get an appointment with Mhairi right away and after a full review she diagnosed me with flat feet and gave me some custom made insoles along with giving me exercises to do at home and bimonthly foot mobilisation appointments. The money I have invested in the appointments and insoles have been the best money I have ever spent and after 10 months of wearing my insoles and going to appointments, I have managed to overcome years of maltreating my feet and go back to walking for 2 hours straight and doing high impact exercise classes with no issues! I even got my partner to go see Mhairi after years of chronic lower back pain and he is now being treated for leg length discrepancy with insoles and physio appointments which are starting to get him on the track to recovery! I met her after over two years of failed phsio, and the biomechanical assessment really helped me to get targeted treatment. The podiatry treatment and insoles made a massive impact. I cannot recommend Mhairi enough! Her expertise is second to none. Having been through various NHS services for pain in my hips and feet and having no success or explanation I didn’t have much hope. However after one appointment with Mhairi, she was not only able to pin point the problem and explain my pain clearly, but came up with a clear treatment plan which resulted in me being pain free after a few months of intervention. I would highly recommend the foot and leg clinic. Before I attended I had suffered for years from pain in my shoulder and tended to limp when I was walking. Eventually, it was extremely painful to walk. Mhairi and the foot and leg clinic were recommended to me and I have never looked back! Mhairi quickly diagnosed flat feet and one leg shorter than the other, which was causing the limping, pain in my feet and shoulder pain. She took casts and had insoles made for me, with one insole raised to ensure my legs and feet are at the same level. Mhairi also recommended that I wear high stability running shoes, undergo some physiotherapy and do pilates as well as strengthening work at the gym. Since then I have had some follow up appointments to manipulate my feet so they are aligned correctly. Mhairi also gave me a number of exercises to perform daily in order to strengthen my feet and legs and maintain the positive progress I have made. Mhairi and all her team are warm, friendly, helpful and approachable. Mhairi takes the time to share her expertise: explaining why the pain or discomfort is there and what she is going to do to fix it. I trust Mhairi completely because she is a true professional and her treatment has made such a positive difference to my physical health. I am now able to enjoy walking again without pain in my feet and shoulder and through the physio, gym work and pilates, I am gaining strength and stability. Fantastic experience at the Foot and Leg Clinic! They managed to squeeze me in at short notice to look at the pain I was having in my feet before I completed the West Highland Way. Katie gave me a full Biomechanical Assessment of my foot and ankle and explained why I was having the issues which put me at ease that with a little effort they could be sorted! I ended up taking the plunge and getting a custom Foot Orthotics which has been a life saver! Albeit painful at first I can already feel a massive difference after only 3 weeks of wearing them. I've been back twice to see Mhairi and she is great, really chatty which takes your mind from her working her magic and manipulating your feet. After my session on Monday night I felt like I had a new pair of feet! If anyone is having any pain in their feet (mine was the ball of my foot when I walked) then I wouldn't think twice about going to the Foot & Leg Clinic!

Having come to the end of the road with the NHS, I decided to try the Foot and Leg Clinic and I just wish I had discovered them sooner! Mhairi diagnosed the problem straightaway, fitted some custom-made orthotics and produced a list of exercises to help rectify a problem which has been years in the making. Regular foot mobilisation sessions help greatly with pain and flexibility and she is currently carrying out shockwave therapy to try to repair soft tissue damage. Slowly things are improving and and I can't praise her enough for her understanding, knowledge and professionalism. The whole team are so friendly and welcoming, it makes the 4 hour round trip a pleasure.

I started seeing Mhairi a few months ago with weak ankles. Spraining and going over on my ankles was a usual occurrence and I was in a lot of pain. This was due to 20 years of reoccurring damage. I also found out that I was severely flat footed and was measured and fitted with shoe insoles which I have been wearing for a few weeks now. Not only do I feel a difference but I have not sprained my ankle in months. The foot mobilisation that Mhairi does can be a bit painful but she has magic hands and I always feel so much better after my appt. My partner found the clinic website whilst looking for services that could aid my recovery from a serious leg break which left me immobile for 18 months. After an email discussion with Mhari we made an appointment for a consultation. From the off I was impressed with her knowledge and understanding relating to my circumstance. I was given a thorough examination and Mhari then talked me through what the issues were arising from my break and subsequent surgeries. A plan was put in place of hands on manipulation of my ankle, exercises for me to carry out and small adaptations to my footwear. The improvement in my mobility is magnificent from where I was when I first struggled into the clinic on crutches.
