I have found Apos Therapy really helpful. . After wearing the boots for a short while my knee pain was massively reduced and I was no longer kept awake at night by the pain. The exercises Maureen has given me have also helped.

Diagnosed with osteoarthritis in medial knee joint with an extensive degenerative in the posterior horn with very little meniscus tissue remaining. I am forever grateful for being offered Apostherapy by Bedford Hosp. Maureen Wicks has supported me throughout, I am currently pain free. Its incredible. Thank you

This programme has been a revelation! When I started the course I was in pain when I walked, could only walk short distances, and when lying in bed my left knee hurt because it couldn't straighten. The original pain has gone, apart from when I force the joint, and I now walk a mile and a half twice a day. The only limiting factor is the frequency with which I wear my boots. When I am away from home during the day I tend to wear my boots less and I notice the difference if this goes on for any length of time. My target is to get back to my previous levels of wearing my boots to ensure continued excellent progress.

I am amazed at the difference that apos therapy has made to Me I have a problem with My right hip and before before I started the therapy I was in constant pain from it. After just two days of wearing the shoes the pain started to subside and I started to walk a lot better I can also get up and down stairs a lot better I have just had My second appointment with Maureen Wicks and would like to thank Her and the team for the improvements in My life. I would recommend anybody to try this as an alternative to surgery.

A truly life changing treatment. Before Apos the arthritis in my hip was so bad I was in constant pain, had problems sleeping, had to curtail significantly the activites I love, was popping prescription painkiller like smarties and even had to go up and downstairs on my bottom! Within a few short weeks of starting my therapy I was painfree, living painkiller free, able to resume activites like badminton, had no problems sleeping and complete confidence in my movements. It truly is a real life miracle as far as I am concerned. Maureen, who delivers my therapy, is personable, professional and encouraging. She is with me every step of the way and is always happy to answer my many questions. I cannot thank her enough and I cannot recommend highly enough the Apos therapy. Thank you Apos and Maureen from the bottom of my heart, I am forever grateful to you!

When I was informed by my consultant at the beginning of 2020 that I needed two new knees, I asked if there was any other option due to the coronavirus problems in the hospitals. He referred me to Apos Therapy, which was being sponsored by the NHS in Bedfordshire and that has changed my life. Prior to my first appointment at the end of February I couldn't do my daily one hour walk which gave me so much knee pain I could only managed 10-15 minutes before I had to stop and I also had great difficulty climbing up and down stairs. But once I had the shoes fitted it changed my life immediately. Within weeks I could walk again without pain and didn't have to climb stairs holding onto handrails.
Now 10 months later I feel my life has been turned around from having so much pain in my knees and the thought of having operations for two new knees, that has completely changed and I am now almost back to normal with no knee pain, I am walking more upright and at a faster pace than I was a year ago.
I would recommend anyone to have this Apos Therapy and get themselves back to normal without the surgery for replacement knees.

I am in my second year of APOS therapy, having had my first consultation in March 2019.
Prior to my first appointment, I had had to go to the doctors, as I was in so much pain I could hardly walk, the tablets I was given didn’t give much relief!
The first five months of therapy was learning to adjust to wearing the boots and gradually increasing time worn. I felt the benefits almost straight away, I certainly was not in so much pain anymore.
From August I was moved to Parks Therapy Centre, where I have been seeing Maureen, who has been brilliant at tailoring my therapy and discussing ways forward.
My goal was to be able to walk without pain when on holiday and outings, and longer term to get a dog and be able to walk regularly for exercise for us both.
I have enjoyed holidays in both Yorkshire and Devon where I have been able to walk much further and for longer.
In February 2020 I achieved my goal in getting a little rescue dog called Toby, and take him out for his walk every day.
I wear the boots for about five hours a day now as my routine in work, and thankfully a couple of months at home in lockdown didn’t have any derogatory effect on my progress.
This therapy is helping my mobility, pain and posture, and also preventing the need for invasive treatments or surgery. If you put the work in with the therapist it really does work!

I was referred for APOS Therapy via the NHS and had my initial appointment in January 2020. I have arthritis in my lower back, one knee and one hip. My referral was for the knee which was causing me much pain and not improving with physiotherapy. A knee replacement had been suggested but I was adamant that it would be as a last resort only.
At the initial appointment I was asked many questions pertinent to my condition, had my walking assessed by the therapist (Maureen Wicks) and also via a computer program. Maureen then fitted me with a pair of APOS boots and configured them to the required 'setting'. I was then asked to repeat the walking exercise and, very much to my surprise, I felt the difference in my gait immediately. At home I wear the boots daily as specified by Maureen.
Over the course of the months following, I have found that although I am not pain-free 100% of the time, it has greatly reduced in both time and intensity. My stride has lengthened and I am able to walk much, much further than when I started AND without the aid of a hiking pole which had been my almost constant companion for about a year.
I takes time and a willingness to wear the boots daily but it has reaped rewards for me. I have just had my second assessment (third appointment) and I was so happy to see the improvement made since the last one (the video of me walking the last time and today shows so much improvement in both the speed and the way I am walking).
Thank you, Maureen - you are a star.

APOS Therapy? I thought it won’t work! How can it work?
I LIMPED to my first appointment in March 2020. Then Covid-19 and the lockdown came, so no follow-up appointments. However, I wore the boots according to instructions but I was still sceptical and in some pain and discomfort from my hip.
To air my concerns, I had a telephone conversation with the most supportive Maureen who encouraged me to persevere and carry on wearing the boots.
I did – all summer and beyond - and noticed some improvement. However, I had a ‘relapse’ in October but I persisted.
I WALKED to my second appointment in December 2020 with no pain!
After seeing my improvement, a friend – who is limping at the moment – has asked to be referred to the APOS Therapy. There is no better recommendation.
Thank you Maureen, APOS and my boots!

Having played a lot of hockey for many years I was in a lot of pain with both my knees. Couple this with an occupation that involved a large amount of kneeling and my knees were very swollen and painful. Having worn the boots for over a year now, I feel completely different. I have much less pain and no swelling. I have even just started Couch to 5k.

I started Apos Therapy in March 2020 at the Parks Therapy Centre just before the lockdown. I was very sceptical that wearing these special shoes would make that much of a difference. I had been suffering with left knee problems for years and it had got to the stage where I would wake up in agony and know that i would have to either bend or straighten my left leg in order to release the pain. To move the leg was even more agony. I was taking pain killers during the day and at night. I was resigned to the fact that I would have to have a knee replacement at some point. No longer! After a couple of months of religiously wearing the shoes and following instructions I really felt a difference, the swelling on my knee went down considerably. It is now 6 months on and I no longer have to take pain killers and I don’t wake up at night. I cannot recommend Apos Therapy high enough, even in 6 months it has changed my life. Try it you will not regret it.

For almost 2 years I have used the Apos Therapy NHS service at Bedford. This is such a help to me and my knee problem has improved dramatically. Wearing the boots involves commitment but it has certainly proved to be worth it for me. The pain is so much improved, I can now climb stairs and walk much further than I was able to previously. I feel as though I have recovered my ability to get about without constant pain. Maureen is a competent and very pleasant therapist. I can definitely recommend trying Apos Therapy.

My 83 year old Mother has been going to Apos Therapy for about a year now and there has been a significant improvement in her ability to walk. Suffering with a hip problem which came to a head when she collapsed and was unable to walk or put pressure on her hip, she is now walking with renewed confidence. Maureen Wicks at the Bedford clinic is an absolutely delightful person to work with. Everything is explained perfectly so as I and my Mother can understand what is happening. Each session is clearly showing the progress and the benefits from this therapy.
My Mother is in a much better place now and is able to do a lot more than she could a year ago when we first started. With Maureen's help, I am sure my Mothers progress will continue and help alleviate the pain that she suffers from her hip joint. Thanks Maureen, see you again soon.

I have had my apos shoes since November 2019. I could not imagine they would make much difference as my walking was a slow rolling gait. I am now wearing them for several hours each day and my walking speed has doubled and is much more flowing. I would strongly recommend those and keep wearing to get full benefit.
Many thanks Maureen
Trevor Lingley.

Been using APOS for the best part of 3 years and they have been brilliant in monitoring improvements in my walking using my APOS boots and adjusting things at each visit.
Thank you Maureen for your understanding since taking over my treatment and your guidance in recognising where changes were needed.

After having been diagnosed with osteoarthritis two years ago I was recommended by a colleague to try the AposTherapy programme. AposTherapy has changed my life, I wear them every day for at least an hour, many times not because I "need" to but just so that my knees stay in "shape". I tore my meniscus in my left knee last year and AposTherapy could adjust my shoes to leave me pain free and I have not had to have any surgery on the affected knee. AposTherapy has given me a new lease on life and I highly recommend this programme to anyone with osteoarthritis and contemplating knee surgery. I am not saying that I may not need surgery in the future, but for today?....I have Apostherapy

I've had Osgood-Schlatter Disease for over 10 years. In other words. Growing pains in my right knee... After 3 days of wearing the shoes. The pain reduced loads. After a month. Wow... I can walk, run and stand still with less pain and hardly any! Driving was a real burden so painful in the past... These days. No issue at all. The treatment works and the pricing/facilities/customer service etc excellent. My general posture and balance/walking style has improved as well.

I have had two knee operations - the most recent one being in February when I had a meniscus tear. During this time I was also told that I have arthritis and there is almost no cartilage in my right knee. I was quite upset about this as I was thinking I will have to limit everything I do as I could barely walk. However, I was recommended AposTherapy by Bupa; I have to say it was the best thing I have done.
I went as a referral and thought how are they going to help me with shoes. I was a little sceptical. The consultant I saw said that they will be able to help me, although it will take time, but overall, I should be pain free soon or at least walking better than I was. I should add that I was limping and walking quite slowly.
After watching me walk and analyzing how I was walking on a machine, together with the width and length of my stride, they fitted me with some shoes. Almost immediately, I felt less pain and after wearing the shoes everyday for the prescribed time, I am now able to walk pain free. I have seen the consultant a few times now and each time, my stride, gait and walk is better. I don't have pain in my knees anymore and am able to walk normally as well as take my dog on long walks again - the last walk being 7 miles.
So if you are suffering, please try this -even if it’s one consultation. AposTherapy is something you should consider.

After being advised to try Apostheraoy by my consultant (I'm 52 and needed a knee replacement due to a trauma to the knee several years ago) as he felt it offered me the potential opportunity to defer the operation as I am currently too young.
I was unable to walk without pain and could walk no more than 20 yards without stopping to rest my knee. It had become life altering in every sense, my leg was never straight but always half bent, i woke numerous times a night with excruciating pain, I had to have adjustments at work to allow for my lack of mobility, stairs were not an option, and I kept a folding walking stick with me at all times. Constant pain was my companion.
I approached this treatment with positivity and hope. The staff are so warm kind and profesional.
My assessment appointment saw me demonstrate the bizarre gait I had developed over the years, watched by my personal physiotherapist. He then fitted me with my own pair of training shoes, adjusted the discs and asked me to walk across the room. I did so and to my absolute amazement I walked upright and with a straight leg, I turned to see my sister tearful saying she hadn't seen me walk normaly for years...I never wanted to take them off.
A few more little adjustments to reduce the small amount of pain remaining in my knee during use and I was given a plan on how often and for how long to wear my miracle shoes.
I found that taking advantage of my bodies muscle memory and my remembering how my knee felt and worked during use I could apply that when not wearing them to further help my treatment.
One month in and I no longer woke at night in agony. Walking was so much easier. Six months in and I am walking around town, walking up and down stairs easily and I no longer fear shopping trips. I am doing pretty much everything I used to do. I'm off on holiday soon which involves walking everyday and I can't wait.
My knee replacement is no longer looming around the corner and life is so much better.
For anyone considering this or as in my case advised this option please try it, give it a go and embrase it's potential...It may well introduce you back to the old you again. I hope it does, good luck.

I am a Physiotherapist and Apostherapist who has used this treatment with many of my chronic pain patients and indeed personally to control early onset arthritis in my hips. For me, this treatment has enabled continuation of an active life without surgery or painkillers. It is likely that I will need a hip replacement at some point in the future but delaying that time is important as I am only 49. It’s a game changer for many patients but of course no silver bullet and there are a very small percentage of patients who get little or no benefit from it- just as is the case for surgery and medications! At least with Apos there are no risks or side effects.

I had a right total knee replacement six years ago , had a slow but good recovery and returned to social dancing which I loved .Eighteen months ago I was utterly depressed when my left knee 'gave way' . I ended up in extreme pain ,on 2 crutches , and was a candidate for knee replacement . A friend advised I have an assessment for Apostherapy . I was very sceptical , being an 72 year old retired NHS Chartered Physiotherapist. On first trial I had reduced pain, and began to walk with more normal gait. I was totally dedicated to the use of the calibrated boots at home , and it paid dividends . Within 12 months I went on a 6 week retreat to northern India , my first time there , and managed to keep up with all the students , some half my age ,walking on very uneven ground !! I hope to return there again at the end of the year. My quality of life overall has been transformed . Whether you are a very active or not so active person , loss of mobility and pain can be devastating . If you are a suitable candidate for Apostherapy , it can help you regain at least some, and in my case much more of that precious gift of an active life without pain.

My consultant informed me 18 months ago that my right knee was beyond all surgical help and that the only solution was a full knee replacement. I'm active and working and really didn't want this but was having difficulty geting around without considerable discomfort.
I was asked if I would consider APOS therapy if they (APOS) considered me suitable. I agreed and after a consultation with them I was accepted onto the programme.
Today I had a follow-up session with Alistair at ICE clinic in Ampthill and was shown the figures that indicated that all of my measurements were 'normal': that is compared with a person with no known walking problems.
I regularly take 4 kms walks with my wife around the nearby Forest Centre, climb stairs etc with minimum difficulty and pain. I take NO pain killers or prescribed medication only selected supplements specific to joint pain; omega 3, glucosamine, chondroitin, magnesium plus Emu oil.
If I had been told after the initial consultation that in 18 months time I could be like this I would have given a King's ransome!!
Anybody with knee/hip problems shoild give APOS a serious try as it's without any doubt the best thing that could have happened to me!!

I have been having Apos Therapy since October 2019 in Bedford.
Maureen has been a fantastic physiotherapist and explained Apos Therapy to me so well even though I probably ask the same questions every time!
I honestly can feel a significant improvement already. Thank you

I was diagnosed with tendonitis in both knees following MRI scans early 2015. Walking up and down stairs, long drives and kneeling at that time could be incredibly painful. I began Apos Therapy almost immediately after diagnosis and within a few months felt a huge benefit. Twelve months on and I experience very little pain in any situation and I'm back to full mobility!

My wife was told that she needed knee surgery to stop the pain and constant swelling, but was very reluctant to undergo the procedure. By chance I saw the AposTherapy advert and suggested it could be worth trying.
Within seven days of first contact she had a thorough examination by an Apos therapist and to her delight a treatment plan was arranged. After a few week's, pain was a thing of the past and her knees have never been swollen again. Now three years on, the things she thought were lost to her, she can do again.

Two and a half years after starting AposTherary following diagnosis of arthritis in both knees, pain levels have reduced considerably and mobility is much better than before. Able to cycle and swim regularly and go hillwalking again. Just wish it was available on the NHS!

From start to finish, always welcoming, friendly and professional.
Specialists always keen to receive feedback on treatment and experience using the boots; progress and any setbacks.
Assessment of current gait and effect of boot settings very thorough and good to discuss experiences and effect on walking/standing.
Very pleased with progress so far (after 5 months).

This helps with my flat feet pains, knee tweaks and back pain too.
It's like doing biomechanics exercises - but instead of a few times a day, you're doing them the whole time the shoes are on. Really recommend this system.
R. G.
Brilliant therapy. First night after visiting their clinic knee pain packed and left...whoever had that nasty pain have to visit the smiling patient staff to explain over three hours how their system positively works. Apos takes you back to normality. Please give it a try. Thank you Apos.

My husband had them few years ago and it's the best thing that's ever happened for him brilliant

AposTherapy has helped me so much wish I'd found it sooner. Brilliant
