Footballer, tennis player, physiotherapist
Before starting Alex's program, I was struggling to stay consistent with my training as well as not knowing whereto start with beginning weightlifting. I felt like I had lost some
of my gains in season through lack of consistency, which was frustrating me..
To be honest, what Alex said he could offer me sounded like it would fit. Alex was pretty clear on the fact that he thought he could help me and was clear and how we would go about doing that. It sounded good, so I just jumped straight in.
I think my first big breakthrough was getting an understanding of weightlifting.I had plenty of background knowledge with powerlifting, but
weightlifting was foreign to me.I now feel like I'm able to first of all, get into the positions
needed for weightlifting but also get good training sessions in, the numbers have gone up every week since we started and I feel like I'm making steady gains.
I can snatch 50 kilos now after never having done a snatch a matter of weeks ago and I can now clean 75kg.all of which while training and playing in the football season.
I recommend Alex for anyone looking to improve their knowledge and understanding of weightlifting, anyone who wants to
achieve goals in the gym, improve the health, recover from injury, and anyone who's after an evidence based, no nonsense approach.
Alex is very knowledgeable and caring.
He takes a lot into account when he programs for you and he's with you each step of the way.
It has been great. I would recommend him to the beginner weightlifter, the struggling athlete or anyone who's stuck in a fitness routine that they aren't really happy with.

I reached out to Alex because I needed a mentor to help me in my journey to become a great personal trainer. The reason why I choose to work with him is because he is a physiotherapist and a strength coach, which in my opinion is the perfect combination to excel as a trainer these days plus the fact that he is always up to date with the latest research and only uses evidence based method. Alex is also a very caring person and easy to talk to. I can easily discuss my concerns with him, and he is always trying hard to make sure I get the best learning experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to achieve their fitness goal, especially those who have certain barrier they want to overcome

As a weightlifter, I am used to having various aches and pains. However, I had been struggling with shoulder pain in particular for several years. In fact, I had been advised by some health professionals that I might need surgery.
Alex was the first person with weightlifting-specific knowledge who I went to for treatment. It was his domain specific knowledge that made the difference. I was sceptical initially because like many lifters, I don’t like to relinquish control of my programming, but it was definitely worth it.
Alex changed up my training in a way that would manage the pain whilst also ameliorating underlying mobility issues. The reduction in pain was obvious. However, before I knew it, we were also targeting technical aspects of my lifting that I had never considered before. Now, my snatch and clean and jerk and more solid and consistent than ever.
From my experience, I would recommend Alex to literally any weightlifter.

Working with Strength Physiotherapy has been a great experience for me. Before I started working with Alex, I was struggling to run further than two kilometres without ankle pain that was so severe I had to stop running. Since I've started working with him, I've received effective and strategic programming which has helped rebuild my confidence in strength training and in my running performance. Now I'm running distances that I was running pre-injury. I recently ran 11 km which is something I thought was impossible a few months ago. I couldn't recommend Strength Physiotherapy enough to anyone that's struggling with any injuries.

I have never been the type of person that consistently took care of their health. 2021 was the start of my journey in taking my health seriously (most likely because of the pandemic!). I fell in love with lifting last year…especially deadlifts, it sounds silly but it made me feel strong as a woman, like I was invincible (at my peak I had a 105kg deadlift PB but still very much a novice!). Toward the end of 2021 I suffered a back injury that stopped me lifting for about a month, I was in pain, it was aggravated and debilitating. It really knocked my confidence. I was hoping I would heal quickly but I was uncertain about the damage I had sustained (I even had an MRI to check!) but I realised that I wanted to find ways to support my recovery because lifting meant a lot to me and had become part of my lifestyle!
I found Alex online through searching for specialist physiotherapists with experience working with lifters. I was nervous before investing mainly because his approach was remote and I wasn’t sure what to expect but actually the feedback has been very consistent and the app is very simple to use. I’ve had a lot of breakthroughs since starting not just with various lifts but also feeling more confident in modifying my program post injury/tweaks. In addition, he’s helped me realise some of my personal motivations behind my health goals with I think is helping my overall journey long term not just with fitness but with nutrition too. I think my biggest personal breakthrough and my main focus for seeking Alex’s help was to get back to a conventional deadlift and I am now back to the floor (just did 85kg with no tweaks or injuries for months now!).
I would highly recommend Alex as a coach, he is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and really challenges you to better yourself! When I joined the program I was frustrated and anxious because of my injury and I didn’t know how or what to do to recover effectively. Alex’s programming has given me the confidence to carry on lifting, has educated me immensely in how to modify my own program and listen to my body, to focus on nutrition goals and long term habits to achieve them, and overall feel healthier and stronger!

Just over 2 years ago, I injured my hip whilst skiing. It was just before the pandemic began which meant that my scheduled NHS physiotherapy was postponed. I had previously lived a very active lifestyle but my hip was in such a state that I had stopped any kind exercise at all. After being informed that I couldn’t see a physiotherapist face to face, I reached out to Alex. I was skeptical at first as I couldn’t see how physiotherapy would work virtually but I ended up being so happy that I went for it because Alex was great and has helped me so much and the online nature of the program actually ended up being perfect to fit around my busy lifestyle. Alex diagnosed my injury and we quickly created my training plan together. It was very personalised and flexible and so easy to follow or adapt if needed. My first breakthrough in training was when I came to realise that my injury didn’t have to hinder my training and that in fact the training itself was helping me to recover. In terms of results, the program has definitely helped my hip to recover. I have just recently come back from another skiing holiday, which is something I didn’t imagine if ever be able to do again but my hip managed just fine and that’s all thanks to Alex and the programme. I recommend that anyone who needs physiotherapy and leads a busy lifestyle tries this program as it is so flexible, personalised and adaptable and Alex is super friendly, helpful and knowledgable.

Before working with Alex I was struggling with shoulder mobility and pain which was limiting my strength training overhead. After trying to resolve the issue myself and failing, I turned to Alex for his expert guidance.
I was sceptical about doing this kind of work online, however Alex’s clear coaching/feedback manner along with the App based program has made it a very rewarding experience. Alex set out clear journey of the process needed to get the desired results, giving benchmark figures and easy to understand justification. He also modified any session as needed along the journey.
After the first 6 weeks working with Alex I’ve increased both my t-spine rotation and shoulder flexion which has allowed me to train consistently pain free overhead for the first time in a year.
I’d recommend Alex’s expert services to any strength based athlete who is struggling with pain and training limitations.

I've been working with Alex for over a year. In that time I've lost a bunch of weight and made huge improvements in cardio. The constant support and accountability from Alex is exactly what I needed to move towards my fitness goals. Would recommend to anybody!

I was struggling with a chronic shoulder issues when I found Alex online. I had been getting physio/massage on it for about a year which stopped the pain, but couldn't get me to the point where I could workout (overhead press/pullups) without pain.
Alex did a thorough evaluation of my issues using speific strenth and ROM tests, then wrote a tailored program to address the issues I was having. The program resolved the weaknesses/imbalances/pain I was having while allowing me to train pain free.
His coaching has not only fixed my issues with pain, but helped me improve my strenth, and break through platueaus I was having in my training.
From my experience, I would recommend Alex to anyone who has any chronic issues they can't resolve, and wants to be able to keep trainging around any problem areas AND resolve them.

I first came to see Alex because of recurrent shoulder pain that was affecting my mobility. I was interested by Alex's approach, especially his focus on long term mobility rather than short term pain reduction (in short I wasn't looking for a quick fix massage)
Following an initial in person assessment, Alex gave me some exercises to do before working out to build strength in my shoulders and improve my mobility.
When I first started I was barely able to overhead squat with an empty bar and snatch grip overhead was quite painful. I'm pleased to say that now I can snatch without any pain and I am now able to overhead squat comfortably. This convinced me to work with Alex on my weightlifting and since I've joined his program I have made significant progress. When I started I was pretty much unable to squat snatch and relied more on my arms to muscle my way through each rep whereas I am not afraid to squat snatch now and after a few months it's starting to look more like one fluid motion instead of a robotic power snatch followed by an awkward overhead snatch. Also, as a result of the shoulder-strength building exercises, the recurrent pain in my shoulders is practically gone now without any reduction of intensity or frequency of my weight lifting sessions. I highly recommend Alex's services.

When I initially approached Alex about getting some physio support, I was struggling with a number of minor injuries that combined we proving very hard to manage, despite my being a personal trainer.
I was trying to balance two sports and a physically demanding job, while dealing with groin pain from a hernia repair surgery, the reappearance of plantar fasciitis which had bothered me in the past and a wrist that was badly bruised from falling on it (and not getting better).
I found Alex's contact details on the Clinical Athlete directory, they're an association of physical therapists and S&C coaches I trust, so my only doubt was whether it would be worth the money for me; as a professional in a very similar line of work, particularly because I had been successful in managing my own recovery in the past.
What this service offered me was an objective second pair of eyes. For active, self motivated people, it's often hard to assess objectively when to push and when to ease off the gas, even if you are experienced and qualified yourself. Furthermore, I knew I could trust the advice I was getting, because it was coming from someone who's focus in work was precisely these sorts of situations. Lot's of physios know how to handle clinical recovery, but very few have any real experience working with athletes.
Needless to say I recovered from my injuries, and a lot faster than I would have otherwise, and afterwards I continued to work with Alex as a S&C coach for a long and productive while.
Strength Physiotherapy is the right practice for anyone who wants to manage pain an injury effectively and with an understanding of what active living is like.

Before starting to work with Alex I had a few issues with my training. Consistency was one - I was just going to a CrossFit box and doing whatever was in the program, which totally varied week to week and was not at all tailored to me. As a result my training was quite sporadic and a bit lopsided, which meant I kept getting injured and I was only seeing gains in some areas while others were neglected.
As a result I was often sidelined from training and quite frustrated as my numbers hovered around the same markers for ages.
I wasn't sure about starting to work with a coach, partly due to cost, but also as i just wasn't sure what value it would add beyond the community vibe at the gym. Obviously it is very different! I now train on my own and only really work with Alex...however, the cost for Alex's time + a gym membership is actually about the same as Crossfit membership and the results I;ve achieved have been ridiculous.
I'm so much more consistent in my training as I know that Alex is there waiting to check in. he doesn't yell, he doesn't shout, but he's just there in the background providing that accountability that means I almost always hit my sessions. Also, because of the consistency in the program and the fact that i now stick carefully to it, means I've made gains in every area and I'm no longer getting thos injuries. i'm all over stronger and more robust which is a massive shift for me.
It hasn't been one huge moment, but I'm now hitting PBs in every lift I do and my body has transformed.
From my point of view I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to really focus on themselves and their training and to be properly supported - with programming, technique, and nutrition - by someone who knows what they're talking about. Alex will work with you on your goals - and keep you coure to achieve them. it's some off the shelf generic attempt to get you big guns, but a properly considered, carefully monitored and supported program for being successful in your training. he won't shout at you to give him tem more reps, or fat shame you, or question your commitment - instead he'll carefully work with you to reach the ambition that you have.
I couldn't recommend Alex highly enough

Alex isn't your normal physio which you would be referred to by a GP, or even a private one. He's far beyond what they offer.
I came to Alex with a specific knee injury which was stopping me from running and squatting heavy in the gym. I had been to other physio's prior to working with Alex and made no progress. However, with Alex he has got me back to squatting heavy in the gym again and I can now run without pain in my knee.
Before agreeing to work with Alex I was sceptical about it all being virtual, as I thought physio's had to see their patients in person. This was not an issue as he successfully helped me get back to doing what I love.
First major breakthrough was when I was programmed some squats following a couple of weeks of knee rehab, having not squatted for 4 month due to the pain I expected there to be no improvement. However this was not the case!
I would recommend Alex to anyone who is a strength sport athlete and has a niggling injury and doesn't want to 'rest' to get back to full health again. However, you need to be committed to following Alex's guidance, otherwise you may not get the same results as me.
Thankyou Alex for getting me back to doing what I love.

Alex has a unique combination of evidence based knowledge, training experience and clinical reasoning that makes him a top class physio.
Having worked alongside him, I have seen his passion for what he does and a genuine sense of responsibility towards his clients.
Everyone I have seen work with Alex has made a full recovery, and in most cases, progress beyond previous levels. There isn't much more you can ask for than that!

I’ve been training with Alex for few years, so I know he is very passionate about what he does. Thankfully, I have not had any major issues, so there was no need for his physiotherapy skills (touch wood!); however Alex has been writing my programmes for over a year now. Whenever I follow Alex’s programme consistently (and let’s say there have been a few hiccups!), I notice changes pretty quickly: the weights go up from session to session and my body responds rather well too 💪🏻 We discuss each exercise following every session - Alex gives me points to improve on, changes to make to increase efficiency and (often) encourages to ‘go heavier’!
I’d recommend Alex to anyone wanting to improve their training abilities, he is after all the ‘squat doctor’ 🤙🏻

Alex's knowledge and expertise are world class. This year I injuried my rotator cuff when lifting, and Alex played a fundamental role is helping me through my rehab, so I can get back to lifting. His treatment and advice is priceless and always willing to adapt to your specific situation. Highly recommend!

Alex is one of the most versatile practitioners I've ever received treatment from. Completely fixed a long term shoulder injury and provided me with a training program to take me back into performance after my recovery. Could not recommend him more highly!

I had knee pain that was steadily getting worse, as I’d ignored it thinking it was just one of the niggling pains that come and go with weightlifting. I decided to see Alex as not only is he a qualified physiotherapist but he is also a weightlifter and so fully understands the demands of the sport.
Unlike many physios probably would, he did not tell me to ‘stop lifting’ or ‘take a break’, in fact I had a competition coming up and he didn’t even suggest that I should cancel it. Instead, we had a detailed consultation where we targeted what movements were causing the pain, including Alex observing my technique in squat, which was the main issue.
Alex then wrote me a detailed four week squat and back strengthening programme to compliment the programme I was already on, which lowered the weight and depth of the squat so as to help my knee heal without compromising my training.
Alex was also available to consult throughout the programme, swiftly replying to any queries or concerns and regularly messaging me to see that all was going well.
If you have any pain or injury and want help to treat it WITHOUT compromising your sports training, I cannot recommend Alex enough. He is extremely knowledgable , great value and goes above and beyond expectations.

Alex first treated me after I was suffering from numerous niggles. Rather than just treating the problems, he spent the time and effort to learn about my training history and how we could look at proactively changing things around to give me time, not only to recover, but also to strengthen areas that were contributing to the niggles. Alex also introduced me to new ways to classify the intensity of my training sessions which enabled me to plan my training days more appropriately. He also emphasised the importance of recovery days, giving the body a chance to get the benefits from the training sessions as well as recover in time for the next session.
As a side note, having an in-depth knowledge of my sport, Olympic Weightlifting, Alex was also able to give me exercises to help progress my jerk and strengthen my lower back, one of the areas that I always had issues with after training. I really can’t recommend Alex highly enough. If you want a quick fix, look elsewhere. If you want someone to invest in your wellbeing and progression, book an appointment now!

Alex is an excellent physio! He is really supportive and informative throughout. Very passionate about ensuring you understand what’s going on throughout. And most importantly he helped get through a really bad hip injury and back in to training!

Alex treated me following a repetitive strain injury which had left me in a lot of pain and hobbling around. With the advised pain relief, rest, and stretching regime, I was back on my running training programme within weeks.
Always professional, friendly and considerate - thank you Alex, you’re fab!!!
