I came to the Recovery Room for treatment on a knee injury that I received whilst training for a marathon. James helped with this, alongside giving me lots of advice on my running technique to prevent reinjury. I ended up running the marathon quicker than my target time!

I had a niggling ankle injury that kept flaring up over the last couple of years whenever I tried to increase my mileage and most recently it stopped me from running completely. I saw James for a few f2f sessions and a zoom session (due to lockdown) and the whole service was excellent. James did a thorough assessment taking into account previous injuries and came up with a focused treatment plan, adjusting the exercises as needed and also keeping in mind my running goals. I found his instructions clear and the links to the exercises really helpful. He was always friendly and approachable and I can't fault his support. I am now back running pain-free and stronger. I came to James as a woman in her early 60s who thought her running days were over because of a slightly arthritic knee. James gave me a programme of exercises, and to cut a long story short I am now able to run 3 times a week, and take part in my local park run, which I love. This is all down to James' belief in my ability to manage my knee, and the support and encouragement, as well as expert treatment, he has given me along the way.

I went to James with a pain in my inner leg above my ankle which was all linked to a knee injury I had sustained about 10 years ago. Over several sessions and 4 months, he helped me build strength, become injury free and become a better runner. The majority of my sessions were on zoom due to lockdown and they were brilliant. I still got great treatment and I came on a lot in the 3 months before I actually went to a face to face session in August. The zoom sessions were easy to follow and he could still provide me with exercises to complete. He was able to still assess my progress and I would definitely recommend the zoom sessions if face to face is not available. I will definitely return to James if I ever sustain an injury again - although I hope I don’t! I would highly recommend James. The exercises he provides are unique and he has great knowledge to help with any issues you are having.

I ruptured my knee in April whilst running during lockdown. A few weeks later I developed Baker’s Cyst as fluid from the swollen knee descended into the calf below and to some extent the ankle. I had been referred to James as someone who could help and over the course of six months, this has more than been borne out. He has been most efficient and professional throughout and has an excellent manner, always listening closely in order to prescribe the most appropriate recovery treatment. Each session was followed up with exercise therapies emailed to me that were easy to follow. Today my leg is back to normal and I’m up and about as before. Highly recommend. As a member of the armed forces James sessions have helped me significantly.
James has fixed a reoccurring issue with my running, i went from struggling to run short distances once a week, to three plus runs a week of varying distances. Including weighted runs in boots.
His wide range of knowledge means small issues can be fixed quickly, and he can help develop a healthy running technique to prevent injury in the future, and improve performance.
Invest in rectifying the niggles and building sound bio-mechanics early, well worth the pay off in the long run.

Excellent bespoke treatment and support. Injured my Achilles a year ago. Face-to-face sessions, video sessions (1st Lockdown), x-ray referral by James found calcification on Achilles then shockwave therapy allowed pain-free running again (at times thought wouldn't happen). Had researched shockwave therapy, evidence is limited, but for me and my injury, accompanied by months of physio exercises and James' coaching tips had me running better than before injury.
Didn't just learn about getting better, also learnt life-long techniques for injury prevention.
Can't recommend James more highly; his knowledge, skills, compassion and professionalism exceeds any expectation.

Had to instruct James to sort out a calf injury. I am pleased to confirm I seem to have been fixed (10k run yesterday - no pain!) Not only did James fix me but helped me to understand the reason behind the injury. James identified problems with my running style and provided me with exercises which seems to have help.

I went to James in June with a Gastrocnemius tear and a fear of never getting back to running, which was compounded by the fact that we were well into lockdown! He was able to rehabilitate me via zoom and I am incredibly grateful to him. The online sessions were straight forward and practical, with follow up exercises to build me back up. Now we are in November and I’m running 10k comfortably, albeit in the dark! I have new strategies for building strength and speed to help me progress further.
I thoroughly recommend his service and would definitely use online physio again.

After suffering from a long term knee injury that flared up occasionally, but repeatedly, I sought a treatment plan from James. As an avid cyclist, competing in races weekly, and occasional runner, I was getting fed up of the repeated time off of the bike due to this injury and beginning to feel like I was going to have to give it up permanently, something that I really didn't want to do.
At the first appointment the assessment he gave was extremely thorough and he explained clearly what he thought the source of the problem was. For the next six months we steadily progressed along a well set out treatment plan, which was always adjusted and modified if required. Due to Covid we had to do the vast majority of the treatment over Zoom, however this did not impact the effectiveness of his exercises, as he not only thoroughly explained each new exercise, but provided video links which clearly showed how to perform each new exercise. Not only were the exercises well constructed, but his advice and guidance for mentally adjusting my approach was fantastic.
Highly professional and attentive to the details I gave him, I cannot recommend him highly enough. From thinking that I would have to stop cycling completely, I have not only got back on the bike, but am fitter and stronger than ever because of his help.

Having tried to diagnose the cause of my elbow pain myself online I booked in to see James who quickly identified where the problem was actually coming from (my neck). I was at the point where it was restricting my ability to train in the gym so I was really happy that the treatment from the first session, along with the exercises that were set for me to do in between sessions made a noticeable difference straight away. I’ve just been back for the second session which was equally thorough. James clearly has heaps of expertise and is able to add helpful advice that fits around my lifestyle making the treatment great value for money. I’m very glad I didn’t carry on with my (incorrect!) self-diagnosis and treatment as instead of me making things worse, I can already train more effectively and am confident of a full recovery. I highly recommend James.
