We had a lovely experience at La Fontana. The waiter (young boy) really made our evening. He was charming, helpful and really made it his personal mission to make our evening as pleasant as possible. The Chef made himself known to us and was very helpful with splitting starters between 4 dishes etc. Things that you don’t expect from a restaurant but do really make a difference. The food was divine. I really liked the “mozzarella in Carozza” started and the sea food risotto was amazing! Overall a fantastic experience and I shall definitely be returning.

Friday 17th December myself and three friends went to La Fontana as it is one of our favourite restaurants. We arrived at 7.30 and didn't leave until 11.00 due to having to wait for over an hour for our main course. No explanation was given but we did receive a free drink. We were all pleased with our food when we finally got it. We should have question about the wait but all we wanted to do was leave.

A wonderful evening out. Would recommend to all my friends and family, a beautifully family run paradise tucked away in Bedford away from the hustle & bustle. Italian dishes done right and wine flowed to top the evening off. Romantic, warm & friendly. Everything you want on a date night! Evening ended with a slippery nipple on the house!

Friendly welcoming staff who were very attentive We were a party of 8 so had preordered. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their starters which were tasty and portions were very good. Disappointed with mains- lasagne was dry and burned on bottom; pasta in tomato and basil sauce had no basil!! Carbonara was only average. The only person happy with their meal had the pork Marsala which was very good. Salads appeared old as the leaves were turning brown. The garlic bread was good - there was a lot of it almost too much. No desserts were ordered as mains were so disappointing. Would think twice about returning.

Passed this quaint little restaurant last week when we got lost in Bedford. Looked so lovely when we walked past, we knew we had to give it a go. 1 week later my fiancee booked it for our date night and I'm so glad he did. The staff were so attentive and Genuine, we felt so welcome from the moment we arrived. Every staff member said hello as we passed by them, the atmosphere was so friendly. Can honestly say it's the best italian food I've had in a long time, so fresh and full of flavour and huge portions too! The owner took his time speaking to everyone at their tables which was a lovely touch. Food baby and all, we can't wait to go back!

The Best Italian Restaurant in Bedford! We love bringing our young family here for an early dinner, the owners are so friendly and helpful with the children. We came back on Friday night with a large group of noisey friends and the staff were just as accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us. Our food was delicious and every one of us enjoyed our meals. What a great restaurant. The food was delicious - had a fish & meat starter that was so fresh and absolutely delicious. We were all delighted with our mains and some of us even managed to squeeze in a yummy dessert. We were made to feel so welcome. There was no intrusive music and the tables were far enough apart to give you privacy. Definitely recommended.

What a cracking little place! Had a lovely evening here last for a number of reasons; the food was lovely - you can tell it's home cooked and fresh. venue is really nice and tucked away, and the outside area is covered so you dont get wet if it's pouring with rain (which it was last night!). And most importantly the people - Lisa, Ben and Danny were the best hosts; attentive and helpful in their approach, and genuinely friendly and interested in you as a valued customer. We were there on Saturday for my aunt's birthday. The service was lovely and so was the food. The staff was very friendly and helpful even though they were very busy. We enjoyed our time there. The other diners were wonderful too. They joined us in singing happy birthday to my aunt, which was very kind of them. We had a great laugh with them and the staff. Wonderful food but to be honest it was what I expected. La Fontana has an absolutely justified reputation for good dining. Ben very kindly fitted us in and we were able to bring our visiting in laws in for a lovely relaxed meal. Every dish was greeted with "oh wow" and the staff we friendly, interactive and happily made conversation. Don't miss out if you have a chance to go, this restaurant is the one that others strive to be.

Really good food. They offer gluten free pasta, but no gluten free pizza. However, their pasta dishes are amazing! I cant wait to come back and try more. Also had the caprese salad starter and the mozzarella was incredibly flavourful. I highly recommend that. The waitresses were so lovely and attentive. Although desserts did not come in gluten free options, they made sure I had whatever ice cream sundae I wanted. I highly recommend this for their food and wonderful service. We will definitely be back for more!

This is Bedford’s best kept secret. Down a medieval alleyway, off the high street and into Ram Yard to find a classy little Italian joint. I love the rustic food and the cool swing vibe created by La Fontana’s friendly owners Ben and Lisa. I’d highly recommend it, but book early for the best tables.

Beautiful food! I’m really fussy about the freshness of Italian food but can’t have cheese and normally this throws a few chefs who fail to adjust to accommodate (not that I expect it) but the pizza di mare was bloomin’ delicious! No frozen seafood selection either; large prawns and unevenly sized, juicy seafood! It was stunning and tasty and their homemade chilli oil was an extra bonus! But beware, it’s hot but it you like your chilli heat, it’s jam packed full of flavour. The Cannelloni was also up there and “very tasty” - looked truly authentic looking too - like it was handmade an not machine rolled. Super friendly service and a chef that’s been there 16+ years! I could not recommend more and will be travelling from Watford regularly to dine here with family and friends x
