j.A very good Italian restaurant in Belfast. It is very reasonably priced. The staff are good and friendly. My friend found the music a bit loud,I thought it was ok. The food was very tasty. Two main courses and a tea for around 25 pounds. I would definitely recommend Scalinis to anyone visiting Belfast.

B. M.I got the Salmon with baby potatoes and I have to say that price-quality is good. On the other hand, service is not great the restaurant was busy and the staff did not how to work under pressure so they were really confused and service was too slow. Since we got the first starter until we got the main dish we had to wait for several minutes, one waiter offer us a free drink for the inconvenience(when we ordered the free drink the other waiter told us that “free drink” means only coffee or limoncello…so I got the limoncello that it was terrible. ). Additionally, some glasses were dirty.
M. S.I've never had a bad meal in Scalini. Ever. Excellent service, attentive staff and great atmosphere. The downside is I keep ordering the same thing because the carbonara and pecan pie is just too damn good.

This restaurant offers lots of great Italian dishes at a really good price.
I would highly recommend booking as it was super busy.
There are lots of stairs so you definitely need to mention in your booking if you have access requirements so they can seat you appropriately.

The decor inside was cute and traditional, however outside it seemed like it was an abandoned building so I remember standing outside-as it was my first time in Belfast -not being able to figure out if the restaurant is closed.
M. S.The food as always at this restaurant hits the palate both in taste and quantity. While there was one or two little hitches with service, there was a clear intention to please reflected in the offer of a drink on the house for the person who's starter got overlooked. The bruchetta was declared satisfactory by thise who selected it as was the garlic bread. The sole diner who ordered pizza was more than happy as were the five who had meatballs. Desert menu is short and uncomplicated but the profiteroles get a star mention for taste. All in all you really cannot go far wrong with this place when you all enjoy Italian/Sicilian.
T. E.Great Italian Restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It is a very big restaurant that could accommodate large groups. The menu contains a great variety of Italian dishes and there is something for everyone to like. The food was very tasty and was served in a well presented manner. The pizzas are great as well as the fish, ravioli and chicken. It is very recommended dining with kids. The kids menu is also very good.
To conclude, this is definitely an Italian restaurant that I will visit again.

A. M.So glad to see Scalinis still the same. Restaurant never stops, one table cleared then full. For first time ever rang to book, not a problem. Our waitress Cara was lovely. We had our grandson with us who has extra needs and loves nothing more than watching tills. Cara noticed, came over and showed him how to use the card machine. She has just made his year, never mind his night, he was so happy and excited. When staff notice a child that’s different, it shows they’re aware and their whole approach changes and makes a dinner out, more enjoyable. Thank you Cara from Jackson, he can’t wait to tell class about his weekend, it will probably be all about you 😊

Having been told on the phone that you can only book a table for parties of 6 or more I turned up at 5.50pm on Saturday to find the place full and a waiting list for tables! Thankfully we only had to wait for around 20 mins before we were shown to a table. Our food was served quickly, although we had to wait ages for the order to be taken in the first place. The pizza's are on the huge side but they are delicious. I had the risotto and it was full of flavour and piping hot. It was worth the walk from the city to have a meal there.

I've been here quite a few times with friends and family and always recommend ones to go here or its sister restaurant Scalinis. Both restaurants are a diamond in the rough as they say. Definitely one of my faves and will always be back never had a bad experience in either of these places ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

D. O. N.Called in without a booking at 9:00pm on a Wednesday evening. This was not a problem. We were shown to a table straight away. The place was surprisingly busy! The staff were very friendly and efficient. Most were students. The choice of food was broad but we both opted for the Sea Bass. When it came, after a reasonably short wait, it was both substantial and delicious. The wine was excellent as well. When we finished the course, we were offered desert but we were both too full to eat any more. We sat on, to finish the wine and although it was getting late, there was no pressure to leave. The bill, which only came when we asked for it, was very reasonable. I totally recommend this restaurant.

We had two young (2&4) children with us who were very well taken care of with crayons and pages as well as a good menu selection and juice. They waited for us to ask them. I hate having to answer a waiter with my mouth full of food. The space is beautiful. There will be a wait on a Friday and Saturday, which is worth it. When a restaurant is this packed it is a good sign that it will be worth it. The prices are good too.

Service was quick, but never obtrusive and the food was delicious. I can recommend the pannacotta (raspberry and white chocolate) and my pasta dish was also delicious. We thought it was extremely reasonable too - garlic bread, main course, dessert, coffee for 2 plus a half bottle of wine was just over £50

E. P.I didn't have e a great experience the last time I was here. As a group of 6 we arrived in 2 halves. First 3 were shown to our table. Second 3 arrived a few minutes later (all within time of our booking)They were brought to the middle floor and told your table is up there and round the corner, and pointed in the general direction. I believe the staff member was a manager. We then waited 20 minutes before any sort of order was taken (including drinks) Even then we had to ask a server. Once our food arrived we were left to our own devices. We weren't asked if we needed anything else to the point my father had to go looking for pepper himself. The food as agreed by most was nice but had observed that the quality of standard wasn't the same as previous visits. I am aware that it was fairly busy but I have been on several occasions and felt that on this particular occasion the staff just weren't as attentive as they usually are. Disappointing.
**Update**
Was here recently again and the service was considerably better. We wanted for nothing and the staff were very attentive, one server in particular. This is the service we are used to from scalinis, glad to see an improvement :)

My wife and i picked this place for a nice romantic meal for our first anniversary, we both love Italian food and the inside of the building looked so interesting and romantic to a then pair of quirky teenager's. We were so pleased with everything that we would go on to save up every penny we could just to eat here, almost 12 years later and we are still coming here, most recently just two weeks ago for my birthday.
The food is absaloutly magnificent.
They have a large menu selection so you will definitely find something you like no matter how picky an eater you are, my favourite being the spaghetti carbonara, everything about Scalini's is diamond in my eyes from the generous portion sizes to the eye catching presentation, right down to every full flavoured bite. Not forgetting the mouth watering desserts.
The staff are so accommodating and friendly, they really do go the extra mile for you and aren't afraid to engage in light conversation while serving which is quite relaxing.
The restaurant is always well staffed aswell so you are never left waiting for anything.
We have given good news and bad over the tables of this place for over a decade, even announcing having our first child, that same kid is now 6 and is pizza crazy and loves the pizza here, at my birthday the pizza chef give him a wee show of how he was making the pizzas, stretching out the dough and spinning it up into the air, he talked about it for hours afterwards, it's these small things like this that keep us coming back.

t.About as authentic as Dolmio sauce unfortunately. Food isn't bad but it's a real shame this is one of the best and most popular Italians in Belfast. Always busy yes, and has a good range of dishes and pizza. Anyone who has ever been to Italy though would be bitterly disappointed. As I said, decent food, nice enough place, but more what you would cook at home than find in Rome.

This restaurant made me feel special and had ambience and the décor was perfect. Fillets steaks cooked to perfection and the pork fillet with fennel stuffing and pulled pork was amazing. The house red wine was reasonable and very good and a must for afters is the chocolate orange cheesecake. Will definitely be back and hopefully very soon.

We were heading out to a concert on Sunday evening and wanted to grab an early evening meal somewhere close to the Belfast Empire. We know Scalini has traditional Italian food, and we fancied a retro “blast from the past.”
Neither of us were particularly hungry and so we shared two starters and a pizza (requesting it was all served at the same time)
Scalini is a multi-floored building with a buzzing atmosphere and a huge team of waiting staff, so the service is fast and efficient. Our main waitress was brilliant - particularly keeping an eye that the pizza was delivered at the same time as the starters, offering chilli oil - and when the food arrived she was unobtrusively checking all was OK.
The starters were deep fried Brie and Seabass on ciabatta. The pizza was Rustica (tomato, mozzarella with goats cheese, red onion, aubergine, courgette and sun-blushed tomato.) The starters are generously portioned and the pizza was crispy with large amounts of toppings. However, the goats cheese is not for the faint hearted. It was particularly pungent and I could have sworn I heard it bleating- and that suits me just fine!
Scalini is perhaps a little set in its ways. The menu has remained virtually unchanged since it opened decades ago- safe, traditional and perhaps a little underwhelming, but it provides what its many loyal customers enjoy: friendly, efficient service and decent quality food. We do find it very unusual that there are no seafood options whatsoever as pizza toppings: not even an anchovy!! Unheard of in any other Pizzeria, “authentic“ or otherwise we would suggest. Also, there are few vegetarian/vegan options and those on the menu are generally uninspired.
By the way the Expresso Martinis were great- and super value at £6.95.
