Reviews of Polo Brighton

Great pasta dishes, both the Spaghetti alla Bolognese and Crayfish tails and salmon tagletti were very tasty, good authentic dishes. A good choice of restaurant was made that day.

Not sure why the reviews are quite so bad, we must have gone on a good day. We had to wait but the person, who I think was owner, said it would be 20 minutes but we could sit and have a drink, he was very pleasant. I had a lovely plate of pasta and my partner a really delicious pizza, tasted really authentic. 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine and two beers, with side of chips, £60, so decent price I would say. Knocking one off as I like a bigger portion, maybe me being greedy - certainly didn't walk away hungry and would definitely go back.

We went there in the summer and were impressed with the food, the size of the portions and the variety they were offering. So we decided to go again yesterday, as we really liked it the first time. This time though we were not as happy. The food we ordered didn't quite meet our expectations and what we remembered from our first visit. I think when we go to Brighton we are going to give it another go and hopefully won't be disappointed again.

Amazing find in Brighton that felt authentically Italian. The Polo burger was amazing and the pizza and pasta was delicious. Staff were friendly and accommodated our group of 16 without hesitation. Must visit if you're in Brighton!

It took us 45 minutes to receive tap water and for the staff to realise we hadn't received starters. Our mains arrived before our starters due to confusion with starters going to another table but that's okay mistakes happen. Unfortunately the upstairs was so cold, so whilst we normally wouldn't have minded the wait for food the cold room really wasn't adding to the experience, and also the atmosphere wasn't helped by a boombox in the corner of the room playing a 1990s (Christmas?) CD?
The staff were nice, I believe it's a family run restaurant, the young lad who we believe was their son was really nice and helpful.
Unfortunately for the price of the food we were expecting something a bit more than average! £5.95 for two small mozzarella drowned pieces of garlic bread seemed extortionate. Sadly I didn't get photos of the mains as we were just pleased to eat by that point. The lasagne was a good sized portion and lacked flavour. Unfortunately the same had to be said for the pizza, the red sauce lacked flavour and pizza was swimming in grease.
For the location that the establishment is in within Brighton, we were expecting just a little bit more quality, especially given the pricing. I'd go again, but only as a last resort. Sorry :-(
