M. W.Food was beautiful so full of flavour and quite light the owners were so polite and accommodating definitely recommend. The decor of the restaurant is very warming. Depending where you're sat you can see right into the kitchen and it's great to watch your food being prepared.

C. R.Much as I enjoyed the celebratory evening with family and friends I was a bit disappointed. The starter should have been king prawns but I got tiny prawns, got an apology and was given one king prawn. I had ribeye for mains but it wasn't great, quite thin and served with a bit of potato and something I have forgotten. The Tiramasu was very nice. The bill was wrong and had to be sorted. I hope this was just a bad night because I have seen other good reviews

J. T.Been here for two farewell dinners for team members now. The first was exceptional, a beautiful beetroot risotto, delicious steak. This time not quite so good: gnocchi with a cheese sauce, salmon with vegetables and a sauce, tiramisu. Nothing wrong with any of it and the salmon was very nicely cooked, but nothing made me sit up and take notice like the last time. Plus, £32 is not cheap for three fairly simple courses and no drinks. The service however is really excellent although the restaurant a little cold at the start. Overall, four stars across the two visits. I would definitely recommend it. Remember to bring your own bottle, and cash!!

D. T.Delicious italian cuisine in Derby's west end. We had generous ravioli and risotto starters followed by succulent salmon and beef sirloin for main. Tiramaso and expresso to finish. Enjoy the atmosphere and the view into the kitchen. Remember to take your own wine.
K. C.I was part of a party of 13 on Saturday night. I really enjoyed the meal, my food was very nice and my steak was cooked perfectly. If you enjoy an intimate atmosphere this is a lovely restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive and feel the service was very good, especially as we were part of such a large party. Food is all cooked in sight of the restaurant so you can see your meal being prepared.
The pianist played a wide selection of songs from ABBA to OMD which I found refreshing as it was lively and entertaining. A very nice evening, thank you 😊
A. R.Myself and some colleagues from work went for a meal last night (2 March). The restaurant is small but very cosy and quite intimate; perfect for date night. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Even the chef/owner came to the table to welcome us. I have to say my food was absolutely delicious. I had steak for my main course and it was tender and very flavoursome - and quite substantial. There was live music in the form of a piano player. It was a little loud at times - depending on what he was playing - but it didn’t impinge on the conversation too much. I believe one of my colleagues didn’t have such a positive experience :(. However, I would recommend this restaurant 5*

Our meal was served hot, it was tasty and the service as expected. By the way - you need to bring your own alcohol and pay by cash, but don’t let that put you off eating here, I’ll eat here again.
J. F.This little place has excellent atmosphere. A fixed, but rotating menu, an old style friendly chef who talks to the customers when service allows. Has an open access kitchen where he is the only personal. I and my party of 4 had an excellent evening, a couple of things to remember, he has no licence so bring your own , he doesn't mind what and no corkage . He doesn't accept walk ins so book and is not open for lunch. The only negative for the evening was the lovely creme brulé was not quite set . I will certainly be going again and I would recommend you do too
D. I.We had a fantastic meal here last night for ou daughter's 8th birthday. The menu is small but brilliant. Between us we had every dish apart from the steak and they were all utterly delicious. The best food we've had in Derby for a long time if not ever!
The service was fantastic as well and Reno is a friendly, funny and great host. The birthday girl got a a free dessert with fireworks (literally!) and was so happy that when they played a birthday song she got up and danced. Of course, Reno joined in! Can't fault the place - it's just awesome and I would thoroughly recommend! 😁

It's like a set menu, but as my girlfriend is a vegetarian (she came to mussells night to treat me, she's good like that) the chef whipped her up something special. H. O.Intimate Italian restaurant with a charismatic owner / chef. Food and service were both worthy of praise. Short menu set daily, but could have easily have chosen any of the starters, mains or deserts. BYO arrangement but serves water to tables and makes the cappucino was served at just the right temperature. Choice of two or three courses but you'll opt for all three. We'll be back.

The owner is really passionate about cooking, this is reflected in his fresh dishes which always vary according to the daily availability of ingredients. Having been Italians in Derby for about 4 years now, I can confirm that dining at Dolce salato has brought us back to Italy where you dine in small and beautiful traditional taverns. The taste of this delicious coffee made to perfection remained in my mouth. Great place!

Abbiamo cenato al "Dolce Salato" ieri sera ed é stata un cena spettacolare. Il proprietario é proprio un appassionato di cucina, questo si riflette nei sue piatti freschi che variano sempre in base alla disponibilità giornaliera degli ingredienti. Essendo italiani a Derby da circa 4 anni ormai, posso confermare che cenare al Dolce salato ci ha riportato in italia dove ceni nelle piccole e belle osterie tradizionali. Mi é rimasto in bocca il sapore di questo buonissimo Caffé fatto alla perfezione. Ottimo posto!
