Elegant, but family friendly. Typical Italian restaurant, but with a Sardinian twist. Traditional decor and traditional Italian hospitality and excellent customer service. We went for a quick bite and sampled jumbo shrimps coated in crunchy polenta batter with tomato sauce, fregola with eggplants and ricotta salata, malloreddus (Sardinian gnocchi) with zucchini, cheese and saffron. Everything was excellent. We are planning to go back when we will have more time to try the typical Sardinian wine Cannonau, other fish delicacies and desserts! Almost forgot, complimentary Sardinian flat bread, Pane Carasau, lovely!

We visited this fabulous Sardinian restaurant for the first time yesterday evening and had a wonderful time! We had an excellent meal of seafood, fish, hand-made ravioli and cheese accompanied by a lovely Sardinian wine and port. Our hostess was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, but without being intrusive. We will definitely return the next time we visit Edinburgh.

Not from Sardinia, but visited it with a Sardinian friend and had to say the taste of the products was really good with lots of familiar Sardinian dishes. The actual Sardinian dishes you can try, is cozze (mussels), culurgiones and Malloreddus. As for dessert make sure to try the delightful Sebadas! There are other Italian dishes too, though I haven't tried them, but for a proper Sardinian experience this is my go-to place in Edinburgh

Just Amazing. We are 2 Fussy Italians :) and we never eat @ Italian food out as it's always disappointing. But ISOLA what can we say I couldn't stop eating. The flavours are just amazing. The atmosphere exactly what you wished every restaurant had. Federica serving and taking orders was just Amazing. She explained everything and was so enthusiastic and welcoming. Thank you guys for the lovely night and for making our 17th Anniversary Just Perfect.

Isola offers a warm, familiar and cosy dining experience. We were transported back to Sardinia with fresh flavours, simple but perfectly executed dishes. We took our 6 month old daughter with us and the staff were so friendly and good with her. You feel like family going there so this will become one of our regular haunts. We have a large menu to work our way through!

Beautifully tender moscardini and gently flavoured fish dishes. Excellent Italian/Sardinian wine list. On a second visit, a really lovely meal. All our dishes were spot on in spite of the place being very busy. Sardinian wines and grappa. Our server was attentive, friendly and accommodating, the general ambiance very relaxing. A great restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Despite arriving late they welcomed us in for a meal of authentic Italian food that was very pleasing and arrived promptly. Great actual Italian restaurant with the friendliest owners in Edinburgh. There's an excellent selection of food and wine and all reasonably priced considering how large the portions are (the calzone - "king of pizzas"!). And the owners really are perfect, great banter and they'll go out of their way to accommodate you.

The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. The menu is a bit tricky to navigate, but anything you choose will be delicious (and the prices are pretty reasonable). If you have room after your meal, I strongly recommend the tiramisu, and they can make a proper espresso.

Best italian restaurant in UK!!! I have been twice here with my girlfriend for dinner. I have tried sardinian dishes (fish and meat) really difficult to find also in Italy, everything was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Another day we took pizza take away and it was amazing as well. Started with minestrone soup for both of us, then my wife had lasagne and I got a ham & pineapple pizza even though it was not on the menu. Lastly I had a chocolate ice cream which was excellent. We had a house white wine and a Pironi beer to drink. Service was good and staff very pleasant and accommodating. Prices were very reasonable for an Edinburgh eatery.

Every time is an absolute pleasure. I can never get enough of their fish dishes. Super fresh fish, every dish is so tasty! Tiramisù is delicious and try Cannolo Sardo! To finish, Caffè del Doge espresso and a Sardinian drink. Perfect. Please please try the starter with artichokes, amazing! Home made bread is real home made bread! Olive oil is pure olive oil and the main dishes are amazing, I have tried a couple of vegetarian ones. Went there for my birthday with my family I had octopus in a tomato sauce the octopus was so tender it melted in your mouth and used all the bread mopping up the tomato sauce delicious and would have it again I do wish they had told us every time they replenished the bread with about 5 slices it cost us 5 pounds and they did it 3 times but I have to say they did ask us but didn't know it was costing 5 pounds a go .for my main course me and my wife picked the sea food platter with lobster tuna swordfish and prawns and big tiger prawns the tuna was fantastic the tiger prawns were good and the crayfish nice but that's the second place iv gone to in Edinburgh that can't cook lobster you should be able to eat it from the shell with a spoon not try to pull it apart with extreme effort with the spoon so rubbery and it swordfish now iv never had this sort of fish before but there was a smell of it that I didn't like put me off but maybe it's meant to smell like that the restaurant it's self is nice and the service great wine good but expensive and it was very busy for a Thursday night

Every day this restaurant opens, a crime against food is being committed. The Edinburgh council workers are obviously criminals, who must be taking bribes. Why else do places like Pizza Hut get prime locations and ISOLA is tucked away on a random strip of shops/ eateries, all the while selling world class Italian food!! Some of the best I've ever eaten. It's truly a crime that this restaurant isn't where it should be. It should be turning people away on Rose St, George Street or Marchmont, with the rest of the best. Tempo Perso was my favourite Italian, but this has now taken that no.1 spot. Ingredients so fresh and tastes so good. I cannot recommend enough. I'll be screaming from the rooftops and praying they get a new premises so that they can expand and have somewhere that's in the heart of the action, not away from it. Parmigiana was fantastico. Pizza was delicious. Pasta was amazing. And Tiramisu was out of this world. Staff were also great and friendly. Prices for what we got was well worth it. So please go, support a family run business and discover something new and amazing that you can add to your restaurant index. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger: I'll be back.
