As an ex pizza chef I am always so wary of pizza joints, esp chain restaurants but I had various vouchers and was over at the shops with my mum so thought ack why not ….we were not disappointed! From the moment we walked in, and asked for a quiet table away from others, we were given excellent service in that we were lead to a table furthest away from people but still in the area that was ‘open’. The girl serving us was so polite and kind about the situation and had a lovely smile. We had to ask about using the vouchers and the girl explained how to use them and how the app/ordering worked - again very helpful & with a smile. Time to order - the girl again assisted and encouraged us to get our moneys worth again helpful & smiley Food: pizza was banging!!! Slightly shy with the toppings but tasty all the same. The side salad was simple but effective. (We forgot pics) Then we got my free birthday treat! OMG! I’m not really a dessert person but this thing was just delightful - some kind of lemon & white chocolate roulade 👌🏼 What a love way to finish off! Drinks were expensive, food would have been too if it wasn’t for the vouchers and tbh I probably wouldn’t pay full price purely because it is so overpriced but that’s obviously how/why they do the discount vouchers and you are allowed to use more than one at a time! Overall it was a lovely meal - the girl serving was really nice, the food was decent and it was a good price - with vouchers!! (Dropped a star cos without vouchers it is seriously overpriced!)

Good food and nice atmosphere. However, I was disappointed with the Ceasar salad, the dressing did not taste great and it had a boiled egg.

This was a very pleasant visit, the staff were working incredibly hard and it was very busy for them. The food was lovely and we were served quickly and the food arrived quickly. Never disappointed with Pizza Express and this is the second time we have visited this branch and have been happy each visit, will go again.

Nothing special for the prices. £35 for two lasagne and diet cokes. Seated quickly and brilliant waiter. Worth it if it's not a regular thing.

Terrific lunch out with the wife. I had the Calzone 'Nduja and it was amazing. Nice kick of spice to it and a good sized portion. Would highly recommend.

A couple of weeks ago we had a dreadful experience here, so bad it led me complaining to the MD. Long story, I was invited back for another try. Fair play, this was a much better evening. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was really good. IMHO you'll get a way better pizza here than from the 'Hut or Domino's. I feel like I need to give Pizza Express one more try in the future, as I've had one dreadful experience and one good one. Next one is the decider! For now, four stars.

Very busy which is a good sign. Really good staff but food needs a bit more attention. Calamari sauce was salad cream, chicken wings were edible with a runny sauce, pizzas were ok. Would I return? No.

Popped in today for some lunch and it was lovely. Doughballs to start which are a staple when visiting. I always enjoy Pizza Express’s seasonal offerings and got the Vegan Sloppy (think Sloppy Giuseppe but with Quorn chicken instead of beef) and it was brilliant. I’m a vegetarian and not vegan but would recommend this pizza to anyone - my meat-eating partner had a slice and enjoyed it as well. They got an American Hot and said it was delicious. Staff were attentive without being over the top. Being able to pay the bill via the app is a handy addition and something I’ll use again. P.S. sign up and download the app and you’ll get free doughballs and things in future.

I do have a bias for pizza, so take this overview with a pinch of salt. Food - 5/5 Staff + waiters 5/5 Dining experience 4/5 as the seating is a bit stiff and also sometimes the air can be cold Love it!

Book online or by phone before trying to go here. They are always fully booked, even when they have tables free they no longer take walk ins. Food is fine same as other pizza expresses but customer service is poorer than others.

I called in here one evening whilst I was in Livingston on business. The place is located inside the designer outlet and was quiet when I arrived, but rapidly filled up when a number of groups arrived. Service was fast but rather cold. My food was fine but extremely expensive for what I had - over £21 for dough balls, a simple pizza and a beer was extortionate. All in all it was just OK. Lots of other places nearby that I could and maybe should have gone to instead.

Amazing service! Fantastic servers whom as I have a food intolerance were absolutely amazing with dealing with my food by asking question about what I can take in the food that was being cooked. Would definitely recommend this place and more than happy to go back.

We've never had bad food at PE. Last couple of times though the music has been awful, and tonight the service was abysmal. That said, you go to a restaurant primarily for food and ours (2 adults, 2 kids) was excellent.

It's pizza express. There can't be many who don't know it. Its their standard formula. Accessible pizza / Italian style place in popular locations. It's hard to go wrong. Yes there are some new competitors now who may edge it in certain areas. It's light and airy. Service fine. Menu a little static but that will suit those who just want their favourite dish. The kids menu is great. Almost instant doughballs starter keeps them busy and bambino chino ie milk froth with choc dusting still a masterstroke kids adore. Every visit here seems to necessitate looking up random online voucher codes by phone. Its such a common practice here -shaving a few quid off- that the staff are very relaxed about it.

Did a bunch of shopping at the livingston shopping centre and a very busy Saturday, was faced with a lot of waiting times for other restaurants, was told it be a 20 min wait at pizza express. I however explained to the gent at the door (a Keiran) that my wife is 6 months pregnant and would really appreciate if there was something he could do. Don't get me wrong - I've had really nice food at this, and other, Pizza Expresses, but I was pretty underwhelmed this last time. I had the Padana which, on paper, sounds right up my street, but apart from the caramelized onion and the goat cheese it seemed tasteless. Actually, I think it was the caramelized onion that did it. I think it was too strong a flavour and essentially rendered the rest bland in comparison. Luckily the meal was saved by a delicious Tiramisu, and you can't fault the staff, who are lovely. Also, to be fair, everybody but me seemed to love their selections, so maybe next time I'll just order a Margherita.
