Reviews of Caffè Concerto - Northumberland Avenue
A. P. C.
Beautifully decorated café with a good Italian cuisine and a large dessert menu. The food is well presented and tasty. The service is fast. They offer afternoon tea at a good price with a nice variety of small pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Highly recommended
D. R.
Got a voucher for here. Afternoon tea for less than half price v menu price.
Great quantity of food and staff were so attentive. Venue looking a little tired but well worth the money.
M.
Service is consistently good at all Caffè Concerto's (although you always feel slightly rushed as they remove your plate just as the last mouthful goes in), but they never seem to have Almond Croissants - have been to four now...all sold out. Coffee was passable.
S. L. T.
This is a beautiful place to come eat. Staff a quite friendly especially the young lady who served us. Enjoyed the meal.
G. M.
Flying visit pre Jersey Boys, around the corner. Great option for light bites pre or post theatre. Service fast. Very nice cakes. Glitzy interior. London prices
J. M.
Really nice decor and atmosphere. The cakes never disappoint but the staff is the highlight. On shift was Alex and Carmen, they're both great. We witnessed Carmen handle a difficult situation with such grace, calm, professionalism and kindness. We were both made to feel very welcome. Amazing place, will come back and recommend to others.
R. N.
We required a good meal prior to a nearby concert and Caffe Concerto didn't disappoint. Despite not having a booking, they fit us in and we ordered a risotto dish and a gnocchi dish; both were quite good. We also enjoyed a wine and an after meal espresso. Service was efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back.
M. E.
Staying at a nearby hotel, this was very convenient to walk. Seated very quickly, yet after looking at menus, waited 5-8 minutes for our order to be taken by an unenthusiastic and uninterested server.
Surprisingly, the food came very FAST, but faster than tea, water, or Orange Juice.
Eggs Benedict: average with a very thick and dense muffin.
Ham and cheese Croissant: average and I would order something else if I went back.
So, I might go back, but only because of the location.
(But the pastry case looked amazing!)
F. A.
The location and the look of the place is so pretty! The service was really good as well my only issue is that the price of the food was not matching its age lol I got the tart and mille feuille and they both tasted about 1-2 days old deffo not fresh so kinda disappointed. My friend got the pancakes and they were great
D. M.
This was a passing by, we needed a cup of tea, and Caffè Concerto was convenient type of decision.
Prior to writing my review I had a look at what others had stated. My experience of the establishment was positive in everyway. There are some mixed reviews that some just feel plain mean, Caffè Concerto deserves more than a three star average, it really does.
We started with the much needed cup of tea, which was served promptly and in a cheery manner, the waiting staff were young and pleasantly playful.
We were ready for a spot of food and instead of traipsing of to find somewhere else we stayed where we were, the cakes looked delicious. Cake was ordered for my wife and I had risotto, both were wonderful. My risotto was hot, tasty and plentiful.
We sat at the outside tables, and an hour and a half disappeared in a flash.
Well done to all involved.

Best cake I’ve ever tasted Amazing
Place and wonderful staff so
Good 👍🏻
A. K.
Food and drinks were nice, service was slow, and toilets were horrible.
E. p.
Gorgeous cafe, went for family of 4 brunch , the staff were nice , reason not a 5 star Is because of eggs Benedict, eggs were hard not runny as they should be, two paninis and bacon sandwich were nice but the price £85 wasn't so nice
R. R.
Actually impressed with this place. Food was excellent. Service was spectacular. I was able to buy coffee cups and they we’re very pleasant with me. Definitely worth going for breakfast. The food cost the same as the hotel and was very delicious.
R. K.
I really enjoyed this restaurant!
My dad and were greeted warmly and seated at a very nice table.
Our server was very good.
There is good air conditioning.
All in all this is a very nice place to go and have a peaceful time away from the hustle of the city.
A. D.
Very nice staff. I met Alexandru there and I was completely surprised to see how kindly and nice he is with customers. I will definitely go there again !
L. Y.
Nice dining ambience as it exudes the old Vienna cafe charm. Frequented by tourists, they serve a decent full English Breakfast, priced at £8.95 (excluding drinks). They also serve a great variety of dessert.
The overall food and beverage price is slightly on the higher end. A discretionary 12.5% service charge is added to the bill.
Complimentary free wifi is available, just ask the cafe attendant for the password.
Y. I.
Walked in today to buy myself a cup of tea, as I was super early for my interview at the near by Greene King pub. As soon as I walked in, I felt inferior, as it looked so posh, the men looked posh in their attire and the music sounded like it was for a certain type of clientele. It reminded me of a boutique hotel I did a 2 week work placement at 3 years ago in Knightsbridge. I was surprised at eh price of the cup of tea, I thought because it was so posh, they'd charger me £7 or something. I recommend this shop.
M. S.
This is one of the more spacious cafe concertos I've been in. Reasonably friendly staff. I had a lovely pot of tea (2 cups). My 4-star rating instead of 5vis because I was fairly sure the price for tea was £4.35 but I paid £5 in cash and only got given 10p change. I was going to leave the 65p as a tip and I'm not sure if I misread the menu. Some less patient patrons might complain about the wait to get the menu despite the cafe only being half full.
R.
I'm a frequent diner at Cafe Concerto, Northumberland Av. I stay in a hotel nearby when in town and have been going there for many years. The staff are always fantastic. And I see there is a new manager, Daniela, who keeps up the tradition of great service and customer dining experience. Honestly, it's thanks to excellent staff like her that keep me coming back year after year. Big thanks to Daniela and to Cafe Concerto! Richard.
N. R.
Nice and friendly place, its a chain but this venue is definitely better than the average caffe concerto. Good to sit in for a while
L. W.
A very nice place for quick and good breakfasts. The service was quick and very good, although it was "a rush hour" and the price was very decent. There was also one breakfast just for vegan like us and good option for kids (pancakes)
h.
I love the desserts here, so tasty! If you pass by grab a slice of Cortina cake! They serve hot food here which is 'alright' but I do takeaway mostly and the packaging of the cake slices is so pretty. Recommend going here if you're looking for afternoon tea, an upscale venue at a decent price.
M. A.
the best restaurant with the most delicious food the best coffee I drank wonderful cocktails .. very hospitable and with a wonderful culture..you are all very good and I hope to see you very soon ❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
J. B.
Excellent food and service for both breakfast and evening meal. Compliments to front of house and chefs all staff very pleasant and accommodating
Thank you will visit again when in London
M. R.
I was dreaming of the cakes at this place since we did the Trafalgar square tour. Very nice cakes. We had the miller feuille cake, cherry frangipani and the most delicious lemon cheesecake! Totally worth the wait and the price. Coffee was a bit strong for me and when my husband asked for his to remade as it tasted burnt the waitress named Ioana replaced it without any fuss. She returned to ask if all was good and to our liking. Enjoyable afternoon tea
K. F.
Nice food , good atmosphere and good service , a little pricey for what it is but you are central london so fair enough
T. S.
What can you say when a cafe gets everything right, thank you comes to mind. Great tea, hot chocolate to write about and pancakes that will be remembered for a while
D. P.
Out of 10:
Service: 10
Atmosphere: 10
Architecture/Design: 10
Quality: 10
Decent price: 10
Quality/Price balance: 10
Additional comments: I went for desserts to take-away. The service was great and the pastries were delicious! highly recommended.
J. P.
Was disappointed in the portion size and quality considering the price, but the manager in charge was very kind and helpful with everything we needed. We didn't feel rushed and the interior of the cafe is beautiful.
T.
Called in late (10:30pm) after a show. Closing time is 11pm. Ordered quickly and was served quickly, with enough time to enjoy our meal and bottle of wine.
U. A. W.
Located on the way from Trafalgar square to big ben and parliament... nice ambiance, well presentation, excellent decor, good customer service, fresh and tasty food , and clean washrooms
2. H.
Very good portions. Enough to share.
Tasty cocktail.
OOS few items.
Friendly adequate service.
A. W.
As you can see we ate EVERYTHING up - very delightful cafe with good food. Service was a bit odd with the staff talking between themselves across the room, also will hit you BIG time in the hip pocket... but hey Location?
M. M. N. (. M.
Fast service and friendly. You can feel the selected quality ingredients. The taste is better than normal chain restaurants, but still nothing to mentionable. If there would be a fusion or type of cuisine in a direction. Specialisation or so.. but Me and my business partners did enjoy the food. However, somehow I had a bit of the expression to order quick, order now drink before and after, and if you finish with dessert please pay your bill and next.. we had to go somewhere else to finish our conversation. 2020
H. S.
Best breakfast I ever had in the westend. It was scrumptious. Deserve higher Mark's.Outstanding
J. B.
Food was amazing. Service was terrible from Peter and Jamil. Both were wiping their noses then serving customers, arguing with the manager in full view of customers, very rude when taking orders and said they never had fresh orange then served fresh orange to the table beside us.
T. Y.
The place is well decorated and The food is very good but the attendants must be more attentive. It took ages to someone look at us every time we want to order something.
M. A.
Excellent Service and the food is delicious. I ordered Risotto with Mushrooms and I liked it. I would recommend it
J. E.
I paid 2£ extra for a tiny scoop of ice cream to be had with crepes. Bigger scoops please.
S. D.
First time here. Elegant restaurant front and even better inside. Loved the interior furnishings and decor. Very nice and welcoming. Fabulous Italian food and great service. Are here on the last day of EOTHO. Would come here again, good menu choice although didn't have one main dish my son ordered nor the American-style pancakes for dessert.
N. B.
Very basic restaurant, looks very fancy from the inside . for my opnion offers a large scale of desserts with hot drinks but for not decent prices. I would not recommend if you are not on a mood to waste much of money...
L. M.
Decor is awesome. Busy with tourists. Great to treat yourself with a cake. The service is kind and professional.
L. N.
this place was beautiful. i loved the customer service especially from daniela and amina. exquisite food chefs are amazing!!
S. F.
A beautiful cosy place in the heart of a busy megacity. Staff are very nice, helpful and welcoming.
I. P.
Good food, but the service was a little slow and prices seem quite a bit higher than pre pandemic
M. L. T.
Nice food. Okay service. Okay price for London. Could do without the 'discretionary' 12.5% service charge that most people are too embarrassed to remove!
K. M.
Just had two course meal on their special £12.95 deal. Both my wife and I had the tomato and lentil soup which was delicious. My wife had the butter nut squash risotto and I had the salmon salad which again were both delicious. We were served by Pieter, he helped us with my wife's special diet requirements and was was also very polite. It wasn't very busy when we arrived so was served very quickly so no complaints about the service at all.
M. C.
Very nice selection of cakes. Coffee tastes amazing - very authentic. Service was really nice and prompt. Outside seating is great as you get a lovely view of Trafalgar Square.
V. R.
It is one of a very popular places in London but became very pricey
S. G.
This was one of the best restaurant experiences we have had worldwide. The food was excellent and the choice of vegan dishes outstanding! Claudia and Adina were extraordinaire. Such attention to detail and service! Amazing. Please give our regards to them. We will promote and visit again! People need to experience this place.
Here’s from Hollywood!

Myself and my dad visited London last month for Christmas and we went to Piccadilly and then to Trafalgar Sq. We were so tired and wanted to have a coffee, looked around and saw this place and went in to have a coffee. We ordered cappuccino. My father really liked it. Good cappuccino and "top class" service. Never seen such a good coffee shop in North America. Happy New Year 2020 to the staff.
C. D.
One of the better cappuccinos I have ever had. Have come back many times
T. V.
Overpriced (had a tart that could have been bought from a supermarket sold to me for £6. Looked bad, tasted good, not what I expect for £6). Service is passable. Last time I went we had to remind the waitress 3 times that we wanted water, and had to remind her she'd forgotten the tart. Setting is nice though.
B. H.
It's expensive but you're paying for the location and atmosphere. The food is okay but looks pretty
n. s.
Staff were friendly, we had an afternoon tea package with prosecco and it was very tasty. A bit expensive at full price, so would have not eaten here without having it on offer. Only negative, toilets need to be better maintained. Wife said ladies had no toilet roll, but once told the staff sorted straight away.
N. A.
Found the staff to be very accomodating, food
we found to be great and that is when we also eat at Boyds whilst visiting london which is a good way of making a comparison.
Pasta Dish brothers wife had she said was very good, brother enjoyed his dish, me and my son had a nice big wedge of cake.
Being happy with the place, we decided to go and try the breakfast there the next day.
As for the toilets, my partner and my son used these and both would have commented should they have been nasty, hence we tend to judge a restaurant by it's toilets.
I love the decor and it's great that it is only a stone throw away from where we stay ( Club Quarters ) 😁
A. J. J.
Decor its awesome . Busy with a lot of tourists But great to treat yourself. Cakes looks amanzing and you cant pass without having a piece of cake. The service its kind and our server Cristina make our day. Lovely staff :). Thank you .
V. S.
The interior is very attractive, we had ordered hot dessert and chocolate milk shake both were very delicious.
The missing human touch of staff toned down our evening a bit, mgmt need to address this to avoid customers running away.
zero for staff and three star for food quality
P. F.
We we looked after by Adina Florentina who was really friendly and helpful. We had coffee and cake and both were very good. Interior was nice but toilets need a little work as these are dated.
A. U.
Excellent espresso, really enjoyed it, the bruschettas though were dry, with no olive oil, salt or whatever condiment which is quite surprising.
The pistacchio cake in my opinion isn’t much
Service wasn’t bad when we finally caught the attention of a waiter
A. M. G.
Great cakes and good service. Staff were very kind and accommodating with our toddler. No baby changing facilities but next door Garfunkels allowed us to use theirs.
M. P.
Lovely food, seafood salad was yummy as was the red velvet cake. Just remember it's London prices
w. k.
By far the best cake ive ever eaten i genuinely came out in tears. Coming back tomorrow !! Will happily pay 20 quid for a piece of cake and two cups of tea. Lovely waiter too
M. H.
While strolling along Northumberland Ave I was stopped in my tracks by the out-of-this-world deserts displayed in the window. We went inside and I'm so glad we did!
Inside it was incredibly cozy and the service was great. Even better was the drinking chocolate and cake I had (choosing just one desert was incredibly difficult).
We relaxed until closing time and considered it a perfect end to a night on our visit to London.
J. W.
Have been here several times when we're in London. Good menu, lovely food. Have had drinks and snacks lunchtime and main meals in the evening especially after going to the theatre. Good service, very friendly staff, amazing pastries.
R. T.
Good food and great service from Adina Florentina
D. S.
Hot chocolate not tasty. Pleasant place.
S. M. F.
In our way to visit Trafalgar Square we spotted this restaurant and their cakes call our attention since the beginning so we decided to enter to taste them. We were welcome there by Ana María. She gave to us a table with a sofa and we stared to feel the atmosphere of the place. We like a bit of noise when we go for coffee as we are Spanish we like that lovely vibe that make us feel welcome. We had a delicious Mille feuille and chocolate mousse. All I can say it’s I have no words to say how tasteful they are that we ended up buying some more to take home with us.
M. D.
I have visited this place a couple of times recently. The cakes/hot choc were tasty but the QUALITY of the service from Alin and Cristian was terrific! Such friendly and professional people, I wish all coffeeshops had such great people like them!
H. L.
We visited 2 weeks ago with the family and we had the best service from the waiting staff. They were brilliant in taking our order and especially with the kids as they took time deciding but they were patient and very friendly. The coffee was the best, it was better than I've had anywhere in a long time. Thank you @caffeconcerto
A. R.
Coffee was good, but service is super slow!
B. C.
A pleasant visit to Caffè Concerto yesterday.
Decor inside looked great
Would definitely visit again once everything opens up.
R. H. C.
I went for afternoon tea on a weekday. We had a wonderful time. They treated us amazingly, we were almost alone and the service was wonderful. The portions are big and everything is delicious. Definitely recommend it.
S. B.
Awful pistachio cake, don't try it, tastes like yeast, it has nothing to do with pistachio. Soya cappuchino okay, waiters are quick and polite. Nice place to sit down in bad weather, but clearly overpriced compared to the quality.
m. h.
Introduced my husband to the wonderful caffe on Northumberland Avenue. He was very impressed and said that his soup was a meal in itself. Treated like royalty by all of the staff especially Paulo whose recommendations were superb. Visit each trip to London - cakes to die for.
P.
Quality of food, place with a good atmosphere.
N. M.
The place is elegant and classy. I walked in with hight expectations but without checking reviews. Food is less than average. I ordered Pasta and it was half cooked and hard.
P. L.
Wowww soooo nice 😋😁 fantastic afternoon tea 😇
R. K. B.
The cakes were delicious but the staff were very grumpy and we felt very unwelcome. They weren't even stuffy, just grumpy and snappy. Asking about dairy free products went down like a lead balloon!
Z. Z.
We ordered the concerto salad, which supposed to come with the goat cheese, but served with Parmesan instead,. We asked and they added goat cheese clunks on the top. Food is just okay. Liked their coffee with liqueur. Over all, it was a good experience.
J. B.
Great, beautiful place to take a break for some food and afternoon tea. Slow service.
O. F.
Good service and nice food & coffee :)
S. H.
Everything was great. Delicious food. Service charge was a surprise for already pricey food. But it was a great experience 😊
M. P.
Pertfec place, tasty food! Recomemded
C. E. K.
Great service and amazing food
k.
Absolutely amazing. So many vegan options, so delicious. Not too expensive. The decor is amazing. Staff are so helpful. 10/10.
D. C.
The pancakes and iced coffee was really good and I'd give it 5 stars for that, but the service was horrible and the staff really looked irritated and annoyed about anything. I also despised that I had to pay 12.5% service fee for the terrible service I got....
M. S.
Nice place. We tried the chocolate cake and the Continental breakfast and they were so good! Unfortunately it's also very expensive (this 2 things plus 2 cappuccinos = 16£ eating in)
C. F.
All-day afternoon tea.. glad to have a place like this that you can walk-in and have an afternoon tea without booking! Although, some changes to the menu due to dietary requirements might not be accommodated.
P. S.
Cristian Ionut helped getting Siciliana Rigatoni spaghetti customised according to our vegetarian needs and it turned out to be utterly delicious..
We also ordered Mushroom Arancini which was tasty..
Thanks Cristian for the recommendation !!
We will surely recommend and visit again !!
t.
Popped their for afternoon tea, on the whole not bad experience. Scones and cakes very nice, sandwiches a bit dull. Pity they do not offer loose tea.
D. B.
I really enjoyed the experience, food and service was quick and great.
The lady who looked after me Cristina, was very professional and friendly.
I will definitely go back!!
E. S.
A decent coffee shop and omnipresent chain in London. Offering ample selection of cakes, wines and champagne. The place is a bit cramped and tables are closely next to each other.
s. m.
Had a great experience with my group here for a dessert spot. I'm allergic to a lot of foods, but the smoothie I got that night was great.
J. H.
Excellent food, staff could not have done more but were unobtrusive. Prices fair.
M. T.
Great location. Amazing vanilla and honey latte, worth to try.
D.
Aimed at tourists heading to the shows in the evening this place offers above average food at above average prices. The service is Impersonal yet efficient but the place lacks any discernable atmosphere.
E. 7.
Great ambiance, place with character. We were there for Tea for Two mid afternoon...Server Gabriel was rude!, Not courteous. Place lost 2 Stars because of service.
J. M.
It was a very pleasant experience whilst we were visiting London. Both the service and food were great.
I. K.
Very nice place, great decor, friendly and attentive staff. Food is well presented and delicious. Fabulous selection of cakes too.
P. J.
Considering you're just off Trafalgar Square, the prices are very reasonable. The food was nice and there was a lot. The waiters were very pleasant.
J. H.
The restaurant looks very fancy but we got a seat where we could see a high window to the kitchen and the window was dirty so it ruined the mood and there was obviously some frustration going on between the staff.. The starter was not good i have never tasted bad bruschetta before but the main course was excellent although no one asked us if we liked the food.
D. W.
Delightful, excellent service. Very helpful made a mistake with my order changed with no problems. Great food.
D. M. W.
Relaxed environment, good service.
M. J.
Good and quick place to eat.
E. C.

It was a quick stop and I didn't take any photos

Came with friends for tea time : very good tea , coffee and cakes served !
M. F.
Not a bad place but over - priced for the quality of food. They need to up their game.
V. H. S.
Great service and decor. The hot chocolate was not rich enough for my taste but that's me being picky :-)
T. A.
We had a really good meal in the evening also bought cakes during day time both were gorgeous
V. D.
Great service and good selection 👍
A. M. M.
The food is alright but it pretends to be a posh place when it is only a tourist trap. Nothing special
K. G.

As if Italy's Cafe landed in London!
Yes, the interior is 'fake posh' but it does the job: it's comforting and 4eminds you for your holidays in Italy.
Busy, surprisingly busy: a constant flow of customer flooding in though the door.
We had a voucher with an Afternoon Tea and it was nourish. Sandwiches selection was great, 4 scones (for two people) with fresh cream and jam, also mini cakes that.. we could not finish eating (so had to take away with us!).
Cannot fault the team, but buying extras is extremely pricey.
Would definitely come back for a quick espresso and great slice of cake: it's those cakes that you cannot walk past their cafe window..

We visited for breakfast and had a great meal with great service.

(Translated) The design is beautiful, that's why I went in, but then I was disappointed.
The menu says that a cafe with history, great pastry chefs and incredibly delicious cakes and sweets, known since 1929.
And then the legend is not confirmed, and small details create the impression of cheapness. The sofa is shabby and cracked, the chandeliers are obscenely dirty, and the flowers are artificial. An adult man casually throws the menu and runs away, although later he smiled sweetly at me and other guests)
I drank coffee latte with almond milk, the coffee turned out to be watery and I did not feel any alternative milk.
At the entrance there is a showcase with cakes, I looked, I was not tempted by the appearance, but a black cake was brought at the next table, it was crooked and sloppy. I am sure that a good pastry chef would not have produced such a cake.
I haven't tried the breakfasts, but they look good with other guests, and judging by the number of guests, the place is popular.

(Translated) It should be noted that it is a quiet and cozy place, very well decorated and with a very good presentation of the products.
Its location is fabulous, very central next to Trafalgar Square.
On the less positive side are their prices, as they are excessively expensive. The quality of the products is good but it does not justify its price at all.
I recommend it to get to know it, but not to return, as there are many places of equal or better quality at much more affordable prices.

(Translated) This chain has several restaurants in London. We went to the same place twice because we liked it very much there. Both the food and the service were good. We had dinner once and 'afternoon the' once. Satisfied customer.

Tevreden klant.
