Reviews of Flavours of Naples
M. B.
Really impressed with this little spot. Truly authentic and flavourful dishes. Even though place was very busy on Saturday evening, we did not feel rushed or not looker after. And an opera singer was such a unique touch, customers were singing along... really beautiful evening!
D. T.
Fantastic friendly cafe/restaurant, lunchtime specials are terrific. Wild boar ragu and seafood stew are exceptional. Highly recommended.
L. G.
A little bit of Italy in Borough! The food is genuinely authentic, with daily specials always on slate. The food is cooked to order so super fresh, and served by attentive and friendly staff. The wine list is perfect, with a suitable wine to accompany your meal, and if you’re not sure, the waiting staff are really helpful. You can also order to go. Love this place, and will definitely be returning.

We ended up here by chance after going to theatre nearby.
There was an opera singer singing and a couple slow danced! The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.
What an unexpected find (and experience); we felt like we were on holiday.
K. J.
A genuinely lovely little restaurant. The staff were absolutely charming and the food delicious. Live jazz to boot. Highly recommended.

Wow! Right from walking through the door the service was amazing. Top quality food that is enhanced with a great selection of wines. To top it all off live opera! You heard it right James Schouten with a great selection of songs @schouten92. Call in on Friday for an experience not to be rivalled. Chiro and the team can't do enough for you. 10 stars if I could! Fish stew is out of this world
K. S.
Amazing pasta (it tasted like homemade pasta) good environment and friendly staffs.
A.
One of the best Italian restaurants we've been to in London. It's a small but cozy restaurant and the staff is very efficent and friendly. The food was really good and very similar to what you can find in Naples. Prices are reasonable. We went on a Friday night and there was a tenor singing, which was nice at the beginning but a bit uncomfortable after the second song (because the place is very small and it was difficult to speak while he was singing).
C.
The classic neighbourhood Italian restaurant - cozy, friendly service, Italian classics and high quality specials. It's deeply connected to the community, very cozy and welcoming, and reasonably priced. I recommend to anyone in the area.
J. M.
A top notch family restaurant with delicious food, lovely staff, and opera music on Friday evenings!
It’s a local gem, and I recommend it to all my friends. If you’re in the mood for stepping back to the flavours of your last Italian holiday, this is the place.
Would recommend the lasagna, their fish dishes, and the tiramisu hits the spot (if you’d like a treat).
V. V. T.
This is place a little hidden gem. The owner is one of the top chef in London when it comes to Italian cuisines. Absolutely amazing food. I never liked pasta no pizza but Chef Ciro Costagliola changed this. Their pizzas are to die for. He makes amazing fish stews that I guarantee you will go back for me once you try, I did few times. Its cozy, friendly stuff and they have entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. Highly recommend if your after proper Italian food that will transport you all the way back to Italy.
V. L.
Great little cafe/restaurant. A very intimate space. Food was good but not great. The lasagne being rather too full of tomatoes. A mussel and clam linguine was excellent if a little salty.
Would definitely return.
G. C.
One of our favourite places to eat in London. Ciro is a wizard in the kitchen, the food is great quality, always delicious, and such a warm welcome every time. Just go.
m. k.
Very good food, comfy interior and atmos, usually have a gripe with restaurant music but this time it was nice, so much so that I commented on it. Friendly service too, would recommend!
G. B.
One of the rare authentic restaurants left in central London. We stumbled into it one of the Friday nights when they had a live opera singers performing at the venue. Almost all the diners were Italian - which speaks for the food quality and authenticity. Had a delicious and very reasonably priced dessert along with very good music. Friendly service. Will return for a full meal!

An excellent pre- or post-theatre menu for walk-ins. Extremely high quality Southern Italian food, generally well-presented, well-priced and well-served. Expect a larger range of flavour and texture that you’d expect at a much higher-end restaurant.
The highlight is their “frozen espresso” machine, the secret component of their first-rate Espresso Martini.
D. S.
Exactly what you want from an Italian restaurant. Real Italian staff, real Italian customers, real Italian charm.
Lovely filling, food. The burrata is a must. The pasta is exactly the hearty meal you are looking for. Great service including a complementary drink on arrival and extra touches to make the whole experience complete.
Delicious from start to finish, and all in a cosy, atmospheric restaurant with a well refined menu and reasonable prices, that has kept its atmosphere when so many others have lost theirs.
J. K.
Delicious Illy flat white with skim and soy milk available. Absolutely gorgeous sweet raisin bread for breakfast. Loads of other tarts, cornettos and desserts available from early morning onwards. Set up shop here to work on laptop with plug and everything, great spot for a bit of work 👍
M. B.
Great atmosphere, wonderful service and lovely food. Will definitely be back!
J. D.
Came here because of Google reviews and all of them are right about the amazing food! I had the special of risotto with cuttle fish and squid ink. I've had similar dishes along the black sea and the version here beats them all. It was SO good I ate it before i could take a picture. Then I had the tiramisu due to the raving reviews. It may be one of the best tiramisu I've ever had. The cream sauce is thinner than I've experienced but it was so good I'd actually drink it. Also they offered I could have a glass of a "bottle only" wine which was nice. And keep in mind they only take card or mobile phone payment. No cash. This place deserves more recognition for sure. Very cozy atmosphere and some of the most attentive and pleasant staff I've ever gotten.
A. W.
Very yummy lasagna
Beautiful plate🤣
D. L.
Cute, cozy little spot for great Italian food.
Came here with my family because we were in the area and this place was recommended by Google Maps as popular with the locals. The food was great, the service was great, and the prices were very reasonable. Would definitely come again to try their lunch and other options
L. A.
Small portions served here, but the food is good and the restaurant has a great vibe.
S. G.
Small gem in the midst of borough high street with a live opera every weekend, which is super impressive (& if I'm not mistaken, performed by the owner himself!)
S. W.
It's an amazing small restaurant ,small menu but all hand made pasta and the chef specials fantastic. Fridays are the best as they always have a classical operatic person to sing to you whilst eating . You will not be disappointed eating here .
A. R.
Good wholesome food, and was fun to have been there on the Friday opera night. Do order a side of the bread and olives, they're great.
M. I.
It feels like on holiday coming here on a Friday evening , eating lovely food and listening to opera.
A. W.
Really enjoyed my pizza and the staff were super friendly and polite 😊
t. r.
It was a bit different, they had an opera singer to entertain, the food was fine, very basic Italian.
M. J. D.
My girlfriend and I live 30 seconds walk from here and we regularly visit. The food is very fairly priced, the atmosphere is authentic Italian and the regular changes to the specials board keeps us coming back. You can spend £30 on dinner for two or £80, depending on what you want.... regardless you get your money’s worth.

Pasta dishes made to order, nice tasting sauces, quick and efficient service.

Authentic Italian restaurant. Good food, good wine, reasonable prices.
N. E. K.
The ravioli was amazing, perfectly cooked.

A really nice and tasty octopus special, followed by homemade ravioli (which was delicious) and a seafood risotto. solid, tasty cooking. Really nice and friendly staff
A. M.
Stumbled across here to have a works meeting but the staff who sat us was pretty rude. Basically told us to order food or leave. Would have eaten here but because of his pushy/rude nature we left to eat elsewhere.
Coffee was ok.
M. G.
Fours stars is better than average but not perfect. So a pretty good score. The customer service was the best you could get, truly. However if the burrata was to die for, I did not found the main woooow, but good. I LL say I liked it but I won't necessarily come back. Saying that some of my friends loved it... So a tough rating !
N. B.
We really ejoyed this cozy restaurant last Friday. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. They were thoughtful to offer those who don’t drink a very nice non-alcoholic cocktail, so I felt truly included. The atmoshere is typically Italian and unassuming. You need to walk via the kitchen to the toilet, and that’s fine! It’s the food and atmosphere that counts!
A. H.
Pasta dishes made to order, nice tasting sauces, quick and efficient service.
C. R.
So first of all, the staff are fantastic and the food is brilliant. They also have a great selection of goods such as dried pasta and wines to enjoy at home.
It is expensive but the food is amazing so the decision of whether or not you are willing to spend money on good food is up to you and irrelevant to its rating. I'm more than happy to spend my money here.
J. D.
Went there last week and was interested by a dessert. I went for the Tiramisu, but not before being able to see it. It was initially at £6, which I found to be very expensive for a take way so, I wanted to check first. In the end, the lady went to the kitchen to pick it up and show it to me as I also got a small discount but, I had to repeat 4 times that I didn't need a bag to carry it.
In the end, the Tiramisu was good, although not very big compared to the rest of the amrket, we are living in very particular times though but, my advise is to see the food before you are paying for it.
D. Q.
“Flavours of the Opera” on a Friday night is an important life experience :D The food/price I would give 4/5, but the overall experience and local feel bumps it up to 5/5.
E. M.
A really nice and tasty octopus special, followed by homemade ravioli (which was delicious) and a seafood risotto. solid, tasty cooking. Really nice and friendly staff
C. B.
I love this place because it felt really authentic real Italian staff Italian guests and the Opera performance whilst I expected something a little bit cringe was much more than I expected very enjoyable very high level and really learnt a touch of character to the place! I'll definitely come back here again even though the portions are small they are filling wouldn't say it's the best Italian food I've had but the whole package is definitely up there.
T. C.
Fantastic food and great service. All round a very authentic, neat little restaurant. There was a singer on hand as well which was a nice addition. Great experience and would highly recommend!
J. G.
Really great food and very pleasant staff in this small restaurant. Not many places to sit however it is never overly busy when I have visited so they should be able to accommodate you. Take away food is very reasonably priced and tastes excellent. Nice selections of breads an pasta to keep any Italian food fan happy.
E. E.
Small restaurant with a small number of items on the menu but you can be confident that each item is done exquisitely well. Friday evenings they often have live music (opera) and make for an excellent date night.
P. K.
I read some of the low rated reviews - are you serious?
Italian food in London is pretty bog standard apart from this place.. I was blown away from the simple and delicious Bruschetta, to my wild bore pasta dish.. This was by far the best Italian food i have had outside of Italy, the one star people should stick to jars of Dolmio, if you know Italian food, you know its done simple and is very tasty. I only wished i lived closer as i would make this my regular spot. and to top it off Draft Moretti. Keep doing what you are doing. Its not a high end restaurant, its very Italian Cafe style, we visited just before the theater, seriously cant not wait to go back!
W. E.
Maybe expectations where higher after reading reviews here, but not my cup of tea. Food was a bit bland and we had an evening with live music. Would have been better if the music system would be tuned in better and the glasses were clean.
D. S.
A much missed place now I don't work in the area. Loved coming here, the food was always fantastic.
It's a cosy restaurant of the Italian persuasion and the service is great, the food is great, the atmosphere is great. You just know you'll be well looked after.
Next time I'm in the area I won't hesitate to visit.
E. D.
Hidden gem of London! Absolutely love this restaurant, great ambience, fantastic singers and really authentic Italian feel to it. Large food portions and the octopus is amazing!
C. T.
Simple things done well like coffee and a light lunch are a delight and flavours of Naples doesn't disappoint in any way. A friendly local cafe that has a few seats outside to enjoy the afternoon sunshine and there's always somewhere to sit inside too. This should be a staple place on any SE1 locals go-to list.
J. H.
Really lovely little Italian restaurant. Lovely staff who know their stuff and are good for a chat. Ziti with veal was absolutely delicious; ditto the tiramisu. And totally unpretentious. Recommended!
A. B.
Beautiful small restaurant. There was a live guitar player on the Saturday we went which really gave the vibe we were in Italy. The pizza was average but the pasta, lasagne, panna cotta and wine were all excellent
A. L.
Amazing food! We tried the special of the day and maverled at every bite.
We also happened to go on a Friday and were greeted by an incredible opera singer performing in the restaurant.
All in all a crazy good experience.
K. L.
Fantastic place and food! Just had a quick stop with my girlfriend to have some desserts and coffee. Had tiramisu and napoleon passera cake, delicious, fresh! Will definitely return back and recommend to others! Must go there :)))
A. A.
Ciro is an excellent host. Highest quality Italian food and very welcoming atmosphere. Very tasty and good value for money food for lunch, dinner or take-away. Best coffee in SE1.
A. S.
Loved it. Home style dishes, lovely staff, I left feeling tremendously full and happy. Would go back just to sample the dessert menu. 👌
J. B.
Cozy little neighborhood Italian. Good portions at good prices and very personal, warm service. I wouldn't have the lasagne again though - it quite controversially had no bechamel! Maybe how mama used to make it? In this instance I would contend however lovely mama was she was has made a glaring omission.
A. A.
Very Delicious food! I was being nosey and was reading other reviews about this place and i saw some people leaving reviews saying that they had the worse Coffee here and that another place (mentioned) in the borough market does it better, this is tottally fake and ovbviously advertising the 'mentioned' place in the review! Saying this the Coffee here is made the proper way for me it tasted like i was in Italy! Very nice place to dine! Nice one. Thank You
L. G.
Such a wonderful find. Stumbled across Flavours of Naples on a Saturday night, they had an opera singer in and it was such a treat. Great food, really friendly staff at a great price.
K. B.
A real gem. Great ambiance & very good home cooked Italian food. What more could you want!
A. K.
Nice venue - ate the seafood linguine for main, large food portion of linguine pasta however not very much seafood and flavour. The saving grace was the excellent opera singing.
R. V.
Me and my boyfriend had a really good quality time, food is amazing and the staff were friendly. The environment clean and all managed well.I definitely recommend for those who love authentic italian food. Thanks xx
D. B.
Delightful real Italian food made and served by Italians. Prices very reasonable and great service. A must visit venue before Southwark Playhouse.
N.
Not for an important meal but good food. Non seasonal menu, a bit pricy and lots of road noise... but it is authentic food (frozen seafood though), nice staff and much better than what you'll get at Mercato Metropolitano
E. F.
Kind service, delicious food and eventhough an authentic Italian restaurant they still cater gluten free pasta so everyone can enjoy. Top place
P. S.
Genuinely a wonderful restaurant, the host was so welcoming, food was incredible. Lamb ragu rigatoni should be on the menu all the time!
M. D.
Authentic, friendly. The quality of the food is fantastic. Worth a special trip for people who care about their food. Informal, welcoming atmosphere. Has a strong following among locals.
P. C.
Authentic Italian restaurant. Good food, good wine, reasonable prices.
D. L.
Very good Italian coffee (and this coming from someone who actually IS from Naples). They also have a lot of Italian products inside and the staff is quite knowledgeable hence very helpful if you need a hand to choose
A. H.
Have the special if you eat here. Mine was seafood Ravioli. It was delicious. Outdoor seating. Nice staff. Good service.
N. E. K.
The ravioli was amazing, perfectly cooked.
E. B.
Great service food and ambiance. Value for money and overall a lovely experience. In recent days enjoyed breakfast lunch and dinner here and really appreciate the friendly environment.
L. D.
I had the most amazing & authentic italian food. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Definitely recommend it.
R. B.
Really pleasant place for lunch if you work locally or are visiting the Borough. The menu choice seems better than in the evening (when it also seemed to me to be a tad more expensive).
I. N.
Delicious pizza and fresh tasty pasta. I genuinely felt like I was back in Naples. Will definitely be coming back when in this part of town.
D. T.

Go here! Outstanding. The charcuterie board was amazing, ravioli was stunning, steak was perrrrrrfect. Great evening.
G. W.
Real flavour of ltaly, traditional simple menu from an Italian family done with passion, plus live opera singer thrown in on Friday evenings, a gem

(Translated) Very lucrative and small restaurant. It is very cozy here and you feel very comfortable!
The food was delicious too! However, the lasagna was not 100% delicious, it was more like Bolognese without pasta, but still good!
