Passed by and decided to have a quick lunch. We were hosted by the owner who was very kind and also made the delicious food. We had a warm caponata and the cotoletta alla milanese which I strongly recommend. There were no other people in the restaurant at the time which really surprised us given the quality of the food. Definitely give it a chance. We will come back soon.

Wow, what an incredible experience. It feels fee and far between to find a truly family run, authentic Italian place in London. This is the definition of a neighbor gem- I had the homemade gnocchi with spicy fennel sausage. The spice was really used as a seasoning that built really well throughout the dish, instead of some sort of punishment. My partner had the veal Milanese, perfectly done. Would highly recommend!

Discovered this place one week day when we wanted a quick lunch. One man inside- I think the owner, was italian, super helpful, friendly and served us, worked in the kitchen and sorted the bill and made it a great experience. What a fantastic little place, we will definitely go back. Also very impressed he also has lots of gluten free pasta too!

Lovely, unpretentious family restaurant which is particularly good for families and small children. They could not possibly be more friendly and welcoming or make more of an effort to ensure that everyone has a good time. La Taberna is an Italian restaurant in North London that specialises in Sicilian cuisine. I found the service offered by Mr Nino and his team amazing! They were friendly, welcoming, and knew their menu really well! I had the weekly special: Italian gnocchi in a spicy tomato sauce with mushrooms and Sicilian sausage. For someone who has been in lockdown since 2020, the pasta was a godsend for long neglected taste buds! Tasty, spicy, complex and wonderful sophisticated and evocative flavours! I can't wait to go back soon to La Taberna with my wife. In short, La Taberna is a fantastic Italian restaurant, run by Italians, serving great Italian food! I highly recommend it! You won't be disappointed! 🙂

Had the current specials so can’t recommend a staple from the menu, but they were v good. Note: it’s a real Italian restaurant in London so if you have any appreciation for how rare this is then you need to try this place now. Fresh pasta, fresh cheeses, excellent wine, good cheer.

First time here after a recommendation and really loved the food.. family run business, proper Italian cuisine with plenty of flavour with every main I tried out of 3 pasta’s we ordered. Will definitely be back for the Funghi pasta and definitely recommend their popular bread starter with tomato, olive oil and etc (pic available on google images). 10/10 pasta for what you pay… ✌️

Absolutely amazing, wonderful restaurant. Out of my 24 years living in London, I can honestly say this has hands down been the most delicious, authentic Italian restaurant I have ever visited. The staff are extraordinarily charming and make sure you feel absolutely comfortable and happy. Especially the young girl who makes an extra effort to put a smile on your face. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner! I will continue visiting this gem forever and ever!

Family-run, cosy and casual neighbourhood Italian restaurant. Large menu offering a wide selection of antipasti, pastas and mains. Delicious tiramisu! Really enjoyed the Taberna antipasti selection (pictured) and a lasagne - simple but tasty. Service is very friendly and relaxed.

This used to be our local Italian restaurant. Delicious food prepared and served by a lovely Italian family. I especially recommend the wild boar ragu as the main and tiramisu for dessert, and the generously poured Aperol spritzs before the meal on warm sunny days.

I did not eat at La Taberna but I think they deserve a good review in these challenging times. I had never noticed this little neighbourhood restaurant until last week. I was walking past and saw that they are offering some products to take away. I got a jar of caponata and it was delicious!! The place looks really friendly and cozy, the lady at the improvised shop was really informative and had a warm smile. I will go for sure for a meal and try their dishes as soon as I get the chance!

My favourite Italian is getting busier busier I'm really happy for them - the staff are excellent and will do everything to make it a pleasant and enjoyable experience, I've not had a bad dish here and I think I've eaten most of the menu now. The pasta here is sublime - can I add some meat to a vegetarian dish? No problem! This place is loved by locals so if you are nearby I suggest you go.

This restaurant is an absolute gem and is without doubt the best Italian restaurant around. You can forget about your Zizzis and your Prezzos, if you are looking for highly authentic, high grade Italian cuisine then look no further. Located right in the heart of Islington, La Taberna oozes with charm and warmth and it really does make you forget that you are in Islington and more like somewhere in Sicily. The restaurant is family-owned and immediately you can tell by the hospitality and the sheer quality of the food. I know I am definitely going to visit again soon!

Run and founded by an Italian family, their passion for cooking and the quality of ingredients really stood out to us. The hubs and I popped in for an al fresco dinner when the weather was nice one evening and were bowled over by the experience. The service was top-notch, friendly, and the FOOD. THE FOOD! The bolognese was great but my hubby ordered the lasagna (of which I was blessed to have snuck a bite). It may be the best I've ever had in my life, and I make a mean lasagna! The creamy white sauce was completely unexpected and absolutely delicious. The folks next to us were going crazy over their calamari and the old man on the other side of us couldn't stop talking to himself about how awesome the place was. The dishes and wine are reasonably priced, the setting is cute and everyone there (staff and customers) were so friendly, we wound up having great conversation with everyone sitting outside. I heard the tiramisu is to die for. Next time we'll order that and the calamari. And whatever the old man was having.

Excellent food and service with a large, varied menu. Bruschetta was the best I’ve tried in a long time and the nocellara olives were divine. Sauce on the seafood tagliatelle was slightly too salty for my liking but the pasta was cooked perfectly, as was the seafood. Brownie dessert and complimentary amaretto were a delicious end to a great meal.
