Reviews of Polpo Chelsea
Plenty of outdoor seating hidden away behind the Kings Road. The Resturant offers a lovely selection of small plates perfect for sharing. Every dish tasted amazing and reasonably priced.
Yep, definitely worth a visit. Cozy little restaurant with great food. Don't skip on the tirimisu!
Love this place!! Well located. Food is also great
I'll give it a 3 for its food which, like other Polpo's is consistently good. The issue with this branch is the staff and the service. It's chaotic, although if you are female you will get served quicker for sure. Staff sit at the bar when they are eating despite them having customers waiting to sit down so lost revenue there but maybe no one cares. Tall chap with glasses on talks a lot more than any work he does and is one of the crew that is only interested in serving women. Bar staff rotate more than a carousel with folks that don't even have bar experience so it is all over the place. When it works, it works but when it doesn't which is more often than not, it lets the brand down. I've decided to boycott this branch as a result of service and staff hence why I have only given a 3 star rating else it would be 5. Maybe I'll try again in a few months i.e. 12.
As always. Such an amazing atmosphere and food was top!!!! The Frito misto is a must must must!!!!! It’s great Bec you get a whole lot of dishes and share them. Tasting everything and finding your favourite. The cocktails are so yummy. And the waiters and managers are hands on and good.
The entrance to this restaurant is a little confusing but once inside, you feel you have been exported into a lovely Mediterranean bistro with its wood floors and brick walls.
The place wasn't full yet as we've arrived quite early for dinner but already there was a light-hearted, buzzy atmosphere.
The food was delicious - great flavours and 'sharing' plates if you like the 'tapas' style of eating, with reasonably good service too.
I really look forward to visiting again when the weather is warmer as it has a large outside dining area which I am sure is very popular.
Always good. Wonderfully attentive staff. Fabulous food and great cocktails. Love it.
Lovely prosecco to celebrate my wedding anniversary . Tasty olives. Friendly service
However no Trace and track. Waitress Waiter don't wear mask and not even bother Trace and Track registration. They don't seem to worried about Covid 19
The menu sounds so lovely, but I never fail to be disappointed when I eat at Polpo. It's just about OK, but there are so many better options in the vicinity.
Affordable prices with fairly small portions. For London standards it's good quality. Service could have been better. Recommended overall if you want to try Italian food in the city.
I had dinner there with friends, welcoming staff, nice ambience and delicious sharing food
Food was delicious, décor is beautiful, staff were friendly and attentive but not in the way... Most importantly, the Spritz Veneziano is made correctly (no Prosecco in sight).
Reminded me of being back in Venice :)
Thoroughly recommend.
Visited Polpo for the first time after the pandemic began and was very happy to see that the food was even better than before. Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent restaurant. Great food and ambience. Staff are very friendly and we all had a great evening here.
The food and wine here is very good. The only thing that lets them down is their approach to customer service. Where their sister restaurant in the west end is very good at both food and service, this branch needs some serious coaching.
We saw three people just leaving because they hadn't been served or, by look of it, acknowledged.
On the positive side, because we weren't shrinking violets we got served quite quickly and assertiveness is the key here.
Add a little charm and lots of smiles, and the staff serve you with guarded civility and efficiency.
Good vibes, really nice staff. Food is amazing, full of taste. Lovely fritto misto!
Either pork or beef meatballs are incredible, as well as the foccacia is so yummy! Love the area and sitting outside when it is sunny. It can get really busy and a little queue for the bathroom, but with the wait.
Great range of smaller and larger plates in the Italian/chichetti style. Stand outs were the Chicken Milanese and several bruschetti. Good enough red wine, and excellent service.
Good and decent nibbles. My second visit of the year and food portions seems smaller than before but worth it.
Excellent food, small portions perfect for sharing, almost tapas style, great prices for London too!
I got classic meat ball with focaccia this afternoon with zucchini salad, very tasty. The staffs are very kind. Good place to hang out with friends.
Fantastic, can't recommend enough. Delicious small plates, along some amazing pasta and pizza options. The fritto misto was excellent too. Highly recommended.
Always worth waiting in the long queue for delicious pizzette and ciccheti. The chilli and blue cheese Pizette is worth trying. The Tiramisu is one of the best I’ve tried in London!
Wow! Absolutely delicious.... everything was. Small menu and quality food and flavours. Will return as soon and as often as possible.
Great service, lovely outdoor space, very convenient location at the heart of Kings Rd.
Fresh, flavoursome food!
olpo is a bacaro serving up small Venetian inspired Italian plates designed for sharing and accompanied by classic spritz and cocktails. Polpo prides itself on maintaining the authentic Italian atmosphere and food and it definitely shines through at the Chelsea branch. With only around 35 table covers and a few more at the bar, it felt quite special to get a table! The USP of the Chelsea branch is also its larger L-shaped terrace in Duke of York which would be so perfect for sipping on spritzers in the summer.
We started off with a couple of cocktails at the bar (where you can also enjoy the small plates) which felt very Italian in style. We had the Limoncello Fizz (Wyborowa vodka, Pococello, POLPO Prosecco) and the Clover Club (Beefeater Gin, raspberry syrup, lemon, egg white) which was beautifully presented. There are also a number of spritzers to chose from (obviously)!
The menu is split into Cicheti (Venetian Snacks), Pizettes, Meatballs (so many choices!), Meat & Fish and Vegetables and Salad.
We were recommended to have 2-3 each so, given that we were hungry, we ordered 7 (!) but three from cicheti so surely that’s actually only 5…. We starred off with the Nduja & mozzarella arancini, Potato & Parmesan crocchette and Focaccia & olive oil. The arancini was fantastic (I wanted to order more!) and the focaccia was so addictive as it had a perfect level of salt.
Following this we had a Pizzette – Buffalo mozzarella & tomato and, the Spicy Pork & Fennel meatballs which were the dish of the month and extremely flavoursome with a generous helping of sauce and Parmesan.
Lastly we chose the Crab & chilli linguine which really did pack a punch and a dish I would thoroughly recommend and the Squash, gnocchi, blue cheese & walnuts which was actually surprisingly light.
We just about had room for a dessert – a Hot chocolate pudding, blackberry, & vanilla ice cream – which was melt in your mouth good!
Not only was the food delicious but the service was also great, which obviously adds to the experience. The plates are generally priced from around £3 – £10 so you can order as much as or as little as you want depending on your budget!
There are four other branches of Polpo in London – Covent Garden, Soho, Notting Hill and Smithfield – so am looking forward to visiting some of them!
Love this restaurant, was a wonderful experience, the ciccheti was so good, fritto misto was lovely, arancini, and fish all amazing, the Aperol Spritz were good too! Great staff and very welcoming
Really good food, well priced, quick service
The setting of Polpo in Duke of York Square, Chelsea is extremely good with plenty of outdoor seating. The Bellini was poor, tasting just of Prosecco, but the Aperol Spritz was good. All the food was excellent and served quickly. The servers worked hard and effectively in a pleasant way. We spent a very enjoyable 2 1/2 hours.
Decent food, nice servers but overpriced. Cocktails felt weak also. £1 an olive is slightly too much for a chain restaurant but a lovely outdoor area nonetheless
lovely location, nice tasty food, a varied menu, friendly service, all you want from a restaurant! Recommend!
Enjoyable evening meal there. Lovely staff and good food. Could do with slightly more seasoning but generally lovely
It's great lunch with family to have some tapas dishes and desserts. The best dish was assorted fritto misto.
The menu had no explanation that everything was tapas style and the staff didn't explain either. The food was all basically okay and the mini-pizzas were pretty nice. Decent for the price I suppose.
Delicious food accompanied by the perfect aperol spritz. The best part was Harry’s lovely and friendly service which made the experience a very pleasant one.
My friend and I had a lovely experience!
I first visited a Polpo in Bristol and it was sensational. So I was so ecstatic to see they had branches in London.
The food was delicious, service was prompt and our waiters and waitresses were polite, friendly and attentive.
I will most certainly be visiting again.
Unique food. Lovely atmosphere
Good selection of food. Quick service. Tasty food.
Simple but flavourful pasta dishes, the baby octopus was fun to eat, meatballs were delectable, our waiter was very informative and honest about the dishes and about the portion sizes, which was appreciable.
Food was good, menu made of small plates to share or not, whatever. Pizza was delicious. Restaurant is located in a food area off King's Road, they are never looking for customers. So as to be expected, service is disdainfully casual, as if you're an uninvited guest at their house. No response from staff when you want them, coffee served cold 15 minutes late, order taken according to waitress's opinion, not what you exactly asked for, and so on.
Very convenient place if you happen to be in the Sloane Square or King's Road area.
Nice cooking although stay off the cured pork shoulder Crostini which is basically unchewable.
Prices are very reasonable.
Really a very nice eatery focused on the food without being anywhere pretentious.
Great service, great food and great location! Sas efcharistó
Lovely food with attentive and accommodating staff. Consistently good over the 5 years I have been coming here with my family.
Tapas plates. All the ones we tried were well cooked and tasty
The service was very fast. The food was delicious and felt almost authentic. One of the waitress was not as joyful as I would have liked but that's fine. We had the spinach and parmesan pizzette, the king prawns (delicious) and the bruchetta. The outside setting is nice and cool for a relaxing Italian style summer evening.
Loved this place... Really good find. Food was excellent - kind of Italian Tapas. Quirky and vibrant atmosphere. Seemed to be really popular, with constant queue of people to come in but at the same time we were not pressured to move on quickly. Service was good and staff gave some helpful recommendations of what to choose from the menu.
Arrived with a friend with no reservation and friendly staff found a way to accommodate us, food & wine were delicious and we weren't rushed to pay and leave, we were left completely comfortable just sitting and chatting for a long time even though we weren't ordering anything else. Great evening, will definitely come back!
Good service...food is ok but nothing exceptional...drinks are expensive but it is Chelsea. Great for people watching.
One of those places were you have to order vegetables to go with your meal. The prices look OK (£10 for main) but then add on £4 for potatoes, and £6 for vege, and all of a sudden a single course meal for a family of 5 is £100 or more. The service was OK. But we had a pretty tasteless low skill meal, and I left hungry.
Good quality small plates perfect for sharing. Very affordable for London as well. The service isn't the fastest which is fine if you're not in a rush.
The food was incredible and all the staff were SO warm and lovely. They don’t even work for a tip as service is included-we rocked up on a Friday night at 9.30pm without a booking and they made room for us even though they were packed, and gave us free arancini at the bar while waited! 😋The bartender even came over to us at our table at one point to check on us. Small and cosy and wonderful.
Lovely food, lovely staff. Amazing gnocchi
Affordable prices :) Customer service wasn't great,.. We have been seat from a nice guy and after 15 min we never received the menus.. When we tried to get the waited attention from a girl with the with top, was very rude almost ignoring us and sending someone else, finally we got the menus and we could ordered
A nice place to grab a bite before a concert or a performance. The food is OK, although not outstanding (kind of bland), but the portions are not as small as you'd expect. The staff are friendly, decor is nice and the prices are very good. Overall, a good place to go if you have to grab a quick bite in the area, but not the best I've seen.
Amazing flavors, excellent service, a Tiramisu to die for. Highly reccomended👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Polpo it’s one of most favorite place in summer, love the outside area always great service, fabulous wine
Overall an OK experience. 2/4 dishes ordered were good. The others just average. Service was ok. Very cramped inside. Maybe could do with a table less. House wine not bad at all for the price
Food and service were both fine, but not outstanding. Its much more "Italian tapas" than it is true Venetian bacaro, and I suspect its rise and fall will match the trajectory of other similarly trendy dining chains over the years. At the same time, this part of Chelsea isn't all that well served with sensible places to grab a drink and some food with friends, and this branch of Polpo manages that.
Seemingly good value, but you'll end up spending more than you first think. The food is very good, staff are very friendly but service isn't brilliant. It feels that the service is reliant in the organization of the kitchen, and the impact is felt at the tables. The obligatory 12.5% is therefore a bit hard to swallow.
Stopped by for lunch and found it to be the best so far in my visit. We had Chickpea, spinach & ricotta balls with Tomato sauce & Parmesan (delicious!) and Peach, Gorgonzola & Chicory Salad and Roast Chicken with olives & pea pesto!
A popular restaurant in central of London. We visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. We had to sit outside, and in March, it was lots of wind and cold. You just wanted to eat, pay and leave. The courses were special, but tasty. This was a popular restaurant and this this reflects the prices. Quite expensive.
If you want fantastic small plates of Italian food, Polpo has it covered. Situated in the quiet square next to Saatchi, Polpo is the place to go, 10/10 for Tania and her team!
Impressed by the food: flank, octopus carpaccio, ragu with gnocchi, all excellent, and I mean excellent. Small portions, but priced accordingly. Service was a bit slow, but overall, excellent experience, will come again for sure!
One of my favourite places in Chelsea to eat. Beautiful place, very cozy. Great and funny staff. Beautiful and cheap food. Love arancini and steak here, well, everything. My little gem, next to work.
I am not able to share anything positive about this place. Average small dishes which are quite expensive. Service is quite unprofessional too. Waitresses didn’t know who’s food was . In my opinion Manicomio which is located next to Polpo offers more value for money with better presented meals
Nice place.. Few options in the menu.. Friendly and amazing staff
If you've never tried cicchetti then you need to make a reservation pronto! It's Venetian small-plates (think Italian tapas) and Polpo do it the best. The music can be a bit loud but the staff are friendly and helpful, and my mouth is watering just thinking about the pizette, arancini, meatballs and other delicious delicacies available.
Great for small plates Italian style. I brought my parents in their seventies and my wife and our five year old daughter and everyone happy with food and drink. A stalwart in Duke of York Square.
Huge potential, such a nice outdoor seating area in a good location. But the food could do some improving, coffee was so so too.
Lovely menu and ideal for an outdoor early evening drink. We were served by a gorgeous smiley girl - highly recommended
A wonderful addition to the Polpo franchise and the Chelsea area, it works so well it makes you wonder why it took so long for it to happen!
There are plenty of seats outside which make for a lovely dining experience, particularly in the Spring and Summer months of the year. There are parasols over the tables to protect from direct sunlight or rain (it's London so it's possible).
Inside, you'll find a more cozy and romantic setting, with ambience being relaxed. You can get seats at the bar which can make for a friendly experience as the staff are incredibly friendly.
Perfect for romantic occasions, especially because you can share a lot of the plates if you so desire.
It's a great place to try a variety of different dishes that you can pick and choose from. The foccacia freshly baked and delicious, the arancini is a must as it melts in your mouth and the rabbit terrine is so flavoursome it would be a crime not to have it.
Polpo is known for it's meatballs, and you'll find all of them in their delicious glory here. Whether it's the classic and traditional allo vedova ones, or the pork and fennel seed kind, each one is fulfilling and full of flavour in it's own way.
Finally for a dessert, you can't go wrong with a classic affogato, especially as it's perfect for a small, after dinner sweet treat. You definitely do get what you pay for here, and whilst it's not extortionately expensive, it is great value for a lovely dining experience.
Very good food. Sadly, slightly more Covid chaos seating than was really needed.
Lovely meal. Very friendly staff. Great size meals the pizzas were not overly big which is good as I find most pizzas too big
Greta place for just a drink outside or a more substantial meal.
This place is great, staff work very hard to satisfy customers, they're efficient, decor is nice and food is excellent. In an area like this however its difficult to please to privileged pompous snobs who demand nothing but the best
I found the staff cheerful and very attentive. Food was excellent as was the wine. Crab linguine was lovely. Great afternoon had by all. Highly recommended
Lovely mix of food suitable for vegetarians and a delightful ambience.
The food is excellent, from the mushroom arancini, sea bream to penna cotta. The price is high, however, which will be off putting for some. I certainly won’t be able to eat here every week!
Delicious tapas. Nice setting.
Weekend in London popped to Saatchi gallery early Sunday morning and lunch here. Food service ambiance fabulous loved it. Would love to return evening time highly recommend Polpo!😘
Great food and wine selection. Not many tables inside, however lots outdoors weather permitting... Indoor music so loud you have to shout to hear.
Great to be able to get a table
Food was excellent service 1st class thanks to all
Very nice dec but the food was so so. The fried olives had a fish taste to it. The chilli crab linguine there was hardly no crab meat. The staff very friendly.
Great ambience and decor. The staff is very welcoming and the food is amazing although the portions are a bit small
Quick, decent food and service, great location. Small portions but they do say that so no surprise. Kids loved it
Very good food. Staff members are nice and friendly. Our first time here was definitely something to remember.
The place is superb, the ambience is perfect but the services is kinda bad and slow. The waitress are little bit un-friendly during peak hours time
Bought the cookbook on a whim years ago, stumbled upon this during a walk in Chelsea, so glad I came in. This is better than the Italian food I had in Italy, delicious!
Food was really really good, full of flavour, service was top quality, really friendly with no arragonce, worth going to
Delicious food and very attentive service.
Not a five star because the portions are tiny for their price.
Such good value for this part of Chelsea. Small and bustling, but very efficient and friendly. Very noisy in the evenings. Outside terrace very large
Food is avarage Service isn't so good for such a pkace.
Lovely food. We sat outside as the sun was shining and all good. Not too expensive either.
Pizzetta was amazing and zucchini fries were unbelievable! Also lov d the black cherry lemonade
Food is extremely tasty and full of flavour . Staff friendly and prices are reasonable for the location.
Beautiful food, wine and attentive staff
Food was quite average.
Amazing food but service was a bit slow as the place was very busy, we ate outside as there was no space inside and blankets were provided.
Lovely cake, big enough for 2 & a huge helping of clotted cream, small but nice lattes.
Very lively! Some dishes were hit or miss. But overall eat well. Service was good.
Love this place. Cannot wait for Polpo to reopen. Lovely Foods & Lovely Staff, amazing coffee
We'd get the Gnocchi Ragu and Zucchini fries every time. Friendly service, no rush.
Nice food,drink and service.
Feels like you're abroad 🌞
Lovely food but the portions are small for the price you pay
Wonderful food. Keeping the Eat out to help out programme going themselves. Meatballs!
Good food but small portions. Tables are quite close, still good for a quick lunch.
It’s ok. Expensive and average food. Same as next door which is even more expensive and just ok. Staff ok.
Gorgeous food and amazing location
Very nice food. Delicious and fair price. Service can be a little slow.
Really friendly and nice people working there, great service! We went there to have a late lunch and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming.
Great coffee and atmosphere
Good restaurant with decent selection of food. For two people, go for 5 to 6 dishes at least.
Nice food at a good price. Friendly staff and good service.
Good food, nice location but marking down as there are no baby changing facilities.
Nice Italian place for a quick appetitive. Food is good, so as service.
Ok food, very hard to communicate and off staff. Not the best experience. Coffee machine is broken on top🙄
Nice, great position, staff prepared about the food they are served, in th bill pay the position, I will come back for sure
Great food and very nice people working here. Highly recommend!
Food was very nice but the toilets were awful, which makes you wonder!
Excellent attentive service serving light lunches. The Italian equivalent of tapa.
Lovely restaurant, good wine and food. Waiting staff a bit scruffy!
Great place the food is excellent and the service is great. Summer should be fantastic with the outdoor seating
GNice spot for lunch or coffee, after visiting Saatchi gallery or strolling in the shops of the area. Tasty plates for sharing.
Funky and current. Great food. Most staff were lovely
Just love Polpo. Relaxed, good value and flipping delicious small plates of food.
Reliably great place to eat. Perfect for sharing lots of dishes.
Great food and good service
Great option for a quick lunch or light dinner. Interesting alternative Italian cuisine.
Fun little spot. Good food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere.
Pleasant outdoor seating on good days...small plates, some interesting options like pizzettas...
Awesome service, fair price. The good are the pizzetas, meatballs and chicken. The bad... The risotto!
food very tasty and good. stuff very friendly. it's worth it to come back.
Food is good, price reasonable, service fair.Highly recommended.
Great food and atmosphere...would definitely go back!
Nice menu and location. Stressful atmosphere and slow service.
Good vibes for an aperitif with some friends but small portions.
Only been for drinks but the were good and staff very nice
Good food, small portions. Great service
Fine basic Italian restaurant. Small portions. But good deserts
Food is delicious, small portions, waiter /waitress advice about it.
Nice terrace in the summer, food is above average but not amazing
Very friendly staff, good environment and decent food quality!
Great branch of this fabulous Venetian style eatery serving small plates and fun cocktails

Great atmosphere with good value food.
Fantastic food and lovely atmosphere. I have dreams about the prawns!
Great cocktails & small plates, friendly staff.
Good over all
Great food and wine, friendly service
Beautiful and great to see the brand expanded, yet a bit cramped and small. Most likely a queue, book in advance if possible.
Looking forward to see it open again!
Delicious dishes and cheeky cocktails served al fresco
Excellent food and service. I will visit again
super cosy, meatball super and nice pizza
A VERY GOOD EATERY next to The Saatchi Gallery, Kings Rd, Chelsea
Excellent service. Had a great meal.
Nice waiting staff, mediocre food, not comparable to the Covent Garden one..
Nice to sit outside for a drink. The food is quit bland.

We had got to the area a little ahead of schedule to see the exhibition at the Sachi Gallery so stopped off here for a cup of tea and some hot chocolates. The staff where very welcoming and helpful and soon had the tables rearranged to accommodate our wheelchair. They kindly put the outside heating on without being asked and looked after us very well. The drinks where really nice and we soon found ourselves warmed up and ready for our gallery visit. What a lovely place thank you for looking after us.

(Translated) Small and cozy restaurant, very good pizzas, we ate one with egg and spinach and another Margarita, the correct portion for one person, the price £ 19 with taxes (both) They have a terrace, with stoves and blankets in the same square . If you are in the center and want to eat something quick and at a reasonable price, this is a good place.
