Great pizza with nice flavours, was fantastic value. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bit cramped in the restaurant and toilets are not the best design with sink being behind the door (almost crushed another customer opening the door). Lost a star due to automatic addition of 10% service charge.

The food is great. I had the meatballs, wife had a pizza. Was fairly full at lunchtime but we were served in good time. Only slight thing was the service charge being added automatically to the bill, putting you in the odd position of having to say "please remove that" if you want to tip your server specifically.

We booked the place after seeing the ambience while we were visiting Newcastle.. our dinner was totally worth it.. Being vegetarian, leaves us with few options but this place has some good options.. we just loved the food n drinks - ordered Malfy sunset, roast vegetables pizza and mushroom risotto. Great ambience, very friendly staff and service was quick! Will visit again when in Newcastle!

The food was good and the staff were nice. Lost 2 stars as the pasta portions could be a little bigger and I was a bit disappointed with the fact that there were no vegan deserts. It was also a bit cheeky to add a £15 service charge to our bill. I only tip if I am not asked to do so.

Going for the £15 3 course set menu, we didn't expect much but it was incredible! The mint and spinach mash was ridiculously nice. Would be worth it to pay the full price. Highly recommend

I really can't speak highly enough of this place after our meal last night. From the minute we entered the service and staff were great . We had the fixed price menu 2 courses £12 or 3 £15. I had an excellent salmon and avocado on garlic crustini and he had the belly pork and pear followed by a tuna and chilli linguini and chicken with mozzarella and asparagus- definitely not your normal 'any pizza or pasta '.! Quality was really good and the extra portion of chips were to die for 🤤 we had a vampire beer lager and a glass of montepulchiano and bill came to £43 with service charge. Thank you for a great start to evening 😊

The bar snacks here (cheese and red onion garlic flatbread, and calamari) were AMAZING ! The 2-4-1 cocktails were also really delicious, the bar decoration was really cool and the staff were really friendly to recommend some places for entertainment later that evening after our plans got cancelled last minute.

The staff here were very accommodating. My work team had their Christmas do here and I was going to go but due to changing personal circumstances I didn't feel comfortable staying in public for a prolonged period of time. I called the restaurant in advance to change my dine in meal to a takeaway order and they were happy to do so. I stayed in the restaurant to have a drink with my colleagues and let me tell you, the cherry and frangipane based cocktail was super delicious. Very sweet but scrumptious, like a cherry pie/tart. Will happily go back when I feel comfortable in public. Once I got home, I popped my pizza into the oven to heat it up (I walked home and it was cold) and it was perfect. The hazelnut chocolate cheesecake tasted a bit like Ferrero Rocher, I was in heaven.

Smashing night. Food is out of this world and the service is next level. The manager is very accommodating marking gluten free options on the menu and spending time making sure that we ordered the right dishes for us. The salmon was beautifully cooked and my sister remarked that the steak was one of the nicest she's ever had. This was our first visit to the restaurant but I intend to make it one of my regular haunts. I eat out a lot and can safely say that you'd be hard pressed to find any other restaurant in the city centre with this standard of food and service.

We've been here in the past and had a great time and the food was great. Unfortunately, this time the food was a bit mediocre. The pizza bases were greasy and the crease around the edge looks like the dough has been pressed which probably explains the grease. Service took far too long and we were sat around waiting for over an hour between courses. A friend had the beef ragu pasta and that was absolutely amazing though.

Brilliant! Decided to make a pit stop on our way down to York from Edinburgh, and boy did we make a good decision! One of the best Italian experiences I have had. Also, a special mention to the lovely staff - great people. We had our 9 month old child with us, and they were very welcoming and considerate in accomodating us. If you are in town, do yourself a favor and eat here! 🙂

Went in on Friday after celebrating our 2nd jab, called in on the off chance and the staff were very welcoming. Service was exemplary and the food was just great, really nice atmosphere and just the start to our first time out for food. Only thing I can fault is there were no Olives to pick at.

I first started going to marco polo at 17 years old after meeting the original owner through work and fell in love with the place and the fantastic food. After 30 years of travelling and moving around the world I relocated back to the North East and thought I would call in and see how it compered to the old days. There was always something about the lasagne ( never my favorite bit boring at normal Italian restaurants) that I loved but was holding out it was the same with so many years going by but WOW it was exactly the same I was in heaven. Plus the added bonus that the staff where so friendly and professional Thanks guys we had a great meal

THE VERY BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE, An accident occurred between a member of staff and myself where an item of clothing was damaged from a tray of drinks ending up on me, Margot the manager went above and beyond to rectify the problem, as what could of been a bit of a nightmare scenario was handled with great discretion and a speedy resolution! Credit to everybody who works there and the owners of the restaurant too. Thanks PS the food was great!

This used to be a fav go-to of mine. I hadn't been for about 4 years until recently because I wasn't eating out as much, trying new places and the pandemic hit. Everything was very tasty on my latest visit. Service was great too. The letdown was the menu itself, but hopefully that's a pandemic thing so I'll be back when things are back to normal. The other letdown was the pizza. Although it tasted fantastic, it was the toughest dough I've ever had. It was so much effort to cut and chew. It felt more standard Italian (like Babucho or Prima down the road) than the high-quality I remember it being.

My partner and I enjoyed a fabulous meal at Marco Polos on saturday night. All of the food was delicious and the service was impeccable by a lovely young gentleman called MARCUS. I first started eating at Marco Polos in the early 80's and whilst it has changed hands over the years it is still one of the best meals out in Newcastle.... Highly recommend

Went here for a work night out. We were a large party and seated on three long tables. Food was excellent although I feel a little pricey. Waitress service was OK but somewhat slow. We waited a long time for our food especially between courses. I would have thought more staff should have been working as the restaurant was very busy. It was still an enjoyable evening.

I absolutely loved the food I had. It was my first visit to the restaurant and I would definitely return. We were the first in for the lunch menu and the service was very attentive. We were given recommendations by the knowledgeable waiter. The service remained good as a few more tables filled up. The set lunch menu is very good value for money.

Went to Marco Polo for my Mam and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary last night with the family, fantastic night and the food was absolutely lovely. The staff couldn't do enough, 10/10, my squid starter was gorgeous but the fillet steak I had for my main was something else, been to loads of steak restaurants but they weren't a patch on Marco Polo, far and away the best steak I've had in my life, my Daughter had exactly the same meal as me and she said the same. My Niece and Nephew loved their Pizzas, I had a taste of my Dad's Belly Pork dish and it was beautiful, my Dad loved it, not one complaint from anyone 10/10 for the Chef and the food. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting an Italian meal in Newcastle. Outstanding.

Never been here before, but we were going to see a show at the Theatre Royal. The restaurant is quite small, but cosy. The starters were fresh and tasty, espeically the potato skins and buscetta. The price I thought was expensive for what we had.

Me and my partner went here for out 7th Anniversary, and really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is lovely, we were seated upstairs on a small balcony, only a few tables were occupied so it was nice and quiet. The staff were friendly and took our order in good timing. I had Italian Meats and cheese for a starter, which was really nice, and my partner had risotto. For mains I had Pork Belly which was gorgeous, and my partner had Swordfish with Crab Linguine which he really enjoyed. We both had a desert of Bread and Butter Pudding which was so rich it was hard to finish. All in all we had a great meal, and the total including a soft drink each came to around £70. A lovely restaurant, and I'd definately go back :)

Marco Polo is a pleasant Italian restaurant in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. There is a surprisingly large dining space spread between rooms and floors. The food is very good and there is a wide selection. I cannot fault the service or level of hospitality, but this is certainly not a place to go if you're on a tight budget.

The old addedge, you get what you pay for is absolutely true when dining here. We were a party of 6 with the final bill coming in at a mere £225 inc 10% service charge, that included pre drinks prior to being seated, many bottles of quality wine and after meal spirits. We all had the most fantastic 2 course meals with each person very happy indeed. Service was superior and faultless with all meals delivered piping hot and together, quality cutlery and crockery with knapkins the size of a small duvet. All in all one of the best meals I have ever had in the UK.

The layout is great, even though I managed to get lost a few times! I would say that the staff need to be a bit more attentive, I remember a few times waiting 15+ minutes for our bill.
