Even though the service this time was very slow the manager compensated us with complimentary pizzas which was so kind she didn’t have to! As regulars we always get fast, efficient and friendly service, I think it was a one off. The food is always lovely and reasonably priced! We always return back for a quick dinner or lunch.

Nice pizza, great service they ask you about allergies. 4 stars because the Parimigano was made with tinned tomatoes and the cheese was not enough on the dish. The aubergines were undercooked as well. Definitely not ordering that again.

Posting based on takeaway and eat in. Easily the best place in Reading for pizza. The dough is awesome, does not leave you bloated and the tomato sauce is excellent. Sometimes the pizza can feel soggy in the middle, just ask them when you order it to cook it an extra min and you’ll be fine. Definitely recommend you try this over express prezzo or zizzi.

For a good Pizza - this is the place! Usually I dont like chain restaurants and prefer the experience of a small Italien restaurant. But this time we decided to go for lunch to Franco Manca and I had the tuna Pizza, which was a quite good experience. Only point deduction was that the dough was not so tasty and the presentation of the ingredients was loveless. The tuna still had the form of the can and as you can see on the photo the onion is not really cut.

I was positively surprised by this place. I know it's a chain restaurant and I went years ago with my friend in Oxford and again with my boyfriend in Reading but the pizzas were really good and made with care. They were some of the best Italian pizzas I had in the UK, glad to know there are places like this! I also had an affogato icecream and rasberry sorbetto. All great!

We were unable to book a table and so turned up where we were quickly given a table. Service of first course was very quick. Pizzas were very tasty, not too much base. Puddings were good too. We had cokes and tap water - beer in 330ml bottles was expensive for what it was. I haven't given venue 5 stars as their Covid policy was poor - eg staff didn't wear masks. Don't let this stop you from going but bear in mind.

Can't fault the staff, they were very friendly and attentive. Especially the surfer waiter (sorry didn't get your name). Just wasn't a fan of the food and the table for 2 was almost too small to hold both our pizzas and drinks. Pizzas don't come with a tomato base which I didn't realise so my pizza was awfully plain. It is a good price In there though. I paid £16 for a pizza and an alcoholic drink :)

Never had a bad meal here. Like that the menu changes regularly and the kids menu is very good value for money. Only negative is the toilets aren't that clean and had no soap. Not great especially when we were there 30 mins after they opened.

Ordered a takeaway from UberEats. All items were perfectly delivered (fresh and warm!). Being a vegetarian we ordered the veg items from the menu. The Veg Special 501 stole the show, not sure if it was the caramelised onions or the pesto but it creates this unique explosion of flavors in the mouth which will keep bringing you back to the place. I usually don't eat mushrooms and forgot to mention it as a note so this came with mushrooms and I liked it as it did not affect the taste. Loved the burrata. The garlic bread and Pizza 1 was ok. Wish they did a veg diabolos as I do love aubergines and spices on pizza but couldn't find that on the menu. Highly recommended! Will definitely order again and plan to visit once it reopens.

Delicious authentic pizza, would recommend! Lovely atmosphere too. They say the chicken and lamb sausages are halal, which are also used on the pizza so do enquire. Wonderful service at the beginning, very on-the-ball, but became slower and inattentive later on - we had to go up to the front to ask for the bill after waiting 20 minutes. Choc and hazelnut cake was lovely, however the mint tea was undrinkable as the water smelt oddly like rotten eggs and the leaves hadn't brewed at all.

Excellent pizza. Utterly dismal service. Don't expect to pop in for a quick meal as the gap between your waiter asking you whether you'd like to order anything else, bringing you the bill etc. will run in excess of 30 minutes. Also, the virtual queuing system is a shambles and applied - apparently - at the maitre'd's whim.

First visit to a Franco Manca restaurant (on a Monday) and it was pretty good. The homemade lemonade was rustic but a little pricey for the quantity. The food was nice and they advised of a missing ingredient and what they could substitute it for. Would go back on a busier evening to compare the service

I liked Franco Manca since the very first time I tried it, as it's very similar to the neapolitan pizza. They are very fast in serving, nevertheless I can't give 5 stars because I noticed that the quality of the pizza is not always the same if the head chef is missing. A couple of time I took a margherita and there was no sauce at all, which was pretty disappointing. Next time I'll make sure to have the good pizza chef.

An average pizza. The dough was great, but two of our pizzas came with very little toppings and all of the toppings were on one side, felt like they were made in a rush. The drinks weren't great either, I would avoid anything other than a soft drink.

Very good pizza and consistent high quality as well. Ingredients feel fresh every time. I like how they do different pizza specials every time, which are usually the tastiest in my opinion. Good variety and plenty of vegetarian options. The wine is organic and biodynamic which means it's a lot less toxic and less likely to give you a hangover.

Fantastic food as always, the pizzas were great and the burrata starter is very nice. Service was excellent, very friendly staff. I have dined here on multiple occasions it always has a vegan special which is very good and as well as that you are able to customize pizzas to fit your tastes and needs. It is in a lovely location and is nice to sit outside in the summer. I have never had anything here which doesnt taste delicious it is affordable and I would recommend to everyone :)

Vised the Reading restaurant with 4 of my friends as a leaving do for one of them. I was amazed at how fresh and well made the pizzas were. the atmosphere was busy but alive. services was fantastic having been served by Joanna and Hannah. both did extremely well looking after us and the rest of their tables in the fully booked restaurant. Definitely will be back and thank you for the limoncello on the house for all of us, was a nice touch and a good surprise.

I received really quick and good service. I got checked up on by a couple of different waiters which was good. Awesome pizza for a great price. Definitely going become a regular. They serve wine in small tumblers which I thought is cool. Only downside, they forgot one of the ingredients off the pizza, but prompt service insured I was able to get some on the side.

An amazing fresh and modern take on a pizza restaurant. Forget everything you know about a traditional pizza place - Franco Manca creates a great atmosphere with a unique feel and most importantly amazing sour dough pizza! The menu is simple and clean, with creative sides and pizzas, but all carefully thought out to taste amazing. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, happy to help out which adds to the atmosphere! Only downside would be that they don't take reservations, so there might be a bit of a wait during busy times. Deffo worth a visit!

Amazing pizza. The most authentic I've ever had outside of Italy, and nothing like the American style pizzas we usually find in the UK. Simple menu with 6 pizzas, selection of wine, soft drinks, no desserts and a small choice of coffee. I love the simplicity of the menu. They also offer specials. We went on the Sunday, and they had only opened on the Thursday, so teething problems were expected. Staff were a bit all over the place. Was not much clarity on seating, whether it was table service, or if we need to order inside. A couple on the table next to us were seated and waiting for service when we arrived. I went inside to ask if I need to come in to order, but the gentleman said he'd come to the table. He came and took our order, then went back inside, and the other couple looked miffed, got up and left. Staff were all very nice though, and hopefully once they get into their rhythm, we look forward to going back.

Delicious pizza, traditional thin crust, friendly staff and awesome bubbly atmosphere. Very reasonable on price, they are about £8 for a decent size sourdough pizza, proper ingredients, hand made and fired fresh whilst you wait. Soft drinks are around £2, beer and cider around £3.50 for a 330ml bottle. I have to say some of the best, most authentic pizza I've found outside of Italy. I had the Meat Special that was Smoked buffalo mozzarella, fresh organic tomatoes, mixed peppers with garlic and capers and finally wild pig and fennel salami... It was glorious. Highly recommend it but they get busy so book if you can. Edit: Customer service is beyond top notch and amazingly friendly. This I think is going to be my one of my favourite pizza places anywhere.

Great service, excellent pizza (especially for the money!) and always a nice relaxed atmosphere. They saved Christmas for us, as we'd booked a table at a different pizza place which kept us waiting two hours for our food (which hadn't even arrived by the time we walked out). Eight of us walked into Franco Manca at 10.30pm (with no booking) and were eating and drinking within about 20 minutes of sitting down. Top work.

Flatbread starters can be a meal by themselves. Excellent organic lemonade; closest thing I've had to American lemonade while in Britain (note that in Britain "lemonade" often means something like Sprite). Pizza was an excellent thin crust, oven baked pizza. Sourdough was pleasantly chewy and fresh. Excellent selection of toppings.

Great pizzas and dessert. The restaurant is centrally located and is very well done up on the interiors. The food there is very good as well. The only issue we found was that the service was a tad bit too slow for our liking.

This place has the best pizza in Reading. The atmosphere on a Friday/Saturday night is pretty hectic. You can't reserve a table and the staff are often running around like headless chickens, however I suppose that is part of the charm. I can't comment on how things are during the week. Service can be better. The idea of automatic 10% Service charge, for clients to then specifically request its removal is disconcerting. Is the cost plus 10%? Is the cost a voluntary plus 10% Is the cost as advertised if you feel empowered enough to say remove the voluntary 10%.

We loved our pizzas - the stonebaked bases are really great. Burrata a revelation, divine! Didn't mind the short menu (extended with the specials) when ingredients are top notch. Can't speak for the vegan options. Was a bit disappointed to be sat in a dark and slightly smelly corner near the toilet. Three of us in our party. We took a bit of time to decide what to order so sent the waitress away and then had to call her to take the order. My pizza came without the extra cheese I ordered. Didn't bring enough glasses for water and wine. They offered to replace the pizza when I pointed absence of extra cheese out but I just asked not to be charged for it. Waitress came to clear plates twice before we'd finished. Were they rushing us or just couldn't see? Probably the latter, but still a bit distracting. Waitress was very smiley and polite even though she seemed very busy and I raised issues. So conclusion - definitely worth going if you like great pizza and care more about great ingredients and good cooking than infinite choice. Service requires work. Oh, and great value! At least £2-3 cheaper compared to competitors and better quality pizza.

The food was fantastic but the service extremely slow. I took 8 people to Franco Manca on Saturday 22nd June. We all got served at different times although the waitress checked our order at least twice. Mine had been forgotten altogether although it had been confirmed a couple of times. I ate my food alone after everyone else. I felt I had to eat quickly. The restaurant was fairly empty and the chefs did not appear very busy. The staff were polite and apologetic when they realised and discounted the pizza off the bill without telling me. It was a shame, good tasty food, nice staff but .......

If you haven't tasted this pizza then you must. Your foodie list will not be complete without visiting Franco Manca. I recommend shop till you drop and then enjoy Franco Manca. Great value from this chain pizza restaurant in the Oracle, serving mostly sourdough base pizzas in a simple style. Friendly staff and large terrace at the front looking out over the Rigger Kennet. No branded beers or ciders, but their "No Logo" brews are crisp and come in under £3.20 each.

Came in on a Saturday lunch and the staff were super efficient, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was incredible. Highly recommend the tomato & mozeralla pizza with a large glass of their rosè. Beautiful view from the seats outside by the riverside.

Based on a single visit. The pizza was tasty, lovely thin crust which I prefer. Service was a bit slow considering the restaurant wasn't that busy, but I think it was just bad timing that I arrived at shift change over.
