Fabulous little restaurant with so many attentive, friendly staff. Made it reservation late but received help over the phone with parking options nearby, and nothing was too much trouble. Meals were fresh, filling, and delicious. We weren't waiting around for ever to be served either. Heartily recommend Little Italy for any occasion. Thank you.

Fantastic meal! We were a walk in on Saturday and luckily managed to get a table. The food was perfect, really nicely presented and the service was lovely. We had starters, mains and desserts and every dish was delicious and so worth it! Highly recommend a meal here!

Delicious! Wonderful food, with a great deli selling fine Italian fayre. This restaurant serves very tasty food, and the menu isn't full of the usual lasagne/carbonara/bolognese options, but has a wide variety of different pasta and main course dishes. All 4 of us were very impressed with our meals. Cannelloni, a tagliatelle ragu, a pork dish and a prawn dish. Proper Italian cooking that you just want to keep eating all day (every day!).

This is one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to in England. The food was so good I almost cried. The staff were also very helpful with wine pairing suggestions. Will definitely be making another trip to York just to eat here again!

Great portion sized however the pasta is rather expensive compared the average pasta restaurant. I would recommend having less salt in the dish and black pepper provided at the table as the big one the waiter uses doesn’t work well. The langoustine wasn’t in season/ wasn’t sweet but mushy in texture.

Wow not your average Italian, fantastic food and great staff, the word authentic is banded about way too much but his genuinely is, oh and not a pizza in sight on the menu, tiny little place, in fact if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't as it is above the deli. What a find. Some of the nicest food I have had in a long time. We went at 6.30 on Monday evening to find that they were really busy and we were lucky to get a table. We soon found out why. Excellent service, excellent food and a special ambiance. We loved it so much we are thinking of going back in a couple of days, but we will book first.

Absolutely superb pasta. I had the Tagliatelle Dettori. It was incredible. It was rich but balanced. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was high quality. The waiter arrived with some extra grated parmesan and grated black pepper over the top just for that little final touch. The service was great too. The decor is very homely, warm, welcoming but still has that Italian air to it. I must say it was a little bit pricey but these days it's hard to find this kind of quality and love in the dishes. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

Lovely little restaurant. Took my grand daughter who only eats spag bol and although it's not on the menu they rustled one up without any fuss. The servers are friendly, helpful and patient. My GD enjoyed her food and exclaimed herself pleased and polished it all off, which she doesn't always do. I had the crab and lobster ravioli as a treat which was enjoyable, but for my taste, could have been a bit more seasoned. We would still go back, it's too nice a place not to.

I took my partner here for her birthday meal and I was amazed with the quality of the food. I went for the porcini 4 cheese ravioli and I loved every mouthfull. The desserts on offer were outstanding and it was nice to see the selection of cheeses and other produce for sale on entry to the establishment in their deli. Highly recomend , and ill be visiting again next time I visit York

Little Italy has been the highlight of our dinner experiences in the UK so far. Their food was unbelievable! It felt just like you were transported to Italy. The food was to die for. The mains were good although the portion sizes were quite large. The tagliatelle dettori was the standout main. The gnocchetti Sardi con melenzana was a little disappointing, not convinced the pasta for that dish is made on sight?

Have been here several times. Service is excellent and is professional, friendly and very efficient. The food is amazing and of such good quality, whoever the chef is they have my respect. We had fish for starter and main and it was cooked to perfection, and the bottle of house wine tasted excellent as well. Downstairs the deli is packed of cheeses, meats and yummy little Italian pastries that we had to take home with us. This is my favourite restaurant in York and would 100% recommend especially if you have a soft spot for Italian food.

Amazing family run authentic Italian restaurant. The menu is absolutely wonderful, it was difficult to chose as I loved the sound of everything! The staff are incredibly attentive and professional. There is a real buzzing atmosphere in the place too, we loved every minute. Good wine selection and home made desserts too. It is faultless! We will definitely book again should we travel the 5 hours from home to York again and will recommend to anyone visiting . Great little spot for some lunch, have been a couple of times and had pasta on both occasions, really nice light dishes that are fairly well priced, drink selection is a little small but this is only something that might be an issue if you are looking to go for dinner, however if you are looking to have an evening meal I would say there are certainly better Italians available in York. The restaurant itself is cosy and charming with plenty of natural light, it is on the smaller side and you will need to go up some fairly steep steps so just bare this in mind if you have any mobility issues. Would still highly recommend if you are staying in York. Rating out of 10 R - 9 A - 8

One of my favourite restaurants. I love this place. Small independent Italian restaurant with its own deli within York’s historic walls. Menu is a delight, full of old favourites and lovely specials. Fresh ingredients from the deli downstairs. Booking an absolute must. This place is deservedly popular. The limoncello tiramisu is heavenly ;) Wish I lived closer. Would eat here every week!

We had a lovely meal here, food and wine was excellent! But, more importantly, we had wonderful service also. My husband uses a wheelchair, and the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Delicious food and appropiately attentive service. We waited quite a long time for our mains - enough to notice, but then they suddenly arrived. And they were delicious. Starters seemed a little bit pricy compared to the mains, but on balance the total paid made our meal great value. Premium ingredients and vibrant atmosphere. We returned the next day to purchase food from the deli counter. There were many dishes on the menu we liked the sound of. We were spoilt for choice. Bravo. Highly recommend.

Great experience here, good for gluten free with most dishes capable of being gluten free with gluten free pasta. Great bustling atmosphere with friendly advice and service. Good value and delicious food. Would go again in a heartbeat. Deli and resturant by day and busy resturant by night, not huge but lovely and all the better for it. Well worth seeking out.

We loved the food and service but would like to experience the restaurant not having the time constraints of 1.5 hours, which we knew. When you are enjoying your meal and drink it became too rushed. Good for sightseeing tourists but not for locals who want longer to experience the feeling of being in Italy.

My family and I had a table booked Wednesday evening for my daughters birthday, just wow! This gorgeous family run restaurant and shop is like nowhere ive visited before. It's cosy cute setting is complemented by the warm buzzing atmosphere. All of the staff were like family, so friendly and honestly nothing was too much trouble. I'm not sure where to start with the meal! The most amazing food I've ever eaten! So so fresh. Between the diverse selection of wine and the delectable antipasti menu, if you closed your eyes you could easily imagine yourself to be in a quaint Italian village! It's tempting to visit new restaurants when returning to an area, but why would I when I've found perfection!

20 July - 2 September 2021: This is my first time in York or in the UK for that matter and as miserable as this country is I found a bright shining spot. Little Italy is Italian owned and operated and the food is amazing. I ate here no less than eight (8) times during my indentured stay in this country and I never had a bad meal. Although I do not drink I did see the wide variety of wines available not to mention a first rate cheese and deli counter. I strongly recommend this establishment when visiting York.

The lemon cannoli are just mwah 👌 I always pop in for them when I go in to York as they really are so good! It's a wonderful family business with everyone working there so helpful and friendly. Popped in when it was raining as the downstairs shop looks very enticing. Decided to go upstairs for a sit down meal. The service and atmosphere with surroundings is excellent. Forget the chain places, this is one of three or four wonderful independent Italian restaurants in the city. It's always full so booking is advised. Very extensive menu but they do it all very well. Steaks are fantastic but so is the pasta and pizzas. Seafood is great too. Little Italy is unique in York that it has a deli downstairs We usually buy some lovely cantucci to eat at home after a meal there.

Downstairs you've got a lovely Italian deli. It's quirky, friendly, and the products are top notch. It's also remarkably affordable: for a few pounds you can have a delicious sandwich with homemade foccacia, and Italian cheese and charcuterie. Upstairs, there's a sit-down restaurant. It's on the pricey side, but oozes charm and the seafood and pasta we had was absolutely top notch. We were also given an extra portion for free, as we were initially being students and trying to keep costs down by sharing - but they bought out two plates. Just lovely.

Not necessarily very cheap - but not too expensive either (getting on for £20 a main for the more expensive dishes), but well worth the price. I found Little Italy when I looked up Italian restaurants on Trip Advisor. It was rated as one of the best in York so I had high expectations and it exceeded those! It was busy when we arrived but the lady on 'reception' knew exactly what was going on. Service was polite, friendly, quick but not intrusive. There was a nice feel about the place. Even though it was busy, it wasn't too noisy; just a good atmosphere. The food was excellent. The pasta is made on the premises and a lot of the meat, fish etc is sourced locally. You can taste the difference - the depth of flavour and care that had gone into the dishes stood out. Between us we had the bruschetta, soup, tagliatelle and cannelloni along with a decent house red. Prices were reasonable but as I'm used to paying London prices that may not be the best indicator for York. I'd recommend this restaurant and will definitely eat there again. Enjoy!

Oh my gosh. My family and I were visiting UK, stopped at this little restaurant on a whim. It was absolutely amazing! Wide selection of pastries and Italian deli items. They have a wide array of cannoli (lemon, pistachio, chocolate) but, unfortunately, they only sell traditional cannoli to restaurants.

We had the apparently most popular share plater for starters that was a few cold meats a couple lumps of cheese and olives at £15, for main I had the pork belly that was ok but not crispy enough for my liking and at £20 odd quid I could of eaten it twice, and my wife had the chicken that was bland to say the least, after booking a table for 9pm we was told to wait downstairs untill a table was free, finally at 9.20 a lady took us to our table, I now wish she hadn't as we were a minute away from leaving and picking up a pizza instead, staff were very nice and friendly but overall experience says we will not be back, if it wasn't for the waiting staff this would be a 2 star.
