Very lovely traditional pub. Hosts/owners very nice. Perfect meals 2 x Gammon and Rump Steak. Wished I'd have tipped more as well deserved!!

Very pleasant late lunch break. 2 adults &2 children were very cheerfully greeted. We picked our table and the kids happily played with the pubs board games while the adults checked out the menu. Drinks served and food orders taken efficiently and politely. A few minutes later our food arrived , The kids attacked their fish fingers and Chicken dinosaurs with fervour. My partner had prawn salad and I chose scampi. Each plate was full to brimming. 4 clean plates later , meant 4 good meals and full tums. Happy to return . Thank you. Excellent parking and facilities, easy access for wheelchairs or buggies Food served from 12 noon till 9pm Children very welcome. Dog friendly. Bus stop on the doorstep.

I decided to pop in here for a bite and a pint. Nice pub, nice staff, beer okay. Decided to go for the homemade steak & ale pie, top of pie was rather anaemic but it was okay. As you can see it’s not a real pie, just a filling with a top 🤔

Lovely warm welcoming staff food and drink spot on ,outside beer garden off road parking would highly recommend a visit if staying local or pop in if just passing, the pepper and tomatoe soup was spot on.

We’ve stopped here three times as we make our way to Tenby. The weather had been atrocious through to here and as a small group of bikers we were wet through. The gentleman running the bar was outstanding and couldn’t do enough to make our stay very welcome. There is a great lunchtime menu and we were served wonderful fresh food on nice warm plates at reasonable prices. Our drinks were brought over to our tables, cutlery and condiments were all there without having to ask and the food didn’t take forever like some places. Great job guys!

Stopped on our way to Aberystwyth due to available parking facilities (knew it would be packed in Aberystwyth due to it being the bank holiday weekend). The food is to die for, both my Husband and myself thoroughly enjoyed our meal, arrived almost immediately and was piping hot. Portion size was huge. Staff were friendly and polite. I would happily return bar for one thing. Whilst I understand and respect that some people have and want to take their dogs with them, I myself am not one of them, neither is my other half. Whilst I, nor he would ever be cruel to a dog, we are not dog lovers. I am absolutely petrified of them after being bitten as a child and whilst I know not all dogs are like that it does nothing to allay my fear. After we were seated a couple with a dog were shown to the next table, the dog was jumping around whilst the owner chatted to his partner and at one point it jumped up onto another customer as they entered the restaurant and they were not best pleased (as demonstrated by the look on their face). The owner continued to chat to his partner, instead of controlling the dog. I spent the rest of the time worrying that it might jump on me as I left. Luckily it didn't but I think the owners of the pub should consider sitting customers attending with their pooches away from those who don't have them, I know it would have made my visit a much more pleasurable one. Having said this I will definitely return but will politely request that no dogs are seated next to me during my visit. Compliments to the chef.

Stopped here half way through a long drive. Tired, hungry and generally fed up. We were greeted with a very warm welcome for us and our dogs. Lovely food and the best burger I have ever had. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Lovely garden with swings, slide and space for children to run about after a long drive. Will definitely be calling again on our way home.

4 stars because Sunday lunch was very nice and very hot ( i hate tepid food ). We called in on route from north wales to west. Brilliant that our dog was allowed. Asked to eat outside as we noticed a marquee and having a long run could feed and water our dog. Ideal really but the table was really grubby. Used hand wipes to clean it down before the food came. Hope the black lion reads the review because it let them down.

A brilliant local pub. I've visited throughout the year. They have a lovely beer garden where you can take your dog and have a meal. They have amazing food that never fails to satisfy. They have some lovely wines and ale. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and it's a very warm and comfortable environment. A brilliant place to come for a quiet drink or a family meal.

Lovely place with decent food for all, even vegetarians and gluten free selections. Deserts are delicious here, the waiters are polite and welcome guests. The service is excellent for a pub meal and something to eat. Suitable for families here I enjoyed every minute of it and for all ages. Pet friendly also and kids can enjoy playing outdoors.

Came upon this little gem by chance as we were looking for a break in a long journey, and refuse to leave our very well-behaved dog in the car. This pub is dog friendly, a big plus. It also serves hot food throughout the day, which is quite delicious. The usual pub menu is supplemented by some very creative vegetarian options. The servings are generous, and the prices quite reasonable. And to top it off, the owner and the staff are welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Good food at reasonable prices. Only minor of issue is the parking. A lot a more mature bikers gather at the pub and don't always leave enough space to come and go from the car park. Nic enough to me be Thier large bikes but still have to find the owners

Really good food and a nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I chose cod and chips expecting a meal that would barely satisfy my hunger, how I was wrong. Don't know why Google have an old and negative review at the top of the list for the Black Lion as it might put people off a great experience. As we entered the bar we were greeted by very friendly locals, not something you expect in a pub. The ordered food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The only complaint we might have had was the size of the portions...they were enormous but reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our meal and provided a takeaway box at the end of our meal that allowed us to enjoy a repeat of our dining experience the following lunchtime. I can't recommend this place enough for anyone wanting a good and tasty meal at a good price

This is a great pub for a meal,plenty of choice even for vegetarians. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is good for families or if you are on your own for a very good meal. There is ample parking space and the pub is in an ideal location. I have eaten there many times and recommend it.

The meat was good, the gravy was lovely... That's all I can honestly say! The veg would have been better if it was hot! The potatoes have been nuked to within an inch if it's life and the broccoli was like rubber! "roast" potatoes were deep fried! I would have sent it back if I hadn't been starving!! Been recommended their food for some time now, finally sat down and had a gammon egg pineapple and chips, while my wife had cod and garlic potatoes. Gammon, was perfect, chips were perfect, Cod was stunning, garlic potatoes weren't very nice. Pudding eaten. I had the apple and mixed berry crumble with custard. Stunning. Real nice. Well worth it. Wife had the white chocolate and raspberry roulade and that was very light fluffy and tasty. :) With the mint ice cream it was great. Recommended.

Came here Sunday for a family roast, table booked for 12 noon, booking maxe 48 hours before. We had to wait 40minutes before our food came, while customers who came in after us were served their meals before we did, we had a 20month old toddler so didn't appreciate having to wait 40minutes for food. On a good note, food was lovely although potatoes could've been cooked a bit longer and a better portion of veg could've been served. There was a table spoon of carrots, peas, broccoli, new pots & cabbage to be shared between 4 adults and a toddler.

My friend and myself popped in by chance to get a meal at 7:30 on a sunday evening. What a delightful gem of a find this was despite an hr wait for the food. We ordered the cheese topped ale pie and chicken with barbequed pulled pork. The food was delicious and portions more than ample. Would we visit again? Indeed we would.

14:2:2016 Amazing saw bad reviews on Google but they were 3 years old tried anyway and so glad I did I had hunters chicken was at the table within 10 minutes everything was perfect melt in the mouth perfect compliments to the chef, the staff were very polite and drinks were perfect.We will be coming back and maybe bringing the family if they are good :)
