Well worth visiting for the date and mates offer. Two course meal for 2 and a bottle of wine for £40. The food was excellent and extremely good value. I would definitely recommend a visit on Tuesday evenings for this offer.

Moderate priced meals, great tasting food, brill atmosphere. Dog friendly in the bar area where you can also have your meal. I've been to the Crown & Anchor a number of times now and had a good meal here every time. I would highly recommend the fish pie as this has easily been the best meal I have had here. Staff are pleasant and provide good customer service.

For 2 years every time we've driven by here we think we must go, 2 years later we actually made it. Wish we'd been in before now and will definitely go back. The food was amazing, 4 clean plates and 4 very happy diners. Service was great and prices very reasonable.

Lovely local pub serving excellent quality food with service that's second to none. The prices are reasonable but it can get busy so try to book ahead if possible to guarantee a table (particularly around the holidays). Dogs are also welcome in the bar area (not the restaurant for obvious reasons).

I had a voucher for a meal for 2 so we gave it a try..... & now we keep going back. Food is fabulous, even the veg is perfect, never tasted chips like them. The beer garden is also really nice to sit & have a relax after eating. Staff are friendly & really efficient. It's the perfect place for a quiet evening out when you want great food but can't be bothered cooking yourself.

My friends and I enjoyed a meal here on Thursday 28th July,2022.We arrived at around 7.30 and ordered drinks from a super friendly barman who showed us to our table.The restaurant was busy but the waitress came and took our orders quickly.One of our group had food intolerances and the waitress offered a separate menu and said they'd happily cater towards any extra needs/requests.The staff were having to work around a brand new menu whilst also offering available dishes from the old menu.Unfortunately,my party ordered a few dishes from the old menu which quickly sold out so the waitresses had to return to our table several times for us to re-order.They were prompt in letting us know,very apologetic and helpful- offering alternatives and even giving us free desserts/coffee for inconveniencing us.The food (pork Tomahawk,tenderloin,burger and salmon) arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious.Everyone of us polished off our meals and,although not everyone's first choice,enjoyed the variety of fish and meat dishes received.During the meal the waitresses (Em,Becky and Liv)came over to ask if everything was ok for us.It obviously was because our plates were clean!After enjoying some scrumptious desserts (strawberry roularde,brownie and lemon tart)we took part in the thoroughly enjoyable quiz and paid our,very reasonable,bill. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Crown and Anchor for some lovely food but even more so for the fabulous staff who went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely meal and a lovely evening.They worked incredibly hard whilst demonstrating an enthusiasm and passion for what they do. WELL DONE the Crown and Anchor! Cracking food,cracking prices and cracking staff!

Sat outside as we had some very mucky pups after a walk. They were dog friendly and had water available for them. Food was exceptional - we ordered 1 pie and 3 burgers and every meal tasted fresh and homemade, the burger I had was delicious and absolutely massive! Definitely worth the price (was about £10 per meal I believe). 10/10

Been several times. The food service isn't amazingly fast which is a bit of a problem if you're driving and limited to one drink. But the pies are great, especially on the offers and the rest of the menu is fantastic too. It's a great pub food effort with excellent beers to match and I always enjoy going here.

Relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in a lovely modern rustic pub. Food quality is always excellent with a new twist on traditional pub grub. The staff are professional and friendly and service is good. You are best booking in advance for weekend dining as it does get busy, if you book online there is a small deposit to pay which is deducted from your bill. My only slight criticism of the menu/food is, the pies, the pies are delicious, but on quite a few occasions the pie pastry on the bottom has been rock hard, even after soaking it in gravey, so I would bare that in mind if you choose a pie. Enjoy!

This food is excellent. I would have given five stars but the service was very slow. The staff were very young and seemed to be struggling to keep up. We sat at the table half an hour before anyone came to our table, after we had eaten out meal we sat another half hour before the plates were cleared away,and then another twenty minutes before we got our desserts. The toilets are spotless. We were called darling all the time.

Had my grandma's wake here a few weeks ago. Absolutely brilliant place. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend it for larger events. We were in the other end of the pub to the restaurant area but it looked lovely and modern.

Clean and comfortable. There is a good the of beers. Restaurant menu has a good range and the food is well prepared with good combinations of flavour and imagination. Moving around the restaurant can be hindered by the restriction that does not allow you to walk in front of the hot servery (for safety), this means that you may have to squeeze past occupied tables. Not easy for those of reduced mobility. Also you can expect to be asked to vacate your table after eating if another booking follows yours.

Really, really nice food at a reasonable price, but let down by poor service. There are loads of staff running around like headless chickens with no organisation. You get left at your table for far too long, waiting to order and then order desserts, had to go find them to pay too. Everytime you get someone's attention they say they will be back but never do. But dont let this put you off as the food is amazing, just don't be in a rush to get off.

I've been here many times. The food is usually pretty good and they have a large selection of gin and cocktails. Good atmosphere. They sometimes have live music and events suck as gin tasting

A busy, trendy place. Full every time I have been but the manager recognised me each time althou I am not a frequent visitor The quiz is a great entertainment and the food is wonderful. There is a garden outside so it is good for kids so it manages to combine family and trendy in one delightful place.

I when to the Crown &Anchor over the easter Bank holiday, I could book a table at short notice for a Sunday evening which I was pleasantly surprised at, to start I have the duck liver pate and my friend have the salmon pate, mine was smooth and plant of flavor, the salmon had more texture to it and has great fresh flavour. For main I had the bonless ribs and my friend had the chickens and leak pie, however both of our first choices they had run out of which was disappointing , however it was late on in the day so didn't put me off too much, both our meal where tasty and was plenty. dessert I was a little disappointed with the choices on offer and what we both had I wasn't overly impressed but is didn't spoil our evening. The drinks were amazing we both had 2 cocktails each with our meal, I would recommend the Yorkshire bramble if you are a gin lover, and the zombie if you love rum, we also tried 2 of there large selection of gins and a popular cida. To to conclude I would definitely recommend the Crown and Anchor to a friend and will be returning soon, I thoroughly enjoyed want dining experience and amazing bar.

I have called in a few times for a drink and have to say how nice it is to have a good local pub with a great atmosphere. However, I have been told that the food "wasn't up to much". Not being one to believe all I’m told I went with a friend for a meal. The service was fine. I ordered a pie and my friend had Piri Piri chicken. My pie was dry, the chicken in it overcooked and lacking sauce and the chips tasted burnt. The mushy peas looked, well, like nothing of the sort. My friend picked through her meal and left most of it. On the whole we’re not ones for complaining so didn’t mention any thing to the waitress. Frankly I think the food is overpriced and pretentious without delivering. Real shame.

Extremely crowded on a Tuesday night recently. Reservations are recommended if you're coming in during peak meal times. Both the bar and restaurant sections were packed and as I had not made prior reservations, I had to wait approximately 20mins. Not exactly a problem because they had an excellent selection of single malts, even Japanese single malts like Hakushu and Hibiki( expect to pay for it though ! ). Service was warm and friendly but at full capacity, can be a little bit on the slower side. Could probably do with another one or two serving staff. Food was pretty good. Given the slightly higher menu prices here, I'd say it may not come out tops on value scale considering the portion sizes. Maybe a 3.5 stars overall

Booked a meal for 5 pm, was served it at 6 10 pm. After waiting over an hour for a 10 ounce Barnsley chop n chips I got cold big chips still with skins on and a small chop with 3 ounce of fat and 4 ounce of bone leaving just a mouth full of raw meat. With this, there was cold green beans swimming in water. I paid 4 pound 50 for a glass of house wine. I shall not be going back there.

Not as good as it once was. Visit may be tainted by a wrongly worded menu item. "Ribs", actually turned out to be pork belly. Not a huge fan of pork belly and the one I received was particularly fatty. Shame. I will go back as this is the first time I've had a problem here, but do feel the standards have dropped from a year or two ago.

As a group of 4 we had lunch today. My sister and I had a dish from the new menu, Belly pork served on a bed of pork cassoulet with green beans. What a fabulous meal! Our husbands had the chicken, leek and bacon pie and battered fish and chips. We finished with sticky toffee puds and a cheesecake . All the food was fabulous and the service was second to none. Booked a table for 12 people. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The staff are excellent at customer service The menu was sumptuous with food to please all tastes. Everyone in our group enjoyed the mouthwatering meal they had chosen along with the drinks ordered which were to a high standard. We ate here on a Wednesday night assuming it would be quieter - glad we booked as it was rammed. Service was very friendly from both the young man and the young lady who served us. We both enjoyed our meals (famous fish pie and steak and ale pie) and they were both excellent which was nice to see as the kitchen staff / serving staff were flat out. Great food, fabulous friendly service, lovely place to lunch with friends- What a fantastic find! Having gotten together with close friends and families, we were a group of 10 (5 adults, 5 kids, 2 babies). We'd been out trampolining with all the children, and realising the trampoline cafe was closed, we found ourselves with no where to go for lunch. We found the Crown and Anchor with a quick online search. They were immediately able to help us. When we arrived, a table was already set and waiting for us. There was a roaring fire in the hearth, and the whole place had a honely, welcoming feel. We were seated at a comfy, roomy table with plenty of seats and more than enough spacing for the lot of us + prams, too. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived- the kind of proffessional friendliness that puts you at ease. We ordered in leisurely time- we weren't rushed into anything and yet we werent left waiting, either. The waitress was more than happy to explain what came with what, tell us about daily specials, etc. Everything was smooth and relaxed. The drinks arrived promptly, again everything was great. When the food arrived, it was amazing! The portion sizes are generous but not to over the top- just right. I had the House Burger, which came with fries and pickle. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the brioch bun was done warm, soft and fresh. The childrens menu was again generously portioned and again, just right. The cost was very reasonable and probably less than we would have ended up paying out at the original cafe idea. We will definitely be back here for post-trampolining lunches- what a fabulous place for eating! Definitely recommend this gem of a pub for a nice relaxing lunch with friends.

9 of us wrnt for Mothers Day lunch. We were seated straight away. Thr food was delicious, garlic mushrooms and roast turkey ! The yorkshire puddings and the roast potatoes are to die for! Finished off with a Brownie Sundae! 10 out of 10 once again Crown and Anchor!

I was advised to have one of their pies. I wasn't disappointed. It was excellent, as was the service. I wasn't as keen on the real ale I sampled. Glad I didn't buy a pint without trying it. Otherwise, a great place.
