Reviews of D'Parys, Bedford
A. D.
Lovely cool place to stay and eat. We have stayed for 2 nights, breakfast and dinner was very delicious, very friendly staff.
Only 4 ⭐️ as you could hear the music and people talking when you try to sleep in your upstairs room, and also our bed mattress was a bit old and uncomfortable. Cleanliness is 5 ⭐️
E. L.
Beautiful, well renovated and stylish decor. Food was delicious - I had the steak. Very friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside and out. Dog friendly. We went out for the night before returning just before midnight, and Graham the night manager, was an absolute angel letting me in and making sure I had a full bottle of water for bed. Lovely comfy bedding and bath/shower/sink in my room. Would definitely stay here again.

Food is always to a good standard here. Their waiters and waitresses are always extremely welcoming and professional.
I forgot our waitress' name but she had a piercing and blonde/a few green strands in her hair. She was incredibly helpful, polite, accommodating and knowledgeable to questions about the menu/dietary requirements. Exactly the kind of service that makes you feel welcome. She was also quite funny, I think she's the best I've seen there in a long time.
The ONLY thing I would strongly advise against is their Eton mess. It doesn't come in a glass (call me old-fashioned or a purist, if you must) which I thought was weird and then they forgot the meringue (perhaps if it was served in a glass this wouldn't be forgotten 😂).
Once it came out again, yes it had meringue, but I am not exaggerating when I say it was about 80% cream, 2 strawberries cut into slices, tiny blended fractions of meringue and no berry coulis or anything to marry it together. The two of us that ordered it didn't eat it all because it was like eating a bowl full of cream after the few slices of strawberry were gone.
Other than that, I do come here every time I visit Bedford and will continue to do so because it's easy for small or big groups and the food doesn't miss (apart from the Eton mess).

Food was very tasty and the decor was really cool... The service was efficient. Sometimes a little too efficient considering it wasn't busy....great choice on menu. Good place for a change....

A real luxury but very relaxed feel to this boutique hotel. Just one night stay but a fantastic meal in the restaurant. All the staff were attentive and accommodating. Would highly recommend in the Bedford area
A. J.
Decent food, but service totally overstretched on a midweek evening. 2 hour wait for the main isn't really good enough, but who is responsible, the staff or management? I won't rush back, sadly, as the venue itself is really well located and well designed.
G. G.
Very enjoyable lunch, food was well presented and tasty, very nice and helpful staff, nice looking location.
Only minor down was the Sweet Potato Fries were burnt.
Will return.

I lived here for 8 weeks. I had almost every item on the menu plus off menu items, yeah they can make that. Seriously solid food, exceptional bar man, all around amazing staff. Need a tip for sight seeing in London? Ask. Need to learn about gin or scotch? Bam. Want something different for breakfast(sorry English folks I got tired of eating a standard breakfast after a while)? Covered. While I loved the staff, I think what really sets this place apart is the atmosphere they create and the other customers they draw in. I met lots of people in for a night out or a weekend getaway. Ones that stick out were a couple in town to do falconry and another from south of London who turned me onto Glenmorangie ginger beer with a lemon. Probably not the largest selection on tap, but probably the cleanest taps and best quality pulls in town.
I miss you guys. D’Parys is my home away from home.
P. P.
Service was good. Had a beef burger, which I thought was over done. The fries had bits of potatoes which when cooking at home normally get discarded. Tiny bowl of coleslaw.
However enjoyed the pud.
P. P.
We were very impressed with D'Parys, a nice relaxed feeling with a good selection of drinks. We had food as part of a group which was well presented and was a great selection which was delicious. Service and staff was really good too, very friendly.

Beautiful venue, but food over priced for what it is. The restaurant itself is absolutely lovely, really stylish with great ambience. But on both occasions that I've had food it's been underwhelming. The toilets also let the pub down. They need redecorating as the sealant is black around the sinks and the paint is peeling. I'd come back for drinks, but wouldn't eat here again.

My partner and I have dined twice at d'Parys in the past year, and we've been cared for brilliantly both times. I recognized a few staff members from Brewpoint (less than a mile away) and had a good ol' banter with them in between taking our order. They provided my partner with a gluten free menu without any issues, and even went to tell the head chef especially so that he could prepare accordingly. Good communication is the making of a great restaurant, and they appear to have it down-pat.
From my two visits, I can heartily recommend the red Thai curry with chicken, the baked Camembert (we had ours with GF bread), the pan-seared sea bream fillets, the Halloumi fries and the artisan bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. My partner says she really loved the Hoisin pork belly bites, which are suitably filling to have as a starter.
The ONLY thing that prevented me from awarding a 5-star review this time is that on both nights, unfortunately, they were out of prawns, so I STILL haven't been able to sample the garlic butter and king prawn starter. I've been unlucky in that regard with Miller and Carter as well, seems like everyone gets the king prawns before I do...
Obviously these things happen and items frequently run out or get 86'd in restaurants every night, but I'm holding out hope that next time we book a table that they would have ordered surplus of king prawns!
B. M.
Edit: just had a great response from d'Parys on this review that shows how amazing the staff are here. Thanks for making the effort.
The staff we're incredible and really made this visit. The food was acceptable. Looked great, but just didn't make me smile. Every dish missed that something. I'd be happy making this at home, just not being served it.
S. C.
Issy and Alex were superb hosts who went above and beyond usual hospitality.
I stayed in the Bombadier room with a divine rolltop bath, the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in and cleanliness impeccable.
Breakfast was high end as was the service, I highly recommend D'Parys to anyone visiting Bedford.
H. w.
The food was really nice.
Sadly, the service was lacking yesterday evening due to a private function and the number of diners. Diners were going to the bar to purchase drinks to cut delays in waiting for drink orders to be served at their tables. In terms of front of house there were two staff behind the bar, a man collecting glasses and one young and inexperienced waitress working extremely hard virtually single handed - taking the brunt of complaints from dissatisfied diners.
O. A.
We had a private dinner at this quaint location and it was beautiful!
The table setting and decor are lovely with a taste of rustic and antique creativity.
The food (3 course meal) was not great but just good enough for the occasion.
The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly.
This place is ideal for families, groups, individuals etc.
Street parking, dinner was served on time, music only allowed till 11pm which is understandable...toilet facilities available.
Also serves breakfast and the bar area is quite spacious.
In all I would recommend for your cosy celebrations and parties 👍🤗
J. D.
Visited for breakfast and really enjoyed my smashed avocado on toast. Not the largest vegan menu but nice food.
A. U.
Lovely and cosy. Had logs burning in the fire place and that made it the best. Great tasting dinner! And they now have an amazing tiramisu on the dessert menu. Starts and mains, not even gonna talk about them as those were delicious. Seasonal as well.
P. G.
Great food, lovely character rooms but mostly just exceptional staff
A. H.
The room I stayed in was delightful as were the people working there, a beautiful, interesting hotel with character. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars was due to the very poorly thought out plant based cooked breakfast. (Substituting anything non-vegan for a bowl of avacado and not having any vegan spread options just felt lazy) but, once again, all the people working there couldn't have been friendlier. I would stay again in a heartbeat (and find somewhere else for breakfast).
S. S.
The fish and mash potato were taste good. A bit expensive. Just one kind advice - will be great to change serving. It's looks like somebody else eats this meal before me ha ha
N. D.
This hotel has so much potential. A beautiful building and lovely decor. But there are things that need to be better. The first is the smell of the open fire, it was so strong that my hair smelt like I'd been at a bonfire and that wasn't so great on a night out! Maybe time for the chimney to be swept? Next is the room, we stayed in Room 3, which was a stunner with a freestanding bath. Although there was only one set of toiletries for us to share and no bubble bath which is such a shame! There was crack on the loo seat which pinched everytime, a fault which could have been easily sorted. Also no working lamp on the dressing table so doing hair and make up was extremely difficult because the room was so dark. The bed linen was lovely as were the towels. Just a word of warning, there is no privacy at all in this room with the exception of the toilet, even the sink was in the room. This was fine for us but might not be for some. So take some bubble bath and dry shampoo for the fire smell and you'll be on your way to a near perfect stay.
J. C.
Can be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes all great, others times it takes ages to take your order or there is something wrong with one meal. Depends on the staff and how good the manager is as to which level of service you get
C. D.
Great food but slow service. Love the décor.
Rooms are great, comfortable bed and lovely bath.
M. T.
Fabulous room. Great restaurant, lovely atmosphere, food delicious. Even the playlist during dinner was perfect. Can't wait to return.
D. B.
Nice place good beer but it needs more bar staff waiting 25 minutes to get a drink only 2 bar staff and then sometimes 1 possibly sort staff
J. B.
Amazing gucchi hotel! Decor is perfect for our taste, felt so relaxed and will deffinately be coming back and would reccomend. All the staff were well spoken and polite, food and service was at the highest quality!. In one word.. wow!
C.
A very unique hotel with beautiful and creatively decorated rooms and comfortable beds. Also the food is delicious!
G. G.
Food was lovely and good portions, good location, but service a bit slow and some areas a bit tired
S. M.
Friendly helpful staff, breakfast was brilliant.... Quirky rooms, not sure about the opaque glass toilet 😊
W. S.
We booked the restaurant (library room) for mum's funeral reception (The Awake)
The food was awesome and exceeded guests expectation. The staff were very polite and friendly.. They managed to make sure that everything was topped up from coffee to food while staying out of guests ways. One of the guests said, "the staff are like invisible ninjas"
The atmosphare was exceptional and George made sure that we have a stress free day knowing the difficult time that family is going through.
I would recommend this place for any functions that you may have.. From birthdays to business meetings to funeral receptions.
D. B.
Really nice menu. Lovely place
O. C.
Excellent meal. Staff were attentive and polite. The outdoor seating area is beautiful. Food is of a very high standard and the portion sizes are big. Will definitely be returning.

This is a lovely boutique hotel, we got given a buyagift voucher through work and picked this place which was offering dinner bed & breakfast. We upgraded our room to their signature suite which was lovely. The room had two roll top baths in the room and a four poster bed. Very spacious and well furnished. Tea & coffee making facilities available in the room and your normal hotel toiletries were also supplied.
Dinner was great with a nice atmosphere in the dining room without being too busy or loud, The food was good and the helping sizes were big but very flavourful. We both had their eggs Benedict in the morning which is something I order a lot when out but this one was one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time (definitely worth a mention).
Now down to the staff, they were extremely friendly and can I say a smile goes a very long way! Being greeted first thing in the morning when you enter the dining area with a smile and a warm welcome was fantastic. Everyone was so friendly from the chap that checked us in and showed us our room to the dining staff both at dinner and at breakfast.
My only small complaint would be their car park, they have an area round the back of the hotel that can take approximately eighteen cars and they have signage to saying that it’s for people staying in the hotel only but we arrived about thirty minutes before check-in opened and their was only two spaces available. The staff don’t take any car details of guests or give them anything to display in their car windows so people just ignore the signs and park there when going for a meal or even visiting the town which is close by. Over the course of the day/night I watched people walk in from the street and pick up their cars, just walking in the side door and away without touching the hotel. There is however paid on street parking available at the front of the hotel but I believe it’s quite expensive.
Overall We loved our night away and have decided this is going to be a regular get away for us. Thank you.
S. W.
We had a great experience at the D'Parys. Great room, open plan and real bath! Nespresso coffee machine just finished off. Had a great evening meal, inclusive cooked breakfast which was just right before meeting friends later in the day, having their fantastic value and best Sunday roast in Bedfordshire. Definitely be back soon.
D.
Family meal , very enjoyable with delicious flavours and relaxing setting. We plan to eat here again soon .
P. M.
Table was made up but dirty so had to get it cleaned. Nice burger and pint. Looks and atmosphere great.
T. W.
Fantastic hotel in a lovely location, will definitely be back!A big thankyou to Ron,Luke and all the staff for making our weekend one to remember.
J. Z.
Not great cheese on toast bit sparing with the cheese and sent the creme brulé back not set and curdled with soft shortbread
M. M.
Place was just fine. Too expensive for what is mostly averagely executed food. But nice environment and pleasant staff.
T. F.
We stayed for one night to escape teenagers. It was a wonderful experience. Bedrooms (and bed) very spacious and comfortable with fun decor. Food delicious and very promptly served, all staff friendly and attentive. Good wine list and lovely cocktails made by experienced bar staff. Even the music was pitched just right: everything from Joni Mitchell to E.L.O. We will (need to) come again!
j. h.
The Bedrooms, entire decor and vibe are absolutely exceptional (5*). Food needs to catch up (3*)
R. H.
A lovely place with friendly service. I went for Sunday breakfast with friends and the food was well cooked and presented. We were sat in a booth which was comfortable and gave a feeling of privacy. I would definitely go back.
S. M.
Clear signage to indicate there is parking would be helpful, as I paid to park on the street, only to realise once in the restaurant there is parking at the rear
T. J.
Friendly family run guest house. Very clean and at a reasonable price. The location is perfect for Bedford town.
There is some onsite parking.
A place I will be very happy to return to.
A. L.
First time went for a roast dinner which was yummy, 2nd time we went mid week and had off the normal menu vegetarian burger and my partner had flat iron steak both nice but not as enjoyable as Sunday lunch, lady serving had a great sense of humour and friendly, pub was very busy and friendly atmosphere park around the back of the pub, overall good food will return
A. P.
Sunday lunch was ok but the service was a bit chaotic. Staff were very friendly, but everything took a long time.
M. W.
I worked for an international software company and have traveled the world staying in hotels. Occasionally I stay in a small but unique hotel that out shines the larger hotels
This place is amasing and I will return one day soon. Food is great so are the rooms but it’s the staff that set this place alight So nice and happy to help. Thank you D’parys You deserve more than 5 stars.
K. W.
Im fairly regular at this restaurant for all occasions. Great location and the food is always good yet slightly on the higher price range but certainly worth it! Beautiful restaurant and the hotel rooms are awsome.
N. D.
At the desk, bar and restaurant all the staff were friendly, helpful and considerate.
It has a really pleasant atmosphere, with plenty of good food and beverages. There were outdoor areas under cover plus seating outside with a pretty garden. A comfortable, bright, clean and well appointed room.. definitely recommend it.
S. R.
Nice place. Quiet road. Good food.
C. R.
Beautiful place to stay with the rooms packed full of character. All the staff I met from when I arrived were just amazing and helpful. I would've given 5 stars but the shower light was temperamental and wouldn't turn on when I went in to have a shower. I'm definitely going to book more stays there again. I'd like to stay in every room as I'm fascinated by their different room styles. Also the food was just scrumptious, had lunch and a cocktail and it was just beautiful. The parking at the back is also a great plus. With all the restrictions in the country at the moment, D'Parys is doing a great job making sure everyone is safe whilst staying with them. Thank you for your hospitality, see you again soon.
L. C.
The name and venue suggest a better experience. But there's room for improvement with food (breakfast is good) bar prices and and decor. These add up to a missed opportunity.
G. J.
Leisurely dinner with family. Food good.
M. O.
Popped in for a quiet lint Saturday Autumn afternoon, and it was lovely just to sit and enjoy the space. I forgotten how well designed the D'Parys was. Friendly, efficient staff, great decor, blending modern contemporary within the original architecture. Will be returning more often...
c.
As hosts, they were very friendly and welcoming. The room was ok, a fair size, clean and in order. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant were on the slightly quirky side. The food, although a little pricy, was very good, service was quick and our waitress friendly. The fish and chips (£14!) seemed very popular the night we ate. I opted for the salmon steak and my girlfriend had the chicken and ham pie, both 1st class served with fresh vegetables and a good sized portion, not too much. For dessert we had the eton mess and passion fruit tart and I'm keen to try the Creme Brulee when I visit again. £80 for 2 courses, a few drinks and a tip seemed a fair price to pay. Definitely an upgrade on a typical gastropub. An excellent cooked breakfast menu is included in the stay as well as a buffet of cereals, toast, fruit, croissants, coffee, tea and juices.
We had a few nightcaps on the first night, their Espresso Martini is very nice, better than the Mojito I had with the main meal on the second night. My Girlfriend loved all the cocktails she tried and the bar staff seem like they're willing to make them to your preference.
Difficult for me to not recommend but overall not my first choice of a place to stay. A few of the other rooms on the website looked a bit more spacious so should I book another visit I'd definitely want to try an alternative.
Just around the corner you can get a fully equipped 2 bedroom appartment that sleeps 4 for less, that's within walking distance.
My preference would be to stay there and treat yourself to a few drinks and dinner at D'parys.
M. R.
Came for my grandfather's wake, and stayed overnight. Staff were friendly, and made several exceptions for us (that I won't list here in case they aren't always possible for others).
The rooms are full of character, and feel very elegant. My bed was great, although others in the party said their's were squeaky. The fans in the wardrobe were very welcome in this heat. The entire establishment is much larger than it feels.
It wasn't me who paid but I'm informed there's not much difference in cost between this and a Premier Inn, and the breakfast was leagues ahead here.
I don't often come to Bedford these days but if I did, I'd definitely consider D'Parys again.
T. E.
Great place!
Marian is the best bartender ever!
J. D.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere, good food and great staff.
L. B.
I usually really enjoy a meal at D'Parys but not the last time I ate there two weeks ago! A group of four of us were served by a waitress who had huge, pointed, gelled fingers nails, which we all noticed. We were under the impression that this wasn't allowed as far as hygiene standards are concerned? Either way, we felt it wasn't really fitting in a food establishment. One of our party ordered an Eton mess as her sweet. This arrived looking glorious but, strangely, there weren't any strawberries (or raspberries) in sight. She mentioned this to the waitress who just shrugged and walked off! Surely meringue and cream is just that, not an Eton mess? I won't be put off by this but I'm hoping things will be more usual next time I go.
A. F.
Lovely boutique hotel with great food in the restaurant.
P. S.
Overall my stay was most pleasant. My room was quirky but very nice, the down sides were that the light in the toilet didn't work, the drip from the tap onto the bath was very annoying and there were no bedside tables. Other than that the room was lovely.
I must say the breakfast was very nice, could of done with an extra mushroom and hash brown but absolutely lovely all the same, and it was served to me a lovely young lady who was very pleasant and polite.
Actually all of the staff I came in contact with from the chamber maids to the front of house team were very courteous, helpful and pleasant.
I would definitely recommend this hotel..
t. p.
Nice place to have a good meal in nice surroundings check out the doors on the ceiling. Team very helpful. If reserving a table on line make sure you are aware there is a choice of table inside and outside.
P. C.
Food was good and the staff team were very helpful.
k. p.
Food was lovely and staff friendly. Following social distancing perfectly, well done.
G. H.
Fabulous meal again, great atmosphere, helpful friendly staff.
Not a huge menu but everything so fresh and tasty
We had:-
Tempura asparagus (gorgeous), duck bonbons, and a Med Meze starters. All delicious.
Chicken pie, Thai curry, gnocchi and fish & chips mains, all delicious.
Creme brûlée and an out of this world passionfruit tart with raspberry sorbet and chocolate ganache.
How to improve the experience? We were on the veranda, so some outdoor lighting would make a huge difference. Highly recommend this place.
j. n.
Quite rustic but that just adds to the charm. Decent food too!
E. A.
We always have a great time at De Parys! Today at lunch the aged beef cheese burgers and halloumi cheese fries were on point! ❤️ Service is always great, and we love that we can bring our dog. 😊
R. G.
Nice place with friendly staff. Food was good had duck bon bons and belly pork didn't get much chimchirri though. Roast potatoes where not very crispy and cauliflower cheese was not very nice the sauce was like American liquid processed cheese sauce!!!!
Creme brulee was very nice.
N. M.
Drinks were nice, ordered mussels which came quick and were decent. Took however 40m for our 2 fish and chips to come out after mussels
T. P.
Absolutely lovely. Staff are welcoming, garden was pleasant to sit in. Rooms were clean and the breakfast superb. Would 100 % recommend this hotel and and also only 10 minute walk to town.
M. D.
Delicious food and good service, like the atmosphere too..
K. H.
Lovely little place, stayed for 2 nights in the signature room which was lovely and we got great views of the sunrise in the morning. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful and the food was excellent.
W. B.
Beautiful place to have a light breakfast
M. M.
Beautiful interior, lovely atmosphere, delicious food and an attentive service. I'm definitely looking forward to the next visit.
The pork belly was to die for!
Mind you, the portions are "elegant", so don't expect to get stuffed. It's a fine dining experience.
My only suggestion: since it's winter, it would be nice to have my coat taken off me and perhaps a calculator for waiting staff would be a good idea - we were splitting the bill (believe it or not, it was a date) and the waitress had no ability, nor intention to work out the money. She was nice enough though so all together it was a lovely evening.
T. A. -. F. L.
Came here a few times. Beautiful location, outdoor seating area is nice during summer. Quality of food are varied. Sometimes great, sometimes a bit let down. Probably depends on the chef on the day? But overall, it's a nice place and quite enjoyable
T. C.
Love this place! The right vibe, friendly staff, brilliant food, cozy atmosphere, unique and comfy rooms.
W. P.
We met as a large (socially distanced) group and had to pre-order our mains. When we arrived, no one asked if we wanted starters and one of our group didn't get their dessert and some drinks missing. The food wasn't as good as it used to be....I had the brisket pie, which was dry and pretty small, although it was jam packed with meat. Dessert was lovely! Need to up the game a little bit to get back to previous standards.
J. G.
Wonderful hotel! Friendly staff that welcomed me late at night with a cold beer. Beautiful rooms and common area. Breakfast was superb and nicely presented. Do note that I'm rating it five stars even though the shower handle was broken and the room was missing air conditioning and was hot like hell.
D. C.
Amazing pub and Restaurant, and I presume it's an amazing hotel as well. The staff are great and very friendly, attentive with all your needs. The decor inside and out is very welcoming, clean and sets a nice atmosphere. A great selection of foods and drinks at all points throughout the day. I Love just going in for a drink sitting in the bar area and enjoying the peace. The outside space seems great as well for those summer evenings. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area or planning to visit Bedford.

Always been well catered for on each visit here. We popped in for dinner and ended up ordering a room, as our planned hotel stop-over in Liverpool was cancelled due to Covid! Dinner was lovely as was breakfast. We were offered Room 8 at a decent price, which turned out to be a great room here, you won't be disappointed as a couple in this room. The only downside was lunch the next day before we left. The noodle dish sounded lovely but was tasteless and seemed to consist of large noodles in an Uncle Bens sauce- truely terrible! The waiter also was very good, didn't care to listen and ended up being very dismissive with another customer which resulted in an unpleasant argument...🤨

Stopped here for a cup of tea. Service was good and the decor was impressive. Was nice to spend an hour watching the wired go by.
C. H.
Brilliant place lovely food absolutely divine I didn't want to stop eating! We stayed there too and the room was lovely. We stayed in the Mongoose room and it was beautiful with a rolltop bath, shower and a very comfortable bed. Ask for this room if you can. All the staff were brilliant and made us feel very welcome.
l. g.
Brilliant place with great service and a nice pint
D. L. C.
Well thought out dishes, nicely presented. Good selection of drinks. Friendly and accommodating staff
B.
Nicely laid out and designed bar area, and Pub in general.
The day we attended was very quiet (and cold outside) yet we, and a couple of other patrons i noticed, had an unnecessary wait to be served (nobody behind the bar) despite there being (seemingly) enough staff.
The barman was friendly and polite and the beer was cold however, so really; what more do you need?..
Log fire burning (if my substantial nose served me correctly) crackling hickory wood was a delightful touch.
Will certainly return (and edit this review accordingly) in future.

We were all pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The service was great, the kids even were given a board game to play whilst us adults enjoyed our meal in peace which is a rarity. Will definitely be back.
G. G.
Had a very good meal from the current festive menu - salmon pate, duck (beautifully cooked) and chocolate bread and butter pudding.
M. H.
Service was a bit slow. Food was delicious but not value for your money.
P. R.
A group of four of us had a most enjoyable experience last night. We each ordered a different meal. The service was cheerfull and attentive. We did not have to wait too long. The food was excellent, though my wife's steak was rare rather than medium rare. It was still tasty and tender. I had the belly pork was remarkable as was the potato and vegetables. The others had chicken and fish which were also enjoyed. Portions were fair sized, I could have eaten more potato and veg.
The overall atmosphere was pleasant and not too crowded. We sat down in the comfortable bar surroundings for drinks after. Pricewise, I would say value for money.

Really find d'Parys to be hit or miss. Had a Sunday roast here recently and they were relatively busy. Service was great at the start of the meal, but then died a death and it took ages to get anything at the table with the bill taking over 5 minutes after asking for it twice.
Food was tasty, but there wasn't that much of it and for what you do get it isn't that reasonable. That's probably more than likely due to the high price of their drinks compared to the rest of Bedford.
The interior is very nice, especially with the fires burning on a cold day and the atmosphere is great. Just a shame everything else didn't match up yet.
G. T.
Absolutely enjoyable experience. We went with a large portion of our family for one of grand daughter's 5 birthday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere. The staff were very accommodating; we will definitely be going back, perhaps just the two of us next time.
p. c.
Aside from the loud and obnoxious family, the food, service and staff were fantastic.
V. l.
Great place for a breakfast socially distanced bite to eat. Well cooked, but be aware when you order the full English small, you also get it served on a small plate ... It makes an adult person's serving look so wrong ! Something like a piece of rocket on the plate would certainly filled the plate out a little 😐
G. H.
Spent a great night here. Loved our room, complete with baths! The restaurant was just perfect for us, a good wine list (lots by the glass) and a great pint of beer! The staff are very sweet.
V. R.
One of the best restaurants in Bedford!! Have visited many times since the renovation a few years ago, and the food and service have always been excellent. The set lunch menu has a superb selection, and if you're just popping by the ice cream counter at the front has a great variety of flavours! Highly recommended
N. L.
The place is too big and lacks in character for my taste. I am sure it is practical in this time of social distancing but it doesn't help the atmosphere. Also, I paid nearly £15 for a starter, baked camembert with chutney and sincerely, it was altogether forgettable. Maybe, I will try the terrace next time, if the September weather permits so that I will have a complete experience.
k. a.
D'parys is a wonderful place for a drink or a meal. The atmosphere is cozy chic. Great fireplace in the front room to sit by and sip a tipple. Great wine list and gin list. Not a place I would go to for specialist cocktails. But wine and gin and tonics, it is ace. The Sunday roasts are amazing with a gluten free option. Fantastic place for date night or a special family meal.
W.
Wonderful hotel, pleasant staff, excellent food. I love the ceiling in the restaurant!!
C. B.
Food was good, salad for the wife was well prepared and staff where happy to change ingredients to suit. The half roast chicken was also well prepared but the bread sauce was so so. Service was okay however for a two course meal we were there for two hours and that was when it was quiet! The disabled toilet was a let down and not in keeping with the decor in the restaurant.
H. S.
After a tricky pre booking start the food was good and the service was good which in the past has let the place down. The new extended bar/lounge area is lovely too. Children's food was also great quality not just dozen easiness
S. B.
Nice place. Reasonable service, reasonable range of drinks, nice starters. Steak could be a little better, and a couple of people's steaks weren't cooked quite right. E.g. medium-rare steaks that weren't pink.
A. S.
We have been here several times over the years and have to say that D'Parys Hotel is now the best it's ever been. Visited recently with family, great food and service. Beautiful surroundings, we had my mother's wake here in 2016 and it was excellent as we also had use of the outside area.
Highly recommend *****A+
C. G.
Lovely comfy room, slept like a baby. Dinner in the restaurant was really good with the lamb cooked just as I requested. Staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.
R. L.
Stayed here a couple of years ago. Beautiful rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Didn't have any main meals there. Would recommend.
M. L.
What a lovely find. Our room was fab (especially for the price). Highly recommend. Staff very professional, helpful and friendly.
H. W.
Really good, very welcome... Short on GF but will definitely go back
M. T.
Expensive, they obviously tried to give it character but tried a bit too hard. The ceiling decour in the dining area is a joke and no doubt adds £1 to every dish of food. In an attempt to give the place character lots of random old furniture is available, some chairs are not very comfortable.
The food is excellent it's a pity you have to sit so uncomfortably while eating. I'd go if asked but not out of choice.
J. C.
Lovely breakfast at d'parys . We sat near the bar right by the open fire, which was much appreciated in a cold morning! Ordered two full English and pancakes. Produce was excellent, thick cut bacon, exceptional black pudding and perfect poached eggs. Would heartily recommend to anyone, staff are perfect, location is welcoming and food top notch!
T. W.
Slightly off the beaten track. Cool decor, nice food. Decent food and good selection of drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful, but actually could do with some better bar training. Not their fault, attitude correct, possibly just experience levels?
K. M.
I'm in love in this hotel. Rooms are clean and so good designed. You really feel like in Paris. Food was also really good. I would go back to Bedford just to stay in this hotel. So cosy!
J. M.
The service was a bit slow and we were a bit disappointed that the meat platter we ordered didn't arrived as described on the menu. There was no potted beef and the sliced rare beef wasn't rare at all, in fact it was a bit over cooked if anything. Also the tomato chutney was a bit bland. When we asked the waitress about the potted beef she brought a message from the kitchen to say they'd run out but we'd been given extra beef instead. In fairness there was loads of beef but it would have been nice if we'd been told that in advance so we had the opportunity to change our order.
Still think it's a lovely place and would still go back but we were just a bit disappointed on this visit
P. B.
Room well decorated and nice bath but quite pricey for what you get. Some staff were great, one was really unhelpful however. Food overpriced and not worth the money (2 courses for 2 @ £80). Room also very warm.
Wouldn't rush back.
S. B.
One of the best espresso martini's I have ever had, both members of staff were really friendly and helpful
D. P.
Service was good, food was delicious, prices a little high. Overall experience very nice .
E.
We have family in bedofrd and will always stay here when we visit because its the best place to stay in Bedford. The food is exceptionally good and we love the vibes with the rustic interior decor. Can't wait to come back for Christmas!
E. M.
Went here on a sunny Friday afternoon. The outside space is really pleasant to spend time in. The beer selection isn't huge (If you like ale) and isn't cheap but the surroundings make up for it. I have eaten here before and the food and service were both pretty good
r. p.
Nice environment, good service. Parking round the back is pretty tight, otherwise you can park on the road but its £2 for 2 hrs. Just long enough to need to top up if having a big family meal!
A. C.
This place is a perfect escape for a lovely drink, be it by the fire in winter or in the beer garden outside. The food is amazing, the perfect place combining a local pub with a great restaurant.
The staff are all friendly and welcoming, well worth a visit!
A. N. B.
Lovely setting, the lamb roasts enjoyed by my husband and son were outstanding, the seafood pasta dish I ordered was amazing as the calamari, mussels and prawns were plentiful and tender. Highly recommend!
J. S.
Lovely setting and good, friendly service but the food is average. Need more veggie options on the menu as well.
C. G.
Beautiful hotel with lovely staff
m. a.
Beautiful, old building. Good restaurant and lovely rooms. Helpful staff.
P. H.
Fantastic venue and the food, but I was a bit disappointed with my main course. I ordered the Monk Tail with a chick pea & tomato sauce with a crab cake. The monk tail was a very small portion, which I felt cheated by. Afterwards I still felt hungry. Wish I stuck with my first choice of fillet steak. My wife had that and she was absolutely happy with that choice. Dessert was good, I choose sticky toffee pudding. No complaints here. One other problem is the fire exit. With several people going back and forth through the door a cold breeze kept on coming through and for those seated next to this door it was not pleasurable.
G. L.
Interior design unfortunately doesn't meet the food expectations. We had a super food salad and king prawns linguine. The so-called super food salad was basically a kale salad sprinkled with some quinoa and smothered in balsamic glaze .Very disappointing. Nothing special with the pasta as well. Overall, a very pleasant environment to enjoy a couple of drinks but not lunch/dinner..
B. B.
I only went in on a Sunday morning for coffee. Nice garden to sit in , and inside is beautifully designed and cosy . Will definitely come back for dinner
P. C.
Unbelievable food and service had a great evening
J. O.
Great burger! Took a while to come, will defo return.
E. H.
Lovely decoration and the food is delicious. It's a wonderful place to have a quiet dinner. Food is cooked to perfection, not in your face but so tasty.
M. R.
Good food at decent prices
B. D.
Excellent meals, 3 generations of our family came for dinner and very much enjoyed it. We had the Wednesday burger deal, with a baked camembert to start. All lovely! Only grumble is that you don't have the potato skins on the menu anymore!
S. W.
Really nice décor and a lovely place to spend an evening in. Waiting times for an order can be long, I think having more staff would help. But id still recommend it for a drink or two
K. H.
I'm updating my review from a couple of years ago because a recent visit has shown me that D'Parys now deserves recognition for lovely, friendly service, excellent coffee and a super variety of vegan food options. It feels a cosy, safe-feeling sanctuary during these covid-y times. I will be visiting again soon.
B. M.
Amazing food in a stunning setting. The panckes on the breakfast menu are amazing.
A. M.
We had Sunday lunch , 3 of us including my elderly mother. Service was excellent with very helpful staff. We all had Sunday roasts, very good portion size.
V. F.
Lovely setting. Interesting and varied menu. The service was slightly too slow as we were starving. The food was presented very well and I left feeling extremely full after two courses.
V. E.
Had a brilliant festive meal before Christmas with friends. Beautiful building and lovely food. Only criticism is that service wasn’t very attentive even though it wasn’t too busy.
L. R.
Just amazing. Thank you to all the staff :)
I. G.
Only popped in for a drink but found this place to be fantastic, it provides a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. The decor and lighting is very tasteful. Plus the staff are friendly and helpful making the experience memorable.
a. o.
Stylish pub restaurant. Didn't have a meal just sweet potato fries and hot chocolate which both were nice. Very smart trendy decor friendly staff.
Diffently recommend you check it out.
M.
Beautiful location and great staff. Have not tried the food yet but the location and atmosphere create a great combination for a lovely place to have a drink at. Also it is dog friendly- at least the garden.
R.
The room was nice, but few minor problems, no lightbulbs in lamp, ironing board left leaning next to door, outdoor iron spiral staircase only access to room. Room belows extractor fan buzzes loudly in room. Blind broken on door. No dedicated check in, long wait at public bar.
P. W.
Really good set up for rule of 6 outdoor meal a social event.
Great beer and food as would be expected!!
N. 5.
Lovely place.Food over priced.
J. G.
Food pricey but very nice, service needs improving!
M. D.
Fun place but totally overwhelmed by its own popularity as a result had to wait over 90 minutes for food to arrive, which was a shame 😕
E. H.
Lovely place if your very trendy - not my sort of thing though I know it is popular. Food was delicious but expensive for what it is. Overall I will go again but as a treat
M. O.
Lovely staff and great food
J. G.
Smart place. Very welcoming appearance and staff. Loved the large bath in room (quick to fill) with tv view. Large comfy bed. Good breakfast and good place to be.
J. P.
Great place for a stop over. Bedrooms are beautiful. We had one with 2 baths and a four poster! Just lush. Pop down for an ice cream from the parlor at the front!
M. P.
Bright cheerful welcome on a very wet day. Food excellent. Great choice of gins. Good puds.
S. D.
Food a little cold. Beers not great choice but overall ok experience.
J. M.
Lovely food, and friendly staff.
S. A.
Well kept considering it's been open for over 3 years now. Staff are well mannered and the food is well made. Smaller tables could be better presented as you do feel something is missing.
G. B.
Great food in a great setting. Lots of indoor and outside seating areas and friendly staff.
P. S.
Lovely venue. Car park is very small though and only for hotel guests only.
J.
Nice Place, friendly staff. Sat in the garden for a meal and few drinks. Food was good but limited menu available due to obvious covid situation.
F. C.
Best Hotel loved it
M. F.

Very good indeed
A.
We had a lovely meal here. Prices are very reasonable and atmosphere is relaxed.
One of the nicest establishments in Bedford for sure.
S. B.
Been coming here for years. Even before renovation. Classy place, in nice part of town. nice decor. Close to town center and beford park. Parking at rear. Would highly recommend.
S. S.
Great atmosphere and staff always lovely. The menu is really repetitive and lacks a specials board. I think they are missing a trick here
r. w.
Beautiful refit. Good selection of drinks and the food is stunning.
Prices are on the steep side, but you get what you pay for.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
A. R.
Went here for lunch today and had one of their burgers. Portion was huge and flavour was great. Excellent service, will definately return. Well done.
R. H.
The staff at the De Parys are really great. Always willing to help and very attentive. Also enjoyable to chat to. We're regular visitors and will definitely return.
S. L.
A little slow but on Sunday dinner time that can be expected... other than that everything was good except the brussels... like little bullets.... the dessert was awesome... We will return as a good experience
L. F.
Lovely place, very good wine, lovely service. Highly recommended
J. B.
Great food, excellent service and marvellous staff - really great experience. Thanks to everyone at D'Parys!

R. S.
The most fantastic Christmas dinner.
The staff were fantastic as was the food.
Well done guys. Hope to see you next year.
M.
Very nice and laid back gastro pub. One of the staff seemed to be having an "off day" and was rather grumpy but the place is great .
J. b.
Usually a good restaurant but spoilt with the noise of chritmas partues. Lo g wait between courses and cold food. I wiil return to D'Parys and will recommend it .... but not during the run up to Christmas.
B. P.
