Nice food and atmosphere as always. This time some of the food was slightly burnt from the grill but it was really busy in the pub and also my previous experience was always good so I can accept this little issue as an accident due to the lot of customers. Highly recommended!

UPDATE: Staff replied below but glossed over the terrible quality of the food and replacement gammon. If rating the food alone I would have left 1 star. I have given three because the staff are friendly and professional. We had a carvery for my mothers birthday yesterday which was absolutely atrocious. The only edible things on the plate were the meat and cauliflower. The Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were as dry and chewy as cardboard. The mash potato and gravy each had the texture of wallpaper paste. The only green veg on offer was sprouts, which I hate (along with cauliflower) so had no option of alternative greens. I had to ask for a replacement meal, my mother should have but she didn't want to be a bother. The staff said the food is "checked" every half an hour, but I would love to know what exactly it's checked for? It had clearly been sat under the heat lamp most of the day, resulting in the cardboard texture. They replaced my mothers Yorkshire pudding with another from the same batch, so the were equally as bad, (logic?). I was given a gammon meal as a replacement and that was also atrocious. The gammon "steak" was only as thick as a £1 coin , burned to a char and stringy with fat. I had a tiny portion of chips which doesn't make up for help-yourself carvery. In the end the birthday meal was ruined and we all left hungry, including my two year old toddler who was starving after the wacky. (she turned her nose up at the terrible food also). Suffice it to say, we won't be eating here again - which is a shame because the other services on offer here are great.

Nice pub warm with welcoming staff. Met Mandy today who was lovely. Food very tasty not a long wait, my husband thoroughly enjoyed his carvery. Can't do half * so had to give 4* would have been 5* had the plates with hot food been much warmer. On the whole we would recommend The Old House At Home.

Had a really good time, we reserved our table and called up to see if we was on the list, they confirmed over the phone.. However our name wasn't on the list when we got there but still happy to seat us. Probably the best experience I've had in there, very clean and carvery tickets where given when my food had came out of the kitchen. Very clean! The drinks came straight away.. We ordered everything threw the app and had the same bar tender delivered them. My brother in law had the veggie option carvery (in the Yorkshire pud) pic.

Been here many many times over the years, always found the food average. This time I found food outstanding, I had mini mixed grill, the wife had lamb shank. Really cooked to perfection, and excellent service.

Had a lovely experience at lunchtime today. Accessed the pub with a young lady with autism. Asked if we could sit in a quiet area. Staff were very helpful. I had problems with the app (my own fault!) What an outstanding carvery! I’m hard to please when it comes to eating out, I expect the standard to be the same as I can cook or higher and it often isn’t. The vegetables were cooked really well, as was the meat. The staff were really nice and helpful too. The guy who served us the food was a true credit to the company and Aaron who served us at the bar was also a credit. Well worth a visit.

Great pub, good carvery and connected to a soft play area for the kids. Update. We had a kids party there from 9am to 11am. The hosts Tia and Tash at the wacky warehouse were excellent and attentive. I couldn't have asked for more. They let us in 15 min earlier to setup. Would 100% recommend this place.

It was ok, slightly manic but it was a Sunday dinner time. Moms were arguing in the children’s play area, however I understand this isn’t the businesses fault but it can get quite loud in there. The cheese sauce on the hunters chicken wasn’t right though, thick like squirty cheese and had a bitter rotten taste to it so my partner couldn’t eat his meal, one of the waiters nodded and smiled when he asked how the meal was and we said the cheese was strange so I think he knew too. The carvery was nice though, decent selection of veg and the meat was nice too. Sophie at the bar was lovely, such a friendly young woman, there was another woman at the bar too, unfortunately I didn’t get her name who was also very lovely.

We met there 14 and half years ago and our first date was 5 and half hours at the Old House. Yes, just sat eating drinking and talking for 5 half hours! Nice pub. Would recommend

I had a lovely time here the other day. Had a mix of main meals and carvery, Sam was our chef and Pete served our carvery. We were also served by Jess at the bar who was an absolute delight! 100% recommend to anyone in the area. Plus they've got a Wacky Warehouse... who knew!? Friendly staff not busy for a Friday evening app worked well bur food wasn't great. Carvery veg was either under or over cooked potatoes crispy but not very warm paid for extra Yorkshire but didn't eat them asthey were tough and chewy not crisp and light again nottoo warm. A superb Carvery - great quality food with a really good variety of veg to choose from. The staff are friendly with good knowledge of special dietary requirements. All of the staff are following the guidelines to ensure a safe visit is guaranteed but are doing so in such a professional way. The carvery serving staff were so nice and cheerful and a special mention to Ben who helped us with the app when we were struggling with it. Throughout the visit the staff checked to make sure that we had everything we needed which made it an enjoyable visit.

A wonderful place to go to enjoy a carvery - in my opinion the best in the area. From the moment we stepped inside we received nothing but the best service. We were warmly greeted by Donna who went out of the way to make sure that our visit was superb. She catered to our requests for a change of table (personnel preference) and guided us through the vegetarian options. Such good customer care given. The meal itself was fantastic - such a lot of choice of different vegetables and all cooked to perfection. We were served by Tasha who was a delight - she didn’t bat an eye when I asked for more parsnips even after my first generous portion (I do love my parsnips). She was friendly, helpful and happy to answer any questions. Overall the visit was fantastic, we all enjoyed a delicious meal, were served by friendly staff, were table checked regularly and were made to feel safe during these Covid times with easy to follow strategies that ensure the safety of the customers and staff. Well done to everyone at The Old House at Home Harborne you are doing a wonderful job.

Although food and staff were nice the company need to rethink there inflexible attitude towards using the app only, i know businesses are still using covid procedures but I spent 10 minutes trying to download the app as I had weak signal I asked if we could just order and pay as we were in rush to be then offered the WiFi code which is not the waiters fault as we felt he was probably under pressure to promote the app, after another 5 minutes of messing about he took our order after I had to ask again to pay, this is very off putting it’s less hassle to go to McDonald’s, also our elderly family members won’t go to any pubs that put pressure on to use the app as they are nervous about it. It’s putting off customers. Nice pub just feedback that the company should take on board.

We were a little apprehensive but the team have gone to great lengths to make us feel comfortable. This is an excellent pub for wheelchair users this is my third visit in 4 or 6 wks , 3 x for food variety and prices are very good every meal we’ve had has been above our expectations. My husband and I were with friends celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary Arron made our visit a great night. All the Staff are very helpful and pleasant. Great pub to visit and suitable for a visit with all the family. The food is gorgeous and I'd definitely recommend the Sunday carvery. They serve hot and cold beverages and a wide range of alcoholic drinks. The kids play building is on the same site and great for an hour or two. Staff are great and the pub has a lovely cosy feel. Visited on a Sunday morning for the unlimited breakfast. Fantastic value for money, under £4.50 for an unlimited breakfast that included unlimited tea/coffee can not be faulted. The quality was very good, Micheal, one of the staff members was friendly and extremely welcoming. Honestly if anyone wants an unlimited breakfast at a price I doubt could be bettered in relaxing surroundings look no further!

Great food, great service and great social distancing measures. It’s best to book but will still try and accommodate walk-ins. You queue outside so no bottle neck getting in. Staff all in masks so you feel really safe. All Covid safety measures explained really well

As good as it gets for a pub diner. Friendly staff, extensive menu as well as a 1st class carvery better than any I have tried elsewhere. Carvery succeeds through its simplicity. Veggie option available, then turkey, gammon and succulent 14 hour roasted beef. Veg includes bubble and squeal., broccoli, cauliflower cheese, carrots, swede, mashed and roast potatoes and parsnips. Two gravies available, plain or onion, both delicious, not forgetting the Yorkshire puddings, you get these too, crunchy and delicious, and you can add a portion of pigs in blankets, very nice. If you want peas they are cooked fresh to order on request. Very filling and delicious pudding selection too!

This was our first visit to this place for a few years. We had booked a table for 11 people to celebrate mothers day. The first words from the waiting staff were, you will be out of here by 4.15 as we have another booking!! The food was okay, but not what we had expected, from our last visit a few years earlier this pub has gone down hill. One of our party had chosen to have a carvery, the rest of us chose from the menu, we were told that the person having a carvery would be told at an appropriate time to get his carvery so we could all eat together, this did not happen.

This old pub has certainly gone down hill, it's lost the wow factor, the new clientele makes the pub rough and noisy. The food isn't that good, I rate it 5/10, steak clumpy and tough and chips lukewarm. My total spend just over £80.00 for 3 adults and 2 children seems ok, but I have eaten better for less at other places. It's a shame that a once beautiful pub has lost its sparkle, it's going to need a lot of work to bring back it's old customers. The young lady who served us at the bar appeared to be switched on and very efficient, she also brought the food to our table as well as running everything else.

Well what can I say...we had a table booked for a surprise 21st birthday. I asked for some balloons to be done and they were up with fancy string when we arrived. We just had to do bits and bobs. Tasha, our waitress was an absolute gem and she couldnt have worked any harder than she did for us. Very polite an patient. Food was quick on arrival and some had carvery which was great. Hot and enjoyable as we waited for other meals to come b4 we got carvery, so we all ate together. The guy on carvery was polite an when asked if he coyld hold open the service until other meals came, he was curtious and said he would. Bar staff were friendly and quick and we were served with a smile and respect. I cannot praise this Pub and its staff enough for the service that they provide. Everyone we visit we are greeted with friendly faces and always with Hello. Well done Donna for your staff. We will return again for a cracking service.

Popped in on Christmas Day. Staff were very nice, helpful and happy to be working. Floor was really sticky from the night before and the bathroom needed cleaning. The wall by the hand drier was dirty and I got black marks on my jeans. It's not as nice as it used to be when I drank here in my 20s, but still has some charm.

This is a good idea and handy as it's close to us but I found that the under 5's area could have done with being different and having a gate. My 1 year old just kept running out and wanted to go where the bigger kids were. It was far to dangerous for her to go in there at that age. Also I got charged way to much for an instant coffee because the machine had broken!. It should have been cheaper. We also ordered food bit not only was the basket that the cutlery was in dirty but the cutlery was too. Luckily I had wipes to clean ours with but there's no way I would have used them otherwise.

Ok for a quick drink outside on a hot day to watch the world go by but can get quite busy inside with youngsters running around in areas they shouldn't.
