Reviews of Post Office Vaults
S. S.
Lovely quaint place for a pint. Bartender is good fun. Atmosphere is friendly and it's a nice slow pace considering its In the middle of the city
J. P.
A really nice underground pub offering a huge amount of drinks from around the world. Whilst a small location it all sorts of people, from seasoned beer nerds through to students and all in between.
It might not be for everyone as at times it can get very busy and claustrophobic but I would recommend visiting at least once. A true institution. Friendly staff and theres always customers there who are up for a chat.
T. A.
Subterranean pub. 8 real ales. 20 ciders.300 bottled beer.
M. U.
3 stars at best. I apologize. It was dead. Beers, dare i say craft ale, (not Hobsons craft) was acceptable. One beer,.one pub, move on. Bar staff,.not knowledgeable. Don't come. x
P. H.
Came up from London and spent the day in Birmingham on a Monday. Excellent selection of Real Ale, a well curated playlist and the landlord's advice about the spicy cashews and suggestion of Shebabs for a curry after were spot on. Excellent pub.
J. A.
Very small but cosy pub with an excellent variety of craft beer in the fridge and on cask. Friendly and welcoming staff.
D. T.
Popped in after afternoon Symphony Hall gig. Great selection of beers and ciders(wifey enjoyed ciders). Friendly staff, nice proper pub.
R. W.
This is a proper pub/bar...with a twist. The twist being it feels very non corporate serving a really interesting palette of beers and ciders. Local and/or micro beers on draught, an excellent selection of bottled beers from all over with German and Belgium beers in good supply, including my favourite 'rauchbier' (smoked beer from Bamberg), and an impressive range of 'real' ciders. Staff are knowledgable and engaging with the good mix of female and male customers. Anyone would feel really comfortable here.
The bar does play background music, but it is always interesting! When I was most recently there the music selection had a late 60s vibe going on. It was great to hear the Doors, Velvets and early Stones, but it could have easily been contemporary Indie or Jazz.
Whenever I am in Brum...The Vaults is always a
Port of Call. It is a nice one!!
B. T.
I liked it, the wife not so sure which is why only the 3 stars. A little dated internally but this is a pub tucked away with traditional ciders and good real ale. Great price to. I would happily come here every visit for something a little different. If ya like real ale or traditional ciders, then another place to visit in the centre.
J. C.
Great beer, great music (not too loud to inhibit chatting), knowledgeable staff. A wonderful place to visit for a good beer or two.
m. j.
Great beers, good atmosphere, friendly pub.
M. A.
Laid back pub that doesn’t t try to be something it isn’t. There are no bells nor whistles. And you have to respect it for that. 5 stars!
A. T.
One of my favourite Birmingham secrets, feels like coming home whenever we go here. Beer selection is fantastic.
A. S.
I’ve been to this pub a few times now, love it as it has lots of real ciders on all year. On this visit it has 11 on. This pub is easy to miss as the entrance is small so you can easily walk past it. They don’t do food but your are allowed to bring your own.
Highly recommended if you like proper cider
G. T.
Hidden gem in Birmingham city, great atmosphere, great service and selection of drinks. Was there early before going on elsewhere but reckon it would be great early or late!
S. C.
Went for afyer work drinks. Place was busy but plenty of seating for such a small place. If you like beer/cider, great choice. A proper pub, traditional, smells like a pub. Really friendly staff and clientele. No food served, but you can take your own in.
V. R.
As good as ever. The quality (and quantity) of drinks on offer is always first-class. Cracking atmosphere and environment, too. Just feel so comfortable and relaxed when drinking there.
K. K.
Lovely selection of both local and Belgian beers. A nice little hideaway to warm up any time of year, but particularly after the German market!
M. (. S. K.
How can you not like the POV. All the ingredients present and correct for a top real ale pub. Ideal whilst waiting for a train ... just be sure to allow yourself 30 mins to find your platform 😉
S. K.
This is a very unique place to go. They have a large section of ales, craft beers and ciders to choose from. The staff are very friendly and helpful when you can’t decide. The pub itself isn’t huge, so if you want a seat I would go early. It has a nice atmosphere and you don’t get much reception down there so you have to be social. 😝
M. E.
A bar which just keeps me coming back. They know their beer and and it shows. The Post Office Vaults' selection of beers is second to none, with fine examples from across the world. I've always found the team behind the bar to be warm and friendly as well as informative and entertaining. If you're debating where to go for a drink in central Birmigham, debate no more...!
N. H.
Very good pub in centre of Birmingham, tonnes of beers and ciders to choose from. No food. Proper old school pub, great selections from UK craft breweries and worldwide bottles.
M. S.
Popped in to escape the rain and a heaving German Market. Been going for years, but hadn't been since onset of Covid. Cracking beers as ever and bit of a laugh with the barman when someone had the temerity to order Carling! Very, very busy, but everyone else was also trying to escape the downpour, too, so understandable.
R. B.
Excellent beer although a little small. Bar staff very helpful and friendly
C. B.
Nice beer choices, good atmosphere on a quick visit to our home county. Not too busy
C. W.
The beer here is brilliant, so much variety! The unusual style bar makes for a very cosy and pleasant atmosphere and the staff are always really friendly. It's definitely worth a visit if you've never been
J. R.
Popped in after a gig at Symphony Hall. Good atmosphere. Reasonable prices and an interesting choice of ales.
M. T.
Small cellar bar with a large selection of Belgian beer in bottle as well as real ale on tap. No food but can bring in without problem. Can get busy especially at weekends
B. H.
Mike and Rattle Snake offered a great experience. Definitely stop by for a good night and some great beers!
P. R.
One of the best Pubs in Britain. Amazing range of beers from around the globe!
H.
Great selection of ales and beers. My favourite place to go if in the city for the evening.
M. K.
Great choice of cider and very nice. Staff friendly and helpful.
p. b.
Down the apples and pears to a pub that used to be named The Royal Mail. Some very good ales here and you should see real ale enthusiasts
C. P.
An excellent ale stop.
On my visit, there were 8 draft ales, 6 kegs beers, and 12 draught ciders. There were plenty of bottled beers as well. As a beer nerd, this is thoroughly recommended.
D. S.
Great little venue great choice of beer. Your local in the city ❤️
A. S.
Great selection of beer, helpful bar staff. Would have given five stars were it not for the customers at the bar obscuring access to the ales on tap.
G.
Check the beer 'bible', where to begin? In addition to several changing beers on handpump and a good range of ciders. It's a very small bar and gets crowded quickly.
H. B.
Lovely little hidden Gem in Birmingham, staff were lovely, traditional ales sold as well as ciders and lagers.
C. B.
Small real ale bar, in the mould of a dive bar, cosy rough around the edges with great choice of real ales, ciders and classic bar snacks. Basement location on main route between New Street and town square. Standing room only at busy times however worth a visit
K. F.
Tiny place, so not the best during these times. My choice of ale want the best either
C. A.
Lovely pub in the heart of Birmingham.
Great selection of ale, continental beers and more.
Well recommended.
M. P.
Variety of ciders and beers, and super cosy atmosphere. Enjoyed every minute of it!
K. C.
Weird but interesting place. Bit musty but real ale in good shape.
A. T.
Great little pub with an amazing beer selection
w. t.
Been there from r quick drink with my love after dinner. Not bad for quickie. Have good variety in cask n draft. I always love keg. Nice n quiet atmosphere, cool staff, cool n hidden location inCentre of the city.
V. W.
Good beers great Belgian selection, great/knowledgeable landlord!
J. M.
Cool interior, helpful staff and a great selection of beers. Best vault city collection I've seen in a pub
s. g.
THE place if your serious about beer. Knowledgeable staff and great selection from around the world A+
J. P.
Quiet & chilled underground bar with a strong extensive beer bible.
Cask kept well, could do with a spruce up after looking the same for years but if you’re all about the real ale & bottled Belgian, you’re sorted.
Worth a few rounds at least!
K. B. R.
Cool and unique hidden gem with great local ales, this was a highlight of our Birmingham trip and just what we were hoping to find 🍻
B. W.
Really enjoyed this place but you'll easily walk past it!
R. W.
This is my favourite pub in Birmingham..the beer selection is FANTASTIC..!!!! Kwak served in a pub.. insane..!!!!
C. C.
Great selection of beers. We enjoyed a lovely mulled cider! Very small inside which makes it quite intimate.
T. P.
Good selection of beers. Most beers never heard of but good to try new ones.
S. L.
Plenty of beer choice. Not too pricey. Good service.
P. L.
Awesome no frills hidden backstreet pub.
b. g.
Great beer. Great bar staff. Relaxed atmosphere.
I. L.
A nice little pub, secreted downstairs in Birmingham. A nice selection of real ales and ciders, been here a few times in the past and never been disappointed. A visit is a must.
G. A.
Simple surroundings. Highlighted for its diverse range of bottles. The drinks menu is the size of a novel!
B. L.
Amazing place for real beer, friendly staff and a real unique place. A must do for beer lovers
J. C.
Amazing hidden little gem with a great selection of beers
T. G. N.
Good beers but not such a good room. Nice staff .
G. M.
Nice beer, great staff, highly recommend.
A. K.
Great atmosphere and nice drinks. Nice little find in the heart of Birmingham
J. S.
Walked past this at first, and had to retrace steps! Lovely selection of beers in the vault.
R. E.
Great little real ale and cider pub, friendly staff and massive drink selection easy to chose by looking through the beer menu that's called 'the beer bible'
D. M.
Quiet for a city centre bar with an unrivalled selection of beers.
I.
Not a pub you would visit for the decor but great choice of ales and good atmosphere.
C. S.
Nice real beer pub, good selection and bar staff know what they are talking about
P. K.
If you're not a real ale drinker, stay away! Cute bar for authentic drinkers.
J. M.
Love this place, every time we ho town me and the other half pop in for a few. Comfortable friendly atmosphere.
R. M.
A favourite beer haunt, with the city's best selection of bottled beers from across the world. If you're after a pint of Carling, don't go here. Want to try something with flavour, character and get it served by bar men and women who know their products? Head to POV!
J.
Amazing 2 pints of titanic plumb porter. The beer was kept well and I had a lovely chat with a stranger
S. H. (.
Perks and his team keep good beer. Don't ask about the secret wall 🤫
L. H.
Incredible beer selection and the knowledge of the bartenders is second to none. If you want to try something unique, this is the place!
G. D.
Very good selection of beverages but slightly on the expensive side.
m. n.
A fantastic hidden little bolt hole, with probably one of the best beer collections in England (top 5 atleast)
M. L.
What a pub. Mike is knowledgeable and passionate about beer. Great beers on tap. An absolute gem.
W. P.
Great little place, 3 mins walk from New Street so ideal for a swifty before your train.
Fantastic selection including Marshmallow Stout :-p
C. W.
One of the best bars in Birmingham. Amazing choice of bottled beers. Small but great atmosphere
W. W.
Nice bar, small and cosy, cool vibe...warm welcome
S. W.
Excellent selection of cider at a reasonable price
T. P.
Great beer selection as always, tried a Japanese whiskey recommended by the bar man, ended up ordering a bottle the next day.
R. J.
A superb place tucked away in the heart of Birmingham. Plenty of real ales, pub games, and interesting people to chat with.
D. M.
Good boozer, best selection of craft ciders I've seen in any pub. Don't serve food but welcome to take and eat your own food, even supply plates and cutlery for, won't get that in many places. Really worth a look
A. C.
Decent Cask Ales and a great bottle selection
W. H.
Great niche little boozer. Fine selection of beverages for all the discerning alcoholics. Good place to go with friends for a catch up, as it is one of the few places left that don't deafen customers with music. It even has Bar Billiards (if you, unlike me, can figure out the rules)
B. L.
Not as big a selection of Belgian Beers as expected
L. T.
Great for Belgian beer, staff were friendly, great atmosphere.
W. M.
Love this place. Fantastic selection of cask and bottled beers. Quite an unassuming place, but they let you being in your own food and will even provide plates and cutlery! If your unsure what to drink, just ask the staff have a great knowledge of beers and will let you taste them!
M. L.
One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham, definitely my favourite when it comes to beer. Good selection of English ale at the tap. Absolutely gigantic selection of bottled Belgian beers (plus a few from other countries). The place has no sunlight as it is in the basement, it is often packed and it can get a little noisy but trust me it's worth it.
R.
Really cool little place. They serve a huge range of beers, which is usually why I go here - it’s hard to find Belgian beers in Birmingham! However all the imported beers come with a bigger price tag, as would be expected. The atmosphere is always good, with a positive vibe, though because it’s a small place it can get very crowded on the weekends, so expect to hang about for a table if visiting then. If you’re a beer lover I would really recommend this place - it’s fun to hang out for a few hours and make your way through their menu! Staff are friendly and very knowledgable, I’ve always enjoyed their recommendations.
C. G.
Beers are kept well and there is an amazing range. This is a place for people who appreciate beer and want to try new flavours. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The bar is always fairly full, a good indication of the quality of the place. Drop in, enjoy a good pint.
M. S.
It wasn't bad. Service was good. The beer selection was good. The crowd was miserable. The atmosphere was miserable. It felt like a hole you wanted to crawl in and die. The worst thing was that it had potential: great location, hidden in plain sight, but failed to deliver. Perhaps it should remain hidden.
(cheapest pint is £4)
B. C.
Awesome bar man, can have a laugh, Belgium beer their for the price is cheap, so nice, i recommend!
K. P.
Lovely place x and reasonable prices. Will go again. X
L. B.
A really wide selection of drinks and the staff were super friendly. They enjoyed making conversation with me and I liked hearing about the history of the building.
Ask the barmen to tell you about some of the more unusual drinks they’ve served over the years - including a doughnut, bacon and maple liquor and a hot sauce beer. They’ll gladly take the bottles down from the wall and share their story with you.
G.
Great selection, and a well rounded great boozer.
No muzzled sheep in sight. Brilliant!
M. H.
One of the best places in Birmingham to sample ales and ciders. It is a very small space though and very 'rustic', but we always enjoy going. I've reviewed at 3 stars, only because there's occasional smells from open drains/the toilets wafting in, which is strong enough to put anyone off their pint
J. C.
One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham. This little place is hidden in plain sight and has a great atmosphere. The largest selection of beers and ciders served by any pub I know. Located not too far from new street station, I always make the effort to pop over for a pint between trains
r. t.
Best range of Belgian beer in the Midlands
g. h.
Used to be one of THE best places for beer enthusiasts as the choice of bottled beers is massive. The choice of beers still is huge but now the place itself is beginning to look and feel tired when compared to an ever increasing choice of bars springing up from massive investment in the area.
D. R. (.
Very male orientated. Rather small basement type bar. A large selection of British & European beers, stouts and real ales on offer. You go to a place like this because you have a genuine love of authentic beers, nothing else!! The offerings are excellent. Needs to attract more interest from women to improve the atmosphere!
W. D. W.
Always a cool place to go for a drink and chill...
G. O.
Bit small but nice staff.
R. D.
This place was a good find, a pleasant atmosphere without loud background music, means that you can have a conversation. The bar staff were efficient and friendly. A good range of ales, beers and spirits were available. Will definitely be returning
S. M.
Absolutely brilliant 👍 good to see it open again!
J. M.
They sell Roger Wilkins Cider .....the best cider in the world
A. F.
BEAUTIFUL beer 😍🍻 The only problem is they have so many beers to choose from that it's so hard to decide 🤩
s. w.
Best place for beer lovers. A menu of beers from around the world and a great atmosphete
M. K.
One of my favorite pubs in Birmingham. Large selection of ciders and bottled beers, some of which are hard to find Belgian beers. Usually 6+ cask ales to choose from. It is a small space, and can get crowded at times, but I've never had a bad time here.
B. V.
Had always heard about this place but just got a chance to go. It's easily missed due to its location (between shops) but they have a very wide range of beers and ale and cider. It's not that spacious on the inside but the staff are lovely and I'll definitely go again.
I. K.
A proper pub. Good beer.
C. C.
Hidden gem
Great selection of beers and good place to catch up with friends if you can get a seat.
Being used as a thoroughfare while the tram works are underway much to the bartender's annoyance.
j. s.
What a find! Amazing range of Belgium beers. A "must visit" place if you like real Belgium ale feel! We will be going back.
W. C.
This is my favourite pub in Birmingham by a mile. Huge selection of well-kept beers, knowledgeable staff and friendly clientele. Pub is comfortable and centrally located. If you love beer, you have to go to the Post Office Vaults.
N. V.
Really cool little pub! It's not big or looks like anything special - in fact I like minimal with this place. No music or other distractions you actually talk to each other.Once you start trying the range of beers they have - that's all you need.Amazing selection!
Missing one star because I wish I could sit outside in the sunshine.
C. L.
Certainly a little hidden gem.
Great and wonderful beer selection, feels like your old traditional pub.
Great atmosphere for catching up with friends or colleagues.
K. L.
This is a very easy place to miss, having such an inconspicuous entrance from New Street. It's well worth making the effort to find and cram inside this tiny pub, which has an almost unmatched variety of beers to choose from. The staff know their stuff and can make recommendations based on your tastes. This should be on the list for any real ale enthusiasts.
S. M.
This is the greatest place for ales in the city centre. A very good selection, knowledgeable staff to guide you and hidden enough that it doesnt ever feel too busy. Especially with Covid protection in place, I can't help but pop in, whenever I'm in town! 🤷♂️🤷♂️
S. H.
Amazing selection of beer in a brilliantly cosy environment. The bar staff are knowledgable and friendly, they'll help you whittle down the overwhelming choice. The sign also says you can even bring your own food and they'll give you cutlery and plates (we didn't test this out, but there were plates there).
S. T. H.
Cozy atmosphere and amazing selection of beers! The staff is super friendly and helpful.
It was a pleasure to meet you guys!!
Sorry I couldn't make it on my last day there.
Hopefully see you soon!!
P. B.
Superb real ale selection, plus draft craft ales and the largest bottled beer menu in the city. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. And thankfully no Carling!
J. W.
A great little below ground bar, with excellent beers on handpull & a couple of better lagers, and fantastic range of imported bottled beers from Germany, Belgium and other countries. Also at least 8 different real ciders/perries from the barrel (not silly Magners!) Very knowledgeable staff if you unsure what to try, and a beer menu book to browse. It's only a small place, so can be very crowded if busy making it tricky to get a seat sometimes. Imported beers a bit pricey, but the choice is wonderful.
S. M.
A brilliant selection of ales, lagers and ciders; many of which are local. Friendly knowledgeable staff who are only too happy to answer any questions. Gets busy of an evening and weekend so be prepared to stand - it is worth it! A proper little hidden gem!
S. H.
Very quiet pub, nice if you want a nice quiet drink, good selection of beers on tap, we visited on a quiet day and this may have influenced the atmosphere of the place. Staff were friendly and helpful and more than willing to help with selecting the right drink for the job.
M. W.
Beer is varied and well kept; large range of real ciders; hundreds of bottled continental beers. Only downside is that the pub is quite small and underground - can get a little crowded, but if you're prepared to wait there's always enough space even for a large-ish group.
M. L.
Great real ale pub on New Street
G. W.
I live in a village with an abundance of real ales so when visiting the vaults I tend to look through their beer bible and choose a nice foreign beer of which there is a large amount to select from. If you are serious about beer and like to try something different this is a great pub. There are always local beers on tap too of you fancy an English pint and if you take your own food they will supply you with a plate and cutlery.
T. H. H.
Bar in an historic vault not far from New Street Station. At least 6 varying beers including award winners. Ciders available, and an extensive bottled Belgian beer selection complete with menu. Card payment available. Regularly changing clientele allows for seating to eventually become available even when busy. Bring your own food arrangement available.
R. B.
Birmingham's best kept secret.
J. B.
A great selection of some of the best Continental beers in the heart of Birmingham.
Had a lot of my favourites like Kasteel Rouge and Rochefort 10 which instantly put The Post Office Vaults at the top of my list of favourite places to drink in Birmingham!
R. L.
Fantastic selection of beers that is matched only by the Wellington. Unfortunate that it is so small but you can hardly blame the owners for that ; it just makes trying to get a seat difficult even on a Monday lunchtime.
It is not helped either by being a basement bar but surely something could be done about the musty odour that seems to be all-pervasive here. It is dank and dark and could do with investing in some sort of air conditioning.
Knowledgeable and generally friendly staff. If you have asthma or respiratory problems, remember to bring your inhaler as musty atmosphere and the climb up the stairs back to New Street can be a challenge. Maybe exit via Pinfold Street.
T. C.
Absolutely huge range of international beer and cider, ranging widely in price (due to the cost of import and rarity of different items). Really comfortable and cosy; despite being in the city centre it feels secluded and peaceful.
W. W.
Amazing what this refreshing addition to the pub scene has done in 8 months. Birmingham drinking wouldn't be half as good without it. Older drinkers will remember the old Royal Mail, and except for the missing lovely old wall panelling (trashed by the previous management, I believe), everything has been improved. As others have said, it serves Real Ales and an extensive Cider list, Craft Beers include the local Freedom range, and the largest bottled beer selection in the city. No Carling here!
J. H.
Amazing selection of beers, specialist in Belgium beers. There's even a menu with description of tastes so great for trying new beers. Staff are good and there's always a new beer to try.
p. v.
Cellar bar that successfully misses the rise. Friendly bar staff and good range of craft beers. If you want your 'characters' incident-free then land here for no nonsense Brummie cheer.
M.
Wide selection of drinks. Great for a small crowd. In my opinion one of the best but smallest pubs in Birmingham. The staff are knowledgeable and can help most people pick out a drink they like
M. K.
Always great! I have been here a lot of times as they have 8 real ales in tap, more cider, draft beers and over 300 bottled beers.
It's small with a great atmosphere and very popular.
T. S.
Nice for a few cheeky craft beers!!!
S. B.
Great pub with a good, fresh ale selection.
m. s.
Compliments the New Street ale scene. Small underground bar with a nice changing range of guest ales, plus a large range of British and foreign bottled beers. The service bar is small and it can get crowded at obvious times, and seating is very limited
M.
A little confusing to find as it has 2 entrances on different streets. Was very busy when we went in and had lots of different beers and ciders on tap as well as in cans and bottles. A nice touch was the beer Bible on the tables and bar to help you decide and find new drinks
A. P.
Nice selection of beers
M. m. m.
My favourite pub in Brum. Great selection of ales and the staff are great fun and very helpful, especially Andrew! It's like a friendly local in the middle of the city. Highly recommended.
B. D.
A great selection of world beers, mainly from Belgium. Friendly and knowledgeable bar staff and an easy relaxed atmosphere. A true hidden gem in the center of Birmingham.
B. M.
Wonderfull little pub with a fantastic selections of ales and other boozes. We went on a Sunday. Was busy but had no music, which was nice. Brilliant bar staff. A great haven from the heaving hordes of shoppers.
C. K.
An old bar in Birmingham next to the post office. It has a huge selection of ciders and beers. Is downstairs so a little dark but always busy. Prices are good and everyone is friendly. Great place to visit for a good cider.
L. P.
Small cosy little pub in centre of Birmingham
A. C.
He thought it was brill
A. M.
A downstairs bar that is CAMRA certified, so a good selection of real ales . Quality of ale was so so IMO. Left with stomach feeling quite acidic. Saying that, for a Friday night it wasn't too rammed or full of drunken idiots, just more mature peeps.
S. S. K.
Great real ale pub in the very centre of Birmingham. Excellent selection of ales, ciders and Belgium beers. Highly recommended for fans of traditional beer and pubs.
K. W.
Great place. That is when you eventually work out which exit to leave New Street Station on!! Then you need to find the exit. Good selection of beers. Easy to miss if you don't look out for it.
J. B.
Nice subterranean bar with an excellent selection of microbrews from around the world including American IPAs which are my favourite. Prices are naturally high but this is to be expected from a city centre location and the quality of the beer.
S. A.
Small Historic Bar not far from new street station has a large stock of ales and imported beers from all over the world. Always busy has a nice atmosphere staff are extremely knowledgeable of the beers.
n. n.
What a cracking pub. Great choice of beers, well kept, and pleasant, friendly and helpful bar staff. I didn't catch the name of the guy behind the bar tonight (19/6/18) but he's an absolute credit to the place.
S. P.
It's a temple to beer. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, a brilliant bottle list, and a good range on tap. No bells and whistles, and not enough space, but probably the best pub in Birmingham.
J. R.
Had some mates visiting from the states so took them here as they like their craft brews. Needless to say none of us were disappointed! I don't even like beer and was able to enjoy a couple of them! Will certainly be back in their again!
M. W.
Great selection of beers with a friendly atmosphere. One of my favourite places to go for a drink.
L. B.
Easy to miss, hard to forget. Pub in a basement. Great range of real ale, real ciders, craft beer, international lager and Belgian beauties. All coupled with service with a smile.
P. M.
Called in after we had been to the Town hall for a concert. The atmosphere was good but the overwhelming smell of damp needs dealing with. Won't be going back unless the smell is eradicated. Seating arrangement is a little strange. Some tables very difficult to get to when it's busy.
C. W.
Great if you are in to real ale and ciders. You can take your own food in to eat. Quite a small bar area, friendly staff.
R. F.
Great little side street pub that specialises in real ales and good range of ciders. Can be found in pinfold street Birmingham at the top of new street just before the town hall. Would recommend a visit to anyone in the city.
R. H.
Lovely drinks, lovely atmosphere, staff are completely inoffensive and knowledgeable. Welcoming and cosy pub with huge range of beer for such a small pub.
a. a.
What a fine establishment. A good number of well kept and varied real ale mixed with a fantastic massive selection of bottled proper foreign beer. A must visit for puritans of fine beer.
T. F.
Wide selection of good beer& cider. Vibrant but not overpoweringly noisy, close to the centre and just the right size.
S. K.
Nice pub and atmosphere, with a great selection of beers. But also an amazing gin I tried for the first time, from Tiny Rebel brewery!
A. S.
What a find. Down a small staircase into a quaint pub. In the middle of Birmingham. Lots of beer. A really nice place to pass time away from the shops whilst still amongst them!!
J. B.
Nice little pub that has good selection of beers. Not easy to get in and out and seating limited. Not ideal for people with and mobility problems.
K. C.
Cosy little bar with a good choice of beers and ciders. As the name suggests, it is below ground, the stairs from New Street are quite steep, Pinfold Street entrance is easier. No food, but you are welcome to take your own.
K. R.
Huge selection of specialist ales, usually limited editions too. The place is small, essentially a basement bar, the atmosphere is friendly... As you'd always find with CAMRA type places
J. H.
Best beer bar in the locale by a good way. Fab selection; knowledgable staff, most of whom are very friendly!
O. B.
A bit spit and sawdust but the beers and ales on offer are first class. Good barstaff too. On the small side, so you might struggle to get a table.
S. J.
Nice and quiet, on a Friday afternoon. Small, but cozy. Mostly cask handles, and bottle list too. Really nice and worth the visit.
A. J.
Love this pub-one of my favourites anywhere - a must visit if in Brum.
B. M.
Great little pub with an amazing selection of beers. Really friendly bar staff too. Recommend!
E. M.
Cracking range of ale coupled with ever so friendly ambience - Love this place - One of my 'go to' places whenever in Birmingham - Definitely recommend
M. h.
Lovely very knowledgeable staff. Great atmosphere. Tons of beers. If I had more time I'd of stayed all day.
C. W.
Small and often crowded, but a great selection and a central location. It could probably do with a bit of a refurb but maybe that's part of the charm. I don't know really as this place is often my last stop on a pub crawl back to New Street station.
T. B.
Great range of beer, from just about everywhere in the world. Staff always happy to let you have tasters of cask ales and ciders.
P.
Great little pub. Very busy. Good choice of beer and cider. Lots of 'grown ups' and no lager louts!
M. A.
Brilliant selection of ales and cider, its a small pub so you have to go early to grab a seat, staff are friendly and they take card payments right by the train station and tram line
D. J.
Great place to visit! Hidden in the town centre area, but well worth the visit! Plenty of choice of beers at the bar! Staff friendly too!
Z. Z.
Great beer and friendly staff. Can be very busy but it's well worth stopping by for a pint....
G. K.
Extremely wide selection of beers, especially Belgian. Several types of gueze. Typically very quiet outside of Friday/Saturday evenings.
C. M.
Excellent selection of beers. Not usually too crowded despite being in the middle of town, probably because it is hard to find even if you are staring straight at it.
C. J.
Amazing selection of global beers and a nice authentic feel. Only drawback is limited seating and space, but that is to be expected given the location.
A. B.
Nice city pub. Good selection of local ales and imported beers (think Devonshire cat in Sheffield). The interior is well decorated and welcoming.
S. J.
Cosy subterranean bar, great beer and pleasant staff, good place to meet friends for a drink in Birmingham city centre and only 5 minutes walk from New Street railway station, there are road works currently outside the entrance making access a little problematic, I think they are extending the tram system to the town hall, at peak times at the weekend the bar can get very busy and crowded but this adds to the atmosphere.
P. D.
Small tucked away pub off New Street. Good range of continental bears, but the real ale section is a bit too quirky for my tastes!
J. R.
Good selection of beers, no food but you can bring you own and they will supply cutlery, decor could do with an update though it's abit 1970s
D. S.
Great range of beers and ciders. Good at giving advice and samples. Gets busy at peak times, but I can't fault what's on offer.
K. T.
Usually great beer and you can take your own food in. On my most recent visit beer was £5 a pint and not at it's best.
J. E.
Amazing establishment. The staff are extremely helpful in making sure you get a drink that you'll enjoy. Definitely one to come back to!
K. D.
What a find, great choice of real ales, ciders and more bottled beers than I could imagine. Great atmosphere with like minded people, certainly worth a visit.
G. M.
Great little place, fantastic selection of beer from around the world, you get a menu, thats right a menu of beer, really good atmosphere, only downside is place is very small and can get very crowded, can easily miss this place as well only heard about if from word of mouth and glad i came here.
K. E.
What a fantastic place if you love ale, so much choice to little time! Staff very knowledgeable about ale available, not just on tasting notes.
C. H.
Good example of a traditional city Pub, great selection of draft real ales, extensive selection of bottled beers, friendly staff, not pretentious or overpriced, it's a little gem!
P. L.
I think it's the manager who is keen on pub games and I enjoyed watching him introduce someone to a new game almost as much as I enjoyed the beer.
R. C.
Historical building, now offices so I doubt it is accessible to the public. I like the facade and it has retained a beautiful entrance hall. I was there to provide massage at a wellbeing day for Virgin Trains, who have offices in this building.
J. H.
Great little pub with an amazing selection of bottled beers. Bit pricey for some of the bottles but many are difficult to get a hold of.
N. T.
A great bar with real ales and wide selection of alcohol drinks. Small area for seating but has a great vibe and good history for its previous use.
N. S.
Nice cosy place, huge selection of bottled beers, plus a number of great real ciders and real ales on tap.
S. B.
One of my fav pubs the menu for your choice of drink is like an old fashioned phone book - huge! Always busy though so expect to stand
L. e. L.
That's the place worth visit. Historic location in post office vault. Great choice of ales. Pretty good selection of ciders which is not that common in Birmingham.
c. s.
Usually always busy which is a good sign. Quite a small public house so usually difficult to get a seat. As a none drinker I can't really comment on the selection of beverages.
J. C.
Great little place. Went in on a Sunday afternoon whilst it was nice and quiet. Unbelievable selection of beer and good staff.
A.
Gem of a place, hard to believe that such a small bar has such a range of beers and ciders. Decent range of Scotch whisky too.
L. D.
Boasting the largest range of bottled beer in Brum this place is a hidden gem for proper beer lovers. No food served but you can take your own.
D. M.
Nice cozy pub with excellent selection of real ales, doesn't serve food but you are allowed to bring your own. Can get quite crowded.
N.
You can proper beer geek out here with a quality selection of all beers. Nothing else about this place other than the beer and that's why you go here. Enjoy

W. D.
Fab pub. Great beer
S. H.
Awesome beer drinkers venue perhaps more skewed to Belgium tastes but enjoyed it's cosiness and welcoming beerstaff.
A. P.
Popped in for a quick pint. A fine selection of beers available in this cozy and rustic bar. Worth a visit.
j. e.
Good selection of beers and ales. Old fashioned. Mens toilets stink.
C. W.
Good selection of beers and ciders. Could do with refurbing. Not easy access for anyone with walking difficulties, lots of steps.
L. D.
Incredible selection on beers and relaxed atmosphere. Just can get a little crowded on a Friday or Saturday evening.
C. E.
Fantastic range of beers in a friendly, if somewhat deliberately old fashioned bar. I really liked it and will definitely be back.
T. M.
Great selection of all drinks. Great staff great place for one for the road before train home.
S. B.
Loved it nice friendly staff 🤗👍
R. S.
Hundreds of unique bottled beers and a good selection of ales on tap. Fantastic choice for those who love European beers.
a. P.
Great place to have a drink so many beers/ ciders available. The main down sides are the lack of seating available and it is quite pricey.
R. A.
A regular stopping point on a Saturday night when it's not too busy, it's very small for the business it gets.
Fine collection of bottled beers, over 350.
T. E.
One of the best beer selections in the city. No music, no TVs, just good drinks and space for a chat.
M. H.
My favourite bar in Birmingham
H. V.
A basic, basement bar on a hot sunny afternoon, serving a varied selection of fine cask ales. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Perfect!

J. H.
My favorite pub in Birmingham! It's under ground, smells of men and beer, doesn't play music, doesn't serve food. What more could you want!
M. P.
This is weird, if there's 25 people in it feels rammed, if there 10, it feels like it's dead and you need to go so where else. Great selection of beers.
Q. D.
Small little pub, never even knew it was there until a friend showed me. Was nice for a quick pint while on our way somewhere
