Reviews of Purecraft Bar & Kitchen
D.
A very nice and spacious interior. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beer was decent if on the expensive side. The food was a complete let down unfortunately. At the prices advertised I was expecting something special, but I was very disappointed with the texture and taste.
M. U.
Cold coffee anyone! Purity Brewing: Rixie Nitro Stout, 5.5%. This bar has something for everyone, unless you're a non-drinker and should stay indoors, drinking your filtered water. PureCraft = PureBrewing. Probably about 20 beers available here, so don't be greedy.....pace yourself!
J. B.
A pretty cool place, and just a short walk from Victoria Square. A good selection of beers with descriptions to help you select one you might fancy trying. Noticed that they didn't take cash. Although food was being served I didn't look at the menu but it appeared quite decent.
t.
Grade A food, seriously good beer and friendly service is on the menu here. I will for sure be coming back at some point. It's obvious that the attention to detail in there service is a focus here. The food is exceptionally well presented and equally as well seasoned. What a delight!
T. B.
Gets the combination of doing food and beer right. Make sure you get their pork scratchings, quality. Had just gone in for beers and scratchings but the food looked and smelled very good so shared a schnitzel and chips. It was top notch. Go in regularly for beers but will make sure I eat again. Service was excellent as well.
N. G.
Good craft beer pub. Food looked good. Bunny Hop was nice (hazy/juicy - 3.5%). Open & bright space. Staff friendly & attentive.
A. P.
Very enjoyable place. A wide rand of beers and the staff is very friendly. I recommend it, especially if you are a beer fan, but it might be a good choice if you like liquors and wines. There is a good variety of them as well.
D. D.
Brilliant for Sunday lunch! We all had roast beef and it was lovely. The service was brilliant and the atmosphere great - we will definitely book again for Sunday lunch - and maybe try one evening - great.
J. S.
Excellent beers and food. Steak frites was great and my colleague enjoyed his gammon. All food cooked to perfection. Service was was very good and very efficient. No nonsense eating out!
T. H.
Brilliant selection of beers. Helpful staff who listen to what you say and then let you try
Outside and inside seating. Would recommend for a beer or two!
D.
Very good ..plenty of cask and Keg selection ...enjoyed an excellent burger ..
I. E.
Visited here on our first foray back into Birmingham for about a year and a half.. This was our final call before returning to New Street Station to get our train back. What a place, one of those places where you walk in and think we should have come here earlier and its such a pity we have already eaten.. A good selection of ales mainly from Purity Brewing but other interesting beers too.. Unfortunately we only had time to try a couple of halves and some scratchings and Salted Almonds.. Beer and snacks were awesome and staff incredibly friendly. Menu looked good too. Time here all too brief as we had to head off to the train.. but we shall definitely be back here and spend more time.
R. W.
Great place in Birmingham to meet friends. Quieter than a lot of other places and lots of choice on real Ales and wines.
Food is good too!
N. P.
Good good choice of beers at excellent quality. They have added a seating area in the street outside, which is a nice improvement since my last, food is a little expensive if you're on a budget.......
b. d.
Always a great Sunday dinner. Purity gold was amazing. Nice and quiet for a Sunday chill. Food was spot on. Fish may have been a bit smaller than expected but still full of flavour. Really nice of the friendly team to let us take our bikes in whilst we dined.
C. O.
Good selection of beers, nice decor.
Would come back again.
L. F.
Love this place, amazing and helpful staff, great choices, lovely and warm inside, loved their sausage roll and the mustard, can't wait to try more from the menu, want to be there now.
L. O.
Great place for a few beers and a spot of lunch in a relaxed atmosphere
2021 update : still a relaxed place with great beer and quality food with some interesting menu options
I. K.
Quiet on a Sunday. The QR codes on the outside tables didn't work but we were able to order indoors no issues. Not a huge selection of soft drinks (too much on the fancy end for me). The chips were great which made up for the limited food selection (to be honest I went to Greggs, ate in the square then came back once I'd finished). Lovely wide open space indoors. Toilets were clean and friendly but I'd hurt my foot a while ago which made getting to them down the stairs a pain. Overall good experience. I dont drink so can't share thoughts on the beer.
T. S.
Good beer ,was busy, staff good
Opposite Birmingham town hall and Council House so is a little bit expensive, average £4,50 a pint but good value
J.
Nice bar with plenty of beer choices. They allow you in with trainers too, which a lot of bars around there didn't !!
D. S.
I visited this Birmingham City centre ale and eating bar on Wednesday 1st December 2021
This bloody great purity free house is a must to visit if wanting great real ales and a pleasant company to drink in
Spacious open plan pub East accessibility to the bar plenty of seating although it has a tendency to get full at eating times
Fresh prepared food open kitchen areas
Clean place 10 out of 10
N. P.
This is a really good place to eat and drink. If your in Birmingham and near the station please do go visit here. I had a BBQ pork burger and a chocolate parfait with peanut butter and banana ice cream. Both dishes were really, really good. The beer was knock out to. You won't be disappointed with place so check it out.

Been there on a friend’s recommendation but good thing is it never disappoint me. Tasty food, good beers, have big space for gathering, cool staff ad quiet atmosphere not much noisy. Worth yo visit there from London
D. F.
Love going to Purecraft! either for just drinks and snacks or their Fab food…..Staff are always lovely too. Always find something new to try for their selection of drinks and a great place to introduce friends or colleagues.
-Keep up the great work Purecraft!
G. G.
Quiet and peaceful lunch environment on a monday, clean toilets, friendly staff made the experience at this restaurant better! Ordered the burger together with the recommended dark beer and it was a match made in heaven! Highly recommend it!
D. B.
Nice vibe. Just Ubu cask ales tho..
s. s.
Lovely food, nice atmosphere. Would recommend. Staff were very busy but didn't feel rushed.
N. H.
Decent craft brewery taproom in Birmingham, good range of beers and nice fridge of other brews. Very good food, service was ok, a little intense at the start. Getting in the way not allowing us to peruse the extensive beer menu and fridge, but ok in the end. Fish and chips very good, cheese and chutney sandwich, and beetroot cheese salad also good for my wife.
L. B.
Nice place, good service. Good amount of choice for beer drinkers. Service was really good. We had a lovely time!
P. Q.
Great beer, decent enough vegan food, nice place, friendly staff but a bit pricey.
M. J.
Very good choice of beers. The food is presented perfectly, I need to go again soon.
R. N.
Great Beers at decent prices. Can get very busy at times but a firm favourite of mine.
M. R.
Always good service and a wide selection of beers and ales.
Staff are welcoming and on hand to assist.
C. B.
Nice spot for some great beer. Staff was friendly and they had a about 20 taps of a wide variety of beers. They do half pours too so you don't have to get drunk if you want to try 2 or 3!
M. a. A. B.
Very, very noisy early on a Saturday evening in December. I suppose that's to be expected. Service, beer and food all absolutely great
K. G.
Great beers and excellent atmosphere in this place. They even tell you what beers are vegan and gluten free 🙌 staff are slightly offish but perhaps that was just a one off. Didn't put me off and would definitely go again.
J. J.
I came for lunch and a couple of beers today and it was fantastic! The beer selection was great and the food really tasty, but the thing that made me leave this review was the excellent service provided by one of your staff. Couldn’t get his name, but he had black hair and a big, well kept beard. He asked me “what do you feel like drinking today?” and I think that’s just the right question: we all like different styles but what we feel like drinking at the time is the most important thing!
D. H.
Great place very good selection of beers/lager very welcoming
B.
Nice clean place to sit and have something to eat. Beer selection was excellent although we couldn't find anything on the food menu that we fancied so, just went with a portion of chips. They do great chips.
A. K.
Food is quite tasty although it tends to be on the greasy side. Drinks are great.
B. M.
Great food and an amazing selection of their own and worldwide craft beers
j. d.
Always great beer, great service and the location is perfect for city centre get togethers.
K. S.
Always a great place for Purecraft ales and craft beers. Love the interior and staff are always lovely
P.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great place to stop for a drink with nice outside booth areas for small groups. I also felt really safe inside thanks to friendly staff wearing masks and always a hand sanitiser pump in view. Will definitely return!
A. O.
Great beers good food. But far too noisy to eat a relaxing meal
J. B.
Fantastic food and a great selection of beers. Really chilled out..if you love places like brewdog then you would love it here
A. J. W.
Lunch time pint, venue was quiet, great service and variety of cask ales, the pint was great and would defo return again.
J. A.
Choice of beers is exceptional and Joe the barman is very knowledgeable and helpful when trying to choose.
J. H.
Great place for ale and Craft. Chicken is brilliant also
S. F.
Decent beers but lack of atmosphere
B. J.
Really excellent selection of own brewed beers and some guest kegs, cool knowledgeable staff (just don't ask for a coffee).
S. C.
Great craft/local beer, nice environment..
M. M.
Good selection of real ales. Gluten free food and beer available
R. P.
Great place to visit, drink and try the food. Nice burger. Yum. The beers are good as well.
m. b.
Great staff, great beer, great place. First time I have ever been. Won’t be last. Love it
G. D.
Nice place for craft beer, chilled out atmosphere, friendly staff.
Pandemic summer means there's loads of seating outside on the road. Currently walk-in no booking, took about an hour to get a seat in the sun on a busy Saturday afternoon.
D. W.
Expensive but well worth it. Great selection of ales and great staff
I.
Nice atmosphere and good selection of beers. Has covered outdoor seating now too.
K. S.
Lovely food as always. So good to be back here.
L. B.
Ticks all the hipster boxes! Lots of beers to choose from, including a healthy range of house brewers. Most of the Purity beers are vegan friendly, which is very handy.
V. N.
I highly recommend the buttermilk fried chicken burger. One of the best fried chicken burgers I've had in my life. Succulent, crispy, juicy, saucy, it was as if I died and went to buttermilk fried chicken burger heaven.
E. E.
Good selection of beer's, also great handmade pork scratching.
L. F.
Great location, with a nice view I good spot to enjoy an amazing pint. I recommend No. 11 Baby faced assassin from Roosters its a lovely hop fest. Enjoy...
Z. L.
Friendly service. Nice beer and awesome pork!
T. W.
Great selection of beer. Friendly staff and clientele.
d. s.
This venue has been open for several years but still feels different and good vibe. Beer selection is great, but the Purity beers are the ones to go for, had Longhorn in its special glass very nice. Took 2 guests and they were impressed with the industrial decor. Have eaten here may times and the food from the open kitchen is very good.
S.
This place is definitely different to other places. This is not your typical pub gathering. Drinks I've never heard off, all sorts of beer. More of an older generation kind of place who enjoy their drinks.
Great place, different but exceptionally good. Personally I don't like beer but from the vibe I got and the drinks on the menu it was good. If your a beer lover, you would want to try this place. I tried some tea that smelt like vinegar but tasted like sweet water.
E. A.
Nice place with good food, just a bit too loud and less alternatives for vegetarians..
C. B.
Only negative is you only take card payment. Old school prefer to pay cash and when they spent out they go home.
R. P.
The burgers were nice but a bit overpriced compared to similar venues. The lagers were decent but a lack of hop forward pales/IPAs on tap.
P. M.
Was only in here for less than 30mins. The general ambience of the place seemed to be good though.
A. S.
Nice posh restaurant, reasonably priced but not much choice in food or desserts - it was presented well and fast efficient service but the toilets were downstairs awkward with a lot of shopping, have to go with less baggage next time!!
S. S.
Great bar and loverly atmosphere and great ales.
Certainly worth a visit.
T. S.
Nice quirky bar with some interesting drink for selection. Nice and chilled atmosphere. Definitely worth a butchers!!!👍👍👍
W. G.
Great choice of real ale, excellent food and some funky modern art.
A. M.
Despite it being very busu due to the xmas markets, our reserved table was ready and food served very quickly... nice cod snd aven nicer steak.
J. D.
Decent beers, food is very pricey - eg a burger on its own £12.50. Then fries extra £4. Decent service
W. C.
Despite the corporate-ish feel from the outside & a clientele of mainly 'suits', this place has a friendly welcome, a huge list of quality beers, and a food menu that is absolutely spot on! Recommended if you're in the area.
S. W.
Small but it was a great chicken burger. The taster was good too and they have a great selection of beers
P. D.
Great outdoor set up, great beers. App is a mission to set up but works great once all the admin is done. (Updated post covid reopening)
A. P.
The fish finger sandwich that was order tasted okay but it had a fair amount of oil seeping through. If only the fish was allowed to be drained properly before being added to the sandwich.
Drinks choices are good and plentiful though. Fries are skin on and seasoned well.
J. R.
Love this bar. One of my favourite breweries and they do amazing scotch eggs, best I've ever tasted! Always reliable in the quality of both beer and food. Great bar, great beer, great food...whats not to like?!
M. K.
Best Pub/Bar meal I've had in a long time
Starters:
Hot & Spicy BBQ Chipolatas - Could've been more spicy....but while tasting that good and having them melt in your mouth, I didn't care.
Small Mac & Cheese - Tasted like cheese heaven, pasta was cooked just right too.
Main:
The Special Pork Burger - Wow, amazing, never thought I'd ever say this....but probably one of the best burgers I've had in ages....and I'm a huge beef fan. The burger itself was delicate and juicy and was topped with slow cooked pulled pork, all held together with a soft brioche bun....lovely, just lovely!
Chicken Kiev - Best Kiev I've tasted...granted most of them have been frozen, but what an experience to taste a freshly made Chicken Kiev. The chicken itself was a free range breast of chicken on the bone, covered in breadcrumbs and a "just the right amount" of garlic sauce stuffed inside.
The fries that accompanied the mains were extremely good....they were freshly cut (slightly thicker then the norm) with the skins on, crispy on the outside while maintaining extreme softness and taste on the inside. They tasted like the fries I've had in steak houses in the states.
Desert:
Bacchus Kriek Alaska - Basically their version of a Baked Alaska. We shared this as we were still full from our previous mountain of food....but we wish we had one each it was that good. Meringue was sticky and hot, while on the inside the biscuit was crunchy and the ice-cream cold and soft....perfect combination.
All the above dishes were excellent, arrived in good time and were hot, good portion size and most importantly were extremely tasty, the way all the flavours worked together...especially with the Special Pork Burger were brilliant, very flavoursome, it's nice to see a different choice of food on a menu instead of the norm.
Service was very friendly and efficient, couldn't fault the staff.
Came here first back in January for a drink as my friends and I love UBU and Longhorn, so what better place to come and try it....direct from the brewer themselves. The ale and the IPA were brilliant (as you'd expect) and the bar staff were very knowledgeable on the other beverages that they had....excellent bar service and variety of beers.
After my first visit I thought I'd come back and try the food....glad I did, truly brilliant.
Highly recommended this place for drinks, lunch and dinner. We will definitely be going back on a regular basis for food and drink.
J. B.
Great selection of beers and the bar snacks are fantastic.
S. D.
Really interesting place to eat! Busy and quiet lively but that's absolutely not a bad thing. Lovely, knowledgeable staff who are attentive but not over-bearing. Good menu choices and a incredibly wide range of beers on offer. Really clean and tidy place right off the main street; great for a relaxed and informal dinner.
G. M.
Purity ales in a relaxed and friendly environment. Sunday lunch is particularly great.
K. P.
Good place for a drink.. Their collection of beer is really good.
G. U.
Caught it before the evening rush. Will get back to standard I'm certain.
R. A.
Good food and beer at city centre prices
T. M.
Purecraft Bar & Kitchen in downtown Birmingham is a very stylish, upmarket "pub" close to the must-see Museum & Art Gallery. It is run by Purity Brewery, so expect their full range of real ales - plus many, many guest ales on top. Beer-range wise, this is one of the best places in Birmingham, and they're all very well kept - I sampled three ales, all in perfect condition. Of course, I didn't expect anything less from an establishment that charges you UKP 6 a pint - a premium outside of London. Also, the food, while very nicely presented, I found only a tad above average and a bit pricey, too. 17 quid for a modestly dimensioned Chicken Kiev, however well presented, is a bit much. The menu itself is nicely small-ish, which is usually a good sign. Typical modern British pub and grill options. The staff though were VERY welcoming indeed, and they let me sample every beer that caught my fancy, and not from a schnapps glass, which you'll normally get for tasters. The Purecraft Bar & Kitchen attracts a hipster-ish crowd, make no mistake about it. If you're fine with that - and the prices - do not hesitate to pay the place a visit. Great for real ale!
T. E.
Swanky craft beer bar with interesting food selection. Great selection of not only Pure Craft beers but also guest pilsners and porters.
S. A.
Great beer selection, top food
C. G.
Great beers, and modern interior. Food smelled good.
M.
Fantastic beers and great pork scratchings! Bar snacks are a little on the pricey side, but the quality of the beers more than make up for it! The Purity beers are the nicest but as the flagship beers you should expect them to be. Good times to go would be in the late evening and during the day over the weekend. Any time after work in midweek it's full of office workers.
D. G.
Good choice of ales and excellent side dishes. Didn't try the main courses but if the sides were anything to go by, they'd probably be good. Very quiet when we went in but it was a Tuesday afternoon at about 4 but we wanted somewhere quiet to chat, drink and nibble so it was ideal.
C. A.
Food was great, had the fish and chips but felt like i had to eat very slowly to not finish it well before the party i was in. Really well cooked though. It was on the expensive side for the portion size.
My friends order was taken wrong which meant we had the awkward just eat conversation whilst someone sat with no food.
This place has potential but need some tweaks to get anything more than a 3
L. S.
Full choice of Purity ales in a nice comfy atmosphere
P. I.
We booked the cellar for a very casual wedding reception for about 35 guests.
We were there from 12 pm to 11 pm! The service was amazing. The staff were lovely and served us and our guest to the best of their ability.
We could play our own very rock-centric music. We decorated the place to our liking. We even ordered loads of delicious beer tapas, which our guests were very complimentary of.
Everyone loved everything about our event. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere. Didn’t want to leave!
D. B.
Really nice quirky upmarket bar and restaurant. Food menu is not over the top, has some splendid choices and the flavours are brilliant. Compliments to the kitchen staff and chefs. Drinks are average prices. The bar itself is only a few minutes from the train station.
N. T.
Good bar, great selection of beers.. if you're coming here for soft drinks or cider this might not be the best place for you.
Came in for children's drinks and struggled to even get an orange juice.. lemonade was my option.
Beer choice is great, atmosphere is usually good as long as it's not empty!
G. G.
Excellent selection of beer and quality food to compliment it.
D. W. (.
A brilliant choice of excellent food, something for everyone. The environment is chilled and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience was the best and we felt safe during coronavirus, especially the chap with the ginger beard.
A. A.
Excellent beers on tap, mainly from Purity Brewery (whom own the establishment), with some guest brews on tap also. Found the prices to be slightly steep, but as expected for a craft beer bar/restaurant - you do not mind paying a little extra for this kind of quality.
Nice decor and vibe in the place also. Would definitely return.
G. E.
Beer can occasionally be a bit hit and miss but generally very good. Good atmosphere. Food choice is good if a little on the pricey side, but the quality is there. Nice for an after work pint and some proper pork scratchings.
M. M.
Beautiful place and the beers are great. I gave it 4 stars only because they are sorely missing some more veggie or vegan options. If you are looking for a burger and a beer though you can't go wrong here!
A. L.
Just a lovely place to drink and relax.
Nice atmosphere, lovely staff and the most delicious beer.
I just love everything about PureBar.
Quality beer to be savoured, drink slowly and appreciate the flavour. Perfect!
I enjoyed the food too👍
M. H.
Love this place, I can never resist a pint of Purity Long Horn here, unless Welsh Red makes a come back!
T. K.
Great beer and cider. I love the fit-out: stylishly minimalist.
C. A.
Definitely up there with the best beer-drinking establishments in Birmingham. Nice beer cocktails (according to my better half). Only downside - very few vegetarian or vegan options on the food menu - more would be nice. But can't mark down for this as it isn't what this place is about. Recommended - and the Oatmeal Stout is especially recommended.
L. R.
Great place to get a drink and they have a broad variety of drink on offer. There is a good amount of standing tables and seating to accommodate all. I've not tried the food personally but from what I saw it looked quite nice!
D. B.
Good selection of craft beers both from Purecraft and other breweries. We've been there on Sunday evening so it was quiet and nice. I imagine that when crowded, it can be quite hard to get drinks fast.
R. K.
Great bar and restaurant, tucked away in Birmingham city centre.
Very good beer choice, I had the Weissbier. Stayed for lunch and while I ordered the cheese sandwich, I was brought a ham one by mistake. I didn't query it with the staff and it was tasty so no major issue.
I'll be back and recommended
E. C.
Excellent food. Don’t miss out- order the scotch egg! Decent selection of beers on tap, which is what attracts most customers in the first place.
A. K.
Nice atmosphere and good Gluten free options for drinks
C. K.
Great bar with a big selection of beers and ales. There are usually one or two ciders available there too. Plenty of standing space but can even hard to get a table unless eating. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. Quirky and good food.
M. R.
Good service, nice beer. Food a bit pricey maybe. I had the burger which had too many things going on including pastrami and slaw of some sort, plus the bun was a bit burnt. Chips OK but not great. Seats unnecessarily uncomfortable but maybe that's on trend too.
I. D.
Great selection of beer, obviously, food also very tasty, nice surroundings. A bit pricey but to be expected for location/quality. A few too many after work suits for my liking but can't blame them! Recommended, but mainly for drinking real beer.
J. H.
This is my single favourite bar in the country. The beer is excellent (to be expected from Purity), the food is always amazing and the staff are lovely. The top bar can get a little overrun with braying suits but there is always space downstairs.
J. S.
Great place, little cellar bar downstairs a real hidden gym. Great selection of beers.
S. O.
Been there 3 times now and the beer is always on point and there is loads to choose from. Haven't had chance to try the food but it looks/smells great. The staff are very pleasant had a nice chat with one of the ladies on the lower bar.
J. N.
Fantastic service firstly! Choice of beer is extensive. Steak was excellent. Stylish decor. On a nice street about 5 mins from station which is handy.
I think they do food/beer tasting classes. I saw a poster for that when I was in there.
E. D.
Good spot to relax with friends on the street, take in the beautiful architecture and get table service by using the app. Friendly staff and a great spot..
R. H.
Huge selection of beers. The place to go if you want purity,s own beers how they should be.Industrial trendy style decor. Food isn't cheap but worth it, who wouldn't enjoy a fresh scotch egg with the yolk still hot and runny.
H. L.
Great outdoor options for seating. Good service and quality food.
I. H.
A good beer selection available, but not looked after particularly well. Lots of high ABV's, so narrowed the choice for me. The decor is the popular industrial model. I did not eat here but what i saw was promising. All said I would visit again to to ensure that ai am not judging to harshly.
S. M.
Enjoyed it, their own beers brewed on site... so don't expect a carling or a stella. Sat downstairs on a monday night so it was nice n quiet and warm too. Tried a couple of ales which like pretty much every craft beer tastes better with every sip. Cool place, bit of jazz, blues, a mix of music on the player. Bar staff were friendly. Would recommend this pub for sure.
M. S.
Excellent, 'quirky' bar with LOTS of good beers. All seemed well kept so guaranteed a good pint. chairs not very comfortable (like the wooden ones I used to have at school) but would recommend based on beer alone!
c. f.
Still pulls a crowd after a few years of being here. Concept is very simple great beer & even better food hence people keep coming back & the level of consistency is always present. In a competitive Birmingham market this place still excels.
M. L.
Lovely place with loads of great beers to taste. They even have a menu with a description for every beer which I found helpful. About the only not so great thing is that it is quite expensive. I still recommend if you're not on a budget though.
S. R.
Amazing food and great selection of casked and keged beers. Highly recommend the scotch egg. Friendly and helpful staff happy to banter. A little noisy when busy(went sat Eve), but not so much as to ruin a night. Amazing evening had, will be coming back again.
S. M.
Great atmosphere, feel and decor. A great selection of beer/lager as well as a selection of wines and spirits. Downstairs section is great to be booked out for groups. Food is nice and often served with a twist.
K. R.
The food is always good and the prices seem to be better suited than when they first opened. Simple pub food done extremely well with a touch of 'ale matching'. Friendly staff and great selection of ales.
My only criticism is that the canteen style doesn't seem to work as well as, say, wagamamas. It's not sure whether it's a restaurant that beer or a pub that does great food but there are different styles of seating and different areas to eat depending on your company
P. E.
Food was not what had been described to us on the phone. We'd expected a roast cauliflower steak as a Sunday lunch option, instead of the wellington, with veg, potatoes etc. But it was spiced Indian style & would not have worked. We had the cauliflower with the Indian accompnyments. Good but not really what we wanted. Nice space to eat in.
Service good. On the pricey side.eg small plate mac cheese £6.
P. d. B.
Really enjoyed a good selection of pale ales etc. Such a pity they don't have more stouts or ciders. Feel to draw on camra crowd bigger selection is needed. They have a short food menu. Great for meat eaters, tiny vegetarian selection and of you are vegan you need to be incredibly creative. They offer private party space. Rearrangment of furniture would mean more seats and still in line with fire compliance. It was packed on Friday night....
I. F.
Incredible atmosperevbeers and bar food.
P.
Great all rounder bar, after work drinks, weekend sessions or just casual pint. Massive beer selection and the food is top drawer pub grub. Highly recommend
D. H.
Christmas 🎄 set menu is delicious. Pumpkin soup and mushroom risotto is dreamy. Great atmosphere and the staff waited on us so well for a group of 22. It was manic there tonight and yet service was spot on. Thank you to all the staff on tonight. You did your employer proud. Will definitely be back again soon!
S. B.
Good beer, like mega looked after beer for those who know the trade well ;) you can even peep in the cellar if you ask nicely...
Came here for my birthday which was my 5th visit over 3 years and very much enjoyed it! Mega thanks to the team and hoped you enjoyed the retro cake!
S. R.
Lovely chilled out place. Good food, drink and a solid draught beer selection numbering 20 or so. Wine and spirits drinkers are looked after too including some excellent cocktails with a subtle beery twist.
For beer mad bozo's like me it would be nice to see a bit more change in the draught beer menu in the course of a month or so, but that said there is a big fridge full of cans and bottles too.
J. W.
Beer not as good as expected and a bit expensive
D. R.
Superb selection of beers, Great cask lines as well as keg. Lots of Ubu beers to work through. Didn't order food, which was a shame becuase the smells coming from the big green egg were very tempting. Highly rccomended pub.
S. L.
Simple but stylish decor. Great selection of beers in the bar. The food menu is short and simple, but executed very well - I haven't had a bad dish there. The only problem is that the crowd in the bar can occasionally turn into a bit of a sausage party.
A. W.
Enormous and ever-changing selection of craft beers and cask ales, and some of the best bar snacks in the Midlands. The pork scratching are epic. High-end prices. Excellent pork pies.
A. P.
The fellas at Purity brewery know how to run a business. Their own ale selection is fantastic and their pure bar offers numerous other great beers and ciders etc. Food is also sublime. Best burger going.
L. d. A.
Excellent food, very fresh and all cooked from scratch. You can see how clean the kitchen is! Friendly staff and a really outstanding election of beers.
F. A.
A good place to have beers. There's a good selection of beers here with casual seating which could be a good option for catch up with colleagues and friends. Pricewise, I found it reasonable. It has 5 mins walking distance to the train station.
V. J. H.
Great service, friendly staff & huge selection of yumm Ales & beers etc. Want to go back and try out the great food menu!
m. L.
Excellent beer selection and really good food. The scotch eggs and the mac & cheese were particularly good. Also love the scratchings and pork pies they sell as bar snacks.
M. P.
This is the best pub we found in Birmingham and my husband and I are from San Diego, CA. They had a great selection of beer and all of them were delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you're here from out of town!
T. S.
20+ craft ales on tap and an innumerate amount of bottled ales available. Quite pricey as real ale bars are turning pretentious to jump on the proverbial band wagon. Nicely situated away from the main road so not too busy (it's a Saturday afternoon with the German Market in full swing and we managed to get a seat). Not tried the food but it's supposed to be quite nice.
J. M.
Lovely bar. Great menu with a range to suit all tastes and requirements
O. E.
My absolute favourite haunt in Birmingham. They consistently deliver fantastic food, in the form of excellent small plates and bar snacks in addition to fabulous main dishes and undoubtedly the best roast in Birmingham (often with a bit of modern flair). Wide selection of superb beer and the lovely staff and atmosphere just tops it off.
I. M.
Really nice beer, good service but disappointing vegetarian selection of food. The lentil and cauliflower curry I had was extremely nice but it's a good job because that was the only option
T. E.
Great beer selection almost hard to pick. Very clean and presentable wish there where some more seating.
N. C.
Amazing burger and the chicken Kiev went down well too. Beer obviously top notch and nice to have a decent variety. Open kitchen was busy and there's a downstairs bar too if it's busy.
S. P.
What you want in a city centre pub really. Great quality beer, cracking food - simple traditional pub fair nailed. Even the bar snacks are top rate.
First rate addition to the Birmingham pub scene, and long may it last.
D. L.
Great bar, great food, let down by its popularity sometimes which means it can be difficult to get to the bar and feels like it could use a few more staff during busy times. Great beer selection and the scotch eggs are some of the best in Brum.
R. D.
Nice modern bar and eatery. Terrific beer selection, respectable food and overall laid-back and comfortable vibe. Good service too. Well worth a visit.
M. W.
We had a beer tasting event which was really enjoyable. Sam, whose title is Head of Beer, provided a wide variety of beers to try and provided information about each and brewing in general. I recommend it for a group gathering
M. L.
Great beers from Purity brewery. Good outdoor seating.
C. W.
Great beer - top quality food but if your a veggie stay clear. The veggie main is a disappointing for the price - cauliflower cheese tart with a watery white cheeseless sauce
S. W.
Decent pub with good selection of craft beers. Beware that when German market is on this place fills with drunk wives trying to chat up guys keeping to themselves. The wives have drunk husbands in tow.
A. S.
Not the place to go for an intimate night out, but just the job for an after work drink. The food menu, for mains at least, is limited. But what we chose was really well prepared. The real draw is the beer menu, and this was extensive and well-curated. But that's not all; my wife enjoyed a really tasty English sparkling wine and the other female amongst us enjoyed a fullsome red. There is something for everyone here.
S. S.
Good beers. Great place to have drinks and catch up with friends on a Saturday night. Not too loud and great atmosphere for conversation.
S. M.
Good food good beer
O. W.
My favourite Bar / Restaurant in Birmingham - I often bring colleagues and clients here - the food is very very good with a choice of main meals, bar snacks (the scratchings are amazing) and Tapas type dishes. Also, great for a few drinks as they have the most comprehensive beer / ale menu in Brum, all described to help you decide. Set up half restaurant / half bar and equally comfortable in both...
A.
Great atmosphere. Great selection of beers (and a couple of good ciders). Food was good but a little expensive. Wouldn't put me off eating there again.
S. S.
First visit, fab food and service
R. H.
Good selection of quality beers. Although we didn't eat the food did look very good. Attracts a more trendy crowd.
C. D.
When the only thing I can criticise is the signs for the toilets it's got to be good. I hate places that have trendy signs rather than clear signs for the ladies and gents... "Hops is better" or "Malt is great" does not tell me which door is right. My advice - look at the doors for the small M/F.
J. M.
Great beer and food plus the possibility of having all gluten free. Best gluten free beer i've ever tryed. Excellent service.
K. T.
Absolutely fantastic selection of beers! Table service as well, and the Communal tables add to the atmosphere: Its good to Talk! (And drink!! 😁).
l. w.
Top notch beer selection, ales and craft beers. All beers are served in excellent condition. A good selection of Purity's own beers and guests. They've had a number of beers on from Roosters, one of my favourite breweries.
G. U.
Some of the beers are decent, however price on food is ridiculous. Go across the road for a pie!
D. P.
Casual dining in the city centre. Food was good and good selection of craft beers. Service was a bit slow but servers were very helpful and apologetic with regard to some confusion in the kitchen with our order.
F. J.
Come here often as it was just across the road from my office. Even now that our office is moved most of us still prefer to walk across town to come back here. The beer selection is amazing and the nibbles are very good.
r. r.
Superb food, friendly staff, excellent service, excellent choice of beers. Will definitely be coming back.
T. B.
Just love Purity beers, I rate their ethics and approach to brewing. Longhorn is just a wonderful beer. Good at this place is good too and the staff are attentive and helpful.
C. R.
Delicious food, great beer selection and really friendly attentive staff. I love going here!
C. H.
Great selection of craft beers and cider (I particularly recommend the cider ☺️). Located centrally, 5 mins from the station and around many other bars and restaurants. Whilst not sampled, the food did look good as well
D. B.
Good selection of drinks. Pretty good function area I'm basement. Don't like big red pipe that takes up half the bar nor stem less wine glasses.
M. T.
Not happy with the paying arrangements, which I understand because of Covid, but it just spoils the enjoyment of a drink.
S. J.
Very expensive beers but of a high quality so worth it, open plan kitchen so watch the chef cook your lunch, very smart but simple place.
L. B.
I really wanted to love this bar and for a short while I did. Problem is there are many far far better bars out there. Lots of beers doesn't mean great beers. The beers are... ok. They are just not great.
M. M.
Great beer selection, staff excellent. Only slight gripe is that the menu is a bit limited but could not fault the quality.
A. D.
Great variety of craft beers and is normally a bit quieter than other places in the area as nobody seems to know about it which means you can normally get a seat and table
R. G.
Serving some of the best beer, sourdough and crowd in the area. No babies, but actually very baby and child friendly (loads of space in the day).
H. G.
Great beer selection and tasty food, great atmosphere too
T. A. (.
Chill place in the centre of Birmingham. Wide selection of craft beers. Some light food options. Not too pricey. Staff also great.
J. A.
Fantastic beer and bar snacks the ipa that is infused with grapefruit is great and the lawless as well awesome . Manager even took time out for a chat
G. W.
Good selection of beers well described on chalk boards but understaffed. Went as part of a very large group so took a long time to get served.
t. c.
Always good beer not all on Purity range. And food. Service good. Not cheap but I would say mid range for place it is. Try it you can always go elsewhere!
J. T.
An amazing range of ales on pump and in bottles. Purity is one of my favourite breweries, but this pub loses a star for wanting £2.50 for a pickled egg.
T. M.
Great atmosphere, lovely food, a large selection of beers and the staff were friendly and attentive. The prices are very reasonable.
T. B.
You won't find a better scotch egg than here, it's another level. Beautifully seasoned coating, served warm with a semi runny centre. Perfect. The ultimate bar snack.
A. H.
Beer lovers dream, my number one bar in Birmingham, didn't eat but saw the food being served up and looked really good.
B. W.
Great pub like atmosphere with an amazing range of beer and a small good selection of ciders. The food was incredible, restaurant quality meets great social atmosphere.
K. D.
Great food, excellent beer and very friendly staff.
K. J.
Great choice of beers and knowledgeable staff. Beer samples available before buying. Interesting decor but could do with more places to sit.
T. B.
Brilliant selection of beers. Tasteful food! Great place.
K. J.
Great food and has an excellent selection of beers/ales to try. Often gets busy very busy but there is plenty of room inside so not a problem on most occasions.
J. G.
Good selection of beers, including their own (purity - which are reasonably priced for the location) and the food is good. It is on the pricey side so don't expect a cheap evening. The decor divides opinion.
M. H.
A real ale success story from the Midlands. Some excellent own ales alongside guest beers. Food looked great but we were only there for the liquid.
A. L.
Great for after work pint
J. C.
Great inside, good beer.
Slightly let down with fish and chips. It came in a plastic red basket which was poorly presented and fish was underdone.
Other family meals were great and would come back.
M. J.
Good location and really good beer selection without being pretentious. Needs more seating but overall a great place.
A. M. S.
Great pie and a pint. Only in england sat out in the driving rain. Was under cover and laughed at the situation.
a. d.
Really great pub, obviously has Purity Ale, but nice to see it has a massive range of Craft beer too. Have not eaten here but the food looked amazing
I. G.
Always a good selection of real ales. Great atmosphere. Food looks amazing but not yet tried it.
A. T.
Good marks just for the beer selection. Didn't get chance to eat but looked very nice. About 25 plus draft ales and lagers something for all tastes
M. F.
Good beer but expensive. e.g. £5.30 for a pint of Longhorn IPA.
Good for occasional visit on a trip out to Brum though. Food good too.
P. B.
Good beers, great staff who looked after us well.
M. D.
Some great beers but really pricey!
R. R.
Excellent selection of beers gives this a 5 star review. Little bit expensive but worth it for quality of beer.
G. S.
Ace selection of beers and good grub as well. Only downfall is that it can feel quite clinical when there are not many customers in, needs the atmosphere to pick up a certain times of the week.
P. H.
Brilliant regional brewer with loads of great cask and bottled options in centre of Birmingham. Perfect to wash down quality pub snacks and food with modern twists.
E. P.
Good selection of beer. Food can be a little hit and miss. No signs to advertise but also dog friendly.
D. T.
Fabulous place not just to sample the high quality craft beers from the Purity Brewery but complimented by a superb menu plus a vast selection of beers from all over.
M. J.
Excellent food. Great atmosphere and choice of beers
D. S.
Loads of ales to choose from for all tastes. Stopped for a fish & chips and a burger...really nice. Not too busy, room downstairs. Defo worth a visit.
B. W.
Good beer, excellent food, friendly staff in a trendy place.
g. b.
Good food but overpriced for what it is
H. J.
Brilliant, had great food and company of friends, service was woderful
D. M.
Great beer but it's a bit too design-ery for me. It feels a bit soulless... I think it's much better from groups but that's purely personal taste.
M. L.
Great place to sit down for a small bite and drink. You have to have the pork pies! They do meals which are nice too.
L. B.
Brilliant pub. Great food and an amazing selection of beers. Just a good layed back atmosphere
S. W.
Great craft beer and ales, guest and brewery. Has ok bar snack food but not really meals. Great place to meet for a couple of cheeky pints
J. O.
Great Bar for a drink and some food. Very spacious interiors with friendly staff.
P. F. O.
Ouu... The beer in this place is somethin' amazin'. Great place to spend some time with friends and to drink some good ale or lager or another type beer. There is a lot to choose from...
S. S.
Best beers in Brum? Probably
Best scotch eggs in Brum? Absolutely
Best Restaurant Adams Pop-Up in Brum? Damn Right!
Best staff? They're up there with them.
Just go. It's awesome.
T. M.
Not bad, small menu, bit pricey for food, but a great place for beer
K. M.
Great food but a very static beer selection, could be improved immensely if they'd only rotate their taps more.
R. B.
Excellent bar with a quality selection of beers and top notch food. Definitely worth a visit.
J. P.
Unique place, large open floor with lots of wood and industrial fittings. Wide range of drinks from a variety of brewers and great atmosphere.
J. M.
Consistently quality. Absolutely banging Sunday lunch, great beer selection, and good customer service. One of my go-to places in the city.
F. B.
Good selection of beer . Nice atmosphere did t try the food
G. R.
Good range of beers, and a nice bolthole that's a great way to hide from the throngs elsewhere on a Friday or Saturday night
T. L.
Purity beer, large selection and decent quality. Good food as well. Both for full meal or hot bar snacks
N. T.
A great bar with over 15 beers, local and around the world. Good atmosphere and environment for a drink with your partner or mates. Food is also available
M. W.
Food good if a little pricey. Beer is good but it's a pity Purity don't keep their real ales as well as the Wellington does!
W. H.
Loads of great beer, but at a price. Food is good, too.
n. b.
Good Choice of beers, food was lovely but quiet high in price....
M. M.
Came here for a 10 year catch up with some uni friends, great food, and obviously great beers! I'm a huge purity fan, and they did not disappoint!
W. G.
Amazing staff, delicious food and great selection of food with a big menu of craft beer. Highly recommended.
L. C.
Fish and chips was disappointing. Batter was nicely done, but fish itself was cheap and frozen. Dressed up well, but you need to improve the quality of fish.
D. D.
Great selection of beers.. popped in for a few before a concert.. lively place and nice vibe... recommend.
B. V.
Great selection of beers, nice food, good ambience and in a really nice bit of Birmingham
T. C.
Great beer, modern city centre venue. Pricey for other craft beer in the area.
B. W.
Great beer and friendly staff. One of the best bars in town.
L. E.
Ok bar. Staff could be more cheery. £6 a pint a bit steep, maybe that’s why it was only half full on a Saturday early evening
A. D.
Wow what a great bar , this place was recommended to me by a friend and I wasn't disappointed , great selection of beers and friendly efficient staff , highly recommended .
N. H.
Consistently good food and great selection of beers - just wished they mixed the beer menu up a bit more often
J. G.
Nice beer selection, good food, and friendly staff.

m. r.
Great place, good atmosphere. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer
T. A.
Busy, went there for a couple of drinks but loved that they have sweet german style beer on tap which is very hard to find around here!
s. r.
Looks fancy from the outside but it's not. Very spacious inside. OK for a quick drink but not worth staying in for long. Staff were very polite.
J. T.
Fantastic beer selection, didn't eat but looked good... Probably better to eat around lunch
R. G.
Beers don't really rotate that often, food is really good. Pricier than alternatives nearby.
