Popped in here for breakfast today (Sunday). We were greeted by a lovey waitress Stacey And shown to a table. We asked for decaf lattes or decaf tea. I sure what they had Stacey went to check and soon returned to advise only decaf instant was available. However Stacey made 2 very acceptable lattes. If fact they were that good we had 2 more 😀 Our breakfast order was taken, including Mushroom’s which come as any side order and have to cooked to order. We had a child with us that loves a sausage sandwich, not on the menu but again Stacey arranged for his favourite sarnie to be made. A few minutes later we were advised that it was ready for us at the carvery station. Off we went to fill our plates with freshly cooked sausages, bacon, hash browns and tomatoes. There was also fried bread, beans, breakfast pizza and crispy pork scratchings. Stacey offers to help carry out food to our table. She really is a gem, so friendly, polite, helpful and attentive. We ate our breakfast and could not find fault with anything. Delicious 😋 All in all we’d go back tomorrow if we lived near enough but we’ll definitely call in again when we are in the area.

we came for a family dinner for the first time, not local to Birmingham and we found the service to be amazing from booking the table to finishing the meal. all the staff were so friendly and helpful, a special mention to Jacqui (sorry for the spelling if wrong) Alex and Stacey, for specially looking after us & for making the experience really enjoyable, got real family vibes. food was also delicious, portion sizes for the kids were great & the Carvery was amazing (also mention to the chefs at the Carvery who were also very friendly and funny but we didn't catch their names) will definitely visit again next time we get together :)

Had dinner here with friends and can only say nice things about this place. The food has definitely improved and the staff are very polite I was served by Jackie on the bar who was lovely and Alex and Olivia served us our food which was delicious my favourite was my pudding. Had a fantastic evening here for my nephew 19th birthday with just family, had the back room so was comfortable to laugh and spend time together to celebrate him, food was served promptly and everyone had different meals and all thoroughly enjoyed them no complaints, guy who served us was so accommodating and friendly so would like to thank him personally for making our evening that little more special (sorry didn't get your name). We took pizza home that the kids couldn't eat all of which was great. Would definitely return and recommended to people it's such a beautiful building and beer garden

Visited here for my birthday, had a problem with the app order, however, after clarifying with the staff this was rectified. We ordered a spirit on the app it did not come as ordered, however, again before they wasted the drink they came back and asked what mixer we wanted, they were pleasant polite although, they were very busy, will go again.

Recently revisited this place for a carvery and I have to say the standards have gone way up since a few years ago. Nothing was dry and everything tasted much fresher and cleaner than before. Our server Stacey was very polite and she was respectful with us. Hats off to all the staff for bringing up the standards.

very nice place. housed in the old Sheldon hall a historical home. good wheelchair access and ample parking. nice outdoor seating. in side the the restaurant and part is houses in the old library. You can still see the beams from he original house. There is also a cosy bar area. The toilet area is clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. it's a carvery and pizza place. The food is lovely and they don't skimp on the meat like some places. The puddings are nice as well. choice of sauces and gravy. clean. A place worth going to. we housed a dog show there 17th October 2021. We had the grounds for free they sold raffle tickets gave us a donation for the charity gift card bottle of wine and collection boxes. The staff were wonderful. Cant thank them enough the show was for the Eden suite at Heartland hospital Birmingham. where my sleeping Granddaughter Ruby was born. we raised £806.51. The venue was idilic and so accommodating. The food was really good even though they were so busy. A big thank you to kris Sarah and Rowland for all the help. would recommend the place. great place staff friendly and the food is really good..would recommend this place

I was trying to find a way to justify my average rating privately to the owner of Sheldon Hall but I don't seem to be able too. The reason for average rating.. I have attended Sheldon Hall twice now in the last month, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times, I have never have an exceptional visit nor have I left thinking I'd love to go back. The carvery at Sheldon Hall is very nice but unfortunately I found it quite dry and it was difficult to enjoy with what I thought were vegetables partly undercooked. The claw machine is very amusing though especially as every time you play you win something which makes you feel like a champion everytime. Unfortunately, for me at least the food let the meal down and I think attending for an afternoon drink in future is what I will be heading there for. The desserts on the other hand - Are very nice and are easily highly rateable.

It is a nice and good place to take your Sunday Carvery of pork, beef, Turkey or chicken. Good beer and nice view. Free parking, 200 MTR from the main street. Not the best place for kids but for friends it is a good place for a beer.

We visited here late Wednesday afternoon and we wasn't disappointed. The place was very busy, we was informed of a short wait however the food came quicker than expected. It was delicious and piping hot. The older lady on the bar was lovely and Sarah, God love her was rushed off her feet tending to all sorts of requests and issues whilst seating several people at the same time. She still found the time to have a wee chat and to inform us on the history of the building and of a 50% offer which saved us over £14 on our bill. We can't wait to come back.

had a family meal here friday night and i must say the service was fantastic alex was very polite and helpful i am rather fussy with my food but the chefs went above and beyond for me and made my food exactly how i like. i will definitely be returning here as the staff food and atmosphere are all amazing we really enjoyed our visit here

First visit to Sheldon Hall, despite living in the area for many years, and it was great. Family party which included our 89 year old mother and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We had requested a table close to the door and it was perfect. The staff were excellent, both Molly and Chris made us feel welcomed and make it likely that we will return. There is a large choice of food which arrived quickly and was a good standard. Both food and drinks are excellent value for money. I have hesitation in recommending Sheldon Hall if you are considering trying it out.

Used to be a great carvery... And some staff are still working hard to maintain the standards. But since the manager has left, seems to have gone downhill. Hopefully it was a one-off & we will keep testing the waters until we agree its either improved or not.. As for a drinking establishment, run of the mill with regular drinks to offer on tap & no speciality ales etc... Overall a cheap & cheerful place to grab a quick lunch.

Lovely experience eating here. All covid restrictions were stuck by and everything has been adapted to suit the restrictions and to make things run as smoothly and simply as possible. We requested a table in a quiet area and this was done, exceeding our expectations. Food was lovely and staff were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. A wasp landed on my leg due to the window being open next to the table we were sat at. Our host, Jamie, did not hesitate to remove the wasp from my leg and safely remove it from the table.

Visited on Sunday the 25th for a carvery with the family around 4pm and we wasn't disappointed. Although it wasn't majorly busy I think it was more a case of several turning up at the same time which did leave a little queue for the carvery. However, everything was fresh, the meat was tender and the gravy was delicious. Everyone was working really hard! Given the heat and all the recent changes, hats off to all the staff. There were some miserable buggers in the place and well there's no pleasing Everyone. It's a shame more people aren't quick enough to praise but will jump to complain at the first opportunity. I've been in the trade and I don't miss it one bit! Jamie, Sarah and the young waitresses are a credit to the team. We can't wait to come back.

Ordered a carvery and was prompted by a member of staff when I was allowed to go up (due to Pandemic everything is table service and they are trying to minimise people at the carving deck). Fresh food and fairly quick service. Carver plated up a nice portion and then a staff member took it to the table. Felt very safe inside. Tables nicely spaced out for social distancing.

Went for a carvery and food was fine and staff friendly. The issue I now have is you have to pick what food you want on a piece of paper. I like to pick my roasters and stuffing and also what amounts I want. When the carver did it before it was fine, can’t see why it had to change. Won’t be returning until it changes.

We have visited many times and always left happy. Myself and 2 friends arrived on a day when the 50% discount was on. We had not booked but the kind gentleman found us a table. Food ordered but was advised burgers and pizzas are not on the 50%. So full price was required. On the starters and the main meals I noticed a massive portion reduction. Also due to the pub being very busy food was luke warm (not good ). Is this a change in the chef or is it because it was a 50% day. Following the poor response extremely different to a positive review Obviously No interest in my concerns

Really nice location, lots of seating options and very friendly staff, lots of choice on the menu and deals. There are different seated areas and good for a quite meal. Lots of drinks on offer, the food is pub food, but is fresh and always seems very clean inside. Only been there a few times and well worth a drink in there. They could update the style but it works. The building is a large manor house, great parking and easy to find. Management seem friendly and helpful.

Carvery was OK. Vegetable need to be turned more often to stop them drying out. Vegetarian roast is just a plate of vegetable s nothing else. Watch the app not the same as the menu.

Fantastic carvery. Very friendly. I am a care worker and the manager, Mike, and the whole team always go out of there way to make my clients happy and comfortable. The turnaround at this Carvery is amazing. It has gone from an avarage restaurant to a great restaurant since the new manager took over.

Only my second visit here. Both unfortunately for a funeral wake. Great food and great staff/service on both visits. Current social distancing conditions worked well with the table service. Will try a carvery when conditions allow.

New management are really turning this pub around. When we visited for a group breakfast they accommodated all 15 of us and even gave us our own room! The food was great and the price was good, and when we had finished the manager made timeto speak to us personally. He now has lots of things going on like Murder Mystery nights, and Discos to name but a few. Well worth a visit.

Food is hit and miss to be honest. It is often very good; fresh, hot and well prepared. Other days it isn't so good. Service was quite slow also today, just one lad serving. Staff were very pleasant. Update Jul 2019. Went for a breakfast - great all-you-can-eat fry-up for less than a fiver (plus drinks. And for some reason mushrooms are extra). Was very quiet again when we went but the food was very good, and again the staff were helpful and pleasant. My only niggle is the conveyor toaster couldn't toast between under-done (1st pass) and cremated (2nd pass). It was quite hot inside. Some fans might help.

1st time having breakfast here and was served by a friendly dood called Mike. I asked about vegan sausages and he went above and beyond what I would have expected and told me all the vegan options they do. Even down to the veg on the carvery! When finished our meals Mike came over to ask how it was but then mentioned all of the charity gigs they do. I'm definitely coming back here! Also I was served drinks by a lady I think was called Donna who was very friendly and professional For its location I wasn't expecting this level of care and the knowledge of the product from Mike was amazing! Well done sheldon hall team as the food was also on point and as a vegan it's usually an after thought but seemed like the time was put into it.

The new management here are just what the place needed! Food and service here for years have been terrible. Tonight. My husband and I came here for drinks and a bite to eat.... they had no pizza dough, this was only told to us 10 mins after we had paid and ordered. The new management here are amazing! Came to our table, admitted fault and told us all about how the are trying to turn the place around! Let’s hope they stay for a while because they are great people and even better landlords! We will definitely be back again now we know how good and hard working the management are!!

Staff was amazing. Food was great. Such a vast amount of food options, very accommodating too. My son who is ADHD and autistic was having a meltdown and they staff was making him smile and wasnt making a issue with his behaviour like other pubs have done with him in the past. We changed the time we was going down as we had a table reserved and this wasnt a issue, cant recommend these guys enough. The staff was so professional and very helpful. There was problems with our booking ( phoned booked but not taken down ) however this issue was sorted promptly. One of the waitresses was really help full and great customer service gave her a tip because she was all for the customer. Long wait on the carvery but other then that it was okay all round. Lovely building and the refurbishment looks fresh and very clean. Small salad bar but all fresh... the carvery meat was excellent but unfortunately all the veg and mash were cold we sent it all back. The sauces and gravey had skins on the top and the peas were dried up. Staff were very polite .

I visit here every month with some work friends. We have a disabled friend with us. The last 2 times we have been the disabled toilet lock is broken i did point this out to a male waiter last month. Today i pointed out to a female waitress, who said she didn't know it was broken and that she would sort it out. Otherwise a nice meeting place and easy to get to for us all. Most times the food is fine

It's such a beautiful location. Its a shame the service is so slow and that they have 4 ale pumps but sell no ale at all (John Smiths isn't real). Still I'll probably go again because of the building, they could make SO MUCH of this place and make the history more of a feature.

The pudding though is great! This place is more for the locals.

A carvery for years, a rebranding to Stonehouse adds a dedicated pizza oven. Still great value, in fact the carvery offers food that can be as good as some 'gastropubs'. Pizzas are good too. You'd be hard pressed to find much wrong wth what is on offer, at the prices charged. Staff are excellent and there is plenty of room for families and large groups
