Reviews of The Colmore
S. B.
Amazing pub in a beautifully restored location!
Great cask offerings (Jaipur anyone), plenty of keg lines and a good range of wines and spirits
Pizza is lovely, can highly recommend the four cheese
Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful
Grateful to the team for reserving us a space for our group on the Saturday as well, very much appreciated
Will definitely be back for more visits in the future
I. A.
Elevated pub/bar, classic interior design, some original features were well preserved , spacious and clean … atmosphere and service are exceptional. Downstairs there is a pool table, we haven’t tried but pizza is served from an o en and it looked delicious.
B. N.
Great beers on tap.
Someone knows there draft here.
Great atmosphere and decor.
Probably the busiest after work pub in Brum.
I. G.
Fantastic venue! Tastefully decorated, with a warm atmosphere! The staff are always so welcoming, always ready to answer questions and take me through the beers! Will definitely be visiting again!
M. T.
Lovely decor, tastefully decorated and quiet understated atmosphere. Fantastic range of different beers, knowledgable and polite staff. Although they only sell Pizza the one I had was great. Best pizza dough I have tasted ( that had beer in it too!) Would definitely recommend as a venue for a ‘getting to know you’ date. No loud music and unusually for a Birmingham pub you can actually hear yourself think and your companion speak. Highly recommended!
J. W.
Really friendly staff, this is a welcoming place to visit and has a comfortable environment. Excellent range of beer, mostly from Thornbridge, and all well kept. Food options are pizzas and these are good too. A very lovely pub!
M. U.
What a fantastic choice of Thornbridge ales. I think they had every single one on tap (except the Brother Rabbit that ran out mid pull) Settled for Titanic Plum Porter and Thornbridge Numa winter ale!
S. O.
Expensive but delicious beer. Relaxed atmosphere where groups tend to stick to themselves. Not very social with other customers at the bar, but staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. My round in here was cheaper than an equivalent one in the Old Joint Stock.

The Colmore is my favourite pub in Birmingham. When you look at it from the outside it's very easy to make assumptions about what kind of venue it will be - it's such a beautifully presented space that the obvious assumption is that it will be pretentious and uncomfortable.
This couldn't be further from the truth. The atmosphere is friendly and casual, with genuinely the warmest, friendliest staff of any pub I've been to in central Birmingham - or honestly even significantly further afield. The range of beer is also amazing - it's flexible enough that you always know you'll have something different each time, but consistent enough that you always know whatever you have will be amazing.
The Colmore is my favourite pub in Birmingham, and while I go there less frequently than I'd like I can't recommend it highly enough.

absolutely stunning place to relax, and unwind after a long day at work. even at its busiest i would not go anywhere else as i always feel welcome and valued as a customer
incredible choice of craft beer and lush food!

Very good Thornbridge Brewery pub near Birmingham New Street Station. 7 cask beers on handpump when I visited including a porter. Not too busy a couple of hours before a game at Villa Park.

Lovely pub. Great selection of drinks and wonderful staff. Will be going again very soon!
s.
outstanding pub... so nice and central, and yet relatively quiet with great beers and a pool table
M. K.
Brand new addition to the city centre, it's a great pub, the pizza is good.
Every time I visit the toilets downstairs, the floor is flooded and tonight was worse than normal as someone finished off the broken tap. Staff were busy with the mops and therefore we left.
J. W.
Wonderful interior, very palatial and comfortable with separate smaller areas of tables and chairs / sofas - ideal for a group. Excellent range of the Thornbridge real ales, plus around 15 genuine imported lager beers from Czech and German brewers (NOT the brewed under license rubbish!!) Prices typical of Birmingham City centre but worth the extra! Highly recommended. Knowledgable and friendly staff keen to offer help and advice on the beers.
I. L.
Constant stream of quality beers on rotation, super warm and friendly staff, great pizzas. Best pub in Brum.
O. Q.
Two 12" pizzas for £12 all day, every day! What a bargain. The pizzas are really tasty too. The dough is made with Thornbridge Jaipur beer.
Lots of beers to choose from!
J. O.
Absolutely one of the nicest places I've ever gone for a drink. Great crowd ranging from football fans to post work drinks.
M. S.
Fantastic place with even better beers. Finally Birmingham gets a Thornbridge pub... highly recommended!!!
L. S.
Very good prices for gin and tonic in Birmingham City centre. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff!
M. R.
Attractive bar, excellent beer and pizza. Friendly and helpful staff.
C. O.
Good beer, good pizza, friendly bar staff and nice atmosphere.
S. L.
Great beers, both those that are on all the time and the constantly changing list of guests. You'd expect that from Thornbridge of course! It's comfortable, friendly, central, and the staff are lovely. Best pub around.
o.
Had a fantastic time here, the beer selection and quality is brilliant, which is what you expect from Thornbridge. The place itself looks amazing and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. They have a pizza menu available which I'd love to try next time.
T. B.
Excellent location, very cool building and interior. Thornbridge pub so quality selection of beer both cask and keg which is becoming increasingly rare, I didn’t actually realise how good the selection was until I found the menu on untapped. A place with such an extensive menu would really benefit from an app to order from. Only thing that let it down was the time to get served and trying to attract a waiter in between beers to get another.
S. S.
Great visit there on Saturday late on.
Beautifully thought out bar, staff polite and efficient, including the doorman.
House wine was great value and tasted just fine.
M. S.
Really nice bar with friendly and helpful staff. Didn't have a full range of drinks and no menus were at the table or bar codes to scan but I'm sure post pandemic it will improve.
P. L.
Great new pub, very welcoming and the staff were excellent. A fantastic choice of Ales and the staff were very knowledgeable. The pizza's were lovely with a great selection of sizes and toppings. There was 6 of us and we shared two 12 inch pizza's whilst enjoying a buzzing atmosphere. Highly recommendable, a must try 🍻😁👍
D. M.
Great decor, a good range of drinks, and friendly staff. I will certainly return.

First visit was a Friday night and really liked this pub/bar. A new smell hits you of wood when you walk in. Lovely decorated interior with lots of seating at tables, long seats or high tables. Range of beers is fantastic, don't think I had heard of them so tried a couple of the guest ales. Don't expect the cheapest prices but they are very fair compared to bars around. About a fiver a pint the ones I tried. Service was great, the place was lovely and warm, door staff pleasant and young lady behind bar thanked us and wished us goodnight on the way out. Nice touch as she was probably not the manager but just a reflection of the level of service all night. Toilets very clean and found downstairs past the pool table (doesn't seem to suit the place but fills a gap). Overall recommend you give it a go if you like a variety of beers. Easily found on Colmore Row towards Theatrix and the Town Hall end.
D. N.
Popped in here last Friday unexpectedly just for drinks with the wife . Nice attentive staff and the the drinks we're not robbery. Had a laugh when outside for a smoke with the most friendliest chilled doorman. Will visit again most certainly when next in Brum
C. W.
Good choice of beers and gins and nice pizzas.
M. W.
Classy bar with good selection of real ales
N. Z.
Amazing service, I forgot my hat there around 8pm today and after we've walked out for 2 mins already the waiter put an effort running on the street and kindly found us to delivered it! Absolutely amazed by this. Pzza is very tasty, overall very impressed.
B. E.
Absolutely spot on bar for real ale city drinkers! Theres plenty in the area that we usually visit, but this has a great balance of a premium bar feel whilst still feeling like you're in a pub! I don't feel the drinks are overpriced, however you can get a cheaper pint in the welly round the corner. But you get what you pay for and here that is perfectly balanced environment and fab beers! Worth the extra £ in my books!
F.
Lovely decor and excellent beer. I didn't have the food, but what was around me looked nice.
J. R.
Great service, socially distanced, large and quality range of beers, possibly need some training regarding the wine list but prices are what they are in the golden circle. I really like this place but would it hurt to put mirrors above the sinks in the toilets?
K. K.
Very cool retro looking bar, very tasty Cocoa Wonderland Stout.pool table downstairs. I like it.. alot.
C. W.
Superb pub. Excellent beers and a very pleasant licensee. A great place if you want to impress a business contact or new partner
P. P.
This place is excellent. Great range of real ales. Staff were friendly. Toilets downstairs, also had a pool table downstairs too. Really busy when I was there. Seems a popular place to go. Enjoyed
d. s.
Great choice of drinks, with Thornbridge beers the main event. Opulent decor with a good mix of seating and booths, we had Jaipur and it was good, had a better pint of this in Sheffield at a Thornbridge pub. Price of drinks was reasonable for location\city centre.
N. H.
The beer was good and friendly staff was helpful its first time I been in.
A. V.
This has a grand interior but without the pretentious atmosphere - a comfortable, friendly vibe instead with many ell kept Thornbridge beers on cask and draught.
T. C.
Very nice looking venue. Was busy when we went but got served quickly. The Thornbridge beers available (think it might be owned by them) were very good.
C. K.
Great pizza, fantastic beer.
J. W.
Beerdough pizzas 2x 12" for £12...good deal. Love the beerdough pizza base & toppings. My only wish would be that they didn't add the tomato sauce mixed with Basil....and just left it as a tomato base only.
F. Y.
A very interesting place. Members only and it is almost invisible.
Great place for business meetings without being interrupted.
J. D.
Really like it here. No expense has been spared on the decor. Great range of beer and staff are well trained. The only civilised bar in Brum with a pool table!
C. N.
Cosy pub with some great homely decor. Excellent selection of beers - both Thornbridge own and guest ales. Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Well worth a visit
D. A.
Popped in for the first time at the weekend. Very nicely done out venue, bigger than I expected, and it needed to be as there were plenty of people there. And, being Thornbridge, of course the beer was great!
G. L.
The lady serving behind the bar was lovely, pizza was really good and a really nice atmosphere
D. M.
Best kept pint in the Midlands. Charming staff and belting interior.
Nothing not to rate.
V. C.
Amazing atmosphere, brilliant music, will certainly be going again soon
N. P.
Beautiful bar in Birmingham. Great beer and friendly staff. Thoroughly recommended and handy for New Street and Snow Hill train stations.
G. W.
Great pub. Attentive, friendly staff with massive selection of fine ales and food at a good price in a very smart looking venue 👍
T. A.
Great selection of beers. Nice pizzas. Hidden gem.
G. T.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced beer
C. W.
I would have enjoyed the experience if I could have sat down. The staff allowed people who had long finished their drinks to just sit there on their phones etc. It was a very busy early evening but they would serve more good and drink if they moved people on.
G. S.
What a lovely bar! Dropped in for a drink pre-Dishoom and was very impressed. Good drinks menu, impressive menu and friendly staff.
T. S.
Good selection of beers nice interior nice city centre pub

Nice bar. Upmarket feel. Would have eaten there but the food on offer was a bit basic (pizzas).

Quality place - beers, decor and service. On our recent visit they took the necessary Covil precautions seriously.
S. G.
Not the worth the hefty membership fee and as soon as you walk through the door you notice that the crowd does not reflect the price. Chavs.
P. K.
Outstanding, comfortable seating, great choice of beers both cask and keg. No industrial lagers. And pizzas!
R. S.
Expensive drinks, great vibe, the first contactless pool table at £1 a go I've come across (game changer).
M.
