Reviews of The Dragon Inn
R. T.
OK, it is a Wetherspoons BUT for the money you can’t ask for more. I liked the steak. The ultimate burger could be better. For a quick cheap meal and a couple of pints I can’t really fault it.
J. A.
The staff were really nice. All of them.
It was very busy. But managed to get a table before heading over to the theatre. Didn't have some of our first choice dishes. But we were happy with the meals we got.
Thanks guys
g. j.
A great place to eat in Birmingham City centre....you can actually afford to eat here. Good atmosphere and always busy. Never had any problems finding a table, even at 6-7pm when your going to the theatre.
Cater for vegetarians and vegans.
Always eat here when in town.
R.
Great breakfast, good quality and cooked perfectly! No milk but staff went out of there way to accommodate us! Definitely recommend a visit and good prices!
T. B.
I went there when it was rather busy but the waiting times were a lot less than I expected when ordering food. the food was excellent for this type of establishment and I will be returning here when I am next in the area. I have found a good place in a good location with good service and food. Thanks to those staff that served me and my friend. We took a chance and it paid off!
B. O.
It's one of the nicer Wetherspoons but the staff are diabolical. Walked in when the doors opened for breakfast and one staff member, a beastly female, was shaking her head at us for coming early on a Sunday, while stuffing her face with a plate full of hash browns. Establishment 5*. Staff 1*.
K. L.
Great place, you get 34 chips with the meal. Lol. Genuinely though great place didn't have security asking for ID at the front like other wetherspoons . My friend forgot his ID but they didn't refuse to serve me drinks. The way they approached us as well along with the atmosphere. Certain server, can't remember who he was but had a strong work ethic and did ask my other friend for ID. Can appreciate the workers, I could tell they were tired but still had some banter in them. Would encourage ppl to go there cause it wasnt busy at all. Would love to see people populate Chinatown more even on the weekdays.
J. D.
Nice local pub which I go when I have no where to go 😅. Food and drinks might not the best but are nice enough and definitely good value for money
R. T.
Good variety of drinks wines or beers.
Nice food again a good variety.
One disappointment was with my meal it should have had cheddar cheese on the meal but it did not. Disappointing
m. r.
Great food and fast service highly recommended.
R. C.
Had breakfast there a couple of days I a row. Arrived quickly, tasted OK. Staff polite.
T. T.
One of my favourite 'spoons in the country. Even when they're busy they're great under pressure and I always get exactly what I order :)
A. S.
Great pub, quick service. Nice outdoor seating. Seemed well managed and clean/tidy for a Friday night.
A. S.
Typical weatherspoons food. No surprises on taste.
Nice pub. Staff are rude and not welcoming. Suppose now you can order from your table it not a concern.
Loads of space and seems to be a buzzing crowd. I am being generous with my stars.
A. M.
Nice premises, good location.
App table service, friendly staff.
Good food and drink, cheap prices.
G. B.
Been here a few nights this week, can't fault it, service has been top notch. I've used the app each time, drinks appear quickly and food is not far behind. Staff doing great job.
S. B.
Good food, great atmosphere n friendly staff, what more could you want 😀
M. V.
Traditional with an modern flair. You order about a app and can pay via PayPal or google pay. Shortly after your order, your food is already ready. On the card is next every meal the kcal number, it is really great. There are two entries and reasonable for wheelchairs.
M. J.
Nice location in the centre of Bewdley, with rooms available if you fancy stopping over. Our food arrived quickly along with the drinks we ordered on the app.
A. H.
Only went for breakfast so difficult to provide much detail. Food was fine and service was good.
H. H.
Located right by the Birmingham hippodrome so it's perfect for a pre/post theatre meal. The food was piping hot, delicious and very reasonably priced. Good sized portions. Like every wetherspoons they do deals for each day of the week. Also do a '3 sides for £10' deal. For our 3 sides we got nachos, chicken bites and chips topped with curry sauce. One of our party was vegetarian and they enjoyed the veggie burger. Something for everyone here. ☺
M. M.
Good price friendly staff well situated. Been going here for years, good old faithful
D. S.
Good food at very reasonable prices. Great service and atmosphere. Outdoor seating available.
S. B.
Staff are friendly as always good value for money lots of tables but can get very busy they were a bit overwhelmed when we were there no cups left and lots of empty tables full of used plates etc but they got it cleared up fairly quickly no pizzas at this spoons either.
P. H.
Loved my visit! The pub had a great atmosphere and we immediately felt comfortable coming in. The food came a but slower than normal but when it did it was genuinely so good !! The drinks came quick and were refreshing and a perfect temperature. The staff were lovely and accommodating considering that it was quite busy. Definitely the best Spoons I've been to so far in Birmingham. The standard is very low but had a pleasant experience!
K. B.
Food arrived very quickly, was hot and tasted great. Very busy pub bur were fast service
G. R.
Big pub, food and drinks were nice, staff were helpful
G. Y.
Can always rely on Wetherspoons to serve a decent cup of coffee at a very reasonable price. Have to admit I was surprised at how big this one is, although the lighting is so subdued, it took me a few minutes to notice😉 12 o'clock on a Saturday, and the place was very busy, with what can only be described as a mixed bunch - group of young ladies at one table, to gang of middle aged bikers propping up the bar.
L.
Very huge bar. I believe they have more than just this one branch. There are many other branches all over the country but under different names. Smacked right in the middle of the city, the price is actually pretty decent. Service was fast and food was pretty delicious. 9 pounds for this set of ribs wings fries and onion rings. Serving was huge. Burgers go at 5 pounds.
R. M.
Lots out of stock and not the fastest service, but the food was quite good! And the usual good Wetherspoons prices
T. S.
Been the main stay for our work place meet ups over the years. It's a wetherspoons at the end of the day. You either love it or hate it. This place, there's way more to love than hate.
T. N.
Sat outside as weather was lovely. Food was very nice. The only downfall was that it took staff too long to clear any tables after people had finished eating, so attracting flies. On one table, the people had finished eating and left for over an hour and still no-one had cleared the table. The staff were bringing drinks out, but not clearing tables which had been vacated. Didn't look very welcoming.
J. B.
Reasonably priced grub and booze, also got invited to a furry night by a friendly local, good times!
P. M.
Popular Spoons, good smoking area. Lively young clientele. Been before, will go again!
J. B.
Always have a great time when here. Met some lovely people too when on nights out. Great place, good value for money and lovely staff 👍
C. N.
Service a little slow - yes, it was very busy but when tables around you who came in later are served before you there is an issue. Ordered using the app, drinks arrived quickly but food was over half an hour wait for simple breakfast. Others who came in after had food within 10 minutes.
Food ok but not brilliant - poached eggs were more like hard boiled eggs.
Constant high pitched squeak from the kitchen door swinging back and forth every 20 seconds was bad enough to give me a headache - just needs some oil!
E. D.
Visited on a Monday evening.
Much like every other Weatherspoons. Wasn't really greeted or sat down so was pretty much a free for all. The table next to us were clearly pretty drunk, screaming and shouting and blasting music from their phones. Ordered a drink and some food (I had the veggie curry) - very tasty and exceeded my expectations for a spoons :) used the womens bathroom before leaving which was soaked all over the floor, looked like a leak from the toilet that hadn't been fixed maybe.
Nice food and drinks, just a shame about the other rowdy customers and the mess.
T. S.
The Dragon Inn, Birmingham, Chinese Quarter... OK. The Dragon Inn is a small public house located in the chinese quarter of Birmingham. Upon arrival, we noticed it was averagely busy with members of chinese community, which was good to see. If the locals don't go there, often there's a reason. The menus and tables were a bit sticky and dirty, could of benefited from a wipe down. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient during our visit. The food came out quickly and was fresh, tasty and plenty full. Overall the experience was good, an average pub, with an average atmosphere, good staff and perfect food! Cheers! The pub is nice staff nice but the toilets are filthy was in 3 days in a row and always the sit down toilets never worked full with c**** and the tiles was filthy needed a bloody good clean
C. M.
Lovely food, nice location and great staff.
x.
I do not consider myself as beeing exaggerated or too picky but the impression that this place gave me is that this is nothing more than your classic old cheap kind of pub. Food was decent but apart from that I have nothing more to add.
S. B.
Can be busy, but nice place for a drink.
L. V.
Cool pub with good food, drinks and nice staff!
G. G.
Had to return my breakfast as it was cold, staff were very helpful, and replaced it for fresh it was very nice.
b. s.
aside from the off his head 'johnson boy' wandering the outside sitting area with a scar on his neck trying to spit bars to us from his nokia, it's not too bad.
K. s.
Very nice Wetherspoons. Obviously all the drinks promotions and menu is the same as the rest of the chain, but the bar itself is big and we'll presented. Nice surprise in the middle of China town.
J. L.
Good location, weatherspoons cheap prices, does get very busy on weekends as to be expected
C. P.
I really appreciate how the staff was constantly cleaning around; their app for ordering food and drinks is very practical and efficient (personally, one of the best ways to handle clients while keeping a safe distance I've seen so far). Food is decent quality and good value for money. Only downside is that it's quite loud & hard to have a conversation, but that's unavoidable, especially at this time, i guess!
R. N.
What a delightful little place the staff as far as I could tell one lady was amazing lol she was running about doing everything and doing a good job at it. Food was nice the staff lady made us feel very welcome. Not expensive easy to find near the xscape building. Place was very clean as well
C. A.
Came here for some quick grub and wasn't disappointed, sat outside and food was quick and decent for the price, especially for a city centre.
j. m.
Good service food was hot could do with new decor
S. H.
Love Wetherspoons great atmosphere and excellent value for money.
m. m.
I love this pub, cheap and cheerful in the convenient location.
A. K.
Cheap and cheerful, ideal for ore theatre drinks
A. F.
Nice pub to visit but very busy not muxh seating available but reasonable priced drinks
K. R.
A Wetherspoons pub that us on edge if Brums Chinese quarter and useful if awaiting Hippodrome to open its doors.
P. R.
Great place ..no seats inside though.
L. W.
The usual .... Bar staff can not read a bar ... Waited while 4 people who came to the bar after me got served ... Used the app after that. ☹️☹️
M. C.
Great staff amazingly cheap drinks fantastic atmosphere
I. T.
Typical spoons. Good service. Food of a decent quality.
A. L.
Table was sticky and uncleaned. Service to table was fast. Smoking area made all of outside smelly if you do not smoke. Drinks were very giid value.
j. x.
I always come here to eat when visiting Birmingham , decent food for a low cost .
The Table's need a proper clean , they are always dirty and sticky. Toilets just as bad
G. M.
Arrived around tea time not too busy & staff were obliging getting served immediately & courteous
J. R. O.
Really nice place for eat or drink, good prices in everything, they make the food fast and good taste. They have a huge menu of menu and drinks. About Covid safety they take really serious the restrictions and you will feel safe being in the pub. My recommendation is try the Burgers and the chicken wings, they are amazing and really tasty. About drinks is up to you but my favourite beer there is punk IPA!
R. M.
They have an app where you can order your stuff and magically it appears at your table.. They have quite a selection of beers for a good price. They also have seasonal beers that are very interesting. The bartenders are fast and do a great job. It's popular so you may not find a seat sometimes.
S. M.
Nice pub in good location close to China town and Arcadia centre and other good restaurants
L. d. S.
Reasonably priced food and drinks, nice atmosphere
T. K.
Just a standard weatherspoons,
Nothing exciting but good all round
A. J.
Seamless order system through their app for table service.
Friendly staff with a good pup atmosphere.
D. T.
This is my favourite Wetherspoons pub. Situated in the centre of town adjacent to the Chinese Quarter and Gay Quarter with Birmingham's premier theatre, The Hippodrome just across the way. It is noth a spacious and cosmopolitan pub serving good food, alcohol and othter beverages. The staff are fantastic. ..especially the current manager who goes the extra mile to provide excellent service. I feel very at home here. It's just GREAT. GO!
J. P.
Typical Wetherspoons (although you actually don't need to use stairs to go to the toilet in this one).
Quick service, decent food, good rage of drinks.
g. H.
One of the nicest pubs have ever been to very good staff and good food would eat again
E. P.
Visited as a pre pantomime meal with my 2 grandsons - meal was good - hot and as it was fish and chip club day - it was more than adequate. Boys went for the burgers which were fine - bit too much too eat. The waitress was lovely, chatted to The boys and was very efficient- don't know her name but we were there between 12 and 1pm on Friday 3rd - so say thank you to the waitress who attended our table !!!
M. G. S.
Large place with outside seating in the centre of Birmingham. Good pub food and drinks. Good service too.
C. M.
The dragon Inn is ALWAYS ram packed with pre-drinkers, and party goers so there's always a lively atmosphere. Two bars for busy periods but only 1 is used during quiet times. Food is decent however the last couple of times they have mixed up or forgotten things from my meal but been quick to rectify their mistakes.
A. B.
Nice , clean well priced for the location
D. C.
Had a nice meal here! Very good
T. C.
Good value offers at lunch and well kept beer.
K. M.
Good all round spoons n location.
K. P.
Usual busy Wetherspoons, staff working quickly
S. L.
Great place to meet up whilst in the Chinese quarter
D. D.
A wetherspoon pub in central Birmingham by the hippodrome theatre and Chinese restaurant also by the glee club real pub atmosphere friendly staff clean toilet
S. H.
First time in this Spoons, great atmosphere, will visit again.
J. Y.
Seemed a bit neglected. Otherwise no problems
M. C.
Went in at 7 o'clock on a Tuesday night.
While it wasn't that busy, almost all free tables still had empty bottles on them and were in need of a clean.
The wait at the bar was quite lengthy, though staff were friendly and helpful when I finally got served.
As with most Wetherspoons, there was a good selection of drinks to choose from.
The wait for food to arrive was close to half an hour (was not advised of this when I ordered), but food arrived hot. It was all quite well cooked, though the peas were swimming in water and as a result, so was everything else.... Never a fan of soggy chips!
D. B.
Ok atmosphere, the staff abided by covid regulations and tables are socially distanced. I had my beer and meal and left promptly before 10.
Not the Dragons fault this whole affair is nonsense, cant wait for normality like that time I played giant Jenga with a dwarf in there or wore a bishop's hat
S. T.
Good choice of beer, well priced, nice chilled atmosphere.
G. K.
Enjoyable meal but as with others they had run out of certain items in this case fish
A. O.
Spur of the moment birthday lunch..
No proper tables available for an hour, so chose a bar table.. Viewing the portion size of the plates coming from the kitchen we chose to have just a main course..
Fish Friday was a must and thoroughly enjoyed it..
Z.
Nice atmosphere and clean toilets
A. M.
Lovely spoons! Friendly staff and quick service!
G. E.
It's a Wetherspoon pub so you know what to expect
E. M.
Food ok my chicken burger was very dry
S. B.
A nice large pub which has loads of seating as well as standing areas for people who just want a drink. The staff are friendly and very efficient, even during really busy periods and the whole place is clean. Food is as you’d expect from Wetherspoons but there’s certainly no delay in service and given the great location it’s hard to beat. I’ll be returning many times more…!
N. B.
The food service although basic is quick and the staff are very hard-working The atmosphere was good but on the Saturday night the cold air conditioning was on and a lot of the people came and went quickly. As did we. The fish and chips on Friday is excellent value for money and includes a drink.
G. C.
Had food and a drink! Very dark inside and did not feel particularly welcome!
D. C.
So this is a Wetherspoons pub, what can you say? The pub was clean. The service was all by app and honestly we waited 5 minutes maximum so not much difference between going to the bar. One thing that let this establishment down was the one way system and I can't blame that on the company.
W. M.
Cheap and cheerful what you expect from a Witherspoon's!
M. W.
Staff were extremely helpful accommodating a group of 10 of us. We were warned that there would be a wait of around 20 minutes for the food we ordered as it was surprisingly busy for 10:30am. All but one of the group ordered the large breakfast and we were all pleased with the portion size, price and quality of the food.
Only negative was that the sole person who ordered something different (American pancakes) they got the order slightly wrong. Otherwise a pleasant and convenient place to dine.
M. C.
Friendly staff, reasonable prices for food for pub grub in the city. Quick service. I take my son and 9mth old granddaughter there for lunch. They do a children's menu, which is ok but could have a better variety. Highchairs are available. Descent outdoor space with tables and chairs. We like it..
J.
We have eaten here on 3 or 5 occasions and have had good food, good prices and a nice atmosphere. Today though the staff messed up our lunch order and we sat for some time thinking it was just busy, apparently the food went to the wrong table. Thankfully Beata sorted it out and gave is a complementary dessert. Thanks Beata, you restored our faith.
A. T. M.
Food was tasty, good atmosphere but avoid any steak dishes as they dont have a clue on what cooking it rare means - drinks were kind of flat but hey that's a pub for ya! All in all a decent experience, although of an evening there forms a barrier of smokers that you have to phase through if you have the right password...this being excuse me please - spoken very politely unlike Gandalf in the lord of the rings
n. b.
Good beer and good atmosphere 👌🏾
K. E.
Very Nice chicken korma, lovely staff, very spacious area. the only downside is there was a man standing and staring at me and boyfriend a few tables down which made us very uncomfortable and no staff asked if he was okay despite a few walking past him back and forth.
Overall i definitely would come back here again and i recommend eating here by yourself or with anyone!
M. W.
Service was very quick even though the pub was full
S.
Everything you'd expect from a wetherspoons - affordable food & drink, wide selection. Pub has a more traditional cosy feel with outdoor seating beside the street, some covered. Nice atmosphere and a bit more out the way than other 'spoons in Birmingham, but can get busy on weekends.
D. M.
Popped in for a Coffee, Andy our bar server was friendly and calm. As many rude customers pushed in front of each other to get served. Wasn't even busy but they we're extremely rude. He kept his pleasant manner and continued to serve quickly. Lovely bloke. Job well done.
T. G.
Good food and drink at a reasonable price with very polite staff
j. g.
Enjoyed breakfast and dinner in here, it's cheap and cheerful. Inside is quite nice and relatively clean. Staff could be a little more polite and could do some training with basic manners, such as them trying to clear the table whilst half of our party hadn't even finished eating.
T.
Good place for a drink, nicely embedded in the arcadian. Can be a little slow on the bar but with the Weatherspoons app it's very reasonable. Drinks are usually great but had some slightly overcooked food here in the past - definitely not enough to put me off ordering here again though! Worth going to for pre drinks before a boozy night out on the town. Would recommend.
J.
Good. A bit more expensive than regular Wetherspoons
J.
A great little pub on Hurst street. Lovely great tasting food and various drinks for sale. I last went in just before Christmas on a Thursday night and it was ever so busy. People eating and drinking, enjoying themselves. That's what you see. Give it a try.
J. B.
It’s a spoons. It does spoons stuff. Staff are decent. And do well to smile throughout the abuse the punters give them.
K. O.
Typical witherspoon pub ok only criticism is since I have been using there app to order food and drink I am finding them rather slow 10 minutes for a drink
N. I.
I ordered the 14oz rump steak was not expecting much but what come out was amazing the steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were to die for will definitely be coming back in the future thank you one very happy customer.
r. e.
Good value as always but the bar tender got my order wrong and tried to convince me that I was wrong! I had to get a drinks menu to show him what to do. The drink he gave me was completely wrong. During our conversation a colleague or manager intervened and helped, ensuring I got a refund. Then we established that they had no ice. Never had a bad experience like this before so probably a one off.
S.
I love the app. No wait, they bring your order to the table. The price is nice. The only minus was that my breakfast was a bit on the lukewarm side when it arrived.
D. O.
Lovely , cheap and cheerful
3 of us ate and had a drink for £23 . Can be busy so you sometimes need to wait for a table. Luckily thos Friday evening we found one straight away and the food didn't take to long to come . Was very happy 😃
J. E.
Very pleasant staff friendly polite food is excellent service excellent still the same
A. D.
A hugely diverse clientele allowed for really interested people watching in this pub. Exceptionally cheap drinks (some were 3 for £5!) so good place to come just to drink and chat. Would definitely re-visit. Toilets were a state though.
k.
Decent pub friendly people 😉 nice outside area
G. W.
A very good Wetherspoons pub in central Birmingham close to the hippodrome, theatres, restaurants; Chinese supermarkets, wholesalers and the famous Bullring markets. There is a large easily accessible car park adjacent to this pub. The food here is renowned, especially the early morning big boys' breakfast trade. It has big screen TV, good seating and space. The coffee is good and on tap for refills to suit🍷🍺🍽🍵
P. B.
Typical wetherspoons prices and products. The place feels a bit run down. When I was there on the Saturday they had only 2 out of 5 ales on, rather disappointing as that's the main reason I go. It's very popular and busy but we did manage to find a table.
a. s.
Weatherspoons pub...cheaper drinks. .food good value. .staff attentive good place to meet friends...can be very busy and tables not always free if theatre has show on.....probably needs a bit of redecoration as so popular and well used..toilet facilities need kept an eye on...as not really that inviting at times...down to some customers usage...lack of soap on occasions and hand driers out of action..overall 3 stars...
S. H.
Normal Wetherspoon quality, food was fine. This is one of the more run down examples of the chain, quite dark and uninviting. The toilets however look recently renovated and are the best part of the building. I'd go there again but it's not the nicest pub.
T. H.
The decorations are lovely, made the place feel warm and welcoming. The buffet has so many authentic Chinese dishes I was blown away. Really great place!
I. R.
It's a Wetherspoons. It goes for an English pub feel and has reasonable prices for drinks and food. Quality is as you expect, not terrific but not bad either, it matches the price very well. It's a shame that they don't do Sunday roasts anymore like they used to though, they were always my favourite
k. b.
Place was very clean. Staff really on it for managing social distancing which is not easy at all in the part of town. Didn't have food but everyone around em seem to be enjoying their food
G. W.
Popped in for a pre-show drink, this is what you would expect- busy and loads of tables to choose from. The staff took a few minutes to serve me but it was cheap so I was not concerned. They have WiFi though I did not use it. The toilets are ok, could do with a proper clean but there you go, it’s only Spoons. You can’t really go wrong here and it is easy to walk to the theatre or nearby O2 Academy.
D. J.
I like going to the Dragon Inn cus it's better value for money and plus other weatherspoons places as well.
M. R.
Been to this pub which was super busy. But to our surprise they have an app where you can order the food on the app put in your table number and pay online. And there you have it after 10-15 mins we had our foods and drinks. Fantastic such a good service . Thanks ;)
J. C.
First thing I noticed was the FREE drinking water signage, (good on ya,) then the array of draught beers, lagers and ever more popular gins. Taster glasses of beers available. Huge seating area around a vast bar from little nooks to large group tables. Disabled accessable for food, drinks and toilets although the bar is high and I didn't spot a lowered area for wheelchair users to approach. Although I didn't have any, food is served and seemed generously portioned. Toilets are clean.
K. W.
Loved the food and the drinks!
P. K.
A standard Whetherspoon's pub: large interior with lots of tables, good range of real ales, cheap but not high quality food. There is a small outdoors area with seating for about 50 people, but it's next to a noisy outlet/vent from the building next door, so it's not a quiet/relaxing spot.
t. t.
Food is excellent, very clean with prompt service.
Not the cheapest, but not the dearest either. The 10oz rump steak was cooked to perfection, it melted in the mouth.
R. M.
We spent over 3 hours here as we were waiting for a coach. Food was standard Spoons food- tasty enough and plenty of food, piping hot and served quickly at a low price. The young lady manager that dropped off the food and checked in on us (blonde hair, red colourful dress) was smiley and friendly and other staff were helpful also. They have a nice outdoor seating area on the street of China town. However what we really didn't enjoy was two young men openly and blatantly snorting cocaine on one of the raised tables outside. It was busy out there and loads of people would have seen it. They just without a care in the world pulled the little pot out, sprinkled it onto a card and very loudly snorted it. Then one of the repulsive individuals, airways agitated by large amounts of cocaine was loudly sneezing as snot flew out his nose all over the place- totally vile. We moved inside. Whilst I appreciate this is not the pubs fault and it could happen everywhere, if this is the usual clientele then perhaps people like us who aren't into that may wish to give it a wide birth. I'm sure if management had seen it they would have challenged it seeing as this is such a big corporation. It's probably a sign of how disrespectful many people are these days. What they do in their bedrooms is one thing but in the middle of a beer garden full of other customers and in broad daylight I feel it's disgusting and the individuals should not be so selfish. Any way I have said it as we found it so you can make up your own mind. Contemplated informing the police who were cycling around on push bikes but couldn't be bothered with an altercation.
E. E.
Just had lunch there, pulled beef burger. Food was well presented, full of flavor and cooked to my taste. The staff and in particular the waitress, were excellent hence the 5 stars.
R. D.
Loud and bustling. Good place to start your night out in birmingham
A. W.
The area is a good place especially if you are young. Chicken wings were piping hot but the only downside was the time taken to get drinks. Not enough bar staff...
P. R.
One of the best Wetherspoons breakfasts I've ever had if not the best.
Great service, seat with a phone socket couldn't ask for more.
W. D.
Lovely food and good price. X
A. G.
Social distancing was good, service was good too and initially the food was ok but half way through my chicken burger, I was getting chewy uncooked bits, so I had to leave it.
L. R.
Great place for pre show meal and drink. It's a spoons so fairly basic pub menu but good portion sizes, great service. Drinks half the price of theatre!
D. S.
I found the dragon in a nice place to be, the atmosphere was good if a little rowdy as there was European cup game on.
Before I continue please note that all service is done at the bar as is normal in J.D. Wetherspoons Establishments. Service at the bar was quick, I gave my table number then ordered. Service was polite and warned of an impending wait of approximately 20 minutes. This was fair it is a large establishment that felt like it could use maybe another set of hands in the kitchen for busy evenings. When food was presented the wait was again apologised for, and the server did enquire to check if everything was to our taste.
After a wait of about 25 minutes we served, the food was well prepared. Meat was succulent and tender, chips well seasoned. Genuinely tasty. Only criticism is that the burgers my family and I ate had salad inside the bun. This was wilted a little by the heat of the surrounding food and may have been better on the side. All plates were either cleared or left with a little to spare.
Overall a good meal thoroughly enjoyed, good pub food, good atmosphere. Good time had by all.
A. C.
Food is really well priced, as it is at all Wetherspoons. The interior is a bit dark inside, and the decor could do with a little bit of an update. Also, the bar staff don't seem to 'get' customer service; we waited for about five minutes to be served whilst a member of the bar staff faced up and re-stocked the spirits. Not great, hence dropping it from an excellent rating.
R. B.
Steak Night.... delicious and then a hot chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, oh, and a glass of red wine. Excellent value and served by a dishy waiter. What could be better?!?
J. K.
Brilliant place. Been going here for years and they neve disappoint. Whether it's for drinks or food before a show they've always made you feel welcome and at home. Using the app makes everything so much easier and better by not having to move from your seat, especially when they're busy. Secret tip from me. Hehe 😉😉
J. B.
Cheap and cheerful. We got severed at the bar quickly and food also came out quick even though it was a busy Friday night. Its a standard whetherspoons, get what you pay for.
J. T.
Came in here a few times while staying in the area for a long weekend - the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. The food was good - had one evening meal here and two breakfasts and all were spot on, would definitely recommend
M. G.
The bar staff were friendly with quick service and I got my food in 10 minutes. When it did arrive I was pleasantly surprised how well my steak was cooked.
F. N.
Good service had good time plenty of people very busy
J. P.
Wheelchair accessible and disabled toilets large building with plenty of seating good food and decent drinks the only downfall is the staff and the waiting times before being served but that depends on whoever is behind the bar
m. m.
Very warm, cosy atmospheric place. Superb staff and great food with vast selection of drinks. Free wifi along with clean, hygenic toilets; its a must visit bar and restaurant in Birmingham.
T. F.
I do like this Wetherspoons, a lot of the staff are lovely but you do get the occasional rude staff member at peak times (most likely due to stress) or the occasional god botherer and maybe the not too uncommon offer for some weed to purchase from another person in the bar so it had it's quirks.
D.
I've always had good food at this place and has a really good £5.00 'Deli Deal'. The interior is quite dark and cozy. It's a nice place to go and relax with friends 👍
F.
Inky pub in brum that asked the right covid questions, well done. A bit dirty but staff nice and drinks Good value. It's a wetherspoon after all.
D. G.
Service was very slow. My wife ordered the Christmas dinner,it wasn't worth the 10 pounds that they charge. The photo on the menu looks so much better than the actual meal.
K. Y.
Good place to relax. Clean, covid friendly. Staff are great
J. A.
My place to end up. Love it
M.
Fantastic wetherspoon, great staff. Matt is amazing. Food is fantastic,
the way they handled the place during pride was incredble, Ive been in there a few times and the team are always bubbley and happy to see every customer. Matt especially is always happy to chat whilst serving and always has a smile. Definitely a credit to the brand.
Edited the review abit better :)
a. w.
Good Wetherspoons its very popular and does what it says on the tin.....but always struggle to find somewhere to sit and every time we go in tables seen like they need wiping.. had food there very nice ...had to wait ages at bar for drink ....but staff where very busy and friendly...hence why 1 star down
L. M.
Good food and drinks, but employees not really happy to work there, which show us a lack of professionalism.
c.
Nice place. It is quite a large venue and was very busy when I visited. However, it has a nice decor and service is good. Definitely somewhere I would recommend.
E. -. R.
Curry was nice a some mango chutney or Ratia salad would be nice with the poppadoms. Staff friendly and helpful great location for the hippodrome but does get busy
B. G.
Good staff, u know what your going to get when you order food. Service is good too.
S. C.
Friendly staff and well priced
M. T.
It's spoons, so good value with very pleasant staff.
D. B.
Brilliant..lively.. noisy...great!
K. E.
GOOD
- Quick service
- Lots of tables
- Variety of table sizes
- Reasonably good atmosphere
- Relatively clean
- Wide range of drinks (incl non-alcoholic)
- Good central location
BAD
- Tables often sticky
- Worn & dated furnishings
- Food is overpriced and poor quality
G. B.
Ok for a JDs but never seem to have a decent selection of Real ales
S. M.
Great cheap place lovely food clean and friendly service 👌😁
D.
Nice pub in Chinatown, Birmingham. Offers food and has set menus on Set days. An example would be Tuesdays is steak. Opens at 8 o'clock and serves breakfast to 12 afternoon. Highly recommended. Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, but is not as busy as the pubs in the city centre. This pub is not located in the city centre but is a 10 to 20 minute walk to the main city centre. There are buses that pass by that go to the city centre the number 47 and number 80.
J. M.
It was ok. Staff great and drinks cheap for the area . No atmosphere though and very dull
B. L.
Always had a good meal here. Yesterday was no exception, and due to covid it has been well taken care of.
D. G.
Very good food selection and drink selection. You can order off the app so you don't have to leave your table. A lot of seating. Very reasonably priced.
N. K.
A Wether spoons regular. On my first visit the Dragon lived up to expectations. I used the app as usual and service was good with no queueing. Had a good steak. All in all a good evening.
J. H.
It's a perfectly normal, cheap, cheerful spoons. If your here expecting the Ritz, mistakes have been made. It's a great, cheap pub with a varied, simple menu
T. W.
It was on our dear friend Italian Fillipo’s (centre) bucket list to spend a birthday in Birmingham with the boys, away from the shackles of London. We took him for a cracking balti followed by a few swift halves at the dragon inn and the look on his face says it all. He was absolutely delighted and afterwards thanked us for providing him with such a memorable birthday.
M. W.
Nice break waiting for coach
m. s.
Bloody loved my mushroom benedict.
m. c.
Great food great prices, usual Wetherspoons quality and service. Wetherspoons are always good value and this is one of the best
Very close to the Brum Hippodrome so gets busy at peak times but still fast service.
M. C.
It's alright isn't it, again a wetherspoons pretty standard just you can stagger down to missing bar after gay or not and listen to a guy in a dress bang out I will survive with your friends who are into that kinda thing. Just like the old days when you'd been out clubbing for three days and you were hallucinating flying gnomes two hours in 😁
But you probably need to get home for the kids now. Cant have them doing what you did can you!
V. M.
Food was good. Would have given 5 stars but pub had 2 big bars but only one open. As they was busy there was big queues.
M. H.
It's a fairly busy spoons but there's usually always a table free or two. Quick response on food and drink orders. Close to New Street and Gay Village.
D. s.
Orders off the menu, the food wasn't amazing and wasn't bad either, seems authentic, should have gone for the barbecue and hot pot just for the "experience" , the barbecue ingredient looked ok, and had been out for a while!
J. W.
Typical Wetherspoons pub close to Hippodrome Theatre. Spacious interior on two levels. Usual menu of food & drink, good value. Can be very busy mornings & evenings close to Chinese quarter restuarants & Bham gay 'village' & bars.
S. K.
China town pub tucked away. Wetherspoons as reliable as always. Popped in for quick pint and a bite to eat. Very busy on Saturday afternoon due to Xmas and German market shopping. Town centre was heaving with humanity.
C. W.
Wetherspoons Pub. Good tasty food at affordable prices. Can get very crowded at times so best to get a table with someone to nab a table. If you don't like noise and lots of drunken laughter and merriment, best stay clear.
I. S.
Great for carnivores who like to explore food. Hot pot and barbecue mix is a treat of self cooking at the table.
P. N.
Nice pub friendly customers had a good time time
В. Е.
Good place! Especially daily menu!
B. G.
For Birmingham this would be considered a premium pub. Quite good prices and clean.
I guess from the floor tiles by the entrance that this might have been an O'Neills or Scruffy Murphy's at one time.
Not much choice in this area, so for drinks at least this is acceptable.
S. R.
Good place for pre drinks as cocktails are 2 pitchers for £12 but it's not a place where I'd personally wanna stay in all night
N. B.
Good priced food and beverages. Real pub atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. The bottomless coffee and tea is also a good point!
A. F.
Can't go wrong at a weatherspoons for a brunch, great price especially for city centre, came with a drink and my wife had refillable coffee which she loved, very busy for 11.30am but quick service and good staff,
T. C.
The meal came quickly but could have been hotter. Peas luke warm. Cutlery consisted of 3 forks and 1 knife. Service pleasant. Apology accepted for the cutlery.
J. m.
It's a really lovely atmosphere and the drinks are cheap for town alot of room for family's or if you want a drink with your mates but it does get on occasions like gay pride
D. W.
I don't usually go to Wetherspoons for the customer service, but I made my way back here because the staff were so friendly and welcoming! Best experience I've ever had in a Spoons!
R. B.
Awesome - the staff were fantastic... explained the menu and the way it all worked... food was superb... no pressure... take your time. Already planning our next visit
J. A.
Fast service and friendly atmosphere
A. B.
Bustling city boozer and the toilets aren't even upstairs 😁
J. M.
Not been to a Wetherspoon for years. Surprised how cheap it was even for nice pale ale. Decor quite old but there was a good atmosphere.
A. R.
I like this pub, offers good food late and the drinks aren't badly priced, however it gets far too busy for me on a weekend. Sometimes it's too crowded to move!
P. D.
Food ok . outside seating. Bar staff don't seem to be coordinated . Just not very rated as per the other Wetherspoons that we have visited through out the country.
J. M.
Came from Ireland and had the best time! Usually go out in London and was skeptical of a Birmingham night but Grace, Jacob and Jordan made us feel so welcome! Would recommend the Dragon's Inn to anyone visiting Birmingham 🙌🏼
J. V.
Went twice and both times the staff were friendly and the food arrived quickly and was well cooked. Plenty of seating and a nice atmosphere.
w. c.
OK for a quick drink or bite to eat.
M. P.
It's a quintessential English pub, with absolutely an amazing list of Lagers, Real Ales (my favourite), Ciders, world beers , Gin Palace, Rum shack, Whisky barrel's, the choice and price is absolutely amazing, that too for a place right in the city centre, I am a traveller and this place is amazing to say the least .I will and continue to come here as long as I am in Birmingham .
C.
Located in China town. Great food at reasonable prices. I had the ultimate burger which tasted great and came with onion rings, chips and a free soft drink.
N. W.
Always a warm welcome.
J. P.
Ideal pub for eats and drinks when you are visiting central Birmingham. Nothing outstanding about the place but the food was plentiful and tasty from a wide choice on the menu at prices anyone can afford.
M. R.
My daughter really enjoyed the food and drink and noticed the staff were cleaning contantly.
T. W.
Food was average pub food. Service was relatively quick. Good selection of beers on tap and ciders
m. m.
Staff were friendly and happy to help. Food was fast ouy the kitchen although it was busy. Food cooked nicely and tasted great.
L. J.
Staff are very friendly and great service 👍😁
A. W.
Great food and prices. Managers special was bang on! And fast service. Couldn’t be happier. 5/5
g. l.
Quick service highly recommend
r. m.
Food good and reasonable, nice staff. A bit dark and ran out of doombar ale, otherwise good place for something to eat before the theatre
G. B.
This very convenient weatherspoons.I always have lunch here when visiting the Birmingham theatre. Its very good value for money. Its very busy and must get there early to get table.Staff are very busy. They always helpful.
T. S.
Great public house ,could do with a few more staff behind the bar, very busy. Food good, if anything it's a little bit dark
K. B.
Great for cheap drinks
R. B.
Standard Wetherspoons experience. However, as in Brum city centre, so always busy. Can have trouble finding a table and usually 20+ mins wait for food.
K. K.
Very nice place, comfortable sitting and relax
J. W.
Nice meeting place.Service could be better.
R.
Good place but ordered items via app to be told they don't have items on menu then all meals came separately which as a family no one wants to eat whist others are waiting.
P. W.
I always enjoy a weatherspoons pubs as they are very welcoming. And it's local to train station and bus stops.
r. p.
Staff really are greayv especially the female I gave a tip too. She delt with our orders well and food and drinks were great.
R. C.
Perfect spoons in the day time, only 10 minutes from moor street, one of the nicest I've been in for a cold pint
m. l. r.
Was very busy but didn't impact on the service. Food was great served quickly despite the crowds which was impressive.
N.
Nice wetherspoons. Just gets a little busy, but with the hippodrome right by it, you can understand why. Great staff and really quick service.
R. C.
Nice atmosphere and quite quiet. A bit out of the way, so ideal for a quiet drink.
m. l.
Friendly, happy staff. .food is hot and delicious! I love coming here when I visit my daughter who's at BCU.
J. D.
Food is basic but nice, very rare you'll find anywhere to sit (as a small group) in the evenings.
S. C.
Nice cheap breakfast with refillable hot drinks. Friendly bar staff, outdoor seating. Good location in town.
T. H.
Decent pub with plenty of staff, slight issue with limited number of chairs due to many being taller than the tables.
C. W.
When ever I'm in Birmingham i have my meals here. It gets busy and the service is always brilliant. Great food to
B. B.
Just a pub with average grub. Nothing great or awful. I'm old enough to remember the little locals wen everybody knew everybody else. I miss the atmosphere
l. g.
Usual wetherspoons, reasonable selection of beers at a cheap price. Plenty of seating. Good place to pop into after a meal down China town.
D. H.
Very nice and clean pub friendly staff
P. T.
Great pub for a pre-theatre drink.
Very reasonable prices for a city centre venue.
Very clean toilets (always a positive for me).
T. F.
Another standard Spoons. Decent food and drink at great prices.
A. L.
Good table service had pitchers of cocktails ,very weak.
K. W.
Great place for first dates.
D. B.
Surved a purpose well. Pretty central and open late without a cover charge. Spacious, sells alcohol and able to chat with mates. Did the job.
P. M.
Food was of poor quality.
T. S.
Cracking pub, although could do with extra staff at the bar as you do have to wait a long time to be severed. Food good. I also feel its a bit dark in there
S. W.
Real ale was good although didn't manage to complete flushing the lines for a barrel change in over an hour! Typical Wetherspoons goid value
M. D.
Seemed very short staffed, food good, drink good and service for food good, wait at the bar spoilt it for me.
M. R.
absolutely packed but got served really quick. well done bar staff .its a wetherspoons so same as the rest.
S. H.
Having visited this establishment on many occasions I was disappointed by the slow service and lukewarm food.
D. H.
Like any Wetherspoons really. Cheap but decent food, lots of Ales to try, plenty of beer on tap. Always a good one to go to!
J. W.
Typical spoons. Gets really packed and can be difficult to find a table but food comes out quick and is of a really good quality.
S. P. C.
Another great Wetherspoons and the staff were amazingly helpful and polite. Food was very fresh , hot and plentiful.
B. M.
Good standard pub. Wetherspoons ordering app makes queuing at the bar a thing if the past (or it would be 3 stars:p )
D. H.
Good service very good staff
P. J.
It's ok
N. A.
A nice place to have a reasonably priced beer on the edge of the Gay Village.
And close to the Arcadian if you want something a bit more lively?
J. “. R.
Was nice staff were very nice and had mask on and cleaned tables after people left
J. R.
Good pub for a get together, prices good, bit heavy on the ice for a shot drink, but otherwise good .
S. G.
Great bar, food and drinks are such good value. Staff excellent.
H. K.
It's so cheap and great range of craft ales... I did get my wallet nicked in here once though, so keep an eye on your stuff!
M. P.
Lovely service! And Delicious breaded King Prawns perfectly cooked... Nice atmosphere, love this pub one of my faves!
f. e.
Food is consistently good, value is good but swearing in a family pub by staff members is an issue
A. M.
Very quick with service even when using the app to order
C. D.
Best spoons in Birmingham. Very rough and ready but it's a good spot to go before a gig.
C. K.
Very good value. Lots of seating. Wide range of beers. Pleasant staff.
L. e. L.
Chain pub in heart of China town, but if you not a big fan of Chinese food you have no choice! Luckily is not bad with decent food and choice of ales.
w. h.
Nice pub,
Nice staff
Some how we missed last orders
A. H.
As always a friendly service no matter how busy they are, the food is well priced and great
B. B.
Ran out of my favourite beer but besides that a good pub
W. M.
It's like most Wetherspoons, was surprised though that there was no Pizza on the Menu. Apparently the kitchen is too small for a Pizza oven.
A. K.
not the best spoons I've been in but only because it was rather dark inside. friendly and helpfully staff made up for it.
J. H.
Nipped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning, was shocked to see it so quiet!!!! Only about 8 people in, breakfast was warm which was good, service was OK,
k. n.
My favourite pub in brum, good atmosphere, cheap drinks and table service with the app.
L. A.
Lovely food and quick service. One of the best Wetherspoons I have been to.

C. G.
Had a good drink a d food with old friends. Prices were very reasonable
S. N.

Great place, if it were open xmas day I'd book tables, hard working staff are always nice.
S. J.
Had a Thursday curry deal here. Includes free drink - very good value for money.
C. B.
It's ok. No music....fair enough but at least have the text on the tv's so you can understand what they are talking about on the news channel.
K. P.
Cosy ..
n.
Great atmosphere good for a meal before or after a show and great selection of beers and ciders
N. C.
Had really. Good fish and chips.fast service and helpful staff
It was busy but staff Very good
M. T.
Good priced food and drink at an ideal location for southside of the city. Can be very busy at times with local theatre trade.
D. L.
Standard wetherspoons pub as you would expect.
Had a large breakfast which they missed off the hash browns. I'm sure they would have sorted it if I had told them but I was in a rush.
D. S.
Nice friendly pub...a good mix of different characters..Nicely situated for clubs..Great food..Friendly staff..
J. P.
Nice pub but they need more staff on busy nights. It can take a while to be served at the bar
A. L.
The food was really delicious and table service was really good. Do recommend telling a friend!
J. B.
Usual Wetherspoon food, quick service, busy town pub atmosphere. Handy for Hippodrome.
D. M.
Love, cosy pub. Good value for money and we'll situated for pre drinks and/or food for Hippodrome Theatre.

Typical chain pub avoid if busy but nice food and good prices for brum
E. W.
It's a Wetherspoons so cheap and cheerful. Went at a quiet time so very quick service. Just across from NT Back to Backs .
M. T.
Large busy wetherspoons. Cheap and cheerful, with very efficient staff and decent food and beer for the price
A. S.
Half decent spoons, under staffed for the last visit but they did their best to keep up.

I'll give a 5* rating if they ever have the 12oz steak available past 22:00 on steak night.
Z. M.
Very busy pub food good but tables not cleared often enough
D. I.
Good pub, typical wetherspoons food and drink. Kinda cramped inside, but can feel cozy at times.
S. M.
The food was very nice, staff were helpful. Had trouble finding it as it says it's in the Chinese quarter.
H. H.
Someone was transphobic towards my friend and the staff went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable.
Top lads
A. C.
Good choice of food and drink. . great atmosphere and friendly staff.
D. W.
i would just like to say thank you, to the lads in the dragon inn china town, that returned my wallet in tact, to the bar staff. it might sound silly but it has restored my faith in human nature , i was gob smacked! thanks!
S. J. B.
Great food, great drinks and great prices. Exactly what you expect and get from a wetherspoons 😁
s. m.
Spoons is spoons one of the quieter ones when theres not a show on at the hipodrome which is 2 mins walk away quick food and great staff
N. O.
Regular Wetherspoon pub. Always seems very busy so sometimes it's hard to get seating. This is really the only reason I've given 4 instead of 5 points.
b. p.
Great little place. Lovely staff.
S. M.
The 5 bean chili was amazing and the American pancakes were light and fluffy - just like being back in New York :)
M.
Great place to chat and have drinks, booths and benches are comfortable. Staff are pleasant and the service is good
M. H.
Pretty good spoons. Because its it's a spoons drinks are cheap anyway so it's a good to place go to before a club
W. D.
Typical Wetherspoons. Nicer than the other city centre offerings. Still suffers from sticky tables and a strange odour.
