Came here when they first opened. Food was great. Came back after the rebfurb it's actually so much better. The food is still good as ever. The atmosphere is bang on. It has a real community vibe. Only issue is the pool room's TV is a little loud 😂

Consistency is key. In my opinion this is the best mixed grill in the area. Always start here for food. Then head to other local eateries nearby. Always check this establishment out first then decide which is good. Service is on point but soft drinks can be a tad pricey otherwise the benchmark.

Food came out suspiciously quick. The portions are good in general especially on the sizzler. Food tastes a bit undercooked, lamb sheesh was not very good. Its okay if your not expecting a great meal but just some quick food.

Second time i collected my order, Today the sheikh kebabs where not fresh, Hard in places and looked as if yesterdays left overs where warmed up and given to a unsuspecting customer. About two weeks initially ordered lamb,chicken korma curries again the meat (lamb) was hard as nails not worth £10 asking price, the plain nans had seen better days. Grove pub seems to lost its standards not as great, back in its hay days. Get your act togeather and stop taking advantage of customer who collect. Customers pay good money in hard times and deserve better. UPDATE. ordered same as before large mixed grill Must say it was excellent well cooked and hot. Excellent all round well worth the money . Regards to the grove pub for the inprovement this is what people deserve quality food and quantity for the price.

My lady and I had to drive to Birmingham to pick up a bike. After getting lost and finally collecting it, we were well ready for a beer and a rast. This was the closest Bar to us so we called in to de-steam. Running by Asians it wasn't supprisng to smell curry. Subsequently, my lady picked up a menu and to my surprise, it read like a takeaway or good restaurant. Eat in or take out. Beers agast and at a very reasonable price for a bar in Birmingham suburbs. This has to be a fiver.

While visiting from California, our family took us to The Grove Bar & Restaurant for a proper pub and mixed grill experience. 😋 This is the first time I've tried a Mixed Grill and it was AMAZING! There was also a paneer skillet that they brought out, everything was delicious. The meat was tender, the sharp little chili peppers added the perfect little kick, and the sauces were perfectly complimentary. I might stop here before I visit family next time! 😄

Food is superb! Not too fancy, just a local boozer with stunning food. Love the fact that there is no waste as there is the opportunity to take food home if it doesn't get eaten there. Never been disappointed with any visit and there has been numerous!

Only thing lacking was the table service but this is easily overlooked and the waitress did a good job at keeping the tables completely spotless and clean. Mixed grill didn't come with Naan etc which is disappointing as I only realised when I took it home! Still, wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Our favourite family munch. We feed 6 of us for £40 & have a table full of good food. Staff are so friendly to & keep it very clean. Nice chilled out bar with lots of big screens for the footy. We love the mixed grill platter & the kids love the chicken wings.

Great food. Staff are lovely, building is no frills, food is always fresh, hot, delicious & flavoursome. Portions are a good size & presented well. This establishment is partaking in the 'Eat out to help out' initiative during August so its an absolute bargain. The mixed grill is a must & the naan is light and fluffy. The balti is my go to sauce here as the flavour is on point. Tables are quickly cleaned & the waiting time for food has never been a problem. Sitting waiting for food while piping hot, smoking grills waft past you is a killer, thankfully that's not the case. There's usually some sport on one of the many screens & pool tables up by the bar area. I dont have any criticism just a suggestion, maybe add a selection of ice cream (we grab a mcflurry on our way home, as its convenient & cheap, but would gladly give The Grove our money instead)

My Wife and I went there with friends for an evening meal and we were very pleasantly surprised to find an excellent menu of Indian food. It is a pub reinvented for the area with an exceptionally well stocked bar both in terms of beers larger ciders and spirits and the food is not only brilliant but very well cooked and very quickly ready for eating. It gets very busy and crowded which is always a good sign in my opinion. The meals we had wet fantastic with the mixed grill and Tandoori fish as highlights and the portions were huge.

Great Asian pub restaurant. There are many of these places popping up now and have to say this place is a great find. Very simple minimalist decor, but the crowd don't come here for the decor...here it's all about the food. It's great! Mixed grills are excellent, tasty, spicy and served quick! Prices are cheap too! I'm impressed with the system, it's almost served like fast food but the quality of the food is better than most restaurants. You place your order at the kitchen window, you receive a pager, when the pager goes off you collect your food on a serving tray from said window. You get your own cutlery, sauces etc and if you want to pack up your food to take it away their are foil cartons available for you to pack it up...very efficiently organised, no messing around! Although, it's not a place for a romantic first date, it is a popular hangout for football fans and the crowd can sometimes be mostly male, but there is an increasing number of females attending the pub which gives it a good mix and therefore stands out from your average gentleman's social club. Overall...great service and brilliant food at a great price!

Very average Desi Pub. Used to be way better. The nan bread was stodgy and soggy and nothing like the amazing crispy breads at other establishments. The food arrived within 5 mins, that is never a good sign and it meant out curry was not individually cooked to order. I will stick with the Red Lion, Vine or the New Hen and Chickens. I didn't try the mixed grill so I can't comment on that aspect. The Grove has dropped the ball since my last visit and must seriously improve in order to compete the best Desi pubs.

The Grove prides itself as one of the best Restaurants in the Handsworth area having a varied Indian and Asian menu for the public. The prices are decent (more like in the medium range), not too expensive, but not unusually cheap too. One of the best things I like with this place is the fact that you get more than you paid for. It's very common to see people having a takeaway of their food that they've been unable to finish. They operate from Monday to Sunday and opens till late. Drinks might be quite expensive though and you're not allowed to bring or consume any food or drinks bought outside the premises.

Good not great, I have been here a number of times and when I first started to eat here the food was delicious and it still is BUT my family and I ordered Currie's and for me personally they tasted the same even if it was a Madras or bhuna. It was busy and it was a nice atmosphere like most days but I feel it's got to a point where it's push it out asap which is fine but no one is paying attention to the dishes as much.

Not a very good experience.ordered the mixed chicken when it arrived the chicken wing's and the chicken pieces where Raw. We took it back and complained the guy was very apologetic. We where give several new pieces i was not impressed because i was unable to see past the raw chicken earlier. We also ordered the fish that was Bland and tasteless. Been going to the Grove for year's usually the food is very nice. So what has happened have you changed the chef. Very disappointed.

This has to be one of the best places to go for a curry. I am indian so i know my stuff. Its the closest to home cooked you can get. Its not a posh place, but very kind of walk in and make yourself at home. All walks of people go there and that makes it even more special. You order at the counter and they buzz you when your food is ready, no table service, but that is part of the experience. There is a bar and pool table there, TV to watch football, lovely local homely kind of place

Mixed grill and lamb chops are great starters with chili chips and garlic naan as my favourite menu, decent prices but usually very busy in peak times with decent amount of parking you can always find some where to stop, plenty of screens so you can always view the current relevant sport of the day. Overall a great experience.

Traditional Victorian era pub which branched out into serving traditional Indian food and Indian barbecue taking that combination to the ‘next level’ leaving other pubs in Handsworth trying but failing to copy the formula. The Grove pub used to have two bars; one of these was extended to create a restaurant area. Now the two areas, the ‘old’ bar and the newer restaurant side have two distinct vibes. The bar area on the food side has a weird mix; a few loud, aggressively drunk, regulars and diners enjoying the tasty food which comes in large portions. The crowd tends to be largely male but increasingly families and couples are dining here. Increasingly there is a mixed crowd but can be quite a ‘lad’s boozer’ atmosphere sometimes. The mixed grill is one of the most popular dishes being served on a sizzling platter when eating in and is delicious with the chicken tikka and lamb chops being the highlight. In fact, it might be worthwhile getting these two along with the paneer tikka as individual dishes. The menu has an extensive offering of curries but these are mediocre and more often than not swimming in oil. The naan and rotis are fresh and taste great. Regarding the facilities, there are big TVs on every wall and showing sports. A token pool table in the corner is a legacy of the ‘old’ pub. Car park is large but the toilet facilities are a disgrace. Décor is great if you like photos of Princess Diana, signed Liverpool and West Brom football shirts and pictures of fruit. An interesting tasty night out – recommended as long as you’re not expecting an upmarket dining experience in an art gallery setting.

Cracking currys for about £3 to £4 back then, as well as Scrumpy Jack for £1.75 a pint, though I'd hazard a guess the prices have gone up in the 12 years since.
