Reviews of The Old Moseley Arms
C. B.
Great place and they have expanded their outdoor offering. Really covid safe and quick service, plus good curries and fabulous service. Tables well distanced. What's not to like?! Will be making this my new local in the absence of outdoor space in my current 'local'.
R. B.
For my money, the best pub in Moseley. Really full of character as a venue. Friendly staff, great curries and range of drinks also. Now they've extended the outdoor area to enjoy the sun and watch football (or not) to your hearts content. Even better, you can do it with Belushi.
A. K.
The best pub in Moseley. Real local atmosphere, been coming here for 20+ years. If you want to bypass the faux trendiness of the overpriced Moseley pubs, listen to a juke box that plays a good choice of music and all served with balti triangle worthy menu, this is your place. We come here all the way from the north side of the city and wish we could make this our local. Recent redecorating and outdoor area makes 5 star worthy. Thank you Moseley Arms.
E.
Fantastic pub with excellent beer, friendly service and excellent food (at limited times). I'll definitely be striving to go back when I'm in the area.
N. P.
A nice friendly warm welcome at this real ale pub. Sample of a lovely pint of HPA. 4 of 5 rooms with 1 outside, not sure how many got a bit lost. Would recommend for Real Ale lovers and good food
S. A.
What a great pub this is. Amazing staff, good prices, loads of space and absolutely amazing curries. If you think pubs can't do a proper curry then think again. I would recommend this pub to anyone
S.
An authentic, traditional pub with great vibes. Really friendly atmosphere and would reccomend for family and friends alike. Massive TV for all the sports and even serves some lovely dishes so you don't have to leave for some grub. I've started coming here more regularly.
C. W.
Fantastic pub with friendly staff and excellent freshly cooked curry!
S. H.
The best pub in Birmingham by far. Good selection of ale. Amazing food (curry) Friendly staff.
C. B.
Had a delicious taka Dahl here. Good drinking spot has out door area too at the back. Friendly staff.
c. b.
Traditional pub. Pleasant and cosy bar downstairs. Attended a gathering in their function toom. Not enough seats and mediocre curry.
J. G.
Staff here are so lovely - helped me find my lost wallet and knew just where to look based on our curry order! Love it. Food is very tasty and you always feel welcome.
A. C.
Nice pub good selection of beers sprits friendly staff 👌
F. L.
The food here is so great!! Always super tasty, good value too. All the staff are lovely as well. Good vibes all round and an amazing outdoor space.
R. P.
First time back since lock down & don't know why we left it so long. Great pub, and I don't even drink! Friends who are rave about the quality of the beer. Exceptional meal there tonight too.
F. M. G.
Had a chicken balti and a garlic naan it was first class would highly recommend
C. “. S.
Have been visiting this establishment on and of for 40 odd years and enjoyed my visits. The addition of good food to the selection of beer was certainly a move forward and the decent outside area makes it worth a visit whatever the weather.
W.
This pub is amazing. The beer is fantastic, the menus are excellent, the staff are brilliant and the owners top notch. They're now creating a separate restaurant, have two outdoor seating areas and even have umbrellas they put up over the tables when it rains. It's really the best pub in Moseley (even if it is in Balsall Heath)
C. M.
Loved this place, cant fault it. Great beer and food, Sports on inside and out, lovely beer garden, and above all really friendly staff and landlord.
M. P.
Good beer lovely staff nice pub.
G. D.
Really nice friendly relaxing atmosphere here. Great owner and staff and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Good clientele here too which adds to the pleasant experience.
M. O.
Beautiful comfortable and well ventilated room. Breakfast OK but the oil in which they cooked the mushrooms did not taste fresh. Lovely back garden.
D. C.
A hidden gem in the suburbs. A good selection of real ales. Renowned locally for it's Indian cuisine. Extended outdoors that includes large covered area to suit all weather conditions.
i. s.
Great old pub much renovated and extended recently and very much changed from the OMA I remember from my 90s student days. Now with Indian food on the premises.
The food is good but considerably more expensive (and smaller portions) than pretty much all its peers in the B13 area. The premium paid for the undeniably swanky surroundings seems a bit high. Sadly the beergarden isn't dog-friendly.
D. E.
Excellent Indian menu, great beer and friendly customer service
M. S.
I only ever end up in The Old Moseley Arms after going to Edgbaston to enjoy the cricket.
After enjoying the cricket and becoming somewhat merry and sunburnt; My friends and I embark on the perilous journey to The Old Moseley Arms to enjoy a few more pints and relax In this wonderful pub.
This is a fantastic pub and I love it!
T. B.
Great pub, food is awesome.. Especially massala fish and dal... Really good menu and all the food freshly cooked, great flavours and spice.. Highly recommended
,
M. R.
Excellent pub, excellent beers, excellent service.
S. B.
Privately owned traditional pub. Great atmosphere and lovely people. They have great live music nights and beer festivals. The food (Indian cuisine) is also fantastic. During lockdown restrictions they are doing take away.
G. H.
Great place to sit outside (socially distanced) and eat and drink. Staff are quick to take orders and bring out drinks and food. Very enjoyable afternoon. Pay with card. No issues at all.
n. h.
Nice pub, open fires. Friendly locals
A. J.
My favourite pub in Birmingham. Fantastic Indian food great beer (although I stopped drinking booze 15 years ago) but it's best feature is it's quiet so I can hear conversation. Amazing place.
G. Y.
Great place with friendly staff and customers made to feel welcome. Didn't try the food on this occasion but the smell of the cooking was fantastic just wish we hadn't eaten before we went! Definitely worth a visit.
P. K.
An absolutely amazing experience. The staff are very friendly, amazing food, good people, and they have taken their Covid measures seriously. AmXing pub will recommend to all
L. F.
Really nice pub, food was great. Roof in beer garden was a bit leaky during the rain so it dripped on our food.
A. W.
Had a few drinks here before the cricket, nice pub with good sized beer garden and nice pints on tap
M. T.
Friendly local pub with a good selection of gins and whiskies, good ale, and a great, covered smoking area. Screens showing sport were a bit loud during matches. I didn't eat, but very good feedback from my friends on the Indian menu
M. H.
Top beer, top curry, top pub. Really enjoy going here as the ale is superb and the curry is really good
S. B.
Great beer, nice chaps running it! Went for the beer festival on Thursday afternoon. In theory, no food on, but a very nice chap (one of the owners) heated up some veggie samosas for us. Delicious and so kind.
B. R.
I used to drink here 35 years ago when I was a student. Physically it's changed inside, but it is still the same friendly, welcoming pub it always was. Excellent range of well - kept beers, food in the evening, an indoor/outdoor beer garden and (usually) handy on - street parking. Recommended.
T. M.
From what I had delivered the food was pretty average, but it seems a nice venue from the pictures 😬👌🏻
c. h.
This pub was recommended to me, by my uncle and it is great. It can sometimes have a slightly drab atmosphere in the front, but the back garden is where the party starts😂. The vegetable korma is to die for, although it has changed a little since the the chef has changed, but all in all, the food is pretty good. When live bands play, the atmosphere is really fun and chilled. I would recommend going here with a mate... or your dad... otherwise.... you could get a little lonely. It's also a good meeting point for friends and a great place to sit down and rest in after a long walk across Birmingham.... or just to get drunk (providing that the Ale Festival is in full swing).
A. B.
OMG I had a chicken curry Indian calzone thing and it was absolutely delicious. The food prepared was fresh and tasty. Was a very happy birthday surprise! Friendly staff and customers you can't go wrong. Plus on Sunday evenings live music upstairs
D. P.
Always great beer and a good selection. Plus great food and friendly atmosphere... definitely not a chain pub, nice to know a place that's genuinely able to create a good homely feel.
C. G.
The atmosphere and the hospitality we receive, as well as the food just gets better!! We love it here and I introduced family and friends last Saturday and they too intend going back. Keep the good work up!!!
L. H.
Great traditional pub with excellent curry served (veggies & vegans well catered for). Covered courtyard with sofas, large smoking area and upstairs room with pool table and darts. Has a sense of its own history as a working class pub - also the Women's Liberation Conference used to be held down the road and decamp to here after, and it used to have a committed lesbian clientele. Basically it's an unofficial part of feminist & LGBTQ history, although there's nothing to say so inside. It serves some great ales on draft. Live music weekends and some evenings, and Becks blue & Cobra 0% bottles served.
S. B.
great local pub serving a fine selection of real ales and Indian food. without doubt one of the best places I've been too. Food serving form early evening till about 10.00. highly recommended.
B. C.
First class choice, always a good selection of well kept beers, great food and friendly staff. Worth going out of your way for, one of the best pubs around
C. W.
A real find don't be put off by the exterior. Beautiful old fashioned interior with real open fires. Nice and snug on a wet cold February day. Oh and the beer is really well kept.
S. H. (.
Great good and brilliant proper pub, what's not to like
B. C.
Great pub this. A bit hidden away but worth finding. Great atmosphere and superbly well kept real ales. Usually 5 or 6 different ales to choose from. Friendly staff, can thoroughly recommend
K. D.
A really nice local pub. Excellent beers and the food is amazing. Staff are friendly, so it deserves to do well
C. W.
Great ,atmosphere, Beer and food!
Excellent service!
I love this place!
I. S.
The curry isn't as good as the nearby Merry Maid but it's really good (mixed grills great) and still far far better option than anything in the "Balti Triangle". Good beer selection - real ales. Shows all the sport. Decor cool - old fashioned Victorian pub. Cosy.
L.
I love this pub, it's got a fantastic vibe. There's a seasonal ale selection, a vast outdoor area and really nice South Asian food. It's always a great night out at the old Moseley arms!
J. F.
A bit of a hidden gem, great curry and a old-school decor which gives the place a really warm atmosphere. Decent games room upstairs too.
J. W.
The ale is hit and miss here. Sometimes really good, other times undrinkable. The curry and Indian food is okay but not super authentic. Worth it when there's live music on.
D. S.
Fab food as usual, served quickly and great outdoor eating area.
s. t.
Private party was great. Staff was friendly and quick
p. d.
Every original feature had been preserved. The Pub is absolutely gorgeous
j. I.
Fantastic old boozer down a side street. Proper beer, great asian food if your hungry. Try The lamb samosas for a snack..just marvellous. Great for watching sports as well.customer Gary Grant
M. -. S. C. T.
Fantastic traditional pub. Great Indian food, great beer, friendly staff. Get down there. Check out the beer garden. Beer festival several times a year. Camera award winning pub. 5*
A. D.

P. S.
Great place, lovely vibe, friendly staff, great selection of drinks and excellent food
F. P.
Great food and a wide selection of nice beers. If you like a curry and a pint I can't recommend this place enough.
M. S. V. B. S.
Owned by Suck beer (Sukhbir.) Couldn't make it up!
E. P.
Great curry and atmosphere. Homely and old-fashioned; almost like hanging out round a friend's house, but with better beer and a pool table. And better curry. Did I mention the curry?
k. s.
Great atmosphere and if you are lucky you'll catch some brilliant music! Lovely food too.
T. T.
Great atmosphere. Small rooms. Like pubs were always meant to be. Great acoustic music sessions on Sunday nights Chaos Acoustic.
N. C.
Great currys and decent Guinness. Plenty of space outside in the sun and covered
M. S.
Good beer, good food, and good company.what more could you ask for.
C. W.
A bit of a smelly old man's pub, but they do a decent curry and have let is hire the room upstairs for a roda de samba. It's possible to park in the street nearby. They have the rugby on during the 6 Nations.
A. S.
Great beer and quite nice food... If you are tourist and don't like too spicy go there and get chicken corma or butter chicken... Nice stuff
G. C.
Lovely little piece of Birminghams lost history, not many left now, a tad expensive, and they do a curry menu, which again isn't the cheapest, and tends to arrive at your table absolutely piping n mouth burningly hot, so beware of your first potentially scalding mouthful, all in all a very pleasant little boozer... 👍🏻
P. B.
Like a time warp to how pubs used to be in the 90s and 80s very genuine and almost quaint - don't be put off by the immediate bar as you walk in as the rear seating area is very pleasant and spacious.
R. J.
If you're one of those saviors of old street corner pubs that still retains the decor & era of Victoriana then The Old Mo' is your venue... The locality is also embraced by the sumptuous authentic Indian speciality meals on offer, generous portions & so reasonably priced too...
Hallmark ales, lagers & wines entertain the locals & not so local patrons too...
Well worth a visit, if only once...!
b. m.
Very friendly staff. Extremely nice owner. Delicious homemade food. Interesting and friendly clientele. Good outside seating. Good experience.
K. H.
Great food which is always fresh...chicken naga is the one...it's very hot but those nagare chillies are tasty as !!

S. K.
Not an Indian food fan but the smell from the kitchen even made me fancy a taste! Beer good and music upstairs also worth a visit!
S. M.
One of the best pibs in Birmingham and also one of the best places to a curry. And all in one place. Just perfect. Get in there and have a bloody good old time.
D. P.
I worked here in 2002 - 2003, Sukh was a good boss and the regulars always welcoming. The beer was nice and the conversation good - I even found a Forest fan on a couple of occasions!
A. R.
Really good food friendly staff worth a visit as is The clock further along the path .
a. d.

H. V.
A traditional, welcoming, friendly British pub with well presented ales & good value, delicious home-made curries.
