Reviews of The Pig & Tail
J. E.
Fantastic wee place - used to live around the corner from this when it was empty and thought it would have been "developed" but this is a great little victorian(?) pub that I would gladly spend many an evening in. Great music (mix of jazz and classic soul amongst others) great beers including some very local ones (apparently cocktails are worth a go too) and even better food. Simple yet different combinations with top quality ingredients. The staff (owners?) really seem to care too. Great experience all round.
J. D.
We were very happy with the quality of the food and the service. Unique combination of brilliant IPA ALE and south asain food. We will come back again, highly recommended, no issue with parking as well.
A. G.
Lovely pub with 10 taps of keg and cask beer. Great food options and chilled vibe. Friendly service from Adam too. This is our new local after moving to the area and looking forward to many beers here!
R. A.
Speaking from a beer perspective, a bit overpriced. That said the Wiper stout I had was very good, £3.10 for 1/2 is a bit too much though .Decent choice and well set up premises
서.
Cute and cozy place with a good beer selection and nice food. Staff Adam was very friendly and provided great service!
M. O.
Just had a delicious lunch at The Pig & Tail. Adam was very attentive and friendly. Burgers were beautiful and the fries were so moreish! Lovely atmosphere and a cool vibe here. Will certainly be returning ☺
L. T.
Love the pig and tail - lovely local pub. The new menu is amazing. Was dubious after such a good residency with Lisa and pann but highly recommend the new menu. The garlic mushrooms and leek and potato pie were a highlight and the pork was amazing, so tender and tasty. Service is always great - Adam always remembers us and our usual and Charlotte was really helpful and attentive service. Would highly recommend - give it a go!

Great place for Covid friendly dining. Outdoor beer garden, covered from the elements above and sheltered on all 4 sides. Tables for 2, 4, 6 persons. Probably max 20 people out there. Temperature taken with track & QR scanning on arrival. Menus via QR code, order via the Web page (you have to register, takes a couple of seconds) and your food is delivered to your table. Drinks ordered the same way but paid on delivery with a card machine. This is because the drinks are from the pub, and the food is from the Vendor, Lisa & Pan's Kitchen (Thai) which resides on Caroline Street normally but have teamed up with the Pig & Tail. Friendly welcoming service, great food, great prices. Definitely recommend.
J. C.
Great pub in the Jewellery quarter housing a fine pub and Lisa and Pann Malaysian food. The pub is large and accommodating with touches of its heritage apparent. A pub not a bar like some that are present in JQ. Friendly staff like Lia, Adam and Anka with prices on par.well worth visiting.
D. C.
Pubs of the Victorian era, I love ‘em. What I love most of all is a Victorian pub with a modern, artistically licensed interior servicing exciting food with down to earth service. This is crux of what The Pig & Tail is.
It has a relaxed service, which may not be as attentive as other restaurants. There is undeniable feeling of calmness and warmth within its many walls. The comfy seating, bright and interesting artistic accoutrements will capture you and your friends interest even if the conversation doesn’t.
E. K.
Such a great little place with a beautiful yard!!! They even have blankets you can use of you are cold!!! Had an amazing burger and tried the loaded fries (so good)!!! The stuff. Was amazing and sweet Leah was really helpful and friendly!!
L. T.
Magnificent pub with lovely staff. The food is cracking here and along with a great selection of beer it has all the recipes to become my new local.
A. H.
Nice food, awesome range of beer. Served by Adam who provided great service & menu advise
K. K. R.
We choose The Pig & Tail for a light brunch and was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and tasty the the place was both metaphorically and physically.
Becky was our host and the she was so warm and welcoming she made us some gorgeous Baileys hot chocolate and coffee which went down a treat to brush off the cold chill from the outside .
We order from a simple but varied menu which had plenty for the picky for the hungry and for the peckish and the chef done a delightful job cooking the eggs to perfect and the ready of the dishes where a delight to devour.
The ambiance in the place was amazing with soft music in the back ground and a warm cosy feeling to accompany it, this is a great place for social gathering or a quite meal I would definitely recommend this place to for a visit so you can see for yourself what a great place The Pig & Tail is.
5 stars for food
5 stars for service
5 stars for ambiance
5 stars for location

Lovely Sunday roast. Nice food. Cure salmon a bit salty. Overall is lovely. Service is excellent. Quite a lot of all choice. Definitely come back in the future.
A. S.
This is a really nice pub on a smart corner in the Jewellery Quarter. There is a great selection of keg and cask beers. The restaurant specialises is far eastern cuisine and prepares it really well.
The pub and the restaurant are two seperate businesses; you can sit in the pub to eat but the seats are a little low. Best to eat in the back, although the vibe out front is better.
G. Y.
Thought we'd try this out, as some friend's had recommended it. Lovely decor, with plenty of old fashioned charm (and stained glass windows). Tried a selection of the tapas on offer, which was excellent, if a little on the pricey side. My stout was served in one of those smaller 2/3rd of a pint glasses, which is probably ideal when accompanying a meal.
D. J.
Lovely venue, friendly staff. Great décor, nice food menu, and a decent range of beers available. Good to see them supporting local artists too, with beautiful artwork lining the walls, to further add to the décor. Nice little outdoor area too. Will definitely return.
R. B.
Good beer, from trad to trendy. Tasty food, spot on despite a quiet night. And best of all great service from Leiha.
L. L.
The new menu is absolutely fantastic!! I would definitely recommend, and the service is amazing! Will definitely be returning.
A. M.
A friendly atmosphere with helpful staff and local patrons who make it feel welcoming. It was my first time and I stayed longer than I thought I would. I had a drink and some fried cauliflower and then decided to stay for dinner.seeing the find being served out if the kitchen then inspired me to have a
hamburger. The quality of the meat and flavour were delicious, I think the chefs make a fine effort with the presentation and it shows in the taste buds too !
I. L.
Great rotating selection of craft beers on tap. Super friendly staff. Delicious southeast Asian food cooked in-house. Well worth a visit!
F. D.
Good selection of craft beers, great food, and great service by our server Adam
B. F.
Victorian pub brought to life. Friendly staff serving a selection of craft beers and cocktails at good prices. Lisa & Pann’s kitchen provide Malaysian street food and mains cooked to order. Great addition to the JQ.
C. B.
Quirky and chic. Bright and cheerful. Good choice of top ales. Fab food. Friendly staff.
H. B.
Adam and Charlotte were fab and food was delicious! Definitely come again.
R. V.
A little pricey for the portion sizes, but the food is really tasty and the interior is lovely. I loved all the dishes we tried and would go back again
P. K.
Nice pub, good beers available (ie not the usual dross); takes bookings for busy periods. (Be advised or warned)
L. F.
Such a good venue with a cute outdoor space. Great selection of beers. The food from Lisa and Pann's Kitchen is fantastic, we've been multiple times!
R. L.
A hidden gem! Japanese food was amazing! The bar modern decor was fresh and clean. A great lunchtime experience!
M. K.
Super friendly staff. Nice environment. Tasty food. Second time there. Looking forward to returning
P. R.
Lovely atmosphere, great service from Adam and great chocolate brownies ☺️
S.
Adam was very attentive. Food looks brilliant and the venue is awesome
B. D.
Amazing food, staff fantastically helpful with regards to food and cocktail choices, very chilled atmosphere, will definitely be going back!
J. b.
Great food and our waitress Leah was excellent!
D. J.
Good selection of gins and tonics, some new real ales and tapas in gorgeous surroundings
O. H.
Amazing food and excellent, friendly service from Adam and Charlotte!
S. O.
Very attentive but relaxed service, good drinks menu, fantastic tapas style plates. We had spring rolls, gyoza and tori kara-age, which were all very good indeed. Highly recommend.
C. M.
A little diamond of a pub -😁.
So friendly and helpful staff.
Great beers and wine choices.
We didn't eat but we're very envious of the meals that were carried past us!
And those fabulous Art Deco stained glass windows!
Perfect 🥰
E. H.
Friendly bar staff, good selection of drinks, nice decor
K. S.
Great food and good atmosphere. Its hidden away and people should try it. You can clearly see that good ingredients are used. I would have given this a 5 star if it wasn't for the high prices. Small portions but the taste makes up for it.
j.
Great bar, friendly welcome.
We popped in for a quick drink on our way for food and found this gem of a bar.
Great selection of beers and find, food too if you need it.
We were in around 7pm so it wasn't too busy. It looks like it begins to fill later.
Well worth a visit if you are in the Jewelry Quarter.
S. D.
We went for beers and Lisa and Pann's food, would highly recommend the curry puffs and the nasi goreng / Malaysian rice from the food menu. Even got more puffs to take away!
C. H.
Visited for Sunday lunch.- wasn't disappointed. Roast beef was to die for, and with roast potatoes that are more like homemade than mass produced fir mass catering. Heritage carrots roasted 2 perfection... are u getting the picture... one of the best Sunday lunches I've had in a long time... thanks 'the Pig & Tail'
A. W.
Lovely bar, some great beers on tap away from the normal high street standards. The rhubarb beers are particularly nice. We had some really nice food, tapas style English so bowls of chips with guacamole, bacon bits, etc was really nice - we are all coming back to try some more beers and food, highly recommened
A. W.
Really enjoyed a tasty / reasonably healthy brunch here at the weekend. I've been a few times for drinks before, but now I've tried the food I've experienced everything. Service is friendly and efficient, prices are reasonable and the place looks great!
L. G.
Lovely staff and beautiful, cool decoration. Portions are small but cheaper than around the area. I prefer smaller portions but if you're angry go for two dishes!
The selection of Gin&Tonics is amazing!
Totally recommended for either foods or drinks
l. w.
Been here twice now, once as part of a night in the JQ, another for Sunday lunch with the wife.
It's a little walk away from the main drag of the JQ, although only a few minutes out. The actual venue is top class - loads of natural light from the massive windows, beautifully decorated (which we're taking interior design inspiration from for colours in our kitchen...) and comfortable seating.
Great selection of drinks - decent cocktail menu, good and constantly changing craft beers on tap, and a seriously well stocked spirit shelf.
Our Sunday lunch was awesome and good value. Good sized portions and delicious. The small plates menu hasn't yet been raided but it's only a matter of time as it looks ace.
Service is friendly, so overall this place is an absolute winner!
G. H.
Loved it here, a real hidden gem. Had the Apple pie cocktail which was delicious and some food. I would highly recommend the cauliflower, I'm not sure what they did to it but it was delicious and I can't stop thinking about it. The other dishes (sausages, chicken and fries) were also very good.
S. M.
A real gem of a pub hidden away in the back of the Jewellery Quarter. An extensive selection of craft beers and a wide array of spirits all presented beautifully. The food is great quality and the atmosphere never fails to disappoint. There is a small beer garden for those long summer evenings. I happened upon this place while out for an evening stroll despite having lived in the JQ for a while. Have been back many times and this will continue. 10/10
S. V.
It's an OK experience but I really don't get the whole is it a pub is it a restaurant theme.
Probably wouldn't go back.
G. E.
Good beer selection. Excellent food. Will definitely go again.
M. S.
Thrilled with our first visit. A beautiful and sympathetic conversion of an historic building in thr Jewellery Quarter offering a seasonal, simple but innovative menu of produce in sharing-board or tapas style.
Great relaxed and friendly service. Will be returning!
C. M.
The staff was very friendly and ready to help. The place looks amazing, very nice deco. The only thing that wasn't quite ok was the food. It's true they have small sizes but the taste not so great. No plating, just some prawns throw on a plate. (I had the prawn with some spinach and sun dried tomato and the fries with bacon and some chili souce). I wouldn't recommend for food, but for a drink and some relaxing time yes! They also have a great music ambient
C. T.
Great atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing food. Such a great place to spend time catching up with friends. An extensive selection of drinks to suit every mood. Highly recommended
M. A.
Great craft beer and the food is very good. Staff friendly too
J. L.
Absolutely Fabulous little pub in the JQ. Lovely but smallish outside space, great atmosphere, good selection of drinks and a very tasty tapas menu! Would we go again, yes this was our fourth visit.
G. S.
Loved it here.. went for a drink.. hadn't been before.. staff were ace.. very friendly.. tasted most beers before settling on one.. decor is great..didn't eat but food looked lovely.. Will definitely be going back to eat and drink.
H. N.
My favourite pub for a wine, esp. when friends are over for a visit. Food is of high quality.
The only downside (which you don't tend to realise if you buy more than one drink) is the £5 minimum card limit, which is a common issue in JQ. Make sure you have some cash if you plan to stay out of a round.
A. P.
The lightest felafels in the most delicious drizzle of almond sauce making for the most wonderful tapas dish I've had for many a year. What a chef!
All served with flair and 'nothing is too much trouble' -attitude Lukas.
P. D.
Tastefully refurbished, traditional pub in Birmingham's jewellery quarter. Good choice of beers from small brewers, goid choice of food at reasonable prices for the city.
M. L.
Nice decor, good beer choice, extremely quiet when I visited. I didn't eat there but the menu looked very similar to The Pickled Piglet which is owned by the same people. The food there is good.
A. T.
Offering small plates and boards this smart gastro pub delivers. A group of 8 of us tried pretty much everything on the menu. Highlights include the dover sole, pork belly and risotto balls. They offering a small selection craft beers and the decor is bright and modern. I highly recommend!!
s. g.
Great little pub with wonderful craft beers. Love the new outdoor space
P. L.
Really enjoyed stopping here for a drink & nibbles . Not going to get a pint here but that keeps the pint drinkers out which adds to the atmosphere IMO. Great beers, great music and tasty food. Highly recommended!
G. W.
Good choice of ales nice atmosphere
S. A.
Great selection of beers available and great food. Perfect.
N. S.
Accommodated us at very short notice on a busy Sunday. Excellent food, decent wine, friendly staff. Will be visiting again.
S.
Gorgeously refurbished boozer in the jewellery quarter closed for many years is now finally open again. Food is lovely and the staff are friendly. You can also check out its sister bar down gas street just off broad st.
P. S.
Fantastic food , great choice of Gin's, ales and wine but the atmosphere so chilled love this place
S. B.
Lovely staff so friendly and welcoming. Recommended beers and cocktails. We will be back for the food looks lovely. Strongly recommend gingerbread cocktail
J. W.
Had a woderful meal here last week. Went with family members from 20s to 80s and all loved it. Amazing Korean chicken. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff
D.
Bar is absolutely gorgeous with cute courtyard garden and absolutely delicious food from Lisa and Pann
L. W.
Quirky place, decor is nice but the staff were quite pushy, trying to sell something that we were not interested in. Prices quite steep for what we got.Stout beer too cold. Think staff/management need to learn more in the art of beer keeping/customer service.
K. S.
Remarkably chilled, this is one of my fave places. Staff are lovely, food is really good and the cocktails are scrumptious. Can't fault it.
F. F.
If you want a chill place to go out, have a drink and grab a small bite, but more than that, you want it to have a lively atmosphere, your bartender to be witty and quick with a joke and your food to be flavourful and finger-licking good, this is where you should be.
C. P.
Best local bar in the JQ by far! Friendly staff, crazy good food and always a new selection of beers, i think they change them weekly.
D. B.
lovely place, nice chilled out place for a pint...great barman, a true gent who was very friendly and hospitable to a weary traveller...would highly recommend and will be returning with the Mrs in the near future 👍
L. G.

J. A.
Best local bar in the JQ by far! Friendly staff, crazy good food and always a new selection of beers, i think they change them weekly.
D. H.
Nice little gem in JQ. Staff are friendly, the food is amazing and value for money. They do a few cocktails which are out of this world. I deffo come back again.
C. H.
Great selection of cocktails with table service. Trendy but calm on a Sunday morning. Menu looked delicious.
G. M.
Had the pig & tail burger here, was the best burger I've had in Birmingham. The flavour was amazing, nice cocktails, has a beer garden, very nice place.
D. F.

A. A.
Fantastic food and location. Highly recommend.
P. J.
Only popped in for a quick beer visit on a Thursday afternoon, but really liked it. Very clean, beautiful v decor. Did smelt great.
J. F.
Mixture of good to skimpy portions depending on menu choice, acceptable service, but great atmosphere/decor and an decent option for a bit of brunch
E. D.
Very nice atmoshpere, but they don't have heating lamps in inside garden. Beer and tea is very good.
C. H.
A cosy pub tucked away in the Jewellery Quarter. The food is of a very high standard (even the bar snacks, like the sausage rolls) and there is a good selection of ales and gins.
M. B.
Lovely atmosphere and great staff and the food is absolutely fabulous. Highly recommended this place. We will be back.
J. B.
Great little pub with a small but menu but lovely food, the aioli and bacon fries were amazing.
M. L.
Always an excellent selection of tapas and really great light and modern decor. Enclosed patio is also a nice sun trap.
S. T.
Kitchen staffs and waitresses super friendly.
S. A.
Nice place, popped in for a coffee. Hot drinks menu only at the bar, not at the tables. A shame the barman/waiter is in a hoodie and trainers.
Z. B.
The place has a lovely atmosphere and food and staff are both great! I'd definitely recommend it.
A. C.
Great food, choice of drinks and atmosphere. Hidden away but worth the walk to find it.
A.
Helpful staff with table service. Nice beer and pleasant environment.
J. H.
Lovely, quiet JQ spot to get away from all the hussle. Just a little.. too quiet. Drink Selection is quite small - although tasty.
Worth a drop in
P. G.
Very nice food and great ales too, but service was a bit hit and miss. They need to decide if it's table service or not. 😁
L. e. L.

The food was scrumptious and the drinks were refreshing. It's also dog friendly and an independent pub. Look forward to dining here again.
