Reviews of The Plough
A. T.
The best pizza I have ever eaten in my life. French toast is also amazing and drinks. My friend said the fish is also very good. I bet anything you have there is decent. It is also dog friendly although only in the garden. It was very cold there today and the heaters are not good. If you sit close they burn you (I had a smoke coming from my hat today) and if you sit farther you can't feel them. That is why 4 stars only (heaters should be sorted).
K. D.
Great atmosphere and food. Loved the interior! The topped fries were on another level. Unfortunately we did find a hair in the dough of the pizza but the staff were very apologetic and took it off our meal. Will definitely be returning
S.
Its a nice venue (esp the outdoor seating area) and the food that we had was good with decent portions. The hot chocolate with marshmallows is so nice. It can get busy, meaning service can take long. If you hope to sit indoors during the winter month (particularly at the weekend) I'd suggest booking a table in advance. As although they do accept walk ins, the indoor seating is popular. We sat outdoors and had table heating and the option to have blankets if we wanted, but to be honest I found the outdoor heating to be sufficient (almost tropical, lol)

Stupendous. What a gorgeous pub. Modern design; so cosy you'll stay for longer than you planned. Fabulous customer service and tremendous food quality. Could be considered pricey but Tuesdays are burgers at 2 for 1. An absolute taste of heaven...and that is saying a lot as I am NOT a fan of the beef patty. Try paid parking around the back, at Iceland.
A. G.
Great gastro pub. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. We went there on Friday night and it was slightly more crowded than I anticipated. Naturally in a close space you couldn't casually talk without raising your voice.
S.
The best food and service! Highly recommend the plough burger. Love the new outdoor seating area too. Keep up the great work!
A. P.
Great quality food at affordable prices. Service is great too. We were lucky to walk in and get a table
K. S.
Amazing pub with a great atmosphere seating available indoors and outdoor,
outdoor seating is all undercover.
This pub has a great atmosphere running throughout it and staff are friendly very approachable for advice on anything you need.
We went there for Sunday lunch had an amazing meal, couldn't fault anything👌
Even though the dinner was amazing you only have the choice of 1 meat, which is beef cooked to individuals toast.
Would be nice to have a selection of different meets, but I guess it works for this pub.
Highly recommended for families, couples or just meeting up with friends this place is great for all occasions⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think the Plough has got better and it was great before. It's a quality pub with quality food and very friendly staff. Our party consisted of 4 adults and one child under 3. We took the advice of a previous review and ordered the child food early. All the food was excellently presented and tasted wonderful. We'll done ✔

Haven't been to the Plough in ages but I know lots of people really rate it. Went for lunch with some of the family on a wet saturday. Didn't fancy drinking alcohol so pleased that they stock Fentimans drinks-enjoyed my ginger beer. We all ordered different styles of food-I had the burrata, someone had pizza, someone had soup (which was heated up on request) with fab bread and someone had a burger. All very happy with our choices. No room for puds unfortunately but good coffees. Also, I was really pleased to see all the staff wearing masks-reassuring in these challenging times.

Welcomed by genuine smiles from staff. 5 minutes after being seated our drinks arrived, not more than 10 minutes later our breakfasts were placed before Us! Lovely calm environment, excellent customer service. We will be back!
A. J.
Great place to go, had brunch there and it was super filling.
It is better known for its burgers and pizzas.
The sausage could be better and 2 mushrooms is 1 more than it needs to be but still very very good.
B. M.
Really nice food and atmosphere here. Very cosy setting. The service by the staff was really good for our lunch in the outdoor tent. It is a bit pricey here though
s. c.
I can’t thank the team and management enough for are fantastic roast Mother’s Day. roast and how kind they all was today and caring as a man had fallen out the front staff got a stool water checking on him and me keeping the table for me and my daughter for over a hour and a half then treated us for helping the man get to hospital amazing thank you very grateful and the meal was sensational best roast I’ve had out in a long time the best restaurant bar in harborne 😊
N. A.
Just never fails to make my day even on the most desperate moments. 😋💗

The food is excellent! Delicious! I absolutely love the plough because you know you can go there in the day or on an evening and still have a great time! Interior is neat and there is a great set up outside for when the weather is warm. The staff are super friendly and always smiling. They do get super busy which should prove how great they are!
P. M.
Good food and atmosphere. Menu seemed extensive, but was in fact fairly limited in terms of main meals. Would def go back. Very friendly staff. One tip is you need to stress the need for kids food first (not many are good at waiting while parents tuck into theirs).
P.
Gorgeous restaurant and a lovely place for a Sunday roast. Served with plenty of vegetables and roast potatoes, and the cauliflower cheese is absolutely delicious! Service was quick, staff were friendly and helpful, and the app is great to order and pay quickly. This was our first visit and we will certainly return!
f. h.
Beautiful surroundings . Comfortable seating. An outside area that was just gorgeous. We had a lovely breakfast, fast service with very nice, staff. Not cheap, but the place oozes style . Fab 👍
A. J.
Really nice burger. I had the vegan one. Good service. We were there on a Tuesday evening and didn't need to book.
R.
This place serves the best full English hands down!!!!!!! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. The food is so fresh and cooked to perfection. You can tell that the restaurant takes its time in making each meal, and the meals reflect it. The juice is refreshing and tastes like it was squeezed fresh. The avocados are ripe, eggs are fried just right, and if you’re in the area this is the place to eat!!

There are places that are special in this wonderful city of Birmingham. The Plough, located in the cultured space not too far from the Cbd, is special for reasons that you and I can contemplate. There has been thought poured into the details that add to its splendour that would need a special degree course to wholly understand.
There is a wonderful sense of community when you enter. There is a warmth emanating from the staff and a carnival buzz emitted from The Plough’s customers. The decor is a mix of nature and modern comfort. The interior space is immense and they have more room out back In their trendy yard!
The reason people come first and foremost is the food; It is exquisite. My egg, avocado and waffle brunch has more depth to its flavour than a Yorkshire mine. If food isn’t on your thoughts your drinking needs will be satisfied too. I loved their espresso coffee setup and yes they have locally roasted coffee to hand.
I felt somewhat saddened when I left The Plough, a convivial institution.
D. C.
Not the cheapest food, but lovely environment to sit and chat, very tasty food, and really friendly and helpful staff. Great place to go for a brunch of quality.
R. J.
Beautiful place. Always friendly staff. The perfect cross between a bar and a pub. Chose to have my hen party meal there in a few days because the service is second to none.
J. W.
Absolutely love it here. The lunch/dinner menu is excellent - I particularly love their version of the loaded fries. Their brunch is tasty but it's not as good as I remember it being (this could just be an effect of Covid) but that won't stop me from visiting again!
M. R.
Excellent all round. Food and prices competitive. Steal v friendly. Vibrant atmosphere. Can't fault it.
M. P.
Once you've got the app sorted ordering drinks and food is dead easy. The Butty Bach is excellent. Food and drinks arrived real quick. Great pizzas.
m.
The poke bowel was gross - pls sort it out.
The rice tasted like vinegar (??), too much avo, too many pink pepper corns (or some strong flavour that just wasn’t pleasant). Thick mayo just dolloped on the side and making everything it was coating inedible (at least drizzle it over please). I hate it when I pay for a disappointing meal. Look at how Kuula Poke does it.
Otherwise, lovely vibes, friendly service and I will obviously keep returning (for a safe and reliable pizza)
L. S.
We ordered and collected a fantastic Sunday roast beef dinner yesterday. It was absolutely delicious and so easy to order and heat up in the sturdy containers once home! (The only thing I would change is less plastic containers if that was possible - but the bag was paper as were some of the smaller containers).
J. F.
Quintessential gastropub experience, but doesn't quite do enough to stand out. My £16 fish and chips were alright, but I couldn't quite discern what it was that warranted the price tag.
Staff, however, were brilliant, and service was present whenever we needed it.
D. F.
Really nice environment, was a pleasure to have lunch there. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. Cater for allergies / intolerances really well. My wife who is gluten and dairy free said it was the best gf / df burger she had ever had.
S. V.
Unique pub in harborne great food and ambience.
Staff are great and it's consistently the best.
The only negative is its incredibly expensive London and above prices.
I. W.
Fantastic food (2 4 1 on the home made pizzas!), great range of drinks and right on Harborne High St...we'll be back!
C. M.
Excellent atmosphere, great food and drinks selection. The new outdoor area is excellent as well.
S. B.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Garden area is great with nice lighting and warm heating
A. G.
Great place... Wonderful location with great beer garden at the back. Grway food and drink and quick and courteous service. Would recommend. Covid update : easy to order and well arranged to support social distancing and well covid secured. Table service was great as well.
M. S.
We had a really lovely time at The Plough for my husbands birthday. We were all ordering vegetarian / vegan and there was loads of choices on the menu. The staff were all helpful & attentive but not intrusive.
T. M.
Brilliant atmosphere, beautiful decor, friendly and helpful staff, fast service at the bar even at busy times.
Quite a few vegan items on the menu but THE VEGAN PIZZA!!.. it’s amazing! On Mondays they also do a 241 offer on pizzas and 10/10 would recommend!
Also lovely outside area, where you can borrow an umbrella or take some Nivea sunscreen - really nice little touches!
Z. F.
Fantastic pub with great atmosphere and delicious all-day food & drink.
There's a huge outdoor beer garden, which is a rare find in the city. It's the ideal setting to spend a summer's day.
The menu is extensive with pizza, burgers, Tacos, Sunday Roast etc. Plenty of brunch & breakfast options too - the Pancake Stack is a personal favourite.
Also great venue for drinks.
J. C.
Great food and Beers Range. But a very expensive place.
Worth it every so often.
V. D.
Lovely pub, friendly and accommodating staff, excellent menu! Particularly impressed with the low carb version of the burger that came on a mountain of salad with the sauces helpfully on the side. Excellent experience even as a large group on a very busy Saturday afternoon. Can't recommend highly enough.
S. H.
Was treated to the Vegan cheeseburger this afternoon. Absolutely delicious and authentic texture with a smoky sauce and very accomodating and attentive service. This local treasure continues to hit the spot year in year out.
j. w.
The Sunday Beef roast is amazing it comes with cauliflower cheese + roasters and veg I'd definitely recommend it
M. A.
The stuff are friendly , lovely place !!! 😍😍🙏🏻
C. O.
Best breakfast I've ever had, expensive but definitely worth it for the quality of food, flavour and attention to detail. Friendly staff and very nice interior.
A.
Love it here! Food is always outstanding, huge drinks selection and staff are great. Food served quickly even when busy. I would definitely recommend booking ahead for a table on evenings and weekends.
M.
Love the new look of the place with the expansion.
A lovely modern gastropub with a large outdoor rear garden.
Famed for their pizzas, I had the Calzone here which was delicious.
Its an order at the bar kind of place so don't expect silver service. But the staff and friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend.
S. H.
Great pub, suits every occasion, food faultless- a firm Favourite!
I.
The Plough is always solid and reliable. From my youthful days when I was there numerous days a week. To now, when the pizzas or brunches still keep me coming back.
p. d.
Went to the Plough on Friday 21 01 2022 to celebrate my friends Daughters 18th birthday.Great atmosphere and the loveliest staff you could wish for. A special mention for Johnny Chloe and Leo you were amazing ps thanks for the hot water bottle xxxxx
M. E.
Excellent outdoor facilities and great food for a restricted menu...Dahl and breads were to die for ... extremely good service and very safe in social distancing and cleanliness. Many thanks
Y. A. R.
This will be one of my favorite breakfast places in Birmingham and maybe in the UK. The presentation was perfect and the poaching of the eggs was spot on. I felt the hollaindaise was a bit sweet though but didn’t make the dish worse.
The coffee was good. The staff was so friendly and nice. And the place if very spacious feels cozy.
C. B.
Definitely one of the best places in Birmingham. Flawless food & service.
I can’t recommend this place enough.
m. d.
Good beer and not too bad of price nice atmosphere and live music on after 9 most weekend nights
I. A.
Very good atmosphere, pleasant helpful staff and the food here is really nice and fresh. Best menu is the brunch one but they also have special offers on Monday 2 for 1 pizza and Tuesdays 2 for 1 burgers
There is a separate little food cart at the back of the plough where they do chicken and waffles! I haven't tried them yet but they do look and smell amazing. Parking isn't too bad, can stay on the main road for an hour and it's free after 5, but there are side roads to park on that are a short walk to the place.
There's a nice outdoor seating area which would be lovely during the summer but they do have heaters for when it's cold outside otherwise.
F. M.
We travelled from Glasgow on a visit to Birmingham. We tried here for the first time. It was lovely, really nice atmosphere, great food and attentive staff. I would recommend. Loaded chips were great! Prices were good too.
M. K.
From the outside it looks like your typical beer drinking, football match pub but when you step inside you are teleported to a beautiful fancy and modern high end restaurant! Simply gorgeous place to sit and have a drink with friends. Food menu was slightly disappointing as it didn't quite reach the high-level set by the introduction design and was pretty much your average pub-grub in the main meal section. Starters were varied in choice but desserts, again, were disappointing for the high price. Overall lovely place, however, the food menu needs to step it up a bit!
N. D.
Fantastic food and drink served here. The Plough is one of the best pubs I know in my area and it has a very spacious and pleasant beer garden. The customer service is amazing with very friendly staff. I love catching up with friends here or spending time with family. It's a very versatile pub with plenty of seating and is hugely popular so you need to reserve a table if you are going to go at the weekend!
R. A.
Went as a party of 3 booked for 5.30. Waiter basically 'told' us to use the App to order, we said we would rather have waiter service please. For which he huffed and said he would get to us as soon as can in that case. If he is not careful, all waiters will get replaced with an App with his attitude. For the rest of the evening, he was so sarcastic and inpatient with us!
However, the food was good, the place is lovely, when we next go back, hopefully we will have a different waiter and leave a far better feedback.
D. E.
Best Cuban sandwich I have had outside of the USA. Incredible size with a hefty serving of fries and a fresh Avocado and red onion salad@
A. D.
Lovely ambiance and good drink selection ... menu restricted in choices and in my opinion overpriced both on food and drinks
T.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great service.
Thanks to John and Tom who went the extra mile so give outstanding service as always.
g. b.
Lovely food and the staff were really nice and helpful. It was my birthday so my son got me a birthday cake and staff brought it out with candles and sung 'Happy Birthday' and with a glass of bubbly. Thank you for making my day! xx Sorry couldn't give more than five stars!!
A. J.
Great pub with a beautiful layout and delicious food & drinks!
Never had a bad meal here.
N. R.
Cubano Perfecto!
As long-standing fans of The Plough, we've been coming here for a number of years and seen it grow and grow.
We were very excited to try the pork cubano sandwiches after receiving a gift card and we certainly weren't disappointed!
Relaxed atmosphere, great flavours, generous portion sizes, colourful presentation and reasonably priced (..even before the gift voucher).
Highly recommended BUT BEWARE!
...The Plough is a very popular place and is quick to fill up - be sure to make reservations in advance to avoid disappointment 👌
D. P.
Very nice place with plenty of space. Tables are of a distance, hygiene measures kept at an above average status. We only had pizza and chicken wings (you will find them only Sunday evening) and some draft beers. Everything was nice. Not top but very good. Definitely a place to revisit.
r. w.
Lovely pub good food at a reasonable price and the staff are all very polite and friendly.
M. S.
Wonderful service, top notch decor and worth every single pretty penny
G. A.
Nice place, busy. Fast service, not particularly personal service as they are so busy but everything we had we good.
P. P.
Great food great drinks. Great place.
Need to go back more often need to try the pizza and burgers deals.
S. K. Y.
Outdoor seats are comfortable in winter , they got heaters. Food is great.
M. L.
Great food in a great garden. If the weathers good it'd be a sin to sit indoors! Don't over look the breakfast menu in the mornings too.
G. W.
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly, professional staff, food is of an excellent quality and the drinks choice is great.
Add on the fact that it has a delightful garden what's not to like! A very well done to all concerned who continue to make this such an enjoyable place to visit.
E. N.
Food was amazing. Very relaxed atmosphere. Really enjoyed our evening
O. D.
Great spot for a quick drink with friends. Good atmosphere, good prices and plenty of seating throughout. Menu is good and the pizza's are excellent. Some of the food can be quite rich so take it steady if ordering a full meal!
E. O.
We had the Sunday roasts, fish and chips, tagliatelle, a bloody Mary, and Lawless Lagers. All were nice and the staff were very friendly. The decor is airy.
J. G.
Always have a nice pizza from here i love the garden it has been updated since i was last there.inside is still nice good service and not long for a wait.
My one complaint is that me and my friend had to order through the internet and both of us didnt have qr code readers to complicate it. And being asked to do voluntry service charge is pointless, when ive not recived my order or placed it.
Maybe for a 25 year old im just old fashioned but ill tip after im finished and happy.
Overall lovely food fast service and pleasant dining experience
s. c.
Very good for brunch or dinner to be honest, friendly staff and an enjoyable experience throughout
R. W.
Lovely food and great setting with friendly service. Recently extended too so easier to find a table!
S.
Posh pub. Nice staff. Food is a bit expensive. Nice pub, Covid-19 safe with table service.
D. M.
Love this place. Great service from friendly staff. Delicious food. Stunning garden out back. Our favourite pub in Harborne
A.
We were in an odd dead spot where brunch was served til 12, and Sunday roast wouldn't start being served until 1. Therefore choice was limited, but the portions were decent (garlic bread is big!) and the food was good quality. They happily changed our table when asked, and the staff were friendly despite it being very busy.
S. P.
Awesome food and drinks with amazing great covid-friendly service via their very good free WiFi.
I. H.
Lovely light lunch with a glass of house red.Staff very helpful and courteous.
C. D.
Was setting up babyshower for a customer there. Ian provided tremdous help by overcoming all the obstacles. He also helped the customer with all the queries she needed. Will recommend our customers to hire that venue for special occassions. Many Thanks - @MinaPrecious
D. B.
Lovely place. Friendly staff. They don't accept cash payment. I am not sure there is an entrance for disables people
k. b.
Great place dot some informal but quality dining, has a young hip and funky vibe on the weekends. Lovely outdoor garden area, not so much for bathing in the sun, but for a nice alfresco setting, with lots of cover, lighting etc.
W. F.
Ok, it's nice, but the prices? Seriously?! 16 quid for a burger? 16 quid for a pizza? Almost 18 quid for fish and chips? No pints under a fiver? This isn't central London so I'm not sure where these prices come from but for the sake of my wallet I'll probably prefer to go somewhere that offers better value next time.
N. R.
Always a lovely brunch, outside space is great too. Not the cheapest in Harborne but undoubtedly one of the best. Sweet potato waffles are a revelation.
j. w.
Good value food , pricey beer, good atmosphere: vibrant without being too superficially trendy.
I. I.
Nice pub ,nice back garden, friendly staff as well as fast service 👍
Keep up the good job!
B. G.
A really good place to have a dinner or a lunch. It is a typical English pub, really good experience.
N. T.
An excellent service delivered, a mix up with food order, but speedily corrected and acknowledged in the bill. Well presented food and venue looks fabulous.
C. F.
From the outside you'll be believed to think that your walking into a corner pub , but on entire to the venue your greated and inside is a beautiful deco large open plan dining area food was severd fast and quick but still delicious 😋 and we was helped and attend to my the staff all the time great brunch/restaurant
H.
Ordered via deliveroo. A generous size burger and refreshing smoothie = both absolutely delicious. A little pricey perhaps but won't stop me ordering again ( as a treat) x
V. C.
Love The Plough! The food and service is outstanding! Never disappoints...

Will served us on NYE and was fantastic! Very polite and made us feel welcome- great way to celebrate
R. “. 0.
Delicious food (try the signature Cubanos, Plough Burger or calzone), great drinks (Aspall is always a winner) and nice atmosphere with abundant indoor and outdoor seating.
M. D.
Still the best pub in Harborne. Been frequenting here for nearly 15 years. And my family even longer back to when it had a bowling green! Genuinely great service. By attentive staff who know their stuff. Thank you guy's. 5/5
N. S.
Went fot the 2 for 1 pizza Monday. Didn't find anything great about the pizzas sorry
H. T.
Went with friends, the service was soo soo so good and the food was just too good. The outdoor area is very pretty in the evening. Everything was excellent. They have the best pizza and flat breads. Its a bit £££ but if you are looking for a good date spot. This is it
S. B.
Went for brunch with the boyfriend's family and was thoroughly delighted. The food was absolutely delicious and the place is lovely.
M. S.
Friendly staff, beautiful location and delicious food. Could have had more choices in cocktails but didn't really effect my experience and with the pandemic continuing it is understandable more of a limited menu.
F. m.
Great food, great atmosphere and lovely decor
M. S. G.
Brilliant atmosphere and food to go with. Great staff will be visiting again soon 👍🏽
B. F.
Good quality food, relaxed and friendly environment, nhs discount accepted... would visit again
C. M.
Had the Mega Brekker - expensive but satisfying. Nice hot plates so the food was hot. The beans were in a little pot which I think also helped with heat conservation. Helpful staff brought mustard, ketchup, then pepper. I think the girl was going to rustle up some sweet chilli sauce but I told her I was just testing her.
Nice clean environment. Clean modern loo's.
J. W.
Was a really and chilled atmosphere and food was really good for the price
J. H. D.
Delicious food and a great atmosphere. Used my Independent Birmingham card for the first time and got 10% discount!
t. w.
Excellent food and very good offers on pizzas and burgers on Mondays and Tuesdays. Great atmosphere and friendly staff
A. W.
The food was okay I guess just quite overpriced for what you get I feel.
Staff are lovely though and atmosphere was nice. But they seriously need to look at their prices they are not in Covent Garden 🤣
M. W.
Amazing food and staff, just love what you do here, thank you Sunday lunch was fantastic.
T. W.
The Plough never disappoints. The bloody mary is a must for a brunch lift me up. The best bloody mary I have had.
If you happen to be here on a Sunday, then go for the Sunday roast. 2 slices of roast beef with a massive Yorkshire pudding with caramelised carrots, broccoli, buttery cabbage shavings and cheesy cauliflower. You won't leave hungry.
A. E.
Had a really lovely breakfast at The Plough, our first meal out for many months due to lockdown. It was such a treat, great outside area, yummy food and the nicest staff. Thank you all so much. It's not the cheapest place to have breakfast but the quality and quantity makes it well worth it. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
H. D.
Friendly and lovely staff in a nice atmosphere. Food is delicious only wish there were more options though and the prices of the small plates were more reasonable. Great pub for a treat time out and definitely covid19 safe.
H. B.
Going to the plough is always a delight, the food is great and service is quick. Make sure you get the app to get all the deals that pop up!
K. B.
Very nice food staff were lovely Very different Breakfast nice and tasty.
J. S.
Lovely food, nice pub, friendly staff.
J. U.
Wow where do I start. Firstly we were so lucky that our long awaited girlie day out just happened to fall on the sunniest and warmest day that Birmingham has had in weeks. Secondly it was Friday and I have always loved the end of week vibe and Fridays actually. The Plough has pulled out all the stops to create extensive outdoor dining areas and they are classy. Add to that a fabulous menu and I could tell it was all home cooked. We sampled the large mixed fish pizza, the Tarka Dhal, flat breads and a selection of salads and all were first class. I skipped the gin & tonic round for a fabulous pot of tea but apparently the gin with the different tonic was really refreshing. The jug of sangria was full of fruit and tasted divine, really enjoyed it and its the nearest I'll get to Spain or anywhere else abroad this year ..... Our meal ended with double espressos and really good service from Lawrence, what a lovely guy, nothing was too much trouble. Although the pub was busy were had ample time to eat and drink. Love to try different places but I've a feeling this is one of the best establishments in Harborne. We'll be back 🌟⭐
M. W.
I have never before bothered to review places on google. This one deserves it. You pay the price, and you get a perfect experience for it. Best pub on this side of Birmingham.
M. P.
Absolutely amazing! All round.
Food 5/5, service 5/5, venue 5/5.
Had the chicken and chorizo burger. It was so full of flavour and tasty. Even the gherkin was fresh and yummy. I even ended up eating some of the grease proof paper it's served on!
I also tried my wife's beer battered haddock. This was beautiful. Light and crisp batter, soft fish, the gravey was to die for, and the tartar sauce and minty mushy pees was so tasty. Even the sweet little onions that came with it was amazing.
The staff also very friendly and the venue is well decorated and pleasant for all the family. Gets more lively in then evening.
Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Dinning or just drinks, no doubt it will be a great experience.
M. R.
Superb service and great food, it's a great place to visit.

Had a very nice lunch outside with a heater to keep us warm. Very nice experience.
M. H.
Good customer service. Pretty good food and nice selection of drinks but quite pricey. You pay for the atmosphere because its a lush place to hang out. Clean toilets.
V. I.
Fantastic setting, lovely food and some pleasant staff!

Always friendly service, delicious food and offers. It has a beautiful beer garden and sometimes live music.

The plough was probably the best pub I'd been to in the UK as of last year. They charged a premium but were worth every penny. I'd told everyone how great it was, and was really looking forward to returning post-pandemic. It was OK, but a bit of a let down.
This review isn't meant to dissuade anyone from going to the Plough, but more feedback for the Plough on the details that can ruin an experience, especially when last year they were absolutely nailing everything.
We booked a table for 4 to for food, several weeks in advance. We were sat a table size exclusively used for parties of 2, which couldn't fit food for 4. We asked to move to one of several empty tables of 4, and were told the specific tables were specifically reserved by other customers. We asked how we could do that in future, and were told this isn't something customers can do followed by an awkward silence. We were eventually moved to a sticky table for 6 by the grumpy waitress where we watched a couple seated at our old table, and another couple seated at the table for 4 we asked for. It's such a minor thing, but to start off a visit that we'd been really looking forward to, and hyping up for a year with this just really sucked.
The food had a significantly reduced menu vs last year, with our favourites missing (turkey roast and Cubanos) - hopefully these will return post-pandemic. But everyone ordered pizzas which were seriously fantastic. We also ordered a burger, which could have been greatly improved with a larger patty size though. These were ordered via the app, and came really quickly, as did later drinks orders. It's worth noting that we had a different waiter and waitress serve us on the new table and they were really friendly and generally great.
They have heaters above all outdoor tables which is a nice touch, but because they are really close and really powerful, you have the choice between no heat, and burning your head (no joke). It would be better if they directed the heaters from opposite tables at each other to spread out the heat.
General conclusion. We'll definitely return, but we won't be in a rush.

More upmarket the average pub (although still casual overall) and always busy, The Plough is great for food as well a drink. Parking can be an issue as there is no car park. Heated outdoor area but no smoking outside. My first choice for a pub in Harborne.
T. O.
More expensive that you would usually pay for a breakfast however saying that great location and fresh, lovely food.
M. O.
Excellent food, great service
R. L.
Great food and a lovely space inside the pub.
A. P.
The food was more delicious than anticipated (had the cod and chips), the staff were the friendliest bunch (especially the Ed Gamble lookalike who assisted me in ordering a boozy hot chocolate) and their garden area is suitably kitted out for less than ideal weather.
A+
T. J.
Great atmosphere, lovely food and good prices definitely recommend
D. T.
Excellent set up for covid times. Ordering via QR code taken to a website. Food and drinks brought across to the table. Totally touch free ordering system. Nice pub with good spacing. Staff clearly taking the virus seriously while not letting it kill the atmosphere in the pub. Highly recommended.
J. S.
Pub larger than it looks nice atmosphere goodfood.
K. M.
Simply the best place for miles. Ace friendly staff, lovely vibe, good music and delicious food. The rear garden has a roof over it, heated seating and free blankets. Great venue.
C. E.
Really lovely decor. Ambience and customer service. Food snd drink was nice, although I will say on the dearer side.
G. B.
This was a lovely place. The service is amazing
R. P.
Always wonderful food and friendly staff. Been here a few times and always such a nice atmosphere 🥰
N. S.
We love The Plough! It is the perfect place for every occasion, family friendly but also date perfect, the food and coffee is always amazing and the people who work there are lush! (Particularly recommending the brunch!) They're doing great at managing a safe environment during covid and are still amazing in the middle of a pandemic.
J. D.
The plough was a great place, I enjoyed the atmosphere, it was very clean, the staff pleasant, I felt like staff should be a bit more vigilant with customers wanting table drink service. Apart from that outstanding place. I could hear some customers using foul language which spoils the ambehance of the place.
B. W.
Always top class service, food, ambience... breakfast broiche was epic. Why wouldn't you go to The Plough
H. U.
This place has a lovely atmosphere, it has really nice food and a professional service.
There is a big outdoor garden with plenty of seats.
They have good deals throughout the week and discounts as well
Been a few times and would come back again
The breakfast is amazing. Pizza was really good too. And the selection of beers is great.
M. F.
Nicest pub in Harborne. Great atmosphere, food and staff. The calzones are awesome.
S. N.
Good food
They didn't the food order correct and didn't bother asking if anyone wanted drinks
G. E.
Always a great place anyway so i am basing this on their 'Lockdown 2' offering. Excellent Sunday lunch via their click and collect system. Nicely set up inside for collection. Lovely roast beef dinner with simple reheating instructions provided. Will definitely order again.
A. A.
New experience for me😋
C. a.
Nice pub.
Feel the food could have been tastier.
S. M.
Absolutely love The Plough! Went out for a meal with some friends for the first time since lockdown and the plough didnt dissapoint. Lovely staff, drinks and food delivered to the table quickly, (even though they were quite full) and the decor and atmosphere is great. Already planning on another visit!
M. B.
Went here for breakfast and had fab sweet potato waffles, poached egg & smashed avocado. Great service and nice atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing service, ambience & food. Exquisite.
O. F.
First class service, food was excellent perfect..
E. M.
Always very friendly happy staff, great service. Good drinks nice vibe, really great in the summer!
P. H.
We had a great meal, 5 adults and a baby. Our meals ranged from roast dinners, vegetarian and fish & chips. All beautifully presented and we had a little bowl of mash for the baby.. nothing was too much trouble.
Love the atmosphere, great service... it has never disappointed.
L. B.
Havent really had a dish i didnt like there. atmosphere is great. Staff are lovely. Bit gutted they took the fish finger sandwich off the menu tho.
R. S.
My go to place for a casual drink/bite to eat.
G. N.
Great environment and great food, service is on point as well.
N. N.
The service here is remarkably excellent, the staff check on customers regularly and always seem to show at the right time. I'll recommend thhis place for business and leisure...
M. M.
Nice venue, good look, good feel, polite but inconsistent service.
O. E.
Excellent lunch, great food, great setting, lovely atmosphere and customer service
S. M.
Amazing as always. Great staff very good service and wonderful food. Everything in place to make sure everyone is been kept safe. Well done to all at the plough. ❤
D. S.
Good service. Limited ale choice. Expensive nuts!
A. W.
The drinks are very expensive, the food slightly better value but you can't go wrong here. The service is good, the food excellent (I have a particular soft spot for the pizzas) and the place always has a good atmosphere. They're particularly good at looking after NHS staff which is very welcome. You can guarantee that a couple or a large party will be looked after equally well. Every pub should be like this (but with slightly cheaper drinks!)
H.
Great decor, great food and friendly staff but very expensive so bare that in mind.
I. S.
A smart place for a casual meal with courteous service and an extensive choice of wine by the glass. Prices push the ceiling of what is acceptable in this kind of bar/restaurant and menu is quite limited. What we had was of good quality.
C.
I went there a few weeks ago with my friends. Perfect service. Great food and atmosphere.
I.
Nice place.
Very busy.
Lots of families and young mums as it was half term holiday.
Went on a recommendation as a family of four midweek on a weekly offer day of Two for one on Cuban sandwiches.
Service was good.
The chips were lovely as was the side dressing
Unfortunately none of us were impressed with the sandwiches. They were a bit greasy, really didn't taste great and I had indigestion for several hours afterwards.
The opinion of the food was unanimous across all the family.
We ordered the beef, chicken and the pork individually.
As it was a 2-1 day they were £15 for two.
Not impressed with them at that price,so definitely would not be happy with £15 each. Certainly not worth that money.
Overall:
Nice place.
Nice atmosphere.
Decent service.
Food not great at all
Chairs were uncomfortable.
Beer was decent. ( Butty Bach).
The lunch we had was way overpriced and wasn't great in our opinion
Could have spent £60 much better elsewhere.
I. M.
Always the most popular pub in Harborne and beautifully kept. The owner, Adam, takes an interest in the smallest of details and it shows. Upside is a friendly relaxed atmosphere and one from breakfast all through the day. Garden is small but lots of seating. Not great for kids to play in as its quite a grown up space downside is minimal with a menu that changes very little, prices are higher than other pubs but you are paying for the great decor and service, and currently no smoking in the garden during Covid. Quibbles not big issues. Recommend as probably best pub in Birmingham.
P. K.
Okay food but meat not the best quality
Plenty of staff who were friendly
J. C.
Lunch with my friend...great food but service was exceptional. So helpful and friendly. The chap who served our table had a great sense of humour and really made our visit a pleasure. Thank you guys.
G. Z.
A very nice place with a great outdoor seating area. Food was awesome, the staff friendly and efficient.
T. H. B. &. R.
A fantastic gastro pub which brings together the whole community. At any time of the day, people from every age group and walk of life seem comfortable at the Plough and that says a lot about the kind of place this is. Food is fantastic, always great quality and portion sizes are always generous. The team is friendly, approachable and professional. Amazing for breakfast, burgers, salad bar, sunday roast and even the coffee is good!
C. J.
Love it. Always busy but can always find a space.
Staff are excellent
Amazing place to meet new people
Dog friendly (outside)
Heaters and quilts outside.
Lovely decor
Pizzas are great and good selection of beers and drinks in general.
Bit pricey but it's expected for it's reputation!
Wish it was closer haha. Genuinely excellent place! Would definitely recommend it
S. T.
Love, love, love the Plough. It has great food, a lovely atmosphere and a wonderful beer garden, very green. On weekdays they have a deal: a calzone with soft drink for £9:50. Otherwise the food can be a little expensive for someone on a budget, but totally worth it for the quality and portions.
A. C.
Great place with lovely décor and great food
K. K.
My first memories of this pub is when It had a garden at the rear and i used to wait outside Hughleys Bakery when i was 4 and that was in 1969. This pub has been with me all my life even though I.now live in Worcester. Every time I go back it's better, bigger, more contemporary, with amazing food and a fantastic range of drinks. The staff are always friendly and there is a really cool outside bar/food joint. Cant say enough about this place. Best pub in Harborne. 👍👍👍👍👍
P. M.
Great place! Blankets for the smokers outside with covers, wide drink selection fairly priced, the menu looked great and I wish I ate something off it but I was drinking. My partner had food and it smelled and looked fantastic, I'm sure his empty plate said it all.
I'd recommend!
C. O.
Always good food and drink, always friendly service and a good experience. For us it's a bit expensive for regular use but lovely as a treat!
P. J.
Ive been here a few times. It has a nice vibe to it. Service is good, but it can get very busy. Pizza's are delicious but the sunday roasts are awful, very salty and not the best cut of beef. We asked for a refund as it was too tough. I would return but i would not have the roasts again.
J. B.
Excellent service and food. Great Covid safe procedures.
You will not be disappointed if you eat here.
J. T. J.
Very good service. Friendly staff.very good food.
D. W.
Great food and drink yesterday thanks
H. A.
Lovely Gastropub based in Harbourne! Food was amazing, even when the order came out wrong it was sorted swiftly and refunded accordingly. Clean place with a vibrant atmosphere. Has great outdoors area at the back with its own bar. Staff are friendly and always smile. Will definitely be going back.
I. O.
So buzzy on a Wednesday evening!!! Great pub, interesting drinks and lovely food.
R. B.
Lovely place for modern brunch
G.
The Vegan Mushroom pizza was delicious! 🍕 😋 The Plough burger also looked great!
N. B.
We had Sunday lunch and it was necessary to book in advance to get a table, the pub was very busy. The menu is okay but not extensive, I chose the Sunday roast and when it arrived it looked like it had been plated up for a while and heated in a microwave, the potatoes were certainly not crisp. The other members of the group enjoyed their meals and the pub were happy to vary the contents of the antipasti. The highlight, for me, was the Eton mess. Don't be influenced by the suggestion it has chocolate in it, this was just a dusting on the top, not enough to make any difference.
H. Y.
We have tried Plough several times and I can sadly confirm that customer service and food is not as good as it used to be. My boyfriend ordered a sausage sarnie. The bread it came with was rock solid so it was impossible to eat it. When we complained, we were told because it was sourdough bread and that's how it tastes etc in a condescending manner. We do know what sourdough bread is and equally we do know how it SHOULD taste like. That wasn't it. Please sort out your service and food quality. Thank you
R. K.
Ordered food on Deliveroo last night from The Plough with my wife.. honestly the most quality food I’ve had in long time. Growing up in Chicago it’s hard to find good food around here.
10/10 well done!
G. M.
The Plough serves excellent food. They have shortened the menu since reopening post lockdown but there is still a big choice. I had Caesar salad and my daughter had a burger. They were both lovely.
S. M.
What a gem of a pub this is. Sunday roast is sublime and the rest of the menu isn't half bad either. The staff have gone above and beyond to facilitate my family when there were dietary requirements and crunches involved ensuring that we had an accessible seat and plenty of leg room where we wouldn't get in the way. The beer garden in an oasis in the middle of the high street. Booking is essential at the weekends if you don't want a wait....If you don't mind the wait there are many great beers, wines and spirits to keep you occupied. Will 100% visit again.
S. R.
The food was nice. But had to ask 3 times for someone to pack the food away. One guy was so busy cleaning that he did not even wait for us to ask him what we wanted when we said excuse me. He just said that he is so sorry while walking away. He did come back to ask us though what we wanted.
G. B.
Good atmosphere but one of the most expensive places to eat & drink in harborne and nothing special for the cost
B. C.
I fancied going for a while as I had heard good things . The place looks great . Eclectic style decor, some places tile, others old cooking implements. The staff were very friendly and efficient. My main problem was the food. I went for the tacos which I had seen a few things written about . But I found them bland (I even went for one that had three chilli symbols for extra heat) but they were just forgettable. Bit gutted. The veggie wellington and normal pizzas looked good and the deserts looked amazing. But the vegan pizza was just vile looking, smelled worse and my friend was actually scrapping the toppings off by the end to just eat the base. So ultimately I was disappointed with my food but others really liked theirs.
D. W.
Nice atmosphere. Good selection of drinks. Beer garden is a lovely place to meet and chill.
G. K.
What can I say ....perfect service and food in gorgeous surroundings
The team were super accomodating to my quirks and foibles, showing interest in their customers... excellent
T. T.
Lovely food, friendly staff
A. G.
Love this place, little pricey but always a great atmosphere.
a. m.
Had a lovely meal here with work colleagues. We were in the private room upstairs, which was lovely and spacious. The servers were attentive. We were even able to play our own playlist via a convection to the sound system. They have a wide selection of drinks here, including gluten free Skinny beer. The food was great, lots of us had a “cubanos” toasted sourdough sandwich, and it was amazing! Massive and very tasty too!
E. E.
One of the best pub/restaurants to go to on the harborne highstreet by far! It's a gorgeous place to go and eat or catch up with friends for a drink and the food is out of this world! Especially the freshly made pizzas!!!! It has a large outdoor space for our lovely summer months. It has an area to eat with full length windows which gives it a great light and open air feel to it and has plenty of seating in and around the bar. Seating for groups, families or a special occasion for the romantics. Staff are always great. It's beautiful inside and always has a great friendly vibe. I definitely recommend visiting the plough!!
D. H.
Delicious Sunday roast - garlic roast potatoes, baby carrots, green veg. The beef was cooked rare, slightly well done but melted in your mouth and the Yorkshire was light and fluffy. Lovely gravy just not a lot of it. The Jaffa Cake and Raspberry Swirl ice creams were very tasty, creamy and not frozen solid. Quick and pleasant service, but they sold out of Lamb by 3pm (roasts were available from 1) and by 5, the beef, lamb, and vegetable Wellington were all sold out. Nice place, would recommend.
A. F.
Great place, fantastic food.
We've been there many times and tried new things off the menu , we were never disappointed.
Lively relaxed atmosphere and outstanding costumer service. The members of staff are lovely, quick and efficient, they seem to enjoy their job and they really care about the place.
Varied menu and large portions. You don't want to miss out on the 2 for 1 deal for Pizza on Monday and burgers on Tuesday.
We will definitely return to The Plough at Harborne.
Highly recommended!
D.
Everything I've ever eaten here has been fantastic and I've been told by my beer drinking friends that the alcoholic drinks are great. That said, I only ever drink soft drinks and the soft drink prices here are eye-watering!
Id love going here more often, but paying more than £4 for a pint of diet coke is just upsetting.
M. D.
Carpacio pizza. Excellent bistro pub in Harbourne. Most be one of the the top 10 eats in Birmingham.
G. D.
A very decent setting with excellent decor. If you enjoy this then definitely worth a butchers. I did eat outside in the rare sunny British weather. Very authentic abd I did appreciate it however insects becomes a problem at this time. Inside it is far too dark and needs re thinking I believe to get a better integral for the outside. Outside is defiantly better however insects are a problem especially when they end up in your food. Perhaps some kind of control is required.
The food.
This was quite standard food however there is quite a bit of it. For what it is priced..you are not there for the food but the ambiance. The food does help but nothing spectacular especially for what you are paying for. Id prefer smaller portions but better quality, rather than simply bulk food cooked. Perhaps this is a 1 off, I did not try much of the bar but drinks are pretty good as well as the recommendations. Waiting times was quite long looking like it was brunch time?
Overall I think it is nicer than a 3 star due to the atmosphere there.
S. L.
Well the pros are that the place is nice, the lady on the phone was very pleasant, the bathroom is very posh and the food was nice.
The cons would be the price which I felt was a bit much for the quantity of food we had on our plate (the kids plates had more chips on them than our 15£ burger so much so that I did a joke to the waiter asking where the others chips were... which I don't think he thought was funny...)
Overall the place was busy but we did not wait too too long for the food so it was fine, it's a bit loud so that's for you to decide if it bothers you, a booking is definately a must for the weekend I would say. I'd prob go back for a Cuban sandwich or one of the calzone that looked massive(!!!) But maybe not too often.
D. H.
Excellent food, beer and service, but probably more expensive than anywhere in London even!
J. N.
Tasty brunch, fantastic smoothies, good service. Order and pay at the bar, bit pricey.
s. r.
Great busy little pub. Really lovely food and great variety. Plenty of tables & comfortable seating. Nice space outside for drinking & dining with a small bar there too. Drinks can be a bit pricey but your paying for the great service & atmosphere provided.
J. B.
FANTASTIC food & wine selection. Loved the decor & garden, one of my favorite places!
R. B.
Great location. Excellent food served in huge portions. (Personally I think the quantity should be reduced to decrease waste/overeating). Very well priced. Child friendly. Superb service. Definitely recommended.
M. “. C.
A great place to meet friends and have a good old fashioned chin-wag. The food is awesome and worth the little bit extra you will pay. The alcohol is overpriced however and is the main reason for the drop in rating.
Great outside seating area that in the Summer is full from morning until evening. If you are lucky enough to get a space then it is great for and all day chilling session with mates.
C. D.
Excellent food and excellent service 👌 👍 😀
A. L. (.
Great pub and even better burgers. Warm and friendly and covid safe.
J. W.
A great place to be at any time of the day. Delicious breakfast, decent coffee, great burgers and pizzas and a cosy atmosphere. Can get really busy in the evenings but they are absolute pros at turning tables. One of the most professionally run places in town!
I. A.
Excellent food at the pub grill called sizzling kitchen. The grilled food was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff where very friendly. The community are welcoming. Service 5 star food is 5 star. Try and let me know.
d. m.
The burgers at the Plough are epic!! Juicy, good portions not too much on the plate not too little. Very tasty waffles for breakfast as well that get done all day. Absolutely love it
a. w.
Really great service and nice atmosphere.
O. C.
The food is great, but the atmosphere is spoiled by people smoking in the non-smoking beer garden. It sounds like a non-deal, but the way the garden is enclosed means that smoke drifts and collects. Pretty gross. Staff seem to ignore it, and it's a real shame as bar this, it's a great pub.
L. B.
Wow, this pub has had many refits over the years and the garden is the best it's ever need with the street food huts outdoors, you can get tackos outdoors, loads of undercover seats with heaters. They have spent loads of money on this place and it's be far my favourite pub in Harbour. Will definitely keep going here 😀😀
m. w.
Booked for a graduation meal at this Harborne favourite.
As there were more than six of us, we were given two tables that allowed for plenty of space for social distancing. Defo Covid secure!
The place was absolutely spotless, and the chefs creative juices were definitely flowing in terms of the variety of food on the menu in these Covid times.
Tables and other surfaces were regularly sanitised after each course. Service was second to none and staff were lovely and polite. Highly recommended x
N. S.
Great pub for a drink with mates. Also friends say it's good for food & family too. Really good range of drinks from stuff on tap to spirits.
Bar staff are efficient & friendly, so even when busy you're not waiting long to get served.
S.
What a great venue, the place looks top notch and the food is fantastic. Pizzas are better then the pizza restaurant on the same high street and come out perfect every time. Staff are great always helpful and friendly. Was on a tight schedule once and politely asked if they could possibly have my food sent out quicker and they did. Very great full for that sort of service it's rare to see in so many places.
K. R.
The staff here were super friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious and presented beautifully. The brunch meals are interesting and great options for vegetarians. We had the coconut & quinoa porridge and the veggie sausage sarnie. We tried to make a booking but there was no available spots however they keep tables free for walk-ins so if it's booked out still go as we got a table straight away.
A. M.
Excellent atmosphere and vibe but extortionately priced drinks and the staff get very snooty when you point this out. Food is decent if the menu a little limited. Pizza is excellent and good variety here, made good value with 241 on Mondays. 241 burgers and quiz on Tuesday also good. House breakfast is good but quality slips when busy.
P. C.
One of my top four bars in Birmingham. Amazing food, great staff, wonderful beers on tap and a wonder atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough.
E. T.
Very expensive pizza and not that special. Shame because it used to be really good. Lots of topping but not necessarily matching in flavor. Also mozzarella was not original as it tasted of nothing. Drinks were expensive too. I found that having to order online when eating inside was an unnecessary safety measure. Surely one member of staff spending a minute to take an order, wearing a mask, at a safe distance, does not add any further risk of catching Covid19. It was a long process too, having to create an account in order to make a booking. Definitely not how I planned to start my birthday dinner with a couple of friends I had not seen in a while
R. H.
Nice food, nice atmosphere. Very expensive for drinks though.
P. T.
The Plough is our local and is one of the best pubs in the City.
Drink selection and quality is great, food is excellent (probably one of the best brunches in the country!!) I'd recommend virtually anything (give the Cubanos a go) Great decor inside, great garden outside great service.
J. P.
Pleasant gastro pub at the end of the high street. Loads of character and charm. Busy even at 10 in the morning. Food was good but a little pricey. If you're looking for a place to have a meal in a relaxing atmosphere this place ticks the boxes at any time of the day.
J. W.
My absolute favourite in Birmingham. Great beer garden and really nice food. Try the pizzas. The outside area is loveley too, I have spent some great evenings outside here last summer. On the pricey side but well worth A visit.
G. R.
Very nice place for a meal or a pint or both! Usually very busy so recommend booking a table beforehand if you want to eat. They've added a newly renovated extention which is nice. Lovely place to go in the summertime especially in the back patio area.
J. S. (.
Good food. Great staff. Amazing atmosphere
S. P.
Very contemporary pub, sets a standard and sticks to it across the full experience spectrum.
Up to date decor, appropriately non-obtrusive music. Great range of drinks. Reasonable sized beer garden to similar standard as the interior.
Doesn't see the need to compete on price, though does have offers on lunchtime and Monday/Tuesday.
Foodwise, expect to see wildfires pizzas, burgers and other modern pub grub done to a pretty good standard.
Cracking Breakfast, but weighs in at a fair few quid.
J. P.
Fantastic atmosphere. Love the refurbishment and the extra room .
Great variety of food and drink .
Friendly helpful staff with no long wait in both getting served and food arriving at your table .
Highly recommend for social events and business lunches .
A. G. E.
Simply wow..The place is too nice. I'm in love with the food and service. Everything is just perfect. I'm definitely going back soon.
J. W.
Have always loved the plough, recently i had an excellent experience of customer service and quality of food and drinks and felt i needed to leave a review. Gabriella made me an excellent coffee and was very friendly and offered a good knowledge of the menu and made some excellent suggestions. My family and i will always come back and look forward to seeing her again soon!
G. H.
Consistently great food and excellent service. I have been visiting the Plough for years and it's gone from strength to strength, the decor inside is beautiful and it's the perfect place for any occasion dates, birthdays, family meals and Christmas get togethers. Make sure you book as its very popular here.
H. R.
The Plough is a great pub. Always busy but well staffed & very well organised. Great food, not cheap £14 for a burger or a pizza or a Cuban sandwich with fries) but worth every penny - you get what u pay for. Highly recommended
D. H.
One of my favourite pubs in the country. Worth a visit. Great food, good beer and excellent staff. Lovely space to sit outside (if it’s not raining).
N. T.
Always great food, service and atmosphere. Possibly the best pub in Birmingham
A. P.
This pub serves a number of pub classics, however the pizzas were the stand out dish for me, freshly baked with some unusual toppings. Food is excellent and healthy portion sizes mean that you are unlikely to leave hungry, in fact none of our table finished our main courses!
Prebooking is advised as this place gets busy especially on a Sunday, also some parts of the bar are quite noisy.
T.
Friendly, lively pub, clearly popular in the area. Mix of people of different generations. Food excellent quality, large plates. Reasonable range of pizzas, burgers and salads. A few additional dishes, beef brisket for example. Pleasant atmosphere, lots of chatting with some background music which was perhaps a bit too loud although not intrusive. Staff were all suberb, friendly and efficient. Best pub type eating venue in Harborne.
Z. M.
Was only here for one drink on a Thursday evening but hard to enjoy it as it was so crowded and not in a good way. I'd heard so many good things about this place but left a little underwhelmed however I will go again but on a quieter afternoon or night.
s. w.
Lovely outdoors, great service, good selection on vegan food.
What's not to like.....
c. m.
Amazing place. The recent renovations have increase the space for dinners inside and the rear beer garden is very special especially in the summer, however for those all year rounders they have outside heaters and offer hot water bottles and blankets. Popular with all ages. A must place to visit, eat and socialise.
C. C.
Lively atmosphere and great for breakfast with self-service limitless coffee. The staff are unbelievable helpful! When I went in the evening they sorted out seats for us in the garden even though it was rammed! Evening food great too - I had the vegetable lasagne.
R. G.
A welcoming pub with lots of corners to hide round. A good good menu, including a vegan one and a gluten free one (ask at the bar for the specialized lists). I had the vegan pizza with tomato and basil which was as good as anything I've had elsewhere.
J. R.
This place is awesome. Always rammed though, so I imagine everyone feels the same as my first comment.
It's kind of a gastro pub. The food has never been anything short of brilliant. They do Cubanos Sandwiches too! Never seen anywhere else that does these.
Load to choose from drinks wise. This isn't a cheap place though, infact I would say it's quite expensive. That doesn't deter the whole of Harborne and the surrounding areas from visiting though so why would they be cheap?
M.
Lovely ambiance, staff and food! Always have a great time here.
A. M.
The place is wonderful, with a wide selection on the menu. Great relaxed atmosphere, but if you've Been? You'll know it's the staff that makes this place superb.
S. R.
A very nice place to be.
Permanently excellent service and food. Normally good beer.
Always busy but, eating or drinking, the staff will help you get a table if you ask.
C. M. S.
Fabulous venue. Definitely one of my favourites in Birmingham. The food is always a winner and has an exciting menu for everybody when you have a group situation. The staff are generally very helpful.
S. T.
If you could give more than 5 stars I would. The staff are so accommodating and the menu and food is always amazing. Even when I messed up our booking, they sorted us a table, going above and beyond.
B. L.
Excellent outdoor courtyard good food, well set up for current covid rules. Helpful and friendly staff.
D. D.
Lovely food, great drinks and quality service.
H. R.
Adam and Sarah have created a tremendous pub/cafe/restaurant based on great food and service. We used The Plough over the whole of yesterday, combining personal and business meetings, starting with breakfast coffee discussions, a round table working lunch then into the evening with the private dining room to host a board meeting.
The staff facilitated the dietary requirements of our guests who were most impressed with the "best vegan pizza I have ever had".
Tip: Do book to avoid being embarrassed by no available tables.
L. T.
Really great food and drink options. Staff were brilliant and the whole place felt very clean and safe!
S. R.
It was a lovely summer's day and pretty packed inside but will still got served within 20 mintues of us ordering. Not bad considering there was 7 of us. Food was great I had the beef sunday roast (amazing roast potatoes), only let down was the Yorkshire pudding...it was stale! All in all a great visit.
M.
Very enjoyable time at the plough. Nice food and very friendly staff. Will certainly visit again.
W.
Not really my scene, but probably the best vegan food I've ever had outside my home in Brum. Huge kudos to these guys for a great, healthy menu which is inclusive of all dietary needs.
R. M.
Excellent atmosphere, food and service.
E. T.
Good experience on a Friday evening. Food was a bit on the expensive side, probably a third more e expensive than in another, more traditional pub. But was good, both tasty and well prepared. Beer was, again, rather expensive. Overall, feeling you're resting on London, not Birmingham, but then, we were in Harborne ;-)...
E.
I love The Plough. It's almost always busy in the evening regardless of the day so it's always best to make a reservation in advance.
Food is great, staff are brilliant and the atmosphere is super chill. Definitely nothing stuffy about this place.
They also have board games available to play.
A. M.
Very modern and extemely well done up, the staff are friendly and overall the bar has fantastic atmosphere. It is the type of place which make you go 'Wow, this is nice' when you walk in. Good selection of craft beers and food. Quite pricey, but well worth it for how nice the place is.
A. H.
Last night we collected a chicken and chorizo stew with rice and a sweet potato and quinoa chile with flat bread and avocado dip. What better way to ease out of lockdown.
It was GREAT!🕺
Well done the Plough team.
W. D.
Pizzas are decent and 2 for 1 on a Monday which is good value.
Drinks, however, aren't: £8+ for a pint of beer and a pint of Coke. You expect Harborne to be pricey, but that's ridiculous.
The place is usually heaving, consequently the atmosphere is good but noisy.
N. C.
Hadn't visited the plough (or "the pluff" as I like call it) on a weekend evening for a few years (I'd been at weekday lunchtimes a couple of times) but am really glad I did. It was a very lively and friendly atmosphere inside and outside. The crowd was a good mix of ages and types; always a sigh of A Good Pub. We had to wait for food but that's to be expected at peak time in harborne. There was a mix up with the queuing system so we waited even longer than should have but we were given a free drink by way of apology, unprompted, which more than compensated. When it arrived the pizza was delicious and plentiful. Will be back soon.
M. V.
Nice local. Part of the neighborhood. Service sometimes struggles with the number of punters especially since they've expanded the number of tables. Pricy compared to others nearby but it's a nice atmosphere and the food is good.
A. C.
Update: I had the pizza and as promised, I reconsidered my rating which is now 3 because it is still more expensive than other places.
The food is over rated. Avoid burgers and stick with pizzas which are very good! Every time I do the same thing and order a burger and regret it but I've tried the pizza and is much better. When I go back and have the pizza, I might add some stars to this review.
S. S.
Really good pub which serves a good selection of drinks, both hot and cold, and also serves some quite fantastic food, the pizzas and sandwiches are of particular note.
The interior is nice and welcoming and there is a great beer garden which has plenty of sun, space and covering for when it is a bit wetter or a a tad chilly (there are heat lamps too).
The Plough is at the pricey end of drinks and food when comparing to other pubs, however, you do get what you pay for.
J.
2 for 1 burger Tuesday here is always a winner!
The atmosphere is good but like many establishments in the area food prices, if you don't go when there's an offer on, are pretty steep. The drinks are pricey too.
i. r.
Really good pizzas. Burguers also look amazing. Price wise is medium high, but the quality of the foos deserve it. The environment is really nice and it is not a noise place if you want to have a good beer and a good chat
N. B.
Visited The Plough recently for brunch - had the brisket served on muffins, topped with soft poached eggs which were done to perfection. A spicy South American take on brunch, with chimmichurri sauce and chilies. The slow cooked brisket was delicious. My wife had a sausage sarnie which was amazing, I need to know where these sausages are from!👌🏽if you've not been to the plough, expect a friendly, bustling bar with wide variety of pub food (classic and not so classic, with South American dishes throughout the menu) and drinks, as well as dining/seating areas inside and out. Filter coffee was pretty decent too 👍
D. B.
I love the plough. It's atmosphere, the staff, the ease of reservations and the food. We had the vegan bean burger and that was delicous, five star for that dish. My only comment is I would love if there were more healthier options rather than skinny white fries which were priced well too. Maybe some quinoa, asparagus, mixed bean salad. But overall I love my experience at the plough everytime i go.
V. S.
Great food had the best roast beef in years. Excellent beer very busy but able to get a table after a 30 minute wait. Could not fault the staff.
J. B.
This place has a very nice beer garden area and does excellent breakfasts. The lunch and dinner menu is ordinary. The drinks are grossly overpriced however. Service is polite and efficient.
d. r.
Nice place, great staff, service can be a little slow but that’s normal with all of the current restrictions in place. It is expensive for a Birmingham pub, the prices aren’t that far off central London prices but I would say it’s worth the cost
M. S.
A real staple of Birmingham culture. The plough is great for a few cheeky drinks or a well prepared and presented meal. The menu is well thought out and has many options. The breakfast in the mornings are the best and a lifesaver if you are feeling rough from the night before. The bar has a huge range of drinks and there is a champagne bar as well. The garden is lovely with heated areas and blankets as well as street food stalls which are amazing. The only downer is if you just turn up on a Saturday or Friday night the likelihood is you'll be waiting a long time for a table and there are not many place free from people bumping into you if you are just drinking. There is a car park near by and plenty of free off street parking. All in all one of harbournesq best pubs.
T. P.
Great food, great atmosphere, I'll be back next week.
A.
Ticks all the boxes of a popular British gastropub. Very well known for its pizzas but we had the beef sunday roast - beautiful! - not the cheapest at £16 but a great meal.
Overall this is a spacious, vibrant pub with good selection of beers, ales and a very good gin/whisky selection too.
One star off as it's a victim of its own success. We had a 30 minute wait to be seated and there's no parking on site (we had to park up the road), so plan your trip accordingly if going by road.
M. R.
Friendly, cosy and the OPM day was great! We sat outside under the heaters in the rain (inside was very busy!) but still had a lovely time, games to take to tables and good choice of food and drink. The initial member of staff who served us didn't seem to understand why we'd need to see the allergen book but the second person was really helpful.
P. R.
Decent quality food, burgers 2 for price of 1 on Tuesdays. Today a little slow but normally very good. Calzones are a good size so take a big appetite!
J. M.
Had fish and chips, which was large and tasty. Good value for money. Ordered too many drinks so they helped us to take them away with us.

ACCESS REVIEW Access fail, would have got three if it hadn't had big extension & refurb in which they haven't ? thought about access. Great, atmosphere & food with wide range of spirits and drinks. Busy, lively place, & trendy with unique decorations. Food is tasty although on pricer side, but balanced out with lots of 2 for 1 discounts through the week. I couldn't see a wheelchair accessible entrance?? The front entrance *might* be managable but then inside is a big step to get up to get to most seats* & bar. *One long table but steps to accessible loo! There is an accessible toilet but it's got a big metal milk churn (funky decoration!) right by the door & table which is too close to fully open the door. I saw several mums and a dad trying to squeeze in past person at table (with baby in arms) with real difficulty! If I'd been in my wheelchair I'd have had to ask people to move - awkward & hopefully easily resolved :-) Hoping there is a secret wheelchair entrance?! But still disappointing the extensive refurb wasn't designed to be openly accessible. Menus; gluten free available but no guarantee re cross contamination/warning of risk.
W. H.
Despite the tough times we live in their food certainly doesn't disappoint. Great service from the owner and staff as well.
S.
Totally taken by surprize it's like a different place inside deceptively large, dining area opens with byefold windows and doors to a courtyard dining area. Food was very good, service superb and well set up for covid.
M. C.
I read the reviews! Based on this, I booked a family lunch and could not be more impressed. I think this has to be one of the best pub meals I have ever eaten. Our table of 5 enjoyed delicious food, served quickly and efficiently by polite, considerate staff.
When I visit Birmingham again, I will go out of my way to enjoy a drink and meal at this eatery.
Tom Kerridge at the Hand and Flowers in Marlow has a Michelin star.
Based on this visit - The Plough in Harborne should have TWO!
J. D.
Always nice here. Great to have some excellent food and service after being locked down for 3 months. Lovely to be back.
c. N.
Fantastic food!! Cooked in quick time. Excellent customer service. Well done plough, keep up the fantastic service.
Table reservation in advance is best to avoid dissapointment. But also, you wont need to wait long - even if you dont book.
T. U.
Food was excellent, one of the best pizzas I've had in 50 years. But the ordering system is laborious even for a computer geek.
C. B.
Great food, great service.
C. B.
Lovely place to eat & relax. Food is of a fantastic standard. Also comfortable seating area outside. Staff very friendly and professional.
E. H.
Great beer garden. Fab hot chocolate. Expensive menu and drinks.
R. S.
Quick service, lovely food, massive portions. Highly recommend.
K. M.
One of my favourite local pubs. Food is always quality and on point. Atmosphere is really nice and the gardern in the summer is on point!
M. R.
Highlight recommend the French toast, maybe ask for the cream on the side though! Great and friendly staff too!
B. C.
Yeah really liked the place i have been loads of times over the years when I first visited the women staff way outnumbered the male staff which from a male perspective fantastic but equality okay?? But it's reversed now more males boo hoo but yeah they are okay service was good San Miguel was good I didn't have a meal just drinks but my colleagues had food which they enjoyed so yeah a really nice atmosphere staff very attentive always able to get served so yeah well always gonna go back.
B. P.
Highly recommend it!! The food was superb and staff super kind and helpful! Only good vibes in this great place!! Child friendly. I had an amazing time with my family!!! ❤
D. J.
Fantastic place. Food is excellent as well as the service. Quirky place and brilliant beer garden. Twice now and will be going again. Thanks to Adam and his team. Regards Chris.
J. G.
Excellent food, portions are big enough and at very reasonable prices. Warm and cosy. Crowded so plan ahead and reserve a table. Very friendly staff. And there is also outdoor sitting.
J. K.
Nice place. Food portions so big they offer everyone a take out box. Smaller and cheaper would be fine, especially if you are on your own.
l. h.
Decent grub, good venue, friendly staff. Good mixed crowd
D. S. R.
Nice cosy place for meeting friends. Chill out music is added advantage. You get pizza, fries and alcohol. The restaurant is retro style. Table services available. They have beer and cocktails.
M. J.
Premier garden facility, thourouly enjoyed the experience. Credit to them for putting that much effort in.
K. L.
Great food and environment. Wasnt as hot as should have been, however meat was cooked perfectly, generally a great roast presented well, as you would expect to that standard maybe even higher for the steep price
A. B.
Favourite place for brunch!
M. Y. O. B.
Excellent food and drink. If it had table service, would have been five stars as ordering at the bar can be a PITA when it's busy. Great staff and family friendly too!
M. N.
The Plough is obviously a very busy and successful establishment, and Harborne is tres chic if you want a good night out in Birmingham without going into the city. Or even as a place to start...
For me, it just didn't have the sort of atmosphere I enjoy. It's an order-at-the-bar jobby, which is fine, but wasn't what I was expecting for the area. The food was good, service was a bit hectic but friendly, and there is a very nice outdoor area and bar.
Good for pre-drinks, but not my thing for a sit down meal affair.
J. H.
Food is always good but drinks are way over priced and there's a bit of a pretentious feel in there. Nice place though.
N. u.
Great atmosphere here, wonderful buzz and I like the social and heated beer patio garden. Beer is decent, staff good and nice snacks. My favourite in Harborne when the weather is fine. Very popular and busy.
M. S.
Busy pub on High St , Harborne. We just called in for drinks. Lots of people dining and all of the food that came out looked excellent but you need to book. Highly recommended. Busy, buzzing and popular.
E. T.
If you’re in Harborne, you know the plough. It’s like the anti-weatherspoons. Great character, great service, great selection of beers, always satisfying food. You can’t fail to have a good time. The kind of place you could even go by yourself and not leave with a deep sense of existential despair. Highly recommended.
J. T.
The Plough accommodated our party of 8 at short notice after the place we had booked into had to cancel our booking due to a problem with the kitchen. The food at the Plough was excellent and the staff extremely helpful.
J. G.
Good food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Expensive beer. Not dog friendly (you have to sit outside).
H. K.
It's nice here, enjoyed the beer garden with the cosy heaters. Was crazy busy on a Monday night. Didn't have the best selection of beers and no gluten free beer at all, which was a surprise.
S. L.
Fantastic place to get 2gether with your frds. Fantastic atmosphere. Garden out the back great in the summer. Little over priced on the food and drinks. But definitely worth going.
A. H.
Lovely place, delicious food and the decor is STUNNING. Really nice staff as well and all round a brilliant place! :)
W. S.
Adam the proprietor has a passion for great food, great service and good quality drinks that shows, well trained, alternative staff and cool homely comfort. I'd like to live there but they keep kicking me out at closing. Lol good hearty breakfast too
N. N.
Delicious, large portions accompanied with great service.
A. d. C.
Always the best place for pizza in Harborne, fresh ingredients, good vibes and friendly environment where time flies.
Totally recommend coming in for the promotions that happened every day of the week!
C. P.
First meal with my daughter following lockdown... excellent food and courteous service..well pleased! We'll be going again 😂
D. W.
Great food, they even have gluten free options. I had gluten free pizza with goats cheese and onion... delish!
M. G.
I don’t think there’s a day I don’t think about living it up in Birmingham’s finest pub.
The Plough really is something to behold ❤️
G. S.
The best of pubs, maybe the best in Birmingham? Great food, briliiant selection of all drinks. Staff that really do go above and beyond! Don't expect a "cheap" quiet drink, but you certainly get what you pay for.
B. T.
Good for brunch, breakfast and pub grub. Lovely interior, relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic quirky garden. Extensive selection of beers, gins, whisky and beer. Friendly staff.
H. J.
Very nice brunch for Mothers day thanks to my daughter. Friendly staff lovely food and coffee. Nice touch with the free cup cakes for Mothers.
E. “. Y.
Ordered the slow cooked beef brisket. Was very tender and well cooked, with the accompanying potatoes complimenting the beef well. Well decorated pub with nice staff. Would come again
I. B.
Great takeout service. Look forward to when they can reopen. Great breakfast, cubanos and pizza. Love the nduja
A. M.
Superb. Used their private function room for a works do, interspersed with lunch in the restaurant. Excellent facilities, service and food. Would deffo recommend 👍
R. B.
Had a nice couple hours service excellent will go back again ☺️😌very good xx
K. M.
This is the place to go to lovely atmosphere the food is really good they have a lovely outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy the lovely weather, the food is cooked to perfection if you haven't been before give it a try and you won't be disappointed.😀
J. B.
These guys have customer service down pat. I go here quite often, and the staff are always great, but the most impressed I've been was today with how they handled an incorrect order... they offered a refund right away and replaced the order with the correct thing within what felt like 5 minutes. I go for the atmosphere & quality of the pub, but service like this earns my loyalty!
J. G.
Good pizza and beers. On the pricier side of pub food (and I'm not sure the quality matches the price tag) but it's still a solid choice if you're struggling for imagination.
H. F.
Warm, family friendly place to eat, drink, and chat. Excellent brunches and lots of seating.
Mondays: 2 for 1 pizzas.
Tuesdays: 2 for 1 burgers.
J. D.
Excellent food, drink and service. Great outdoor area. Service is always friendly and dependable no matter how busy it gets.
N. N.
Very nice place with a beautiful beer garden. Can tell they have gone to a huge effort, and they have a good selection. Too pricey and busy however.
N. S.
Nice atmosphere and good selection of drinks and food. Nice outdoor seating too with heaters and blankets. But it's the company you go with that makes it.
m. p.
Everything about this venue is superb from the decor to the food and the staff are all first class! Even for little ones the staff do everything to help you make your experience there easy and pleasurable! I couldn't recommend it more.
M. B.
The best place for breakfast in town. Keep coming back with no regrets amazing. Although it seemed they have changed the porridge recipie still nice but we lreffered the old one!!
Z. S.
Always great food and hospitality! Staff are more than helpful and always happy. This pub is a great all rounder, food, drink and atmosphere are spot on! 👌🏻
J. C.
Friendly and welcoming, I'm on a low carb lifestyle and they very kindly made me an omelette with bacon and spinach, that wasn't on the menu. I would definitely recommend the Plough.
K. S.
Decent place to grab a quick meal. Prices reflect the area. Pleasant staff & quick service. Very relaxed with comfortable seating.
C. M. S.
The food here is beautiful! I had the rigatoni and honestly wasn't disappointed large portion and the food is soooo good!
B. P.
Great food and lovely service, was a bit busy but that was due to graduation ceremonies being on which they let us know food might be longer than expected
R. S.
Bar staff are on point and polite. Friendly atmosphere. A well looked after pub with a great beer garden. Wife and i love it here.
A. C.
Love this place, one of my favourites places in Brum. Best to reserve a table in advance. Kilo of wings on Sunday are ace and the 2 for 1 pizzas on Mondays are great too.
b. G.
Friendly staff very clean and cod and chips excellent. My friend's cesara salad looked delicious
M. “. M.
Menu is a little confusing, with prices listed in number only. Something that is £12.50 is listed as
Long Pizza description // 12.5
Other than that, food was decent, and delivered speedily, staff were extremely friendly and helpful
D. B.
Very pleased that The Plough is constructing additional coverage for outdoor seating in light of the new coronavirus measures.
L.
Very nice inside since refurbishment. Friendly staff.
N. K.
Amazing loaded fries!
B. J.
Great meeting room, great staff, banging garden outback, premium ashtrays, branded glassware. Honestly the list goes on. Just a top boozer delivered in an upmarket way 👍🏻
E. B.
Food was good but extremely expensive £16.0 for a burger ,£16.50 for fish and chips
A. W.
Really really good food (the Cuban sandwiches are epic) but by gum it's expensive for a boozer. The hipsters have a lot to answer for. Excellent selection of tequilas and mezcals though.
L. S.
Fantastic food, amazing atmosphere and great drinks but a bit on the pricey side - keep an eye out for their deals - especially 2 for 1 on amaaaaazing pizzas on Mondays
L. D.
Upgraded our table to our own function room free of charge due to a cancelation. The room allowed us to play our own music and to enjoy each other's company with the loud volume of the main seating area on a Busy Thursday night
J. S. M.
Good food and fast service. The pancakes were really nice, packed with blueberries and bacon. Good place to go for brunch, with outdoor seating available.
J. W.
Fabulous atmosphere, ideal location for my husbands 50th Birthday meal with our 18 and 19 year old sons. Food and service outstanding we will defiantly be back.
C. H.
Good range of food although pricey. Staff are helpful and pleasant. Lovely rooms but very loud.
S. V.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Food was great had burgers on 2 for 1 offer. Only issue was no step free access.
C. C.
Great pub. Doing it's marvellous food as take away during lockdown. It was superb.
A. J.
Really impressed with the brunch and especially the Bloody Mary!!
E. C.
Fabulous brunch this morning - the food looks too good to eat and tastes even better. Fabulous, personable service with a smile. The really best customer service alive and well in 2018.
J. T.
Great pub. Brilliantly helpful staff, food pricey but worth it.
Atmosphere good day or night.
Be aware a few snobs do use it.
A. R.
Nice shop with local goods and some more exotic stuff too. Good coffee and cake
N. R.
Friendly staff and beautiful decor
J. S.
Staff is really polite and nice! Good options of single malt and blended scotch! Try the Buffalo Fried Chicken. Its amazing!
G. l.
The Plough outside space for dining and drinks is so good. Torrential downpour but the tables under cover are want and dry.
B. S.
Great pub for all sorts of cuisine. Nicely decked out with various themed zones. Always busy - in a good way
S. M.
Nice place. Very busy but got a table in about 20mins. Food tasty with generous portions. Good selection of beers too
M. P.
Fantastic food and wide range of beers Sunday lunch is the best in thee area by far. Friendly and helpul staff and lively outside area for eating and drinkind try it you will not be disapointed.
C. M.
Good choice of beers wine and spirits. They do food but i didn't try any nice place but drinks a bit pricey.
A. H.
The food was great reasonably priced it does get a bit packed so best to book a table but really nice relaxed atmosphere.
D. S.
Always a great place and now it's table service it's basically perfect.
L. K.
Lovely spacious well designed place would have liked more mains on the menu but the food that was served was excellent.
