Reviews of The Rose Villa Tavern
H. D.
Recently been taken over by new management. Cocktails 2 for 1 during January. Staff are great especially recommendations and just general banter. Really made my first visit a good one.
Looking forward to the street food!
M. B.
Traditional West Midlands pub in a convenient location. Exquisite decor, a fair selection of beers and a very good looking food menu
C. 1.
Met this very lovely guy called mark behind the bar , I was wary after covid and he put me at ease. I loved my first night out after a while because he made me feel so welcome and was very chatty and happy behind the bar . I have experienced bad customer service in the past in bars and I couldn't fault him in the slightest. Lovely genuine guy and will he back to have another fantastic evening. Also got talking to Pedro and was a pleasure meeting him .love this place can't wait to come back .
J. h.
Really lovely and stylish pub in the heart of the jewellery quarter, good selection of beer and wines, only let down is no food.
Real friendly staff
E. D.
Great pub, with lovely staff, Irish guy was super nice in particular. Only issue is the temperature...tends to be a bit too cold for me inside. If it wasn't quite cold inside I'd be around more often. Good drinks good value good food just a bit cold

We had the most magical night here celebrating my husband's 40th in the private function 'grey goose' room. From start to finish the service was first class with a real easy booking process and upon going to the venue in the morning to set up, the team were there to support and assist us in moving furniture around. The bar staff were so lovely and accomodating and they were so happy, laughing and joking with all our guests. Anything we needed they sorted for us and when our DJ was a no show, they kicked off the music system, set up Spotify on their iPad and put the disco lights on. Honestly I would hands down recommend this venue for a party. Tim and the team were incredible!!!!

Absolutely a great pub in Birmingham Jewellery quarter!! A real gem of a place!! The atmosphere electric, decor amazing and the stained glass windows are absolutely beautiful. Best of all on a Sunday evening Lisa Travers organises so e of the best live bands I have seen in years!!! A must visit!
C. L.
Superb olde style pub with lots of features and quirks that will interest everyone. Wide range of ales and spirits on offer with excellent service to go with it, chicken wings were delicious and the old phone box & penny table are amazing. Well worth a visit.
S. L.
First time visit! Lovely decor pleasant atmosphere
A. L.
5 star service and surroundings, but the Wainwright bitter, chips and burgers were average.
The spiced chicken dish was good.
Brenna - Thanks for the reply. By average, I meant the taste of the bacon cheese, bacon cheese was lacking in flavour. Also we I think we only got 1 lot of bacon cheese and not the 2nd round. I think the market for burgers is very competitive right now and for a repeat visit, especially the burgers need to be on top form. Burgers, like any food, are an individual choice, so it's good that the majority like them.
A.
I love this place. It's a traditional pub from the outside but quite quirky inside.
There's a good number of draughts on offer, your every day lagers plus lots of craft and ale. Very good range of spirits.
Large terraced area at the front for drinking plus a more sheltered garden at the rear for drinking and smoking.
Love the old BT phone box inside with all the bottles in it, a great feature.
I've had the hotdogs and fries, really tasty.
Definitely recommended and will absolutely visit again soon.
A. G.
We went to the RVT last night and I was very impressed by the service from Mark and Craig......... Mark especially, all our cocktails were crafted to perfection and Mark was very friendly yet professional. We will be back again
H. T.
Great atmosphere, great vibe and Heather serves a excellent cocktail.
J. P.
This place is great. We booked the free room upstairs and the staff including management couldn't do enough to help.
It's warm, friendly, great drink selection and they have a lovely smoking courtyard. Perfect for parties or events, we would definitely use again.
J. B.
Despite wanting to visit for many years, on Saturday I finally made my acquaintance with this most grand of Birmingham pubs. The bar itself is truly something to behold, from the opulence of the tiling and paneling to the authentic inglenook fireplace. Exquisite interior aside, the RVT has a great selection of drinks, including craft beers and spirits, and the staff were very friendly and hospitable.
A real gem! I can't wait to visit again soon!
A. S.
So I can say after covid this public house still has an eclectic mix of customer's.....the burritos and blackened Nachos are a must.
Would recommend.
a. M.
I hadn't been in a few years but was there for a do and it's a really nice pub. The staff on the bar are great, chatty and friendly and it's got a fairly relaxed group of punters too, it's not a rough pub at all. The food is really good too, very nice, varied menu. Will definitely make a return visit in the near future.
There's loads of places to sit too, even when it's very busy it doesn't feel crowded.
Nice clean bogs too!
A. F.
This is a great pub with real ale, friendly staff , buzzy atmosphere and wonderful architecture. What more can you ask?
Check out the fireplace and stained glass too.
M. F.
Very nice pub. Love the decor. Great beers and wines.
P. K.
Nice interior, nice barman. Overall, only let down by the distinct lack of ales: four of the 6 pumps were non-operational, so I opted for a Guiness.
D. D.
I like this place cos I am a towni3 yes I said it. That's me. This place has some swazz 😊💯 real brummys drink here, and you are welcome toos too and a half of Yorkshire blond
J. C.
I hired the function room at the rose villa tavern for my 30th birthday, and it was absolutely spot on. The space was ideal, staff were great - very friendly and helpful. Communication from the start was very good and the whole process was pain free.
Couldn’t have asked for a better evening and everyone else seemed to really be enjoying themselves too.
T. S.
Friendly staff in a very unique old pub. We ordered two burgers and soft drinks as a late lunch. Food was tasty and reasonably priced.
G. B.
Well attended venue, live band upstairs which was brilliant and got the audience involved. Would definitely attend again.
S. M.
Liked the decor in this boozer and the cocktails were great.
D. W.
This is a hidden gem in the Jewellery Quarter. An amazing historic building in great condition with a very friendly bar staff. Rumours are that they are so helpful, they'll even sell you the beards off their faces 😂
B. K.
Great pub, and the more you explore the more you get rewarded with amazing old architecture and great old furniture. Beers on tap will give you plenty of choices for ale or lager to enjoy under the stained glass windows.
L. G.
Lovely pub , nice atmosphere great architecture ,quiet areas to have a nice pint of one of the fabulous beers stocked here , also the cocktails are great 2 for 9 pounds! Lovely staff and a fun quiz once a week 😀 Dog friendly too
J. F.
Lovely pub. Offer cheap cask ales and the locals there are very welcoming.
Have a small outdoor seating area and the majority of the area is taken up by one long bench which encourages cross party socialising. Would recommend!
C. J.
Hired the private function room for a special celebration and had a fantastic night. Highly recommend using their private functions function room - perfect size and staff were great 👍
R. R.
Great food, great staff. Love the place. Was visiting with a friend and we both approve!
J. P.
Old refurbished pub with stained glass windows and wooden floors but with a modern twist. Located in the Jewellery Quarter just a couple of minutes walk from the train station and a great stopping point.
Great selection of drinks and have a huge vodka menu. A board advertises a good number of craft beers and they have a decent range on tap. Cocktail menu is a good size with many using vodka as a base (for those looking to escape gin...). Signature cocktail as part of the Birmingham Cocktail Weekend was a bit sweet but I think that was more because it was midday when starting.
Food is based on a American diner style. Really was delicious food but we did leave some as the portions were large and we weren't quite expecting quite that much food and didn't want to start the day off stuffed!
T. O.
Lovely pub. We held a private function there. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Function room well appointed, bright and fitted the bill exactly - we will be returning!!
G. D.
Brilliant staff so friendly and welcoming
Nice selection of drinks
Vegan food from OSO was OUTSTANDING
i. p.
Great Atmosphere For My Daughters Hen Night, Tim Looked After Us With His Team Thanks For Accomadating Us.
R. B.
Good music and not too packed that it takes an age to get served
M. J.
Very nice traditional pub set in the heart of the jewellery Quarter with a large range of beers and ciders and a good selection of wines and spirits American style menu burgers ribs and wings etc,a good place to meet for groups plenty of comfortable seating
T. G.
We were up here for the weekend, and had one of the best experience of customer service in a pub, one barman that stands out is Mark what an absolute asset to you if he could be the barman in everypub we went in we would never leave......thanks everyone we will be back 👍
E. A.
Stunning decor, nice cocktails. Shame they don't currently do food anymore. Also, avoid the noisy quiz night if you want to have a conversation with friends.
W. R.
We went to this place last night. It was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. We let the chef, Devin and our server Carolyn was on point. I can’t wait to go again. The atmosphere is gorgeous and soooo clean. This place is a must!!!
c.
Booked my 40th birthday party are the rose villa tavern, the room was great, great atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks, the room is a perfect size not too big or too small held 50 comfortably, the managers Tim and Lindsay were great to deal with, very accommodating, everyone who came had a fantastic time!!! Can’t recommend enough!!!
C. Y.
Staff are great and they have a pool table which is always a win
p. b.
An unspoilt pub in the heart of the world famous Jewellery Quarter. The Moroccan burger is very nice.
A. C.
Booked the upstairs room for my birthday party, was an excellent space and ambiance! Staff were lovely and very helpful, after the party I went in the next day and got my deposit back straight away! Excellent night had by all
A. T.
Friendly, traditional pub in the centre of Birmingham's historic Jewelry Quarter. Serves good cocktails and great beer! Can be very lively in the evening and on weekends.
T. H.
First time here and was awesome! Good beers and prices!
S. S.
The décor in this pub is outstanding. Good selection of beers and a nice atmosphere to drink and chat.
L. A.
amazing cocktails with very nice knowledgeable staff
M. S.
Friday staff, lovely classic pub venue and fantastic selection of drinks. Would fully recommend going at happy hour!
A.
Swift polite staff and lovely period pub. Beer range has certainly decreased since I last visited which was a shame. But a well appreciated stop on a hot day.
U. S.
Popped in as we were walking past and left 4 hours later having made the most of the special offer on cocktails, Def worth a visit, great atmosphere and very friendly staff
L. A.
Beautiful period building, lively genuine working class environment, great atmosphere
A. R.
Great pub with great atmosphere, great beer selection
L. W.
Staff seemed stressed and almost feel like you're an inconvenience, unfortunately will think twice about going in there again as it was quite awkward
S. S.
Good proper pub, even with Covid restrictions. Friendly staff.
Would have loved to have been brave enough to have a go through the cocktail menu.
J. S.
Lovely old pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff, good drink. Great upstairs party room.
S. F.
Incredible building and good food. Well worth a visit.
H. R.
It has a stunning interior. However, Birmingham Breweries Bitter (4.1%) is £5.50 per pint, and peanuts are £1.50.
C. C.
Pleasant enough pub with some good beers. They've always had at least one Chase vodka on our infrequent visits. Burgers and hot dogs pretty good and chili, chips and cheese excellent value. A rather splendid comedy night once a month (usually the first Tuesday, I think) which is also excellent value.
N. O.
Nice place. Very friendly staff. We often hire upstairs room for functions.
Lots of food and drink options.
P. H.
Been using the rvt for years so flying past I popped in for a drink and food for a change.
I normally just have a drink but as my daughter was with me, we ordered food too.
the bacon and cheese burger was OK so my daughter said and I had 6 wings in a cola and onion sauce.
unfortunately they was not cooked fresh and tasted like Iceland microwave wings with fresh garnish on top.
the staff are nice and friendly plus the pub is fantastic, but same can't be said about the food.
S. Q.
Lovely food, lively atmosphere, great cocktails, definitely worth the visit!
C. K.
Good pub and decent prices, though your definitely not pay for good customer service.
BE AWARE: They no longer offer food here.
S. C.
Great pub,good food friendly staff
M. M.
A cool dive style pub with unique interior and layout. The food was delicious and we was taken back by the quality. It's rare to get such a flavourful meal in a pub and it looked like it had been cooked fresh instead of the usual microwaved stuff you find down spoons. A good selection of drinks available too!
H. T.
Cool place, old school ceramic tiled decor like a London underground station. Cocktails are cheap and taste pretty good for what you pay. Go at happy hour and its even better. Normal alcoholic drink range otherwise as you would expect. American style food like burgers and hotdogs, again good value for money. Would 100% go back again. Keep it up.
P. W.
We have been to this pub twice as we had to collect items from the nearby plethora of jewellers. It's a fantastic old looking building with a certain Peaky Blinders feel. They do a good selection of drinks and food ideal for lunch. Staff were great and service was quick who h was good as it was busy.
C. P.
Macuarley made us feel so welcome & has the best customer service along with the rest of the staff! Drinks were lovely & can't wait to visit again;
S. G.
Lovely quaint place. We were in the function room upstairs and what a great place to hold a do! Dedicated bar upstairs with the option to go downstairs for a larger selection of drinks. Food provided as part of the function was excellent. Staff were attentive and pleasant what more can you want!
I.
Was in here with the Father in law as well.😄
Good selection of beer.
Discount off food if you have independent Birmingham card. ( Well worth it).
The plum porter is cracking.
Staff ok. Laid back.
Nice area outside but gets busy.
T. N.
Lovely traditional pub in the heart of the jewellrey quarter. Sad part is there is a limited menu so we ate somewhere else. I love the vintage decoration inside though and they serve ales as well as the regulars plus happy hour cocktails till 7pm
M. W.
Service was ok, but the food took ages to come and was average at best. We ordered the Cheesy Geezer burgers, whoever cooked them forgot to add the blue cheese, and the french fries were overcooked and very dry. This was on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't particularly busy. I have eaten here before and always found the food to be really enjoyable, some of the best burgers in town tbf. So this visit was a little disappointing.
J. C.
Very friendly staff, welcoming. Great selection of drinks range. Food absolutely perfect. To be honest first looks at the place you kinda think wetherspoons. Well your wrong! Lovely atmosphere and i can't fault the food. Will definitely add to my list of places to come again 👌
C. C.
Beautiful pub, the staff are great and friendly and the food is great. They have daily offers on for food and drink and an amazing selection of hot sauces. The pub is a listed building and has been decorated to enhance that, it’s really worth going to see! There’s also a function room upstairs which I’ve been too which is really nice too if your looking to host an event.
A.
Was here on an early Sun afternoon and it was a lovely atmosphere with decent music playing and a well mix of seniors and younger customers. And look at the pictures.. not much to add to those. Beer Burger was a goo recommendation from the bar tender and the IPA made me even happier. Cheers!
D. D.
Great pub , food is good , good beer and cocktails was my previous 5* review
Went last night after lockdown ! It doesn't seem to have the same atmosphere the last half a dozen times i have been there ! It seems big dark and empty as if someone hasn't paid the light bill ( not due to social distancing) . The social distancing is strange, on every table there is card with 4 step explanation about the process and using a track and trace app . We only washed our hands at the door . Their web site says they are IN the government EAT OUT SYSTEM but after ordering our food we were given the full £53 bill for food ( minus drinks for 4 people) . When we questioned it the staff didn't seem to know anything aboout the scheme and how it worked ! They were polite and friendly about it and knocked £10 off the bill saying something about we didn't spend enough . We aren't skint or after a free meal so we just paid . However we checked at the next pub down the road to confirm the EAT OUT scheme which is' 50% off your meal up to £10 per person with no minimum spend ' . So we should have gotten £26.50 government discount by my calculations ?? Anyway the food was just OK but everybody ate most of it because we hadn't eaten all day due to circumstances . We didn't think much of the beer they only had two ales on ( understandably ) both were a bit flat and tasteless . The waitress was friendly , the staff were friendly there was no row about the EAT OUT scheme ( lifes too short ) so reduced score to 3 * . It's not a great pub which is shame because it was much better 3 years ago .
T. P.
Always a friendly bunch of staff! Great selection on local ales 👌 Dog friendly and supporters of local artists.
D. V.
Trendy crowd and has a good atmosphere. They have squeezed in some seating outside too which is nice in the summer. Food is the usual selection of the trendy pubs. Prices are a little high but you can get loyalty vouchers. Good selection of drinks too.
M. L.
Really nice place. There's quite some space with a large room upstairs available for groups and things like that. The beer selection is good and food looked amazing (I haven't tasted it though). Staff were helpful and brought some chairs upstairs when we requested it. Can't complain.
I. M.
It should really have been given 5*, but we did have to complain about the chicken burger, as for £10 you do expect to get some chicken!
However, the staff could not have been more apologetic and speedily sorted the problem, and a free round of drinks soon made things very much better.
Fantastic building, great staff, excellent pub menu, we will be going back.
M. R.
Proper love this pub one of my favourites. Would have given 5stars but all beers (ales) apart from stout was off on tap the saturday we went. They still had cans but its not the same. Never the less still a great place really nice setting always very popular
T. (.
Only visited once, a Wednesday lunchtime. Nice 'old boozer.' Staff friendly. Wasn't too busy, so had nice quiet drink. Food menu was extensive. Lots of different variations of burgers on offer. Food being eaten by others looked plentiful. I will defenitely revisit.
A. M.
Decent place. Tables a bit sticky. Some staff friendly. Some staff less so.
C. K.
This place looks really interesting inside. The building had had so much done but is such a mix of design and colours etc. But it is dark and won't be too Everyones taste. The drinks are reasonably priced in line with Birmingham. The staff were alright but not amazing, seemed a little fed up. And sadly I can't ever give somewhere with football on a projector a 5 star review. The pub was very unusual and worth a visit but not somewhere I'll go again I don't think.
D. J.
It's good. I like the burgers and chicken wings. Especially the Korean style and buffalo wings. Down sides are you tend to wait a while when its busy and they struggle with large groups. I imagine they are restricted with the size of kitchen. But over all well worth a visit. If you want that style of food there isn't any better in the JQ.
S. H.
One of the bigger pubs in Jewellery Quarter. Should be nicer but as it stands it is ok. Beer can be variable.
M. C.
G. J.
I called in The Rose Villa Tavern a few weeks ago on a very wet day. On entering I was created by one of the staff with a very present and welcoming smile. I ordered some food and a drink. They also do coffee as well as having a very well stocked choice of other drinks. When I went in it was not long after opening and was not to busy but by the time I had finished my lunch it was quite busy. They also have a small area outside which I shall use in the spring and summer next year
M.
Fantastic menu, You can tell the Chef/Staff love food and have put a great deal of thought into it. Full English Breakfast was exceptional, every ingredient was quality. The Burgers are also amazing, probably the best I've ever had - Presentation of the food is excellent. Been 5 times now and always make a point of having a meal when I'm in Birmingham. The bar staff are all really friendly and chatty. My "Go Too" Gastropub when ever I'm in the area.
M. B.
Nice pub with good music. The burgers tasted nice I had the Juicy Lucy and my partner had the bacon cheese. Both tasted like they were home made with a good selection of table sauces. Worth a visit if close by.
S. B.
Bit of a crush at the bar it always seems to me,but apart from that it's a reasonable place to get a drink and something to eat. Nice old building in the middle of Hockley .Unfortunate in my opinion that they painted over the references to Birmingham on the side of the building but that's the owner's prerogative. No great shakes but a nice enough pub.
M. R.
Visited here yesterday for England v Croatia.
Plenty of space and no chance of beer being thrown over you when England score!
Friendly and attentive staff as always who go out of their way to make your time here enjoyable and safe.
C. W.
Good covid measures in place but still very friendly with it unlike some rude neighbouring pubs!
Table service spot on, good selection of drinks and bar snacks. Went in twice in one afternoon!
K. B.
Always has an interesting ale to investigate. Nice and spacious and friendly. Never known a pub with such a great choice of sauces in their chicken wings.
S. O.
Lovely evening spent here.Staff very a accommodating and friendly.
E. J. R.
Very nice place, can get busy on summer days and weekend evenings obviously so avoid at those times if you’re looking for a nice meal or quiet pint. Always have a great range of beers and friendly staff. Really cosy on winter evenings.
S. F.
Great pub for a pint before the train home. Just wish the student types would decide what food they want before going to the bar and holding people up before then finally deciding and then all wanting to pay seperately. Not the pubs fault though.
d. m.
Always a good place to start your night out or your finish
D. C.
Great choice of drinks from craft ales to modern cocktails. High quality comfort food too, but whatever you do, do NOT order the nuclear hot chicken wings!!!! I’m glad the provide the rubber gloves to touch them!
J. J.
What a disappointment, I’ve visited this pub many times but never eaten there. Today I made the mistake of ordering a buffalo chicken burger at £9.50. It was advertised as having crispy bacon and cheese, when it arrived I looked inside to be greeting by a pink strip of virtually uncooked bacon which was sporting copious amounts of white fat. I know I’m being picky but, crispy it definitely was not. Absolutely turned my stomach! Burger itself wasn’t too bad, could have done with being hotter. Also, chips needed cooking longer. I thought chips were supposed to be golden brown not beige.
J. C.
It's lovely in here, good service, lovely drinks and lovely food. Only 4 stars as they accidentally gave me meat chilli instead of the veggie chilli. They admitted their mistakes, gave me a refund, and a free round of drinks. Customer Service is still top notch though.
D. M.
Stunning pub, well kept product and great staff. Hats off to Angela and the team. ✌
P. H.
Pretty nice pub. Very nice decor and good food. I went with a large group and there was quite a severe screw up with most of our orders. Could have been a one off though
P. S.
Just popped in. Interesting place. Good atmosphere although quite quiet for lunch. Very friendly. Great burger. I'd like to come back for a beer sometime
N. H.
Lots of atmosphere and a good selection of drinks. Ask for a J2O if your driving or not drinking, they don't sell them but will mix you up a lovely version of their own. Mine had half a passion fruit on top.
V. C.
Nice and local pub situated right in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. Good value food and drink. Great service.
M.
Excellent!!! even that it was just me, they had a table available and I could enjoy the Euro game. Very kind staff!!!
S. C.
Good range of real ales. Bar staf placed serviette under the pint glass - very nice. Very interesting Victorian architecture. Not many pubs like this have been preserved.
L. B.
Love this place, great food, friendly staff and the drink selection is always interesting. The quiz on a Monday night is always great fun. Would highly recommend.
P. J.
Just an average pub. Grungy but not in an intentional “hip” way, more just needing some TLC. Purity Longhorn, normally a favourite, wasn’t the best example. For some reason they were playing the sound from the rugby that was on through the Projector speaker itself so just a tinny, swarm of wasps annoying background noise. Classic old style tavern building though so worth a look.
I. S.
Lovely place, good beer and great architecture.
J. T.
6 out of 5 :) I genuinely love this place. Great staff, great atmosphere and it smells like pub inside!
A. B.
Great pub with loads of cozy areas, reasonable prices and friendly staff
l. g.
Visit this place a fair bit. Always a good atmosphere and some good beers. In the day you get to see more of what a nice old pub it is. The food selection is limited in choice but when I've eaten there its been nice enough and fairly priced
D. T.
I love this old and traditional English pub set in the Jewellery Quarter. It has original sea green and cream glazed tiles on some walls and the bijou snug room has sea green glazed tiles with arm chairs woth an open fireplace and lamps. Its a real gem of a room. Wonderful.
b.
Incredibly long wait for food on a saturday afternoon. Not that busy but waited over an hour for 2 hot dogs ans some fries. Good variety of unusual cocktails.
W. H.
Limited selection of alcoholic beverages (only about 6 different beers to choose from), but the staff and atmosphere is great. Would thoroughly recommend for a a few drinks with friends.
Also, if you're feeling adventures/mentally ill, they serve hot wings rated to 13000000 Scovilles. Pretty sure that's like a nuclear bomb...
D. W.
Bostin' boozer; really pleasant atmosphere. Good lunchtime menu and food well presented/prepared. Good choice of beer with a variety that changes most weeks. Always enjoy coming here.
J. B.
Made to feel very welcome lovely atmosphere comfortable seating good place to sit and relax.
c. c.
Best vegan food ever. I wish i lived in birmingham so i could go here all the time. Everything was incredible. The pub itself is very cute and staff are nice
D. H.
Quirky pub in the heart of the Birmingham's jewellery quarter. We went on a Saturday lunchtime..pub was busy but not crowded. Food looked really good so will definitely be returning to sample.
P. H.
Real quirky pub worth visiting for the unusual decor. Dog friendly, food was fantastic but limited choice - the burger and fries were among the best I've tasted but you'd be a bit stuck if you wanted something else
J. S. (.
Brought the puppy with us, no complaints from anyone. Lots of intrigued people. Friendly atmosphere, and good veggie/vegan options on menu.
s. s.
100 year old pub in the jewellery QTR old telephone box inside lovely stained glass windows copper tables bit of a Mish mash on the decor.
Friendly staff clean place we only stopped for a drink but would recommend
C. W.
The renovation works well and the place looks great! Bit dark and cold but I like dark and cold so all good there. Good selection of ales and ciders and generally not a bad place for a quick pint or two.
Food: eaten here three times now despite swearing I never would again after the first time (forced to by friends who refused to move!) Every time the food has been really poor and very expensive for what you get.
Strike 1: welsh rarebit - how hard can cheese on toast really be? No Welsh or rarebit included - just cheese on toast. Toast was burnt and tiny. I guess the cheese was ok..?? Complained to the barman who laughed and agreed it was a rubbish effort. Didn't offer me a refund or anything though...
Strike 2: Cheeseburger and fries. OK - just OK. The burger was unseasoned and compared to other places locally, tiny. Chips were dry and tasted frozen.
Strike 3: burger with pulled pork. Tasted of absolutely nothing at all - it must have taken some effort to remove ALL of the flavour..
J. W.
Great nachos, average burger, great location
S. K.
Lovely Victorian pub with a contemporary feel. Friendly staff, many guest beers and unusual cocktails. Food nice and seating outside. Always friendly vibe here, great pub.

Love this pub it's quirky a bit rundown it's like a peaky blinder set but the staff and small menu is really good well worth a visit when you are in the jewelry quarter
E. H.
What a lovely pub . Great atmosphere. Lovely food and beer . And I'm on my own but have been made to feel very welcome. Beautiful building and interior. A must see in Brum:)
C. M.
Great food provided here especially breakfast. Massive variety of drinks and at a good price only improvement is the staff. They didn't look interested in providing a good service. However would come again!
M. M.
Staff friendly but menu not so great and expensive, pork ribs very fatty and could have been cooked for a bit longer, salad needed a little dressing, so cold in there we had to keep our coats on
B. J.
Honest but interesting pub with all the olde industrial city pub trappings of stained glass, colourful tiles, high ceilings, sticky tables plus excellent non-nonsense beers & grub. Infinitely preferable to that place down the road “1000 Trades” that’s so overpriced and up itself that it belongs in Knightsbridge rather than Brum.
Make this one your choice for a pint.
n. c.
Great beers beautiful old Victorian pub fantastic tiled interior
K. B.
A typical "spit and sawdust" #BrumPub that struck me as being dark and unwelcoming and just a little bit grubby but I am sure that the beer and food was OK if a little ambitious and overpriced. I won't be rushing back as I much prefer the nearby Urban Art Bars The Lord Clifden and The Red Lion.....anyhow MY fave pub in #Birmingham is in the cheaper and excellent value Gun Quarter (The Bull's Head in Price Street also in The Gun Quarter near to St Chad's Roman Catholic Cathedral and the Birmingham HQ of The Salvation Army. The Gunmalers Arms in The Gun Quarter is my favourite pub in Birmingham although for well kept Real Ale you can't beat Black Country Ales The Wellington. I find that the pubs in the Jewellery Quarter are overpriced and pretentious unlike The Gunmakers Arms which is a proper boozer.
S. B.
Great pub, amazing interior
M. L.
Had a great time at the Pub Quiz last week, even though we were absolutely awful 😂

The food is decent, but what really makes this place are the friendly attentive staff. When there wasn't any Philly Subs left they really made sure my alternative was right for me. Great staff really do a difference.

A great selection of beers, cocktails, and really good food served all day long. Also regular events and specials most days. It's always busy in the evening for a good reason!
L. C.
The place was nice we ordered drinks and 2 milkshakes took about 15 minutes to get the shakes they looked lovely but we're supposed to be made with ice cream but tasted like milk we ordered a third that had no extra bits in even though it was supposed to be a Reece's shake when we ordered food there were no wings left, we ordered fries with gravy they had no gravy but did go and buy some by the time we got it though my daughter had eaten the fries and we had a refund on the gravy my other daughter ordered a hotdog but came completely wrong we were told it was a new chef and the poor girl all she did was having to apologize for the things that were wrong but having said that the food was really tasty would we go back there again if in the area maybe.
M. H.
