Came here after works do somewhere else and it was nice evening. Tiny dance floor but staff friendly, drinks reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere.

I had the big breakfast first thing on a Sunday morning and it was excellent. Everything was well cooked and tasty, sausages were meaty, not the fatty ones. Service was friendly and efficient, prices were good value for money. Decor is interesting and unique, offering pleasant surroundings with a great meal.

The Sun is up there for one of my favourite bars in Central Birmingham - great drink, great food, and great service every time I've been. While not as cheap as the utensil-themed chain next door, it's always gone down a treat whether going with work or friends!

Great pub with lots of selection of drinks. We tried a bit of food which was also lovely. Seating was tight as it was very busy. There was a mezzanine which would have eased it if they opened it. Staff friendly and plenty of them.

This is by far the best place I’ve ever been in my life. Me and my good friend popped in here for a pint before we went to the pizza establishment across the road, we decided to try a new beverage called Madri, and oh good heaves what a bloody delight it was. We finished that pint and went to our table booking across the road and then had lots of fun at the German Xmas Market. We then decided to check train times to go home…we had 17 minutes to kill before the next train at 22:01 so boys being boys we decided to go back to Sun on The Hill for another quick Madri!!! Next thing we know we are having the absolute time of our lives singing, dancing, making friends…basically turning this place into the ultimate Friday night place to be!! Next thing we know it’s only bloody 2am!!!! What can I say…time flies when you’re having fun and if you’re looking for fun grab a few mate, get a round of Madris and let Sun on the Hill do the bloody rest!!! Absolutely fantastic can’t wait to come back. Everyone get yourself down there. xo

This place gets 4 stars on the strength of the atmosphere - which is very laid back - and also the temperature - which is just right, and that's what you want on a Tuesday in January. Beer wise they don't have the best choice but for a lazy after work beer it makes a good fist of it. Will of course be back because it's close to new street train station, but that hasn't made them complacent, which is a good thing. Very friendly staff.

Sweet Potato Falafel Skewer isn't the sort of thing that I'd normally order but this really was very good. Only slight criticism would be that despite there being four clips, the only real ale was Wye Valley Butty Bach which is an excellent pint thankfully. Staff are lovely.

A good looking pub/bar that is very much gear for food. The high ceilings make the place look very grown up and add a good look and feel. That have a good range of cast beers and all your other favourite. It is still one of them places that has the rule about you have to spend a minimum of 5 pound on a card but will give you the change if it's under 5? The menu is quick and easy for but is still good. I think the beer is some of the best I have ever had and they have got a number I have never heard of. I think this place would be at its best on a Friday or a weekend but still good in the week.

It's a great independent bar serving some good food and has a good range of beers, wines and spitfires including Sharps Sea Fury, which you don't see on tap in many places. The breakfasts are really tasty, I had the Spanish and my friends had various sandwiches, bacon, eggs, beans, toast, etc - all were really tasty and served hot and quickly. The staff were lovely and looked happy to be there. Really busy in the evening, very lively with music. There's a discount available with the Independent Birmingham membership card on some food.

We went in on a Wednesday evening. The lemonade was flat, the coke had no taste. The music was too loud to hold a conversation without shouting. The food looked tasty but the menu was unappealing so we didn't order. The beautiful tattooed bar tender was the best thing about the venue.

Really nice bar with a great atmosphere. Good drinks on tap, with a decent selection of wines on offer. Has upstairs seating along with an upstairs bar, has nice decor and interior seating. Menu has a nice selection of tapas and is a good place to go for brekkie and has something for anyone including vegetarians. The pub is also right by the bull ring and the train station which makes it easy to get to and from and also after a shop.

I visited for the first time on. Friday night and really liked the place. The drinks were reasonable prices and they had a brilliant DJ playing lots of 80s music but none of the naff stuff. A bit of the rockier, more dancy stuff. Looking forward to going again!

Went around May, on a Sunday, to see some random bands while meeting up with a hot friend. . It was quite a nice sort of atmosphere, a nice rustic looking food of a pretty reasonable quality. Weirdly all the food is served on wooden chopping boards...a nightmare with peas or gravy! I'd probably bump it up a star, if they gave more edges on plates, and better groups lol :D

Usually they have djs playing an eclectic mix of musical genres which is great ,not keen on the hip hop /rap nights though. The beers ok but I'd like more choice rather than generic brands .All in all the atmosphere is usually very friendly and for me its the place to end night if you dont fancy clubbing it .

Only went on an evening so can't comment on what it's like during the day. I found it rather small and claustrophobic. Not enough seating, nowhere to put your glass/coat. It was ok but I probably wouldn't go again. I suppose if you like loud, tight spaces go see for yourself.
