Reviews of Druids Head
D. S.
I’ve visited this pub a few times when in Brighton and have really enjoyed the experiences. Great location; lovely seating out-front in the summer and a cosy interior for colder days.
Part of of the Greene King chain but the ales are decent (particularly the Icebreaker IPA). Had food for the first time this weekend and the quality exceeded our expectations. Very friendly staff too. Definitely worth a visit.

The staff are lovely and friendly. They tried to please my friend and me as we asked for gluten-free food. The environment was charming. I strongly recommend it.

The Druid's (Full Steam A) Head
Strolling through Brighton with two of our best friends, one of them says this pub is the oldest in town, though not particularly convincingly. However, it was tucked away in "The Lanes" and out of the way of through traffic. The day was sunny and we sat outside, had four Peronis, two alcohol-free, then ... Snack time, thought we, so light food was ordered and delivered by a lovely polite young girl. Wholesome and fresh ham, eggs, bacon, chicken and some chips, bread and butter were just the ticket for a daytime bit of nosh. When the bill arrived it was found to be splendid value for money and we all agreed that said Druid's Noggin was a very pleasant and successful stop.

I went in here after a wet and windy morning on the pier. It was a very welcome warm and cosy pub with a nice sounding menu. Ordered a Sunday roast, reasonably priced and a full plate of perfectly cooked food. Highlight was the cauliflower cheese. My wife ordered the mac & cheese which I also got a couple of forkfuls of and it was delicious too. We did want a coffee but on the day their coffee machine wasn't working on the day so we settled on some tea. Would recommend the pub.

Thirteen of us (family & friends) met up in Brighton last week for a Christmas holiday get-together. We were looking for a restaurant/pub that could cater not only for the large number of us (which included vegetarians, vegans and kids) but would also welcome dogs.
We were so lucky to find the Druids Head. From the moment we stepped into the warm and welcoming pub, we knew we had discovered somewhere really special.
The service from the staff was second to none. Meg especially, who looked after us throughout the evening, was just incredible. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her and she was always smiling. She took all drink and food orders and pretty much memorised who ordered what. She was exceptional throughout the evening.
The extensive menu on offer was fantastic with a great choice for all tastes. The quality of the food was excellent and all mains came out hot and at the same time. We all had an amazing time and would highly recommend this pub and will definitely visit next time we are in Brighton.

It’s not often I write a review but felt I had to after we a rranged a family gathering in Brighton and found this pub on Google. The barman was most welcoming and the staff quick arrange a large table for the 8 of us plus more than happy to let us bring the dog too. Really nice atmosphere and food was very good too. Each of the three staff members took the time to check on us. Full credit where credit is due. Thank you.
A. C.
Lovely pub - my favourite in The Lanes. Dropped in a couple of lunchtimes earlier this week and felt right at home (the music is better than most places as well 😉) Nice staff and good food.
N. R.
On a Monday night it was nearly empty, so any review would be unfair, I think. Nice staff - served us even though they'd begun shutting up.
R. W.
One of Brightons old Inns on the edge of the Lanes, its quite a small pub with an odd layout but is atmospheric and cosy. They serve a selection of pub grub and also a Sunday roast. Staff are friendly and helpful.
L. G.
Lovely pub, good food pkesanr nice staff and good drink. Heard gas hau tings lad ghost wearing red dress and two or few kudiee children ghosts old pub druids Head pub.,
K. O.
Really friendly staff. Fantastic food, probably the best battered fish iv ever had. Very accommodating to dietary needs. Really good food and fair pricing.
P. W.
Have been in Brighton four days and can honestly say that this is the best eatery and food we,ve had in all that time. From friendly and efficient staff to seemingly simple meals that were superbly cooked, (the pies were oven baked rather than microwaved - crisp, golden and flaky). I couldn't be happier with tonight. So glad we found the place. We WILL be back. If anyone from Greene King is reading this, the Druid's Head is one of the jewels in you crown.
G. W.
Popped in for a drink, the weather was lovely so we sat outside. We used the app and it was really quick and easy. Nice friendly staff and the drink was tasty. I had the cider (Aspalls) If I’m in the area, I’ll pop back in.
M. Y.
Yummy fish and chips. Fish tastes great ... I would say it actually -tastes- not like in many other places in Brighton. Chips seem to be double cooked or whatever magic they did so they would taste so good. Good portion as well. Nice selection of IPAs both on tap and in bottles. Lovely place!
I. J.
In this area there are two large pubs nearby, Druids Head and the Pump House. I chose this one, less crowdy and I think a bit cheaper. Nice cozy British pub with good interior and friendly personnel. Ordered sandwiches with meat and some soft drinks for a lunch, costed about 20 pounds. Service was ok in speed, food quality was also nice. Toilet was tidy.
K. G.
Beware the brainfreeze!
Don't believe the open hours here, we are inside while it's written it's closed.
And make sure you bring your own ice cause you have to order everything without ice or you feel like you moved to Iceland. Or rather an Iceland refrigerator with ice cubes everywhere and specifically making up 90% of your glass with the drink.
But otherwise nice interiors and vibe/crowd.
L. K.
Very nice pub. Pleasant interior and very friendly staff. Unfortunately not everything from the menu was available. The food wasn't warm and a bit dry. Not recommended for a roast.
T. P.
Pleasant pub in a central location. The staff seemed pleasant and helpful. The prices seemed reasonable for the area too.
M. R.
Green king pub. Solid food, nice drink selection. Would have stayed for another pint if I had the time!
F. M.
Love this place, definitely my favourite place for a drink in Brighton. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
J. W. (.
Good beer, gin, wine and nuts. Funny who you bump into in Brighton 😊
L. G.
We had a nice pub lunch and it came out really quickly considering they were very busy at the time.
L. L.
I've loved that pub. Good beer, nice atmosphere. The food is good, we took fish and chips... They was a lot!
Realy nice place.
D. J. W.
Good range of beers and a good atmosphere. I didn't try the food but the service was great and friendly
I. W.
What a beautiful pub! Steeped in history but with all modern facilities. Poppy and her colleagues were really welcoming and attentive... didn't use the app once because they anticipated all our needs. Food very good quality and arrived swiftly...Great all round.
K. M.
Well kept pub that offers fine ales, lagers, wines and cocktails. Great food at a reasonable price. Friendly, welcoming staff who can't do enough for you. Will be back on our next visit.
L. M.
Well run pub with good beer and friendly service. Didn't eat but lunch meals looked fine.
R. G.
Friendly staff. Beer selection a bit limited due to a short term issue on the day. But what they had worked well for me. So I will add this to possible venues for a meet up.
S. S.
A little bit of a wait as there only seemed to be one member of staff serving however nice, polite & friendly sevice. Some outside seating (not enough for everyone on nice days!) Small courtyard smoking area at the rear. Lovely food which I shall be returning to try again!
J. B.
Great pub for a quick drink in town. All good.
G. G.
Been in twice recently for lunch. Nice pub with an excellent choice of food.
S. V.
A variety of ales and lagers to choose from. Nice chilled vibes and decent atmosphere. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Not overly big though so not for large groups.
H. J.
went for a few birthday drinks, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere
sweet pub
peng
A. S.
Staff are so friendly and a good vibe overall
l. s.
Great service and outside seating area at the front is in a great location. Good for watching Brighton life!
S.
Great pub with a good food and drink offering. Service is super friendly and drinks are reasonably priced 👍
N. B.
Great service and friendly staff. All covid safe and track and trace info on the tables. Log into the app to order drinks but if you can't find what you want, don't worry because you can still order as normal for those non run-of-the-mill requests.
I. W.
Wonderful old pub with a lovely atmosphere and tasty food. The staff are very welcoming and helpful; Poppy and her colleagues couldn't do enough to look after us...
M. H.
The food is great and the atmosphere is lovely!
m. k.
Nice pub. Friendly staff. Food nice.
B. K.
Food good, friendly service. Just a shame there are smokers just outside which allow diners to be affected by secondhand smoke inside the pub.
L. P.
The place was quite nice to visit and the staff was friendly and helpful. The let down was the food ..all the people in my group 6...their food was cold and not nice at all.
D. T.
Average pub, central location, bit quiet so good if you want that
L. B.
Great Vegetarian English and Full English Breakfast with perfect poached eggs. A great find for a relaxing breakfast outside watching the world go by in the summer.
S. E.
I love the way it's decorated with amazing branches, gives a really cosy feel :)
D. M.
We initially went to Pump House a few doors down, but the staff there were very unfriendly - borderline militant. Druids Head were friendly and welcoming. Makes all the difference.
S. S.
Great lunch nice atmosphere clean and tidy
W. M.
Staff really friendly, food is a bit over priced for what you get but very tasty. Had to ask a couple of times for cutlery but it was a very hot day and very busy, and we was in the beach shack out the back.
M. S.
Nice place to eat out, very busy and took a while for our order to arrive. Nice friendly staff. Would go back again
R. O. G.
Good food, very nice staff.
J. M.
Fantastic pub. Great service. Love the hidden little one table back garden! I'll be back next time I'm down in Brighton!
D. F.
Great pub great food and beer 👍 5*
M. P.
Lovely meal and very friendly pub
A. T.
Great pint. Friendly atmosphere. Cosy little pub.
R. C.
A typical pub with a typical pub menu. The service was good and friendly, the food arrived in good time and hot. We all had pies with no complaints, great veg and mash but we all found the gravy somewhat thick.
C. o.
Loved it. Super staff, excellent beers
S. L.
The food was lovely and the bar staff were nice and friendly. Xx
S. V.
Good food and beer, looked after very well by attentive staff.
C. W.
Decent pub with a cool atmosphere hidden away in The Lanes in the centre of Brighton. Great staff and great to have a conversation with. Good value for money especially during happy hour, everyday between 4-6pm you get 2 for 1 cocktails, what more could you want???
P. P.
nice enough place. food service was very slow, even though it didn't appear to be overly busy. We ordered nachos and a sandwich at around 3pm on a blustery Sunday. It took more than an hour to get the food, but the guacamole had run out. I was only told about that just before the food was brought out. I asked for extra cheese to compensate, but I'm sure none was added. My friends ordered food after me; theirs took an hour or more too.
Bar Staff friendly.
Overall, a good location, but nothing special. I'd have a beer there again, but not if I was hungry
S. w.
Had a wonderful night with freinds, having a few quite drinks. Staff were very polite and helpful, more then accommodating. Unfortunately mine and the staffs evening were both ruined due the the awful behaviour of a grown woman, because her group was cut off from drinking. The abuse hurled at staff by her and her group was appaling, they were only doing there jobs, lovely evening ruined by drunken fools.
Will be return to hopefully have a much more plesent night soon, as the service and attitude from staff was great!
A. B.
Easy place to get a drink. Friendly staff
K. R.
Great pub. Lovely food and good prices. My mum and I went for lunch the other day and they have superb specials, we were impressed. Staff are very friendly and really like the open Mike night. Come on down!
J. D.
Great pub with friendly staff, great food and drink,
L. B.
Dont often leave reviews but was at the pub when this Jay guy was there. Watched him bark an order after the lady at the bar was CLEARLY making 20+ drinks. When someone is eventually made available u don't shout ur order at them... Its hot for everyone, not just the u mate. Went again since and service was great, bar staff lovely and food was amazing.
A. C.
Great food and atmosphere. Lovely staff
a. c. m.
Great place to sit outside and watch the show go past
P. C. (.
Great place to drink and listen to live music.
A.
Nice food. Accomadating staff.
R. H.
Always pop in for a pint, every visit down here. Never fails to be a warm welcome and decent service. Great selection of drinks too. The gin selection is superb!!!
T. P.
Not a good selection of real ales catering for the food trade.
C. B.
A beautiful looking old school pub on the edge of the lanes. Have a few tables outside if it's sunny, if not inside is traditional but not not massive. They have a few cask beers, but have failed to keep up with the variety other pubs locally are now offering.
A. M.
Popped in for a quick pint at 4pm on a Saturday in winter. A few families were tucking into food on the larger tables at the back, but there was still plenty of seating. Its more of a modern establishment, with a gastro pub colour palette, basically it doesnt feel like a locals 'old man' pub, great for tourists. The bar staff made you feel welcome, by saying hello and bye as you came and left. I know it's simple but it just puts you at ease and makes you want to settle for a while.
P. G.
Great place, very good service...almost. One member of the staff was swearing loudly in front of our child. But again, they all show up to work in these times so I still recommend this lovely place in Brighton.
m. W.
Very nice food and good service very polite staff and would return again for food
S. G.
Great place for pre dinner drinks
L. V.
Stopped for lunch in this old fashioned classical pub in the center of Brighton. The look is so authentic, but there is some feeling to be in a tourist trap. The burger was really good, with a lot of sausage and side. The beer a little vanished. The place, when crowdy, could be really noisy, and having an important rugby match in the big screen didn't helped.
D. W.
Traditional British pub serving cask ales and decent wines. Staff were very accommodating of our large birthday group, especially as we were quite rowdy (we sat outside). A plus is you can book a table for food and/or drinking (although we didn't).
S. G.
Comfortable pub, which made an ideal stop off point for us having walked around Brighton for hours. There is a fair selection of largers and they have cocktail hour in the afternoon; the bar lady was also friendly and welcoming towards us. We would be happy to visit again!
M. R.
Nice pub. Staff was friendly. Great selection of beers. I didn’t try the food, but it looked good as well.
Y. J.
Food was nice. Staff friendly. Loos clean.

C. B.
Friendly staff and 1 of 2 pubs of choice whenever visit Brighton
S. B.
Long wait for the food. The burger was overcooked, the egg in it also. The beer was watered down.
J. G.
Our George loved the doggy hydration station! Guarded it very well lol
J. N.
Great pub in central Brighton! Great service from Marcel & the team. They served us whilst sorting out a difficult customer and didn’t feel like we were a problem.
Fantastic staff, couldn’t recommend it any more!
S.
We came here after finishing The Ghost Walk of The Laines for my Hen Party. Very cute little pub, great atmosphere and the staff are spot on,very quick in serving so there is no longer than a 5 min wait for drinks.

S. B.
Very friendly bar staff, nice atmosphere. It was lunch time so not many people in there. I would imagine most evenings would be lively, the weekends even more so.
J. H.
Nice and cosy. Quite a good selection of beers and ales. 54 different gins to choose from. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Lovely atmosphere.
T. F.
Very good service food mmmmm 🍻🍻
T. Q.
Love the atmosphere, great all rounder in the world of pubs. Good selection of Ales / largers and everyone is smiling which at first made me question if I was in an a utopian society but turns out people were just happy they were in the Druids Head. Worth a visit if your in Brighton...also heard a rumour it is the oldest pub in the city but could be wrong there.
T. D. G.
Amazing place, great staff, quirky and old school pub

J. B.
Watched the second half of England vs Iceland here. Real ale very good and able to sit next to people I'd not met before (some places don't make you feel welcome) and gave a good chat about football, life, the universe and everything.
P. A.
Staff helpful. Lovely food. Nice atmosphere. Felt for bar staff. Waiting on tables and serving behind bar on marathon weekend.
V. P.
I love this pub, loads of memories from my twenties through to present day. Small pub, I always seem to be in way of someone arriving or leaving. All part of the experience!!
T. H.
Good atmosphere and I enjoyed the food. I was with a big party, so the bar staff seemed a little irritated by that at first, but they tried to keep a smile on.
A. B.
Very busy but kept informed at all times. Experienced staff who impressed! Food was good and value for money. Very pleasant would return!
P. B.
Fantastic stake and ale pie which is far superior than the lamb shank. Although very tasty. Very traditional style pub :-)

Nice pub food is good I just like to say I accidentally not a full pint of beer over that I just paid for and it was instantly replaced without any extra cost to me that's what I call customer care
A. P.
Very good

Lovely place, not great if you're in a big group but nice and cozy if there are only a few of you.
N. S.
In the heart of the Lanes this 1500s pub is quirky, quaint and has really friendly staff. Good atmosphere enjoyed our visit.
C. T.
A lovely mulled cider from here, however it baffled why the staff kept the door wedged open on a very, very cold day in December! I would've stayed longer if it hasn't been so damn cold!
M. K.
Don't worry, there are no beheaded druids inside.
A. M.
Good beer selection..not too pricey there's a vibrant atmosphere. Food is very popular

This Pub is a great opportunity to chill out the day. I liked it while I was in Brighton. Every evening I drank my Guiness there. And the best: the owner of Druids Head was (or is) a landsman of me. I miss this time. Any time I will come back in this Pub in the lovely city.
