Lovely cosy pub, friend accidentally left their laptop and bag there one evening. It was safe & sound and looked after by the staff. Live Vinyl DJ was great for a Saturday night atmosphere. Would definitely go again!

Great pub tucked away, 'jukebox' is always on point, beer is fresh, place is clean and staff great. My critical thing as ever is hygiene and toilets are always clean, unless some guy misses the urinal happens but not a big deal, soap water paper all present. Pawsome!

What's not to love about this place? Friendly staff and locals, great selection of bourbon that will tickle your taste buds, very well kept ales (4 pumps on rotation), bottles from around the globe... Need I go on? This venue is cozy, with live music weekly and has plenty more to offer. Get in here!

A firm favourite when I lived in Brighton ten years ago. This was locally referred to as the whiskey pub due to its extensive range. Besides enjoying many whiskeys, I discovered an amazing rum here called Green Island Spiced Gold. Delicious!

A nice place with a reasonable beer selection and really good back bar. Most importantly the atmosphere when we visited was just great. Some old guy DJing from his laptop at the end of the bar banging out Chet Baker then after he finished the soundtrack was gold ol’ rock n’ roll. The staff were really friendly and chatty as well which is always a refreshing change from the norm. Apparently the bar has recently been taken over by new management. I’m sure it’s not the same as it was for their long standing regulars but if they can maintain such a convivial atmosphere I have no doubt it will continue to thrive. Thanks for making us so welcome.

One of my favourite pubs in Brighton. It has an underground vibe. The interior is fabulous. It is full of old books and coasters. Small tables, din light and fantastic music...All you need for a good night. Every time I went there the place was packed, so I would join somebody else at a table. It is a great place for socializing. The beer selection is very good, though most ales are a bit stale. The place is very laid back, cozy and frequented by locals. I highly recommend this place!

I loved this pub. Upon moving to Brighton 18 months ago it quickly became a firm favourite...and then I discovered it was under threat..and then it seemed to change hands...and then the walls were bear and it lost some of its magic..I do hope they get it back. Still a nice pub but something is missing right now.

Great pub. A wide range of whiskey adorns the bar. Well kept real ales and a good selection of good keg, bottled and canned beers. A reasonable selection of wines too. There are regular DJ nights, offering rock, ska, soul, surf, rock'n'roll, jazz and when the decks aren't spinning, the sound system plays agood variety of good music. The bar staff deserve a mention too - friendly, helpful and, always a good sign, they often drink here when they aren't working.

Good pub that really symbolises the fun and diversity of Brighton. They've always had a good range of bourbon whiskeys on. Last time I went there was a good number of people there on a Saturday night.

Cosy boozer on the edge of the lanes. We stumbled across this place late night. My partner had a lovely warm punch which was homemade. The atmosphere is very relaxed and unpretentious. Beer selection is very good and there are a number of outside seats as well for when the weather is nice. One of my favourites in Brighton.

This was my favourite pub in the UK (no exaggeration!). However, they have recently renovated and taken the spirit away. Too much artificial lighting and newness which has stolen its unique ambience and nostalgic feel. Hoping over time it can capture that magic back! Need to start with getting the lighting right - darker, please! Also little things like the faux wax candle holders take away from its traditional, cosy feel. More focus on Hygge! 😊 For now, pretty upset about it, feel like the pub has gone.

Anyone who knows this pub will tell you it hasn't changed in donkeys years, it really is quite run down and shabby, the irony is, any tourists or out of towners who walk in there think that it's been designed to be like that, and that it's chic! That said though, it does have a good selection of drinks, good beers and ales. If whiskey or bourbon is your tipple of choice then this is probably the best place in Brighton. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

I end up here frequently, not usually by choice though. Some nice beers, slightly more pricey than other pubs close by. Although I always enjoy my time here due to the company I'm with and the often interesting people I end up chatting with, I just can't get used to the cramped layout and having to stand on the street outside to smoke/vape/get fresh air or sun.

Just re-opened... Must be tough, as things are, but they do nice ales, and are very welcoming! Close at 10pm,at present.. Wish them well. Strange times! So weird 'going-out' right now! Much better place than the prince albert, up the road! Support them, please!

Good friendly staff, surprisingly not too busy at 5pm on a Friday, cosy and classic. Also you can order takeaway here, and the ladies' has emergency sanitary products for when you're caught out - thoughtful and welcoming! Get the feeling of a pub that cares about its customers. Will come back.

Best Guinness ever! You can tell easily that the know and care about the Guinness. I love the little tables outside :) Really cosy and quiet (enough) place for a date.
