Best beer Garden in Brighton!! - The Hobgoblin is a staple of Brighton life. It's a fantastic pub that's been around for so many years it feels like it's a part of Brighton's heritage. The Beer Garden at the back of the pub is exceptional, extremely Large, fully covered (for those raining drinking sessions) and, in my humble opinion, very well laid out. The staff are always friendly and professional and the pub always partakes in festivities and seasonal events. Drinks prices are average and they often have live music. It's a cornerstone of pub culture and I cannot fault them on anything. Their food is awesome too. well-priced and good quality. If you are visiting Brighton, make time to have a pint at the Hobgoblin. You won't be dissapointed :)

The Dog House in the beer garden. Awesome hot dogs and loaded fries. Gluten free buns and very helpful chef. Delicious! Cooked us fries in a separate pan just to be safe. Legend!

Came here based on the recommendation of good food. Last stop on our day trip to Brighton. Felt old in there as the clientele was youngster, found out later its a student pub but no complaints from me. Had a decent beer and an awesome hotdog. Bar staff were friendly as was the doorman who let my gf and I in from a side door as my gf uses a wheelchair. Beer garden looked decent but unaccessible to us as it was several steps up to it. Sat inside where it was quite dark but was not an issue. As we were getting ready to leave a bar staff member approached us and got the side door open for us to exit which was kind of her to be observant. Thank you for a nice end to an awesome day

Loud music. Student bar. Lots of people getting id'd. On Wednesdays you can swap a lemon for a bottle of sol. The pub also hosts an escape room. Music is too loud for a proper conversation. Drinks are a bit expensive if you don't go for the promotions which are shots and cheap beer. Has a photo booth and beer garden. Everything is under UV light so wear anything white and you will glow!

Great pub with the best outdoor seating I've experienced in Brighton so far. One caveat is the booths do let in quite a bit of a draft through the back rest. So, I wouldn't recommend sitting outside in the winter unless you're made of steel. Otherwise, a great pub please check it out!

The drinks were very affordable, only issue I had, was with how loud everything seemed to be. I was pretty much shouting to my friends the whole evening, but in fairness it's a busy bar with loud music so it's to be expected.

The Hobgoblin was as great as the name. Great security guard on the night. The staff were friendly great atmosphere for a drink and a dance on a Saturday night. The DJ on the night, Bucky; played some epic tunes and was really approachable. Made the atmosphere even better. Drinks are a good price with the deals. Us to top it off I left my laptop in its case that night. The staff kept it safe til I collected it Monday morning afternoon when the opened. 👌 👌 👌

Great classic pub atmosphere with a modern touch. Locationally perfect; not too central but not too far out. Drinks are avergely priced. They offer an extensive beer guarden with heaters which is lovely for an evening drink. Be wary that Friday and Saturday nights can be incredibly busy, but also good fun if that's the vibe you are looking for. Overall top notch pub.

Good pub with quite a variety of drinks.Prices are reasonable and perhaps has the best garden or outside area for a pub in Brighton. The downside is, the garden is closed off too early and the pub closes too early too. Not enough sitting areas but i guess that's the space they've got.

Great outdoor beer garden-y space, covered to protect against the British rain, heat lamps to protect against the British slight chill. Lots of student socials so don’t wear sports attire or you might find yourself strawpedoing a VK 8 pubs later after being swept up by a rugby team pub golf expedition.

Can get really busy during prime hours but the massive beer garden means it doesn't get too rammed. The bar is quite small though so be prepared to wait during busy times. When it's quiet here it's a good place to come for the lunch, the burgers are super tasty, though a bit overpriced.

Great pub, very affordable drinks but music is very loud, can't have a conversation. Beer garden is great, we went oit there to talk however the garden closes at 11pm on weekdays (to respect people living in the area).

The smoking area is probably the best think about this place. Huge space, usually really busy. They don't do food anymore, seems there's always a tete-a-tete... It's a bit grotty, the toilets are gross. The staff are picked to be purposefully alternative (and seemingly rude or uninterested!) Cheap drinks though so can't complain about that!

I used to go here as a student. Well I remember going here as a student. I probably didn't go here as many times as I think I did. I went here yesterday for a couple of beers with an old friend and it made me feel older and wiser than all the idiot students surrounding me. Oh how I remember being young and stupid. Fond memories. They do really good drink deal and have a great beer garden. The only we don't like about going there is how many times you get IDed. There is a guy IDing on the door so I don't understand why the bar staff ID you every time you get a drink.

Really used to like this place but recently the louder music on a Friday after work has stopped me going as much. However still like it good sized beer garden at the back and often have BBQ in the summer for burgers. Nice and tidy pub.

Odd mix: 100% grubby fun student pub with slush cocktails and a large heated smoking area. The "Doughbo" bar is the reason to go there if you are not a student: it serves great balls of pizza. However if I was a student I would not want to spend £15 on 6 bits of pizza It also has an escape room upstairs... Avoid if you can't sit outside. Often smells damp if the back doors are not open.

Best pub garden ever! Come here all the time for events going on upstairs during the Brighton Fringe. Shame about the bar area though: dark, sticky, cramped. The music doesn't really do it for me either, but each to their own. I hear this place used to be a metal pub and you can definitely tell! It's got a certain feel to it - maybe it should go back to it's roots? Either way it makes for an ideal pit stop with a bunch of friends on a night out :-)

The Hobgoblin is a great studenty pub, with plenty of different deals most days of the week. Mid week evenings tend to be (but not always) a much more pleasant experience, with quieter music and smaller crowds - this also equates to much faster service. Due to it's location and popularity, quite often it can be so jam packed, it's almost impossible to move through to the back, where there is a very large covered garden area, or to be served at the bar. On such occasions, the music tends to be so loud, that you can't chat with your friends, unless you step outside.

Student pub but also a good pub generally. Has a great outside area that is heated and covered for the winter. Always buzzing and have a pub cat who is very friendly. Burgers served are top notch.

Bit dated and a touch musty but a good boozer with friendly bar staff. And there are a couple of those old table games with pacman, space invaders, donkey Kong etc. Really good fun if you want a throwback to years gone by!

This pub keeps reinventing itself. Currently it's a slightly studenty pub with a lot of beer garden seating and a reasonable if slightly overpriced line of posh burgers. Personally i prefer the burger brothers which is only a5 minute walk but this is a reasonable second choice.

A student pub for students... The Hobgoblin is a large graffitied building in the middle of Brighton only a short distance from the train station. Has a large beer garden which is covered in the winter for those who wish to brave the cold and smoke while they enjoy a pint or two. Ale selection is reasonable along with the standard pub largers on tap as well. Inside the pub is dimly lit and somewhat reminds me of a grimy music venue (not a bad thing). Prices aren't too high either so it's not a bad place to sink a few before moving onto somewhere else.
