We had a super Sunday lunch today - 3 roasts and a vegan roast.All excellent and well presented. Good value and the people working there were all so very helpful - it made for a lovely relaxed occasion! THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED!

Excellent staff, good food at a very reasonable price. Enjoyed our meal and even had to take home a doggy bag. Old style pub, enjoyed our visit and will be going back when we are in Brighton.

The staff were lovely and the playhouse went down well with the kids. It was a shame the garden and kids toys are a bit run down, wouldn't take much to spruce it up a bit. The Sunday roast was not very nice unfortunately.

Great pub, looks after the locals while being accomodating to new comers. Bar staff are lovely and always smiling. Pool and darts as well as a good quiz every Thursday, well worth a visit. Shout out to Juliana and Jake!

We recently hired the Hartington for our wedding. From the moment we contacted them they were brilliant. Fast and clear communication throughout the whole process and they bent over backwards to accommodate us - which was really appreciated during COVID. The bar staff were so friendly and always on hand. The food was great and the drinks were very reasonably priced and didn’t compromise on quality. Being a COVID wedding we were limited to the main event taking place outdoors which they helped us deck out beautifully, and then, with a smaller party moved indoors - where it felt really warm, friendly and a great place to spend a special evening. Would definitely recommend The Hartington to anyone - for a drink or a wedding

Came to Brighton for a birthday celebration at this pub. Sat outside in the booths with those great heaters & ended the evening inside. The very lovely Julianna looked after us brilliantly, smiling throughout, even at the end of the night.

Had Sunday lunch yesterday in the garden. The pork was delicious and beef was good. Veg all very good. Cutlery arrived almost 10 minutes after the food which wasn’t ideal. Surprised at the toilets (men’s & women’s) as they were run down and not very clean.

One of the nicest pubs I’ve been to. We were staying in an air BnB on the road and were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door by their happy and smiley staff. They are clearly loved by their locals as they were jumping in with suggestions of what we should choose to eat and it was lovely to see the friendly banter between them and the staff. We were seated at a table displaying a green sign indicating that it had been sanitized and was ready for use and we didn’t have to move from our seats until it was time to go as we were served at our table. The new restrictions are playing in their favour as we ended up ordering a second bottle of wine because we were so relaxed and comfortable. Our food was delicious, homemade and generous portions. All in all it was just a really lively experience and we will definitely be visiting this pub again on our next visit to Brighton!

Had the Sunday lunch nut roast - not the best to be honest. Everything was overcooked which meant a dry, almost burnt, nut roast and Yorkshire pudding, and soggy veg. Shame as the place had been recommended - maybe the midweek chef is better?

Food & service were sublime! I had a very tasty and generous portion of Sunday Roast in the garden. The tables in the garden are heated and sheltered, spaced from the other table. Very winter and Covid proof. 100% recommended!

Used to live near here 15 years ago so returned for nostalgia and because it got top 20 Sunday roasts in Brighton. Really don't know how that happened. The roast was big but the ingredients really lacked flavour. The whole place is stuck providing the same selection of beers and quality of food that were standard 15 years ago. Staff were friendly but would not return.

Came here for a Xmas meal. It was lovely but tip: all meals should come with Yorkshire puddings not just the beef! Lovely atmosphere. Staff could be abit more attentive as they seemed to be chatting behind the bar instead of checking if we needed drinks etc etc. Would recommend!

This well managed and friendly pub with its new chef has seriously put The Hartington back on the map for Sunday roasts. As we were leaving, the candles were lit, the lights dimmed and a double bass player and singer turned up to play some fine tunes. Enjoy

Friendly brewery pub decent ales, nice relaxed vibe felt very welcome. Football was on screens but not in your face. I did watch the football but if that's not your thing it is just in the background and easily ignored.

Wonderful pub food and place to have a few drinks with mates. Really exceptional in brighton and really well priced too. The bar staff are also really welcoming and friendly. I thoroughly recommend the The Hartington Pub (near Hanover / Elm Grove) to anyone looking for a roast dinner too. We also had our wedding reception here and I was blown away by how accommodating the owners were and how beautiful everything looked. They provided amazing BBQ and buffet that all my guests devoured and the bar staff really were amazing. This was the current owners first big event/wedding at the pub and I have no doubt it will be the first of many.

Great pub in a residential (student) area with some interesting handpumped ales. Good lunchtime food deals e.g. £5 burgers on Monday, which my daughter and I thought were very high quality. Looking forward to bringing her home from Uni later in Dec, so I can go back to the Hartington for a meal and a pint.

Came in for a Sunday roast with friends and family, this pub is a newly found gem for us. Food was of very high standards and quality, tasting equally good! I expected a normal pub roast that ends up disappointing you due to tough meat, soggy roast potatoes etc. However, everything, including the roast cabbage was spot on! Afterwards, around 6pm suddenly a live band appeared! Spectacular surprise! A 3 piece live Jazz band! I went ahead and questioned, turns out on Sunday's they do have live Jazz too!

A lovely back street pub with a west facing walled garden. Good food, good selection of drinks, soft and alcoholic, tea and coffee. Friendly staff. Does meal deals throughout the week. Will be going back.

Not an area we often visit, we popped in for a quick beer & to our delight, we were able to enjoy a pint of Adnams Ghost ship. Not the cheapest of pubs, but a lovely pint in pleasant surroundings.
