My partner and I came here on a wowcher deal.
I'm very happy with everything.
The staff were friendly and attentive.
The dinner was lovely, very tasty.
Breakfast was also very tasty, self service and clean.
The rooms are fine, nothing special but suited us.
The reason for the mark down was because of the noise at night within the hotel. The radiators (I think) were very loud. I didn't hear this but my partner is a light sleeper and couldn't sleep.
Overall, I'd recommend and stay again but bring earplugs (hotel provide free earplugs) as outside noise can be very loud.

I and my wife visited for her birthday. It was our first time visiting.
The restaurant was cosy and quiet when we visited. The lighting was good and background music was playing. We was served by a man named Josh, he was very polite and professional, he made sure that we had everything we needed and made our stay great.
The food was amazing, through starters to dessert.
The reception was also professional and helpful, giving us clear instructions as to why to go for our room/food etc.
The room is lovely, big bed with bath and shower also. Nice and warm, we visited in January.
Give this restaurant a try and also look into the history of this hotel as you will be amazed what you find!
Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely marvelous! Every single member of staff were very nice, efficient, courteous and helpful. The two rooms we occupied on this occasion were very nice, reasonably spacious and comfortable.
The bonus of some rooms being dog friendly was superb, our puppy had a lovely break away from our very busy household and had lots of new experiences and lovely walks along the seafront.
We have already booked our next visit and we CAN NOT offer a greater review than to book a return visit prior to booking out from this one.
Thanks to all the staff, both customer facing and those more in the background/support roles. You made our stay far more than satisfactory!

It was lovely. Old, but clean, very warm. Big room, very comfy large bed. Staff very friendly and helpful
Only complaint bathroom door didn't shut . But was not a huge worry
So convenient for The Lanes, car parking, the pier. Opposite the sea. Dinner was lovely and breakfast good menu and fresh.
Would definitely go again . I think dog friendly not sure....
There is a lift.
Well recommend.

Lovely located hotel. Rooms need refurbishing with hotel durable furnishings and fittings.
Food in hotel was outstanding, compliments to the Chef and his team.
Bar staff welcoming and friendly.

Lovely old hotel with plenty of original features including the lovely slow lift.
It's a bit tired but without being tatty.
The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was a good size with a comfy bed and super clean. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice. Parking is available on site or you can park in the lanes car park next door. Fantastic location.

Lovely old hotel a little tired in places. Had a few problems getting hot water but quickly sorted. Lots of stairs so would check if you need disabled support. Restaurant is very good and buffet breakfast is excellent with wide choices. We were on a Groupon deal that included a super 3 course dinner and surprisingly good bottle of wine included. Give it a try.

The Hôtel was warm, and friendly, staff In all departments, very helpful, and obliging, The Hôtel is old, and a little tried, but think it adds to it charm , especially at Christmas. Great location , for all thing Brighton. We only stayed one night, had dinner and breakfast their , which was great value for money. Highly recommend for customer service comfort and value for money

So chanced our favourite place to holiday with our dog , found this hotel on secret escapes , wow what a perfect hotel , doggie friendly , great location .
Danny & Mariana at front desk with unbelievably helpful gave us a perfect sized sea view room & as it was so nice we decided to stay another night ! Which they sorted with such ease .
Breckie was yummy , bar lively with great atmosphere so many friendly dogs .
It’s now our annual New year hotel
Thank you
Love the Gouders x x

Our first time to Brighton and to this hotel. It’s in an excellent location right on the sea. It has very nice staff.
We stayed in room 343. We booked a king but it was not a kind bed. Peabody we misread what kind meant.
We stayed on a Saturday night. The hotel was very lively with great live music. They have a restaurant, nice bar, afternoon tea and a small pool table.
We booked a rooM that included breakfast and I recommend that. The breakfast was quite good
We enjoyed our stay but be prepared for disrupted sleep. It was loud all night. People loud in the halls all hours of the night showing no regard for others skewing. There were also people on the street outside our window all night long until about 5am.
We didn’t consider this the hotels fault. Just be prepared.

We have just returned home after a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. I have stayed at many hotels in Brighton and this is by far the best in this price range. The staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly, making a fuss of our dog and making us all feel welcome. The food is great, we had breakfast each morning, an evening meal on our first night and an afternoon tea the next day too. There was a lively atmosphere in the bar and terrace on Saturday afternoon with a singer and music afterwards. We had two rooms and ours was a dog-friendly room. We were delighted with the dog bed, provided by the hotel, and so was our dog! Both our rooms were clean, comfortable and had tea making facilities, iron & ironing board and a hairdryer too. My only complaint would be that we couldn’t open our window, it was warm in our room but thankfully we had a ceiling fan which worked a treat. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will definitely be back again!

The hotel is located in a great spot right on the beach, our room was gorgeous and although not on the sea front we had a sea view from the side window, which made me very happy as I love the sea. I really loved the feel and the look of the hotel, the staff were lovely and always helpful and attentive. This is the first time we have stayed at the hotel and we did so for our wedding anniversary and were left a lovely card and gift on arrival, such a lovely touch. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with so much choice of literally everything, both continental and all the pastries! Spoilt for choice.
I would one hundred per cent recommend the hotel, its stunning and we will definitely go back for our next anniversary.

Brilliant couple of days stay at Old Ship..we had a sea view room 218 excellent. Staff lovely especially breakfast lady. We went during the week it was nice and quiet but can imagine it being noisy with beach bars across the road. We will return

Have got to say all downstairs areas are lovely. Food in restaurant very good. Excellent breakfast. The lady from Greece gave particularly good service.
On a more negative note the bedroom was looking very tired in need of decorating. Cleaning and refreshing of room not what we would have expected. No milk replaced 2nd day, wood furniture very dusty, bathroom not cleaned no new toilet roll. 3td day had a sign out to clean room we got back to room about 2.15pm knock at door and I said please give us 5 minutes as husband using bathroom. 2.55pm domestic staff came back and said I have no time to clean your room as I finish in 5 minutes I asked for milk and toilet roll so again no cleaning done. If the service/decor in our rooms was equal to the public areas we would have given 5 star rating
J. G.
It feels a bit like the tower or terror with some of the old elevators and mysterious underground passage ways. But still nice and clean and with a good spacious room. They provide free ear plugs in the room which is quite thoughtful but didn't need them.
K. C.
Had a wonderful stay here for Pride Weekend, sea view room. A very comfortable bed to sleep in. I would definitely go again. Lovely friendly staff. Had a really great weekend with some fantastic friends. My first time in Brighton was the best. Look forward to next year.
m. t.
A one night stay, went to see a show at the dome. Comfy clean room, in an excellent position on the seafront right by the start of the lanes. Really good breakfast, Full English and continental available. A favourite place to stay in Brighton.
B. W.
Just got back from our 3rd trip to this hotel it is such a Wonderful place to stay Gillian in the restaurant has a really lovely chat with everyone making you feel special all the staff are helpful and attentive nothing too much trouble smashing character hotel with great places to sit and get some relax time. Right on the seafront couldn't get a better view very clean and fantastic food steak cooked to perfection can't wait to go again
K. S.
Enjoyed a really lovely Prosecco afternoon tea experience. Very fresh, excellent choice of cakes & scone nice & warm as if freshly baked. For me, there wasn't quite enough clotted cream and preserve for our two scones but delicious anyway, all of it. Staff went to the trouble of giving us decaffeinated tea upon request. We had a window table with a beautiful white cloth, much appreciated, so had an excellent view of the sea front and unexpectedly the naked cyclists passing by. What a hoot! Certainly a memorable experience altogether which I highly recommend & will repeat .
J. G.
Very nice hotel managed a sea view cannot fault the room and the hotel lounges extremely comfortable and plentiful. Drinks dear but they always would be for a lad from Wigan. Evening meal excellent looking forward to the breakfast
V. F.
Perfect location. Our room facing the sea had an outstanding view, this is a good hotel with very friendly staff and good hospitality. The restaurant and bar was good too, didn’t have any issues.
On the not so good side. No AC, it is loud outside but that is to be expected given the location.
Would stay here again just for the view from the room and friendly staff.
T. R.
This is in a fantastic location on the sea front, it's a lively place so if you are looking for peaceful this might not be for you but it is fun. The rooms are quite tired. This probably won't be the first review you read for Brighton that warns of the parking costs, expect to pay £30 for 24 hours
K. T.
Stayed here a couple of weeks ago. Paid for a sea view room, was absolutely lovely, bed was comfortable, everything was clean (especially good after covid) wasnt even our honey moon but the chocolates were a perk! Staff were nice and attentive, we went on a friday evening and there was evening entertainment (a singer). View from room was lovely to see especially at sunset.
R. S.
Lovely stay nice deluxe twin with a sea view
Breakfast was really good very fresh and as much as you wanted staff very friendly 😊
S. C.
Got a good price on Groupon of £29 for afternoon tea with prosseco for 2. The staff was really nice and professional, even asked if we had any food allergies. Afternoon tea was average but quite enjoyable, fingers sandwiches, scones and cakes.
g. m.
Good place to stay in Brighton, staff were great. If I had one petty complaint, the veggie sausages were awful, mushy disgusting things.
L. K.
Full of old world charm, lovely room with a sea view, staff are helpful and attentive service in the restaurant was a bit slow but with two members of staff is to be expected in a full room, squid is very good if you like sea food. Hotel is lovely we would happily stay there again.
M. J.
I was here back in October 2018, pretty much everything was all good. The only nit pick I had would be that the walls were really thin, you could hear people's TV's in the next room easily.
G. B.
We booked this hotel because it stated dog friendly and it didn't disappoint. Dogs are very welcome and all the staff are very friendly and accommodating, from the moment we pulled up at the garage to park in the hotel we felt welcome. Great location good food and a good bar. They will even provide a dog bed and water bowl if needed. If we come to Brighton again with our dog, this will be our first choice.
T. K.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Food choice for breakfast excellent. Rooms very comfortable beds and clean
b. b.
Very oldy wildly hotel, BUT, we luved it. The rooms were great, bed, so soft and comfortable. The all you can eat breakfast, 10/10. Will definitely return.
C. A.
Thank you Miriam (Manager) and David for making our recent Gay Pride weekend stay a fantastic experience. You both went the extra mile in customer service and I have booked the same weekend and same room for next year! Great entertainment at the hotel and very helpful staff.
S. W.
Friendly staff, Nice room, The evening meal was amazing, and Breakfast was superb, Really close to everything, Parking attendant was friendly, and only £25 a night
S. G.
Called here for snack lunch. V limited menu and on ordering were told that several things were not available.
So had v average fish finger sandwich, macaroni cheese balls. Nachos were enjoyed.
Expensive for what we had. Would not recommend for snack.
J. E.
Lovely, friendly hotel. Quite old fashioned but food is very good and would definitely stay here again.
B. B.
We had such a lovely time during the day out on the decking that we went back in the evening for a nightcap . We ordered and 40 minutes later they said we couldn't have our drinks because we were non residents!
H. P.
Stayed here spontaneously after deciding we didn't want to leave Brighton 🤣 not only did they accommodate us but also switched one of our rooms instantly when there was an issue with it. Staff really helpful and friendly, very happy lady on the reception phone this morning too! Breakfast was really nice, great variety of hot and cold options, also had oat milk for our hot drinks, really pleased with our stay and would definitely stay again!
D. M.
Nice hotel. Had lovely couple of days there. Staff very helpful. It is dated but rooms very clean and comfortable. One waitress in the restaurant could sign, which made life very comfortable for the deaf person who was with us. Well done.
N. V.
Wonderful location! Beautiful breakfast! Friendly staff! Comfortable room with a an amazing view!
M. A.
What a delightful experience! We were seated in a lovely quiet and cool area of the hotel to enjoy a delicious high tea.
The selection of treats where nice and varied and just enough for the four of us. And the service definitely came with a smile 😃
B. R.
Fantastic hotel , lovely room ,food and ambience on the seafront a great weekend and so much to do. Will be back
L. C.
Very comfy stay, gorgeous views over the beach, close to lots of eateries & The Lanes shops, right on the beach & friendly helpful staff.
C. W.
Fantastic food and service, definitely would recommend this lovely hotel
A. S.
Lovely hotel in a traditional style. The room faced the sea and had everything we needed although the plumbing in the bathroom needs updating. Very friendly staff who were always happy to help.
D. F.
Great old hotel. staff excellent. Vantastick breakfast will book again next time in Brighton
T. T.
This review is for if you want to sit on the seafront and watch the sun go down. For that the hotel is a great place to be.
i. M.
Went to a firms Christmas Party. The food was fantastic the Staff were brilliant and the DJ was right on the money. Impressive
G. R.
A really lovely hotel with comfortable rooms, helpful staff and very prettily decorated for Christmas.
E. H.
Spent a lovely evening here great meal wonderful service all the staff were professional and helpful
Nice touch to have a token gift and card for our anniversary from The old ship staff waiting in our room on arrival
Room was clean and comfortable and spacious
A bit noisy from bar area in front of hotel, but only to be expected as the area is popular for weddings, hen and stag parties and the height of summer season.
We would stay here again.
D. M.
Staff excellent and have a difficult challenge as it's classed as 4 star but that's not a realistic classification. No air con, no security safe in room. Lifts don't work . Location great but noise is very loud until 4.00am. Upgrade of hotel is desperately needed but staff do go the extra step to make up for very dated hotel.
C. Z.
The Ship is a old hotel, that badly needs bringing up to date, in deco. The rooms are quite shabby but to make up for this, the staff are very helpful and curious, The bed was comfortable and the linen clean. In the morning I had breakfast and that was plentiful and satisfying.
H. C.
Great venue, close to the pier and laines, lots of night life. Great food and bar, would visit again.
P. B.
Very nice old modernised hotel to stay, sea views from room with very good food.
B. F.
Lovely hotel friendly staff and fantastic location on brightons sea front nice bar good selection of drinks must return next year.
A. C.
I stayed here a few years ago. Only 2 nights but I had a lovely stay. Sea facing large room and all the comforts. As I shall not be venturing abroad this year I reckon a few weekends at this lovely hotel during the summer will be a good tonic for me. Can't wait to return.
T.
Fantastic hotel, perfectly situated for the Pier, Cinema, Car Park, Restaurants, the i360 and all the fun stuff, super friendly staff very spacious so social distancing is easy to maintain, great bar, fantastic food and they allow dogs! 😁👍
Can't say a single bad word about my family's visit to the hotel, and that's the opinion of all 6 of us... will absolutely always use the hotel whenever we visit Brighton from here on out 👍👍👍
V. B.
A good hotel with bags of atmosphere, a great bar and fine restaurant. With friendly, helpful, efficient staff.
c. b.
Lovely old style hotel very clean and nice comfortable room. On the sea front overlooking Brighton pier. Walking distance from the station and easy to find
D. S.
Staff went above and beyond expectations. The hotel is a little tired and date but you could not fault the food or the overall hospitality.
W. L.
My partner surprised me for my birthday and my birthday couldn’t have gone any better than it did. Weather wasn’t kind but hey nothing stopped us. We strongly would recommend this hotel as the staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for them and extremely well organised during Covid for social distancing etc. The rooms manager Naomi was outstanding so helpful and kind. As was Sarah and Alice,. Everything so well organised and breakfast and dinner was supurb as was my surprise afternoon tea. We’ll certainly be back as we live this hotel and the staff, waiters, waitresses fantastic. So thank you all of you and stay safe
C. O.
We had a private meal in the Wine Cellar for our wedding reception in October 2020 and I cannot recommend the Old Ship Hotel enough! The Cellars are so atmospheric and quirky - so perfect for our intimate wedding reception. The staff went over and above to make our day perfect, allowing us to decorate the space and providing endless flexibility with menus and the timing of the day. We felt so looked after and valued and the food was fantastic - thank you! In particular, Sarah was incredibly helpful and deserves a special mention for helping our day run smoothly!
G. M.
The old ship hotel is a busy sea side hotel on Brighton front, decent food higher end priced room's but many with sea views' alcohol is about the going price for this type of hotel' guests seem to be young to middle aged' it's a friendly enough hotel I stayed there one night as I was considering whether to take a management job offer from them. Would I recommend this hotel" if you are on a budget no! If not try other similar hotels first, but for late room's you could get a good deal direct on the hotel website.
U.
Fantastic one of my favourite hotels so far kids loved it
K. M.
What can I say about our stay. Spot on .
Service was Superb , the Staff was very helpful , the food was top Class.🏅
G. G.
Had a pleasant stay here - very comfortable beds and the ear plugs provided are a thoughtful touch for this seafront location. Breakfast range is very good too.
j. K.
Great staff , very friendly and professional.
Room fantastic, food very good.
J. L.
Extremely good value for money and very friendly and helpful staff, but the value rooms are towards the back of the hotel with no views at all, (even a dead seagull caught up in netting). But we had a fab time there. 😁
M. U.
We had one of the suites and the full-on sea view from the bedroom, living room and dining area was FANtastic! Lots of space and a comfy bed. Staff were helpful and professional and we had a smashing two night stay. Only downside was breakfast, which was a bit basic. But it was included in the price, so it didn't matter. This is not The Grand, but it's a lovely, friendly old hotel and good value for money. This was our third stay.
R. C.
Had a wonderful stay here with the dog (Frankie) Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
S. C.
Very nice roast dinner. Staff and restaurant lovely too.
M. R.
Loved it here, only stayed one night, but great location, very helpful staff, friendly and pleasant and a lovely breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
F.
Bedroom was spotless on arrival as were public areas .Sanitizers were obvious & sanitizing took place a lot.
Reception staff were all helpful ,they sorted a T.V problem out quickly. Bar & …
M. C.
Absolutely excellent service, Ramon took our drinks and was super friendly made us feel very welcome, the rest of the staff were super lovely - I am sure we were super annoying and they were all super accommodating, and they had lovely Irish coffees! Thank you so much
B. H.
Our first visit to the old Ship Hotel and we were very impressed. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us the food was excellent due to coronavirus it was table service only which was very efficient. Our room was a twin standard one which was very large and spacious.our stay was very enjoyable and we will be staying here again
Just would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the old ship hotel for helping to make our stay so perfect. Under what are currently difficult circumstances
Barbara Hunt and Diane Finch. 👍🏼😃
E. M.
Hotel is looking a quite tired in places, but it has nice original touches. Shame about the live singer performing outside, which sends completely the wrong message in my opinion.
C. S.
Had an afternoon tea it was great the Manager put himself out to provide different cakes and sandwiches as my friend and I didn't like what they offered staff very friendly the manger
even came to see us
A. H.
Perfect location. Live singer late afternoon, lovely cocktails, helpful and friendly staff. Great place to stay overnight, good food and plenty of breakfast choices.
L. W.
Can't get a coffee before 11oc ridiculous thought these premises would welcome custom had too go out and spend money for a coffee x that by how many customers have tried to get a coffee
C. l.
Well, where shall I begin, the staff are amazing, they couldn't do enough for us. We needed emergency accommodation as what we had booked elsewhere, was unsuitable. They booked us in immediately, and gave us an upgrade to a beautiful room with seafront views, 2 large comfortable beds, toiletries and bottles of water in the room. Also, car parking available, at an extra charge, in the garage, under the hotel. We will definitely recommend this place, and also, very good covid rules in place, which is necessary and important.
N. N.
Great location, overlooking seafront. Great restaurant serving from breakfast right through to the evening. Bars meals too.
The seating outside terrace is just divine to sit and have a drink or two ... or just idly comfortably people watch.
Good selection of wines, beers and cocktails served inside or outside.
Class hotel .....
t. l.
Very nice hotel..cannot find fault.
B. A.
Good hotel well positioned and well priced with plenty of outdoor seating live music and a great choice of breakfast well priced at £13
S. S.
Bit dated in places but overall a brilliant stay every time we come here. Only real complaint would be the heat in the rooms - the ceiling fans don't really do much to help.
D. L. B.
Lovely atmosphere , great staff and food.
Guests all seem very happy and relaxed.
Definitely recommend 100%
Add to this, very comfortable beds indeed .
l. t.
Recently stayed for two nights, after having to check out of a rather dirty hotel down the road. My partner and I could not have been happier. The staff were so friendly and kind and couldn’t do enough to help. Excellent customer service goes a long way. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms very large and clean, felt totally relaxed and at ease thete. Really looking forward to visiting again once it’s out of lockdown (my partner and I were in Brighton for an education/work course).
Would love to the the bar area as it looks so cosy.
N. C.
Just stayed one night, the hotel reception and public areas had a real Christmas feel. The staff at reception and breakfast were excellent. The room was dated and very small even for one person. Only half the radiator heated up and it took hours, so the room remained cold.
The staff were very aware of gluten free options at breakfast which was good. Would I stay again, yes but ask for a larger room.
j. h.
Very old and quaint, could do with some renovating but you still see the beauty. The food was fabulous, room clean, bed comfy and best of all the staff were amazing and helpful xx
R. H.
Really enjoyable stay. I stay in Brighton very regularly, at various places, but having tried here for the first one this weekend, I'll be looking to return here next trip. Yes, the bathroom could do with a re grout, but I found it to be a great hotel. The room, facing out over Hotel Du Vin, was neither cold nor noisy as others have mentioned. The staff were lovely and the service was great. It has more character than the chains and is a lot better than a LOT of the ones close to it. Trust me!!!
L. B.
A little disappointed, very nice downstairs but deluxe room had wallpaper torn, furniture was very 1980's and worn, bathroom tiles broken and piece of wood covering where tiles should have been.
Food was good in the bar and excellent service.
Breakfast was perfectly edible except scrambled egg was runny.
C. P.
Our afternoon tea with prosecco was absolutely fantastic! Lovely staff, and a lovely table in the bay window people watching!!
R. B.
Centrally located , we had a sea view which is a must (for us) , room although nice , a bit dated and could do with a bit of tlc , Brighton is a bit noisy at night but ok with us , take your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper .
A. L.
Hotel is really nice, unfortunately the weather wasn't great when we visited but being right on the beach the location couldn't get much better. Only a short 15 minute walk to the train station for easy access too.
The hotel itself is a little old, and our room had a few cleaning issues which we didn't mention not being a big deal (contact lenses got wiped by the cleaner and stuck to the wall and weren't noticed) but overall things at least didn't look too bad. Breakfast in the morning was included and decent, pay for what you get.
Staff were probably the highlight all being professional and friendly throughout the hotel from check-in, bar staff to checkout.
M. S.
Had a fantastic 5 days lovely sea view room the best breakfast and dinner and the staff were really helpful they are like a big family when we walked through the front door it was like a big hug !!! Very welcoming and comfortable have booked again for a week in September
E. A.
So we booked the standard double-room with sea-view. The room was really small, was pretty hard to organize our clothes and bags over there.
We wanted to have a sea-view, but it was hard to see the sea because of the dirty windows.
When we first entered our room we could tell it was dusty and not 100% clean. I found a dry bean under the bed. Our TV remote was half-broken so it took some time to turn on/off the TV. Shower was hard to understand from the beginning, it was some old system, so we spent 20 minutes guessing how it works.
We also had breakfast included, must say the breakfast is amazing, but it is the same menu every day. Service is also very good. Bed was comfortable.
In general, I would rate our stay as 6/10, it wasnt that bad, although It did not look like a 4 star hotel. I dont have anything against old-styled interiors, but sometimes we need to mix it with new technologies to make the stay more comfortable.
L. J.
Just spent two days at this hotel. Overall an enjoyable stay. Breakfast was lovely and also attentive staff.
R. W.
Beautiful room and lovely welcoming staff. Great location.
M. K.
The main standout about this hotel is the staff. From the moment that I approached the desk, I received outstanding service from any staff member I came into contact with. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt very much welcomed.
The hotel itself is in a good spot on the sea front and if you have a sea facing view, I imagine its lovely. Our view was not ideal but this didn't bother me too much.
The rooms are a little dated but very clean - recently sanitised due to the Covid-19 shenanigans - and I felt safe knowing that.
The bed was a little too springy for my taste and a king size bed is two singles pushed together which I always think is so uncomfortable. Whomever had made up the room had not locked the bed bases together and so we had to do this so that one of us didn't fall through the crack! Mildly irritating but not really a huge issue.
The shower is a bit dribbly but the bathroom was clean and a good size, having a bath with a shower over.
Breakfast was quite basic - day 2 better than day 1 by miles (less busy) and everything served at the table. A choice between full English or the veggie version of this - with scrambled or fried egg. Three cereals, croissant and toast were available. That's it. No yoghurt or fruit or cold continental anything.
We enjoyed our short stay at The Old Ship but if were in the area again would probably stay somewhere else as there was nothing memorable to draw us back again.
S.
I was taken her for afternoon tea and didn’t really expecting much as it looks a little dated. BUT the afternoon tea was amazing and good value. Our server Louise was lovely If I was reviewing the ladies by the gym. The hotel would get zero stars. Although clean they are very dated with toilet seats hanging off and a not very nice toilet smell. I suggest you update the loos as they are really letting your hotel down!
M. B.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay at The old ship hotel. The hotel is full of character and the lobby feels like a welcoming hug. The staff is friendly and service-minded, the breakfast is excellent, the location brilliant and the room was lovely. An extra plus for the friendly staff member who needed to do some plumbing in the room next door and asked when it would disturb us the least. Also a shoutout to the lady who was hostess at the breakfast our last day, she made us feel so welcome and put a smile on our faces that lasted the rest of the day. We would love to come back!
S. M. C.
Lovely old Hotel full of character. Friendly Staff. We Had a Problem with our first room but was Quicky Sorted. A special thanks to Daniel ( The Manager) for a brilliant service. Had a great stay.
S. D.
Excellent hotel in many ways. Huge room, ultra clean, nice toiletries, bathrobes. Fab sea view. Friendly staff. Really nice breakfast except coffees machine a bit hit and miss and the sausages were undercooked but not the end of the world. The public areas are fantastic, cosy, inviting, great ambience. One of the lifts was out of order from when we arrived till we left the next afternoon. But for £90 bed and breakfast, this was a great little find!
J. C.
Loved so much here.
The easy check in which included asking about allergies for the evening meal.
Getting a little lost on the stairways and passages.
The sea view. Amazing.
The delicious evening meal. Seriously, we eat out often and this was the best meal we've had in a while.
Great customer service all round.
Good selection at breakfast.
Talented singer in the afternoon / evening in the bar.
Cocktails
Pool table
m. h.
Lots of character in an old seafront hotel. Events and friendly staff
P. H.
Had a lovely stay in this gorgeous old building. The staff were superb and they couldn't do enough for me.
The look of edwardian grandeur has to be retained as it holds a charm of it's own.... I half expected Hercule Poirot to come lightly skipping down the stairs.
The breakfast was superb and the beer very good in the nice bar. It gets a four instead of five as the car parking(although superbly attended by the staff) is very small.
S. V.
Live singer outside. Buzzing atmosphere outside. Only had a meal here but it was very nice.
L. N.
Afternoon tea at The Ship Hotel.
Great tea. The sandwiches were fresh and if you have a sweet tooth then the cakes will be right up your street. And the pink gin washed everything down very well. Staff nice and polite. Will visit again when in the area.

We went for a murder mystery event and stayed for one night, had a really great night, a well put on event. The hotel has a few quirks but it added to the creepiness of the event (broken piano, slow lift to room).
The hotel itself was ok, staff were friendly enough. We were given a room on the 3rd floor. Our TV wasn't working in our room when we first got there but they sent an engineer to fix it straight away, something to do with a fuse. There were marks on one of the fabric chairs when we got there, the staff must have known as they were pretty visible, likely that they were a struggle to get out, we barely used the room by the time we got there and attended the event so didn't complain, we weren't using it. The bed was comfy and appeared clean, there were tea and coffee facilities available in the room. There was a wardrobe, two chairs, a small table, a desk, a desk chair, TV, notepad, something to write with, a few lamps, a phone, TV and bed. TV had Freeview channels.
The decor was ok but the room was dated, bathroom was dated, I don't remember there being an extractor fan in the windowless bathroom. Bathroom was clean, shower was decent. The windows that were in the room let a lot of the wind and rain noise in but that was likely due to the servere weather conditions we stayed during rather than the quality of window.
Location was nice on the beach front, our room was quite high up away from the front, our windows were not facing the beach but to be honest the weather was really bad (windy and raining) so it didn't really make a difference to our stay.
Food was great in the evening, not sure if that was the restaurant or the from the event we were attending but compliments to the chef.
Breakfast was okay, a standard buffet style breakfast, a decent range of food. There were gluten free and vegetarian options. Staff were friendly enough. Checking out was a simple process, although a huge queue it didn't take too long. Staff were friendly and efficient.

This hotel is a must stay. Historical building with tasteful decorations and welcoming common areas. They have an outdoor patio and public bar with many comfortable seating areas. Staff really went above and beyond (checked me in 2 hours early) and were so helpful and accommodating. Best of all is the location right on the waterfront with the lanes and many places to eat nearby. Room was clean, quiet and even came with a nice view. This hotel is on the short list of the best in Brighton.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. While the rooms do not have any refrigerator, (and are quite dated) the service, views, and respect from the staff was far beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend this for couples.
Final note: Dinner service was beyond exceptional. My extensive compliments to the staff, who treated us two 21 year olds with the dignity that few others would show us. I've had many fine meals from incredibly nice accommodations, however the chicken supreme, pâté, and toffee pudding were 10/10. Would not change a thing. Cheers to the kitchen and staff.

I was here for a conference and really liked it. Several specific details. I arrived late for the conference on a Monday morning and desperately needed to freshen up before my talk in the afternoon. Although check-in was not till 3, the front desk staff listened to my plea and let me in at 1. Not necessarily something that will happen at your Hyatt or Marriott. I absolutely loved my view of the sea from my room. The toilet was clean and the room had the right amount of space. I loved my morning breakfast at the hotel and the lady who guides guests as they come in for breakfast deserves a special mention. Its a shame I don't remember her name (Gill ?) but her old-fashioned greetings and caring demeanour brightened up my mornings while I was there. Please keep it up folks.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. A couple of vegan options but could definitely use some improvements. Brilliant breakfast options and non-dairy milk provided upon request. The room was clean and big enough. The bathroom was a bit worn out but did the job. The parking is convenient and at an ok price. Everything is within walking distance so if you're staying for a couple of days you don't really need a car.
S. D.
Great location facing the beach and near the pier.
But the hotel is showing it's age in several ways.
If you can forgive and live with some blemishes
this is an ideal spot.
I found it rather expensive and parking was £25
per night.
The TV connection came and went which could also apply to the lifts which were unreliable.
Breakfasts were good, and there is an outdoor bar area. We did not visit the main dining room because there are so many restaurants immediately behind the hotel in the "Lanes"
area, with a great variety of cuisines.

Visited here in the midst of the pandemic so hotel was pretty empty. We had keyworker status and had to stay 2 nights in this hotel. Checked in quite late and with the lockdown there was no restaurant open and strict rules for eating take out food in the hotel, basically we were told quite bluntly by the chap on reception we had to eat food in our rooms which I understand but the guy had a total sense of humour bypass and lacked any empathy. The hotel itself was ok, the room numbering system on each floor is very confusing with an endless array of creaky stairs and corridors to tackle if using the stairs, using the lift was pointless as it had space the size of a small suitcase. The rooms were OK but, when I got to mine, there were no toiletries so I had to circumnavigate the creaky stair/corridor network to get back to reception to ask for some. The ladies on the desk the next morning were very pleasant and the had prepared a take away breakfast bag which was thoughtful. Overall, the hotel was OK but I would add that there is little to no parking available at the hotel meaning you have to park in the nearby multi-story which can be expensive depending on what time you arrive

From the beginning we arrived at this establishment we new that we made the right decision close to all the amenities the front of house team were excellent they made us feel very welcome as for the bar staff,,/ waiting staff in the restaurant they all do a fantastic job. plus the cleaner staff the price was of excellent value and the breakfast was of great standards we shall be visiting this hotel quite soon
m. d.
A little on the tired side and breakfast could be better but great location and very good value
R. M.
Lovely room helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Nice seating area in lounge and bar area, only the hotel needs to update the lift !! Lovely one nice stay and the sun was shinning which made a different the next morning!
B. E.
Excellent experience. Friendly, helpful staff. The building is old, has character but no air conditioning; this was not a major problem even in very hot weather as the rooms are nice and airy with high ceilings. We had a room with a sea view via a bay window. It was only marred by the outdoor DJ immediately below our window for 4 hours one day, and the singer with backing track for 3 hours another day.
J. J.
Nice hotel overall and very well located. Staff are very helpful. The hotel itself could just do with a touch up in places
J. W.
Fabulous location. The best views of the sea in the restaurant. Staff we chatted to in the bar and at breakfast service were very friendly and professional, very accommodating. Room was basic but suited our needs. Would stay again.
C. H.
Great seaview room, comfortable bed, bathrobes added a bit of luxury. Friendly and welcoming staff, excellent breakfast. Very pleasant seating and bar areas on ground floor. Didn't try out the restaurant apart from breakfast. This is an older style hotel so don't expect air conn in the bedroom, but you can open the window! It's not The Grand, but neither is the price. Overall good value for money.
d.
I booked this hotel as a short break for my daughter after her wedding. They put rose petals on the bed made swans out of towels. It was beautiful. Staff made them feel very welcome. Staff always polite and went out of there way to make them welcome. Room very clean. Would recommed to anyone and will be going back
S. H.
The bed was comfy, breakfast was ok and most staff were pleasant.
However, for the money we paid it wasn't great! The room was dated and not maintained well, as were the corridors leading up to the room, stains on carpet, bath panel falling off, view of dead pigeons out of window that the poor things had been caught in a net and just left... and then there was a leak through our ceiling. Another annoying thing was the staff on the door checking you had a room before letting you in, meaning our friends in another hotel couldn't join us for a drink. First time we've ever seen this, and they were less than welcoming on the way back in. I must add, the duty manager that dealt with our major complaint (I.e. the leak) was very helpful but the hotel needs a lot of work doing to it before we'd consider coming back.
W. C.
Great guests, lovely staff, training not so much.
W. O.
Always a pleasure to stay here. The bedrooms (the ones we know of, anyway) are comfortable, clean and have all amenities. There is parking costs extra) and sometimes no room but very useful. Not too keen on the bar as it lacks atmosphere but the staff are friendly and helpful. The range of beers is limited with no dark beers but ok.
T. G.
Love The Old Ship, always my go to Hotel when visiting Brighton with my husband or on a girlie weekend. Excellent Espresso Martini and Excellent Breakfast.
P. B.
Room was overheated, and the radiator could not be turned off. Very limited parking available - something like 10 spaces for over 100 rooms!
Breakfast was good.
H. W.
Had lunch at the old ship today .. the food was amazing !!! Definitely coming back but to stay this time and have just seen you accept dogs too !! Cant wait to book.. and the weather today was perfect to sit outside thank you so much
R. M.
The staff were really good, however the general facilities were very tired and dated. The wallpaper and ceiling paper were peeling away, the carpet was dirty and stained and the wardrobe and dressing gowns smelt musty.
We were unfortunate enough to have stayed when storm Dennis visited and this caused it's own problems that I know couldn't be helped, the wind was howling most of the night and rain was being blown in through the gaps in the windows, we were offered an alternative room but declined as we were only there for one night and didn't think it would be as bad as it actually turned out to be.....lesson learned for future.
The overnight stay was a present so we didn't pay the full cost, but I doubt that we would return as we felt it wasn't worth the price.
l. l.
Love stay in here, wonderful service awesome breakfast bar staying here you cannot go wrong
S. M.
Friendly staff, clean and extremely comfortable bed! They left a little card and gift, as on booking I noted it was for our anniversary. Very sweet and personal touch that was very appreciated. We will definitely recommend to others and will be staying again.
J. H.
Had a great stay at The Old Ship Hotel. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast included. The rooms were lovely - the bed was comfy, as was the seating, and the decor was great There was a good selection of food at breakfast, and there was a milk alternative option plus the offer of vegetarian sausages. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lift was a bit old along with the corridors, but the rest of the hotel was great!
J. E.
Our company uses this venue for corporate events, always found the staff very helpful, friendly and engaging. There are many rooms for hire and the bigger of them have some real character.
Located on the sea front it’s ideal for tourists too as you are near the pier, the pavilion is around the corner and with the lanes and Churchill square behind the hotel you are spoilt for choice with shopping, eateries and bars.
k. w.
spent a wonderful weekend at this hotel and I shall be returning very soon. The views from the lounge were lovely. A very nice and relaxing weekend away - just what the doctor ordered. The food was amazing and I've never seen breakfast choices as big as at the Old Ship Hotel.
R. C.
Stayed as at a function in the hotel I asked for a wheelchair accessible room which was fresh and modern and enough room for my manual wheelchair there's ramps and lift throughout the hotel and an accessible toilet on ground floor with direct access from hotel garage into lobby (parking is chargeable but worth it) one word of warning lift doors to access rooms are narrow with of my chair is 25 ins and just got in Hotel informed me that although lifts not suitable for larger or power chairs they can provide a manual chair that will fit if requested cannot change lifts due to building listing.
I had a great evening meal and would go back to the hotel again friendly helpful staff
T.
I think I paid a little more, but still very satisfied.
N. A.
Fantastic stay here at the weekend, was apprehensive about bad reviews however top location for beach, the lanes and good entertainment. Slightly old and outdated rooms but clean and great team of people running the hotel. Great food and atmosphere. Will definitely visit again!
s. s.
Love love loved it the view from room was pants but was there to enjoy the actual sea side not look out window gutted I did not bring my pet he could have loved it
J. C.
Good character but starting to look a bit dated. The lift is comically small and slow, and the rooms on the 3rd floor are run down. Can be noisy at weekends, can hear everything people say on the sea front at night. Bar is well stocked and service is good.
J. B.
Freindly staff, good breakfast. Worn out hotel though, grubby in places. Glad they provide earplugs as the ocean view room we were in (224) was loud up until 6am when the clubs clubs kicked out.
It's a ok place, they allow dogs which is great, but I'd probably not stay here again.

Xmas do. Food was good music was...enough said

We enjoyed our stay at the old ship. The location is great, room was nice enough although we were in the furthest room from reception and whilst there was a lift to the 4th floor there was a further set of stairs which made things a little difficult for my partner who has breathing difficulty. We didn't ask to be moved though so I can't complain as the staff could not have predicted that he was unwell. The breakfasts were great and the staff, especially the breakfast reception lady were lovely. I used the gym and had it to myself on each occasion, which saved my embarrassment! The only thing we really didn't like was the loud music performed at the front of the hotel. It was so loud that we couldn't speak t each other and even when I moved away to the promenade it was still loud.

Lovely old Hotel full of character. Friendly Staff. We Had a Problem with our first room but was Quicky Sorted. A special thanks to Daniel ( The Manager) for a brilliant service. Had a great stay.
L. B.
A little disappointed, very nice downstairs but deluxe room had wallpaper torn, furniture was very 1980's and worn, bathroom tiles broken and piece of wood covering where tiles should have been. …
S. M.
Emm, not sure right now I only arrived yesterday

I was taken her for afternoon tea and didn’t really expecting much as it looks a little dated. BUT the afternoon tea was amazing and good value. Our server Louise was lovely If I was reviewing the ladies by the gym. The hotel would get …

Great service. Friendly staff.
S. G.
Very tired overpriced hotel. Needs to allow free parking for guests!
A. L.
Hotel is really nice, unfortunately the weather wasn't great when we visited but being right on the beach the location couldn't get much better. Only a short 15 minute walk to the train station for easy access too. …
R. A.
Hotel was great and super friendly staff
thanks
T. E.
Stunning sea views; cozy, homely, vintage interiors are some of the hallmark of a stay at this hotel. The staff at The Old Ship are warm and kind.
H. P.
I had a lovely stay here with my girlfriend. The hotel is affordable, charming, and well situated in central Brighton with gorgeous sea views . The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel's bar is quite wonderful. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. Thanks you guys for making our short getaway so enjoyable!
M. B.
Groupon Deal.... Lovely stay, staff very welcoming, friendly - first time to Brighton - from Hull. Shame about 5 HR drive! Definitely be back - fab location, lots of nice bars, restaurants around within minutes walk.
e. O.
Attended the anime and gaming convention, lovely place
A. B.
Stayed overnight for a festival. Rooms are a bit old with modern fittings but perfectly functional for an overnight stay. Comfy bed and everything was clean. If you want a sea view you will have to ask. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Its also dog friendly apparently (we didn't take ours). Good value . I would stay there again.
P. S.
Always a great place to stay, great breakfasts
M. H.
Right across the road from the beach, so the location is amazing - it also backs onto the South Lanes so you're a short stroll right into the heart of Brighton and the shopping quarter. Plenty to do and see in the immediate vicinity. The hotel itself is an old building, so it has all the pros and cons of a hotel trying to fit into something that was build a few hundred years ago. Good for the location alone.
P. P.
We stayed here for a night, 29th. We loved the car parking then you walk into the hotel and it's beautiful. ( This is end of Nov so Christmas lights up too) the staff made this place! The receptionist was very welcoming who even changed our room from twin to double ( our mistake) thank you!!
The room was fine. A standard room that is lovely and clean.
We went for dinner in the restaurant and were greated very warmly by the staff there, especially a staff member whose name we didn't get but was from Portugal. Lovely lady. Breakfast was much nicer than other places we stayed. Not greasy.
We had a lovely night away. Will hopefully be back soon!
Thank you.
Rob & Lisa.

It's exactly what the name says, old ship hotel. Lift is old and small but it's quirky. Fantastic bar for cocktails, breakfast offer a great range.
I was in the standard room, bed is very comfy warm duvet. Squeeky floor boards however. Which may wake partner if you get up in the night.
Staff are very helpful, can leave luggage here If arrive before check in time and can go explore Brighton.
Partner suffers with a rare condition which effects her joints so one day we needed a wheelchair and the hotel has one for use on the premises however manager allowed us to take it out around Brighton. Made it possible for her to get out and explore.
3 min walk from the pier as well
Rated 5/5 because I would happily come again.
N. F.
Wonderful old hotel with a lot of character. Room was clean and very nicely decorated and bed was super comfy. Breakfast was nice and provided everything you could want. Very close to most attractions. Really enjoyed my stay. Thank you :)
T. M.
The room was beautiful and what you'd expect from this sort of age building. Sadly I wasn't awake in time for the breakfast so can't comment on the food but the bed was very comfy. All the hot items had been sat under the hot lights for …
J. M.
Great location, however it is a dated hotel! Stains on carpets and ceilings. The website says they have parking available but it is limited! I was told by staff to park in a car park next to the hotel and it cost £25 for 24 hours!!
A. A.
Perfect hotel for a short stay in Brighton. Right on the beach, in the center and walking distance to practically everything you want to do. Rooms are spacious and very tidy - although the walls are a bit thin. The bar is open until very late and the staff were very accomodating and friendly. Check-out is at 11 but if you call down to reception early enough they may let you have an extension until 12. The lift is old, tiny and terrifying - try and take the stairs.
F. N.
Had a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very well presented and maintained. The location is central and was very handy. We had a great stay and enjoyed waking up to such a beautiful view.
J. W.
Stayed at the Old Ship last night, very nice experience. Very comfortable bed in a nice size room with a sea view. Lovely breakfast and really pleasant staff. Best of all dog friendly. Very interesting history to the hotel making it feel quite special. Would definitely recommend.
N. H.
My room had odd brown stains on the carpet by the window, but was otherwise fine. The bed/pillows were too soft for my tastes, and the seagulls very loud, along with all of the extractor fans from nearby rooms being constant, making sleep difficult. Breakfast was a slight change from normal fare with the selection of cheeses and cured meats, but could have done with some more substantial options. The staff were all very friendly and helpful at all times, particularly the lady who (appeared) to be in charge of the breakfasts. The WiFi works well, but appears to only support one device at a time and/or prompted security warnings on my phone.
J. G.
The hotel is in a really good location. Next to beach, places to have dinner etc. The room was pretty old but clean and comfy. Be aware of the wind on the beach. Hotel stuff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok but it would be better if they had more variety of fruit and food in general.
D. H.
Lovely lovely staff - shout out to Les and Martin in the car park, our dinner waiter Solomon was great, really helpful. The breakfast lady was fantastic, I didn’t catch her name but she was so welcoming, helpful n fun!
It is a bit dated, but clean and not fake looking - charming!
Will definitely stay again!!
E. C.
Incredible hotel, very polite attentive staff, honestly canot wait to stay here again, children and dog friendly aswell 5 stars
C. T.
The room was clean...The hotel needs to renovate very old no air conditioning the bathroom was very hot not a lot if space...We stayed on the 5th floor the views was really nice.
R. W.
Room was lovely, plenty of space, unfortunate that we did not have the sea view. Old hotel, but plenty of character, and right next to Lanes car park. Limited hotel parking underground, but pricing much the same £25 for 24 hours. Most car parks in town more expensive.
Location, easy access to Lanes, and plenty of eating locations. Breakfast really good, plenty of choice, and variety.
J. P.
Very comfy, . We went to a Murder Mystery there and had a really good time. Only down side was being charged £5 for a small glass of Harvey's Bristol Cream. Could have bought a bottle for £10.
But could not fault the hotel. Food was delicious.
T. H.
Great seating overlooking the sea. They charge a 10% gratuity like most places these days. Beware of it. We had great salads with chicken for 15pounds each. Not bad considering the location. Prepare to pay when you order, there are no tabs for people sitting on the front (understandably).
R. D.
Great location, great attentive staff and room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also very nice. Will definitely be back, Dog friendly as well. Highly Recommended
J. W.
Great hotel and very dog friendly
J. R.
This is our first stay there since our wedding reception the years ago. Not much has changed. Still a nice hotel by noticed a couple of tiny things in the room that didn't ruin out stay, just took a tiny bit of since off of it like a couple of cracked tiles, carpet stains, one of the taps was not the same as the others. Things like that as I said don't run your stay it just takes any chance of getting a wow factor. Still t breakfast was good.
H.
Nice place to stay. Room with sea view can be a bit noisy from the road outside, if you want to keep the windows open. But as someone said we are in Brighton :-). Room provided with a fan so can close the window and not be too hot. Wakeup with stunning view ... lovely feeling.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
Thank you for such a great experience.
J. S.
Looks very old, unkept & dated from outside. Had it's best days. Much better inside though
p. w.
Always enjoy this place for a drink and if I didn't live so close I would definitely stay here.Tables nicely spaced out and when its sunny it is nice to sit outside.
D. E.
It seems that it's tricky getting a drink for a family of four in Brighton on a Sunday night but this place was happy to accept us. Good service and the prices weren't too much of a pi$$ take considering it's a big old hotel right on the front.
T. M.
Loved Brighton and we didn't go to stay in the room so for our needs it was just fine. Very welcome as it was an extremely hot day and I'd walked down from the station. Friendly staff and very helpful. Some bizarre fix to the ceiling where …

Stunning sea views; cozy, homely, vintage interiors are some of the hallmark of a stay at this hotel. The staff at The Old Ship are warm and kind.

the location was perfect as it wasn't too far from anything. Hotel staff were all well mannered. However our hotel room was a bit dirty but we didn't complain so i can not comment on the speed of their resolution. The shower gel was also very nice and due to the hot weather a fan was set up on arival.
B. P.
Incredibly helpful staff and clean, spacious, well-equipped rooms. Bathroom could be modernised but overall very happy with our stay. Fantastic beachfront location central to the lanes with several highly recommended local bars nearby.
R. R.
Seafront hotel, good sea views and nice outdoors seating area. We got our rooms on a discounted rate, first night's sleep was a bit disturbed as the room was very warm despite the fan provided, and a draft caused the room door to shake causing considerable noise. We preferred to eat meals elsewhere as the cost of eating at the hotel was very high. All in all very good value for money taking into consideration the cost of the rooms and the location.
J. H.
So... This is a tale of two halves, a true heaven and hell! The downstairs of the hotel; reception, bar, dining room is lovely and has been tastefully designed. Whilst the floorboards may creak and moan, you can forgive the hotel as it's an old building. Unfortunately, the bar prices seem to have jumped since last year (the hotel is now owned by a different chain too), plus the automatic service charge for drinks in the evening is simply preposterous. Then it really goes downhill... As soon as get past the first floor a sense of The Shining kicks in. The hotel has been left to waste away in the upper floors, the bedrooms are tragic, the bathrooms often dirty...in fact the whole hotel needs a good clean! They are trying to charge very highly at The Old Ship, unfortunately I keep hearing a certain Hotel Inspector's comments..... 'You can't polish a turd'!

Booked into the The Old Ship Hotel at the weekend for our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
We had a Superb room with Sea view and
were left a lovely card and box of chocolates for our Anniversary.
The Staff were really friendly and polite.
Breakfast was Brilliant with lots of choice.
Close to all amenities and Restaurants.
Parking was a bit awkward as it was a Saturday, but we found a long stay car park a short walk away for £16 for 24 hours.
We had a lovely time and can't wait to go back.
Highly Recommended.

Great location. Food and drink service slow. Inadequate lift arrangemrnts
D. C.
Nice hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms are really nice if not very slightly dated. With the amount there is to do in Brighton you shouldn't be in the hotel long. Breakfast was very nice, well cooked and plenty on offer. The car park is tiny and there's no way to pre-book so does get full. Would happily stay here again and recommend to friends. After check out you can leave your bags with them, the staff couldn't have made it easier and it clearly wasn't a problem. Little touches like this show they care.
B. W.
I liked it, stayed quite recently. Very comfortable, and the staff in the main were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. Great position close to the front, so good for lovely sea walks and to sit and people watch. I do like Brighton.
J. B.
It's quirky but seriously nice. I would highly recommend a room with a sea view, as waking up to it is amazing. Love the decoration ilooks like a cobble together of all the furniture available but it's carefully done to make it feel homely and comfortable. Had a great stay here and would highly recommend them.
X. W.
A beautiful old hotel with a good balance of character and modern amenities. The bar area is well furnished and clean and the bar has a passable range of drinks options. I'll definitely be returning here to have dinner or stay the night at some point. It's right on the sea front, so perfect for summer sun seekers looking for a posh weekend away.
L. M.
The Old Ship Hotel is a bit outdated, the rooms have an 80s feeling but are very clean. The staff is really friendly and helpful if you need any assistance. The location is amazing you are right at the beach and the city centre is only a few minutes away. For my personal taste it's a bit pricey if you consider that its best years are probably in the past, but hopefully renovations will restore its former glory.
J. B.
Helpful and friendly staff, the hotel was an old building with new furnishings and well keeped rooms. The breakfast was a continental and full English. Thery continuously refilled with freshly cooked food and was refreshing that the eggs were cooked to a very good standard.
V. J.
Attended an 80s dance class in one of the spaces available for events. It was quite tucked away and not as new and modern as the rest of the communal spaces but had charm and was a perfect space for just such an event. The only negative was that the women's toilets were quite far away from the main reception and not particularly well decorated or modern. The hotel itself is very well located on the sea front.
A. B.
Pretty good 4 star hotel. Staff are really welcoming. A bit like the Overlook Hotel in the Shining but less creepy. They have a pretty cool old elevator and breakfast and dinner were delicious.
J. C.
Lovely building, good food, but limited menu. Service good with friendly, helpful staff
S. M.
Brilliant. Had entertainment lovely lady singing. She go the whole place rocking and people walking past highly recommend you go on a Sunday
M. N.
Stayed here for a conference, staff were friendly and helpful. As the name suggest it is old and has a history that goes back quite away...and staff say it is haunted...that said i was very comfortable...it is mixed old and contemporary decor. And some of my fellow delegates found they had problems with hot water, noises from outside the building depending on what side of the building your room is on and some experience even electrical disturbences.
All in all though never judge a book by the cover...nice place right on the sea front with lots of pubs and eating places....
M. B.
Recently renovated. Hotel is by the beach at a great location. Rooms are on an expensive scale but still medium quality. I liked the old style elevators and the classic decoration inside this hotel. Staff were lovely and welcoming as well.
A. r.
I've stayed here twice now and couldn't be happier with the cleanliness and the service. Close to some lovely restaurants and cozy pubs not to mention the sea. Loved it and would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
D. S.
Lively room. Great breakfast. Comfort and care all round. Will return

We booked a large double quiet ensuite room for 5 nights from 8th June 2017 at The Old Ship Hotel. The location was ideal as we were attending a wedding at The Hotel Du Vin next door. We were given a room on the fourth floor, at the side of the hotel. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished in keeping with its era. Interesting information about the history of the hotel is presented very well, and the patio terrace at the front of the hotel is a lovely bonus for a drink in the sun by the sea.
The bathroom had toothpaste splashes on the sink tiles & the mirror which stayed there, hairs in the bath & dust on the picture frames. Bed clean, but small. No hairdryer in room and had to ring reception twice to request this .Very hot attic room, with fan that seems faulty & sash windows that only open 2" for safety reasons & to prevent Cedric the resident seagull entering! Cleaners cloth left on dressing table. Possibly resident staff in nearby rooms as we were disturbed by heavy footsteps on stairs outside the room & door slamming at 7am & 11pm.
Food at breakfast OK. No queue at breakfast, but two "bear with me" comments from "Gill" the endearingly eccentric breakfast greeter, who disappeared twice, then reappeared with "we've done over 100 breakfasts already today you know!" Gill however was the ONLY breakfast member of staff to smile and say hello in the whole 5 days we were there. Breakfast waiting staff chewing gum, yawning, looking depressed or disinterested in their tasks. One in particular standing staring into space behind a pillar for long moments. ''Louise'' however was quietly efficient and competent. On our first morning we waited 15 minutes for a pot of tea. Milk for cereals ran out, and I observed 3 customers ask for more, before it was attended too. However, the Bar staff were pleasant and attentive at all times and reception staff informative.

Lovely staff and very welcoming vibe to the hotel with the old fashioned kind of feel with great unlimited breakfast in the morning and the bar in the lobby for evening. The bathrooms also have plenty of hot water and have a bath and shower. The rooms have Tvs too playing pretty much all the English channels. The hotel also has WiFi

Oldschool hotel, great for that vintage feeling. Had a room with sea view that was absolutely lovely. It's an old building, so keep in mind that you'll hear all the noise even from the top floors. Took away one star because the staff wasn't able to make me a coffee in the mornings (I had no breakfast booked but was obviously ready to pay for the espresso). Well, I went for one of the numerous coffee houses outside.
V. O.
We had a pleasant stay at the Old Ship Hotel. Located on the sea front and at a decent walkable distance to the lanes, pier, shopping area and nightlife. On the flip side, we were disappointed with the mattress of our bed which clearly needs to be changed. Also what looked at first like a neat tray with kettle, coffee and tea turned out to be a strategic cover up for a ridiculously small lead the length of one's hand: we had to balance the kettle on an upside down bin to enjoy a coffee!
J. H. N.
Great view over the ocean from the rooms.
Very noisy due to the beach bar just opposite the hotel.
Hotel somewhat run down and could do with an upgrade of the rooms.
R. S.
This hotel has a lot of character due to its age. It makes a nice change from modern hotels. The restaurant and breakfast area is situated right on the seafront with fantastic sea views. For a group booking try the cellar restaurant which is a superb experience.

Location is very central. Good access to Brighton attractions. Rooms are tidy. Renovation work underway whilst I stayed. Looks like it will be very presentable once completed. Had breakfast in morning. Something for everyone included. Food was good. No complaints will definitely be staying again.

Stayed overnight after an event next door at the Jury's Inn, great staff and the bar was still open when we came in at the end of the night ( 2am) 👌 room was a bit dated as were other parts of the hotel but clean and tidy all the same, bed was very comfy and HUGE ! ☺ breakfast was excelent, plenty of choice and the hot items were freshly cooked and being toped up constantly , would stay again ☺
A. E.
Was a lovely stay at the old ship. Went on a wowcher so was within budget. Room was clean...floor very creaky (room 227) but kind of added to the character..very spacious reception areas. Not much choice for main menu but breakfast had everything you would need to set you up for the day. The weather added to the lovely stay. Sea view..and in the morning the sun was shinning through the window and the peaceful sound of the waves. Also a late check out as we could of checked out at 1 pm if we had chosen to. We would definatly go back again...even more of a bonus it was a 5 minute walk to the Brighton centre where we went to see australian pink Floyd...who were amazing by the way 😀😀
E. H.
Rooms are a little tired looking but this is an old hotel. Bed very comfy, room clean enough and quiet. Food excellent with supurb sea front views in the restaurant. The staff have been great, impecable customer services. Definitely recommend
S. B.
I travelled solo to Brighton from Lincolnshire by train.... very easy ...train to Kings Cross bus to Victoria train to Brighton This was my Birthday and I was delighted to find chocolates in my room from the hotel team A lovely touch and much appreciated. The hotel is well appointed and seafront location is a .plus. Taxi to Royal Pavilion /or station is c£5. All the staff were friendly which matters when you are alone. The weather was terrible but the hotel was well heated. It is large and in summer will be buzzing. Dining room could do with an uplift it seemed cavernous but after all there were few guests in February. The only things Ii missed were a tablecloth and someone serving coffee ( which happened in September at Imperial Blackpool another of the Hotel Collection) rather than the machines which are fine for business people in a rush but I do enjoy a coffee first. In the evening Maitre D was friendly and efficient . Enjoyed my two nights and have booked again for October another pleasant experience
S. E.
Great for an overnight stay. Well placed on the seafront. Covid aware and breakfast bags provided as kitchen closed. Would return.
R. H.
Great central location. Spacious room and bathroom not in the "standard hotels layout". BUT, woefully long check in, cramped, somewhat 'ratty' lift (from the 1960s?); bodged bathroom in need of a spruce up with shower in cramped bath and no help for poorly abled; room noisy with windows open but too hot and stuffy with them closed. Breakfast the standard fare and distinctly average. Whole place needs gutting and restoring.
S.
The staff, room and location were all fantastic! We had a seaview room so there was a lot of noise from the front, but the hotel provided us with ear plugs, so our sleep wasn't disturbed. Overall, a great stay.
T. M.
We spent a Sunday night at this hotel and were very impressed from the outset. There was entertainment each evening consisting of a singer with a backing track who tried to cover the interests of the wide age range of guests. The good bits are it's location, and the restaurant.
A. W.
Had a great 2 night stay. Staff were helpful, very good range for breakfast for an additional £10 option. The building is old and the only pin point was the fan in the room wasnt great and we requested an additional one which they did promptly if im being really critical, highly recommend staying here
A. F.
Lovely hotel and beautifully decorated rooms for the most part. Staying in a room without a Sea view we still had trouble with noise of drunk people walking along the beach. Also the room was very cold as only single glazed windows and radiator was terrible.
J. B.
Nice hotel. Reception rooms well decorated. The only problem being the heat. We had the radiator turned off, the fan on and the window open and it was swelteringly hot all night. In February! I don't know why it was so unpleasantly hot, but it made for a very uncomfortable stay.
D. G.
We had issues with room. The staff is responsive. However the discomfort which was created wasn't compensated. Wasted 2 hours before the organized dinner. The other hotels tend to treat customers with more respect. Nevertheless
R. N.
A tough reveiw, a stunning hotel Inca stunning location . Helpful staff great facilities friendly bar and clean rooms.. Bed time on a Friday night was a nightmare .We endured a loud vibrating boom from a noisy night club then from 01.00 o'clock to around 04.30 am we endured loud mouthed drunken night clubbers shouting at each other then finally at 04.30 it calmed down then we had car horn beeping till 06.00 ISH then peace and quiet....then beeping from the reversing dustbin lorry then 15 mins of bashing and crashing then we got some peace.....we will not be going back .
T. W.
Lovely night spent here with work. Room and interior was a bit confused and outdated.
1 lift was all that was available so I took the stairs whenever needed from the 4th floor as it never appeared on my floor empty or within a good couple minute wait.
K. B.
Spent a Sunday night of a bank holiday weekend here for my husband's 40th birthday. We stayed in a king room, it was clean and the décor was fresh. A plate iced with "Happy Birthday" and two muffins had been left in the room with a note wishing us a pleasant stay which was a lovely gesture. All staff were friendly and polite. The barman wasn't sure how to make a Mojito but it was entertaining watching his effort. The bar was quiet which was perfect for us! Breakfast was great, plenty of choice. We opted for the traditional cooked buffet and weren't disappointed. Our room was on the 4th floor away from the sea front and there was still a lot of noise from revellers and seagulls throughout the night. But it's Brighton it's going to be noisy and having compared prices with other hotels along the seafront I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Ship.
N. H.
Have celebrated 3 family birthdays here this year and have had excellent food and service. Afternoon tea and bar food is excellent. The staff are polite and attentive and the ambience very pleasent. The young child in our party has been treated very well too. Thank you chef, Zosia and all other staff.
A. M.
Cosy casual place for afternoon tea. Great tasty food. Outside seating with views of the sea. 1m to the beach.
Great facilities for AGM's or conferences as the self help buffet meals are substantial and tasty.
Car park facilities available. Wheelchair friendly. Hotel De Vin opposite to also spoil yourself. A bit more upmarket good for drinks and...
G.
The hotel is a bit tired but amenities and room was very spacious and clean. The hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and felt confident that the hotel was handling the covid-19 situation well
T. M.
The rooms are pleasant and maintain the pleasing aesthetic of the common areas. The water pressure in the shower was only just sufficient to wash the soap from the skin and not befitting the standard suggested. Thank u to everyone and the old ship for making mine and my partners stay amazing.
O. M.
I stayed at the Old Ship Hotel for one night, in a twin non-sea-view room.
The hotel is positioned prominently on the seafront, but the parking arrangements are not immediately obvious. This involves driving partway down a side street, into the side of the building, where you will be meet the car park operator. This semi-enclosed space is extremely dingy and is certainly not a grand entrance to the hotel, but the operators are friendly and efficient. The car park is securely locked at night. A series of corridors give access to the lobby, from the car park. The strangeness of this corridor was impossible to ignore for me - it seemed to slope and twist about on ramps, creating a fascinating distorted effect. Use of patterned wallpapers here only seem to exaggerate the effect. All of this is probably due to the age of the building. This also goes for the route taken to the lobby toilets, which is truly ridiculous in its complexity.
Anyway, the rest of the hotel is more orderly and of a good standard, based on my personal experience. The lobby is quite classy, and the rooms are clean and well-decorated. I was positively surprised to be provided with a partial sea-view, despite my booking specification; a section of beach and the Palace Pier could be seen from my window. The beds were quite comfortable and without dirt, and the en-suite bathroom was well-equipped and clean. If you like technology, then there is free WIFI and Freeview television for you to use.
There appears to be a very erratic game of chance in what view will be presented at your window. I was quite lucky with the partial sea-view, but some other people, including my parents in another room, had a view of a flat roof with air conditioning units. The view quality varies throughout the hotel, so book a sea view room, if you care about the view and do not want to risk disappointment.
If anyone is interested in old elevators (not myself necessarily), then you will enjoy the c.1950s Otis elevators, which scarcely hold more than four people.
Overall, I had a very good experience at this hotel, and the building's eccentricities brought great amusement.
T. M.
Much cheaper than doing the bed rooms properly. Fantastic location near the pier in Brighton and right in front of the sea. The shift ***ager came over after a few minutes and was friendly, but provided no reason or resolution. Brighton is a great place to visit and would recommend this hotel.
G. S.
Decent rooms, friendly staff and usual choice of English breakfast or cereals, chopped fruits, meats and cheese.
Slow service in the hotel bar should you choose to drink there. Otherwise would probably use again as a great location on the seafront.
S. M.
Nice old fashioned clean hotel on sea front. I was on a floor very top and lift did not go that far. Room a little small but nice as was bathroom. Value for money. What wasn't nice was an empty biscuit wrapper and crumbs on bedside table from previous occupant. Plus cover to their keycard left behind with dates for the room up to and after my stay. So they had moved rooms or left early. Evening meal total dissapointment. Had meal at bar. Ordered burger without chutney. Came with chutney. Took back and another came no chutney but with re-heated chips which were over cooked and too hard to eat. Ordered profiteroles for dessert. Choux pastry had consistency of crispy biscuit. So helpful for diet! Breakfast was excellent though. Plenty of choice hot and cold.
K. J.
all good ..staff very good .....sorry to say lack of hot water which i am sure they are aware of
but its very difficult when everone wants a shower about 7 but all the little touches made up for it thanks for birthday card ...great stay
R. c.
Very nice and friendly service great position for the lane's
S. O.
Nice stay Room warm, clean and good facilities. Position excellent.
Would have been better with breakfast included in price and parking cost are appalling.well aware that Brighton trying to cut down on cars but for visitors the cost of parking is very off putting.
T. M.
Great location by the sea front and next door to The Lanes. Hot drinks are served to the your table right away and refilled. The following day we had afternoon tea and cakes which was good. We did not eat here but at least there was a coffee maker in the room for morning coffee.
J. O.
Service is fantastic, I was lucky enough to stay in a refurbished room which was modern, clean and extremely comfortable. The location is right on the seafront so the views are great. Loads of choice for breakfast including hot and cold food. Overall an extremely good experience.
X. B.
It's ok for a old hotel did not know dogs are aloud would of took mine
M. W.
Very nice place to stay. Bed was comfy and bathroom was big and clean. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was plentiful and well cooked, good selection to choose from.
D. W.
Not so good this visit not sure how it's a 4 star wheels were off the bed, thermostats on shower didn't work properly and breakfast was warm at best
A. L. L.
Stunning hotel with wonderful staff.
y. z.
Rooms are clean and spacious. Funding your room can be difficult as the hotel is very old and the there are tons of narrow hallways, but i found this to more charming than inconvenient. Staff is very nice and the location can't be beat.
G. M.
Very nice hotel and staff, my package inc. Breakfast, which thankfully was self serve, plenty of choice! . Hotel itself was very clean and tidy and had a tasteful decor inside and outside, would certainly recommend coming here again, my only gripe would be the noise within the room, quite a few buzzing noises every now and then, which was a little annoying. 9/10
M. E.
This hotel has some nice old charm. Centrally located and within a 15 minute walk from most key places in Brighton. The old charm does come with the drawback of the lack of air conditioning, just something to consider. Otherwise, the staff are friendly, the rooms are nice and clean, the views are great.
R. F.
Good location, average room, good breakfast.
Don’t ask for a late checkout. I was asked to pay £40 for two extra hours. Which I politely declined. This could be a Brighton and not hotel specific.
T. M.
Location is excellent. The handle had paint over it due to clumsy paintwork. The service was excellent and food was served in good timing. I gave it a rub with a cloth and it wouldn't have taken much to clean it off. Rooms are dated and could do with an upgrade.
H. J.
Stay was good. Room does need decorating though. Hallway in desperate need of a new carpet! Was threadbare in patches! Breakfast was lovely. No issues with WiFi as other people mentioned. Brilliant location, close to pier and Brighton centre. Would stay again.
M. A.
Lovely hotel, very good service for the price we paid. Only downsides very warm, heating was on and made the hotel far to uncomfortable, the rooms require sound proofing as could here people talking next door and was walking above.
I. Y.
Overall, hotel was clean and amenities were good. Went there for an organized event and staff was accommodating and professional. Other perks include a large and clean outdoor seating area and plenty of indoor seating for business meetings or individual study.
C. B.
The lovely singer Alison David rocks the house on a Saturday. Bloody awesome 😊
J. C.
Our room didn't have a main light so making tea in the dark was a struggle. Rooms could do with renovations but for somewhere to sleep its fine. Staff were lovely.
C. M.
Loved our stay here. Room was gorgeous. Bed was lovely and comfy. Staff were very friendly. Food in the restaurant for breakfast was good. Would defo come back.
g. w. w.
Great hotel but can be hard to sleep at weekends if your on 1st floor on the side street side of the hotel. Many people shouting all night when leaving bars and clubs.room 129 was in a bad location
The breakfast is very good and we had Saturday dinner at the hotel's restaurant and it was very good and good price for location.
Shame they did not spend a bit more money on room window to block the street sounds. Would stay again but not on 1st floor and not on the side of the hotel what is on ship street.
H. P.
We celebrated a family get together at the weekend. It was actually mine and my partners Sten Do, and a poignant time for us as our familied were meeting for the first time. We hired out The Cellars, and oh my god, we were blown away by the whole evening! The venue looked absolutely amazing, the candles were a perfect touch, the staff on hand were fabulous and catered extremely well to our needs. I can't express how impressed we qere with the standard of service, from booking the venue, right up to the actual night and throughout. Thank you ever so much for making a nervous gathering turn into an amazing evening. Special thanks to Meg and her team for pandering to our needs and Christine/Chrissy? for the music on the night ;)
A. S.
Location: Beachfront and close to restaurants and the main street.
Rooms: Comfortable, clean bathroom but not quite soundproof. However ear plugs were provided.
Price: Good value for money
Overall: Good experience and welcoming staff
T. M.
Beautiful sunny Sunday in Brighton lovely spot sitting out the front, comfy seatsdownhill from here. The room was overlooking the sea front, the view was great but as it was warm we had to open the windows. Bearing no relation whatsoever to the lovely rooms shown on the website.
T. M.
The hotel is right on the seafront making it just a few minutes walk from the lanes and the pier. The new room was further down the corridor. The room was clean and tidy. I would absolutely return to this hotel but next time I will treat myself to an upgrade.
J. L.
The hotel definitely has character, though I'd have happily swapped it for consistent climate control. The laws of physics seem to be suspended within its walls, with alternating frozen & roasted areas as you move through the hotel. The attitude of the staff is a testament to how popular a hotel is, and I can only assume that an inexhaustible supply of customers must be queuing for the Old Ship. Surely there's no other explanation for the team's obliviousness to their customers' needs, frankly rude disposition and 'race to the bottom' approach to competency. Two stars only for the location (Brighton does rock) & the value. The third star? Pool table in the bar.
T. E.
Stayed here more than 10 times while on business. What I like about this place is that the service is consistent while the rooms all have their slight querks in size and shape. They always come with a reasonable size and have tv, good WiFi, ironing board and tea and coffee. The breakfast is normally buffet style and occasionally served. There's all sorts on offer and it's genrally good. Hotel is located on the seafront in a great position for work in Brighton and if on holiday. There is a bar (I've never used it) and plenty of lounge space.
L. R.
Lovely old hotel. Cosy beds. Would stay again despite the wait for hot water to arrive in the bathroom. Good food. A lovely lively atmosphere.
D. P.
Very dated décor (you could say it's part of the charm) although there's a lot of paint flaking off some of the doors and the toilets are less than desireable! That all said, fantastic value for money and the beds were surprisingly comfy
K. M.
Ideal location, lovely comfortable room and a tasty breakfast. Highly recommended.
A. G.
Great hotel. The staff were all so helpful and accommodating. Especially Manuel who was very kind and helpful. We'll definitely be returning,
M. “. H.
Pleasent staff and nice hotel. Food was good and resonably priced. Altogether a nice stay. Only criticism is how creaky the floor boards are within the rooms. Did feel concious that i was keeping other guests awake everytime i moved around the room.
P. I. (.
Location is great, rooms are decent-ish and service is fantastic.
Parking is £25 a day, which is kinda crap for a place I'm already paying to stay at and while we initially intended to book seaview rooms, we booked Superior, assuming it would be, y'know Superior, but none of them are seaview.
The breakfast is worth the purchase though.
s. m.
Nice outdoor seating area, and friendly vibe.
The cocktails are well made, and because it is a hotel, the facillities are very clean.
Great place for pre-club drinks.
K. P.
Great service,lovely food,nice surroundings recommended.
T. M.
I'm actually pretty much always cold and so for me to be too hot is quite something. The floors creak so much that it is impossible not to be irritated our rooms 226 227 were clean but tired. Most of staff, particularly David, trying their best but ***agement clearly not organised the rota correctly.
D. H.
Just had my junior school prom 20/7/18 service was excellent and the fruit juice was fabulous the cakes where outstanding, one little problem there wasn't enough for all 13 of us we all wanted to eat around 5 each! because they were so nice! If you have any free sample send them in ton us ;) thanks for everything!!
D. S.
Nice hotel if getting a bit tatty round the edges in my room. Loved the pictures of mods and rockers in the foyer and bar. And had some nice bar food- can recommend the steak sandwich.
R. H.
Myself and my niece had an afternoon tea, which was delicious; even though a few more sandwiches would have been nice.
The young lady who served us was absolutely fantastic.
V. K.
Rooms are slightly dated, but that doesn't take away from the charms of the hotel. Great location; very central and on the beach front. The staff are amazing; very friendly and helpful.
I. E.
Nice hotel for the money. Great views with awesome bar/patio to sit at. Definitely an old hotel with dated fixtures, no ac, etc. But maintained well. Staff was friendly and helpful.
P.
Nice hotel, proper sea view! Food lovely on restaurant, one of the better breakfasts. On the sea front and close to everything. Staff good
Planning another visit
D. W.
The staff are very helpful; nothing is too much trouble. Whilst there are still parts of the hotel that need updating, overall it's fine. The only unfortunate thing is the location because while the views are great, the noise after sundown - which continues until sunrise - makes sleep virtually impossible.
H. T.
Fantastic location on the sea front stayed at the ship a few times, only 10 minutes walk from the train station. Only done B&B the breakfast is okay the drinks in the bar are reasonably priced for Brighton.
A. T.
4/10. Good location on the beach front but rooms are to be desired, bed bowing in centre. Tv remote broken and falling apart.
T. H.
Great location but the menu was limited and difficult to find room for 5 to eat. The fish and chips were disappointing, especially given the price when compared to the shop next door. There was also an out of place seeming DJ. The service was great.
j. h.
The room was comfortable and clean and the staff were fantastic during the wedding. Very polite and very very helpful. I would absolutely recommend it. One the best hotel experiences I've ever had
d. m.
We have just spent 5 days at this hotel, our room was not hoovered or dusted once while we were there. Every day l told reception that our phone was not working and still was not on the day we booked out. The patio area was dirty. Service was a word tat te staff did not understand. As to being a 4 star hotel it needs a shake up.
M. C.
Very grand, luxurious hotel. Mix of traditional and modern decor. Drinks prices are reasonable, less than I was expecting. Overall a great wedding reception in the Ballroom.
P. C.
Very nice hotel. Lovely food. We were at the front so it was quite noisy outside during the night which is nothing to do with the hotel.
M. L.
Excellent, lovely food ,excellent service, nothing too much trouble, will definitely come again 😀.
M. E.
Top notch service delivery. It's home away from home
B. B.
First hotel to ever welcome me with a furry member of the family like they are a part of the family and not a pet. 5/5 reccomend!!!!
S. G.
Very tired overpriced hotel. Needs to allow free parking for guests!
C. P.
I didn't go inside but they have live performances on the weekends which draw a crowd
A. G.
Nice enough. Our room was a bit tired and could do with a redecorate. Hotel car park is on a 1st come 1st served basis and costs £25. You can do cheaper but will have to walk about 10 minutes (regency square).
E. S.
Only stayed one night, murder mystery experience, very entertaining, comfortable room, nice and clean, smart restaurant with great menu and delicious food. Kind staff who are always ready to please you.
P. C.
Friendly staff brilliant location definitely be back
M. L.
Lovely place. The lady who served us, Gill I think was delightful and encapsulated Brighton. We had a nice chat about a hungry seagull waiting to devour my friends scrambled egg. Thank you Gill!
N. V.
We had a lovely stay, great view, nice room and very tasty full English breakfast.
S. B.
A really lovely hotel, I stayed with my teenage daughter and we both think the hotel is well worth 5 stars, great location, friendly staff and service. We would definitely use this hotel again and now knowing it is dog friendly possibly bring our dog.
T. M.
We had a nice weekend at the hotel. We book sea view with a door that opens with a small balcony that you cant use just for dors to open onto. We paid £198 for a double standard room which is a bit expensive but in line with Brighton sea front location.
T. M.
Came for my late birthday gift
Cosy rooms, fantastic staff, well stocked comfortable bar and breakfast hall, we even had a surprise of having an upgraded room !! We could not recommend this hotel enough
T. M.
My friend and I planned a lovely day trip to Brighton as we had a voucher for Afternoon Tea. Not a cheap stay but we received the quality and service you would expect from a cheap/ budget hotel. There was a little noise in the early hours of the morning but it can't be helped and certainly isn't the hotel's fault.
T. M.
The Old Ship Hotel is located on the seafront just a few minutes walk from the pier and the lanes in Brighton. The Lanes are right there and the town is very walkable. The hotel provides ear plugs which did help but if you are a light …
M. K.
Lovely position, had a sea view. Staff couldn't have done more to assist.
E. F.
Nice. Great location. Not the swishest or modernist of places and no great view from room but a stones throw to the sea and in and among the hubbub. Nice staff.
N. C.
Hotel absolutely faultless. Excellent A LA Carte food. But a nightmare to park anywhere within 2 miles for under £25 a night. No parking at hotel.
D. C.
Lovely hotel and they had 2 great singers out side when we went only complaint would be the drinks are very expensive but then most hotels are these days. Lovely clean rooms and great location
L. D.
I cannot rate these guys highly enough. The staff are so friendly and the hotel is beautifully well-kept. I wish I had stayed here years ago. This is my new go-to hotel when staying in Brighton! Thank you Old Ship :)
D. K.
Great staff and top location. May not be as modern as other hotels but still really enjoyed our visit. Parking is £25 a day
P. W.
A good place with friendly staff. Laid back atmosphere and good old English feel. Nice location on the seafront and lots of places to explore and all walking distance from the hotel.
K. B.
We have always enjoyed our stay at this lovely old hotel great location along the sea front, staff are always friendly and helpful and the food great. What is a bonus to is the parking of your car in their own car park.
C. C.
Well located on the sea front in Brighton. The public rooms on the ground floor are smart and current. Some of the bedrooms are a bit tired and dated. Good staff.
s. p.
Great location, 3 minutes from The Lanes and one block down from Brighton centre. Accommodation a mixture of old and new, but comfortable. Breakfast great. Ideal place to stay as its close to the centre of town.
M. G.
Really lovely hotel, bar was brilliant with live singer. Lovely atmosphere & beds very comfy. Staff lovely too.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
A. P.
Perfect to stay for a break. Lovely staff - shame the lift wasn't working!
c. s.
Noisy sea view room, but over compensated by the friendly, professional staff. Absolutely the best . The food although not a huge choice was very tasty and beautifully presented, The strawberries and cream were out of this world,
M. H.
Excellent rooms with all facilities needed Inc iron. Very friendly staff who were always helpful and polite. Would stay again and recommend to friends. Prime location as on the sea front.
L. C.
Good stay at the place. An old building but very well maintained. Very spacious room. The breakfast was wonderful. Very close to the city centre and the beach.
C. H.
Fabulous old and creaky hotel great sea views, lovely breakfast and staff. Lots of Brighton Mods history on display.
C. D.
Very nice room size, upgraded to king for free. Rooms could do with a small touch up but nice quality and service was good. Great location right on the seafront.
D. P.
We stayed at the old ship for a weekend break. We went to a beegees tribute evening and enjoied a delicious meal along side it. The staff a friendly and helpful and although the hotel is old, everywhere is clean. We will definatly be coming back here again.
O. C.
Situated perfectly on the sea front. The floor throughout the hotel is so creaky that you won't get much sleep if you're a light sleeper. If you can deal with that then it's a great hotel.
S. H.
Lovely environment for drinks after hot day at the seaside. Friendly staff, good service. Table was a bit too low for the table we sat at but the seats were comfortable.
S. W.
Fab hotel with good breakfast buffet and very comfortable bedrooms. Staff helpful. Sea views. Great value with out-of-season special offers.
H. W.
We attended a belly dancing class in the Bounce studio in the garage. The class was fantastic. But the room, as lovely as it was, wasn't really kitted out to hold an exercise class and facilities were quite far away
E. H.
Perfect location and friendly staff. We read some reviews before we booked and although we were generally very happy with the hotel, the rooms were a little tired, just like we had read in other reviews.
K. d.
Rooms good little tired but good
Staff are amazing and a credit to the hotel would stay again if I went back to Brighton
K. H.
Very dog friendly hotel. The staff are nice and cheerful. Located in Central Brighton, one minute away from the beach. Will go again!!
