Beers & Bao Buns - what’s not to love?! Simply delicious - my vegan Bao Buns were SOOO good. Wish we lived closer as we’d visit here regularly. It’s a really nice pub inside too. 5*s!

One of my favourite lunch spots in Brighton. Exceptional food. Don't be fooled by the small menu, every item on there is delicious. I usually go for the pork bao but today they had a special Katsu curry bao which was to die for!! The place is small and fills up rapidly so best advice to get there before 12:30 if you're having lunch. Or drop in for a late lunch in the afternoon. They also do the best pale ale going! Brewed just for the pub!

Always wonderful, with a huge choice of beer and wine. Baby Bao food is amazing, with newly updated menu improving an already impressive range of Taiwanese plates. Busy but worth the wait for a table, can reserve for larger groups.

The steamed buns are amazing!! We shared the fish tempura and chicken (with pineapple glaze) and they were both incredibly delicious. We went on a Saturday night and the place was rammed (would advise making a reservation, we didn't)! Luckily we found two spare stools in the outside area which was warmed up by heat lamps. They had a great selection of beer on offer also, I had an IPA (Bramble) and a Mango IPA. Sadly the G&T my better half had was rather disappointing, tasted very watered down. Will probably go back if we get the chance.

A small pub that do decent selection of craft beers. They are also famous for their Bao, which never disappoints. My favorite is the mushroom one that is juicy and goes really well with the bao bun. The Kimcheese fries is well executed. Fries that is not soggy and will good hot kicks thanksgiving the gotchujang cheese.

Lovely food - the bao buns alone are absolutely worth coming for. Topped chips were great too. Good selection of drinks too, and helpful friendly staff. Sensible social distancing in place, and everything felt clean and practical.

Great beer, great selection and great location. It's a bit small inside so expect it to be busy (there's more space upstairs). Their chips are a thing of beauty but note some of the bao's are much smaller than others. Recommend you take the classic of you want a more substantial meal.

Superb beer pub just off the main drag down from the station. Even in these difficult beer times they had 8 (or so) quite unusual keg beers, including one brewed in the pub (Pondwater). It would seems from having3 handpumps that they normally have a few draught beers, but as I say we were there during difficult times and there were none. The kitchen is closed during mid-afternoons (3 to 5 if memory serves me) so if you are ravenous check their website. Brighton isn't short of good pubs, but this is a little winner. Give it a whirl.

Lovely little pub! The food was 10 out of 10!!! Great taste, fresh ingredients and amazing presentation! Would def recommend the squid for a side! The pub is rather small so seating is limited. They do not take reservations.

Classic English pub with the best bao I’ve had in the UK. They honestly rival What the Bao in Hong Kong and other top notch bao places worldwide. The bao bun is so soft, and they have killer combos. We had the karaage chicken and pork, and would have them again in a heartbeat. Generous portion as well. Definitely worth a stop!

Amazing food. The Bao were delicious (and big too!) But the fried chicken wings were next level delicious. Probably wouldn't order the calabri again as it was relatively plain compared to how flavourful the other dishes were.

Had a fantastic evening here. Food was all very good, and pretty reasonably priced for Brighton. The fried chicken was excellent although the pork bao our favourites. Excellent craft beer selection on draught, including their own house brew. Staff were friendly and attentive and actually took our order at the table rather than using onerous ordering apps like many venues now. Small place but very busy (but safely distanced) - good music and good atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

You have to go to The Pond and try their Bao buns. So good! A group of us went on a Thursday night and it was tough to get a table. If you hang about long enough for a table though (or book), it will not disappoint. Great atmosphere, great drink selection and ace food.

You just have to try this place, the Bao Buns are amazing, and especially the soft-shell crab one but all are excellent. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly although we were told just after we finished our meal that the table was needed in 10 minutes (we had only been there maybe 30/40 mins) as it happens we were moving on anyway but had we decided to settle there for a little while that would have put me off a bit. It just doesn’t give the right message out, if we had been there 2 hours and not buying anything I would understand but we had not even been there an hour. Good selection of drinks on the menu and some excellent craft beers too Great place would certainly like to go again and hopefully not be told that my table is needed so I can spend longer there 4 Bao Buns 1 korean chicken 2 x 2/3 beers 2 x gin's and 1 tonic was £51.75 which I thought just about the right price They DO NOT add service charge to the bill (least not on my visit) which is refreshing and nice.

We walked past this place nearly every day on our holiday and kept thinking how cute it looked. On our last day we were looking for a going home treat so we decided to pop in there for some food and we weren't disappointed. The food is delicious! The bao buns are perfect for a quick bite. The plates of food are small but priced accordingly. They are also great for ordering a variety of dishes and sharing which is what we did so we could try a little of everything. The service was quick and attentive especially considering how busy it got! Go early because of how busy it gets and because it's not the biggest venue - you will struggle to find a seat otherwise. I can't wait to go back to Brighton so we can eat here again!

My partner bought me here after visiting with a friend and I can see why. Not just a pub with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff but the food is amazing! Both meat, fish and vegan options are fab. We got the mushroom bao, Tofu bao, chicken bao, shrimp bao, the chips and the katsu curry, cheesy noodle spring rolls with curry sauce. All absolutely perfect. Social distancing, check in and one way system all done well. Can't wait to visit again!

It can get pretty busy in here, as it's a small and slightly oddly laid out place. However, it's a pleasant enough pub. Service is friendly but can be a bit slow as the bar is quite small. Drinks are on the pricey side, even for a craft beer focused place in Brighton but not super expensive. The food is excellent. Some of the best bao in the city and the vegan selection is very good too.

They have a vegan menu on Monday and the food was super tasty! I was a bit concerned as I do love cheese and I wanted to try the spicy Mac and cheese. The cheese was actually quite melty and tasty. The Bao was my favorite but the crispy broccoli was delicious too. The staff was friendly, one waiter gently made me taste few beers before I picked one.

A great place to eat. The current Baby Bao pop-up is an absolute blessing and the food is divine. We especially loved the Korean Chicken Bao. We will certainly be back to try some more of the sides. We only managed to pop in for Lunch as when we came for dinner the fryer wasn't working so half of the menu was off. Lunchtime was so, so busy and the place was understaffed. We were waiting a long while for our food as the staff tried to juggle serving at the bar and bringing food to customers. The choices of beer and spirits was great. As a big gin and craft beer fan I was very happy, also the pubs own Pale Ale was absolutely brilliant. Can't wait to come back, hopefully for dinner where we can pig out and drink lots.

We visited in the daytime midweek so it was quiet and had a nice atmosphere, not like some pubs in the daytime. Friendly, welcoming staff. Was not a fan of the food though. Which was a shame because I really wanted to like it. I would go there again and give it a second chance. But with so many other options for food in Brighton I generally opt for going somewhere I know I like or trying something completely new.

Lovely food at a reasonable price. Drinks are expensive, all the beers are craft. Great vegan options on both food and drink. Can get very busy and cramped. The gents toilets is also a bit cramped so would be no good for the disabled. Dogs are welcome. There is a decked outside area, with heating for smokers.

I didn't try the food, but I love that the beer list was outside so you could see what was on tap beforehand. Nice vibe inside, not too loud or rowdy, borderline cosy. The Pond is a lovely place to eat/drink if you don't mind sharing a table and meeting someone new, it is a very cosy place with limited seating but a great atmosphere and sense of community. The food (Baby Bao) is fantastic and has a great vegetarian/vegan range. The drink selection is good if not a little pricey. Because most of the ales are 6% ABV and up they mostly do half and 2/3 pints. These are around £5 each but it is very good beer. I found some of the stronger beers to be quite sweet, almost just sugary sweet that I was not a fan of but that is just my opinion. In short, it is great for lunch with a fantastic selection of Taiwanese dishes and lovely for an evening drink and meeting new people.

A recent refit has pushed The Pond to another level, making it one of the very best pubs in Brighton. A good selection of beers greets you as you walk in but that's only part of the story from this cracking little pub, fantastic service and really amazing food (try the vegan bao sharing platter) make it a memorable visit. I really can't recommend the food here enough, whoever is running this place is doing an excellent job.

Great pub for sampling ales from smaller, independent breweries, and their range is continuously changing. But the food was very average, there no TP in the gents, and no lock on the door. In short: brilliant for beer, go elsewhere for food.

Probably the best food I have ever eaten, when people ask me "what would your last meal be?" I would now say the food at the pond, frickin ridiculous, I have now left my wife and married the chef, the sex isn't great but the food is fantastic. I think I would still give my poo tomorrow a 4 star.

We live in Reading yet when we are in Brighton where my niece lives we always go upstairs to The Pond and never fail to get the best Thai meal in Brighton, and we've been doing that for 11 years. It is really good there and although we go infrequently the chef never fails to recognise us. I'm not the only person to think that it is the best and cheapest place to eat in town.

Nice place, always busy however when I went in, and as a visitor to Brighton, I asked for a local ale, the bar person didn't know her ales at all and it seemed like they didn't have one on tap anyway. We moved on.

Five stars doesn't even come close to how I feel about biting into my first ever Bao Bun pork belly burger. If I died, that taste sensation would probably be the last thing I would think of and it makes me so sad to know that I'll never be able to experience that first bite again. Okay, it's a little pricey but that can be easily overlooked when the staff were very friendly, even if they did get my name wrong and we had to wait an extra 30 seconds for our food whilst the waitress checked with the kitchen. Basically, in essence, to conclude, you must go to The Pond if you're in Brighton, otherwise God will send you to hell.
