I always go for the Sunday roast which is delicious. My partner went for the burger and it was not good at all.....it tasted very cheap unfortunately. Staff are good and friendly. Prices are reasonable.

The beef was tender, the gammon nicely cooked too, you don’t feel pressured to move quickly once you have eaten and it is comfortable, the main downside is there isn’t quite as much variety in vegetables compared to some other carveries, still a choice just not varied.

Could be a nice place for families to eat and drink with a play area outside for the kids Located very near the local LIDO and the shingle beach just over the road. Only thumbs down at the present time is the noise in the daytime hours coming from a huge building site directly opposite.

Perfectly good place for a Sunday roast, with the family, your partner or your friends. They have a Dart board and an ATM which unfortunately does charge £1.75 to withdraw but never the less. They have TV's and have the football on so if your a fan then its ideal. The food is good, 5* hygiene rating which should fill you with confidence. During my visit we were waiting to be seated as per their sign but no one came to us, but I can understand as it was a Sunday and they seemed to be understaffed and they didnt have any beef out, so just stuffed myself with Gammon. But £9 odd for a carvery on a Sunday a done deal in my opinion.

Staff very pleasant and friendly, we were shown how to use the app, which was fun for one visit, bit limited on making alterations to dishes, not always possible. Unfortunately the carvery had run out of meat, we were called and pre-warned of this. That was really appreciated, we enjoyed other menu options and the novelty of the app.

Came in with a friend yesterday early afternoon and just wanted to say that it was wonderful. Staff very friendly and service was spot on. We ordered two fish and chips and they were cooked to perfection, top job from the chef who made our meals. Couldn't fault anything from my visit. We had trouble finding the place as there were no lights on outside and no lit up signage at all, even with the satnav telling us where to go. Went Sunday lunchtime. It was quite busy but very understaffed. The poor girl was rushed off her feet trying to serve meals and drinks to half the restaurant. I had carvery which was very nice but I had finished mine at least 10 mins before my partners meal arrived. We could not get any further attention so left but would have had dessert and more drinks if we could have got served. Shame because the food was nice but you need more staff.

We didn't expect much as the last time we came here about a year ago it wasn't very nice. But it's nice to how much it has improved. The potatoes are crispy (some of the best I've ever seen) , the veg is fresh, and the carver was polite and friendly. The waiting staff were great to talk too as well. Very friendly.

We came here Wednesday afternoon. It was very busy, but the food was excellent. I had the carvery while my wife had a pizza. We were told the pizza will be 5 to 10 minutes and suggested to wait for the carvery. It was good to know and allowed us to eat together. The food was lovely and the staff are very friendly. went to the Salt Dean tavern last week. and came straight back out. they had no carvery until 5.30pm. We arrived there at 4.00. so we went to the peacehaven branch instead.

Came along for my nephews birthday. Food took awhile, 40 mins but we were happy to wait as we know this wad to do with the Covid regulations. Staff were all friendly and happy to help. We had an order query which was sorted immediately and with lots of apologies. Considering we were one of the last tables there, they were still putting fresh food out on the carvery. Could be considered a little wasteful but we were pleased with the freshness!

Went for a carvery with the family and all was good. Meat took a while to be replenished but I think this was just down to how busy it was. Busy is good I guess. Had a lovely old mout cider with glass and ice. Cherries and berries it was. Yum. Kids had a standard carvery and that was enough. Enjoyed my visit.

This was a good place to eat mum and I had the carvery which was lovely also good is a cheaper portion of carvery for those with smaller appetites. Only two negatives were that it was half term and therefore very busy and noisy. The other one was that what had turned out a very warm day they still had the heating on so positively melting by the time we left 😂

I come here every few weeks or so on a weekday when it's not too busy. Staff are friendly and attentive and the place is always clean and tidy. They cater for veggies as well as vegans (just ask for your veggies to be cooked separately, as they use butter). I'm yet to be disappointed!

This has now changed to a Stonehouse restaurant and was really nice when we visited at the weekend. My pizza was excellent and starters were a great size and really tasty. The value for money is excellent too. Service is pretty basic but you get what you need and the staff were friendly enough. It was quite messy on a Saturday evening, you could see it had been a busy day.

Been coming here for a few months now and it really is hit and miss as to what saltdean tavern you will walk into. It can be prompt service and a enjoyable experience but it can also be very frustrating with long ques and poor service without a smile. We will still be coming here as we are so local but a short drive up to the other one and you get a well organized establishment.

Went there for roast dinner. They do three or four options from the carvery. The food was warm but not hot, which is a common problem with carveries. The cauliflower was very hard. Perhaps they have to put it out like that to prevent it going soggy. Overall good deal for budget priced food. Good beer on hand pumps.

Food was great...had carvery. The beef was moist and the veg was really fresh. The service? What service!!! Very disappointed we were ignored the whole time we were there. I had to order my food and drinks at the bar. Then sat for 15-20 mins waiting for our plates to be cleared so we could order pudding. Again we were totally ignored so had to go and order from the bar. This all happened when the staff weren't very busy which makes it worse. We won't be back. Shame as the foods good.

The food, for its price, is always fresh and of superb quality and the staff courteous, effecient and friendly. Recent additions to the menu means that in addition to their Carvery there is ample other choices to suit most visitors.

On our experience of having breakfast buffet -Lovely staff, only problem is you have to buy the mushrooms seperatly as an extra but you end up finishing your breakfast before they come out, maybe as a suggestion either add them to buffet or take them off the menu. As frequent visitors to The Saltdean Tavern, we love the carvery and the "Eat all you like" breakfasts. Staff are always polite, helpful and friendly, the prices are great too. However, my only thumbs down are that firstly, they have stopped doing my favourite prawn cocktail starter and the profitterole dessert (which I can't have but my friend can) secondly, as a type 2 diabetic, there are no low sugar or sugar free options available on any of the menus. I think that these should definitely be included though because most places nowadays cater for vegetarians and vegans as well as some who also do gluten free foods, so hey, why not consider us diabetics? Even if it is just a fruit bowl or diabetic ice cream. worth considering don't you think?

It's going downhill just lately. Had to wait give mins for the chef to come out to serve, some of the veg were looking sad or in need of topping up and the gravy pot was empty so had to wait to be replaced. Later, when we ordered cappachino the menu said 2:39 but was charged much more. We had to insist the waitress s/w the manager, who after some time she came back with the change. So look out what you are charged in future.

The food was really good there were 7 of us there after the funeral of our dear Roy we hadn't told them they must have realized the offer us if we wanted to go to a more private area but we were quite happy where we were sitting so the staff were attentive . We Decided to visit late Sunday afternoon as Sundays tend to be busy. We arrived at 5.20 so the place was a little busy but not as busy as if we'd come in the early afternoon. As we entered we had to wait until we was invited to our table I booked by phone earlier the waiting time was around 10 minutes of just standing in the main entrance waiting to be invited to our pre booked table by a waitress who looked like her heart was not in her job mybe she just had a long day or something anyway we was asked if we require drinks in which we did order one soft drink and one alcoholic drink which we got after we selected our food from the self service in which you have to wait for a carvery chef to slice your choice of meat before you serve yourself a choice of vegetables potatoes and sources. However if your a meat eater and like a good amount of sliced meat then am afraid you'd be disappointed as the so called carvery chef tends to slice the meat paper thin so you don't expect a lot so I suppose you can make it up with lots of vegetables and potatoes lol. Anyway looking on the good side the food was very nice and warm however if you was expecting hot food you might be a little disappointed and our drinks did not show up till 5 minutes after we got our food however the waitress did apologise for the waiting time for our drinks. So our visit was fine i suppose and would we go back again well that's hard to say as we did go on a busy day even if it was near the end of the afternoon but that's no reason for the slow service we we received. Might try again in the week and hopefully we might get faster service and a larger amount of meat.
